Fibromyalgia is the most critical look at the long term effects of trauma on children.
It was one of the first avenues we explored when trying to diagnose my chronic illness that rendered me in debilitating pain BEFORE I WAS EVEN 18 PEOPLE.
While Fibromyalgia is generally present, it remains dormant in the body until triggered, and outside factors in the environment hugely influence how and when it activates. Emotional trauma is believed to be one of, if not the largest contributors to Fibromyalgia activating and symptoms starting to manifest.
We view trauma through psychological repression and emotional damage that we forget the body keeps tabs, for a lot of us it becomes actual pain. For some of us, that happens when we are children. And in a society and school system that you either succeed or drown in, you’re useless if you can’t do anything because your mind and body is literally ravaged by the experiences that OTHER PEOPLE inflicted on you.
I took no risks as a child, I was afraid of getting hurt. I never experienced any significant bodily or head injuries as a child, never so much as a broken bone. Physical trauma is the other huge trigger for Fibromyalgia, so where’s that possibility? When was I a child long enough to get childhood injuries??
For them, it was a fleeting moment. For us, it closed the world.

the way i viscerally remember the feeling of sitting down in front of my laptop, watching an ig livestream, waiting for the first show of ltwt to start, on february 1st 2022. my nerves were through the roof. the excitement and overwhelm were entirely too much. and then he walked on stage... my eyes welled up.
look how far we've fucking come... we're so the greatest! we showed him, since that first show, that he will never be alone.

Album Review of the Week: She Wants Revenge - This Is Forever (2007) ✰✰✰ suggested by @lillzwantsrevenge
This week, we expand from last week by advancing deeper into She Wants Revenge's discography by exploring their second album This Is Forever. This is definitely one of those albums where you can tell the artistry has developed while not losing their original vibe - a good balance between the two which is often difficult to achieve.
Their debut album, while interesting to listen to for the most part, had a lot of the same sound and vocal tone throughout. In this album, they experimented with different melodies and vocal styles to make the listening experience a bit more varied.
First, Love is a dramatic intro with a moody piano riff - it sounds really cool and a lot different than the rest of the tracks. Definitely matches the darker look of this album art.
Written In Blood makes me realize that a lot of their lyrics are quite conversational which almost feels like reading a novel and imagining the scene as it develops. Sonically, it is not very exciting and a little one-note.
In True Romance, we begin to hear more of a change in sound. It sounds a touch less electronic and the vocals are not quite so monotone. It still sounds very Depeche Mode but things are getting more interesting! The beat is more dance-able than usual.
What I Want gets some fun energy going! There are some bouncy strings and a fun beat, almost radio friendly! It is fun how we can sense the development track by track. Each one is more interesting than the last.
She Will Always Be A Broken Girl reminds me a lot of These Things from the last album, the melodies are very similar. However, I quite enjoy the instrumental ambience here, lots of fun sounds going on!
This Is the End is another energetic standout, we even get some power vocals going on in the chorus! It drags on a little, but I'm still bopping after 5 minutes so not too bad.
Pretend the World Has Ended has some really great ambient instrumentals as well, very dramatic!
Rachael is another standout, it's not groundbreaking but it has their classic and appealing trancelike vibe. The pulsating drum at the end is a really nice touch as well.
With most tracks clocking in at 4-5 minutes each without much variety within them (bridges and such) this album does drag on although would serve great as background music - especially while working on a project to keep you energized and motivated. But, it is definitely an advancement from their last album and brings some more variety in the sound. The sound is very vampire nightclub.

sometimes I think too hard about like. how the ability to record audio fundamentally changed how humans interact with music. can you imagine if the only time you ever heard music in your whole life was when you or another human being in your actual physical presence decided to create it. and 99.99% of the time that person was not a professional but just like your wife or your dad or your co-worker or church choir singing or playing whatever they happened to know. i honestly don't think we can fathom it

I think one of the kindest things you can do for people with various mental health struggles is just... let people back into your life after they've been absent for a while.
Making friends as an adult is so fucking hard already and isolating yourself from other people is a very common symptom of depression, anxiety, burnout, ocd, trauma, grief, etc. Which means that someone will do the hard work of recovery/healing and resurface back into a world where their previous friends have written them off because they stopped showing up.
So if you know someone where you're like "yeah we could have been better friends but they fell off the map a bit" and that person suddenly reaches out, or starts showing up to events even though you kind of forgot they were still in the group chat... well they may have been Going Through It and you don't actually have to punish them for their absence you can just be glad that they're back.
