Red.

That's all that you're seeing at the moment. Red. Hot. Anger. It washes over you, blinds you. You're screaming, you think, but you can't really tell. It feels like your head is underwater—everything's muffled.

In front of you is your boyfriend, Jeonghan, who also seems to be very upset. At what? You don't know. The both of you don't, but here you are, screaming your head off at him whilst he retaliates with soft but stern words.

"I'm leaving," you announce, your chest heaving. Where? You're not sure; you just need to get away from him and everything. That's exactly what you do: you turn around and leave—your legs aimlessly bringing you to your unknown destination.

You're not great at handling problems. Whenever one arises, you tend to avoid it rather than confront it, retreating to your corner and hoping it will resolve itself. But life rarely works out that way, doesn't it? You’ve learned the hard way that running from your problems doesn’t make them disappear—it only makes them worse. They linger, growing in the background until they eventually explode in your face. You’ve tried to break this habit, and with Jeonghan’s help, you are starting to make progress. But as they say, old habits die hard.

And that’s how you ended up here, riding the train back to your hometown, Busan. You’re not even sure how or when you got on—it’s all been a blur, and it still is. You feel…hollow. Your mind is empty; blank. No emotions, no thoughts, just nothing. The scenery outside the window blurs together into a shapeless mesh of colours. The world feels dull and lifeless; everything that once seemed vibrant now looks dead and bland.

"This stop is Busan. This stop is Busan," the announcement jolts you out of your daze. With a sigh, you stand up and step off the train.

You take a deep breath, letting your body relax as the familiar air of your hometown fills your lungs. With no destination in mind, you start walking aimlessly through the bustling city, taking in both familiar and unfamiliar sights. It always amazes you how something about the city changes every time you return. A shop you used to visit might be gone, replaced by something new. The park might be renovated, with fresh equipment giving children even more to play with. Yet, there are constants that remain unchanged—the towering buildings reaching for the sky, the salty sea breeze, and the rhythmic crash of ocean waves. These are the things that take you back to your younger self.

You curl your toes, feeling the sand clump together beneath your bare feet. Somehow, your legs have carried you back to a familiar place—the beach you loved as a child. The cool waves crash against your feet as the salty sea breeze caresses your face. Your gaze drifts to the endless horizon, where the sun kisses the ocean, painting the sky in a breathtaking blend of orange and yellow. It looks like a masterpiece on a canvas.

You’ve always preferred sunsets over sunrises. There’s something captivating about the vivid shades of orange, yellow, and even pink that fill the sky—it never fails to mesmerise you. Sunsets mark the end of the day, a moment of closure after the struggle and effort of the hours before. While not everyone gets to see the sunrise, the sunset is a gift shared by all. And with the sunset comes the promise of the moon. The night sky, illuminated by the moon and scattered with stars, is something you could stare at for hours.

With a sigh, you take a few steps back and sit down, pulling your knees to your chest as you wrap your arms around them. You’re not sure how much time has passed when you hear the soft sound of footsteps approaching. A figure settles down beside you, mirroring your posture. You don’t need to look—you already know who it is. It’s the person you lashed out at before coming here, Jeonghan.

Resting your head on his shoulder, you take a deep breath, letting the salty ocean air fill your lungs. The two of you sit in silence, staring out at the sea, the rhythmic sound of the waves filling the space between you.

"You know I'll always be here for you, right?" He whispers, breaking the silence.

"Hm."

"No matter how far you go, even to the ends of the earth, I will always find you."

"Hm."

Silence.

"I'm sorry," you mumble.

"I'm sorry too," he whispers.

A small smile creeps onto both of your faces. There’s no need for words—you already know what the other wants to say. That’s why you’ve always found solace in Jeonghan. He’s your sunset at the end of a long day. Your constant.

The moon looks a little brighter today with Jeonghan by your side.

Nr.14 Kissing under the Guise of a Mistletoe ༻¨ : ·.. ｡⋆⍋*｡

Mattheo Riddle x reader CW: picture does not represent the readers looks, i tried a bit of my old writing style so please give me some feedback

“Come on,” Mattheo drawls, his voice low and teasing as he drops his head onto the table beside you, his dark curls brushing against your arm. “Just one. It won’t kill you.”

The corner of your mouth twitches, betraying the sharp glare you aim at him. It only fuels the smirk tugging at his lips. “I’m working,” you say firmly, trying to ignore how his dark eyes are roaming your face.

