Funny and cool action stuff happened. Heavy angst happened. But the end credits were silent this time. They were never quiet before. Silence was the way to go after the loud "FUCK".

You know what's actually cringe? You know what the real cringe in this world is?
Making up rules on how fictional creatures or ideas should be portrayed, and getting mad about it when people don't follow these 'rules' you made up.
For example,
Dragons.
Like fam, dragons aren't real. They are whatever the hell someone wants them to be. If in your headworld there are these bananas that have eight spider legs and like ice skate and you wanna call them dragons, then damn it, they are DRAGONS.

A piece of media can have a group of people who are wayy too hard on it and the same piece of media can also be imperfect. Like, the urge to defend and negate any valid critiques is there but that’s also not good. The same piece of media can bring you so much joy too btw.

Man, Helluva is not as funny for me as it used to, Hazbin Hotel is in coma, Villainous six feet underground...
All the hopes and dreams I had in 2018-2019 for those two creators are being crushed so far. Fuck... Fucking fuck.

Rewatching the Hazbin pilot again, and ya’ll remember how Angel Dust was actually a dick on purpose? He didn’t care about the hotel, he was a selfish candidate who was just in it for the rent, he talked shit about Charlie and Vaggie behind their backs, he was a reckless jackass who didn’t know when to read the room and that was the point. He wasn’t a good person and he especially didn’t like or trust Charlie and Vaggie, so seeing his arc of gaining friends and being compassionate towards the people he didn’t appreciate at first in episode fucking 4/6 of the first season is so wild to me.
It’s so rushed and forced, especially for a character like Angel. It was clear from the pilot that while he had some redeeming qualities, getting along with others would take time. In the show however they manage to woobify him even more than he already was. He’s just so damn sensitive, there’s a big difference between him and pilot Angel. Pilot Angel didn’t give a shit about what other people thought of him, and he owned it. Show Angel is incredibly sensitive and pissed off at every little thing, he’s so whiny and desperate for some kind of approval, which on its own isn’t bad, it’s just too fast, not just that but it’s sudden with no buildup. In episode 2 of the show, he gets sad for some reason when Charlie is complimenting Sir Pen. Then in episode 4, he suddenly cares about her and there’s no explanation to why, same goes for Nifty in episode 6. Like yeah it’s nice to see him care about others but you forget to show us WHY he cares. Viv has gone on to say before that his character involves him putting walls up and blocking people out in fear of him getting hurt, so like….what happened to that lol, cause that isn’t showcased in the show.
Husk has the same issue. This guy is supposed to be a grumpy drunk, in the pilot we know he only took the bartending job for the booze. He’s a messy guy who doesn’t like anyone, and it should have been awhile till he actually started to care about people. Instead he’s like..almost instantly friendly after episode 4. This is the same writing issues Helluva Boss had btw. Viv is so incredibly desperate for you to like her flawed/bad characters that rather than taking the time to actually show them slowly improving, she instantly paints them out to be sweet and expects you to go along with it.

Hot take: the same people who complain about Chaggie being hardly a romantic relationship would accuse Vivziepop of queerbaiting if they weren't explicitly romantic.
Also for the people who didn't recognise they were together, Vaggie only ever letting her guard down around Charlie, singing half a song in episode three about how she's dedicating herself to fighting for her, and literally growing her wings back by recognising her cause in life is to fight for her love for Charlie is so blatant that you have to be watching it in bad faith to not recognise it.
Basically, stop telling a sapphic creator her sapphic characters aren't the right kind of sapphic and don't even count as sapphic because you don't personally like it.
(Btw I should probably say despite being a huge critic of Helluva Boss, I really fucking enjoyed Hazbin Hotel and I will discuss why eventually.)

