the lovers, reversed
(aka I'm still freaking out about Jou)
#art#ride kamens#i am about to go off on wild speculation so excuse me in advance#I HAVEN'T PLAYED THE EVENT YET so this could all be just absolutely nothing but i gotta get it out#(still debating if i wanna save the event for after i finish part 2 or not...)#this is my last chance to throw wacky theories out there okay#i've just. been thinking a lot about the riders the characters are based on and how they relate to their different classes#like the choices seemed SO random when they were first revealed but they do mostly make sense when you think about it#to the point where i actually do feel like i should've been able to call ooo for ambition. damnit.#however i did always feel like jou was a bit of an outlier and now i'm wondering if that's gonna be like...a thing#idk man just the fact that he's gonna have a special double card and bond henshin with taiten is nuts to me#especially since we're clearly on the verge of SOMETHING happening with soun and uryuu#what does it mean. WHAT DOES IT MEAN#what does this mean for the future of tower emblem#and it hasn't escaped me that there is no class associated with evolution (YET)#and thinking about who jou is based on i'm just like#(waves hands) YOU KNOW?!#(plus i'm still like WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR RUI AND HAYATE but that's a separate thing)#i'm gonna try and take my time and not rush through part 2 but i also am SO impatient#i gotta knooooow#given the way my predictions tend to go though i'm either 100% accidentally right about the dumbest thing#or jou is fine but leon fucking dies or something and i'm gonna throw my phone into a lake#HAVE FUN GUYS I GUESS

I'm writing a paper on Goncharov right now and I can sooth your nerves that the difference between Gonch and whatever's happening on tiktok is not the fake media. Fake media and fake people and fake history will always and has always existed. Neither is the collective storytelling.
The difference is that we made Goncharov real by imitating a fandom for it. Like yes mass hallucinating a movie was fun and an incredible feat of collective creativity. But the *way* we created Goncharov is what will always make it special.
We, as a website, spontaneously created a perfect pastiche of fandom, one that was so identical to any other fandom behaviour it made the movie seem real.
As I quote thetwistyoucantresist in my paper, “maybe the real Goncharov was the Fandom we made along the way”.
Goncharov isnt the fake movie its the fake fandom, that's what special and unique and one of a kind
#goncharov#absolutely HATE saying im writing a paper abt it#makes me feel like a sell out#or so corporate or whatever#but its for my fan activities class#and its about goncharov as a pastiche as a fake fandom and as collective storytelling and the implications these#observations have on media theory#for fellow media students its got some sweet sweet birmigham school in there

Criminal Minds S01E01 - a scene analysis/things I noticed
(The text in the images is the same, I just worried you can't read my handwriting)
1. In the beginning scene where Gideon is asked to return to the BAU, the way the characters are positioned is representative of their power dynamic or role within the BAU at that point as well as representing the dilemma within the scene
- Reid is in the background since he is the youngest and least experienced, also the least in focus atp. He's also positioned in front of a map, which could be foreshadowing for his ample ability of geographical profiling
- Morgan is in front of Reid but still behind Hotch and Gideon
- At first, Gideon is positioned as the main focus with the camera showing him debating returning to the BAU for the first time since the Boston incident. As Hotch tells him that “the order came from the director” the camera focus switches as in the team “came back into focus” as Gideon realizes he has to come back.
- The camera then focuses on Hotch since he is the leader of the team. This shows that now that Gideons dilemma isn't the only thing in focus, the team has dynamics and roles which are also a large aspect of the show
2. In this scene with the family of the unsub, although the family isn't centered they are very clearly the focus of attention due to the clear blue colour tint around them. This suggests the grief they are in after finding out their family member committed a crime. The family is surrounded by green tints as well, showing their grief is surrounded by the unsubs world (explanation in next observation)
- In the next scene if you look at the family portrait you will see that everyone in the family except the unsub is in blue, showing that the entire family was affected by his actions in their grief but also that he stands out from them.
- When Elle comes in from the left in the next frame, her red outfit is a contrast to the blue. She is from the outside world, an outsider to the family's grief.
3. The general lighting in this scene shows an outside world (the warmer lights in the hallway) and the inside world of the unsub, with the darker green colors. In the frame pictured, the unsub is looking away from the outside world.
- Gideon is wearing red to contrast the green
- The family portrait shows how the unsub is an outsider with the rest of the family positioned in a tight triangle and him in the bottom right corner, also wearing different colors from the rest of the family
- The family photo is centered in this scene, showing a clear contrast between them surrounding the unsub versus him now being all alone
- The table in front of him is empty, showing he has no future in front of him. In a few seconds Gideon places his book in front of him, showing that the only future now is the BAUs work
- There is a chair facing backwards behind the unsub. This is like an interrogation, so the two chairs are for the two unsubs. But because the team doesn't know this yet, the chair faces away from Gideon, the interrogator.
4. Following the train of thought about the colors, we can see that the car the unsub used to lure the women into is red. The contact with the outside world is red, and in the scene where we see him kidnap a victim we can see he is wearing a green jacket as he locks the girl in the red car, showing that she is being locked away by the inside world of the unsub.
5. In this scene with Hotch interrogating the unsub, he is centered as he walks into the interrogation room to show his importance.
6. In the scene at the very end of the episode, the unsub is once again shown in green lighting. His truck is shown in red, while Gideon is also in green. This shows how Gideon Has stepped into the inner world of the unsub, and is looking out on the outside world from within as he realizes who he's talking to.

