"You did mention that your retainers are sword spirits that have gained human forms, right? So that'd make them a tsukumogami type youkai..." Perhaps that explains why they wear such strange attire, as one cannot apply the logic of a youkai's nature to humans. "...but how did it work on the first place? I always thought a tsukumogami wouldn't be this..." Briefly, the miko steals a glance at a strikingly tall raven-haired figure in the terrace who has the appearance of a kannushi*.

"...Beautiful."

I saw a nikasani ship meme on pixiv and wanted to do one for Hazuki and her swords. I’m going with this one because it has more info but I’ll throw in some topics from the jp one and some other eng ones I found

Big vs little spoon

Most of the time, it’s Hazuki as the little spoon for both ships but she tries to be the big spoon when she’s asking for something. It works fine with Nikkari since he’s about the same height as her but it just makes Shoku laugh when she tries to be the big spoon with him

Lends vs borrows clothes

Hazuki can wear Nikkari’s coats without much of an issue and they wouldn’t look too big on her. But because her chest is bigger than his, they won’t button/zip up and wearing his shirts is impossible. She does give him her winter scarves and earmuffs when it’s cold since he (weak to cold) needs them more than she (weak to heat) does. Nikkari can’t fit her gloves/mittens though since his hands are bigger than hers

She can, however, wear the white robe Nikkari uses as a cape. It fits her perfectly, actually. This has caused some rumours about a ghost in the citadel when one night, she left Nikkari’s room to grab a drink while wearing nothing but the robe, then fled when she heard someone approaching

Shoku’s shirts fit her better but they’re still uncomfortable since her chest is still bigger than his!! She can’t wear his blazer or jacket since they’d be way too big/tall on her, but he likes seeing her wear his tracksuit jacket as an oversized coat

Shoku and all the other burnt swords are also weak to heat so he and Hazuki are perfectly fine in the cold. No scarf borrowing is necessary. Shoku rarely is unprepared when it comes to clothes (both his own and reminding everyone else), so in the rare occasion where the weather turns harsher than expected, it would be Shoku giving Hazuki his scarf

Names / Pet names

Hazuki drops all the honorifics with her swords as a point to assert her status, first overcompensating because she wasn’t sure if she was good enough to be a saniwa, then out of habit/confidence because she’s used to it. Usually sticks to first name + no honorifics, but there are exceptions

It’s only when she meets someone who calls a sword a certain way (Shoku and “Sada-chan”, Hori and “Kane-san") first that she goes along with it

So she calls Nikkari and Shokudaikiri by name without honorifics… in public

Both Shoku and Nikkari call her “Hazuki-chan” in public. Nikkari drops the -chan when they’re alone together and Shoku drops it when their relationship starts. Despite Shoku’s avoidance of PDA and their relationship being a secret, him calling her by her name like this tells everyone how close they are but he’s let it slip so many times that be doesn’t bother to catch himself anymore

Hazuki’s pet name in the citadel is Bunny and Nikkari calls her that when he’s playing around and trying to get a rise out of her. Shoku used to tease her with it as well, but now avoids it. Not only does it remind her of Nikkari, but also everyone she lost in The Raid

Hazuki calls Nikkari ��Nika” or “Nikki” and Shoku “Sho” but these won’t appear in the HFL because I don’t write explicit scenes LOL. She sometimes lets them slip when they’re alone together though so they might come up idk

Aside from the names being shortened, she doesn’t call them any cute nicknames because I haven’t thought of any yet lol

Introvert vs extrovert

For the most part, Hazuki is an introvert with a limited social battery but she is able to step up as a saniwa when needed. She just needs time alone to recharge afterwards. When push comes to shove, she can give direct, no-nonsense commands and as she grows more comfortable in her position as head of the citadel and war general, her voice rises above the rest

Shoku is an extrovert in the sense that his social battery charges while being with other people, but he is rather subdued in the citadel. But on the battlefield? That’s his home turf and where he truly shines. He commands his team with ease and leads them with charm and charisma, and isn’t shy about expressing how much fun he has while killing

