Okay, let's see. I'm going to try and pick some older ones too even though I've improved as a writer as I've gone along. Otherwise it's all going to be DMBJ fics.

Juxtaposition (DMBJ, Wang Pangzi/Wu Xie/Zhang Qiling) Wu Xie doesn't think life can get much better than this. He gets to use his architecture degree to design buildings for a living and he gets to work with the love of his life who helps make his designs a reality. He's certainly not going to let something small like an attempted mugging disrupt his world. The mysterious man who saved him, on the other hand… This fic is still the one I am most proud of, for the sheer length and the fact that it's an AU which I don't normally write. It's not even close to being my most popular DMBJ fic but it's the one I love the most

And There's That Pesky Thing Called Reality (Supernatural RPF AU, Jared Padalecki/Jensen Ackles) Jared wishes he had the life of Sam and Dean Winchester but unfortunately they are fictional characters in a series of books. Instead he's stuck working at the library with only his imagination for company. When he breaks his leg in an accident his life goes from mundane to just plain boring, until he finds himself in posession of a computer. Pretty soon he's fully immersed in the crazy world of Supernatural fandom. It's just lucky for him he has resident BNF Jensen to hold his hand through it all. Now if they could just get over the fact that Jared thinks Jensen is a girl everything would be awesome. This fic has not dated well but if you want a time capsule of what online fandom was like in 2010 then this is it. I had a lot of fun writing this one.

Unexpected (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy/Spike) Set some time after Fool For Love. Buffy finds help in a surprising place. This is the first fic I ever published, so if you read it keep that in mind. It's definitely not good but it's important to me because it set me off on my fic journey. And, you know, props to teen!Hils for diving straight in and posting a 15k fic instead of starting with something short

Staring Into Open Flame (Check Please, Alexei Mashkov/Kent Parson) Never let it be said that Kent Parson ever does what he should. Once again my rarepair loving brain took over and gave me this little fic. I really enjoyed writing Kent. He's a very complex dude and it was fun to explore that a little.

Lost and Found (Pirates of the Caribbean, Jack Sparrow/James Norrington) Drowning didn’t feel as bad as he expected it to. His lungs burned for a moment or two and then he merely felt warm and sleepy, the way he had when his mother used to rock him to sleep. The world slowly faded around him until there was only darkness Peace at last. I'm quite proud of this one because I wrote it not long after the first PotC movie came out and having Norrington washed up and depressed pre-dated how he was in Dead Man's Chest by quite a bit. Yep, Disney stole my idea (kidding)

1. my FAVORITE rarepair on non-canon-pairing is Cinder/Thorne 😭 I’m obsessive over them. absolutely feral. I love them so much it hurts. they suit each other so well and accept each other for who they are and are the original crime chaos duo 🥲

they have such a casual familiarity with one another and yet they’d give their lives for each other. do you understand? do you see what I’m seeing??

I can’t even explain it. it’s like, both of them love someone else and want someone else but they have this unspoken connection they can’t escape. there’s a tinge of forbidden love to it that is so so delicious 👉👈

I have a friend with a wip where they develop feelings for one while she’s hiding on Luna. they follow through with it but Jacin chooses Winter in the end. Cress is left feeling dirty and ashamed and realizes love is so much more complicated than she ever could have imagined. I can’t articulate to you how much this concept HAUNTS me. I nEED her to finish writing it I can’t even I’m being so real right now.

also, there’s this potential for angst/tension because Jacin KNEW ABOUT CRESS and he did NOTHING and that’s so interesting and compelling. Cress could feel betrayal when she has no right to because they don’t know each other and Jacin owes her nothing but he COuLd have done something and didn’t. I actually wrote a fic exploring this concept:

3. third place goes to SCARLET/THORNE!! because they hate each other and it’s so funny. like the idea that they get together and all their friends don’t get it but they can’t quit each other. like Scarlet HATES him but he, being woman-crazy is attracted to her instantly. he tries to get under her skin and HE DOES every time and she’s so quick to fall for it. it would be purely physical for Scarlet but since Thorne is so sentimental he falls HARD for her

I wish the TLC fandom was less judgey about shipping things that aren’t canon because then more casual enjoyers of Cinwell (and other pairings) would be more comfortable to write fanfic and make fanart and talk about it in general. and that would be so fun! and interesting! I have TWO SEPARATE tumblr besties that love Cinwell and will talk about it all day long in private messages but are genuinely anxious about being public about their love for the ship because they don’t want to be judged or low-key bullied/canceled over it.

this fandom has a strange culture where one rando person will post an unpopular or unique take/opinion that gets like 3 notes and then popular TLC blogs will passive aggressively make a post dragging that account’s opinions. it’s high key wild. like why are you so insecure about your ship/views? that you feel the need to be validated by your anon following? and it comes across as so self righteous like they know the series better or love it better or have the Correct Opinion. makes me go insane. makes me feral

I always find this take so interesting because they love to say Tim canceled, Tim said no, Tim won’t do this

But they seem to forget it’s not up to Tim.

Does he get a say? Yes. And a pretty big one. But ultimately it’s up to the network. If they don’t want buddie it won’t happen. As we saw season in 4 and 5 with Fox when the network said no.

If the network wants buddie? Tim can try and say no if he wants, maybe try and change their minds but ultimately they can just as easily let him go and replace him with someone else who will be happy to give the network what they want.

And the big thing about networks? They are money hungry. Especially on the backend of strikes when they lost money and revenue from shows etc. Giving up on buddie and losing all the viewers and money and publicity they would rake in for years when buddie goes canon, because people didn’t like a plot device character and they want to be childish and petty would be insane.

Honestly, I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Buddie is a gold mine because there isn't a relationship like them in media. I don't know why fox didn't realize that but abc clearly does because they are using Oliver and Ryan and they are aware of the numbers they bring. But I've been thinking about grey's anatomy comparisons to be specific. I keep going back to Jackson and April because japril was very well liked, but they didn't want to keep them together, so much so they got divorced and they wrote April off, and there was enough backslash that when the Jackson actor asked to leave and they brought April back so she would go with him and they eventually got confirmed as back together even tho the writers very much did not want that, just because the audience wanted them together. We're not dealing with a rarepair that only we see as possible. Buddie is part of the core of the show and we are not the only ones who want it to happen. They would be pissing off a lot more than just us. The show tried to separate them and it backfired. Buck being bi was huge. So they have ga approval, and that can make them SO MUCH MONEY. Giving up on that because a writer wants to be petty is crazy even when said writer hasn't stated in multiple occasions how important a pairing is for the show like Tim has. They know what they have. They can go down in television history. They're not gonna throw that away because people are being mean on the internet. The fandom fucking hated every single love interest for no reason with no consequences. Why would this be different? It's not their job to monitor fandom spaces. And it's not their job to punish viewership when that viewership is the clear majority of their audience. Like, PLEASE.

Also, not doing buddie after making Buck bi, continuously using Ryan in the promotion with Oliver, and having multiple people on record saying that they were studying ways to make Eddie queer too, along with the way the show established Buck as Eddie's partner in universe, would sink the show. Abc is not that stupid. They know how that looks. They just bought the show, they're not gonna shoot themselves in the foot like that.