Listen, he knows how periods works but unfortunately a lack of people who menstruate in his life combined with an excess of Eli in his brain means that they are not the first thing that comes to his mind when someone mentions they woke up on a pool of blood.
I'm testing out a different, quicker art style for short sketches. I'm really liking this one and maybe I will switch the style of the comics to this one too once I'm more comfortable with it.

How do you guys think the Technopolian economy works?
It’s not like Technopolis is THAT huge of a world. It’s just a city, not exactly its own nation/state like Kingsland or the Enchanted Forest is. How would money circulation go, especially with being from the outside or other cities? Would the lifestyle be capitalist or communist? If it was capitalist, how would independent businesses work? How rich could the richest person in Technopolis be? Would they have a million dollars or just a couple thousand? If communist, how much would be portioned out to everyone? How much would products cost? What ARE the products? How much would inflation cost? How would investments work? What would their (definitely digital) cryptocurrency be called? What kind of bank(s) would they have and how would they operate? Are there credit unions? What measures do they have in place in case of a crisis? Is there a Technopolian FDIC, Fed, OCC, CFPB, or NCUA? Do they need all of those? Do they need any of those?
WE NEED ANSWERS, PEOPLE!!!!

Something like this?
Yeah! Very close to that!
From the top view, the toes would still be pretty indistinguishable because the fur would still obscure where one ends and another begins, but that's about right.
At this point in their evolution, you'd be able to tell right away from the tool claw that they're not Felis Catus Domesticus anymore. I had a specbio project I worked on for a while where I called them something like Felis Narrans I think.
#It was a personal reference to an old college professor who was very inspiring to me#She overheard this theory once that humans shouldn't be called Homo Sapien but 'Homo Narrans'#Because of how storytelling and parables were more important to our species than individual intelligence#So she would put that into practice by. Instead of scolding us if we fucked up. She would find a parable to talk about#And after the parable was done she would state its moral lmao#I don't know if anyone else in that class appreciated it but my autistic ass did#Like one time we didn't clean up a space after we used it and she launched into the Tragedy of the Commons#With the exaspiration of an aging dramaturge#I loved her class#Bone babble#speculative biology

