Hey all, thought I'd join in 😀

Weekly word count: 12,000 ish 😱

I've been taking part in the February Johnlock Challenge so I've written and posted 7 prompt responses since last Wednesday: one shots, drabbles, 221Bs, poems... And now my brain will not SHUT UP and so I also stated a 3 part fic called 'Octopus' - part 1 was 6,500 by itself 😂

WIP status

'Octopus' has 2 parts to go, I intend to post part 2 in a week. All the artwork is finished (yaaaay) so that's exciting! Also writing a response to the @sherlockchallenge - coming soon. Lots of other stuff on the way, including elf!lock, banshee!lock and a sequel to my most popular fic, 'To Be Human'.

Chapters

Well the Feb prompts continue so that's 7 chapters I'm supposed to write and post by this time next week - also working on 'Octopus' part 2.

WIPWC #2

Here we go again! Another week, another check-in in @wipwc-wednesday​‘s game, and boi, did stuff happen.

Weekly WC: 10,000~ You guys, somehow I’ve written a whole new destiel Flower Shop AU and the WC is exactly 10k words, and it is called Take It Or Leaf It. I’m a perfectionist :D I have written a little more, but that is only due to me reviewing episodes 8 and 9 of Reichenbach Falls

WIP status: As last week, pretty good. I started writing a new installment for the Take It Or Leaf It series and it is coming along nicely. I’ve plotted certain points for Reichenbach Falls and things fall into place, hehe. I’m browsing Pinterest for more prompts for writing destiel or johnlock, so I’m open to accepting some if anyone’s interested :D I also fposted the fifth chapter of episode 7, Minor Reflection of RF, and it can be found on the first page of the work

Chapters: Written a whole one-shot, so technically 1 chapter? But I reviewed like 3. I’m looking forward to the weekend to do more. 

Favourite passage/snippet: This is from the first chapter for episode 8 of Reichenbach Falls which is called National Treasure-Trove which is scheduledd to be posted tomorrow! :3

“You’re welcome,” John smiled and planted a kiss on his curls. Sherlock squirmed, pink dots painting his cheeks adorably. “Eat up. Mrs Hudson will strangle you if you don’t.”

“Mrs Hudson has the day off,” Sherlock countered, but he picked up a butter knife to spread some of the questionable dairy product on the bread. He seemed to have noticed its strangeness, sniffing at the food and promptly putting it down. “This is ridiculous. I miss European butter. What is up with these sticks of butter on this continent? Where are solid blocks of it? Damn. Ooh, blueberry jam?”

“I like this one,” John said, silently delighted at the way Sherlock criticized American butter. True, this one was an off-brand rip-off of another brand that ripped off a brand that stole recipes from yet another, completely unrelated brand that had nothing to do with butter, but still.

Weekly WC: 381~ I... I want to write really badly, but the words are not cooperating! Hopefully we’ll have a bit of a better week soon, but my classes are a little heavy right now. Once we get through all of that, hopefully I can go *tippity* *tappity* on my lil keyboard and make my lil words for my lil stories

WIP status: I’m actively working on 3 fics that’ll be under 10k, I’m hoping to get at least a few prompts into the Cherik Challenge before succumbing to the desire to decompose! Also writing a bit of prose I guess, the symbolism is too strong not to. “working on” they say, with 381 words down. And yeah, it counts

Chapters: 0 Yeah, no.

Favorite passage/snippet: Now this I can do.

So no, Erik Lehnsherr was not a fan of Valentine’s day. 

“Erik~” He let out a preliminary sigh, he’d barely even made it through the hallway before a familiar and seemingly constantly lingering figure appeared beside him.

“Raven.” He nodded to her, but she moved around him before he could evacuate as ideal, leaning against the wall and crossing her arms with a smug grin. The triumph in her smirk leaving him frowning, whatever her antics were, he wanted no part in them. “Raven. What did you do?”

That’s just a little somethin’ from the Valentine’s Cherik fic that I did not write, and may never write, but those 88 words are here for your enjoyment. 

