About the page:

Sterek Week is a celebration of our beloved pairing Stiles Stilinski and Derek Hale. It’s a week long event with daily themes meant to inspire fans to create and share their works!

How it works:

Every day has a theme. Works must be inspired by or related to the theme. All kinds of works are accepted (fanart, fanfiction, edits, graphics, playlists, moodboards, headcanons/plotbunnies whatever you can think of!)

It just has to be Sterek 😊

All works should use the corresponding day tags so we can find them. Post on the day of theme, with the correct tag, and it will be reblogged to Sterek Week '24.

We accept late entries, so if you are running behind still post it! We continue to check the previous tags throughout the week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a word limit or format for written pieces?

Nope! We accept all lengths of works and all different kinds of works, be it drabbles, ficlets, poems, one-shots, whatever you’re comfortable with!

What about artworks, or other mediums/playlists/moodboards/edits? Are there any formats/limitations?

We just want you to be creative! As long as it’s sterek in some way and fits within parameters of the themes and guidelines, create away and tag us!

What about NSFW works?

NSFW works are accepted, we just require them to be tagged accordingly and of course, they need to be posted according to Tumblr’s guidelines, as well as any other hosting site’s.

Can I talk about my work(s)?

Yes! As long as you don’t share it before the corresponding day.

How many works can I submit?

As many as you want! We’re ecstatic about every piece!

I’m not sure my work really fits a theme./It’s not necessarily perfect/as good as others. Can I still post it?

Please do! It’s the variety that does the trick. The sheer quantity of works in the fandom is what has made and kept us so strong! Just create!

Are AI works accepted?

Based on comments and requests from last years Sterek Week, AI works will not be accepted this year. Now that being said, there are only three of us and we are only human, sometimes we don't realize something is AI. We ask that no AI works are submitted, but if we find out later that they are, we will be removing them from the blog.

We ask that if you think something is AI, you politely message us and we can look into it. Please no hounding the artists directly as we have seen a lot of false accusations in the past. We can only count on people being upfront and honest and the fandom coming together as one.

Whether you're a previous participant, new to either tumblr or this pairing, or simply an event enjoyer who views and shares the new content, thank you for stopping by and taking a look! This year we have chosen to begin on a Monday with new dates rather than midweek, so the date of the event itself is a little later than in previous years, but everything else stays the same. Hi I was wondering what is your thought process to “OC-ify” matsuda to make kenzou who is absolutely wonderful and I love them so very much whenever you share of them!!!

How do you separate your “matsudas” and your “Kenzous” in your head??

As someone trying to “OC-ify” my faves I have been hitting a wall and would like some advice if you are willing to offer some!

Hello hello, and thank you so much 😊!! This is a really good question actually! I'll do my best to write some thoughts about it and you can feel it out and see if it works for your OC-ifying project! (which is always exciting! OC-ifying Matsuda and others has brought me lots of joy #^_^#)

Intro: At the point in time that I OC-fied Matsuda and the others, I had been drawing them as cats for a bit already. I had experienced prior to this a feeling of "hehe those are my Ocs" when looking at Matsuda, L, Near and Mello especially. However, having suddenly drawn this very stark contrast (colorful catboys) to how they appear in the original work, it made me connect more to the idea that these guys are becoming something else in my head, more or less kickstarting actually OC-ifying them.

Tip 1: I do believe therefore, that if you wish to OC-ify a character, it can be good to pull them toward some sort of extreme to create a contrast to their "original". This helps with giving them a new home in your head, understanding them more as something different than where they started.

For me that process entailed cute-ifying the characters, taking them out of their bleak epic supernatural crime drama and putting them into a colorful world of love and comfort, but it could entail bringing any sort of contrast to the mix. Tip 2: Spending time with the idea of Kenzou also brought him to life: Drawing him, thinking about him, etc. To find out who Kenzou was beyond who Matsuda was, I had to draw him out of me. Like pulling a heavy anchor out of the ocean. Same with Piyara and the others, and I'm still pulling ^_^ so everytime I draw them I learn more about them! You can also make playlists or moodboards, if you enjoy that sort of thing :-)

Tip 3: To find out who Kenzou was I also had to create the world around him. Contrast here helps a aswell, because if I change the world completely, the character changes almost automatically too.