Quentin (my main character), especially resist Dark Urge Quentin. He’s so adorable. He has the cutest smile and a little ponytail and a love where his bf truly believes in the goodness inside of him. Quentin, you will always be famous (and a canon character) to me. He’s my baby because I created him, and he’s shaped like a beautiful perfect boy.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)

KETHERIC THORMMMMM. He’s so overlooked because Gortash and Orin are attractive to people, and Ketheric does not have the same PRETTY PRIVILEGE!!!!! But he was like originally planned to be a companion. That’s how good deep down redeemable villain he is!!! He genuinely loved his daughter and wife with all of his heart, and grief consumed him. If you bring up his wife and how he can still choose good instead of evil, he will sacrifice himself instead of fighting you.

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)

Doomed deep gnome yaoi, save me. Save me, doomed deep gnome yaoi. I don’t need to censor this in case someone likes Wulbren Bongle. I have never seen a human being who enjoys this character. Someone made a song hating on him.

A man (Barcus Wroot) who considers Wulbren Bongle a close best friend goes through a shit ton of effort to make sure that he ends up safe, insisting that I need to help him. I have to be the backbone of a prison break to save him. But everyone ends up safe and sound. I’m so relieved, and talking to all of the newly freed prisoners. Everyone else is fairly kind to me, even the more sarcastic characters seeming to be grateful. So I go up to Wulbren last, and he basically tells me to fuck off. He says he’s busy. No thank you, no reward. He could not have done it without me. I gave him the weapon needed to break through the wall, and there was no chance that he would find someone else to do it for him in that evil ass prison. But he tells me to get lost.

So I go and find Barcus, who’s ecstatic that Wulbren is free. Immediately asks me where he is, and starts searching the big room. When he finds him, he sprints over and starts talking about how excited he is to see him again. Wulbren’s response? Essentially telling him to fuck off, too. Barcus still ends up thanking me and giving me a quest reward.

I’ve heard that Wulbren Bongle gets even worse in Act 3, but I have a confession to make. Other than this one, I haven’t had a run where the deep gnomes survive this far LMAOOO. So I haven’t seen Act 3 Wulbren Bongle. I will update you on how much he sucks there once I get there.

mwah <3 also this ask game has made me realise that I don't actually know what rarepairs are in my fandoms LOL but this one is for Han and Lando!

B - What's your favorite thing about this ship?

They simply annoy the ever-living fuck out of each other constantly. Like you can absolutely see them arguing with each other as foreplay, My Cousin Vinny style. They're both that 'scoundrel with a heart of gold' sort of type of character and I simpy love that in a ship.

Also they have history! Such history! And I love when you can have an 'old friend' dynamic like Magneto and Prof X. Also I really need Han to know that Lando's full name is *checks notes* Landonis Balthazar Calrissian. Who did that.

Bickering like an old married couple, constantly tricking each other, the custody arguments over the Falcon are legendary, they bring up so many past misbehaviours to one-up each other, but at the end of the day... they're stealing from each others' hotel rooms and leaving a note signed with a "be better next time <3", and I love that for them.

D- Is this ship an OTP or do you also multiship these characters with other people? If the latter, is it your favorite of the multiships? Why or why not?

I don't ship Lando with anyone else. But alas Han/Lando cannot beat Han/Leia... I simply love Leia too much.

E - Do you have any favorite headcanons for this ship?

Whenever they hook up, they steal the Falcon from each other. It's just an expected thing at this point.

Lando is a snacker and keeps getting crumbs in the bed and Han is ready to stab him every time because food! goes! in! the! kitchen!

They have matching tattoos. Yes they were drunk. No neither of them have ever looked into getting it removed. (They're tramp stamps of the Falcon.)

Lando always brings champagne to their hookups even if he doesn't have any notice. It lowkey annoys Han because where does he even get it from???

They always go to the same hotel and never have use the same name or credit card. The desk staff is all well aware of what's happening and think they're funny.

Han showed up with a beard once and Lando reflexively shot at him.

Han likes flipping poker chips in the air when he's bored. It drives Lando nuts because Han uses the metal chips that are shiny and catch Lando's eye and distract him.

Once they accidentally set a hotel room on fire by knocking over a table with candles on it. They both say the other did it on purpose.

They always go halves on dinner/date costs while snarking at each other the whole time about freeloading and handouts and sugar daddies. They've confused so many waiters.

J - What kind of dynamic(s) does this ship have or do you imagine it would have (friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, slow burn, mutual pining, A fell first B fell harder, etc.)?

Oh this is absolutely enemies to lovers LOL Plus some slow burn, I think... they're snarky and eyefucking but they don't realise it's what they're doing for... a while. Everyone else does, it's fine, and are so deeply annoyed with them. They're both the kind of people who flirt with everyone so it's a while before they realise they're serious about each other and not just angling for a one night stand like they would be with anyone else.

I love chatting with readers and try to respond to comments as they come in (occasionally I fall behind depending on my work sched, but I always respond!).

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

My Twin Peaks fic Twin Flames Divided is very similar to its canon source, so has to be angsty and a little out there! Definitely angstier than my usual fics!

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

So far I think Dear Donna, (my hellcheer slow burn told through letters) has the happiest, tooth-rotting fluff around. But all of my Chrissy fics have happy endings :)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I would say no, not really! Thankfully, everyone's been super supportive in the comments and on tumblr:)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Only once!! It's anon and was posted for Kinktober as like a little writer challenge for myself to see if I COULD do it. It was fun, but I'll leave the smut to the professionals lol.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I wrote on that's currently on hiatus, but had SO much fun with it! IT's a TP x ST crossover where Agent Cooper is brought into the midst of season 4's crazy supernatural murders. I'd love to get back into it, but I have other brainworms I want to work on now.

Don't think so!

Also, no, but I'd be so into that!

Not yet! But I'd love to be a co-conspirator with my main squeeze @1lostsoul0fishbowl someday when our schedules and inspo lines up to try it!

Hellcheer has been my big one, but I'm starting to fall in love with some ST rarepairs lately...so we'll see if it stays that way.

Hmm any unfinished WIPs of mine will be finished in their own time. I have a hard time admitting one might be unfinished, because my core perfectionism won't allow anything to be left undone!

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think my dialogue is a decent guiding factor in my writing! It's at least my favorite portion to write!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

In general, allowing more creativity to flow while I'm writing. I went to college with an emphasis on more direct, scientific writing....But now I'm trying to unlearn all the drills of no flowery language or complex sentences to write with better immersion and storytelling.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I'm not confident enough to do that, unless I'm very knowledgeable in that language. But it's rare for me to inject that into the fics I write.

