Behold one poor quality, extremely short clip of Macbeth 😅 (and my review below)

My reactions as someone who only read or watched Shakespeare because of high school or because my blorbos are in it (and Macbeth was not one of the ones I’ve studied):

I enjoyed it!! David and Cush were absolutely amazing! So was the rest of the cast!

And because of the specific subject matter (read: violence*), I don’t feel the need to see it again in the next week 😅😂😓 Although if it’s released for at home viewing, I will definitely watch it again.

I had Crowley** going through my head last night for two reasons: there weren’t that many people in the theater and the violence was more pervasive than I was expecting even after reading the Sparknotes.

When he hugged and then snapped that boy’s neck, I exclaimed out loud. 😳😞

I found it more than a little confusing that they used the same actors for multiple roles. And sometimes they were ghosts of former roles and sometimes they were new people? So it was really hard to parse 😅

The sound design and music were as amazing as everyone said. I definitely wanted more!

None of what I read mentioned the Porter character, so I was pretty confused and then very entertained by him 😂 He was great!

I’m hard of hearing, and I had called ahead to ask if there would be any kind of captioning (the answer was no, because it wasn’t being provided by the distributors😓). So I didn’t catch a lot of what the Porter said especially at the beginning. But I heard the word “radio” and I was like- 🤔 That didn’t exist during Shakespeare’s time 😂😅 The argument he had with the usher about people not being allowed back in after the performance started was hilarious. (And this was recorded well before the Incident that made David have to leave the stage.)

I absolutely recommend going to see it if you can!!

*the “blood” is shown on David and Cush’s hands during one scene and then at the very end which you may have seen video of the curtain call that showed it

Imagine being the fastest thing alive, and being alone in a cave for so long, but you finally found a family.

Imagine being the fastest thing alive, and you and your said family found themselves glued to the floor, and you couldn't move your feet, your legs. You just couldn't move at all. Except your hand. Barely.

Imagine being the fastest thing alive, and you see chunks of concrete being pulled from above, preparing to smash against the floor, where your family is, and you can't move.

Imagine being the fastest thing alive, and you can't move your legs and all you can do is reach out your hand to your family, who seemed so close yet so far away, and is about to get crushed by concrete.

Sonic, of course, saved his family from the concrete boulder, thankfully, but I often think about the moment before he saved him.

Despite being stuck onto the floor, it didn't stop Sonic from curling into a ball, managed to dash off from the high gravity floor with a burst of speed, and smashed the boulder to bits to save his family. He was not ready to witness another family member get injured, or worse.

He was not ready to lose another family again. He won't. He's not going to let it happen. He lost Longclaw, he's not gonna lose anyone else. And because of his will to make sure it won't happen, he managed to get unstuck and save them.

Everything about the small little moment with Sonic drives me insane watching the movie a second time. And you wanna know why?

Because someone close to him got hurt anyways.