Nikkari is an extrovert in the sense that he likes playing pranks on other people. But he is rather subdued and calculating on the battlefield. He is able to see the ghosts that roam the citadel and especially the battlefield while the other swords can’t, so him being quiet isn’t tied to him being an introvert or an extrovert. He’s quiet because he’s living in two worlds at the same time

Affection through words vs actions

All three are bad with words lmao wow

Hazuki has her issues but even after she deals with them, she can’t communicate any deep feelings through words. Surface feelings? Sure. But most of the time, she’s expressions affection through touch (hand holding, arm touches, hair ruffles)

Shoku has a hard time voicing his feelings before the relationship starts but after going through so much trauma with Hazuki over the years, when everything settles down, he freely voices his affection and says everything to her he’s always wanted to say… when they’re in private, that is. When they’re in public, his love language is fixing her hair or clothes as an excuse to touch her, and him making sure she has enough to eat

Nikkari’s dumb. Yeah. I sat here for 5 mins thinking about how to describe him but he’s dumb. He could’ve just told her that he loved her and she would’ve accepted him!! But instead, he shows his affection by straight up fucjing her!! Pls!! My story got ruined three times ebcause kf this!!

Confession vs waiting for confession

As for Hazuki, both her relationships started because the swords initiated.

Shoku had to be the one who confessed first or Hazuki would be stuck in another Nikkari situation

Screams about bugs vs killing bugs

All three kill them. Sometimes Nikkari keeps them to creep people out with them but they get killed by Hazuki or Shoku pretty quick

If they’re a big enough bug, sometimes Shoku stops Hazuki from killing them so that he can toss them outside

Driving [horses]

Hazuki learned to ride horses at the same time her first swords did so they’re all proficient at horse riding

I am going to refrain from adding something about Nikkari talking about Hazuki practicing on him here

Hazuki soon learns to use a bow on horseback to backup her swords on the battlefield while commanding them. Despite the others imploring her to command them away from the front, she is determined to protect her swords and uses her goggle binoculars to warn them of any dangers in the distance. She also provides emergency healing while on the field with them

Who cooks dinner?

Answer is obvious here but, with the help of Konnosuke, Nikkari was the one who had to learn how to cook in the very first days of Hazuki’s saniwa career or all four (Hazuki + 3 swords) of them in the citadel would die of starvation.

Nikkari is a decent home cook. His meals are simple and edible, nothing really to complain about. When Hazuki is well enough to join him in cooking for the others, he learns from her to improve his cooking

They’re both not as good as Shoku, who thinks constantly about flavour combinations, but they’re decent and get the job done. When Hazuki starts spending more time with Shoku, she improves her skills as well

PDA

Nikkari is a fiend for PDA. He doesn’t care if anyone sees!! This is much to the bewilderment of Hazuki. For one, he didn’t even confess to her !! But he likes to fawn on her without putting his affection into words. EVERYONE !! KNOWS !! EXCEPT HAZUKI !! They’re both dumb as shit istg

When the HFL settles down, both Shoku and Hazuki avoid PDA and keep their relationship a secret but they like playing PDA chicken to see who’s the first one to break, drag the other into the nearest room, and ——

Overprotective vs chill

By nature, the swords are overprotective of their saniwa, full stop. But Hazuki is also very overprotective over all her swords, especially the ones closest to her

She can’t lose her family again.

Well.

Not for a third time.

Jealous vs chill

Nikkari actively pushes Hazuki towards Shoku because he thinks she’d be happier with him... even though he wants to keep her to himself, so much so that he keeps an entire section of the property just for the two of them. Even though he’s accepted that she might have a crush on Shoku, it does sting that she never smiled at him the way she smiles at Shoku. He might be jealous but he would never get to say it

As a sword, Shoku is used to sharing a master with multiple swords. As a retainer, he can accept that his master has multiple partners. As a partner, he does want her for himself.

More than jealous, he’d be hurt if Hazuki was in another relationship behind his back. He is willing to accept her holding affection for another person, but he wants her to let him know about their relationship first.

