Reading TSaTS was AMAZING for me. I fell in love with the writing style, and the plot was just.. *mwah* zeff's kiss. For anyone who hasnt read The Sun and The Sea by @stygianheart on AO3.. GO READ IT!!!!

Although if I'm honest the 1 part that I really like the most was chapter 5 where we got to learn more about Ryan. (as you can see, i am unwell about him) AndHelmeppo as a dynamic. RYMEPPO YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Chapter 11 and 12 was DEVASTATING!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant remember how many times i cried but it was a lot.........

Anyway! *claps hands together melodramatically*

The internal conflict Kel (stygian!) portrays in Koby is so painfully accurate, and I find each character to be so well written- but even deeper and more alluring!

Koby is.. HOPELESS. But that's fine, we love him. Either way, I was on the edge of my seat at the end of each chapter. Emotions are expertly woven between words, and the pure force of it had me at the first chapter. Unlike some KobyLu fic's, Kel didn't portray Koby as a damsel in distress, an UWU boy (im sorry) or a big StRoNg Chad- they found his actual character, a kindhearted, selfless boy who feels pain and anger and who sheds tears for those who'd been wronged.

I cant even describe how much i love TSaTS.... sjsjsjsjsjsjs

RYAN BRYAN. MY #1 BOY.

I cant stress how MUCH I love him. He has a character that is so compelling and utterly stunning. He's a broken man, and noone can deny that. But he found beauty amidst pain- something im a sucker for.... Ryan feels like a canon character, ISTG!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HIM!!

Anyway, TSaTS is better than most NOVELS ive read. Its a work of art thats totally underrated. Like, its better than some arcs in One Piece by a landslide.

🎶let's talk about love- this fucking song.

ik its one of kendrick's top tracks but its still wildly underrated. like this song is actual magic istg-

it starts and immediately youre hit with the beat which is just intoxicating. like yes, i do feel it haunting me, thanks for asking. the harmonies and echoes are so dramatic and im living for it. and when the strings come in im absolutely done for. I always love orchestral elements but in this song they achieve spiritual possession. the dynamic push and pull of the strings builds this ocean of euphoria and pretty soon im confident ive ascended, and am walking on water.

and if you listen closely enough, at a loud volume you can hear this rhythmic racket in the background thats sounds almost like books falling down a chimney and its such a small addition but I think its really endearing.

and then you get to the lyrical part which is, for lack of a better phrase, too real. and so cleverly taunting while maintaining sophistication. ultimately this song is about making it on your own, and resisting the urge to play dirty in such a corrupt industry which is a really thoughtful message to put in a soundtrack for a movie marketed towards teens/children.

What I'm Watching 2023: March

This year is already moving way too fast, istg. Between watching the radar for tornadoes and getting reasonably stoned on cold meds, this is coming in late, but oh well.

The Last Of Us

ALL HAIL PIANO FROG! I'm not a gamer, so I have no prior attachment to the source material. I only started watching after seeing my dash blow up with gif sets and the like. That being said, I have no regrets. The performances and the production values are great, and I cried on several occasions. Bonus points for using Pearl Jam in the soundtrack. The pacing is a little uneven sometimes, but it's not such a big deal it detracted from what I enjoyed. My only other gripe is that the season was so. Effing. Short.

Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil

A friend recommended this to me years ago, then I recommended it to a different friend, and we had a blast watching it. If you're not in the know, this one is a horror comedy dealing with stereotypes and the assumptions people make about each other, and a LOT of miscommunication and misunderstanding. Think of it like Three's Company, but a slasher. In hindsight, it's hard to think this came from the mid 2000's, when the genre was full to capacity with the stereotypes this film calls out. And maybe I'm overthinking a movie where half the cast gets killed off in increasingly idiotic accidents, but at the end of the day, I had a good time watching. And that's good enough for me.

New Nightmare

First of all, isn't she pretty? 😍 Second of all, I'm saving the majority of my thoughts for later, but out of the franchise as a whole, this one is somewhere in the top three.

This Is Where I Leave You

I would never have chosen to watch this of my own accord, as it's outside of my usual preferences, but I kinda liked it anyway. Funny, sad, and sweet, and it didn't end the way you probably would expect. Bonus points for using Pearl Jam in the soundtrack.