When you're focusing hard on one character, It's sometimes easy to forget how important others + the surrounding world are to who that character is, so I'm tinkering a lot with those around Kenzou to see what they bring out of him. For example, I'm currently pondering a lot about who his friends are, or co-workers. Removing his occupation as a cop and removing his relations to the task force has already changed who he is / who he appears to be a lot. So, worldbuilding! If you want to Oc-ify a character, it brings a lot to the process by also re-making the world you found them in. (with that said, there's no need to abandon the world you found them in, if the world you found them in is part of what you really enjoy about them. If that's the case, try to imagine a different POV in that world perhaps) Tip 4: Seek inspiration from other places *nod nod* What is your character missing in it's original form, that you would like to give them? A lot of times new creations is a mixtape of things we are drawn to, and this is what is so lovely about creation 😤

When I began working on Kenzou as a charatcer, I was very inspired by the ambience of the manga Hirayasumi by Keigo Shinzō, and I think that affected early choices a lot! Conclusion: Alright, phiouw! I think that's a solid summary of my thoughts on the topic for now. Kenzou is the first time I've so shamelessly and directly made a character out of the shell of an already existing one (that's not mine), so I'll probably have more thoughts on the topic in the future. First One of Many - Levi Ackerman x Reader

The first time Levi Ackerman met your family, it was Thanksgiving. You've been dating for a little less than a year, which means you've been hounded by your family for just as long to bring around 'the new man'. It's not like you didn't want them to meet Levi - it was quite the opposite. You didn't want him to meet them. Your family, as most were, is extremely dysfunctional in the most passive aggressive ways. It was always, 'Oh you look great, did you lose weight?' or 'When are you going to settle down?', never once minding the fact of how rude it was to ask. Levi wasn't the type of person to hold back his disdain so when you both arrived at your childhood home and he acted quite polite, you were surprised. A strong handshake to your father, a small bouquet of flowers for your mother. It was civilized, until your parents and family members started hounding him about marriage and children and you just wanted to die on the spot. Levi, noticing your discomfort and embarrassment, took your hand in his under the table as he answered the questions with grace - never answering directly and deflecting so easily. Only when you were able to bid your farewells and crawl into Levi's warm car are you able to breathe. He takes your hand again, kisses your knuckles, and looks you straight in the eyes before saying, "Next year, we'll only go to my mom's okay?". It wasn't just the fact that he was just as exhausted by your family as you were, it's that he mentioned 'next year' like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

I made the moodboard and wrote the HC for @postwarlevi 's 'Under The Harvest Moon' collab! This was absolutely self-indulgent but kept it x reader for anyone who might relate. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! 🦃

The rain showed no sign of stopping as the night turned into daybreak. It continued to pour heavily outside, blanketing London in a relentless downpour. The persistent rain cast a dark shadow over the city, blurring the distinction between night and day. It was hard to tell if it was early morning or still night.

Inside, Khushi lay peacefully asleep, nestled comfortably in Arnav's arms, her breathing even and calm. Meanwhile, Arnav remained wide awake, his mind as clouded with troubling thoughts as the sky outside, though they burned each other's calories down after returning from the restaurant.

He looked at her sleeping form in the low night coming through the window. His wife- she was such an unbelievable creature. how could such a resilient and incredibly strong person think so little of herself?

Regarding her insecurities about Lavanya, Arnav regretted his role in exacerbating the issue. If only he had handled things more wisely back then. However, the past was unchangeable. What mattered now was that he could continually reassure her of his love and commitment.

Arnav’s restless mind jumped from one thought to another. Ultimately, it settled on Natalia.

It was an otherwise ordinary day at the office when Natalia arrived, searching for Arnav and introducing herself. Arnav’s shock was beyond measure—he never imagined life would force him to confront his past so directly. The memories of his mother’s tragic death, the anguish that followed, and the hollow years of coping with his father's betrayal came rushing back, like a violet torrent. Unprepared to face it, he avoided her as long as possible before he reluctantly read her letter.

The revelation of a child, born from the affair that had turned his world upside down felt like a cruel twist of fate, reopening old wounds. He found himself at a loss, uncertain about what was expected of him, as he couldn’t see a clear path for making a decision regarding her daughter, Amelia—that was her name.

Arnav had gone to meet the girl. The door opened to reveal a small, shy child with wide, curious eyes. As she looked up at him, Arnav was struck by how much she reminded him of Khushi as a child—the same innocent, hopeful expression and a quiet strength beyond her years. But her eyes—they unsettled him, stirring a deep sense of restlessness within.

She had eyes like her father's—eyes that haunted him whenever he looked in the mirror, eyes he despised. Arnav had always hated his resemblance to his father, especially those eyes, wishing instead for eyes like his mother’s, like Anjali’s.

