Alhaitham was more or less comfortable with his life before he met Kaveh. Sure, he wasn't jumping for joy every second, but it was good enough. After his grandmother passed, he no longer felt any vibrant emotions. Even if Alhaitham never made that connection himself, while he wasn't entirely miserable, he wasn't necessarily happy either.

And then he met Kaveh. Emotional, vibrant, cheerful Kaveh.

Unlike him, Kaveh felt every emotion at one hundred percent, and was extremely expressive, which may have been a little off-putting for Alhaitham at first. But, before he knew it, he found himself to be quite comfortable with Kaveh. More than comfortable. In fact, it was only with Kaveh when Alhaitham's lips would turn upwards ever so slightly.

It was only after their falling out when Alhaitham realized...

He was....happy, with Kaveh. An emotion so foreign he only recognizes it when his presence had been stripped away.

It was only when Kaveh had moved into his house, the one they had technically gotten together, when he felt that feeling rush through him once again. Even as they argued, even as Kaveh called him frustrating, Alhaitham couldn't help but enjoy every second of it.

Kaveh, a few months into their newly-found relationship would point out that Alhaitham never really seemed happy back in their Akademiya days.

Alhaitham answered simply, not looking up from his book;

"The only time I've ever truly been happy was when I was with you."
