Saison du Potage: featuring this super simple Potato & Carrot soup 🥕🥔

If you're looking for one of the easiest soup recipes, look no further! With the cold months arriving rather rapidly, this soup can be prepared very quickly and will be guaranteed to be a hit.

I N G R E D I E N T S · 2 boxes of beef broth (I used Campbell's low sodium boxes, but you can use whichever you prefer. Substitute with vegetable broth to be vegetarian-friendly) · Approximately 2.5lbs of carrots · Approximately 6-8 Yukon Gold Yellow potatoes, but you can use Russetts as well. · About 1/4 of a Spanish Onion · 1 tsp of minced garlic (fresh or from jar works) · 2 tbsp of Butter · 2-3 tbsp of Black Pepper or to taste (you want the soup to have a nice peppery kick to it) · 1 tbsp of Oregano · 1 tbsp of Basil · 2-3 Bay Leaves

T O O L S · Cutting board · Knife to chop carrots, potatoes, and onions with · Big cooking pot · Ladel · Blender with a Purée function (ideally)

P R E P T I M E · Start by cutting your onion and dicing it finely (doesn't have to be perfect, we'll be putting this in a blender in the end). Once the onion is cut, set aside for now · Peel carrots and chop them into medium-thick pieces. Once chopped, set aside. · Peel potatoes and chop them into medium-sized cubes. Once chopped, set aside.

R E C I P E · Start by heating your big pot on the stove, medium-high heat. Once hot, add your butter and let it melt. Once melted, add the minced garlic and let it sweat for 1-2 mins. Once the garlic looks translucent, add onion to the pot. Simmer until the onion is soft and translucent. · After sweating the garlic and onion, add one box of the broth and the carrots. Let simmer for approximately 10 minutes. · After the carrots have simmered for 10 minutes, add the last box of broth to the pot and add potatoes. Let simmer for 5-8 minutes. · After the potatoes have been simmering, add the bay leaves, black pepper, oregano, and basil. Stir occasionally. · Let simmer on medium heat for approximately one hour, or until potatoes and carrots are sufficiently tender. · Remove from heat and let cool for approximately 15 minutes. · Once cooled down, remove the bay leaves, take the ladle, and add the contents of the pot (with a greater ratio of vegetables to broth) to the blender. · Select the purée option until you get a thick consistency. Once puréed, move to a heat-safe bowl. Continue this process until all contents have been processed in the blender. · Let cool down for an additional 10 minutes. · Serve in a bowl with fresh pieces of baguette. Voilà, enjoy la bonne bouffe 🍽️

-His fur is soft, short, but s o f t. Kalim would love his fur being pampered, but I think he would be a bit tense when it comes to water. Hope you're a fast runner cuz when it's nail clipping time, Kalim runs and I mean R U N S fast. 1. Because claw clippers scary, 2. Tag.

-Speaking of fast, do not give Kalim a catnip toy, last time he played with said catnip toy, he became hyper and jUMped on every high place in sight at the shelter and zoomed around a room in circles that even Kibbie Jamil had to come in to stop him. Luckily he calmed down and rested for the day.

-Ooooo when it's feeding time, he's all

Cuz he loves feeding time!!! Especially when Jamil helps out in the kitchen to make the food, sometimes Kalim would come next to your side to stare at you with these beanie eyes cuz he wants to taste le s p i c e. Luckily you give him only a little bit but he jdjdnfjdjfidnd!!! Loves it ❤️

-HIM!!! WITH!!! OTTER TOY!!! Literally Kalim has all these toys but the most he loves to cuddle with is the otter toy you gave him!! It's so soft that Kalim takes it with him to cuddle with you while relax on break ❤️

-Therapy cat #2 next to kibbie Trey

-Jamil honestly rarely comes to greet, unless if it's to pull Kalim off your leg when he climbs. However if he DOES make an appearance, Jamil will come by and gently boop his snoot on your leg as a greeting before walking away as if nothing happened.