How could he care for a child, especially one who reminded him so painfully of his own horrifying past?

To make matters worse, the love of his life had misinterpreted the situation into something else entirely. The turmoil between them stemmed from his reluctance to share his feelings and be open with her. Arnav knew that now very clearly.

He shouldn’t have dragged out the impending conversation. He kind of avoided her for a few days after their fight, despite her apology. He was just so hurt by what she had said. He couldn’t let go of the pain and look at her, who was the centre of his universe, the anchor of all his emotions—and also someone who believed he could engage in something he abhorred with his whole being, something that would make him no different from his father.

Arnav reflected on the numerous mistakes he had made in their relationship. It seemed nothing short of a miracle that, despite all the missteps, he still managed to have her by his side.

Arnav tightened his hold on Khushi’s sleeping form, her back pressed against his chest. He buried his face deeper in her hair, getting lost in the intoxicating fragrance.Arnav never thought he would be such a cuddler. He hadn’t been one as a child, but his wife had turned him into one. She was just so soft for her own good. Soft and warm everywhere, a perfect contrast to his hard planes. Her softness wasn’t just a sensory overload; it was also incredibly comforting.

Arnav laughed to himself. And he had thought he could let go of her, that he could live without her. Such a pretentious thought now.

Khushi had revealed a side of him he never knew existed—a raw, untamed, animalistic part. Sure, physical attraction was common for any man, but he had always been in control of himself until he had her. Nothing could prepare him for the depth of emotion tied to being physically with Khushi would be and how it intensified everything. Each time, she completely surrounded him with herself, his senses overwhelmed by her scent and the sounds she made, his name like a prayer on her lips. Her bottomless eyes seemed to consume him entirely, maintaining a connection that never wavered.

She was everywhere and she was everything.

She was his entire world.

Even if they lived hundreds of thousands of years together, he would never get enough of her. The urge to own her every single inch, to mark her, taste her, and have her was overwhelming. It reduced his world to basic instincts. The need for her was something both foreign and wonderful because he had never wanted to own anyone as much as he wanted to own her. And she drew him in slowly, inch by inch, and he willingly followed, eyes wide open. For the first time in a long while, he allowed himself to lose the control he had kept on a tight leash his whole life. And for the first time, he found peace in the chaos.

Her hair tickled his nose. He played with the ends for a few moments, wrapping them around his finger as he gazed at her. She stirred in her sleep and pressed herself even closer to him. He brushed her hair aside and pressed his nose into the soft skin of her neck. Home—that’s what she smelled like. She was his home under his fingertips.

After his mother’s death, he had never felt a sense of belonging anywhere. But now, he belonged to her. He never thought home would be under someone's gaze, in somebody's arms.

He found his home in her, whether in Delhi or London. As long as his arms, mind, and soul were wrapped around her, he was home. For so long, his mind, heart, and soul had been at war until she came into his life, busting down the walls he had built around himself.  For the first time in years, his mind, heart, and body were at peace with one another. She made him utterly and profoundly weak for her, and strangely, he found strength in that weakness.

He didn’t believe in destiny. But if he had one, it was her.

"Pagal," he chuckled softly as his wife kept pushing against him, nearly shoving him out of bed, while hogging the blanket.

"Khushi?"

"five more minutes". she mumbled in the pillow.

He rearranged them under the blanket, their bodies moulding perfectly together. Her back fit snugly against his chest, and his heart beat in sync with hers as if they were one. A deep need engulfed him as her soft curves aligned with his body. His skin tingled with desire. It was different from the usual desire her skin stirred in him; this was a need to be so close to her that where she started and he ended would blur. It was a longing to connect not only their bodies but their hearts as well.

He had one arm under her head, with his other arm he brought her lower body incredibly close to him. His hand wandered over her-tracing her thigh, hips, and the soft skin of her belly. The sight of his hand on her skin was always a pleasure to behold. It stirred an unusual sense of possessiveness within him. He hooked her leg across his hips and slid his hand between her legs. He felt her body respond to his touch as he began to kiss her neck. He whispered in her ear, "It would be very gracious of you, Mrs. Raizada, if you woke up."

"Hmm... Arnav?" Sleepily, she turned her head to look at him over her shoulder, becoming aware of the havoc he was causing in her body. "It's an interesting way to wake someone up."

"Glad to please you, Your Highness," The rasp of his sleepy voice caressed the skin of her shoulder. He captured her lips in a sweet kiss. "I like you in the morning."