That's like picking a favorite child! But back against the wall, today my favorite is there is a light that never goes out , my wip for jonathan x chrissy. It's moody, it's 80s cheesy, and it's cute :)

the d/gr fandom has some issues w/ making characters all about their worst issue…and for aya I think it would be her mental health issues. not necessarily their severity - but the amount she expresses it. canon!aya is VERY focused on hiding it (and maybe a little too good at it) but I could see fanon!aya expressing it to an obnoxious extent :/

☕️: What are the most common plots of shipping fics between you and your f/o?

hurt/comfort. I say this because that was sort of what the ship was initially based on - I was in a really bad place so I made a character to be as much of a pathetic punching bag as I felt like, but gave her someone that would not only comfort her, but that she could comfort back and grow with :)

so their typical fic plot would go:

chihiro/aya gets hurt/is emotionally distressed and or picked on and the other finds them to give them whatever care and love they need <3

they both view the world very similarly same generally tend to agree on many things - but they do react differently because they have different strengths! haruhi tends to be more analytical and book smart whereas annika is more artistic and emotional (this girl can feel your vibes from rooms away. for better or worse, she’s crazy sensitive)

as far as dynamic goes…these two are a comedic duo in their own right. either they’re sideyeing eachother during some host club antics or aya is rambling on about some obscure art movement and which types of clouds are best (ranked list). it’s the honors kid and the art kid, they’re silly and soft and love to take care of eachother <3

This is embarrassing but I actually had to look at both FFnet and AO3 because I couldn’t remember all of them. TRON: Legacy, Assassin’s Creed, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, Sherlock, Final Fantasy VII and XV and Kingsglaive, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Merlin, Skyrim, and, of course, Thunderbirds. I have a couple other fandoms that crop up in various wips, including a Tom Swift/Thunderbirds crossover that I really should finish.

2. How many works do you have on AO3 &/or FFNet?

FFnet has 45, and AO3 has 41. There’s also a couple stories lurking on tumblr, notably a final chapter for Reflection.

AO3 dominates in this area, if I can use a word like “dominates” for stories that have less than 125 kudos each haha. Oh well, the numbers don’t matter!

Lodestar, definitely. Sure, it’s for something of a rarepair, but they aren’t that rare, and I just really really like the way the story came together. On the other hand, of course my unfinished Merlin fic has gotten probably the most attention, because that’s just the way it goes, eh?

I have various crossovers lurking in mostly unfinished states, including the aforementioned Tom Swift/Thunderbirds crossover, and an Assassin’s Creed/Thundeerbirds crossover that is very good and I should also finish. There’s an Expanse/Thunderbirds fic lurking in my brain that I may or may not ever commit to paper, who knows. I’ve also very vaguely toyed with a Batman/Thunderbirds crossover, in the sense that “nebulous” is too strong a word for the kind of toying I’ve been doing.

8. What is the craziest fic you’ve written?

I don’t really write crazy or crack or humor in general, so probably the closest thing to “crazy” is On the Lam, which was the result of wanting to throw Scott and Penelope toward an Egyptian stud farm. It ended up being the host for a bad joke about that, courtesy of one @thebaconsandwichofregret, who consistently gives some of the best dialogue advice I’ve ever encountered.

Actually, the true answer is probably a chapter in Glimpses into a Supernova, maybe the one about blood? It seems bonkers when I think back on it now, but I admittedly haven’t read it in many years. Possibly I am misremembering. Glimpses has some weird ones, though.

9. What’s the fic you’ve written with the saddest ending?

It’s a tossup between The Painting and a place where the water touches the sky. The former deals with a prior off-screen death; the latter is (maybe??) an on-screen death. People seemed upset by it, at any rate. I said it was ambiguous!

10. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

“Happy” is probably a matter of perspective? Depends on the overall reading experience and the ending within that context. Either septet or Three Towels and a Tracy, they’re both pretty fluffy overall.

11. What is your smuttiest fic?

protoinstincts, which I completely forgot I wrote and then rediscovered like a year later and realized “hey, this is actually pretty good” and you know what, despite it not being overly spicy, it is pretty good.

12. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not hate, per se, but someone left a review on Less Than Nothing saying they “didn’t like” that I “wrote the story as a series of drabbles.” Cool, I didn’t write the story for you, random guest reader, and the back button exists, friend 😂 It didn’t bother me on a personal level because I wrote the fic for an audience of one (incidentally, not myself and rather the recipient of a secret santa event), but I was mad because the reviewer had no way of knowing where I was at as a writer, and I know from longtime observation how that kind of comment can crush less experienced or confident writers.

Don’t leave flames, kids, you don’t understand the power your words have. Don’t like, don’t read.

13. What is the nicest comment you’ve received?

The nicest? Goodness. Hmm. I’d have to go hunting to find the nicest, but in recent memory, @ayzrules sent me a couple passages from Spanish texts she’s been studying that reminded her of my writing, and I was honestly so touched by the fact that she even thought to make such comparisons, much less mention them to me. Taking the time to familiarize yourself with someone’s style until you can make comparisons between it and someone else’s work is so much more meaningful to me personally than a basic “Nice story!” or “Loved this!” type of comment ever could be. <3 Ayz <3

14. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of, but I’ve never gone looking on any sort of copycat site or whatever either.

15. How many fics do you have marked as incomplete?

Two. First is The Dragonborn Chronicles, which is a retelling of Skyrim from Lydia’s perspective via her journal, to complement the in-game journal. It’s a slog of a style to write, though, even for someone who loves writing first person and doesn’t really want to write a lot of dialogue, and the outline is huge, and the story will be many times more huge, and just. Some day. Some day.

Second is tell the shades apart (my world is black and white), which has always been unfinished because the outline itself is over seven thousand words and the fully written story would undoubtedly land between 100,000 and 200,000 words, and there’s no way I’m writing that. I’ve always meant to upload the outline, but I got kind of self-conscious about the way I formatted it, and ugh I just haven’t bothered. One day, one day, right?

Moral of the story is I’m intensely a short story writer, and I’ve really found myself settling into that role over the last couple years. Better a clipped, punchy short story than a bloated slog of an epic.

16. Which of the WIPS will most likely be finished first?

Literally no one knows that. I wrote 95% of the observable entropy of a closed system over five years ago, and then I proceeded to pull it out roughly once a year and write and rewrite various endings until last month, which was when I finally figured out how I wanted to end the story. septet, too, languished for about five years before I finally remembered it existed and managed to wrangle an ending. Endings are hard, man. So are those third plot points. Terrible creatures, those, bog me down every time.

17. Which WIP are you looking forward to finishing?

Uh... mm. See. If I were looking forward to finishing any of them, I’d be actively working on them. At this moment, writing fic isn’t exactly high on my list of priorities, but I am also coming off a four-day idle game bender, so I still feel like I haven’t quite reengaged with myself as a living person. Give me another few days and I might have an answer.

(I am always most looking forward to finishing this ridiculous Ignis-drives-the-Audi-R8 fic that’s been languishing in my wips for literal years. As mentioned above, third plot points. Killer, man.)

(oh and also the working-titled the art of murder. Scott and Penny attend a private art auction. Things don’t go to plan. It, too, is stuck at the third plot point. I know, I know I have a problem, shush.)

18. Is there a WIP that you’re considering abandoning?

Any wip has the potential to be revived—this year and the old wips I’ve unearthed, dusted off, finished, and posted have been proof of that. I don’t intentionally permanently abandon anything for that reason, some stories just probably will remain dusty old wips forever because I didn’t actually need or want to write the full story for one reason or another.

