So, back around 2022-2023, I had to explain to a BUNCH of friends what exactly is/was the Undertale/UTMV fandom. It was hard to explain AUs of AUs… of multiverses… to people which weren’t there to personally experience the transition?

A lot of these stories and ideas just stems from people getting inspired off of other people, and kind of building up from there. However, if you weren’t really there for the natural progression of that… the fandom will kind of seem like… a lot (even though it kind of is ^^ the rabbit hole runs deep…).

So, I tried my hand at semi-making a “comprehensive” guide to how I see the layers of the fandom ^^” (in a silly, not-so-serious way).

The deeper you go into this fandom, the harder it sometimes gets to even leave 💀

the author of hp uses femininity so often to immediately communicate a character's virtue to the reader... you're supposed to dislike "too" feminine characters like umbridge, rita skeeter, fleur, pansy, lavender, trelawney, etc... the author's writing mocks feminine women for being vain, frivolous, or incompetent, which is quite demeaning for a "feminist." but she also bashes women who aren't feminine enough, like petunia (thin and unmotherly), marge, rita skeeter. rita gets a second round...she dresses feminine but the author describes her as physically "mannish"

bonus round for less traditionally masculine men. queer-coding villains isn't new, but note that a lot of her male antagonists are portrayed as feminine also... particularly snape, literally voldemort, draco, lucius (perhaps mostly in the movie). is this supposed to make them appear more sinister?

i've been thinking about trying to organise something like this for a few months now, but i'm finally speaking up, because this morning i had an idea...

this is a post i would really rather not make because i think the degree of petty drama its caused is in itself symptomatic of how childishly hung up we are on this one fucking character but:

admin bright has actively leveraged the notoriety of their character for grooming as recently as 2020. it is impossible to separate the art from the artist in this case, as the art has been, and might still be used as a tool for luring in victims. the continued prevalence bright both on the wiki itself and in fandom is actively providing a platform to a groomer. creating fanwork of the character is a genuine moral failing at this point.

the scp canon possesses a uniquely immense breadth and variety of ideas and stories. you can find something else to get attached to in there, or if you can't let go of scp-963, engage in a bit of creative writing yourself and create an oc to fill its slot. the world is your oyster here.

i won't ever make anything with bright in it again, and neither should you. and i'd honestly rather you get off my blog if you can't muster up that bit of spine.