NEXT WEEK I’ll try, try to get a few more words on the page, and maybe even get something posted for you all <3 aaaaaaaaand as always: *ahem*

Never Stop Writing

I was super excited to work with @nio-bee-um​ again as I love them so much and would literally die for them. So of course I had to take part from the very first week of this amazing project... Soooo here’s what I got done this week! Weekly WC: Due to a ton of assignment I only got 600 words this week, but I really like what I wrote regardless. I did some editing of my older texts, too! WIP Status: SO. I am currently writing my first ever mystrade fic based on my dream. It was a nightmare, so obviously this one’s gonna hurt like a little bitch. So I’ve been working on this adorable scene, finally getting to the point where our boys start making their moves at each other.  Here’s a little snippet: 

“You don’t really get it until it’s too late.” He frowned. “What do you mean?” “You don’t realize just how lucky you were to be with the person that you truly loved until the moment you lose them.” “But how can you possibly lose someone who is supposed to be ‘the one’?” “That’s the magic of it. You’re not guaranteed to succeed in a relationship with that person. It’s like gambling. If you succeed, you win a huge prize. If you fail, you lose so much more than you had in the start. The thrill of it all is what makes it so special.”

I didn’t write anything for my johnlock miraculous au though... Sorry for that. But. I’m gonna work much harder this week, can’t wait to come back here with some updates!

WIP/WC Wednesdays

Hey Steph! Hopefully this isn’t out of line (and if it is, sorry, ignore me, I never sent this, it’s a figment of your imagination)

I just started a tumblr event/challenge for fanfiction writers, and I thought some of the writers over here would like it. @wipwc-wednesday is a chance to do weekly writing check-ins on Wednesdays. I have an FAQ section and post on the account, but basically: every week you’ll have the chance to share things like your weekly word count, snippets of your writing, and WIP status updates

I started this because I felt bad whenever I didn’t have new content for people, even if I was writing and working on everything behind the scenes. WIPWCW just gives writers a chance to give a little sneak peek to their followers, and not get as easily discouraged by not having anything to give to their readers. A lot of individuals give their own little updates, but I wanted to expand on that and make a positive space and community for everybody that’s sharing.

There’s more information, and cool headers (that I made) on the blog, and I’d really appreciate it if you checked it out or shared this so I can help out more fic writers like myself! Thanks, ��🐝

WIPWCW #1

Alright folks, I decided to partake in @wipwc-wednesday's weekly check-ins to keep a lil' data log, so here goes! (I don’t have the headers saved on ma PC yet folks, will do w/o it this week)

Weekly WC: 7,740~ The weekend was pretty busy, around 6k words were written for y little destiel fic I Put a Spell on You ;)  and then the rest was split between a new destiel WIP which is an AU, and episode 12 chapter 2 of Reichenbach Falls, which is a superwholock project of mine~

WIP status:  Pretty good, things go according to schedule, I’ve managed to pre-write enough stuff not to stress out when it comes to RF, and the destiel fics go smoothly. However, my potterlock fic has been lacking the past two months so I guess I will pay it a bit more attention this week.

Chapters: Finished chapter 3 on I Put a Spell on You ;) and began chapter 2 of RF, which is going nicely. I have also edited and reviewed chapters from episode 9 of RF which will be coming up on Ao3 on March, so soon enough, and the plot will t h i c k e n. 

Favourite passage/snippet: The following paragraph is my favourite from an upcoming episode 10 of Reichenbach Falls (it will be posted in April), where there are time shenanigans at play for a while but John doesn’t know, and he misses Sherlock. I really enjoy writing angry John because his internal monologue tends to include the word ‘fuck’ in it when addressing inanimate objects, and I do the same thing:

As if on cue, Mrs Hudson and him turned right to the fucking obnoxious garden section. John just slouched and pushed forward, growing tired of home-depot and anything even remotely related. He stopped their cart before Mrs Hudson had a chance to get in the line of the idiotic fucked up weak-ass poor excuse of a fucking tree and John hauled it on the ground. His face was a mix of emptiness, hatred, lovesickness, and murder. He had an undeniable need to yell at plants and succulents. And water fountains. But not the otter one, that cute guy reminded him of Sherlock.

Here’s my first check-in for WIPWCW 

Weekly WC: 711 Yeah, so I’ve been crazy busy (and will be this week too *sigh*) but I did have a few blips to come and write a few words, even if I’ll be rewriting half of them!

WIP status: Well... I... Uhhhhhhh WE’RE WORKING ON IT!!! I’m trying to get a few submissions in for the Cherik Challenge 2021, so I technically have 12 different docs being edited depending on what I feel like writing I’m also working on a MorMor fic request I had from a while ago, alongside the next chapters of It’s Not A Trick, because I haven’t updated it since December!!!

Favorite line:

It sits in your stomach, you know? The dread. Anxiety, depression, mania, happiness, sorrow, grief and rage - all of it sits in you. 

