For my Sherlock Johnlock and Potterlock fans. Allow to present a few headcanons for the potterlock au

The Holmes family was originally a pureblood house and part of the original pureblood houses that are filled with Slytherins and Ravenclaw minds

Sherlocks mom fell in love with a muggle in hogwarts who was a Hufflepuff (the man is literally a Hufflepuff. TELL ME I'M WRONG!!)

Sherlocks mom was a Ravenclaw.

After the parents had Sherlock and his siblings, the house members of the Holmes family were cautious of this and what it could mean for their status, but they decided to accept Sherlock's father in their own way including Sherlock and his siblings

This is also set in the marauders era

Despite being half-bloods, Mycroft was the slytherins pride and joy. Best friends with Lucius and many high tier slytherins from very wealthy families and a lot of connections.

Sherlock was a Ravenclaw sass drama king. Never had a lot of friends because of his deductions, rival with severus for obvious reasons, and he called out Dumbledore a long time ago so...THE SAVIOR OF HOGWARTS EVERYONE!!!!

Eurus Holmes is Slytherin and hangs out with Moriarty and his boyfriend Moran, and soon after, they are the ones running the death eaters and they are actually a force to be reckoned with

John Watson is a Gryffindor alongside Lestrade, and they are actually decent Gryffindors compared to the marauders themselves and hated their pranks especially on severus

Molly is a Hufflepuff (you can't tell me otherwise)

John fought in the war alongside Lestrade and the marauders, John still gets injured but he comes back and he starts a career as a doctor.

Lestrade is the head auror, and Mycroft is one of the heads of the ministry department of security and law. (It's been a minute since I've seen Harry potter. Don't judge me)

Sherlock still becomes a consulting detective for both wizard and muggle kind and meets John during one of his cases.

Sherlock did have a relationship with Irene Adler (who is an obvious Slytherin) before he met John, but they broke it off after she left him and stole from him... again.

John was married to Mary (also Slytherin), even during his partnership with Sherlock, but she died during a battle between herself and old death eater foes. Leaving him and their daughter Rosamund alone but Sherlock made sure to protect them.

Mycroft and Lestrade got together after Sherlock introduced them a few endangering life moments later where they both expressed concerns and got to know each other from there.

Thank you to @emmagrant01 for finding these photos of the time I borrowed a sewing machine from a figure skater's mom (all skaters' moms own sewing machines) in Las Vegas and whipped up upholstery for the Potterlock Lounge at Leviosa according to @foxestacado's vision, using fabric she bought in L.A.'s garment district. Fox and Emma each brought an inflatable sofa, I sewed the sofa wraps and made sofa pillowcases (temporarily borrowing hotel room pillows), we had @dixiebell's hand-stenciled wallpaper backdrop, we made a crime scene fireplace, and Fox somehow singlehandedly created entire living room fixtures out of a shipment of cardboard recycling that Qui diverted to our hotel.

I can't remember why we did this? We thought it would be a good idea? So much fun.

Fall Favorite Fic Festival, Entry 4

I'm writing this in Memphis, TN, and I can't see any red trees from my hotel window. Too far south to have gotten started, maybe. It's been very overcast. I'm here for a professional meeting, and as is always the case, they've had the AC set to "violent" in the meeting rooms and I don't know that I'll ever be warm again. You know how if you've ever gotten a sunburn, the water in the shower is warmer when it hits your feet than when it comes out of the showerhead, because it's been heated by your skin? My showers here have been the complete opposite of that.

All that to say, I'm still feeling sad, still feeling lonely, definitely facing an anniversary reaction from my sister's passing, and still quite intentionally drowning my sorrows in fic.

I had the best, most angsty fic in mind for this entry, like, call and warn @221bjen level angst, but then one day, this manip came to mind, for no particular reason:

This is a fic I re-read fairly often for sheer pleasure, but that is not to say it's fluff. The author tries in the notes to make it sound like fluff, but it's Sherlock and John as part of an aerial rescue team at the freaking Matterhorn and there is ice and danger and multiple CPR events and Greg Lestrade speaking French and secrets and tears and all kinds of relationship drama and it's JUST NOT FLUFF, OK? However, it is written in a fun documentary style (Shane based it on a documentary he came across on Netflix) with mostly dialogue and camera direction and it is a quick, satisfying read.