19. Which complete fic would you consider rewriting?

Now that’s an interesting question. Hmm! Honestly? None of them. Once I finish a story, I’m not inclined toward rereading it again any time soon, to the point of years in some cases, and I feel like I’ve moved on from the stories I wrote one, two, five, eight years ago in the actual writing sense. They’re finished stories, and on top of that are relics of their time, which doesn’t mean the stories don’t have any ongoing significance on a reading level—I just don’t have any interest in rewriting those particular stories. I’ve gotten them out of my head, to the point of not remembering at least a third of them on demand anymore, and I don’t have any desire to “retell” those exact stories. I do tend to tighten the wording and fix perceived errors/weaknesses whenever I do end up rereading an old story, and I usually silently update the AO3 version if I make any significant changes because AO3 makes it a breeze to update a posted fic. I might do FFnet too if I’m feeling up to it or have the time.

20. Which complete fic is your favourite?

Once upon a time I would’ve said Holding On, but I honestly find it kind of unbearably melodramatic now. the observable entropy of a closed system is equally melodramatic, as it was written in the same era, but at least it has the excuse of being told in second person and via a style that is a half step away from being poetry. Possibly I will reread it in a few years and find it equally obnoxious and overly dramatic, but it received some shockingly positive comments, which I wasn’t expecting at ALL, and I’ve been honestly blown away by the amount of praise it’s received. <3 to everyone who’s said anything about it!

141,000 on AO3, 160,000 on FFnet, but technically the light of my life SS wrote fifty thousand words of each. It’s too late for math.

Yusuf/Booker: MAJOR FANDOM SHIP. This ship attracts fans from rival clubs. Even AC Milan fans hate-follow Yooker on IG just to view their stories. There are wonderful, moderate Yooker fans, and then there are some SERIOUS DELULUS who comment on every IG post that Yusuf and Booker make with 4th wall breaking bad shit like “THIS REMINDS ME OF CHAPTER 14 OF [YOOKER FIC WITH 1000 KUDOS ON AO3]

Booker’s fanon characterization: major yt boi woobie, he is somehow the main character in 75% of Yooker fics, reflecting the unconscious racial biases of the fandom. He is granted all sorts of magical powers and leading roles in the most egregious AUs. Top or Bottom Booker discourse is something you never want to touch with a 10 foot pole. Top!Booker fans basically never interact with Bottom!Booker fans since the Great Fanwars of bad discourse.

Yusuf’s fanon characterization: depends on which part of fandom you look at, Yusuf is either the Gary Stu of Gary Stus, or some sort of Manic Pixie Dream Boy who fixes Broken White Boy Booker and helps him achieve his dreams. The most popular Yusuf POV fic is one in which he is a quasi-James Bond type character, and Booker is some sexy villain that seduces him on a mission. Fans with a Yusuf bias tend to be...the coolest part of fandom, and they have an incredible skillset in producing gifs/edits/media from clips of Yusuf floating on the internet (that Armani ad has been milked to death 28937428934 ways)

Yusuf/Nichi, aka “Yucky”: only Fandom Olds ship this, and even so it’s kinda a rarepair since so many left the fandom. It was a bit of a thing back in 2021, but like, there was this post about how problematic the Yucky BNFs were and everyone did a hate-pile on and since then Yucky’s kinda...an icky ship no one wants to touch.

The Yucky fans are disturbingly literate, and write incredibly prescient fics, but also kinda weirdly elitist about it. A group of Yucky fans, who apparently attend Ivy League-level colleges, made an exclusive community of fanfic writers where they write fics for each other. It’s this elitist group that attracted the hate. A lot of the good Yucky fics have either been deleted or orphaned on AO3, because their authors work in governmental-level positions now. The best Yucky fanfic is a space academia AU written by an actual PhD candidate and the quality of that fic is like...Margaret Atwood style prose.

Nicky’s fanon characterization: The Yucky writers write Nicky as a thoughtful, intelligent human being (despite...the misspelled tattoo and Eurotrash haircuts), which the Yooker shippers think is extremely OOC. These days (in the year of our lord 2027), Nicky is often the stock villain in Yooker fics. In Yooker fics, he is always some sort of weird possessive ex-boyfriend (of Booker, surprise twist), bc Booker is the woobie that needs to be saved from the evil captain by Yusuf.

Booker/Lykon: the cute happy corner of the most sensible fans. They know they’re not a big ship, but they love each other, and they write the cutest fics and they’ve offended no one.

Rachida/Booker: this pairing surged in popularity during the Women’s World Cup, for that enemies to lovers dynamic. However, as a het ship, just doesn’t reach the heights of Yooker, and is kinda seen as a crack thing.

Nile/Booker: someone wrote this fic after Nile 1 Booker 0 (it’s super porny and basically consists of Nile domming the heck out of Booker), and everyone went crazy over it like OMG THIS IS THE BEST CRACK...two months later WAT THE HECK THIS SHIP IS REAL??? 

Yooker fans pretty much have a total meltdown at the reveal that Nile/Booker is canon. Most go into delulu mode, and write compensatory fanfics in which Booker is somehow so deeply closeted he marries Nile to prove he is very het, but then he goes back to training at Inter and he can’t resist Yusuf anymore. The worst Yooker fans make Nile a total bitch, but they are just a vocal minority (like 10% of the fandom). Most Yooker fans continue because they are still being fed new content on an extremely regular basis, like when Booker posts photos of shakshuka captioned “brunch with the bestie”. Another 10-15% of the Yooker fandom start writing Nile/Booker/Yusuf threesome fics.

Andy/Booker: ...why. But they exist. They often get hate for the age gap in their ship.

Unfortunately, no one really knows that Quynh/Booker are a thing, although it is known Andy and Quynh are married (I think the...Olympic ski fandom is like...minuscule). But Andy + Quynh/doing kinky things to Booker fics exist on the internet.

On the eve of Yusuf’s wedding to Nichi, Booker gets invited to spa day with Yusuf. Of course he posts about this on his IG “spa day with the bestie”, which sparks 283291321932 Yooker angst fics. The predominant plotstrains are: (1a) Booker has been secretly in love with his best friend the whole time, and finally confessions to his friend at the spa. Yusuf calls off the wedding, and Yooker ride into the sunset. (1b) Yusuf and Booker have been on and off the whole time, and Yusuf confesses to Booker that he has doubts on his compatibility with Nichi. Booker makes a grand romantic gesture, and Yusuf calls off the wedding, and Yooker ride into the sunset. (3) Nichi is forcing Yusuf to marry him for [flimsy reason]. Booker, the hero of the day, swings in to saves Yusuf from abusive big bad Nichi. (4) Blatant pwp hammam porn fic