I think one of the most interesting things about Oliver is that he absolutely could’ve been a permanent fixture at Saltburn with Felix if only he had been a little less greedy. His biggest downfall is that his upper middle class privilege made him overly presumptuous with his greed in a way that left cracks in his carefully thought out plans.
First and foremost, it’s important to note that Oliver is an unreliable narrator in ways that made his third act monologue an unexpectedly interesting part of the film. His monologue is meant to not only justify his actions but is also a way for Oliver to make himself out to be smarter and better than he truly is. He’s working overtime to convince himself that he’s won and that he’s achieved this through his own actions. Whether you chose to believe him or not is up to you; what really matters is that you understand that no matter how big (or little) of a role he played in securing Saltburn for himself, he still royally fucked up his original plan on multiple occasions. He is not a mastermind who got what he originally wanted all along. He was not all knowing and he was not watching everyone play checkers while he played chess. Oliver. Fucked. Up.
The bicycle scene (whether you believe he tampered with the tire or not) and the pub rescue scene were more than enough to win over Felix. Felix was shallow and would've given no extra thought to Oliver's usefulness or perceived poverty. Oliver could’ve hinted at a difficult home situation and used the family strain he already experienced as a hook for Felix if necessary. It would’ve been enough... but then Oliver got greedy. He started building up the poverty case more and more, in the hopes of getting more and more of Felix, and that was his first major mistake.
It’s important to remember that we see Felix not from Oliver’s POV directly, but from Oliver’s POV in his twisted retelling that we have no reason to believe. Though Oliver probably knew Felix intimately, he doesn't share that Felix with us. He shares the godly image he built in his mind that is tainted by his own self deprecation. In Oliver’s world Felix was seconds from dropping him at any given moment, because why would Felix keep Oliver? In reality, Felix had already deemed Oliver the perfect new toy. Sure, Felix was irritated in the cleaning argument scene… but if we work under the assumption that Felix had already chosen Oliver, then Oliver pointing out his privilege in an way that made him acknowledge it would’ve ultimately intensified Felix’s saviour complex once he got past the initial discomfort. It might’ve taken a moment, but Felix would’ve ran straight back to Oliver soon enough. Though Oliver couldn't see it, we see through the jealousy Felix's circle of friends display that Oliver was a more permanent fixture in Felix is life than most were comfortable with. The problem was that Oliver couldn't handle the wait, and his greed overrode his patience and lead to yet another mistake when he escalates the situation by bringing in a dead father that he didn’t actually need.
Farleigh and Oliver’s dynamic is so interesting because Farleigh immediately recognises Oliver for what he truly is. Farleigh has an interesting class dynamic where by right he should be a permanent fixture at Saltburn as a member of the Catton family, but he’s been carelessly demoted to upper middle class purgatory. He recognises Oliver as his competition almost immediately despite having played this game for far longer. Farleigh is happy to play this game in school, because he knows it well enough to win, but then Farleigh is shaken when he realises Oliver has become his competition in fighting their way into the Catton family. Farleigh recoginses what Oliver doesn't, that Oliver is permanent. He hates that Oliver’s race mixed with his Oscar winning poverty act has given Oliver that extra boost that makes him a real threat to Farleigh's place in Saltburn.
This is what makes the karaoke scene so interesting. Up until that point Farleigh see's Oliver as lesser and underserving of a place at Saltburn. The karaoke scene shows a significant shift where Farleigh finally accepts Oliver as a worthy opponent and potential teammate. With the obvious attraction between them Oliver should’ve taken him up on his truce without question. Alas, Oliver’s greed takes control once more and he immediately tries to place himself above Farleigh despite the offer of solidarity presented to him. This is what leads to the Rent scene where Farleigh successfully declares war once more, and where Oliver calls him over to finish the song in a way that ensures that he wins that round. The problem is that unlike Farleigh, who is focused on playing an upper middle class game of infiltrating the 1%, Oliver gets so lost in cosplaying poor that he loses focus of what the real game is. He’s so focused on the humiliation his poor character must feel from singing Rent that he loses sight of the acceptance of the role the song portrays that Farleigh displays which allows for Farleigh to win the next round. He fails to recognise that he needs Farleigh as an ally to get what he truly wants, and that was one of his biggest mistakes of all.
Oliver's want for Felix ultimately becomes his biggest downfall as he lays the foundations for relationships with the Cattons only to taint those relationships for Felix's comfort. Felix didn't need to be happy with Oliver at all times, but Oliver was greedy for the affection that came with Felix is good graces. Oliver singlehandedly undid the work he had done on Venetia – and by extension the work he had done on Elspeth – to keep Felix's easy affections. Felix was sulking, but he would've gotten over it pretty quickly if Oliver practiced some subtlety and put in just that little bit more work for the affection he craved. Oliver didn't have the patience for the long game. He wanted Felix is affection immediately and that meant that he made the mistake of closing off all alternative entryways into the Catton family prematurely.
Despite all his mistakes Oliver still could've had Felix even after the birthday surprise disaster. Though Felix was angry, he had ultimately declared his love by positioning himself as the Juliet to Oliver's Romeo, as indicated by his costume to Oliver's birthday party. Though Felix's love and care was exploitative and tainted by his privilege, it was also real and present in all the ways that mattered. In the maze, despite Felix is harsh words, what really stands out is how we see Felix contemplate kissing Oliver and doing everything in his power not to give in. It's the first time it's made clear to the audience that Felix is just as dangerously in love as Oliver is. Felix would've taken any excuse imaginable to forgive Oliver in that moment. All Felix was asking for was clarity. Oliver could've given Felix the smallest bit of who he truly was and Felix would've done what he always did and filled in the blanks in a way that allowed him to play saviour. Felix would've given Oliver everything he'd ever wanted in that maze if only Oliver was willing to win the game on Felix is terms. Oliver could've had his cake and eaten it too, but his greed made him want more than that. When he realised he couldn't have it all he made an impulsive decision driven by his unquenchable thirst that lead to his biggest mistake of all. Oliver's need to be better, his need to be smarter, and his need to win the game on his own terms is what ultimately lead to Felix's death.
If Oliver had been more careful he could've had it all through Venetia or Farleigh or Elspeth... but he had already destroyed all alternative pathways through his own greed. When Oliver loses Felix, he loses any chance he might've had at elevating himself into the Catton's league. In the end, Oliver's third act monologue becomes a desperate attempt to make Saltburn worth it. Saltburn is not worth it. Oliver fishes the Cattons stones out of the water because without them Saltburn becomes nothing. In the end Oliver is alone, performing for the Cattons in a house long abandoned. Saltburn is the consolation prize Oliver had to convince himself he always wanted.
#OLIVER QUICK IS UPPER MIDDLE CLASS#this is one of many saltburn theories i believe in at the same time#for someone so smart oliver is kinda dumb#oliver is desperately in love with felix#this theory exists in the multiverse of madness i've created for saltburn in my head#saltburn#oliver quick#felix catton#farleigh start#cattonquick

