Dark's mind reading is just, so damn fun.

Like Green is gambling SO MUCH putting his trust into Dark but it pays off because Dark can TELL Green is truly putting faith in him to give him the benefit of the doubt.

And that means A LOT to him.

The fact Green doesn't want to hurt him MEANS A LOT TO HIM.

Dark knows this man ain't stupid.

I like him giving Green a goodbye hug and a kiss on the cheek hah.

It's so sweet in a way.

And his parting words being words of affirmation for Green.

He can be a very sweet person when given kindness.

I just like them a lot.

Green was a pretty good influence on Dark. XDD

Dark Link's dramatic ass flying away is so funny to me and probably just me.

Like Dark doesn't typically fly or flex his wings much but they DO exist. XDDD

He can kinda just hover like Shadow but I don't think that's been shown even ONCE XDDDD

Dark isn't really the type to flex his magic in general though.

The Headspace IS HIS BODY which uhhh is a horror.

Time to mention: It changing from a desolate blue to that bright pink woodsy area afterward is kinda a reflection of Dark and the person he's talking to's mental space.

It'll change again later when he talks to Blue too.

Now that Dark Ran off we get an insight back into Green. Even though he technically WON this interaction? If you could word it that way, he got kinda what he wanted...He's still kinda overloaded with bullshit, poor guy.

The dialogue is up there in scenes that make me laugh just to read.

Link's eyes bugging out completely as he runs in terror from Green has to be up there in stupid shit. It's so ridiculous and amazing just tickles my brain lmfao. It's so dumb. XDDD

Sooooo, we didn't learn a LOT from Link's appearance outside of the fact he's still lingering around within the headspace. Which is ODD because Dark hasn't brought him up or seemingly hasn't run into him...Despite Link STALKING him it seems.

Link's adoption of the black tunic is odd to say the least. His mental state is still fractured and torn considering it's appearance.

And it dawns on me I don't think Green goes on to NEVER disclosed to anyone Link's still running around. X'DDDD (Re-reading FSR together like this is fun isn't it?)

A LOT of shit happens to where he didn't really have time to squeeze it in but it is funny this scene is still pretty up in the air on it's importance for now.

Also since this is rambles I don't have to keep secrets on who the weirdo next to Link is in the last panel.

True to his word, Shadow is able to tell Dark was active. Oh no.

LOL also not Zelda calling Green by the wrong name. X'D Poor girl isn't used to being around the four dudes her bestie splits into. (She literally had NO idea they were split until AFTER the final battle lmfao and then they walked back to the sanctuary and boom.)

Shadow's got beef with the little guy and Zelda making a force field, and Shadow proceeding to SMACK into it always gets a laugh it's so dumb.

Art wise it's kinda funny just how LONG Dark's tentacles are in this scene considering I shortened them later. XD

Also...Considering recent updates Dark responding violently when in danger is...Well something. XDDD

Green has a lot of hesitance too, he just chooses to stuff that down in turn for a more peaceful option.

he's aware dark has caused hurt and is INSANE but wants to give him a chance.

I think in a lot of ways he regrets that Shadow never had help because they just met "Too late" in a lot of ways.

Shadow had already committed many horrible deeds before anyone had a glimpse of being able to help him.

While Dark is still very new and able to be saved from a life of regret or villainy, cause Green recognized that spark of good in him that could blossom into a good person if they give it a try.

meanwhile, Shadow's being self loathing.

...To be fair a lot of what Dark Link says DOESN'T make sense due to it being...from an outsider's perspective utter nonsense (He knows Zelda lore lmfao.) but his claims Shadow just IS ganon are clearly getting to shadow cause he's got self doubt.

Meanwhile Green tries to remind him of his progress, and thinks Shadow and Dark could have something to bond over.

Aaaand there is it boy doesn't wanna be reminded of how much he's fucked up. It's hard when there's a mirror pointed at you.

Green's still feeling bad about what he said.

Green asking a reasonable question about how he's gonna go get Blue...considering his physical form is WITH Green and Shadow.

And Dark responds verbally. So far I think he's only growled in that form. XD

So uhhh, Shadow's pissed off Dark refused to speak last night. XDDD

So if you're curious: My vision for Dark in this form is that speaking is VERY difficult for him to do so he just...doesn't.

This is his dormant form, so his "Functionality" is mostly...nonexistant.

This is a form that doesn't take a lot of effort to maintain or upkeep so his actual abilities aren't very wide.

Like he CAN talk. But simple phrases and words are easiest for him to do. Which is why he repeats "Yeah yeah" twice.

Shadow also fails to realize even THIS form was a step up from the fact Dark was a simple sphere with an eye before. XD

He grew a mouth to chew on Green...So he might have had the intention to speak last night and just...didn't.

But if he wanted to speak, he could just form back to his "Link" form or drag someone to the headspace.

Overall: Shadow ya dummy he probably just didn't have anything to say XD

Green coming to Dark's defense screaming "STOP IT SHADOW YOU'RE SCARING HIM!" is so funny because I without fail imagine the "HE'S AFRAID OF SANTA CLAUS!!!" "STOP IT PATRICK YOU'RE SCARING HIM!!!" spongebob bit.

Shadow letting the whole "Dad" debacle slip and Green's fucking face to that just sends me.

He looks so...judgmental. X'D

Dark Link giving Green the title of his "Dad" Whatever he thinks that means...because Shadow is a bad one is just, funny as hell to me.

Dark so obviously doesn't understand blood family ties (...His entire life revolves around 4 dudes who are one guy, and that guy's shadow all being in a weird as fuck relationship so uh...who blames him for not understanding family)

Affectively, Green is just someone Dark considers his family so...he's his "dad". XD

The title switch from Shadow TO Green is due to the fact he just feels more comfortable and safe WITH Green.