I’m going to preface this off with the fact that I’m a multishipper, and ship quite a variety of pairings, so this list might go all over the place. (Also, I’ve never written a fic rec before, though I have recommended fics and gushed about several often enough.) First of all, Above and Below Surface by Whitehorse102 immediately comes to mind. It’s probably my favorite AU fic that I’ve ever read for ZenYuki and possibly, my favorite I’ve ever read in general. It’s a Mer!AU; a type of AU that I’m always reading, but Whitehorse102 writes it so differently than any other Mer!AU, I’ve seen. The world building is insanely good, and the story reads a lot more like a published novel than a multichapter fanfic; there’s world building that even takes in parts of canon and plays around with them a bit. The ZenYuki is built up slowly. It’s a work in progress of the writer’s, and such a lovely read, that you absolutely would not regret reading it or rereading it. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12201172/1/Above-and-Below-Surface Apparently, the first fic I read was Of Assassins and Apples by Realm-Leaper, though since I sometimes accidentally refavorite stuff, changing the date that I favorited it or may have read stuff I didn’t favorite, I might not be accurate with this. It’s an Obi-centric oneshot collection with two oneshots, that I vaguely remember reading. (Eventually, I’ll share stuff that aren’t on Fanfiction.net, because I read all over the place.) I started rereading it, and it has almostly amazing Obi headcanons. The first oneshot is an Obi and Zen friendship piece, and honestly, maybe this is where most of my Obi headcanons came from as far as backstory. This oneshot collection of two oneshots is well worth your time! I’d wondered if the Mukaze and Obi scene was canon, had convinced myself that the talk they had was canon and took place during the Tanbarun Arc, but it was this fanfic, the second oneshot has an absolutely incredible and in character scene where Obi and Mukaze talk a few things out. (Honestly, it’s on my mind whenever I read a story where the two of them talk or interact in any way, and it a hundred percent affects the way I remember canon.) So do check it out! My favorite ANS OC right now is Setsuko/Vixen/fox, from Nostalgic Family by your1ocalpotato. I decided to read some of Potato’s work on a whim a few months back, once I realized that Potato wrote stories, and I absolutely adore Setsuko, especially within Nostalgic Family; I just love that universe, the added backstory for Obi, the found family dynamics, the way that Setsuko may be rough around the edges from the life she lived, but she cares deeply for her family, especially Obi. Just the sibling bond that Setsuko and Obi have in it is absolutely incredible, and in that particular universe, Setsuko has barely met Izana, so there’s a chance that that slow burn will eventually pick up, and Izana/Setsuko is such a lovely pair; they contrast very beautifully together, and it’s got to be my favorite Izana/OC pairing. Honestly, Potato’s stories are really good and more people need to read them. https://archiveofourown.org/works/22926751/chapters/54800950 (The Den Series is the name of the particular series I’m talking about, though there is a different story with Setsuko, where she has a different backstory, and it’s pretty much all slowburn Izana/Setsuko. Both are worth a read, though I haven’t finished the longer, slow burn fic yet.) As for An AU I Took A Chance On (And Now Love), it would be the Quarantine AU, that Muselover1901 wrote: Here With(out) You. I figured I’d read a Quarantine AU, and that one was really beautifully written. It’s one of my favorites by Muse. (I may throw in a few other stories that I recommend by Muse, because she’s a super talented ZenYuki writer.) I usually avoid writing any Quarantine AUs or Pandemic AUs unless I really feel like I need to. The same usually goes with reading them; I’ve found at least one good Quarantine AU in about four or so fandoms now. (I usually only read one per fandom, if it seems interesting.) Honestly, this is probably my favorite Quarantine AU ever. It’s longer, and the world is pretty well established. (And it’s a really lovely domestic ZenYuki oneshot.) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13668279/1/Here-With-out-You I’m going to cheat a little on the next two, because I actually reviewed them (and reviewed them around the same time). First, I want to mention a fic that Made Me Laugh Out Loud; the first one that comes to mind is A Snowy Surprise by MuseLover1901. It’s the first one that pops into my head, though I know that I’ve laughed out loud at probably plenty of other stories. I actually was unsure before I read it whether it was a romantic story or not, and had been a bit nervous about jumping in and reading it, but once I started to read it, it was love at first sight. There’s a snowball fight in it, and I’ll have to say one particular hit made me laugh out loud. The story is mostly a friendship story. (The kind of story that I always long for more of in any fandom, because I love friendship stories as much as I love romance stories, and I also love family stories just as much.) But it’s lighthearted and doesn’t contain too many manga spoilers for me, since I’m terribly behind in the manga right now. (I haven’t read all of Muse’s work yet, because some of them have more manga spoilers than I’m ready to read. I’m biding my time for the day that I can just binge read them obsessively. (I reviewed them around the same time, so it works, I think.) For A Fic That Made Me Friends With The Author, I’d have to say A Quick Library Visit; it’s a short, sweet read, and if you want quick ZenYuki fluff, it’s a go to. I read it around the same time as the above two Muse fics, and for some reason, some of Muse’s newest stories didn’t have reviews, so I figured I’d review. Shortly after, I reviewed A Quick Library Visit and A Snowy Surprise, Muse messaged me to thank me. (She’s really cool by the way.) And then, a little while later, I joined the old ZenYuki Week Server, and Muse invited me over to a ZenYuki Writing Collab Server, and we became fast friends after that. (She remembered me based off of the two reviews I’d left on her stories, which was pretty cool and definitely humbling.) (Also, heads up, I’ll post the fanfiction links to Muse’s stories, but she also posts them on AO3, so they’re there as well.) (I wish there was a reverse for this panel, because through the ZenYuki Writing Server; I met phenomenal writers and began reading their work as well!) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13668268/1/A-Quick-Library-Visit As for A Fic That Got Me Involved In The Fandom, I may be cheating by mentioning this too, since I starting writing fanfics for ANS practically right after I finished watching Season Two. The Mistress, the Plan, and the Secret by MisusedEllipses really made me long to write for Prince Raji/Shirayuki, and really kicked me off in that little rarepair haven, that Season Two won me over towards. This is an incredible fanfic, has absolutely amazing characterization throughout, and is incomplete on Fanfiction. (I’m hoping that somewhere online, it sits pretty and finished, waiting for me to rediscover it. I may be overly hopeful.) Okay, it ties in onesided!ObiYuki feelings, onesided!PrinceRajiYuki feelings, and wonderful characterization and sibling banter between Eugena and Rona! Honestly, Raji is written so well that it practically reads like canon: a very hard feat indeed for any writer to accomplish. Just, wow! I don’t know who to root for: Raji, Zen, or Obi! It diverges from canon right before the kidnapping, so Shirayuki never gets kidnapped, and eventually a rather interesting Raji and Obi friendship forms, though that’s right where the last current chapter is. It hasn’t been updated in four or five, I guess now or soon, years, but it’s well worth a read. I will recommend this to anyone if given a chance, regardless of whether the person is a multishipper or not. I love the friendship, the romance, the family, and humor that comes along with Raji’s siblings’ banter. It’s just a phenomenal canon divergent fic, and it’s what really made me realize there was a need for more Raji X Shirayuki fanfics, and it left me crazy about filling that gap. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12156186/1/The-Mistress-the-Plan-and-the-Secret I’m going to make a rather honest claim here, even though I’m not sure how often this writer will come up in what I gush about here, but this writer should: genee is one of my favorite writers in the fandom. (I’m not sure if genee is still active.) When I eventually thought of a fic with A Favorite Minor Character of mine, this particular story came up. history doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes is an absolutely amazing precanon story where it focuses entirely on Ryuu, gives him some backstory! (It’s an amazing read, and it follows his journey to becoming a Court Herbalist.) Honestly, the fandom needs a lot more Ryuu fics. (On a side note, a fic by a different writer also came to mind with this, but since that’s more romantic than this gen fic, I figured I’d stick with this one. The other one that comes to mind is the only fic where I could find Kai as a main character. It’s by a different writer, but if I can stick it into this recommendation, I will tell you more about it.) Genee writes really good fics. I know genee has a fanfiction account, but I think genee might have an AO3 as well. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12687531/1/history-doesn-t-repeat-itself-but-it-often-rhymes For Pre-Canon, I want to mention a lovely story by an incredible (mostly?) MitsuKiki writer that may not actually be active anymore. (Unless the writer uses a different site now.) (This story is actually not a MitsuKiki fanfic, though it is still one of my all time favorite stories by fiesa.) Roses, Violets by fiesa. It’s a beautiful story that focuses on Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki during the years since Kiki came there. Zen develops a crush on an OC, who doesn’t like him like that, who actually likes Mitsuhide, interestingly enough. It’s not really a romance story, as it focuses on the way time passes and uses summer and flowers to express that. The perspectives shift, so some parts may need to be reread to understand who is feeling that way, but it’s all written so beautifully. You get to see Zen develop a crush and get heartbroken, Mitsuhide trying to be really nice, knowing Zen likes the woman and sort of trying to let something happen between Zen and the OC. Though, Zen feels that that’s hopeless, since she likes Mitsuhide. It’s more a story of the friendship between Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki, and what growing up entails. It’s Zen before Shirayuki, and it makes for a rather lovely, read. (It’s a multichapter, though it’s not a super lengthy one as far as chapter count goes. It’s well worth a read though.) (fiesa and geneee I discovered around the same time, and I love what both of them write so much.) The metaphors and images are just so pretty and beautiful and with gorgeous meanings. (The writer feels a bit like a poet, and since I love poetry, that’s a definite plus in my book.) It’s really fluffy and sweet and contains pretty much all of the wonderful reasons to ship ZenYuki. It’s a delight to read and to reread. I’m cheating here too. Shh… I’ve been slowly getting into Star Trek over the years very deliberately, and I just loved this fic so much! I found it first on the ObiYuki Community, going through a lot older fics, and then fell in love with just the way that Eclectic80 wrote it! It’s an absolutely incredible Star Trek AU, and a lovely ObiYuki story. (I think I did start with reading Historical Fiction, and it surprised me by being a Star Trek AU.) (On the note of really great AUs, there’s a Star Wars AU for ObiYuki that’s incredible, that I’ll have to refind at some point, and an incredible Harry Potter AU. I actually asked a lot of questions to people who know Star Wars lore far better than I do, in order to work through how much of the Star Wars AU for ObiYuki could plausibly happen in canon. (I think it was all of it. It was a great and engaging read too!) The Harry Potter AU left me obsessed with it, and the accidental soul bonding spell, whoops. But, since I don’t remember their titles or who wrote them, I’ll have to recommend them some other day. (I think they are also far back on the community page. I haven’t finished exploring it, since I took a break a while ago.) Back to Lyrias Station, it’s an absolutely incredible read whether you know very little about Star Trek, nothing at all, or a lot. I fall somewhere in the middle, and honestly, it’s a fantastic read, whenever you want to dig in and explore. (I may have reread certain oneshots in it way too much for my own good, practically back to back. I absolutely need to read the third oneshot; it’s new, and bound to be incredible. So, I was going through one of the writers that I really like the writing of, and stumbled upon one that I immediately remembered. Importance by bountifulnuggets. I remembered it strictly as the wedding story where Zen and Shirayuki hugged Obi, who desperately needed a hug. I’ve never read anything like it before, and it’s saturated with friendship. (Nugget is a phenomenal writer, so basically anything by her is really good, so if you haven’t heard of her, go check out her writing. You won’t be disappointed.) (I got temporarily sidetracked before going through Nugget’s stories, by a story I hadn’t read by Eclectic80, a ZenYuki(!) story, that if for some reason, I extend and do more than a Bingo Board (or find another way to include), I’ll tell you the title of. So I recently hit 300 followers on here! Thank you for following me as I shout into the void about numerous things, (especially since I’ve been shouting about Emma and I’m p sure that’s not what the majority of you follow me for). I wanted to do more of a celebration thing as a thank you, but since I am only good at words and am currently in the middle of writing too many things, I decided to show my appreciation in a different way rather than opening my ask box up for prompts. I did a fic rec list around the holidays that was only for The 100, but I’ve been reading things for a couple different fandoms lately, so I thought I’d do a mixed list. Still mainly The 100, but I’ve also included a few from The Magicians, because everyone over in that fandom is crazy talented as well and I want to shout about it. So here are a few things I’ve read since my last rec list that I really enjoyed! And though I’m not taking prompts right now, you can always come in my ask box and shout about things with me! The 100