If the other relationship isn’t serious and they’re just playing around, this is where PDA chicken comes in. He knows she’ll always come back to him (uh… as of my current plans. There is a whole other arc here so I don’t know if Shoku is endgame or not!! Sorry!! But he’s definitely confident in her loving him!!)

I’d say Nikkari’s jealousy level is 50%? And Shoku 30%

As for Hazuki, more than jealous, she gets lonely if they interact with other swords more than her. When they were both around, I’d say her jealousy would be at around 20% since she could just hang out with the other if one’s busy. When she only had Shoku, it would be around 30%

Relationship experience

All three started with little to no experience LOL. Hazuki had a one-sided high school relationship that she was kind of pressured into but it wasn’t serious so she barely counts it as a relationship. Meanwhile, the swords have brand new bodies

AND I GUESS THAT IMPLIES NIKKARI WAS HER FIRST. I GUESS. WOW. DAMN.

Libido level

I will refrain from giving Nikkari 69% because at this stage in Hazuki’s career, she wasn’t really sending her swords out to train very much, resulting in a lot of pent up swords!! Resulting in a lot of rolling around with Nikkari!! Hazuki’s dumb. Or smart, depending on how you look at it. Fuck.

She may not have the strongest swords as a new saniwa, but she sure is getting a wild intro to the career

Anyway, Nikkari’s drive is pretty high!! I’d put it at 80-90% but even then, it seems a little low!!

Hazuki’s drive is around 60-70% but can be easily convinced when the right buttons are pushed. She does initiate with Shoku when she’s in the mood, but with Nikkari, he would usually have to bring her around. Not that he minds though, since he’s usually raring to go

Shoku would be around 60-70% too I think. But depending on how long he’s been away from battle, it can get up to 80-90% too

Awkwardness level

Nikkari -> Hazuki = a little awkward only when she’s depressed and he’s thirsty af lol. Otherwise, he’s usually able to get her to come around

Hazuki -> Nikkari = a little awkward when she doesn’t realize what mood she’s in but everything is solved by fucking apparently. Nikkari out here literally changing her brain chemicals

Shoku -> Hazuki = a little awkward at the start because he’s trying to get her to see him as a good sword. But they definitely grow more natural to each other later on. With Nikkari's interference, he can get a little awkward with her though

Hazuki -> Shoku = EXTREMELY AWKWARD THANKS TO NIKKARI. Without his interference, she’s a little shy with him at first but soon grows more comfortable with him

The stronger ship?

Having just finished the Nikkari x Hazuki story, I do think this is the stronger ship for her at this moment. Mainly because, so far in the HFL stories, I never really dedicated any time to the Shoku x Hazuki ship. Not as much as the NxH ship anyway. Which, again, was something unplanned and managed to change the trajectory of the entire plot

SxH will be coming soon!! But looking at the height comparisons at the top of this post, I feel like Hazuki could wield Nikkari a lot better than Shoku right off the bat (no I also don't know where this analogy is going so I will end it here)

Your artstyle reminds me of Demon Slayer

No no that's quite a keen observation because I did join that fandom for some time and indeed adapted a lil bit from Kimetsu's style.

I think maybe it shows pretty clear on how I draw Lya's lips? I also love to cross my lineart at the lashes and pupil when I use harder brush, so that may also add some familiarity.

I had an KnY yume-joshi OC too! Or more exactly it's another AU for that same OC with that same character. I miss themmmmmm

One of the thing I love to do with her is she uses two swords, one tantou and one uchigatana. She prefers the tantou since it's lighter and shorter, more suitable for close combat in dark and narrow places. One of my remaining Saniwa habit it seems.

And no she didn't have *that* much boobs in the old design sheet, BUT- nah I just felt like it. My children will eventually suffer from the weight of their boobs. It's just the matter of time.

I told myself I was going to at least get Kiwame Akita to level 99, got to level 80, and just...felt numb. There are nineteen days of Summer Regiment left, so if nothing else that's plenty of time to take a break and then come back, in theory. But for the moment, even though my plan was to take as many pictures as I could, I just can't look at my Citadel right now.

I think the reason this sudden shutdown hurts--more than the time spent--is that because TKRB relies so much on the player creating their own story, the undercurrent of this whole situation is "Your stories don't matter."