...Shadow uses THIS as an example of Dark being "Unreasonable" which is something else alright. XDDD

Green taking the piss out of the whole "dad" thing is pretty damn silly...Green you ARE the daddy now. X'D

I don't think Green would have tried this shit if Dark was in his Link form. XDDD

I know in the draft comic folders I got a comic where Green treats Dark differently based on his form and how Dark doesn't understand that. (him being uncomfortable with the finger chewing in his Link disguise vs his dormant form for example) and how he thinks Green's a hypocrite.

Last panel: Shadow DEFINENTLY not trying to keep everyone thinking Dark's just insane and not saying anything important.

i finally have the time and the right mindset to start focusing on souvenir pop and to actively listen to the songs, with thought and feel. so naturally, i’m also going to write my thoughts down. starting with ako toga više neće biti.

(as with other joker out songs, i'm not touching the lyrics bc i don't speak the language myself, i'll leave the lyrical analysis to those who do)

this song sounds sort of unpolished and rough around the edges and i absolutely love that, so so so much. especially the beginning sounds like a song played by some obscure band in the back of a bar - and i mean that in the best way possible. i mean that the song immediately has like an atmosphere to it, lots and lots of feeling. it builds a picture, it sounds smoky and hazy to me, and i adore that.

this is like the sister song of everybody’s waiting to me. the influences are similar, sort of 60’s sound, the keyboard elements are similar, and there’s similar emotional build in this. and if you don’t know how much i love everybody’s waiting, you can read about it here. but these two songs go hand in hand to me, and they feel so home-like to me. i love being in the musical world and in the emotional space both of these songs create. they’re beautiful.

i love that this song doesn’t go the most expected routes, but it also never gets too wacky. 

writing this analysis, i’ve spent hours working on my big käärijä rhyme scheme and flow analysis project today, so i was in the headspace of counting beats and bars. and so i did that with this song too, just to have the different sections written down for myself, and it actually really helped me to appreciate the structure of the song.

what i noticed is that they keep the song very lively and interesting by interjecting small sections that are different from everything around them. 

the first verse stays one way, one type of sound, until we get to “Pa da otvoriš vrata kô da ništa nije bilo” which is a different section, half the length of the part that came before it. we stop for a wee bit, to sort of take a breath and look at where we are.

and then we go again. and we get a section that again, stays one way, one type of sound, until we get to “Da se grlimo i ljubimo, grlimo i ljubimo, I da si šapćemo da se volimo, I da se sprdamo i smejemo dok si noge grejemo” which has it’s own sound, different to anything before it, most notably because of Bojan’s delivery. so we’ve already had like four different types of sections before the chorus, and interestingly, they weren’t all equal in length, which keeps the listener engaged. smart!

they keep this structure up throughout the whole song. mini transitions here and there that keep you engaged. i especially love both the guitar solo and the instrumental transition bit that comes right after it. you wouldn’t expect the keyboard to come forward like that after the solo, i think it’s a brilliant choice compositionally.

and then the chorus! the chorus sort of.. starts and then starts again. fascinating! so we get “Ako toga više neće biti, Ljubav je najobičnija laž” and then we get one count of four beats of just instrumental, and it feels like we’re building. and then, the same lyric again, almost like we’re starting the chorus again, “Ako toga više neće biti” and so are we going to get the same section again? no! straight into a key change and a musical direction we haven’t heard before. the two bits in the chorus, that both start with “ako toga”, are different from one another in a way that you wouldn’t necessarily expect the first time. and i really really love that, when music takes you on a journey, and you don’t know what the next turn is going to be.

love love love the solo btw, i only wish it was a wee bit louder in the mix.

this is a brilliant sound, they are all absolutely shining on this track. but i have to highlight one member above the others, i’m sorry.

I have never met any two kinksters who "play" in the same way, so I feel it's appropriate to lay out exactly the manner in which I approach BDSM. The long and short of my approach is based on experience, discussing at length with others, and various literature on the subject. I try to be as well-informed as possible.

Non-negotiables—

Safewords.

This should come as no surprise. These are the single most reliable way to ensure safety and prevent boundaries from being crossed.

Communication.

Constant communication is critical to a healthy relationship and particularly a healthy dynamic. Check-ins, re-negotiation, etc. should always be honored.

SSC.

This stands for “safe, sane, and consensual.” It’s a pillar of BDSM in general. Any kink or scene you partake in should be approached in a safe manner, in a sane headspace, and with the enthusiastic consent of all parties.

Boundaries.

These are hard limits, soft limits, and rules. These are inalienable lines you draw for your own safety and sanity. These should never, under any circumstance, be intentionally crossed. However, it is up to each individual to reiterate and establish them through communication and safewords.

Mutual Respect.

Despite the power exchange, each role in the dynamic should receive the same amount of respect as the other. All players should respect each other, and their limits.

No Surprises.

No punishment should come as a surprise to a sub. If the sub takes a misstep but was not informed prior, the most they should receive is a warning for the future. The sole exception to this rule is in pre-negotiation, but that technically takes the surprise away anyway.

Negotiation.

This is what makes the world go ‘round. Negotiation is a vital aspect of any D/s dynamic, as it establishes each player’s desires within the relationship. It establishes their needs, limits, safewords, interests, abilities, and more. Re-negotiation is encouraged. This is a huge part of good communication. Negotiation is brought up constantly because of how important it is. It is the ability to make requests, share ideas, veto decisions, and more.