Let's Restructure Helluva Boss
Helluva Boss has major pacing and structuring problems due to it cramming in far too many plotlines within 1-2 seasons, leading to the show feeling cluttered and unfocused. So, let's try to fix these issues by restructuring Helluva Boss and each of its plotlines so the show feels more focused.
I'll make the show have three seasons, that should be enough.
First, the show would focus more on its actual premise of the Imps going on misadventures to kill people for clients. The show can have other plotlines but they must be in the background.
Stolas could have his own plotline and character arc throughout seasons 2&3 about him realizing his mistakes and growing as a person and making amends with Stella and Octavia (btw this is in the same thing as my Stella rewrite), but It'll be in the background and not take up too much screentime from the show's premise so it could stay focused.
Season 1 would just be purely episodic adventures
Season 2 could introduce the Cherubs as antagonists and rivals for the Imps.
Season 3 could then introduce the Dhorks as antagonists and rivals as well and have them be the final antagonists of the show
Some plotlines like Blitz's relationship with Verosika could also be implemented fine but they can't take up too much screen time from the show's premise
Every other plotline I did not mention will be scrapped.
The show could have some serialized elements in it during seasons 2&3 but should mostly remain episodic.
Each season could have 20 episodes
The show will now be a bit more focused now that it's not cramming in so many plotlines at once
What do y'all think?

Boo, I'm back with more of my opinions on Helluva Boss, today I will talk about the newest episode, 'The Full Moon'.
Tumblr media
Okay, can I just say that this was the most underwhelming, anticlimactic, disappointing and overhyped episode in the entire series. No offense to hardcore Stolitz fans, but this episode ain't it, chief.
I'm going to be completely honest, I wasn't expecting much from this episode, because from what I've seen before, with previous episodes, they kept making Stolas the victim, and Blitzo just had to deal with it. The same thing happens here, so you're not missing out on anything. But one thing I will admit, was that this episode disappointed me more than any other episode-
Let me explain. So, Viv kept hyping up her fans, by saying that the episode was coming out soon. I know this because my entire Instagram feed was mostly filled with videos of Viv at a con or whatever saying shit like "The Full Moon episode is coming this Friday! Stay tuned!" Or people just posting videos of Stolitz and acting all sad (yet excited) about the episode coming soon.
I didn't pay much attention to it, because I don't really care about Helluva Boss. But I will admit that this episode was SO overhyped, and it made me think like "damn, this episode better be good, because Viv is spewing out the name 'Full Moon' from all her pores-". But nope, this episode was incredibly boring and it adds nothing to the lore, and it was misleading.
You see, the entire episode doesn't even focus on Stolas and Blitzo, but instead we have to watch the Cherubs and the D.H.O.R.K.S team up with each other and get their revenge on IMP.
Tumblr media
Honestly this episode was just 'Oops' 2.0, but more overhyped. And I get that they did this for the run-time I guess, but honestly this was just so painful to watch- I got bored from the moment the episode began and we had to see Stolas and Blitzo singing about meeting up with each other (which btw, I kept getting spoiled on YouTube. People were posting the song before the episode even came out, so honestly I was not impressed by the song). So yeah, moving on, this is the episode that the people have all been waiting for, and it turns out that it was hella disappointing.
The episode begins with Stolas feeling nervous about meeting up with Blitzo, for the usual sex schtick they have for the book. And Blitzo is excited to see Stolas because they haven't seen each other in a while. The song plays, blah blah blah whatever. Then we move on to Blitzo going to random sex stores to buy sex toys and other weird shit to "spice things up". Meanwhile, we have the Cherubs in the human world, doing random shit they deem will 'help them get back to heaven'.
Then they get captured by the D.H.O.R.K.S and they eventually team up, then they make the Cherubs wear robot suits that look like the IMP gang themselves. Then they are somehow magically transported to the Lust Ring, and they try to kill Blitzo, but they fail to do so, cuz they're stupid.
We get some "awesome" plot armor, where Moxie, Millie and Loona fight the Cherubs in the Lust Ring and Blitzo is completely unaware of everything happening behind him. Then we get to the part where he goes to Stolas' house, and shit gets serious.
So Blitzo is all excited to make Stolas feel good or whatever, and Stolas is like "I want the book back, permanently." So Blitzo freaks out and tries to convince him not to take the book. But then Stolas gives him an Asmodean crystal, and he tells Blitzo that he no longer needs to come back to do anything sexual with him. And then he tells Blitzo that he had feelings for him, and that it wasn't always about sex.
Which I think is bullshit, because from what we've seen in previous episodes, Stolas never cared about Blitzo, he was just using him, abusing him and treating him like a plaything.
Of course, Blitzo thinks it's a joke (and I honestly don't blame him). But when Stolas mentions he's being serious, Blitzo gets pissed off and lashes out.
Tumblr media
Honestly, this scene felt pretty satisfying in my opinion, despite the fact that I don't like Blitzo and I think he sucks as a character, it feels good to see him stand up to Stolas. But I do have to admit, the scene felt quite short and I was expecting a bit more on Stolas' part. He just cries like a little bitch, and says goodbye. Anyway, yeah, this episode wasn't great. Sorry for making this post so long but whatever- I had to get this out of my chest. Alright bye!

