I want to be bit clearer about this by the way, because I've seen this circulating recently and I wasn't clear enough about the context.

By the time Anne Frank was sent to the concentration camps, they were in fact full on death camps. There were gas chambers and ovens and mass executions. And the official policy of them was to murder anybody the Nazis considered undesirable, whatever they said to the public.

However, that is not what killed Anne Frank. What killed Anne Frank is the exact same conditions which existed in the concentration camps before the first Nazi mass execution of Jewish prisoners ever occurred. Because how the concentration camps started is that they were just that, camps to concentrate people in ... while awaiting deportation (or for political prisoners, more permanent internment). Yes, awaiting deportation. Concentration camps started because the Nazis were genuinely trying to deport people to other countries, not murder them, deport them, and logistically and politically could not make it happen.

So existing detention centers overflowed, and they made additional centers and temporary confinement to handle it. And obviously conditions were terrible, and underfunding was rampant, and people started dying of exposure and disease.

Hey just like has been happening in the United States concentration camps in significant numbers on the border for almost a decade now. Just like the family child separation policy has done to children.

Now the Nazis being fucking Nazis, camp officials who spent the least money were lauded and made a model for the rest, and at some point it started to become tacitly part of the program that if they cut costs enough costs would naturally fall even further. Because the people they were imprisoning died. This created a cycle of desensitization and dehumanization among prison guards, as they found justifications why this was not just okay but a good thing, and guards who couldn't convince themselves of that were self-selected out of being concentration camp guards. The end result of which was a spiraling escalation of neglect and violence and overt discussion of how they were killing "undesirables", until eventually they were overtly discussing and following through on naked mass murder.

Now it's a matter of some debate as to whether this was always the plan from the very beginning, or how far back it was the plan. Was it the plan from the first moment Germany declared it would be deporting "undesirables" that this would end in genocide? I don't know, and I also don't know that it matters. Because this is simply how such policies play out. If the Nazis were planning the scope and scale of the Holocaust from the beginning, it only means that they accurately understood the logistical and social dynamics of attempted mass deportation.

But the part I cannot emphasize enough is that Anne Frank did not die in a gas chamber. She wasn't shot. She died of typhus. The exact same thing which killed Jewish people in concentration camps before they were ever death camps: exposure and disease. The exact same thing which killed migrant children in Trump's first term, which killed them during Biden's presidency as well.

The same thing which is going to start killing people in the massive tent city concentration camps for migrants Trump is already constructing. If you only start taking lessons from Anne Frank's story once migrants are being put into gas chambers, you learned the wrong lesson. This shit doesn't start with the first officially sanctioned execution. It starts with the first people who just don't get care while they are being penned in like animals.

Yes, It Is Just Like The Nazis

Hey so remember Anne Frank? The Jewish young girl who hid in an attic and was killed by the Nazis? The emblematic person we think of when we think of victims of the Holocaust? 

She did not die in a gas chamber or in a death camp. She died in a ‘temporary’ detention center for the mass deportations which preceded the death camps. She was in that camp because a patriotic neighbor ratted her out to the German deportation force. She died, not of a bullet to the back of the head or choking on gas, but of typhus. She contracted typhus because the Nazis couldn’t realistically deport people at the rate they wanted to, because before the death camps their infrastructure couldn’t handle the sudden influx of ethnic minorities they had decided to imprison, and because they didn’t care about the consequences of that so their deportation detention centers were unhygienic and prisoners were underfed and overcrowded. 

And she was picked up by the deportation force not because she was an illegal citizen but because, just like the US is doing with asylum seekers, she was part of a formerly recognized class of citizens who were legally redefined to lack citizenship by a new administration. 

Anne Frank is exactly like the children who have already died in the United State’s detention camps. Exactly. Down to the very last detail. There. Is. Not. A. Single. Difference. 

So unless you want to fucking tell me that Anne goddamn Frank was not a victim of the Holocaust, y’all can shut the fuck up with that “stop making concentration camp comparisons, you’re diminishing the suffering of the Holocaust�� bullshit.