Aftercare.

A BDSM dynamic can be strenuous on even the strongest will. It can erode emotional stability over time if anyone is neglected. Due to sub drops and Dom drops/breaks, aftercare is always a necessity.

Expectations—

Expectations are generally established during the very beginning of a dynamic. These are discussed between all involved parties. There are a few general expectations that are prevalent in EVERY healthy dynamic, however:

The sub holds as much influence as the Dominant, and their word (concerns, critiques, etc.) should be respected. Although the submissive relinquishes power to their Dominant, it is an "illusion". The sub holds an imaginary big red button that stops everything, no matter what, if they push it. They have every ability to leave the dynamic, re- negotiate, pause, etc. While the Dominant is also capable of these things, they inherently have the advantage of the play power being in their court.

All parties should constantly strive to protect and improve the relationship. This is true of any relationship but is essential for D/s relationships. Any mistake on the Dom’s side could begin crossing the line to abuse; any hesitation on the sub’s end could result in harm.

Submission is earned, not taken. Many abusive Dominants will assume subs ought to submit to them, no matter what, and take advantage of submissives who struggle to set & maintain boundaries. It is important to remember that a sub is NEVER obligated to submit to anyone. They have inalienable rights and autonomy that cannot be infringed upon.

Dominance is given, not coerced. Just as submission cannot be taken, dominance can not be forced, either. It is a sign of an unhealthy sub if one tries to manipulate a Dominant into being in a dynamic with them or Dominating them at all.

Everything is mutually agreed upon. This circles back into communication, negotiation, and respected boundaries. No one should ever be made to do something they don’t want to do. Consent is critical. Always.

It’s all an illusion. As mentioned in the first general expectation: the sub doesn't actually have their autonomy or rights taken away. They're never truly made to do anything against their will. Their Dom serves them too, by offering them a safe space to release themselves of worldly stressors and submerge their psyches into the dynamic. Despite the constraints on a sub (such as the negotiated rules or habits), this offers many people freedom from responsibilities they have to do daily: decisions, initiative, etc. In this way—even in a slave/owner relationship—the Dominant is helping their submissive. By treating their sub well, a Dom earns their sub feeling safe to relinquish power and influence. A healthy Dom relishes this power exchange, and will never abuse it.

Wants & Needs—

This is a challenging topic to cover, as it is up to each individual to determine what their wants are versus their needs.

Everyone’s needs MUST be honored; wants should be heavily considered, but aren’t as necessary to remain happy.

The hierarchy of wants vs needs: The sub’s needs.* The Dom’s needs.* The Dom’s wants. The sub’s wants.

*Both are essentially equal in importance, but for simplicity's sake, they are listed sequentially.

“Needs” are imperatives. They are conditions that must be fulfilled in order to survive. Food, water, shelter, and a sense of safety are obvious needs. In the context of a relationship, there are also certain psychological and conditional needs, many of which revolve around a sense of emotional safety and security. These soft needs are every bit as important as the obvious hard physical ones. Needs should be communicated clearly between D/s partners as early as possible and updated as necessary as the awareness of new ones arises. There must be room within the dynamic for clear communication of needs by a submissive and the ability to revise or add to them as necessary…at any time. It is the responsibility of a Dominant to meet the needs of a submissive to the best of their ability at all times. Period.

“Wants” are things that are optional. They are desires, perhaps very strong ones, but are not necessary for physical or emotional safety or survival. Not getting what you want may sour your mood, ruin your day, or leave you feeling empty or unfulfilled, but they are not going to result in physical harm or long-term emotional decline or death. It is the Dominant’s prerogative to decide whether to grant or deny wants. This is, in point of fact, the place where the power exchange actually occurs. By giving the discretion over wants to a Dominant partner you are creating the space for the power imbalance to occur. A submissive does not get to choose when, if, or how wants are granted. That is the role of the Dominant, at least within predetermined and agreed-upon boundaries. Every relationship is different, and the guardrails of this space are highly individualized. Defining the scope of wants that are handed over to the authority of a Dominant is the reason we need to be clear and upfront with one another over the span of power being exchanged.

The Submissive:

The “passive” player. They consensually give up their agency and power within a relationship. They choose, instead, to act in tandem with their Dom’s lead: enthusiastically engaging in their loss of control.

Bad Subs…

Are disengaged. They expect their Dom to pull all the weight with no personal responsibility.

Do not use their safewords. They do not honor their own limits, or boundaries, and fear putting their foot down when necessary.

Represent themselves unapologetically. These subs show up as their authentic selves, knowing what they need, what they want, and how to communicate this. They do not tolerate neglect.

Genuinely submit. They find freedom and joy in putting aside their control, to allow their Dom to take the reins for them. They love the release it brings and the escape from everyday mundanities.

Respect their Dom’s limits. They’re aware that the Dominant’s limits are just as important as their own, and do not take it personally if their Dom turns down an idea or rain checks something.

***What is a “sub drop”?

A sub drop is an emotional and physical low that can occur anywhere from a few hours to a few days after the emotional/hormonal high of a BDSM interaction. It’s most commonly experienced after a heavily intense scene, but may be triggered at surprising times. Due to the submissive’s conditioning, a sub’s brain will fill with endorphins, serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin. This is a huge positive imbalance in their psychological chemistry. This is the rush that people feel when submitting. After, without proper “wind down” or “cool down,” the brain will experience a massive negative imbalance, as the brain returns itself to normal by depriving itself of these chemicals temporarily. It can cause anxiety attacks, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, depression, and many awful side-effects.