its really hard to take any comparisons of stolas to other abusive characters seriously because i genuinely dont think viv comprehends shes written an abuser, the same way other authors can comprehend theyve written abusers. she self projects so heavily onto him and acts like his sass is justified to the point pretty much everyone, even fans and critics, knows that s3 will just end up with him living with blitz and working for IMP (which was foreshadowed just oh so subtly in the helluvababies season 2 premiere,) after losing everything (oh no, the consequences of my actions!) because of the full moon deal HE decided to start. he started out doing something bad, acknowledged it once (didnt even apologize to blitz for the deal btw,) and got go back to his life of luxury after his former sex slave said no to his love. he took advantage of the main character in the very first episode and will still be rewarded with him presented as stolas's knight in shining armor, a family who will unconditionally love him because of fucking course they will even though they know their boss had to fuck him or else they wouldnt have their "meal ticket", and eventually, most probably, his daughters forgiveness after she cut him out of his life for.. taking antidepressants. not for neglecting her, not for not teaching her anything about the book she was solely created for, for 17 years, before letting someone else have it without a single worry of what could happen to it, and certainly not because she cheated on his mom with some "weird red dickhead" i can watch other shows with the understanding (most of the time) that that character probably will receive some kind of growth, karma, acknowledgement, or change of their terrible behavior if theyre intentionally written as toxic. or, if their toxicity is supposed to be the point, for them to go full ham with it. helluva boss is neither to me; its abuse tactics and toxic patterns presented as good, like gaslighting, triangulation, and codependency. and an audience like vivs will digest these ideas subconsciously as good if they have no critical thinking skills of their own, which most of them dont. and all while being too afraid to actually hold abusers accountable in a setting like hell of all places. thats why none of the characters even acknowledge the actually shitty things stolas does and arent allowed to not forgive him- because the creator herself is an abuser who doesnt understand, or doesnt want to understand, that being held accountable is about ALWAYS acknowledging the mistakes you made and STILL trying to be better, even if the people you hurt still hate you. not apologizing once, and then getting pissed someone didnt automatically forgive you, as if your remorse means you're entitled to forgiveness. thats how stolas thinks, because thats how she thinks, and thats terrible. i cant even watch these shows in a "im a messy bitch who lives 4 drama" way as much as i want to because watching an abuser get everything he wants after a season of straight up cloaca sucking is NOT drama. its just incredibly depressing and makes me think about the piles of money that couldve been used to make anything other then this, instead of the creators self insert fanfiction of "no one is allowed to judge my character based on my past selfish actions: the overpriced, overstuffed with expensive celebs while i claim i cant fairly pay my animators i force to work exclusively on my shows the musical!"
I think you're spot on, unfortunately. If it weren't for the fanbase slavishly, cultishly lapping up everything Viv gives them and making it a point to incorporate it into their own lives, it would be a fascinating look at how an abusive person sees themselves. Stolas's justifications really are Viv's justifications, and she'll never see him as an abuser for the same reason she'll never see herself as one.
