btw the reason you end up with a candidate like Biden that lacks sufficient sway within his own party, ignores constituents, and is unfit for his position is that all you have to do is bank on people's fear of their basic rights being revoked outweighing their faith in democracy. You can repeat this cycle ad nauseam and so long as your voter base keeps acquiescing to having their wishes and demands ignored, you can remain in power while ignoring them indefinitely. That's how two-party democracy crumbles and devolves into fascism.