All These Things That We Were by @talistheintrovert Bellamy/Clarke, Rated T (One-Shot) When Talis said the Anomaly is a romantic, I felt that. I am very much into stories about the Anomaly, because I feel like everyone has really fun, different takes on it, and this one is no different. I haven’t read much in the way of time travel for any fandom, and this one was so beautifully done, and will definitely be one I revisit once the actual canon Anomaly inevitably disappoints me.

Almost Paradise (We’re Knocking on Heaven’s Door) by @nakey-cats-take-bathsss Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M (Multi-Chapter, Ongoing with only one chapter left!) So I almost wrote a Bachelor in Paradise fic, but the planning got to be way too involved and convoluted and there were other fic ideas that I was more excited about. But thankfully this fic exists! And it is so much fun! There are lots of great Bachelor Easter eggs, so if you’ve been paying attention to the franchise recently, it’ll be an especially great treat. It’s also just an all-around great story, even if you know nothing about The Bachelor. All you need to know is that it’s hot people on the beach, so it’s a perfect AU for the peeps on The 100.

Why Do You Love Me by @shaeheda Bellamy/Clarke, Rated M (Multi-Chapter, Ongoing) Shae is really great at gassing other people up, so I feel I must do the same for her. I’m really loving this story so far! It’s vulnerable and funny, and I’m loving all the characters’ dynamics. Sometimes I go listen to The Promise and just picture Bellamy dancing to it, it’s very cute 10/10 would recommend. I’m so excited to see where the story goes, and am so looking forward to watching the emotional slow burn play out.

Revive by @mobi-on-a-mission Murphy/Emori, Rated E (Multi-Chapter, Complete) I have been pretty into pregnancy fics lately, so finding a pregnancy fic that’s also Memori was just icing on top of the cake! I also feel like I haven’t seen a lot from Emori’s POV, so it was lovely to switch back and forth between her and Murphy, because if you know me at all, you know how much I adore Emori. Bonus points for the perfect portrayal of secret sap John Murphy, which is a thing I live for!

Don’t be surprised if I love you (for all that you are) by @raven-reyes-of-sunshine Murphy/Emori, Rated G (One-Shot) I don’t read much soulmate stuff (says the girl who’s working on a soulmate fic). Also I fully rec’d another soulmate fic by this author on my last list. But it’s because these soulmate fics are super good! I love how one character (in this case Emori) is not into the idea of soulmates at all, so works actively to make sure that she doesn’t find hers so that she feels as if she has complete control over her destiny. And I love how we get to see Murphy and Emori’s friendship grow until they realize they are in love! It is so soft, guys ugh!

something more than momentary by @probably-voldemort Murphy/Harper, Rated T (One-Shot) Here’s a rarepair for ya! This was written for the Chopped Madness event (in the Harper round I believe?), and it’s a Princess Protection Program AU that I am very much into. It’s action packed and sweet (also angsty, because it was the angst round), and Harper as a princess is very much a thing I never knew I needed, but I’m glad I’ve got it now.