“Exactly. You’ve been working for hours. One little kiss won’t derail your masterpiece.” His smirk deepens as he props his chin in his hand, gaze now shamelessly wandering over your features, catching on your lips.

You raise a brow, glancing at him with a soft smile. “Like it ever stops at one kiss with you.”

Mattheo groans dramatically, letting his forehead thunk against the table. “You’re impossible.”

He sits up slightly, eyes narrowing in mock frustration, though you can see the amusement dancing there.

Without warning, his hands snake around your waist, pulling you flush against him just as your pen hovers over the parchment. “Careful, love,” he murmurs, voice dipping into that soft, velvety tone that always makes your heart flutter. “Wouldn’t want to smudge all that hard work.”

You exhale sharply, but the tension melts from your shoulders as his warmth embraces you. He presses feather-light kisses to your shoulder, pecking your skin softly.

His nose brushes against your neck as he buries his face there, his breath hot against your skin. It’s a far cry from the Mattheo Riddle everyone else knows- sharp-edged, untouchable and rude. 

here, he’s all softness and warmth, even if his teasing and smirk stay in place.

A few quiet moments pass, the silence filled with nothing but the sound of shared breaths and the occasional sound of his lips on your skin.

Then, his fingers move across the back of your neck to your hair.

“What do you do with this?” he murmurs, his voice soft and quiet, as he twists a strand around his finger. “It’s so soft, it’s unfair.”

“Matheo,” you warn, but there’s no bite to it, and he knows it.

“Sorry,” he says, though the grin laced in his tone makes it clear he’s anything but. He presses another kiss to your neck, then one near your jaw.

Something flickers above your head, startled, you glance up to find a floating mistletoe, glowing faintly in the dark light.

Your mouth falls open as you shoot him an incredulous look. “Are you serious?”

His lips curl into a grin, wider than his usual smirk, almost boyish in its brightness. Like he’s trying so hard to stay cool but his happiness overwhelmed him. 

“Deadly.” He tilts his head, feigning innocence. “I didn’t make the rules, darling. It’s tradition.”

You press your lips together, fighting the laugh threatening to spill out. “Mattheo-”

“Shh,” he interrupts, brushing a knuckle along your cheek with that hidden gentleness. “No need for words. Just kiss me, and I’ll graciously grant you ten whole minutes of uninterrupted work. Maybe fifteen, if it’s a really good one.”

You bite back a grin, rolling your eyes at his antics, but the warmth in his gaze and the faint blush dusting his cheeks make it impossible to say no.

@thekillingmoonmoon ofc moon is the first one i think when the topic "best writers" come up, i freaking love her and everything she does its not even fair to pick one thing so im picking 3, this super passionate toji work that i re-read at an alarming frequency (which btw i consider my own personal gift). yakuza choso and yuki aka the hottest duo ever. the cherry on top is her kishibe series (just realized i gotta catch up on)

@rinhaler - luxe is def on my top 3, she comes up with very organic scenes. even if it's a simple plot she can develop it so originally. I recently read her underground fighter!sukuna and i'm still thinking about it.

@laudthingcat has the best headcanons in the jjk fandom hands down, it’s the perfect dose of hot funny and cute, pick anything from her masterlist it’s guaranteed you’ll have a good time reading it. when you moan their name in your sleep in particular gives me butterflies

@meownotgood is obviously the best aki writer out there, you can see the love for aki in their words and how they write him so well and so into character. arrival in tokyo is truly a masterpiece, they also have a +100k words series i've been wanting to read for a while but i want to rewatch chainsaw man first hehe, i'm 100% sure is fire tho.

@kentoangel roma writes choso like she's in love with him and you can tell. shes always on my for you and even her snippets are *chefs kiss* special kudos to stepbrother!choso

@kentopedia i just realized i'm assigning a writer per character and nanami is definitely rylie's. the domestic lovely way she writes him makes me forget canon.