There’s stress in your shoulders. (Yes, you, reader. Relax them.) You’re clenching your jaw. (We never even realize it.) What our mind feels, our body processes. Something more tangible, that echoes in your bones, or grips itself to the muscles over your ribcage. Coping. Your thoughts can’t hold it all, but your body can alleviate some of that weight. 

  We destroy ourselves, we don’t cope, we simply suffer and wait it out. This is what we all feel. Now imagine it all. Really, all of it. Any time you’re around it, take it all in. Every. Single. Emotion. That’s what one young empath is doing , tucked into the darkest corner they can find, in the quietest space. They can’t cope either.

WIPWCW #3

I AM WRITING THIS FOR THE SECOND TIME BECAUSE SCREW TUMBLR! BUT ANYWAY, hi guys! Back for another check-in in @wipwc-wednesday ’s game~

Weekly WC: 3000~

Less productive than last week in terms of writing new stuff, but worry not! I wrote some more for Reichenbach Falls, then some for a new installment for Take It Or Leaf It, a destiel Flower Shop AU, and the second part will be up soon!

WIP Status: 

RF and TIOLI are doing great! But the best part this week is that I got back to my potterlock fanfiction, Harry Potter and the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, where we can see 3 timelines: 1997 where the Golden Trio seeks help from our Baker Street boys, and then the 80s at Hogwarts (John and Sherlock and Greg) and the 90s (Draco and Harry). I have burnt out in November regarding this fic and put it on the backburner for about 3 months, so now I am reviewing what I have written because oh God, the cringe I feel at my past self. I am polishing it up, and slowly I will replace the existing chapters with the edited ones. Seriously past me, wtf, those typos. I have gone through around 65k~ words out of 85k, so I think that’s good! The next step will be to prewrite a couple chapters ahead of time before I get to my regular posting schedule so as not to stress later. Small steps. 

Chapters:

I compiled the 15 existing potterlock chapters into ones that are longer, but the chapter count reduced in half. I wasn’t happy with how short the last few updates were, so there’s that. This is another huge fic of mine, smh, yes, I am very much insane. But hey, I am happier with it now! I am currently reviewing John and Sherlock’s third year; I have about half of it done (and published as it is), so I need to write the rest and the second semester - S&J&G are sniffing out what happened to the Chamber of Secrets, heh! The plan is then to jump onto their fourth year, and this is where the drarry timeline comes in. In short, I will alternate between the 80s and 90s timelines to create parallels, and this will then come in handy in the timeline of ‘97 where they are looking for the horcruxes. Oof. So much stuff to do, but hey, I am enjoying it and that’s what matters! Gotta remember to keep my mental health in check, though. 

Favourite Characters To Write This Week:

Blake Selcout - my OC from the potterlock fic. He is a student from Ilvermorny who transferred in his final year, he is in Slytherin, AND THE SLYTHERIN TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT CHAMPION! alongside Harry ofc. I think it will offer a unique perspective on Hogwarts and its issues such as the House rivalry, and later push the plot forward when it comes to redeeming the Houses and Slytherin, but I like to think it will redeem the Hogwarts mentality as a whole in the end. 

Castiel - whether in RF or Take It Or Leaf It, Cas is a precious guy. I love him. In Reichenbach Falls, he offers us a new angel perspective, as we come to learn since episode 11 and forward. BABY IN A TRENCHCOAT

Favourite Snippet/Scene:

This comes from chapter titled ‘101 Things To Do At a Muggle Household’ from the potterlock crossover fic. Sherlock and Greg come over to John’s place for a sleepover during summer and they try out muggle things! Namely pizza here:

“This is delicious!” Greg said with his mouth full. He took a sip of Coca-Cola, grabbing a slice of the pineapple pizza. John’s breath caught in his chest, and Sherlock lifted his head as well from the tuna slice he stole from under John’s nose. 

“Greg, you can always back out from eating that disgusting thing, you know?” John said as Sherlock gulped down his piece, shuffling to the opposite side of the table to get a slice of his own. “I only want what’s good for you, mate.”

“Promises, promises,” Greg said, sighing as though he were in love with his food. Not unlikely, Giovanni’s pizza was of heavenly quality. John averted his gaze as Greg bit into the devil’s trap. The retribution in the form of spitting and cursing didn’t occur, however. 

John looked up, horrified to see that both Sherlock and Greg chewed their slices, and neither appeared to be appalled or disgusted. One small victory was Sherlock not seeming as taken by it as he had been with the tuna pizza. Greg, on the other hand, devoured the slice he had been holding and then grabbed another one. 