I had (4 years ago?) a 200k words wip fic in my head that was basically the abnormal class from Fav Anime Mairimashita Iruma-kun being bnha’s 2A
So, it’s a canon thing that Aizawa expeled a entire hero class before the the anime’s 1A
Keeping in mind he expeled everyone on the first day guess who went “free real state”??? THATS RIGHT I just put the entire abnormal class as general students that didn’t get into the hero course

I’m pretty sure I had an entire arc of them meeting before UA and Iruma inspiring the others to try to be heroes
Unfortunately none of them had clean school history so they didn’t get to go to ua’s hero department… or any other good hero school tbh
But fear not!! They were going to be heroes even if they had to train by themselves, just having access to ua gyms and nurse would already be a more help then otherwise
Ofc, as I wrote before, aizawa gifted a entire class vacancy
So sports festival it is
They would have absolute dominate, showing not only personal talent but also their teaming up abilities
I vaguely remember having more them 3 scenarios of how the maze team game was going to go on the second part alone
Ofc the 13 would get to the tournament stage too… rip B class hero students lmao
All of this with Iruma being quirkless, of course I did need the whole secret indentity thing
In mairimashita iruma-kun the main character has a ring, who has a spirit/conscience and is able to eat energy and helps iruma use magic
Translating this to bnha was:
Sullivan has a energy manipulation quirk and tells iruma he made the ring carry a copy of his quirk, but it’s a secret because the technology is so op (lie)
In this case I made Alikred (ring spirit), be a ex-villain boss who was victim of a quirk (?) and was stuck in a ring, but Alikred’s quirk was a kind of vampiric copy quirk so the ring can be used like Sullivan’s (the grandpa’s) quirk as long as he eventually charges i
Eventually Delkira would get his mind back and slowly start to be able to use his shadow form, of course to get to that point iruma would have had to eat some very specific quirk energy (it gives the victim quirk exhaustion) like some shapeshift quirks and idk I can’t remember the details
(I haven’t read the manga in 3028832 months but I’ve been pretty sure alikred is the missing demon king since he got his name)
Once they got into the hero course Aizawa would go nope not my problem and somehow get rid of them and kalego-sensei would be put as their home-room teacher rip him
When they get in their second year is when canon 1-A gets there… everytime someone pities Aizawa for his hellions he thinks positively “at least it’s not the demons from the abnormal class”
#mairimashita! iruma kun#bnha#mha#m!ik#there was MORE#including but not limited to all the instances where the ring failed and iruma had to troubleshoot the quirkless way#because I really wanted some quirkless story there#there was the whole thing about Sullivan being a maybe criminal in another country maybe#and for some reason falsifying his claims as a grandfather… which iruma is not upset about his parents are shit#im gonna use a tag for this au in case I remember something more and decide to post about it#2-A abnormal class AU#I’m pretty sure I was pushing my polycule agenda with this one#which todoroki was supposed to have a theory about but no one would ever believe him#Also Ameri!!!! she was in the same year as Mirio but in class B#which would change the Big 3 for sure I love them to death but I can’t in good conscience say she wouldn’t be number one