So the Great Invasion? That amazing moment where both JP and EN servers fought together against an encroaching threat, saving each others' stories in the process? That moment of cross-national bonding over wanting to protect what we loved? That didn't matter.

But it did, the devs' efforts made it matter. The promos, the sudden UI shift that added a new layer to the setting, actual story segments...there was real effort and passion on display, echoing the players'. Will the devs work be cast aside too, so easily?

Of course, there's some revenge to be had: I'll keep my swords, Saniwa OC, and the Citadel they lived in in my heart. When it hurts less, I'll imagine their daily lives again, the complicated harem I envisioned, and perhaps any new swords who catch my eye will join them.

The Simplest Thing in the World

Word Count: 986

Characters: Yagen, Saniwa OC (Ro)

Pairings: Yagen x Saniwa OC

Summary: In a tipsy daze, the saniwa asks Yagen if she loves him. He tries to find a way to respond. Or escape, but she wasn’t going to let that happen anytime soon.

When Hasebe told Yagen to keep a close eye on the saniwa, this is probably not what he meant.

Yagen found himself crouched over Ro on her futon, having been pulled down and catching himself from crashing into her by bracing on his hands and knees. She wasn’t strong in the slightest, especially by touken danshi standards, however, he wasn’t expecting a surprise attack in her tipsy state. He had helped himself to some drinks too, but despite being roughly the same size, she was still one of the top light-weights of the citadel.

Ro, on the other hand, lay on her back underneath him. She didn’t seem to be alarmed at her situation, though. From Yagen’s perspective, it looked as if there wasn’t a single coherent thought rattling around in that brain of hers. Her gaze was blithe as she patted his face, giggling at his stoic expression. She mindlessly called his name in a sing-song, her cheeks flushing upon seeing his eyes soften at the sound of her voice.

Feeling his own face heat up (‘maybe because of the alcohol’ Yagen reasoned), he grabbed and removed one of the hands prodding at his cheeks, asking what she needed from him.

“Yagen, do you like me?”

He went silent for a moment. Ro watched as he set his mouth into a straight line. At how his shoulders stiffened and how the hand touching hers was lightly squeezed. It was a habit she’s noticed him do from time to time, clenching his hand around whatever he was holding onto. Perhaps as an attempt to self-soothe or to physically reset himself whenever he was under pressure.

In spite of that, Yagen recovered quickly. He always did. “Of course I do,” he responded. “Everybody in the citadel does-”

She wanted to groan when he heard him use the “everybody does” excuse. “No, not that.” Ro wrapped her arms around his shoulders again. Only as a light drape, yet still the pressure was enough to make his head bow even closer to hers.

He watched her mouth open as if to say something, then quickly close. Her eyes appeared to waver in the candlelight with a strange mix of fear and melancholy. As if she was about to start crying and was afraid of being unable to stop.

“Do you love me?” she managed to say, in a voice not much louder than a whisper. It sounded like she was fearful of someone eavesdropping on them, but that was ridiculous. Most of the sword men had gathered at the New Year’s celebration dinner in the common areas, far away from the saniwa’s private quarters.

What was she so scared of?

Yagen didn’t even have a chance to speak before Ro interrupted his thoughts. “Ah. You’re doing it again.”

“I haven’t said anything yet,” he muttered with a tinge of annoyance.

“You don’t have to.” Ro placed a hand on the side of his face again. “I could already tell that you’re thinking of a way out of this.” She gently traced her thumb along his cheekbone. “Or how to redirect it.” Her fingers then moved to tuck a loose strand of hair behind his ear, his breath catching for the smallest of moments as her fingertips grazed his earlobe.

She said his name. His full name this time: ‘Yagen Toushirou’. It sounded sweet on her tongue, like it was another one of those candies that she always enjoyed. “When will you be able to lay out your feelings as clear cut as your blade?” Ro questioned in a lilting tone.

He didn’t know what expression he was making at the moment, but he got the feeling it was nothing good. Not with the almost smug way she was looking at him. Yagen wanted to turn his face away, but both her hands returned to cup it and hold him still. She was enjoying this a little too much for his liking.

