Oh the final rankings from the FRA long distance rail study came out

The top 4 proposed routes by the FRA are Houston-NYC, Chicago-Miami via Louisville, Dallas to NYC, and Detroit-New Orleans

Here are the summaries of the routes of each of them

Houston to New York would bring add Knoxville, Chattanooga, Auburn, and Montgomery to the Amtrak Network. It would also connect the first and 5th largest cities in America by a direct rail route and would take 43 hours end to end

Chicago to Miami would bring new service to Indianapolis and Atlanta as well as adding Columbus IN, Louisville, Bowling Green, Nashville and Chattanooga to the Amtrak Network. It would connect the 3rd and 9th largest cities in the US and take 36 hours end to end

Dallas to New York would add new service to Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, and Cincinnati as well as adding Tulsa, Terra Haute, Dayton OH, and Columbus OH to the Amtrak Network. It would connect the 1st and 4th largest cities in the US by rail and take 44 hours end to end

Detroit to New Orleans would bring new service to Toledo, Birmingham, and Cincinnati and add Louisville, Decatur, Nashville, Montgomery, Bowling Green, Springfield OH, Dayton OH, and Columbus, OH. It would connect the 14th and 58th largest cities in the US and take 29 hours end to end
