Deleted Tomarry fics

I've recently set up a Google Drive folder linking up to many deleted fics. I have a little hobby of tracking down great deleted fics and downloading them for my pleasure, and I'd say I've gotten pretty good at it tbh. I didn't realize I have so many now, so I set up a drive folder and decided to make it public.

I have it organised by author, so hopefully you can recognize the stuff. I'll put the names of the authors in the tags, and you're def gonna recognize them. People on twitter are already freaking out about everything I have lol. (P.S. ever heard of yours, in murder by May Marlow? Read it. Cuz I got it.)

So please enjoy my library of recovered fics. I also take requests if you want me to find a deleted fic of some sort. Altho be warned, my area of expertise is tomarry, but I'm sure I could still track down a few fics.

Edit: Btw I'm still adding fics to this folder. So if there's anything you're missing out on I suggest coming back to check every once in a while.

Ok imma give ya a small history lesson about fiction with a cool conclusion gimme the mic

So theres a lot of characters in older fiction who are so incredibly flawed you can’t help but hate and relate to them at the same time.

I remember a lot of stories I’ve read in literature class that the main character was just, bad. I didn’t like him, I didn’t think he was doing the right thing, I would often scrunch my tiny 12 year old face in annoyance while I read.

In general a lot of newer fiction involves a lot of characters who are righteous and good, and eventually save the day. That’s the kind of fiction the gets published- because most people like to read about a character who will be always in the right, even when making a mistake. Even horror stories have this a lot- though they are often the exception with the “saving the day” part.

You can see the difference from stories like that to older or shorter stories that got published in the paper. They were often talking about uncomfortable topics, or the main character was unlikeable.

I’m thinking about Peter Pan for example- if anyone read the book they would know that Peter and the Lost Boys are HORRIBLE children. The whole book is about the kind of mischief they get up to. What you might not know the so called mischief involves flat out murder. They often talked about it very casually- like it was part of a game, not the loss of a life. Also- Peter kills lost boys who grow up, because he doesn’t like it. Yeah. While a kid might think the book is awesome, a more mature mind might raise an eyebrow.

Anyway my point is that a lot of the more flawed main characters stopped showing up since publishers thought people wouldn’t want to read that kind of thing, especially after WWII and with the introduction to children rights. This obviously changed around 2000-2010ish, when the internet became more public, and children and adults alike became aware of a lot of the more morally flawed and strange aspects of society.

Especially with fandom interaction- and fanfiction. I don’t think I need to explain this one- we all know how fandoms are and the kind of people that you can stumble into.

Anyway i got really sidetracked- im trying to say that I agree with Op, and that a lot of people forget that fiction isn’t all about good and bad- something that I wish Tolkien could have internalised.

Sometimes fiction is about bad and bad. Good and good. Maybe non of the above- maybe, if you could consider the concept, maybe they are people. And they are complicated. And that’s not always ok morally, but it’s definitely ok in fiction.

y'know 'cause i love snape i have some ppl immediately launch all of snape's wrongs at me and i'm like "...yes?" and then they blink at me in confusion bc they expect me to defend snape and make him morally inculpable or something but listen. i don't love snape 'cause he's a pure li'l angel, i love him because he's deeply flawed, complicated, vicious, fucked up and almost constantly fucking up, and yet is still capable of loving deeply and of making enormous sacrifices.

i love voldemort too and the bloke was a mass murderer so uh. obviously i don't approve of mass murderers in real life. fiction though... who cares? i don't love characters 'cause they're good. their moral fibre has nothing to do with it. i love them 'cause they're interesting. voldemort's so damn campy to me it's hilarious.

do i think the marauders were awful bullies? yep. will that stop me from loving sirius for his brokenness? nope.

just constantly confused by ppl thinking morality has anything to do with good writing or good characters--not morally "good" perhaps but well-written and interesting nonetheless.

like why tf should morality have any influence on the characters i love?? they're fictional lol it's not like what they did or ought to do has any impact on the real world. there's nothing problematic about a character (or a ship). love who you love and ignore the haters.

A reminder to everyone and especially to myself that you can be terrible at something, and that’s not a bad thing.

I still have not managed to complete a genocide run in undertale. What’s worse- I’m stuck at Undyne. Not sans. I’ve never even gone past waterfall in genocide. But that’s ok. I will continue to fail miserably :)