-SO!!!!! SILKY SMOOTH!!!!!!!! Jamil may seem like he doesn't like to be brushed, but his tail literally gives it away and especially his P U R R S. He's not fond of bathing time, however very cooperative and will signal you about any tangles in his fur so you can be careful

-Like kibbie Trey, Jamil helps out in the kitchen! Will push and pull ingredients for food, even tap some salt, pepper, or any spice in the kitchen in case the recipe needs more seasoning!

-Another cat that rarely meows! Jamil only meows around Kalim to scold him or maybe even talk, but Jamil will modtly give a gesture or a signal for something, won't meow for anything. However, if you manage to warm up Jamil, you'll hear his rare meows! Ooooo and his purrs too~

-Please Jamil may not seem like it but he's N E E D Y, whenever you play with Kalim or give pets to other cats, Jamil is just

Jamil wants attention too!! Except he'll be a big tsun about it and slap away your hand when you try to pet him. No worries though! He will come around to apologize and cuddle with you when you're both alone ❤️

Depending on how much your quirk impacts your instincts, you might have tried to pounce on Dark Shadow outside of quirk training (or in quirk training when DS was just chillin)

So it may have taken a bit of convincing on Fumikage’s part for Dark Shadow to give you another chance

People find it kind of odd that of all things, a cat and a bird are dating. Weird fuckin world

He finds cuddling to be very intimate, (he’s not really used to physical affection) so when you curl around him he’s as stiff as a board

Mildly less nervous around you because part of your quirk is a physical mutation, like him

He’s a gentleman, probably panics internally when your tail brushes against him

Gets flustered when you nuzzle him or ask him to pet you (he loves it he’s just a ball of nerves around you)

Cuddles are on another level with this guy. How fuzzy and cuddly you are combined with his arms and size is a recipe for the PERFECT cuddles.

(Did y’all see how Mezo was sleeping during the training camp? That was so cute, I can totally imagine him sleeping like that with his s/o in front of him w/ their back against him)

When you’re facing him during cuddles, he subconsciously strokes your back and ears during his sleep

He won’t comment on your purring, just know that he’s trying not to jump up and down

He might ask you to help him with his balance and agility during training. He’s a big guy, and the bigger you are, the harder you fall. He knows this and doesn’t want to be caught off guard

He will absolutely hold you if you ask him to (he holds your in like a little basket, think of Tsu during the provisional license exam)

He learns to read your body language very quickly, such as a thrashing tail, or the low yowl that starts in your throat when upset. Or your tail swaying softly and blinking slowly when calm and happy

Loves everything about your quirk

LOVES to scratch your ears and pet you

Fav thing is when cuddling with you, taking turns doing each other’s hair (or running one another’s hands through each other’s hair)

sung scrubbed a hand over his forehead and into his hair. “i’m really busy, mom. we’ve just started promoting again and all.”

“you’re always going to be busy. but you found time before between promotions, so why not now?”

his ceiling was quite plain. was that common? suddenly, his memory wiped, unable to recall any ceilings he’d ever seen aside from the one right in front of his face.

--she wasn’t wrong. he’d been avoiding her offers since they came back into the playing field last november, but he was running out of reasons to not agree. at a certain point, even sung didn’t know why he was resisting anymore, especially after having already disappointed her so greatly by telling her he wasn’t dating yujin back around the new year. part of him felt like he owed her some level of happiness after that fiasco.

on top of that, he wasn’t happy about where he was at in his love life. it’d taken a while for him to be able to admit it to himself, but he hadn’t ever truly been craving lust. it was always a relationship he hoped for at the end of a night where a door shut in his face once again. dejected, rejected, and feeling unloved, none of that was his style. while no strings attached relationships may serve his career, they wouldn’t serve his heart. who was to say getting back into the blind date game wouldn’t? his mother knew him better than almost anyone, and she’d set him up with absolutely lovely women in the past. his relationships with them had a beauty to them, and even in their worst moments, still pleased his parents. the best dates to him were when they were able to meet up with his family and spend a night together playing with his nephew and niece, playing card games, eating his mother’s delicious food and sharing recipes. he ached to have that back in his life.