The Dominant:

The “active” player. They shoulder the lead position in the dynamic, and the burden of responsibility to maintain the sub’s best interests and safety at all times. They agree to assist their sub in escaping the displeasure of vanilla life.

Bad Doms…

Act out of selfishness. Everything they do is for their own benefit, with little to no regard for their sub.

Disguise abuse as BDSM. This is unfortunately easy to do. The D/s dynamic, in any other context, would be an abusive one. Without the safety net of negotiation, communication, and the dynamic as an illusion; the sub would be in a heavily abusive situation.

Expect submission. However, they do nothing to earn it. They simply engage in the dynamic to take advantage of subs who don’t know any better.

Prioritize their wants and needs over their sub’s needs and comfort. They hold apathy towards their sub, and use their sub to fulfill their own desires with no regard for their s.

Don’t give their subs a voice. They do not encourage negotiation or communication. They ignore sub’s ideas and wants.

Disregard safewords and boundaries. This is obviously a huge issue. Ignoring such things can risk a submissive’s safety and health; mental health included.

Can’t handle the responsibility. They find maintaining trust and the sub’s happiness to be “too much.” They don’t strive for their sub’s soul safety, and do not put in the work to be a happy place for their submissive.

Good Doms…

Act with selflessness. While their wants and needs are important, they are also happy when their sub is happy. Everything they do will help their submissive flourish in some way.

Put in the work to strengthen safety nets. They don’t ever allow the dynamic to cross the line into abuse. They are diligent in keeping things kosher and healthy.

Always earn submission. They understand the submissive’s independence and inherent value. They never attempt to take submission through force.

Prioritize their sub’s needs and comfort over their own wants and needs. They understand that, in such a power exchange, it is fundamental to fulfill their sub first and foremost. A fulfilled sub is a fulfilled Dom.

Will always respect their sub’s wishes. They never remove the sub’s voice and ability to make negotiations, ask for things, or offer ideas. Their sub is an important aspect of the dynamic’s success and they know this.

Never ignore a safeword. They will always respect boundaries. This includes consistent check-ins, breaks in heavy scenes, and aftercare.

Love the responsibility. Knowing they can uphold a place of peace for their sub gives them a rush. They love the exchange of trust—sometimes more than the exchange of power—and will do everything in their power to keep the dynamic healthy.

Hello. I am currently nearing my mid 20's and still have a hard time making peace with how my body looks. Hi! Sorry for the long answer, I don’t know if this is helpful this is just my experience.

So, to start with, I totally get the external voices becoming internal. My mother cannot handle the fact that I’m fat and always have been (I was literally a 10lb baby). Growing up she was very cruel about it and essentially taught me anorexia starting around age 8. It can be really hard to push those voices away but you have to keep reminding yourself they are external. They are not you - they are other people with their own issues and hang ups. Easier said than done ik but it’s good to keep in mind.

I would say it’s super important to get rid of the idea that your body hates you. It doesn’t - it’s just doing it’s best to keep you alive. That’s it’s only goal. Something that has helped me is separating my body from myself and making it just something I take care of. Like a plant. I feed and water it and let it do it’s thing.

It’s always going to be a flip flopping battle. Some days will always be bad. I think the best goal is neutrality. When I stopped trying to force myself to love my body and sought neutrality I made so much more progress. Now I’ve come to mostly love my body as it is, but learning to be neutral to it first really was the thing that got the ball rolling in a positive direction.

Some steps that helped me a lot were only following plus size fashion vloggers/influencers. Especially if you can find people with the same body type as you. Another was simply not looking in mirrors too much. I’d get stuck staring at my reflection and just only looking in passing for a while helped a lot.

underneath the primordial gods are the regular gods, and boy howdy are there a lot of them. they're generally grouped into "major" and "minor" categories based on influence, power, and the importance of their domains, but everybody and their mother has different opinions on what exactly constitutes a major or minor deity and theyve been arguing about it since the start of time so i won't get into that right now.

very few gods formed naturally or even semi-naturally! all of the primordial ones did, of course, but there's also a few that by virtue of their domains already kind of half-existed before they were officially dubbed deities: notable examples of these include Time, Nature (specifically relating to the non-human flora and fauna of the Overworld), The Nether, Entropy, Destiny, and the Moon.

(Some notes on the list I just gave: The End and the Void have no god assigned to them due to the nature of their formation and structure. The Sun doesn't have one dedicated god but instead a council of sun gods who all take turns with it. There are regional Sky Gods. There's also an Ocean Queen (formally the Lady of the Waters), but she's not the goddess of the sea because the ocean and all water in general are kind of ungovernable due to other reasons).

The rest of the major gods, however, and all of the minor ones, were either created or were originally mortal and were chosen by Life and Death to ascend to godhood. It's actually fairly common for a mortal to become a champion of one of the more powerful gods and then ascend to minor godhood themselves later after a while of service.

oh yeah! forgot to mention that earlier but champions are a thing up here. basically they're mortals that were granted immortality by their god(s in rare cases) of choice in return for helping said god(s) run their domain and doing their will down on Earth. it's a mutual contract and it usually lasts for a set time or until both parties agree to drop it, in which case the champion is no longer bound to the god's service and continues to age like normal.

a god being stripped of their godhood and becoming mortal again is a rare event, but it does happen sometimes nonetheless. usually this requires a full discussion by the Godly High Council, but in Extremely Rare cases one of the primordial deities has done it alone for emergency reasons, because they have the power to do that. most of the time it's a vote tho.

it's a pretty serious thing though and being stripped of godhood is not the same as retiring from it. (retiring is common amongst gods who were originally human because the vast majority of mortal minds can't handle long-term immortality and that's okay.)