The Phantom of the Opera (1989)

TWO distinct fandoms are sleeping on this one, and it's a damn shame. Phantom fans, this is the only adaptation to actually include the violin in the cemetery! (It's a sore point for a lot of us...) Slasher lovers, it's Robert frickin Englund! Literally everyone else, if you don't like POTO or horror, it's still on point with the music and the cinematography, and is generally underrated, IMO.

Greenland

We are finally, FINALLY, a Gerard Butler household. 🤣 I favor his dramas over the action flicks he's been doing the last few years, and this is more drama than action, so...yay? I'm not a huge fan of disaster movies in general, but I honestly think this would have worked better as a miniseries. It felt rushed and underwhelming at the same time, and yet the potential is there. On the other hand, Gerry finally, FINALLY, gets to use his own accent.

I've seen this one several times over in bits and pieces over the course of three decades, but only straight through and from beginning to end once. Well, twice now. I grew up on the animated series, tho, so while I've cooled off on Tim Burton, I'll always have a soft spot for Beetlejuice.

Shadow and Bone

I haven't seen any book fans throwing too much of a fit about season two, but I'm sure they're out there. Granted, I blew through all of it in one day and a lot of it is a blur, but I appreciate the deviations. They pulled my attention back whenever I zoned out, and I'm more excited for season three (if we get one, because Netflix) to see how the rest of the story pans out.

Glass Onion

You know why I hate most mysteries and detective dramas? They all take themselves soooooooooo seriously. There is always a ton of extra baggage to unpack from one case to the next, and I'm getting to really dislike series that require you to sit through EVERYTHING to know what's going on. I love this one because it doesn't do that. It's fun, dammit! Everyone has already picked this one apart and yelled over the good bits, and all I have to add to the noise is that watching this movie felt like being a kid reading the Sherlock Holmes stories for the first time, or watching Miss Marple episodes on PBS with my grandparents. It's going on my list of comfort movies, and it's going to stay there.

Leverage

Speaking of comfort, I'm a season into my umpteen hundredth rewatch of my number one comfort show. And planning on catching up with the reboot once I'm done! What's not to love about a bunch of modern day Robin Hoods taking down corrupt officials and billionaires? Bonus points for featuring Mark Sheppard for best recurring character (again).

It Chapter Two

Strangely enough, this is a rewatch, which would have been unheard of not too long ago, as far as anything Pennywise related goes. Even stranger, it put me in the mood to revisit Doctor Sleep. Strangest yet, I already want to do a double feature. 😂

Kung Fu Panda

Don't act like you don't love this movie. It's fucking brilliant.

hi folks!!! summer holiday has begun for me (if we don't think about the fact that i have to study for exams i have in autumn, we conveniently ignore that!) but it is also time for doctor who series 7 (plus 2013 specials) thoughts by me. once again remember that my opinions are NOT stable and there's a lot based on Vibes haha, let's go!!

1. The Day of the Doctor (Sx1) - alright!!! this is so so fun, SO fun. 11, 10 and War are hilarious together i LOVE it, obviously i missed 10 so i love having him back, peter capaldi eyebrow reveal was INSANE i go !!!!!!!!! whenever i watch it, tom baker cameo... story itself is okay, but even if it's not completely perfect, it doesn't really matter because this episode is funny as hell and i need more 10 content in my life, such a fantastic celebration of (then) 50 years of doctor who, i think

2. The Angels Take Manhattan (7x5) - SO GOOD, timey wimey, which i always love, amy and rory's death is absolutely heartbreaking, and like let's also just take time to acknowledge rory williams because he died in this episode and he's, like, actually SO real and one of my favourite companions and he's brilliant. okay thank you. now then, let's continue, okay so the angels are brilliant in this episode and i love karen gillan and arthur darvill and matt smith and i loved having river back ofc, i always do, how they followed the book and!!! just such a great episode, i have no complaints

3. The Name of the Doctor (7x13) - really really like this finale, i love jenny, vastra and strax, even river appears, i honestly do like the reveal with clara and the cameos of different doctors, and the ending with war doctor reveal is so iconic i LOVE it

4. The Power of Three (7x4) - honestly i think this story is kinda underrated?? i LOVE amy and rory and all the domesticity in it, story itself isn't too special, but i love the characters so much, also rory's dad's cube log was hilarious to me, man i loved it