The Magicians

Firsts, Seconds, Thirds, Etc. by balmandbitterness Quentin/Eliot, Rated M (One-Shot) I wish we could always live in the Mosaic Timeline. This is just a very soft fic of Quentin and Eliot overthinking things as they work on the Mosaic. Because for as much as Eliot says not to overthink things, he’s definitely overthinking things. If you’re into pining and unresolved sexual tension that finally gets resolved, then this fic is definitely for you!

Falling Slowly by sapphic_ambitions Quentin/Eliot, Rated M (Multi-Chapter, Complete) As someone with a degree in theater I am very much obsessed with this fic! Talk about an AU I didn’t know I needed! I didn’t realize how much of being a theater kid in college is so incredibly universal, so I love this fic a lot, even though I am still working my way through it. Everyone has a role in the department that fits so well! Quentin as a props artisan/stage manager in training! Eliot as an actor! Margo as stage manager supreme! Julia as a costume goddess! Todd as the guy who’s not good at much of anything but is just so happy to be there! The characterization of everyone is just spot on, and I feel like you could enjoy this fic even if you don’t know the show well or haven’t seen it all the way through! 

tell me where you go by @aniallating Quentin/Eliot, Rated T (One-Shot) This is exactly the fix-it I need after the finale let me down so greatly! I had a few issues with this last season of The Magicians and the finale in particular, but the way it ended for Eliot was not at all what I envisioned for him. And this does a great job of making that better! It has me all in my feels!

Have you ever wondered what would happen if your favorite GoT/ASOIAF characters met on a dating app?

Are they there by choice or did some well intentioned but very misguided friend set up the profile for them in hopes for a much needed love match?

Maybe your fav has never been able to find The One because every single date is The One? And they are sincerely working on that, honest, but can you fault them for falling head over heels with just about anyone when they just have so much love to give?

Or maybe they are the traditional type, and trust no one more than a professional match maker to set them up with the potential love of their life for a couple of grand? Who cares if the match maker has obviously fake red hair, speaks with an unplaceable accent and finds your love by starring deep in her flames... erm.. fireplace? She’s a P 👏 R 👏 O 👏 F 👏 E 👏 S 👏 S 👏 I 👏 O 👏 N 👏 A 👏 L  👏

If you’ve found yourself pondering these things, we have great news for you! Us mods have also wondered about these things, frequently and explicitly in our group chat in fact. We’ve wondered so much, that we decided it was time to put out a call on tumblr dot com and see if anyone else has wondered these things and would like to contribute to our newest BBP production. 

So here’s the thing, this time around we’re changing things up a bit. Typically us mods give a prompt (ex: Game of Thrones but circus... Game of Thrones but in a hospital.. you get it?) and have pre-selected a variety of fandom mainstays, rarepairs and crackships to play in the chosen sandbox, but we’re all about spicing things up a bit right now. We’ve given the prompt, but we think ya’ll can chose what ships you’d like to write this time. Go a little crazy here kids, give us your best (worst?) pairings! 

Now, we’re not saying ANYTHING goes, the mods have three no-go’s that we’d Very Much Like To Be Excluded From Our Narrative; if she’s currently the QITN after that series finale, please refrain from pairing her with the likes of Baelish, Tywin or Ramsay. If that’s your thing, it’s cool, but it’s really not ours and it’s our one major request of potential contributors. 

This also means the chapters DO NOT have to be interconnected. If someone has posted a chapter of Jaime matching with Brienne on Tinder, but you want to write Jaime falling in love with a bizarre red headed fireman named Tormund solely through their exchanges on threads in the Westeros’ Got Talent subreddit, go for it. Cuz who really cares about continuity or canon when it comes to Game of Thrones? We’ve all (probably) seen season eight here...

When your primary ship in a big fandom are crackpairs or rarepairs 😞

And for PJO that has to be Will/Travis and I wrote a fanfic on how I think their dynamic will work! rather than study for microbiology like a good student 

 [Travis]

Travis Stoll. Son of Hermes. Head Counselor. A prankster. Can pickpocket and steal like no other, a prodigy in that sense. 

A decent swordsman. 

A slightly above average bowsman. 

And absolutely incapable of being remotely serious. 

Even when the situation direly calls for it. Even on the verge of death, is too lax. Even seconds away from passing out, got to get one last joke in. Even when I’m about to nag his ears off for being too careless, will nod attentively with a stupid, stupid grin and do the stupid, stupid thing again. 

Ask me what I find attractive about Travis, and I’ll definitely say its not his unhealthy love for pranks. His desire for some ‘fun in his very boring life as a yearrounder’ sometimes (most times) bringing only pain and misery and even acrimony. And even though he apologizes, the very next day he’s doing it again. 

Travis doesn’t learn. Not from lectures. Not from mistakes. Not from him or Chiron. Only Connor can change his behaviors (and Connor doesn’t. Connor only just encourages and pushes Travis to go further by bringing Travis’s ideas to fruition.)

Travis is tactless. He jokes around when no one should be and he says stuff that never needs to be said. ‘No, Travis, you shouldn’t be joking about how Clarisse is a chicken for not wanting to enter the labyrinth again. And you shouldn’t be joking about your dead half-brother actually being Olympus’s savior when he was the one to start it all. And you really shouldn’t be joking about breaking into the camp store in such precise detail when Chiron is right there.’ But he still does it. 

Travis is careless too. How does someone set landmines on the wrong hill? Seriously? When there are only so many hills at camp? And that time during the 2nd titan war when he wanted to raid a candy store, who the heck thinks of such things in the middle of a freaking war?! I wonder sometimes how he made it this far in life with his attitude. Maybe it’s his brother. Connor’s (only slightly) more level headed than Travis. 

But even though Travis can be too casual at times, and too careless, and his morals sometimes delve too much into the grey, he’s a kind friend and a kind brother.

He likes to have fun. To live life to the fullest. To laugh and smile as much as he possibly can. To never waste a second regretting the past. Even when some of his pranks backfire on him or when he gets caught and cursed, he doesn’t dwell on it for too long. I met people who said they don’t look in the past, but Travis is the only one I know who commits to it. Snide comments. Unkind gestures. The Sneering and taunting he’ll get from other campers simply for being Luke’s half-brother back during the Second Titan War. He really doesn’t linger on any of that even though it gets my blood boiling. 

He doesn’t hold a grudge towards any of them and that’s admirable. If it was me, I would have made them beg for my forgiveness, maybe made them do some of my side chores. It grates on my nerves whenever I recall those years. The fact that he refused Luke even though he’s his brother, even though almost all of his siblings followed Luke, even though he knows first hand how neglectful the gods are, Travis still refused. That counts for something. 

Travis is also stupidly powerful. I don’t know anyone who can get into so much trouble yet still find a way out. 90% of the time, he gets away with his pranks because nobody can prove he and Connor set it up. That takes skills. He once moved live mines from Ares cabin to the other side of camp. Not anyone can just move landmines but he somehow did. 