@tojisun another blog that is very often on my for you page. cannot talk about toji fics without bringing up sun, everything she writes about him has me furiously nodding. not to mention simon and konig, just talking about them makes me wanna run to her blog and binge read everything

@chocochipsushi 's bodyguard toji is unforgetable to me, i wish i lost my memory so i could read it all again for the first time. bodyguard toji is the definition of living rent free in my mind, whenever i have to deal with annoying coworkers i immediately think “bodyguard toji would not allow them to talk to me like that”

@suget one of the greatest geto writers for sure, they have so many geto works, i was going through their blog to find the one i read more recently and there was so many others i haven’t seen! another writer i could very easily spend a whole day binge reading. btw this cult leader one was recommended to me and i fell in love with it <3

okay, listen. i have thoughts. i have observations. and i’m going to share some of them with you.

in my experience, most writers have been leaving for one of these three reasons:

1. engagement (rather, the lack thereof)

yeah, yeah i know, writers post about this a lot but here’s why: it’s true. readers on this site, for whatever reason, don’t interact with fics as much as they used to. even some fics that get a lot of likes may only have one or two comments, maybe a couple of reblogs with no feedback.

for what it’s worth, i’ve always felt that for the size of my blog (and how flipping long it takes me to post something) i get wonderful reader feedback and engagement. but i see so many writers struggling out in these tumblr streets, posting really great work that gets very little feedback and it’s discouraging for them. i get it.

i will also be transparent and say that as a writer who biases a “less popular member” it kills me when amazing stories about him (and other “less popular members”) just fall flat.

one of the best hobi stories i ever read had 20 notes when i found it by accident. twenty. it had been posted for some time. in my mind, that was a crime—that story was an absolute masterpiece and it had 20 notes (!). i sent it to every person i knew short of my mama because i was offended that people hadn’t recognized its brilliance. sadly, that writer left tumblr and took her masterpiece with her which brings me to my next point:

2. drama and writer-on-writer crime

phew y’all, there’s just so much of it. i don’t know what it is about tumblr that makes some people lose their absolute minds but they sure damned do. i’ve been here for a minute and i have seen it all.

writers mounting anonymous hate campaigns against one another (this happens a lot). writers mounting anonymous hate campaigns against people they pretended were friends (this one happens a lot a lot). writers sending themselves a boatload of hate anons to get sympathy and attention on the dash (this one happens a lot a lot a lot).

popular writers going out of their way to befriend up-and-coming writers only to then turn around and start nasty whisper campaigns about them when the up-and-coming writer’s blogs and stories eclipse their own in popularity.

insecurity is a hell of a drug.

there are some writers who get on here and they’re cool and they stay cool and they enjoy success and guess what? they’re cool about it.

and then there are the writers who get a few thousand followers and a bunch of notes and delude themselves into thinking they’re real-life celebrities. to those writers i would say: pick the fanciest restaurant in your city, call to make a reservation on a friday night and if they don’t have a slot make sure you let them know you’re really big on tumblr. let me know how that works out for you, okay?

it sounds stupid and it is stupid but this happens on this site all the time. what makes me sad is that it drives people away. they take their personalities and stories and contributions to this insane little space we have here with them, which sucks. the author of that amazing hobi fic? deactivated her account over tumblr drama.

so if you have a blog here and you are so wrapped up in jealousy and insecurity that you feel the need to harass someone off the site (including “friends”), log off and seek help.

3. life (adulting, sigh)

this is the boring one, but it still tracks. this community blew up when covid hit and we all had a lot more time to muse about what kim namjoon would look like in his underwear. but so many people had to get back to the grind after a while, and that meant less time for tumblr and for writing in general (wait is this entire one about me oops)

when i started tumblr i wasn’t working full time. then covid hit. so i had a long stretch where i could dedicate a lot of time to writing and posting. and YES i was still slow, so go ahead and throw that tomato lmao but STILL. it really does impact the number of stories going up and some people who joined during the pandemic just don’t have the time to go back to this like they had before.

so yeah, that’s what i’ve personally seen and experienced on this site. the good news is that for every nasty, insecure writer on this site there are dozens of great people telling great stories. i’m going to stick around for them and i hope you do, too 💕

Hey, anon!

Oh fave fics! I love talking about fics and books, though I feel I talk about fics everyone knows and have nothing new to offer, esp since I've not read much in the last 2-3 years. Still, narrowing it down to 10 is super hard, so I've looked at my bookmarks and chose the ten fics that I've reread the most.

1. Bound Skerry by Frayach (drarry, M, 2.3k)

I've read this a hundred times and I'll keep coming back to it. Possibly my most read fic. The reason it's one of my Forever Fics is the prose. Absolutely stunning writing.