5. Cold War (7x8) - i really like clara in this, and i think the story is pretty good. i like how it visually looks, and the ice warrior was an okay villain i think, also i liked the old guy, HOWEVER my memory is slightly affected by the fact that i had a horrible headache when i last watched it with my little sister and my mum and had to keep my eyes closed for most of the episode also i might've slept/almost slept

6. The Rings of Akhaten (7x7) - we all love 11's speech at the end, i think? it is so good, the long song is beautiful i love it, i also like the kid and how clara is so kind to her, i like their interactions, overall i just like the story

7. A Town Called Mercy (7x3) - i like the story, it's not the best, but i do think there are some really great moments in this episode, man i love amy and rory

8. The Snowmen (7x0) - i like victorian clara and as y'all probably have noticed, i love jenny, vastra and strax. yeah, i like this one too

9. The Time of the Doctor (Sx2) - 11's regeneration is really great and i'll be so honest i was so sad when the cyberman head died istg it was so sad to me, also the beginning is so funny with 11 going to dalek ship with a bit of dalek with him etc, i really do often like steven moffat's humour. it's not a perfect story but i like it

10. Asylum of the Daleks (7x1) - i like oswin and amy and rory's story in this was really interesting and so sad, i love them so much man. i like this one

11. The Bells of Saint John (7x6) - i like the modern day clara introduction, it's a pretty good story imo, don't have much to say

12. Nightmare in Silver (7x12) - even i'm aware that the script is pretty weak, but the first time i watched this, it was the first time i liked the cybermen, now i appreciate them and find them interesting villains, but back then, this kinda made me change my opinion. i also LOVE the way 11 and mr. clever switch back and forth and PLAY CHESS!!!!! i LOVE IT it's easily the best thing in the episode, i always find times when shows do this kinda internal fights like the character fights against themselves or there's scenes in their minds, i love that so much

13. The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe (7x0) - see the story is actually kinda beautiful and not bad, but i did NOT like the kids idk why but i didn't, the ending where 11 went to see the ponds was so sweet thooo and i'm glad the dad survived

14. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (7x2) - GREG LESTRADE WHY ARE YOU HERE, uhhh, i do like individual moments in this and the robots were vaguely funny, but yeah, not the best

15. Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS (7x10) - enjoyable, but not the best. i did kinda feel bad for the guy who was lied to, and i always love a story that has the TARDIS in a bigger role, also how clara got lost was so fascinating i liked it

16. Hide (7x9) - i do like some aspects of this, but i don't think it manages to be as scary as it tries to be. it's kinda boring at times and the romance felt a bit necessary, but i do think it's still enjoyable and i like how clara sort of realises how different and alien the doctor is

17. The Crimson Horror (7x11) - probably the only good thing was jenny imo, this is like probably my least favourite doctor who story, i HATE mr. smith with all my heart i HATEEEE it, all other worse stories have something saving them and making them enjoyable, in this episode i only like jenny, she's brilliant, but just. not enough to save the episode because i hate mr smith so much lol, idk it was too gross for me 😭😭

I've recently started listening to Olivia Rodrigo and I do vibe with her songs well, my favorite is probably "all I want"

Top favorite show is Just add magic. That show is so iconic ik it's for like kids but still. The writing of ALL seasons is impeccable idc how old I get that show is always gonna have the magical vibe in it. But also, Gilmore girls! Such a classic too ugh. I've been wanting to watch the Vampire Diaries idk I've just never got round to watching it.

Current favourite movie is Enola Holmes, I'm dying for the third one to come out 😭 Louis Partridge as Tewksbury was probably the best choice ever omgg

But can I just add that the The chronicles of narnia films are underrated asf? Like why does nobody talk abt them 😭 it's so nostalgic

Also, fave Disney princess? Definitely Rapunzel. She slays so hard istg

Book series? Honestly plenty, Pjo (duh), Kotlc, Agggtm, chronicles of Narnia, etc. but I have so many stuff on my reading list lol

But favourite book of all times? It's "as good as dead" Like the plot twist had me tweaking for hours 😭😭

Fave animal is probably pandas, Ive LOVED pandas since I was a kid they're so fluffy 😤 but also golden retrievers >>

Food? Cheesy pasta. Like with mushrooms and broccoli- yup I like veggies in my pasta okay. It's my fave I could eat that all day.

Drink? Coffee. Just the thought of coffee makes my day better tbh