He has a soft side too. It’s not really hidden, but it’s not really apparent either. I can see it whenever he welcomes a new camper to his cabin. Or whenever he says goodbye to a newly claimed camper. Although I find it debatable when Travis teaches his cabinmates how to beat anyone at poker, he truly offers them a home in his cabin. 

And whenever he tried to teach me how to pickpocket or how to lie with a straight face or even shoot an arrow, he’s so patient. Even though I am so bad at it, he doesn’t laugh or make fun of me. He doesn’t give up on me even though I never make progress. 

I try. 

I really, truly do try to aim, but after years of faulted attempts, most people give up on me. Even Chiron did eventually. But Travis would still follow me to the archery range. Travis would still be in the same room as me as everyone else hurries to leave. Travis would still stay as my arrows go everywhere but the bullseye. Travis would still give me advice. Travis would still follow me again the next day even if I utterly failed today. 

“It’s okay,” he would say calmly as an arrow thunk a centimeter to the right of his knee cap, “You don’t have to be perfect at everything you do.”

I’ll admit, Travis worries me some time with how carefree he can be and he may be morally gray at times, but when it comes down to it, he just wants people to know life is fun. 

And I guess that’s what I like about him.

 [Will]

Will Solace.

What can I say about the Will Solace? He’s a son of Apollo. He’s blond. He has blue eyes. And he can be a total prick, but I guess that’s what draws me to him. 

Will is talented at so many things, but he also sucks at many things. 

Do you all know Will is very bad at thievery? Pickpocketing, lockpicking, even just lying or fibbing, he’s bad at it all. He can’t keep a straight face and will starts talking faster and faster and faster. It’s adorable. He’s so honest and righteous, I don’t know why he ever liked someone as dishonest and shifty as me. 

Back during the battle in Manhattan when I volunteered to get some medical supplies, Will actually told me to leave money. Who the heck thinks about businesses when we’re right smack in the middle of the battle of the century? Will Solace, that’s who. Only Will Solace.

Oh, and Will is bad at being… what’s the word? Compassionate? Kind? Merciful? Sympathetic! He’s not very sympathetic when it is absolutely needed. He’s blunter than unsharpen pencils. Normally, he’s a chill person but if someone is being bullheaded, out comes his fangs. He says what he thinks even though he doesn’t know the full picture. When he told Nico di Angelo that the camp’s dislike of him was all in his head, I wanted to wince. I know Will means well but he didn’t had Nico living in his cabin for a couple of months. 

People were scared of him. People did avoid him. Maybe nobody outright confronted him, but they all certainly gave him a lot of space. When it was game night, only Connor or I would partner up with him. It wasn’t all in his head. 

Will is that way with everybody. 

Luckily for me, I have skin made of titanium. Years of pranking and getting caught and suffering the worst humiliation I ever can has made me immune to all criticizations. 

“Travis, you’re never going to make friends if you piss everybody off with your pranks. Travis you can’t keep using comedy as your coping mechanism for everything. Travis, stop bottling everything up and talk to someone.” 

I admit Will can be pushy and forward, but his heart is in the right place. He just has an indelicate way of showing it. 

Will is also awful at archery. He’s remarkably bad actually. It’s one of the few things he’s insecure about. He can be surprisingly fragile when it comes to that. Hours of training and nothing comes out of it. I feel like when Apollo was deciding what to gift Will in, rather than distribute it evenly across healing, archery, music and prophetic abilities, Apollo just shove all he can into healing. 

Maybe that’s why Will is so great in his medic role. He is the best healer of this millennia. I don’t know how his whole healing power works but it’s crazy taxing on him. And the more monster related the wound is, the more power it takes to heal it. He almost passed out trying to heal Annabeth back in Manhattan. You would think Will the health fanatic, the perpetual worrywart, the ‘If you shadow travel one more time, I’m going to seriously handcuff my arm to yours’ Will Solace would limit himself. But no. The guy goes and goes till he gets the job done. Either the person is healed or he passes out. 

I wish he wouldn’t do that. 

I wish he knows it’s okay to not be 100% perfect. 

Will tries more than anyone I know. I would have given up archery after a month of training and no improvement. Just write it off as a lack of talent, you know? But not Will. He goes and goes till his fingers are blistered and his arms ache. 

Will is incredible sort of in that way. He’s incredibly hardworking. He’s incredibly ethical. And he’s incredibly nice. 

Will genuinely cares for everyone. Even for someone like Octavian who was seconds away from destroying our home. I’m kind of ashamed to admit this but I would have let Octavian go. I might have even lighted the cannon myself if given the chance. Because if it was Octavian's life over my brother’s, over my siblings, over my friends, over Will’s, I wouldn’t hesitate. 

Will is genuinely nice, remarkably nice, even to someone like me, to someone like Octavian, to the point I worry if he’ll be taken advantage of. 

But his unconditional kindness is what I like about him.

ultimate otp: i was going to say lmao everyone/everyone because as far as legit OTPs go, i don’t have them?? i am so open to various ship combinations and there are so few that i genuinely don’t care for. but then it occurred to me that there is a ship i only want to see with each other and that’s shara bey/kes dameron. i just love them together so much that i cannot bear to have them separated, i like poly when it’s the two of them bringing someone else into their loving relationship but as soon as it’s all shara/someone or kes/someone my brain goes DNW DNW DNW DNW!!!!! i suppose the exception might be after shara’s canon death, if kes were to find love with someone, i think shara would like that, but even then i’m mostly uninterested. so maybe i do have an otp! but really everyone/everyone, lol

a ship you’ll always love: luke/leia (and luke/leia/han), i grew up with like this guilt that i still liked them best even though i knew they were siblings and then finally as an adult i was all FUCK IT I DON’T CARE THAT THEY’RE TWINS CLEARLY THEY DON’T CARE EITHER, i’ll love them forever and i’m so much happier now that i don’t give a fuck about the incest, it’s canon anyway

current obsession: idk that there’s any one in particular i’m obsessed with at the moment but recent canon installments have given me/rekindled my interest in some things. infinity war gave me like a billion new ships like tony/strange, deadpool 2 made me ship cable/deadpool like woah (i especially love the idea of vanessa and cable sharing wade, lol), solo rekindled my latent han/lando feels...

a ship you never thought you’d like: mmmm, maybe poe/kylo(ben)? when tfa came out the idea of it kind of appalled me because of the torture scene and i wasn’t terribly interested in kylo in general (OH HOW NAIVE I WAS BACK THEN), but obviously now i ship it like crazy, it was a slow side i never recovered from, lol 

a ship you liked, but don’t like anymore: well there’s always merlin/arthur from bbc merlin, mostly because i gradually came to hate merlin himself and most of the show, lol, what a disappointment

a ship you think should be canon: eh i don’t get into this fight, i don’t care what’s canon and what’s not tbh, sometimes i stopped shipping ships when they became canon because of how they were done, sometimes it ruined the characters imo (not always true, i continue to adore jake/amy on brooklyn 99 for example). i really hate the fandom “canon is justification” attitude a lot of fans have so i stay out of it, plus the ship wars are nasty when canon becomes validation somehow for the more aggressive fans or canon sexuality of characters makes fans attack other fans

a canon ship you hate:  ted/robin on himym lmao, never forgive

a ship you’ve been shipping for years: luke skywalker/myself i’m still out here shipping lucy/caspian guys, ever since i was wee
