regulus black serial killer AU in which james and barty are dating, so regulus kills barty out of jealousy and then wiggles his way into james’ life to “comfort him” until james falls in love with him

except, james is fully aware of all of this and is very, very into it. so sometimes he’ll make regulus jealous by talking for a bit too long with someone else, just so regulus will come home that night covered in their blood. and james doesn’t care how many people regulus kills as long as regulus is safe and unharmed

bonus points for barty as a bitchy ghost “haunting” regulus after the murder and constantly complaining or encouraging regulus’ violent behaviour

thinking about james teaching regulus how to swim after the cave

reg is terrified and won't top clinging to him and james doesn't mind, he's perfectly patient, taking regulus out to swim in the river by effie and monty's every single day that the water's warm enough and then to the local muggle pool to teach him

eventually regulus gets to be a pretty strong swimmer and actually enjoys swimming, but sometimes he still panics and james ends up pulling reg around with him again

sometimes regulus just holds onto james and james will be jumping around and swimming fast just to make reg laugh

and then after they dry off james wraps him in a fluffy blanket and tells him how well he did (even if he got water in his nose and ended up panicking and almost drowning james)

Ok but jegulus band au where they broke up a bit ago over a misunderstanding cuz theyre incapable of communicating and regulus writes golden retriever boy and James writes yours and they come out within days of each other and like the absolute chaos that comes from that

cause the wizarding world doesn't seem to have racism, instead it has blood supremacy. so james probably isn't used to racism. which means when when he's going out into the muggle world he's not really gonna know what is happening, so perhaps his parents or remus or peter try to explain it to him but all of them would probably try to just brush it over in fear of upsetting him.

but lily, who knows what racism is like from secondhand experiences (unless you hc lily as poc as i know some people do), and is a muggleborn in the wizarding world, could likely connect with james over this- both understanding each other more.

I just saw someone post really cool fanart that they made of dorlily (which is dorcas and lily if you didn't know) and someone in the comments said "when did we start shipping dorcas and lily? I'm lost" and it made me really think about how this fandom, the marauders fandom spesifically, has this sort of hive mindset. It's like every opinion must be collective or favoured by a large majority. "when did WE start shipping" someone posted a fanart of a ship they like. it is not a WE matter. it is a them matter and has nothing to do with you, so what does that even mean. And I think this hive mentality really contributes to how toxic this fandom has become, why its so hard for people to accept headcanons without criticizing the creators for having those headcanons, why there's constant unnecessary ship wars. we all do not need to agree. we all do not need to have the same opinions in this fandom, in fact its making the situation worse. i am begging you all to start thinking about how to behave in fandom spaces.