But whether he was blushing or not, he set his face like a flint all the same. It would do him no good to crumble under something like this. Especially in the eyes of the saniwa.

Hanging on to his last shred of dignity, he replied, “Love is… too complicated of an emotion. You and I both know this, General.” He could see her wince at the reference to her past, but he stood his ground.

Well, as firm as you can stand on your hands and knees.

“Then can we at least pretend?”

“Pretend what?”

“That it’s the simplest thing in the world. For just a moment.”

This got a chuckle out of him. “And what for?” he asked.

Ro laughed as well, giddy with delight as he pressed his forehead against hers.

They locked eyes. She loved his gaze. How it resembled a special kind of coolness that accompanies moonlight and the evening breeze. It was comforting to her, to be able to feel completely at ease just in the presence of another person. Something she never thought she’d find.

He in turn saw warmth. His study drenched in honeyed light as the sun sinks beneath the horizon. A radiant smile. A silly kind of hope that these peaceful days with everyone, with each other, wouldn’t come to an end so quickly.

“Just indulge me,” Ro murmured. Her eyes flitted from his eyes to his lips and then back again. She moved one of her hands to play with the hair at the back of his head, interrupted by him grabbing it once more but this time intertwining their fingers as he rested them by the side of her head.

She mumbled “I love you, Yagen Toushirou” as her eyelids fluttered shut, feeling him drawing closer.

Ro heard him utter her name too. Her true name followed by an “I love you too” before the room became silent as they could no longer talk any further.

I didn't go into this with a plan but ended up writing a rambly longer than expected drabble. Not writing anything for your own starter but for your Saniwa oc's starter is valid!! Hopefully someone find it enjoyable. This is Kasen asking to go for his kiwame journey ++ there's briefly bonus awkward Shizuka. 

He expected it would happen eventually but that didn't stop him from hoping it wouldn't happen anyway. It had started with the tantou, then wakizashi. Once his uchigatana began to ask he knew even Kasen who had been by his side the longest would ask to leave him.

It hurt and he was scared. He thought that being the Saniwa was safe, that it guaranteed people who would always be on his side, by his side. How was he supposed to believe them when they say they want to leave and come back? His fear was only made worse by one night when he caught Ookurikara trying to sneak out of the Citadel.

The Saniwa was obvious in his displeasure with this, pointedly ignoring anyone who made such a selfish request from him ever since. He wasn't finished being hurt.

Kasen had seen it again and again yet he still dared to call him aside! The Saniwa knew what he wanted. He ignored the purple haired man while burying his face against Shizukagata’s side who stiffened at the contact.

“Master you're being unreasonable and childish, it's about time we spoke about this.” Kasen said, his voice balancing between angry and tired.

“Shizukagata tell Kasen I'm not talking to him and that he's a shitty poet.” The Saniwa said with an irritated huff.

Shizukagata looked uneasily between the two. Kasen had retorted before he had to stress over considering to play the middleman.

“If you won't even listen to me then just dismantle me.”

The grip the Saniwa had on him tightened almost painfully. Shizukagata could see Kasen’s expression was absolutely serious.

An uncomfortable and heavy silence remained until the naginata was finally unhanded.

“You can leave.” The Saniwa mumbled, quite literally pushing Shizukagata away now. He wasted no time in leaving as told to.

When the door was shut leaving the two alone Kasen looked around the room. It was the Saniwa's bedroom, it was scarcely used for sleep and filled with junk. It was a mess and he'd scolded the other on his cleanliness many times over. Those lectures never worked.

“Are you listening?” Kasen asked, walking forward until he was standing right behind his Master who still wouldn't look at him.

“I'm not deaf or covering my ears.” The Saniwa whined in response. He was nervous and probably impatient.

“Asking to go on a journey is not a desire to leave you.” Kasen said, getting right to the point. The Saniwa jumped as though it was surprising he brought it up anyway.

“You're literally saying you want to leave. I'm not an idiot.” The Saniwa responds, maybe he thought Kasen was too close because he walked to the wall and was fidgeting in place.