"Just in the morning?"

"I like you all the time, but especially in the morning. Sleepy, warm, soft—it's intoxicating." The words said against her skin sent ripples down her body.

As his touch hit a sensitive spot, her hand suddenly shot out to grip his thigh, her nails marking his skin. She hid her face in his arm under her head and bit the skin. A slight hiss escaped him, and she promptly released his skin and looked at him over her shoulder. "Sorry."

"It's okay... biwi ho tum meri... haq hai tumhara... mujh pe," he whispered in her neck as he entered her from behind. He adjusted her leg that was across his hip, bending it slightly and laying it flat on the bed as he began to thrust into her. His arm under her head hooked around her neck to hold one of her breasts, while his other hand rested on her tummy, palm flat on the surface. He held her still as he drove into her with deep, languid strokes.

Both of her hands held his wrists as she craned her neck, seeking his lips. He gave her earlobe a soft bite, soothing it with his tongue. Releasing her earlobe, he captured her waiting lips. Her breath hitched as his hand travelled to her throat, caressing the soft skin under his calloused fingers, before gripping her gently. He held her jaw fixed between his thumb and index finger as he deepened the kiss.

Khushi had never been with him like this before. He felt so different this way. His touch was driving her out of her senses as the rain pitter-pattered outside.

"I need to see your face."

All of a sudden, he flipped her over to face him and slid into her easily, making her gasp. He was always so consuming, filling up everything inside her, she lacked. he was everywhere all at once. His hips moved faster, out of rhythm, frantic almost.

Slicked with sweat they shifted and grinded against each other. Their panting and shudders blended into each other. Khushi felt herself getting closer to the edge. That high only he could bring her to. The sounds of his pleasure resonated inside her mind and urged her towards her own. He knew that she was almost there just like she knew he was almost there as well.

She bit her lip and moaned as her walls clamped down around him. He dropped his head to her neck, pressing hot, wet kisses as he groaned. Her legs wrapped around him tighter. His hands swept down her sides as she kissed away the sweat on his brow. He peppered kisses along her hairline while she regained her composure, her hands stroking his hair, scratching his scalp lightly with her nails.

He rested his head on her chest, feeling her heart flutter beneath his ear. The soothing caresses on his head almost lulled him to sleep. His weight was crushing her but it was comforting at the same time as well. He felt like a warm blanket. He felt her press a kiss on his head. "You didn’t sleep well last night," she murmured.

Khushi patiently waited for his response as she continued to play with his hair. "I don't know what to do." His voice sounded so lost and small, a stark contrast to the confident man she knew. She wanted to take the despair from his voice, to protect him from everything and make his pain go away. He rasped almost inaudibly, "How can I care for a child who came from so much pain? All she reminds me of is my mother’s lifeless body hanging from the ceiling."

Khushi blinked back tears as she felt wetness gather in her chest. "I know you want to do the right thing, but nobody will blame you if you don’t want to be actively involved in her life. You can enroll her in a boarding school or give her up for adoption, where she would be well taken care of." She paused, trying her best to steady her voice. "After all, she is innocent in all of this."

Arnav rolled over and flopped onto his side of the bed, throwing his arm over his eyes to collect himself. Khushi drew the covers over their bodies and turned to face him. Popping her head on her elbow, she waited for him to let her in again.

When he removed his arm from his eyes and looked at her, she simply met his gaze with a small smile. He returned her smile and gathered her into his arms as she tucked her head under his chin.

"That’s why I don’t want to fail her like my father failed my mother, giving her hope only to snatch it all away, just because I can’t move past my mother’s pain."

"You are not your father, Arnav." She raised her head to look at him, resting her chin on his shoulder. "You will make the right decision when the time comes."

"How can I when I can't even decide what she needs the most, so I could at least provide her with that?"

"Maybe she just needs someone to look at her and realize that there's more to her than her father's infidelity."

This time, nobody hid their tears. He lay bare and raw at her fingertips as she carefully picked up his broken pieces, caressing them and keeping them safe to return to him. She tore apart his demons and flicked them away with her fingers. She kissed away the tears from the corner of his eye. "What about trying to be someone for her that you always wished you had in your life?"

Worshipper's Guide to Indirect Worship

This is going to be my sfw guide for less direct methods of contact and digital altars, I may make an nsfw guide at some point on my own as a counterpart to this but for now...

