How often does he go back to that moment #How often has he imagined himself saying or doing something different? i think it's iconic how both juan and cesare have episodes centered on them that are named after machiavelli's books!! with juan's episode titled "the art of war" and cesare's episode titled "the prince" (the show's finale that also had juan haunting its narrative)

one of the most irritating aspects of neji’s death was that it was boring.

the emotional impact came from the fact that he died, and nothing else. not the characters’ reactions (which were lukewarm at best), not the emotions building up to it (it kinda came out of nowhere), not the aftermath or the depiction of grief (which were generic side notes). it’s like if you AI generated a death scene.

idk how to articulate this but ugh. it’s just such wasted potential

obviously id prefer if he didn’t die. but killing off a character is fine as long as its good and impactful storytelling. even independent of how ass of a conclusion to his arc it was, Neji’s death was just not that.

Doing another veep rewatch with my sister. People (who don’t seem to know me that well) don’t understand why I have this thing with a(n outdated) show that is literally about extracting the most mean-spirited versions of people and putting them in situations, but I basically think about it nonstop because of how they massacred the perfect equilibrium of Dan x Amy.

Seasons 1-4, perfect. Season 5, my heart in my stomach. Season 6, grinning and bearing. Season 7, I’m screaming at the television like HE WOULDN’T DO THAT. IT’S NOT IN CHARACTER. If you’re going to tank a ship I need it to be written in a way that makes sense to me (as in, I would have accepted the bad ending wholeheartedly if it made sense within the premises of the characters that were presented to us and felt earned)(you can’t give me excellent codependent functional dysfunction and then do. That)

#this plus zutara—my hall of fame of doomed ships #specifically I think it’s because I watched while airing and genuinely believed #whereas all my other ships are either canon or obviously just a work of my imagination #zutara effed me up so bad actually I’ve never even read fic for it #the veep ao3 people Get Me so at least I have that #the difference between this and zutara is that they pulled the rug at the very last minute in atla #whereas here I saw the descent coming a mile away and had to slowly watch it collapse like a dying star #watching every episode knowing each inflection point where a different decision could have been made #and it wasn’t #if I were a different girl I’d enjoy a slowburn tragedy but it wasn’t even that #it was cartoonish by the end and unearned #hm #veep

#Istg in atla episode 1 seeing Zuko face up against Sokka was wild #CHILDREN PLAYING DRESS UP #CHILDREN PLAYING AT WAR #It was definitely a good idea to actually SHOW the destruction of the Air Temple cause holy shit #Just seeing the show played out in live action by age appropriate actors was always gonna make the tragedy hit harder #And I like that they decided to lean into it #I've only seen the first episode so far #But I kinda feel that if the animated series was able to somehow get away with being a kid's show #The live action adaption enjoys no such privilege #And it should be fascinating to see #Atla #avatar: the last airbender #avatar the last airbender #Pjo #percy jackson

watched berserk (97) on a whim after reading someone's tags on a writing advice post on how to justify Big Fucking Swords in stories. have started reading the manga. there's a lot of triggering visuals to me so i imagine this is what it's like to be lactose intolerant and decide to eat so so so much ice cream

#IM SURE ILL BE FINE... maybe it'll even be good exposure therapy to me #i mean the level of gore is not worse than unsounded #but the art style - while technically rly impressive and good - DOES hit that uncanny valley horror style #and the anime had too low of a budget to animate much more than blood spray ahaha #the anime works SO WELL as a self contained tragedy damn #sure yes the ending was very abrupt and that episode fucked me up a little but that doesn't make it bad hahaha #only thing i knew about berserk beforehand is that there's a guy named guts who has a sword and is super enemies with the most beautiful ma #who's also super mega evil even if he has very pretty hair #thankfully there was another blonde twink for me to imprint on AND he throws knives so this is great #but truly. what if all you knew were to be a sword #what if the only way you knew how to love someone was as a sword #what if your sword decided to be a person after all. to be your equal. to be loved better #WHAT DO YOU MEAN BAD THINGS HAPPEN IN THE BAD THINGS HAPPENING ANIME.#what if your sunken cost is actually a literal mountain of corpses.#haiz reads berserk