she was sweet, demure, the picture of a perfect conservative church girl. immediately sung was able to see why his mum wanted to set them up. he found her charming and enjoyable to speak with

But, she was born in 2002, which sung didnt learn until that date

and despite joking sung’s a cradle robber bc he dated 98 back when he was 94, 95 > 02 is too big of a difference for it not to just feel like a younger sister he’s speaking to

though she had the aura of being wise due to her conservativeness, it became clear in their conversation she had a 20yos sheltered mindset. at the end of the date, sung wanted to keep in contact, but more because he wanted to take care of her rather than continue to date

the second was a chemistry problem on sung’s side

in the first seconds of meeting, sung pegged her as a trendy cool girl type, and while that stuck, it also became clear early on in the conversation that she was also the product of old money, and it showed

while it started with subtle mentions of a life sung didn’t quite understand, he made, as he’d put it, the mistake of poking the dragon, and asking her specifically about her views on gifts, and when that was met with a monetary answer, sung couldn’t get it out of his head that they would never be able to work long term considering how strongly he believes wealth is a privilege that ought be shared with those who didn’t have it

the date didn’t last long, and they didn’t exchange numbers at the end of the night

the third date sung thought was perfect. she seemed reserved, perhaps shy, when they first greeted each other, but she opened up rather easily once they started going. sung loved how much brighter she became talking about her hobbies and interests, especially because they shared many in common

her excitement made him more excited in turn, and they ended up talking long enough that he forgot what time it was, and had his manager calling him asking where he was. they exchanged numbers in a flurry, and sung messaged her to ask for a second date as soon as he had a little free time

they set up for a second date and, due to the restrictions of being a public figure, sung did what he could, and set up a little picnic in a back room of his parents’ restaurant. he greeted her with a variety bouquet of flowers, and they ate together and had similar fun conversation

at one point she stopped speaking, and was just Looking at him, and sung read it as her wanting him to kiss her, so he leaned in, but a breath away she put her hand on his shoulder to stop him and whispered that she thinks she only sees him as a friend

though he said he was okay w it and it wasnt like he developed feelings, the encounter was awkward enough that saying they’ll keep in touch meant a couple of far apart messages before silence

four is one of my least fave numbers. it comes right after one of the best numbers, three, and is an even number which are worse on default, and is doubling up on two, which is also not a great number

his fourth date was the best, and the only one to actually go anywhere, but obviously not perfect (spoiler the bitch is gay)

jihyun is someone who thinks about love quite similarly to sung

when they first started talking, sung didn’t think the date would go anywhere, because she seemed to be more of the sarcastic and chilly type. but after asking the age old question of why is she still single, he heard something that reminded him of himself,,,,,, she went on about her exes

he felt a kindred spirit in someone who wanted to be put first, but never felt like they were. she shared similar thoughts that after her last long term breakup, she knew the only thing that would make her happy was another one. she made her intentions clear that she was only wanting to keep dating him if he was serious about wanting to see if they could work long-term, and sung returned the exact same sentiments, which spun them off into conversations that they might not usually touch until the tenth date, at Least

throughout the conversation, he came to see her chilly exterior as only a thin shell to a kind and emotional person within. he walked away from that date feeling like he’d had the most deep conversation so far, and he didn’t even wait until he got home to send her a message

she had a flexible work schedule, which was great for sung, because it meant whenever he had the time and energy, he was able to meet up with her for another date. though he often felt too overbearing in these situations, being with jihyun wasn’t like that. she reassured him that she wanted to spend a load of time with him, and that it was important to do so early on if they want to see if they can really work for the long haul

sung came to think that being with jihyun was an important connection that he needed to put the time and effort into, and though he worried about where that might go when he wasn’t able to constantly continue meeting with her, he wasn’t going to second guess his instinct

“i’m sorry we can’t go out.” sung drew his living room curtains closed, blocking out the night skyline’s lighting. “what a poorly time for us to meet, huh?” between finishing off promoting a song written easily, working on the next album, and quickly coming up on a promoted solo comeback, having a date in any kind of public setting was only a recipe for trouble, not only for him and quantum, but jihyun too.