also, in this case, the definition of being immortal up here means that you have respawn enabled just like in minecraft. that's it. those who die permanently are mortal and although not all immortals are gods, all gods are immortal.

oh BOY anon ur in for a treat cause i just recently finished writing her backstory (tho its always subject to change lmao) and i've been meaning to make a tl;dr bullet list of notes for it too SO...

also, sorry this took so long, i kept getting distracted and was also just never in the right headspace to write lmao BUT here we are!

and just fyi, im not at all an expert on DnD or Forgotten Realms lore, everything i know is from BG3 and whatever wiki deep dives i go on

Yv'ette is my Baldur's Gate 3 MC/Tav! Although at this point, shes kinda becoming her own DnD character herself with all the other BG3-inspired ocs I have, and I've basically made up my own group of 'companions' alongside her for their own quest(s)

Here's a sheet with all her basics and such as an overview before I lay on an insane wall of text and pics for the rest of it:

And now, her backstory, in paragraph form:

~~ Valmeia Dyrr made a pact with her devil patron one day, while still in the first trimester of her pregnancy, that stated: in return for the power he can give to her, she is to choose one of her twin children’s souls to give to him.Pleading with the fiend to take some sort of mercy on her, on the twins, the devil Hyde gives her only one grace: “If you fret over which to choose, know this: one shall be a sinner, the other a saint,” he informs her. “You have until their 25th birthday to decide which you will choose. Fear not, for I will not take their soul right away. But slowly. Each time you draw upon my power after their 25th year, the infernal influence I have over them will creep ever further on their soul. Soon, I will have full control over them.” It was a steep price, but to wield incredible spells to aid her cause, and to be resurrected should she die from unnatural causes? It was a price worth paying. ~~

Yv’ette Dyrr, Captain of the Stormbringer

Born as half tiefling, half drow, Yv’ette grew up as an outcast to her peers - dusky purple skin, blackened sclera with flaming purple irises, and a furry tail tip instead of the typical half-arrowhead. Unlike her twin, who had a fairly normal shade of black hair, Yv’ette inherited her fathers stark white hair, which is an unusual trait for tieflings in Faerun. This made her a target for bullying by other kids, and even other tieflings, as they would tell her how ‘weird’ and ‘creepy’ or ‘evil’ her mix of traits made her. While the comments from those kids would sting, there were plenty of other kids that would befriend her, many of which were also victims of the same bullies. 

There was one kid in particular, a tiefling boy who lived at the local orphanage in the nearby town, that Yv’ette had wished to befriend sooner. Although he carried the common traits of a tiefling, he was abused the most by local kids, likely due to his meek and generally uncaring attitude towards it all. One day, at age 15, after running around town with Vekyll, Yv’ette would notice this same boy talking to a group of known troublemakers as she was called home by Valmeia. There was this feeling in her gut, almost like an instinct to go and defend this boy from whatever those kids were going to do, and it only grew worse as she watched them lead the boy away towards the river near town. However, the demands of her mother to hurry home eventually won over her, and Yv’ette headed the opposite way. 

That next morning, the body of the tiefling boy would be found in that very river, caught against a bridge's support beams. Throughout her life, Yv’ette would constantly regret not following her gut feeling and telling those kids to leave him alone. While his name faded from her memory over time, that very situation didn’t, and she often finds herself begging that tiefling boy for forgiveness during her lowest moments. She only hopes his soul is being treated better in the afterlife than it was on the material plane.

At age 17, while her twin brother was busy with knight training, Yv’ette decided to attempt to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. She auditioned for small community plays, performed skits with other kids for spare change, and eventually managed to land a permanent spot within a traveling theatre troupe by age 18. However, she was told that if she wanted lead protagonist or love interest roles, she would have to magically disguise herself as a human. “To fit the type casting,” the director would tell her each time. “Your acting skills are immaculate, but the role calls for a human or elf, I’m afraid.” The thing is, if she was ever cast as the antagonist or some other ‘evil’ role, she was never given the directions to disguise herself. For about a year or so, Yv’ette held her tongue about this fact - the pay was decent, her fellow actors were friendly with her, and this was her dream, after all. She only needed to keep this job until she felt like she had enough experience under her belt to join higher-ranking theatre troupes, as well as train her singing voice better so that she could expand her talent range into musicals and operas (spoiler: her singing voice remains terrible and she's very insecure about it).

One performance haunts her particularly, one that she has nightmares of constantly. The theatre troupe decided to put on a charity show for an orphanage, a play that wasn’t too intense for children, but still held a solid story and was engaging enough for all ages. It featured a hero, played by a dashing wood elf with his rag-tag team - and the villain, a greedy pirate captain played by Yv’ette, with her crew of bloodthirsty misfits. While she had the opportunity to take the love interest’s role, it required her to be able to sing, thus she gladly passed the role off to another. The moment she received the script, she knew it would not end well. The performance itself went just fine, up until the climactic battle between the hero and Yv’ette, both poised with their swords at the other, when suddenly the audience of children began to yell and cheer … but not for both actors on stage. 

“Get her! Kill the pirate!” was the first of many outbursts to come, and it wasn’t so bad. Children have called out during performances before, and it was pretty typical for them to root for the hero rather than the villain. “Kill the tiefling!” was what made her freeze, and the other actor too, the two staring at each other with their swords crossed as they listened to the hateful calls. Cries of “Foul-blood!” and “Kill her, before she takes your soul!” were a few of the jeers that she could make out before the orphanage’s caretakers decided to step in and quiet the children, likely realizing the horrid things they were saying. 