Okay, without trying to take away from the joy we are feeling, we must stay vigilant. This ceasefire deal is 3 phases, the first is a 42 day pause for hostage exchange which is set to start on SUNDAY, as long as Netanyahu’s cabinet signs off on it. The IOF is not expected to fully retreat from Gaza, but stay to ‘mandated zones’. Palestinians are meant to be able to return to their homes, but with Israeli soldiers still there, this is not a guarantee. The 600 aid trucks a day into Gaza during this 42 day phase 1 is still not enough.

THIS IS NOT OVER. We do not know the details of phase 2 and 3, and nothing has been agreed for these phases in writing. We must not get complacent in this moment of respite. Please, do not stop fighting. This is not over until every Palestinian can return home, until the occupation is gone, until all of Palestine is free.

Keep protesting and campaigning, keep donating because aid organisations need all the help they can get, especially in the next 6 weeks, and it might be the only window people get to evacuate. This is a step in the right direction, but it is not over.

you can still celebrate black history month, hispanic heritage month, aapi month, etc to preserve the written and oral histories of these diverse cultures. you can donate and frequent museums and other venues who will likely have their funding pulled for doing just that. you can amplify gay and lesbian stories and lives and volunteer at organizations dedicated to HIV research and defending marriage equality, or even just celebrating same-sex love. you can feed your community whenever you’d like. you can help your immigrant neighbors find work, housing, and a village. you can offer rides to the elderly and babysit the children of working parents in your neighborhood. you can tutor them and make sure they have access to the histories the american school system will try to ignore. you can provide medicine and transportation to women who need reproductive care. you can read feminist texts, create female solidarity, and encourage the women and girls in your life to take up space and not shrink in times like this. you can support independent journalists and keep the mainstream ones you trust alive. you can show up for artists creating diverse stories and perspectives and amplify their works. you can help fund and create your own independent media channels and networks. you can band together to put a down payment on a house and enjoy it together with people you love, even if it's 6 of you to one place. you can carpool and split the cost of gas and car repairs. you can share your metro card. you can go out of your way to patronize small businesses just because they’re bisexual-owned, native american owned, disabled-owned, or whatever you relate to and find community in. you can ask to donate to them to help offset rising costs of rent and inventory. you can frequent libraries and check out books on controversial topics and experiences other than your own so they can preserve funding, or you can buy their stock to keep these books circulating should they be affected too. you can pay off lunch debts at k-12 schools and make meals for the children in your community so they don’t have to worry about going hungry when they should be studying. you can buy in bulk from costco or sam’s club and share or donate where you can. you can take student and professional clubs for affinity groups off the threatened campuses and workplaces and into something accessible like the park, an online forum, or even a living room to keep them alive. you can offer to help clean the homes of your elderly/disabled neighbors or even just let the theater kids throw a production of “dreamgirls” in your backyard because somebody’s ornery peepaw accused it of being CRT propaganda and got it shut down.

you can take care of each other. you don’t need the backing or funding of the government to preserve, honor, or amplify the humanity and heritage of those around you. all this waffling about not owing anybody anything and small talk with strangers being ableist and bourgeoisie needs to stop yesterday. no one is coming to save us. get serious and mitigate harm where you can. see about your people and do it often

my mother is absolutely convinced of some nonsense conspiracy theory that (in her words) "originally humanity lived in peaceful all-woman societies of goddess worshippers who took care of eachother and lived in harmony, while males were roving loners that had no society and never cooperated. that changed when the men banded together and overthrew the peaceful woman-dominated societies, and enslaved us all." and, according to her, this is proof that a woman-dominated world would be innately more peaceful, and that men are innately violent and evil and should be either barred from holding any legal power or leadership roles or at least should be (again in her words) "gelded like bulls" to remove their testosterone before even being considered for such a thing.