“right,” sung said, before near skipping his way over to the kitchen table where he picked up a black sphere, then hopped his way to the sleeping bags on the floor where jihyun sat. “i know it’s a little strange to meet in my apartment this early on in the relationship, but i wanted to try to make it as comfortable as possible.” hence them being in the living room, and his bedroom door thoroughly closed. “this- it’s- um, well, let me just show you.” he crawled over to an outlet to plug in the sphere and turn it on, where light filtered through stencils around the orb, washing the ceiling and walls with stars. “i thought we could camp. or, you know, glamp. we can watch the stars, and i’ve got lots of movies we can watch, and i have popcorn and stuff for s’mores.”

after a movie -chosen by jihyun with a little prodding and insistence that he’d seen and likes all of the options, so anything would be great to him- and snack bowls taken to the sink, they laid out on the sleeping bags to watch the stars. jihyun’s head rested along sung’s arm, he followed the path, rolling his head over to look at her. “would you want to go camping for real some time? with me?”

jihyun popped a singular nose breath laugh, noticeable more by the curve her lips showed the ceiling. “will i have to protect you from bugs the whole time?”

this time was sung’s turn to laugh, a few cycles. “that’s what bug repellant is for.”

“what would you need me for, then?”

self deprecation, not his favorite form of joke, but his way of combating it was with the truth. “not need, but, want. i’d want to pick your brain for what thoughts come out when you’re in the middle of nowhere.”

jihyun turned her head towards him, then, and sung’s eyes that’d drifted away came back. she said, “you’re the only guy i’ve dated that’s really wanted to get to know me.”

then, it was sung’s turn for his lips to curl up. from that first meeting, they already knew what the other person needed, and it was the opposite of what they’d had before. sung needed to listen, because he wanted the same. it’d only been so long, but sung felt sure he knew what he wanted. “do you want to be my girlfriend?”

not unsurprising, jihyun’s face dropped into that of shock. “we’ve barely known each other a couple of weeks. we haven’t even kissed.”

“i like you. i don’t want you to be waiting around worrying about what i’m thinking. we can make it official and save us both the trouble.”

softness etched itself into her eyes, the tone of her voice, “you like me?”

“yes,” sung replied, sure, confident, with a single nod.

quieter, as if just between them two, jihyun replied, “i like you, too.”

“then, why don’t we?”

her mouth turned into a small smile once again, before her lower lip caught between her teeth. “yeah. yeah, okay. be my boyfriend.”

sung’s smile split into a grin then, which he packaged back up in order to lean over and kiss her cheek, just to open it back up once again as he turned his attention back to the stars. “great.”

↳ super gentle and super doting at the same time. he will never snap at you - he’s terrified of what would happen if he did. he knows he looks uninterested whenever you give him affection, but he truly tries to reciprocate it.

↳ light but warm!! suna doesn’t accidentally want to crush you because he will. he has an impulse to just *squeeze* but he has to stop himself.

↳ he actually says it really quickly. he knows, plus he’s been planning to since they day you first got together.

j - jealousy (how jealous do they get? what do they do when they’re jealous?)

↳ not that jealous, he just puts his guard up. he’ll grab your waist/arm and pull you into his side if anyone tries anything with you. he loves whenever you kiss him in front of someone trying to flirt with him.

k - kisses (what are their kisses like? where do they like to kiss you? where do they like to be kissed?)

↳ slowwwww and passionate. suna likes taking it slow, therefore he definitely loves trailing his kisses down from your lips to your jawline, to your neck. he loves being kissed on his neck.

↳ really good with them. he’ll talk to them, play with them, the whole shebang.

m - morning (how are mornings spent with them?)

↳ he loves waking up and making the two of you a cute little breakfast <3 the two of you eat together at the table, talking about funny things either of you have said in your sleep.

↳ he loves cooking with you. it doesn’t matter if you’re making dinner based on a recipe from osamu or just heating up some ramen. he just loves talking to you and bonding with you.