“So… What do you think? Sherlock?” John asked, hoping to get some understanding out of this. He watched Greg annihilate half of the pizza while Sherlock spoke. 

“It’s… Strange. Not as dreadful as you had made it sound, but not marvelous either. It’s acceptable,” he said, putting down the crust and dusting off his hands. He poured himself some more Coca-Cola. “Although I think that Gawain here thinks otherwise.”

Greg threw the crust he put down at him when he messed up his name, Sherlock ducking it  as he grabbed a slice of pepperoni pizza. 

“This stuff? It’s amazing! How can you not like it?” Greg mouthed, spitting out wet crumbs. John backed away a bit towards Sherlock. 

“I’m a man of culture, that’s how,” John said, rolling his eyes as he smiled. Greg was ridiculous, and the stunt he was pulling with the pizza was making him gag, but this was his first day spent immersed in a completely muggle household – could he blame him?

This chapter is also on ao3, but this excerpt come from the edited version. Hopefully I will get to post it instead of the unrevised version soon! That’s all folks, see you next week! <3

WIPWCW #4

So... I’ve skipped the last 2 weeks of check-ins because I simply forgot, LOL *dumbass* Here’s a new check-in for @wipwc-wednesday​!

Weekly WC: counting the last 2 week ~13k I’ve finished epiosde 12 of Reichenbach Falls, my superwholock fic. Besides that, I’ve reviewed all chapters of my potterlock fanfic, Harry Potter and the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which accounts for like, 85k words. 

WIP Status: RF is doing great, I have started episode 13, so my pre-writing schedule is coming along nicely. My potterlock fic is on the line to start pre-writing a few chapters ahead too, at least 4 but preferably more. My spn flower shop series are on hold for a bit

Chapters: I’ve written a total of 5 complete first drafts for 5 individual chapters. I have also published the whole 8th episode of Reichenbach Falls called ‘National Treasure-Trove’ where John and Irene sought out the town’s original founder and uncovered a conspiracy, and Sherlock helped Sally Donovan solve minor cases while Greg stayed in county jail after a pair of kids pranked him. Yep. Poor Greg. 

Favourite Characters To Write This Week: I have to say writing John Watson is quite interesting. Giving him the background I did, it’s easier to relate to him and put a few lessons forward eventually. Then Greg Lestrade, he is an interesting guy who has a lot of secrets of his own so >:D

Favourite Snippet/Scene: This is from episode 8, Reichenbach Falls, where John found an official file documenting the infamous coverup 

THE O’LEARY COVER-UP

‘Let it be known that Balexander O’Leary, famous in his native Reichenbach Falls for rolling down the hills stark naked and let wild racoons clothe him until he got fleas and for drinking sewage water, thinking it was a magic potion granting him powers to see Jesus Christ and fight him until his second coming on Earth, was chosen to become the first US-allowed official mayor of Reichenbach Falls. O’Leary often spoke in a series of babbles and unintelligible yells, usually screaming his trademark phrases: ‘That sign can’t stop me because I can’t read!’ and ‘Baghferumehamamahaaaaaa! The winged oats are attacking!’’

“Oh my God, he predicted a meme and spoke in keysmash?” Irene said in awe. John grunted a response, his brain focused on the rest of the text.

‘The fabled founder of Reichenbach Falls was, in fact, a fraud. His last miserable, and completely unaccounted for moments on Earth were spent suffocating in a barrel filled with pickled water as he attempted to transcend to the lost world of Atlantis. Whether he’d achieved it or not, no one cares, because Balexander O’Leary was a [CENSORED] hated by everyone who got a whiff of his cologne and personality. He will not be missed.

‘The true founder of the town appears to be a mysterious man who allegedly travelled here from the future year of 2012. Also known as Alexander Hirsch, or King Awesome-Sauce, the eccentric miracle man went crazy the first night he discovered the town’s whereabouts. He claimed that he had had a bet with a friend in the future, which consisted of burning his old, ugly red jacket that was burned under a Full Moon while Hirsch and his friends danced around the bonfire, chanting Satanic verses such as: ‘Hola-Ola-Antilopa-Mola-Dona-Pepsi-Cola!’ or ‘We’re all weevils in a captain’s biscuit!’ In other words, he had sold his soul to an unspecified deity or demon, and thus Reichenbach Falls was created.

