The best part is when they inngoge the actual beacons of privilege: I.e the billiaroire and the milllaity and then government white guy who was able to lead an invasion into a foreign town and then sick a crazed soldier onto Harlem as well as run an illegal experiment and was still able to become Secretary of State, the guy might as be a Republican!

The idea that people think Steve Rogers is some beacon of privilege is so strange to me. He was conceptualized as the antithesis of all that — a disabled, poverty stricken son of Irish Catholic immigrants (not a big deal now, but they faced a lot of xenophobia back then). Of course, Steve did have certain privileges such as being white (sure, he likely faced xenophobia, but let's be real he could easily pass for not being Irish if he wanted), but the idea that he would be on board with bigotry is laughable. Sure, he may have some internalized biases to work through — we all have that. But he'd still be against bigotry in all its forms.

Steve Rogers didn't become Captain America because he blindly follows the whims of the American government. Actually, he's shown that he refuses to do that on several occasions. He became Captain America because he wanted to help the little guy, the people who were being bullied. There is no doubt in my mind that he would stand up against bigotry every chance he got.

Team Iron man fans saying that Steve was wrong for not telling Tony that Bucky killed his parents but honestly, seeing how Tony handled finding out about it, I wouldn't have told him either. Tony was already willing to throw bucky into prison or an institution IMAGINE what he would've done if he found out bucky killed his parents while they still had him in custody. Steve was doing what he always has done, protect Bucky.

People openly supporting the revenge killing of a man who had NO control over his life for the past 70 years and wasn't even conscious for the majority of it because of something he did WHILE BRAINWASHED is insane to me.

what’s funny to me is that so many ppl at tony’s funeral hated him. like they’re canonically enemies. tony has very personally made a lot of their lives worse just by existing (raft prison, war profiteering, sokovia accords, blasted a few of them, shot another one, made ultron, was an asshole). I’m assuming for most of them there it was more of a relieved “thank god he’s dead I’m just making sure he doesn’t get out of that casket” rather than a “I’m actually sad rn” which is v fitting

The difference between Steve and Tony in CA:CW will always boil down to this:

Tony stands up to authority because he was born into immense wealth and privilege and has never had to answer to anyone. He defies authority because he knows he'll never have to face actual consequences for doing so.

Steve stands up to authority because he was born into poverty and grew up a poor, disabled Irish-American during the Great Depression. He defies authority because he knows what it's like to be dismissed, undervalued, and disenfranchised and never wants anyone to face that.

Tony pushed for the accords because he knew he could just break them and nothing would happen to him (which is exactly how it went down).

Steve refused to sign the accords because he would never sign away his human rights and the rights of other people to an authority he knew would abuse them (which, again, is exactly what happened).

So in a way, they were both right about the accords. Tony was just also infinitely more wrong.

I feel like the main 6 Avengers actually had really bad character development in Avengers Endgame because Clint didn’t really do anything, Bruce’s arc was skipped over, Natasha was killed off, Tony died even though it wasn’t necessary, Thor’s struggles where made into a joke and Steve left Bucky and all of his teammates to be with Peggy in past

A lot things that happened in Avengers Endgame felt more like character regressions instead of going forward

It is wild, as they say, that after 9 years, holding that Tony was morally wrong to try to murder Bucky in Civil War is still a controversial position.

Are Tony fans really such a morality void that they have to condone murder and revenge-killing.

Just rewatched Captain America: Civil War and its so fucking obvious how wrong Tony is at all points throughout the film. So here is a list of shit he does in the movie that pisses me off extra (not im chronological order):

- Signs the Sokovia accords and then hunts down his buddies for breaking, AND THEN HE BREAKS THEM HIMSELF. Also he forces everyone to sign the accords due to the guilt he feels.

- Blackmails a 15 year old into fighting two super-soldiers and a girl who controls matter (not exactly sure what her powers are but you know that im talking about Wanda).

- Locks Wanda up in the compound against her will.

- Asks Vision to shoot down Sam, Vision misses and hits Rhodey. Then he gets mad at Sam and shoots him in the chest when he comes down to check on him. Like that shot was meant for Sam and it would probably have hurt him so much more, seeing as he is not in full armor, and I strongly doubt that Tony would have stopped and checked on Sam.

- And then he attacks Bucky like crazy after finding out he killed his parents, which would be completely valid and understandable except for the fact that Bucky did it under mind control. Which Steve tells him.

- And then theres the end fight, where he is doing anything but pulling his punches, maybe hes pulling them a little for Steve (I wouldn’t be too sure of that). He shoots his blaster thingies at their bare skin.

Look i used to be a Tony fan, and then i grew up. I know that not everyone agrees, but these are the problems that i find with him in this movie.

I'm just gonna say it. I hate Irondad so much. The fact that the mcu erased Peter's true hero and father figure, UNCLE BEN from the movies will always piss me off thr highest levels of pisstivity!!

There's so many people Peter has hero worship for before Tonky Stank. Cap, Daredevil, Johnny Storm, Bruce Banner and Reed Richards!!

Not making Steve or Bruce his father/mentor figure was so dumb. Steve and Peter have similar backstory and the most in common when it comes to being a hero and morals. Especially mcu Peter and Steve

I'm sorry but I'll never love the irondad/ ironboy Jr dynamic and I'm glad Tony is dead and Peter can finally be Peter Parker/Spiderman and not be tied to Tony all the time

Maturing is realising that Tony and Peter's relationship in the MCU while it usually gets covered by Irondad fluff, was in fact built on Tony manipulating Peter's idealization of him and wanting to keep his identity secret into fighting a battle that a 14/15 year old should have never been a part of.