↳ he might take a month, but he honestly loves holding a conversation with you that the topic just switches and all of a sudden he’s talking about his whole life since he was a baby.

↳ very very patient. he’s forgiving also, but only if he can get a few teasing remarks in.

↳ he doesn’t exactly have the best memory, but he teases you for forgetting things </3. he remembers all of the important stuff, but something you said months ago he won’t remember unless it was some excruciating piece of information.

↳ the first time you said that you loved him. you listed all of the things you found cute about him, but little did you know that he’s been keeping notes of all of the things you’ve been doing that make his heart flutter.

s - security (how protective are they? how would they protect you? how would they like to be protected?)

↳ super protective. he will snap anyone’s fingers if they try anything with you and him. he loves when you try to physically block him from anyone’s view and defend him.

t - try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

↳ he tries </3 but that’s all that matters. he loves seeing your face light up each time he introduces a new date idea or gives you a gift that he saw you looking at on your phone.

u - ugly (what would be some bad habits of theirs?)

↳ people tend to think he’s unexpressive. once he hears what they think, he avoids them. he starts avoiding people more so they don’t assume the wrong thing about him. he’s very detached from everyone.

v - vanity (how concerned are they with their looks?)

↳ he’s not concerned, he just makes sure that he looks good for you 🥺

w - whole (would they feel incomplete without you?)

↳ he constantly wonders if he’s to blame. was he too bland? too unexpressive? did it come off as him not caring? he did care, and he still does. but he can’t when he knows you’re both supposed to be healing. it’s still fresh after all - and suna isn’t getting over you anytime soon.

x - xtra (a random headcanon for them)

↳ HE LIKES CHUUPET (fruit jelly things) HES SO CUTE GBJWBGJ- anyways. he buys tons of them and just keeps them in a cabinet at home specifically labelled for him.

y = yuck (what are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

↳ since he actually does really love hanging out with the more chaotic people (atsumu) and the calmer people (osamu, aran, kita, etc.) he doesn’t care if someone is chaotic or calm. he likes em all. BUT,,, he doesn’t really dig people who are pessimistic about everything.

z - zzz (what is a sleep habit of theirs?)

↳ he likes to take extra time brushing his teeth and washing his face to make sure he looks his best. he likes listening to music as he’s falling asleep, but wakes up to take his earbuds out because they start to hurt his ears.

I have come to an epiphany...

Ok so (2018 timeline btw) micky when into smithsgrove when he was 6, right? And we can all agree loomis sucked ass, yes? So would loomis or anyone teach micky how to read?? Like maybe he could of learned on his own, but I don’t think so. I think they wouldn’t have taught him any life skills. So imagine..

Micheal has been in the kitchen for hours now, and has made little progress. He was trying to be sweet but making a cake is far harder than on the tv. He’s been stuck on this line for what felt like years but it just won’t click!

When he was in school his teacher told him he was die lex kit or something, it was like 55 years ago he can’t remember. This is extremely frustrating to him because he’s now in his 60s and can’t bake a damn cake! You where going to be home soon and he needed to get this at least in the oven. He tried to read it again but to no avail, he even has his glasses on. The mask has been removed for a while, but nothing is helping. This is a disaster, why couldn’t they just teach him to read!

He heard you pull into the driveway and new it was over, he had to make a disision and quick. Does he put all of the crap away and pretend it didn’t happen, or own up to the fact that he can’t read worth shit and get your help. He does want there to be a cake to celebrate your promotion, but it more than a little embarrassing to admit that he is in his 60s and can’t read.

When he hears the keys jingle he decides your cake is more important than his embarrassment.

You where coming home, and for once pretty happy. Your coworkers threw you a little promotion party which was nice, but all you wanted to do was come home to Micheal. You where sure he didn’t have anything planned, so when you walked through the door and not see him in the living room you where confused. You called his name and heard a grunt from the kitchen. ‘It’s 2, he can’t be hungry now?’ You out your coat, keys, and purse in there respective places, and start to head to the kitchen. But you stop dead in your tracts once you have a full view of the kitchen.