That was the point that she decided to demand the director, the troupe leader, to let her perform as her true self for ALL her roles. In response, the director decided to give her a choice: either she could willingly let him use her body as he pleased in return for better roles - or she gets kicked from the troupe. Without pause, Yv’ette tore her contract in two and stormed out of the directors office, immediately packing up her things and saying goodbye to her fellow actors. When asked why she was leaving, she simply stated something had come up back home, and she needed to return to her family. She didn’t have the heart to tell them the truth.

With her brother preparing to move to Elturel for higher training as a knight, and the possibility to become a Hellrider, Yv’ette refused to move back home in fear of disappointing her parents and becoming a burden when she should be a successful adult at that point. Instead, she used what money she had left from her actress pay to go from inn to inn in various towns and cities, trying to find a solid paying job that either didn’t under pay her - or blatantly told her they didn’t hire foul-bloods. On her last leg, Yv’ette meets a elven woman named Tilly one night at a tavern, and after drunkenly telling the bubbly woman about her situation, Tilly tells her a bit of info that will eventually change her life: Tilly’s uncle had left her a merchant ship to her in his will. She had no plans on using it and was debating on just selling it, but Yv’ette could have it, so long as Tilly was allowed to come with her on her travels.

“We could go treasure hunting or do some mercenary jobs and make money that way!” Tilly had said, excited as ever. “We could find more people down on their luck, and make a crew for ourselves!”

And that’s exactly what they did. Gathering folks from various parts of Faerun, and even further out on Toril, Yv’ette managed to become the captain of her own crew by the age of 22. Drow, dragonborn, harpies, half-orcs, githyanki, kobalds - she has at least one crewmate of every outcast race out there. She wouldn’t really call them pirates, but sometimes it was just easier - plus it intimidated people more.

The night before her 25th birthday, Yv’ette had the most vivid dream she’s ever experienced. In that dream, she stood nude in the middle of a body of water - an ocean? A lake? River? She wasn’t sure, as it was dark and foggy, barely enough moonlight shining through the dark storm clouds above her. In the waking world, it was less than a minute to midnight, and the ocean waves felt restless as they began to crash against the ship. In her dream, Yv’ette felt the urge to raise her hand towards the ever-darkening sky. Despite being soaked from the water she stood in, and though the air felt chill even within her own mind, she reached her left arm upwards to extend her fingers towards the electrically charged clouds. 

The clock strikes midnight, and in a flash - quite literally - lightning erupts from the clouds above her to strike her index finger. A burning pain shoots up through her arm and to her chest, even reaching up to her eye, as she bolts awake in her bed. Clutching her arm and squeezing her eyes shut from the phantom pains, Yv’ette lets the now-calm waves rock her back to sleep once the pain resided. 

In the morning, her crew would ask her why her left eye was a different color. She would have no answer.

In a tenday, her crew would ask her why there were black markings beginning to form around that eye and at the tips of her fingers. She would have no answer.

In a month, she would ask herself why she couldn’t use magic anymore - why could she not call upon the Weave? Her, the successor to a long line of storm sorcerers? She would have no answer. 

In fact, no one would have an answer. Not only could she not feel the Weave, the Weave couldn’t affect her, either. No wizard, sorcerer, cleric, warlock, or druid would be able to identify the cause of her issue. The only answer anyone could think of was: a curse. A powerful one, too. Whoever cursed her made it so that magic was ineffective on her, and vice versa, likely to ensure that no one could figure out how to cure it. So Yv’ette decided to leave it be, though eventually the growing markings were becoming a concern, and so was not being able to heal or be healed by anything other than potions. 

Thus, her crew had a new mission: find a way to break her curse. Or at least, find someone who knows how to.

It's a shame that a rogue nautiloid happened to snatch her off her own ship before they could.

And here's a TL;DR bullet point list of notes on her:

While growing up, she was fascinated by paintings of women draped in fabrics, joined by equally beautiful men or women, all painted with such a divine elegance 

The thing is, all those paintings were usually of humans or elves or assimar, perhaps the occasional satyr. If she were lucky, there might have been a drow, although those paintings would have more haunting tones, but were still beautiful

However, none of those paintings featured a tiefling in the role of the divine maiden or the handsome knight. They were always the devious villain with ill-intents, depicted trying to tempt or harm others in the scene

As a result, she's incredibly insecure about her appearance and how others perceive her visually ---

Both her parents are worshipers of Eilistraee, and thus she grew up as a worshiper as well. However, over the years she began to loose faith in almost every 'god' out there, since none have protected her from the traumas and misfortune, and figured they favored her brother more, just like their mother did

Time to time she'll pray to a god specific to a situation, such as Umberlee and Talos during her pirate days

During her journey to Baldur's Gate, once she reads the texts of Illmater within the Open Hand Church, she begins to feel something toward his teachings, especially after having to deal with her companions' burdens

I do plan on her eventually coming back around to worship Eilistraee again, maybe once she's cured of her curse, or something of the like ---

For romance, I legitimately can't choose between Gale or Zevlor, so i said - fuck it! Throuple. I feel as though Gale and Zev would really understand each other, what its like to be 'abandoned' or 'betrayed' by the god you devoted yourself to

Yes I know Gale is very monogamous, and I respect that. I, however, think he deserves TWO loving partners who dote on him wholeheartedly

The ship name for her and Gale is "Shockweave" and for all three of them its "Hell Raisers"

In a more non-canonical storyline/AU for her (despite her already being not canon, but y'know), she ends up siding with Raphael and eventually falling for him, fully knowing he can't 'love' back (but i beg to differ, imo, but i wont get into that here lmao)

In the timeline where she sides with Raph, I'm leaning toward her becoming a devil herself as a method of defeating Hyde and ridding herself of her curse / her mothers' contract

Some misc things about her:

Before her magic was suppressed by Hyde, she was exceptional at Lightning magic - thus I gave her a lightning motif/theme. Her brother has a Thunder motif, together making them the "Storm Siblings"!