she also evidently believes that the problem with all religions today is primarily that they aren't "goddess worshippers", because she seems to think goddess religions are inherently peaceful and pure too and seems to be especially obsessed with "Isis" in particular. the very very few times she's openly considered it unambiguously bad for some population or another to have been exterminated (she's got a bad case of devil's advocating genocide brain), she's gone out of her way to make up some crap about how said people were a peaceful society of goddess-worshippers, almost always of isis. delusions of isis-worship seem to be the only thing that ever causes her to consider any arab or middle-eastern culture, society, or ethnicity to be relatively uncomplicatedly undeserving of extermination, in fact, because every fucking time she doesn't immediately start devils-advocating it and making remarks about how "the rest of the world should box them in and let them blow eachother up" it's when she's whinging on about how whatever specific micro-ethnicity she's thinking about are or were traditional persecuted isis-worshippers.

I’m sorry but if there is one thing the Tumblr left needs crucially, it’s the ability to celebrate.

I remember when marriage equality was called and there were waves of rainbows and love wins posts. When we successfully defeated Donald Trump, there was lukewarm relief, a reminder that you were only allowed one or maybe two days to celebrate and then it was back to work. That is if you were even a good person for voting Biden. We never did settle if he was better than Trump. (We did.). We didn’t celebrate student loan debt relief or any of the accomplishments of the Biden administration, or any of the times Trump was blocked, or other countries succeeding in keeping fascists out of office. Who cares if we had successes? It’s not good enough. Back to work!

And this anti-celebratory attitude stretches back to the past. On the 100th anniversary of female suffrage in America, we were reminded that not all women had the vote and so we weren’t allowed to celebrate. The only post I saw about Juneteenth was reminding us that there were enslaved people who were killed instead of freed and therefore celebrating the end of chattel slavery was wrong, and besides, we have prison labor so nothing really changed or got better and there’s nothing to celebrate anyway. Trans Day of Visibility comes with Trans Day of Remembrance so that people don’t fill the tags with hate crimes and death. So on and so forth. Nothing gets better. Nothing changes. Back to work!

So of course when we have a major setback, we fall apart and have to start frantic damage control. Frantic discourse ensues over how much people are allowed to unplug before it becomes bad and selfish. Yes, maybe you can have this one day off Mr. Cratchit but you better be here and miserable early the next morning. I will do all that I can to see that President Biden is re-elected. Why? Despite my disagreements with him on particular issues, he has been the most effective president in the modern history of our country and is the strongest candidate to defeat Donald Trump — a demagogue and pathological liar. It’s time to learn a lesson from the progressive and centrist forces in France who, despite profound political differences, came together this week to soundly defeat right-wing extremism.

I strongly disagree with Mr. Biden on the question of U.S. support for Israel’s horrific war against the Palestinian people. The United States should not provide Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing extremist government with another nickel as it continues to create one of the worst humanitarian disasters in modern history.

I strongly disagree with the president’s belief that the Affordable Care Act, as useful as it has been, will ever address America’s health care crisis. Our health care system is broken, dysfunctional and wildly expensive and needs to be replaced with a “Medicare for all” single-payer system. Health care is a human right.

And those are not my only disagreements with Mr. Biden.

But for over two weeks now, the corporate media has obsessively focused on the June presidential debate and the cognitive capabilities of a man who has, perhaps, the most difficult and stressful job in the world. The media has frantically searched for every living human being who no longer supports the president or any neurologist who wants to appear on TV. Unfortunately, too many Democrats have joined that circular firing squad.

Yes. I know: Mr. Biden is old, is prone to gaffes, walks stiffly and had a disastrous debate with Mr. Trump. But this I also know: A presidential election is not an entertainment contest. It does not begin or end with a 90-minute debate.

Enough! Mr. Biden may not be the ideal candidate, but he will be the candidate and should be the candidate. And with an effective campaign taht speaks to the needs of working families, he will not only defeat Mr. Trump but beat him badly. It’s time for Democrats to stop the bickering and nit-picking.