“It's exactly because you're thinking something like that which makes you an idiot.” Kasen said bluntly. 

This comment made the blond look at him at least. He was pouting but his eyes were shining and giving away his hopefulness. 

“You're an absolute handful. You act like a child and don't take your position seriously. Sometimes you can be terrifying and you only try your hardest when you feel like it. I've been tired by your antics since day one but never once have I regretted serving you.” Kasen spoke, honestly and evenly. 

How strange it was that his Master's weakness was something as simple honesty. The Saniwa made some strangled noise but otherwise attempted to keep a straight face. 

It was certainly Kasen's turn to be startled as the Saniwa suddenly knocked him over, tackling him onto the floor with the full force of his body. It was easy for him to forget his Master was basically the same size as him, it wasn't a light attack.

“You're so~ embarrassing. How do you think you can get away with bullying me like that? I really should dismantle you!” The Saniwa exclaimed. 

Kasen didn't really expect a more straightforward response anyway, he knew his Master well. 

“You won't dismantle me. You'll trust me to go get stronger for you. Then I'll come back and use my newfound strength to knock any remaining stupid thoughts from your mind.” Kasen told him. 

This was the first time Kasen had really wanted something. The Saniwa was still scared, that voice in the back of the mind that reminded him that he couldn't trust anyone was still screaming. “Yes, yes. Of course you will.” Kasen said, humoring him although he could imagine the other trying it. 

The Saniwa rolled off of him and began digging through his stuff. He hummed some tune to himself as Kasen pulled himself up off the floor and brushed non existent dirt off himself. 

Before Kasen could ask the Saniwa rushed back over, barreling into him again but this time Kasen caught him. He pressed a hat onto Kasen's head and draped a blue and white striped garb over his shoulders. 

“Write me.” The Saniwa insisted as he shoved a letter set into Kasen's gut, successfully irritating the other.

“I'll be back soon.” Kasen said, deciding to let it slide just this once. 

The Saniwa quickly grabbed hold of his arm to make sure he didn't make to leave just yet.

“Come back.” The Saniwa told him seriously.

The tales of Food || 食物语

The second child of the god of cooking and his beloved wife, Yuan. They aren't the heir for the title of the god of cooking but they learn the basic of things from their teachers, taken care by others but one day before the event of the game "the tales of food" began they left to find their own path as they are lost of their own purpose. They see no place for them in Kongsang. Even through their beloved older siblings and Food soul family hate to part from them, Yuan left with a smile.

They found a job flayer in a time period far in the future of the human world as they venture to find purpose, it seems that there are danger lurking to change the history. And with inhuman amount spiritual power from both of Yuan parents yet still behind from the level of their older sibling, they went to join the time government to help keep the history safe.

With their first sword Kashuu and Imanotsurugi they went to protect history under the new alias, Fuukami-- or wind god. They are like the wind, they well go where the blow of blaze take them and it taken them to be a saniwa.

They are called: Ria (flip of the word air) a solo idol that come and sing a soft tone that seems to made everyone felt spiritual energy and cleansing ( cause of their powers that is lurking out ) they once become rank one but that very day after the concert they disappeared leaving without a world, they are soon known as Cinderella idol who appear out of nowhere and left before the clock strick midnight.

The new world dialect is quite new and their name Fuu become Yuu in their ears and soon they start to adjust to the world language as they help with problem children and in the strict of danger in the gate of underworld, a person appears before them and helped them, that is hakusan who finally able to gain human form and here to assist their saniwa in all form as they could.

They told the things they forget as they once told Haku who they are when they hurry to leave and their real name and such revolution left them to unlock their control to their spiritual powers in the last chapter and come out safe from suppose to be danger. When all the chaos ended, blot and all that. They saw a portal appear before them when crewel still don't know how to send them back.

"YUAN!" someone called out to them from the portal, in comes their oldest siblings and parents, who finally found them after a long search. The student of NRC all come to a shock discovering fuu or yuan is basically a demi god. But soon say farewell as Yuan have to leave the twisted wonderland with their touken danshi in toe. They did promise to go back one day but they still have things to sort with their job as saniwa to being an idol.