Proficient with finesse weapons (namely a rapier) and also flintlock pistols! Also crossbows, namely hand crossbows

Her rapier is enchanted to absorb lightning, both natural and magical, and fling it back at her opponents in either a strong single line, or a swooping range attack, depending on how she swings the rapier. She calls it The Lightning Rod, and her pistol is Shockwave

Tried to sing once as a kid, since Eilistraee's teachings encourage it, but embarrassed herself pretty badly and refused to sing again afterward, especially after her brother did much better than her. Even though she might be better now as an adult, she still refuses to sing around anyone, and rarely ever sings even when shes alone. She still loves to dance, though. I can also see her taking up piano or flute as a hobby

If it weren't for laws, she'd be fine with going topless often

She and her brother have fluffy tail tips! Though, shes a bit insecure about it, as in the past kids would make fun of it and call it a 'cows tail'

Wears a sharp, slightly curved blade at the end of her tail to aid her both in battle, and to hold onto the ship posts when she uses her tail to keep balance when climbing/walking them (and to also hide her tail tip)

Enchanted compass tattoo on her right arm, which unfortunately stops working when her curse begins

Full-spine tattoo of a sea serpent that wraps a but around the base of her tail, to commemorate her crews first victory over one

In the AU where she becomes a devil, I like to think her 'ascended' form is sea-serpent-like, and her hair morphs into a storm cloud

Alcoholic; she lessens up on it during the events of BG3, but dives right back into it after finding out about her mothers contract

Very long, slightly emotional post incoming.

One key thing that I am very grateful to Brandi Carlile for is her decountrymusicestablishmentification of Brandy Clark. (Rare moment here where I refer to artists by their actual full names, lol). Brandy Clark has a very special place in my heart as three things: a) my first ever crush, b) the first ever gay representation I had in the music I love and build my life around, and c) my first ever inspiration to write songs. She was and is a formative influence on my whole life since a very young age and I would take a bullet for her.

Firstly, they first met writing A Beautiful Noise (nominated for song of the year). And then they promptly got nominated for aNOTHER Grammy for fucking Same Devil the first time they EVER recorded anything together. Those two songs are undoubtedly the closest BC(Y) has ever gotten into anything that doesn't sit well with the country music establishment. If that does not say something I don't know what does.

Also, I've noticed that as soon as BC(Y) and BC(I) started really being around each other a lot, BC(Y) basically stopped wearing dresses, ever, even when she's by herself. She did for most of her career and I always thought she looked very suffocated in them like she would really rather not, but she didn't think she had a choice. And now she pretty much always wears suits and she looks so much happier and more comfortable, which for the aformentioned reasons occasionally makes me tear up a little bit, lol.

Also, on the last album (BC(I)-produced), the songwriting sounds less . . . manufactured and Nashvillesongwriter-y than it had on her previous albums (which were obviously still great, but you could kind of hear that BC(Y) was still in a headspace of being a songwriter trying to get a song cut on a record by someone like Miranda Lambert, and not quite thinking of herself as an artist in her own right). On this one, it's very much not like that. And BC(Y) has said very clearly on multiple occasions that this is largely thanks to BC(I). (See: "I don't like that yoga line." "Why?" "I don't think you would do yoga." "I don't, I hate yoga." "Well then why is it in the song?!") (Also see: "I want everything I do to be in service to the song." "I get that, and I respect it, but this time, I think you should try to be in service to the artist.") (Also also see: "Why did you pick these specific songs to go on the record?" "I picked the ones that sounded most like you had written them in your bedroom.")

And in regards to that one, some of these were songs that BC(Y) had had just sitting around for YEARS that she very much thought no one, including herself, was ever going to get to record for that exact reason, because they didn't sound like things that came out of a writing room in Nashville fucking Tennessee. And these are the BEST FUCKING SONGS BC(Y) has ever written and the best songs by far to be released in the world/vicinity of country in years. And BC(I) very much saw all of this, and in her bullheaded but loving BC(I) way, said "fuck no". And then BC(Y) named the album after herself completely unprompted by BC(I).

This is the one that really makes me cry, a lot: In the bridge of Dear Insecurity, which BC(Y) sings, she refers to someone romantically using the word "she". And this was pointed out during an interview and she said she didn't even think about it. It wasn't a Thing. Neither she nor BC(I) nor anyone else in the studio ever even mentioned it. They just recorded that way because a lesbian wrote it and two lesbians were singing it, so obviously that's the way the song is. And this gets me every time I listen to this song because on all of BC(Y)'s previous work, even when she was singing songs that she wrote about her own life, she changed the pronoun to "he" because she just had to. That's the way things are done if you want to have any chance of getting into mainstream country. BC(Y) is absolutely not thinking like that anymore and she looks so much happier every time I see her and again, a lot of that is the product of BC(I)'s influence.