I understand that some Democrats get nervous about having to explain the president’s gaffes and misspeaking names. But unlike the Republicans, they do not have to explain away a candidate who now has 34 felony convictions and faces charges that could lead to dozens of additional convictions, who has been hit with a $5 million judgment after he was found liable in a sexual abuse case, who has been involved in more than 4,000 lawsuits, who has repeatedly gone bankrupt and who has told thousands of documented lies and falsehoods.

Supporters of Mr. Biden can speak proudly about a good and decent Democratic president with a record of real accomplishment. The Biden administration, as a result of the American Rescue Plan, helped rebuild the economy during the pandemic far faster than economists thought possible. At a time when people were terrified about the future, the president and those of us who supported him in Congress put Americans back to work, provided cash benefits to desperate parents and protected small businesses, hospitals, schools and child care centers.

After decades of talk about our crumbling roads, bridges and water systems, we put more money into rebuilding America’s infrastructure than ever before — which is projected to create millions of well-paying jobs. And we did not stop there. We made the largest-ever investment in climate action to save the planet. We canceled student debt for nearly five million financially strapped Americans. We cut prices for insulin and asthma inhalers, capped out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs and got free vaccines to the American people. We battled to defend women’s rights in the face of moves by Trump-appointed jurists to roll back reproductive freedom and deny women the right to control their own bodies.

So, yes, Mr. Biden has a record to run on. A strong record. But he and his supporters should never suggest that what’s been accomplished is sufficient. To win the election, the president must do more than just defend his excellent record. He needs to propose and fight for a bold agenda that speaks to the needs of the vast majority of our people — the working families of this country, the people who have been left behind for far too long.

At a time when the billionaires have never had it so good and when the United States is experiencing virtually unprecedented income and wealth inequality, over 60 percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, real weekly wages for the average worker have not risen in over 50 years, 25 percent of seniors live each year on $15,000 or less, we have a higher rate of childhood poverty than almost any other major country, and housing is becoming more and more unaffordable — among other crises.

This is the wealthiest country in the history of the world. We can do better. We must do better. Joe Biden knows that. Donald Trump does not. Joe Biden wants to tax the rich so that we can fund the needs of working families, the elderly, the children, the sick and the poor. Donald Trump wants to cut taxes for the billionaire class. Joe Biden wants to expand Social Security benefits. Donald Trump and his friends want to weaken Social Security. Joe Biden wants to make it easier for workers to form unions and collectively bargain for better wages and benefits. Donald Trump wants to let multinational corporations get away with exploiting workers and ripping off consumers. Joe Biden respects democracy. Donald Trump attacks it.

This election offers a stark choice on issue after issue. If Mr. Biden and his supporters focus on these issues — and refuse to be divided and distracted — the president will rally working families to his side in the industrial Midwest swing states and elsewhere and win the November election. And let me say this as emphatically as I can: For the sake of our kids and future generations, he must win.

You both are never sent on missions together 'cause you guys don't work well, pretty much nobody works well with him since he's the silent type.

Example, you two were hiding behind some crates ready to jump on the bad guys who were snucking in illegal drugs. He gestured for you to wait as he went to check again, only to turn back to see you gone.

He heard your voice shout and he found you standing on top of the stacked crates, machine gun in hand and began shooting aimlessly.

He didn't even do anything but just watch until you ran out of bullets. However, multiple survived and began shooting at you so you ended running towards where he's hiding at.

You know the video of the two girls taking off their wigs to reveal that they're bald and they start bonding over it? I'd like to imagine that's you and Black Noir with the skin condition under the suits.

One more scenario I wanna add, you guys could be having a meeting but since you were bored and you always hated meetings, you'd draw a big heart on a piece of paper and show it to Black Noir from across the table. Surprisingly he'd draw a heart back to you.

You were overjoyed so you began to draw you and him doing it, doggy style. He stares at your doodle for a while before choosing to just focus on the meeting instead.