Digital Shrines

Digital shrines are a good format for indirect worship, because you can curate it from anywhere, and no one will know. Technically I have two digital altars but one is more a back up of the other. One is I have a folder on my computer that contains all the media of the shrine, and the shrine itself is on my personal discord server. Usually I separate the shrine itself into media, devotionals, personal devotionals, writings, and links by using different discord channels. The channels breakdown like this for me:

Media: photos and videos of solely them

Devotionals: images I find on the internet that I feel embody our relationship, media created by someone else. Also picrews usually

Personal Devotionals: Visual media I have personally made to embody our relationship and can take full credit for creating. (This is a specific folder I made just to keep my art and others art separate)

Writings: Poems, songs, rambles, gushing, fantasies, etc. Any thought you have about them that's important enough to write down, put it here.

Links: I use this as a dumping ground for ideas I got from articles, purchases I want to make, or anything that requires a link to something else but directly relates to my worship of My Goddess.

Tumblr can also be a general dumping grounds kind of shrine, where I would not be too honest tbh, but it's a start. I prefer keeping my shrines private for the most part. My general advice is to stay away from tumblr for everything because you're not going to feel 1000% comfortable expressing your worship to its full extent because of the possibility of it being found by strangers. Also some things are just tmi to be honest. I have writings in my folder documenting times me and My Goddess have banged in detail so I don't forget. Tumblr doesn't need that kind of detail on here. So try and keep shrines at least somewhat private for your own sake. People are dicks.

As for advice for things to do to worship indirectly (and this goes hand in hand with the shrine a little bit) here's a list with general advice and ideas:

Scrapbook/Junk Journal about them (I'm biased this is a personal favorite of mine). Get a notebook, some scrapbook supplies, and either dedicate it to photos of your beloved or journal about any time you guys interact in ways that feel meaningful to you! I keep one physical scrapbook that I use for collages for My Goddess's photos, and am planning to start a junk journal for more writing purposes. I'll probably solely be using it to write about personal interactions with My Goddess, and on slower days, things I love about Her in general. It's both kinda a traditional journal and a part of my obsessive behaviors. You can also do stuff like this digitally with moodboard and collage makers like Canva which have free options.

Document about them. This is kinda vague so I'll explain. As part of my shrine, I have a document I'm building dedicated to bullet note points about My Goddess. If She randomly drops a fact on me about Her childhood, or Her interests. I write it down there so I don't forget. I want to be a good worshipper so I want to be an expert in everything about Her. I usually use a note taking app for this that I can organize into subgroups. Notion is a favorite of mine (despite them selling their soul to the AI overlords sigh) because it allows a lot of creative freedom in organizing the documents AND it's linked to my email so I can't lose it. Obviously, a google doc will accomplish the exact same thing, however my entire personality type is best described as extra, so I have to do things with extra effort at all times.

Write for them. This is where my pagan background kicks in a little bit, but in certain pagan traditions, especially stuff like Hellenic Polytheism, writing hymns or poems or songs for the gods was very important to their practices. So why not write those things for your God? It doesn't need to be shared, it can be bad, it can be whatever it wants to be. What I usually do, is I write poems for My Goddess, and keep them in my junk journal or digital shrine, depending on if I'm working physically or digitally, and if I'm feeling brave I'll share it with Her, but most times, they stay hidden in the depths of my shrine stuff.

Biggest overall piece of advice, create for them. Nothing shows devotion, quite like the personal experience of making something for someone else even if they never see it. Honor the Gods with the act of Creation, ya know?? It doesn't even have to require you to be good at drawing or whatever. Are you someone who gardens? Name a plant after them. Like makeup? Figure out what makeup styles they prefer on your chosen gender and wear those all the time, even if they're not there to see. Sewing? Make a stuffed animal of them. Speed runs? Dedicate every run to them, create a record for them. It can be as big or as mundane as you want and none of it has to be outwardly expressed to the other person. Just dedicate whatever hobby you have to them, and suddenly you'll have tons of shrine material.

Now for the quick part, of this!

General Worship Tips! (These are more indirect tho)

When getting dressed, pick outfits you know they'll appreciate. (Just please don't sacrifice your personal style for this)

Capitalize their name/title no matter what. They deserve the respect of one extra button push.

Write letters, even if you live close, even if you see them everyday, and even if you never send them. Use this as a format to express your emotions unbarred.

Save every photo they send you of themselves. If you need to edit people out of the photo do it, but you better be saving every instance of themselves they give you.

Fill your space with things that express yourself yes, but also have stuff that reminds you of them. Do they have a favorite animal? Buy those kinds of stuffed animals. They say they like certain types of aesthetics? Put some of that decor in your space.