(Also noted that BC(Y) wrote the song as a duet but just automatically assumed the other voice would be a man because that's how it is. BC(I) did not process this in the slightest, decided it was Lucinda Williams, did the scratch vocal for Lucinda, and then BOTH BCs immediately spent, like, a week trying to figure out how to ask the other if actually, BC(I) could sing the other part of the song. This is the most lesbian story I have ever heard.)

you might recall Anthy from my "Feelings" pixel art doodle — see my art tag "#anfey care" here on my blog to find it —, they're the personification of my emotional side. Seth is the personification of my rational side, and San is the one of the instinctive side — also is the one who has access to the physical world, 'cause they take the physical part of my identity itself with the instincts and related things. in this idea, Safey is the subconscious, also being the will while at it — what makes them the one who at times takes control without telling the others, sometimes not even making themself visible to the rest, who then don't really have a clue where the control is coming from (after all... subconscious side)

in this, Anfey is the name of the main three (Anthy, Seth and San) together — the instinctive side usually just takes their name with the body ksjkks, as in directly from the physical world, so they can go by Anfey, but San also comes from this; they're kinda the "laziest" one (this is actually just them being the most tired for... some reason). the main three often refer to themselves by "we", as they often influence eachother deeply even if they're afar, and are practically always together — Safey counts in these too, but they rarely talk to the others

it's basically a personification of facets of my identity, whose live in another plane (their "world"), with two of them having access to different planes (San has to the physical, almost like being at both planes at the same time, and Safey kinda has a "world" of their own, separately, as their own story — not really part of this specific personification idea, though it fits with "the will creature" idea, and they still can travel between both realities, but that's as my mascot persona, not as my subconscious persona). there is some other character/s ideas too, but they're not a "part of identity" persona, not even just a persona of me, they're just a personification thing that could "pretend to be" somehow kjskks (maybe like a shapeshifter. they turn into anything that could cause suffering... who knows). i still don't have a name for this project idea, but i've been thinking about something related to identity and headspace

Someone commented on TikTok asking me to list the first 3 Steps toward getting grounded. Here's a concept :

Reclaiming Reality

Many times we tap out of our center, disconnect from our roots and disassociate from reality without even knowing it. We lose ground, so we have to RECLAIM our REALITY. This is a practice that can be implemented to maintain an inner knowing of what's real and true, create a space for restoration, nourishment and balance no matter what's going on in the external. There are so many ways to do this, but the first 3 Steps to creating a grounding practice & reclaiming your reality I would recommend are :

GETTING OFF THAT FUCKING PHONE

lmaooooo I know we hate to see it but, its just what your ancestors have been trying to tell you for so long. It's what my ancestors tell me too. It's what our souls need.

By starring at screens all day, what we're actually doing is focusing on someone/something external that ultimately has little to do with our own reality. We give our energy, power & focus away for free when we could be doing much more intentional things. Yeah babe, I know you get inspired by what you see. I know you get motivated. I know you wanna see the latest tea. But getting off our phones and more importantly logging off social medias will solve about 50% of the lack of ground you may experience in this present day & age. Getting of your phone will also help you reclaim your reality because you will be focused on what/who is directly around you. The things that you're unsatisfied with you will begin to think about how to change it vs. living vicariously through influencers and people promoting whatever trendy lifestyle is viral across social media. You will experience a boost in creativity because you won't be hyper-focused on what people are promoting you to do/be/sell/buy. You will become more authentic. You will reclaim your imagination, your third eye, your crown, your headspace. You will hear your intuition more clearly. And soon your life will be filled with things that don't require you to really use your phone so much unless you choose to...

2. Schedule something(s) repetitive (daily/weekly/monthly)

One of the toughest things I've faced during and post pandemic (if we truly can even say we're post pandemic) is the challenges of being unemployed. The most valuable lesson I've learned from being unemployed for a collective period of 2 years : A routine or schedule is essential, but even more, having rituals that are unrelated to work or hardcore productivity is key! We don't just need a work schedule. We need a self care routine, creative routine, workout routine, spiritual routine, time cut out for loved ones and socializing. It's not about being a control freak and planning every moment of your days. In fact, you have the power to cancel your own plans and say "I'm not feeling that today", but at the least, having a schedule of events that produce joy and a multitude of other experiences can help with grounding and reclaiming your life and reality. When I didn't have a full time job taking a chunk of my day, I had no clue what to do with myself 10+ hours daily. This added to my growing anxiety, depression, grief and more. In the time I was unemployed I would drown myself in meditation, self improvement activities & spiritual work like journaling, reading, learning,etc. to help me control the spiral I was on, but I realized being in my head so much was actually contributing to my lack of ground. There's nothing wrong with meditation, self improvement activities & spiritual work. However, there should be proper time, space & balance as stated prior. Sometimes the meditation/self improvement/healing and spiritual gems are in the application or getting back out there. It's in that daily walk/run, cooking, spending time with people, visiting shops, treating yourself to cosmetics and grooming, seeing a movie, listening to music, challenging yourself to try new things on a regular basis, dedicating yourself to a schedule that helps you create a life you can enjoy RIGHT NOW! I challenge you to pencil activities you both NEED & WISH to do into your daily life and watch how the magic of scheduling and ritual creation changes your life, pumps power back into your being and helps you to be grounded & balanced.

3. Spending More Time Alone

Sometimes you're not grounded, your reality is warped & you've disassociated from your truth because you're no longer centered. You can't think of the last time you took a full day to yourself. You may always be surrounded by people from work, to family, friends & associates of these different communities. You also may share your living space. At times it can feel like it's impossible to be alone. That is until you start doing it. You don't have to take a 5 Star vacation to get the quality alone time you need. You just have to create space and set boundaries with yourself. What will that alone time look like, feel like, smell like, sound like, what will it be filled with? Is it simply uninterrupted rest? You will have to first carve out time to see what alone time calls from you. Sometimes alone time is at the gym. Sometimes its in a creative spell. When we are alone we can regulate, unclog, unstimulate, gain clarity and more. An overstimulated, busy body is not grounded. Find your center.