I've had the pleasure of betaing for this author in the past, and so I've spent more than a little time thinking about his style. He is an extremely versatile writer, and I think this fic really highlights that. If you compare this style to, say, the highly descriptive and romantic (not just in the relationship way, but also in the world-painted-in-perfect-light-way) Gimme Shelter, you wouldn't necessarily know they were written by the same person within a fairly short block of time (8 months). This fic is crisp, well timed, and quickly paced, with perfectly set points of action, snappy dialogue, and not a lot of down time. Gimme Shelter moves well too, but it's a very different feeling, silky and gentle. It's like the difference between taking a shot of great tequila vs savoring a perfect Cabernet. And if that's not enough for you, please note that SWDYCMJ has also written Priestlock, a skiing OT3, a straight-ahead ghost story, Potterlock, and a Black Mirror crossover that kept me on my toes. Plus, of course, the beautiful Brokeback Mountain fusion that still breaks my heart in all the best ways.

I mentioned in my last entry how the artistry in this fandom continues to knock me out to this day, and Shane's collective work is another prime example.

I don't feel like I'm doing this fic justice, but it's kinda hard for me to talk about without ruining the surprise of it. Even discussing the structure is tricky. Just...go read it. You'll thank me later.

I had written a post about this the other day, then ended up deleting it because I don’t think I said what I was trying to say.  So here goes take number two.

I loved Harry Potter for years.  Wrote fanfic (my PotterLock stuff is probably only two or four? years old), bought stuff, all that jazz.   My tumblr archive probably has dozens of HP related posts.  Unfortunately, my kid still feels an emotional connection to HP and even though he’s a smart boy, we’re still trying to get him to process that JKR’s words and actions have tainted things to the point that we need to move on.  Diverting his attachments can be difficult and we’re trying to find a solution, until then, HP continues to have a presence in my house.

I can’t really do anything to change that?  That stuff is out there, the internet is forever and pretending it doesn’t exist is pointless.  I thought it might be a good idea to warn people who weren’t there for my Potter obsession phase that it existed and stuff might pop up now and again because my fics and posts are out there in the wild world and I know that HP can trigger really shitty feelings and worse in people.  I don’t want my blog to hurt people like that, so I wanted to give fair warning.

So, again, to sum up - JKR is a piece of shit, I don’t support her or anything she says or does, and the HP of now is not the HP I remember from before but there is literally nothing I can do to erase my decades long involvement in the fandom from years ago.  Not admitting it exists feels like trying to hide it, which is only going to hurt someone when it pops up with a “this you?” pic once I piss of the wrong person and a friend feels betrayed.

If knowing I have a HP past is disturbing for you and you need to cut me loose, please do.  I just want to continue posting stupid memes and crummy stories and fic without worrying that my ao3 works or my old Funko collection posts are going to pop up and hurt someone.

I've probably posted this before but I'm absolutely certain that Molly's favourite subject in Hogwarts would've been Herbology and maybe Potions? Her least would've been Flight Class, because she would've been terrible at it. Losing her balance all the time, falling off—she just prefers solid ground.

Herbology and Potions could probably play into the whole healing aspect, even though she'd be looking at the dead body side of things, just to see if anything would play into a witch's or wizard's death aside from old age or the obvious curse.

It's just a fascinating subject for her—yes, strange to everyone else—and she sort of gets a thrill when it comes to sharing her intelligence with those who asks for it, like ❛Oh, this wasn't just a Crucio, the victim was clearly tied up by their wrists and around their ankles, you can see the markings from the rope that they used, and around the cheeks, assuming they were also gagged to reduce the risk of noise—❜ pointing out out with her wand or gloved hands / fingers, saying it as if it's normal.

Ah, I haven't really read more than two or three, since I've never been into the universe, BUT I did make a Hogwarts / Wizarding World AU (MFLs) list awhile ago after getting some requests for them!