I don't paint my nails, but if you do, paint them their favorite color.

Have dedicated jewelry pieces for them. While My Goddess did not give it to me, I have a memory of them associated with a bracelet I wear every single day. You can just buy a piece of jewelry and assign it as a symbol to them. They don't have to know.

Interact with their interests, with passion. Do your best to care about everything they care about. It'll give you guys tons of stuff to do, and help you understand them better.

Make pinterest boards dedicated to certain moments you want i.e. first date, wedding, future house/apartment dreams, pets you want with them, nursery room ideas, etc.

Make playlists dedicated to them.

Chronicle of Roses Devlog 1: Design Notes Ronya

Hiya ! This is the first devlog of Chronicle of Roses ! I’m Scarlett, the narrative and game’s designer and today I will showcase the game’s protagonist, Ronya. Showing the influences that helped me mould her character and the concepts for her design as well. This is still early in development and subject to change, those changes will be clear as the project continues.

This game is set in the holy city of Lorne, based in a highly theocratic society headed by a holy prophet worshipped as a protector & harbinger of safety. The citizens heavily disdain witchcraft and magic, anything that goes against their holy scripture. In a cruel twist of fate, Ronya was born with the markings and blood of a witch. Ronya was orphaned as a young child and was taken in personally by the holy prophet Ursula. Ronya was raised to be a soldier, climbing the ranks to the top despite her persecution. Eventually, she became a ‘Raven’, a member of the prophet’s most trusted inner circle of soldiers. Carrying out espionage, scouting, and assassinations under Ursula’s direct orders. 

Throughout the game, we follow Ronya as she searches for her lost wife in the newly corrupted Lorne, having to fight old neighbours and comrades whose minds have been lost. Battling against the strings of fate, old prophecies, and horrors beyond human comprehension.

Li's Early Concept Art

Ronya’s inspiration is from a plethora of stories and mythology. Still, a few of the main ones are Ronja the robber's daughter, a Swedish kids' tale about two kids from rival robbers gangs becoming friends, leading to the two gangs making peace eventually. My early idea for Ronya was more feral and outgoing, much like the Ronja of Astrid Lindgren, but we developed her to be more restrained and no-nonsense. 

Norse mythology was a heavy surplus of inspiration for Chronicle of Roses, especially for Ronya. We were inspired by Huginn and Muninn, Odin's ravens, and the valkyries of Valhalla. This is where the raven, winged and death motifs came from.

Signalis, Silent Hill, Bloodborne and Dead Space, were heavy inspirations for the game’s plot and characters. Elster as well as Kratos from God of War (2018) were the characters that inspired me to make Ronya more no-nonsense and hard-set on saving the person she loves most. The existential and personal horror of those games were heavy inspirations for COR; Ronya is looking for her wife, time and space are warped and fragmented, and the story is incredibly personal and character-driven. Where the horror is directly linked with a character's mental health, and tackles heavy themes of motherhood, codependency, and hate.

Scarlett's Moodboard

Ronya’s armour and equipment, as well as the rest of the game, are heavily based on the mid-1600s. A time of religious turmoil and witch hunts. Ronya’s main weapon is similar to a Polish sabre, which saw its popularity rise through Europe during the Thirty Years War, & she has access to bombs and early flintlocks, as stealth is not particularly a worry anymore. Her armour is based on the early 1500s to mid-1600s armour that was used throughout Europe. 

My intention with her design was to try and showcase a quiet specialist, struggling with her born identity, the use of the black armour and cloak was to symbolise her relation with death. Her hair used to be black in our early designs, but as we started figuring out the different covens and Ronya’s link to fire and magic, we changed to make her hair long and red, almost like a mane, to showcase that separation between her societal identity and her actual identity. To really hit it home with the split of her personhood, we gave her a burn across her face, splitting her face in two, she has loads of other burn scars but they can’t be seen under the armour.

Ronya’s story is one of self-actualisation and self-acceptance, her story is a very personal one to me as it is a heavy allegory of queerness and transness, and I’m literally the gayest queer to ever exist and I’m about to start my hormones this coming week ! Ronya’s themes of codependency and having to find purpose and meaning for herself also add to the list of things I grapple with. I use my art to shed light on those struggles to hopefully make someone who relates to this connect with it, see that they’re not alone, and potentially to find my work helpful in their journey of growth. 

For next time ! We will showcase Ronya’s and Li’s favourite character, Lilith, the second most important character in the plot of Chronicle of Roses (Ronya being third~).