‘Hirsch was also famous for riding into the White House and battling Thomas Jefferson and his pet alligator with an army of alloted deer, three of which were constantly addicted to petrol. Hirsch claimed his German surname granted him the magical ability of a Disney Princess, and used his powers most accordingly.

‘Unfortunately, Hirsch’s 21st century antics held no purpose in the late 1700s, and he went crazy in less than a month, drawing odd sketches of two siblings in a mystery town. He was impeached by a group of thug squirrels who took over Reichenbach Falls in an unsuccessful attempt to establish a forestocracy as a protest against deer who licked their nuts (unspecified which kind). The squirrels were gunned by woodpeckers who avenged the local mafia family of beavers, and peace was once again established, but in the meantime, Alexander Hirsch disappeared. The last time the locals had seen him was on the back of a half-paraplegic deer with abhorrent singing abilities as Hirsch yodeled a weirdly familiar theme song of his made-up world.’

Back at it again. Gotta admit - this project became a huge motivation for me. But enough talking, lemme just get straight into the summary of my week! <333

Weekly WC: I am SO excited to tell you guys that this week’s wordcount isssssss 4817 WORDS! It feels amazing to admit that not only did I make a lot of progress with my WIP, but I also loved every single minute of it. 

WP Status: So I worked only on my mystrade fic, completely ignoring the other, slightly smaller project. I am aware that there are people out there waiting for an update, but I don’t want to give you guys something forced. I’m working on whatever I feel passionate about at the moment so I can give my best at all times. 

Weekly Snippet: 

The longer they stood there in utter silence, the more he longed to just feel it already - the taller man’s lips against his own, experienced, but unsure. He couldn’t help but wonder… would he be passionate or gentle? He could imagine both and couldn’t quite tell which version he liked more. Either was good. Just either. He would take anything this man was willing to give him. He felt warmth in his chest. At first he ignored it, thinking it was probably just his heart palpitations or yet another wave of embarrassment and awkwardness, but soon enough he realised that it wasn’t that sort of warmth at all. No emotion could ever make his knees go weak just like the touch of Mycroft Holmes’ hand. ‘God, just do it already.’ He didn’t want to push it too far. Neither did he want to end up whimpering or begging. He had a little bit of dignity left that he planned on keeping up as long as possible. Still, what he wanted the most was for Mycroft to get on with it. Of course, he could have just done it himself, but the idea of letting the less ‘knowledgeable’ take it as slow as he wanted to was (and had to be) the plan. As much as he craved for the sensation, he decided he would wait however long Mycroft would like him to. But for Christ’s sake, it was going to be hard…

See you guys next week, unless I don’t get *anything* done (And I mean nothing, null, zero). Hopefully, that won’t be the case - I really need to finish this fanfiction soon, it’s killing me.

WIPWCW #5

long time no see @wipwc-wednesday​ but I’m back!

Whoooooo!

Weekly word count: ~10k So the past week and the few before that were quite eventful. I got around to writing my potterlock fic again, too! Compiling chapters was a hard work, but hey! I’m doing it! I’ve also written more for Reichenbach Falls, episode 13, and I’m making plans for my spn flower shop au Take It Or Leaf It.

Chapters: I lost count, tbh. Totally I’ve written like, 3. As I said, I’m finally getting back to my potterlock fic Harry Potter and the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. The total number of compiled chapters is 7. Each of them is over 10k words long. I prefer this longer word count, if I’m being frank. I have also outline a rough number of chapters as they go, and it’s up to 40. The longest chapter is a johnlock year 3 chapter with around 25k words. Whev! And!! I’m finally getting to the drarry years!! I’m finishing up year 4, currently I’m writing the First Task bit in chapter 7 which compiles Blake’s (OMC Slytherin champion), Harry’s, and Draco’s experience. 

WIP status: going great so far. I’m thinking of looking for a beta soon (but i don’t know how, LOL) for the potterlock fic. It’s getting huge and having a second perspective would be nice, to keep things coherent. Problem is, I don’t know where to start, HAH. So I’ll see. Harry Potter and the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is going into details and so on, because that’s what I like to read and do, but I have no idea how beta’ing works or how to even approach someone.

Oh! Also, I don’t remember if I mentioned it last time, but I bullied my younger brother into making a supercool poster for the potterlock fic! But I’m saving the grand reveal for when I start posting it again regularly :D

Favourite Characters To Write This Week:  Blake Selcout - my original character, he’s a delightful introvert, American student who changed schools in his last year of studies. And now he’s the Slytherin champion!