There was Micheal, leaning over the counter to read a book. Ingredients everywhere, no mask, glasses, and even half of his jumpsuit was tied to his waist to reveal his black T-shirt. You could tell by his body language, he was very frustrated. A large grin came on your face and you make your way to the kitchen.

“Whatcha makin there micky?” You spoke. He looked up at you, completely defeated. He looked back down at the book he was hunched over and pointed to something. You slide over to him and look at what he is pointing at. Strangely enough it wasn’t the title or name of the recipe though, it was a small chuck of the instructions.

Add the butter and mix at low speed for 1 minute. With the mixer running, add the oil and continue mixing until the mixture looks sandy, about 30 seconds more.

Simple.

“Do you not understand it mike?” You question. Which kind of baffles you that he can’t get that. He’s very smart so why is this a struggle? Micheal looks away from you and you could see a light pink dust his cheeks. He was embarrassed. About what though?

“Ok I know you don’t like to talk too terribly much, but why don’t you read it aloud? Maybe that will help it click for you hun!” You said, sweetly. But this only made him more embarrassed, his cheeks a light red. “What’s the matter?” You really didn’t know? You have heard his speech several times, so what was different about this time?

“I.... i.. can’t...” he spoke quitely. He locked reaaaaaaly embarrassed now. What was so bad to get him this worked up?

“I can’t... read.....” he said finally, looking down at the floor like it was the most interesting painting he has ever seen. He doesn’t want to look up to see the disappointment on your face. He can hear you now ‘what? You can’t read! How can you! A 60 year old man! NOT read!!” But you in reality where just confused.

“Did they REALLY not teach you to read? What in the ever loving fuck is wrong with them!” He looked up from his interesting floor to look at you in disbelief. If he ever told loomis or loomis mini that he couldn’t read more than ‘the cat is in the hat’ they would of laughed. But you? Apparently not.

You looked at him once more, “do you want to learn to read?” He nodded enthusiastically. You loved when he got like this, he was so cute.

Over the next few months you taught him how to read everyday, with flash cards, online learning and more. Eventually he was able to make a cake without your help.

WIPWC #2

Here we go again! Another week, another check-in in @wipwc-wednesday​‘s game, and boi, did stuff happen.

Weekly WC: 10,000~ You guys, somehow I’ve written a whole new destiel Flower Shop AU and the WC is exactly 10k words, and it is called Take It Or Leaf It. I’m a perfectionist :D I have written a little more, but that is only due to me reviewing episodes 8 and 9 of Reichenbach Falls

WIP status: As last week, pretty good. I started writing a new installment for the Take It Or Leaf It series and it is coming along nicely. I’ve plotted certain points for Reichenbach Falls and things fall into place, hehe. I’m browsing Pinterest for more prompts for writing destiel or johnlock, so I’m open to accepting some if anyone’s interested :D I also fposted the fifth chapter of episode 7, Minor Reflection of RF, and it can be found on the first page of the work

Chapters: Written a whole one-shot, so technically 1 chapter? But I reviewed like 3. I’m looking forward to the weekend to do more. 

Favourite passage/snippet: This is from the first chapter for episode 8 of Reichenbach Falls which is called National Treasure-Trove which is scheduledd to be posted tomorrow! :3

“You’re welcome,” John smiled and planted a kiss on his curls. Sherlock squirmed, pink dots painting his cheeks adorably. “Eat up. Mrs Hudson will strangle you if you don’t.”

“Mrs Hudson has the day off,” Sherlock countered, but he picked up a butter knife to spread some of the questionable dairy product on the bread. He seemed to have noticed its strangeness, sniffing at the food and promptly putting it down. “This is ridiculous. I miss European butter. What is up with these sticks of butter on this continent? Where are solid blocks of it? Damn. Ooh, blueberry jam?”

“I like this one,” John said, silently delighted at the way Sherlock criticized American butter. True, this one was an off-brand rip-off of another brand that ripped off a brand that stole recipes from yet another, completely unrelated brand that had nothing to do with butter, but still.