And when said kid gets hurt—because of his stupid ass decision—he ignores, devalues and doesn't communicate with Peter, leading to him believing he's not good enough because of his guilt. Kinda just like Howard did with Tony.

Not denying Tony came to actually care and love Pete as a son eventually.

It's just that the start of this relationship was not as wholesome and cutesy like the irondad fandom at the time liked to make it out to be.

to celebrate 8 years since civil war release, let’s review all the ways tony stark was an absolute loser and actually the reason thanos won in infinity war:

created an omnicidal A.I. that the rest of the team warned him against creating

decided that the entire team needed to become government puppets because he felt guilty for creating said A.I. that, once again, NO ONE SUPPORTED HIM IN MAKING

(also the reason bucky was forced back into the fight bc tony caused sokovia and thus caused zemo’s need for revenge but i digress on that pt)

when members of the team who can’t disconnect from their abilities raised concerns about how the accords dehumanized them, he had them arrested or locked them in his tower

bribed (yes, bribed) a child into fighting on his side because he knew he was outmatched

instructed vision to shoot sam out of the sky and then shot sam point-blank when he avoided the blast that would’ve left him severely injured AND LANDED TO HELP THE PERSON IT HIT

wanda on the raft. this is its own point. he let her be restrained and collared like a fucking DOG as if he hadn’t already done enough damage in her life (killing her parents & brother)

proceeded to break the accords THAT HE HELPED WRITE to chase cap across the globe because he felt left out of the action

blamed a brainwashed pow for BEING FORCED to kill the starks AGAINST HIS WILL and proceeded to BLOW HIS ARM OFF and ATTEMPT TO KILL HIM DESPITE KNOWING THAT NONE OF IT WAS HIS CHOICE

mocked natasha’s trauma because she dared to disagree with his methods (he is, in fact, incapable of letting go of his ego for one goddamn second)

even after receiving an apology, refused to contact cap for three years despite KNOWING about the threat of thanos

I'm tired of people saying Steve should've chosen Tony over Bucky or people try and say that Tony and Steve's relationship was better than Steve and Bucky's.

Bucky and Steve had each other since they were kids. They've always had each other's backs. They defended each other, lived together, and fought together. They were everything to each other. Bucky always helped Steve.

Tony and Steve's relationship reminds me of coworkers who don't really like each other. Because that's what they are. Coworkers, friends at best. Tony would actively go out of his way to make fun of Steve in some cases. They were genuinely annoyed with each other's existence from what I've seen.

Tony would never have the relationship with Steve that Steve had with Bucky. Tony, or anybody in general (minus Sam) could ever understand the relationship those two had.

So of course Steve would choose the man who was with him through everything. In his own words, "Even when I had nothing I had Bucky." It was Steve's turn to help bucky. And he was going to help bucky no matter what.

when u sit back n think about it……. marvel’s main billionaire was a war profiteer who turned himself into a weapon and sought fame & glory. dc’s main billionaire poured money into every nook and cranny of his city (arts, education, free health care, scientific research, soup kitchens, criminal rehabilitation, transportation) but when the system proved to be too corrupt, hid in the shadows to protect those who the cops, politicians, and laws would not. I feel like we as a community don't take enough advantage of the obsessed fan! Peter Parker trope enough in Starker content

I'm talking the toxic levels we had in the early 2000's. He gets obsessed at around 10 and develops a crush on Tony- handsome and smart? package deal! He runs a somewhat popular blog and is one of the first 'daily tony stark pics' accounts to grace the internet.

But then he starts paying attention to the news and headlines. Sees old magazines and newspapers of Tony Stark with random strangers, sees magazines claiming he was going off the deep end, journalists making quick bucks to talk shit not only about Tony's addictions, but his relationships too. He goes off on people daily, to the point May and Ben take away his devices for awhile because he's obviously getting frustrated by them.

Doesn't stop him from sneaking into the computer labs at school to continue- and it only gets worse when the avengers get more light.

Articles claiming Stark is in it for fame get reposted with paragraphs of foul language talking about Stark's contributions- not only to the planet, but to the team as well. Articles talking about the man's aging are met with thousands of photos of Tony calling him handsome and an angel on earth. He's constantly arguing with people online and when the world tried blaming Ultron on Tony? Well, Peter went on a hunger strike that only ended because of him getting bit by the spider.

As a hero it's even worse. With his heightened sense comes an almost hairpin trigger to his emotions. He's quick to anger and directs it to arguing with people online. Saving people does help, but nothing truly calms him like coming home, ready to go post online and seeing the Tony Stark on his couch with his Aunt. He nearly screams, nearly runs over to excitedly ask him every question he had ever had.

But then he's being flown to Germany and actually getting to fight for Tony- for his defenses of the man to actually be seen and acknowledged by the man he had been following online for years.

He never does question if Tony ever just googled his name, or if the man who can hack into literally any fire wall could figure out his social media accounts- which all had something about Tony Stark on them

Can we talk about how cute it is that Peter thought Tony was that tall for the bunny ears?

And also... does that mean they didn't plan at all to do bunny ears to each other? I mean, if they had planned it, Peter would have checked to see if he was doing them right.

So that means that originally the photo was going to be with Tony's arm around Peter's back, and Peter's arm around Tony's shoulders.

These two will never stop making me cry.