2. House Proud by astolat (drarry, M, 23k)

The original House Magic fic and the best one. I particularly love the hints of dark faerie magic, the horror elements and the brilliant worldbuilding. Astolat's prose is super readable and the pacing is excellent.

3. with exactness grinds he all by thistle_verse (drarry, M, 6k)

An aching fic with beautiful, lyrical writing. I've reread this so many times.

4. Art in Life by northofallmusic (tofsla) (wangxian, T, 2k)

I feel I'm repeating myself but this has excellent prose and it's aching and tender and made me feel all the feels.

5. Out of the Dead Land by orphan account (stucky, M, 63k)

OK so this hasn't stood the test of time because I finished it a few days ago, but WOW. Absolutely brilliant. I'm not even a stucky fan or anything. But I kept thinking about it when I was doing other stuff and I set aside the books I was reading so as to finish this. Now it's days later and it's still on my mind. I can't remember the last time I had a book/fic hangover. A very angsty fic and a fantastic exploration of Bucky's trauma. This is by one of my top authors of all time, who's now orphaned everything.

6. Mr Webster's Wager by Fahye + orphan author (same one as above) (Ash/Webster, E, 27k)

Now we're getting into the horny fics. This one is based on a KJ Charles short story which is the best romance short story ever written in my not so humble opinion. This takes the original story and the horniness of that scene and expands it into many horny scenes. It's masterful, very very hot, and just a fantastic fic.

7. Unhook the Stars by jad (drarry, E, 70k)

One of the first drarry fics I read and one that made a huge impression on me. Super kinky, lots of sex scenes, I've reread this a LOT.

8. IDK My BFF Hermione? by lettered (drarry, E, 19k)

Extraordinary. Phenomenal. It will always have a place in my Top 10. Also, very filthy, which is a huge plus in my book.

9. a better happier st sebastian by halsinator (Jonathan Strange, E, 6k)

Another one I reread a million times. Stunning prose and vibes and beautiful yearning. I keep coming back to it.

10. live from new york by varnes (wangxian, E, 87k)

A masterpiece, a classic of wangxian, this is a Saturday Night Live AU, which is such a bizarre choice for an AU--and yet it works. I don't live in US, I have never watched SNL, but I adored the fic.

I've left out a ton of favourite works and authors I adore, but for more of my faves, my AO3 Bookmarks is the place to go.

I have to say, this exercise has been quite illuminating: I don't think I've ever had such a clear glimpse of what makes me tick. In short, sublime prose, an aching, yearning mood and/or filthy porn.

As for my username, here's the story: I joined tumblr a gazillion years ago (way before I got into fandom) and my first blog (still exists: @magpie-x ) was mostly what you'd call an aesthetic blog. I'd reblog cool pics and quotes and occasionally post a personal post about my life. I named it magpie because it was a place where I collected everything shiny, like a magpie. I rarely used it after a while tbh. Years later I read The Raven Cycle and fell heads over heel with pynch and knew that the only place I'd find fans was tumblr. I got into the nascent TRC fandom and soon I needed a space exclusively for fannish posts. I created a sideblog called magpiefangirling and when I later got an AO3 account I shortened the name. Years later I got into drarry, I became very active on tumblr again, and the sideblog wasn't enough so I deleted it and created a brand new blog with my AO3 name.

In short, magpiefngrl, means magpie being a fangirl. It was a random decision but it has now shaped me and I think of myself as Magpie in fandom spaces, and even chose that as my pen name for my future original romance books.

Boromir tried to light the fire, but Pippin and Merry insisted for him to teach them more about combat. Boromir complained and continued to work on the fire, but you could see his smile at the constant requests. In your opinion, the only being capable of being truly irritated with the two hobbits is Gandalf.

Frodo sat beside you at the beginning of the cave and imitated you, observing the trail. You both could see Aragorn's back, who was taking advantage of the moonlight in search of fresh meat. "How did you both meet?" Frodo asked, now glaring at you.

"It's a long story." You always found intriguing how his eyes seen to contain sparks.

Frodo opened his mouth, but you already knew what he would say. "We have time for that."

"We do, mister Frodo." You looked for Aragorn, just to make sure he was safe and sound, and turned your body towards the hobbit. Gimli was out there with him, they will be fine. "I was seven. He was nine."

Elrond welcomed him into the Valley with open arms. Men were few among the Elves, but Aragorn was never a strange presence. He was just a kid who needed a home. And there is no shortage of houses in the Valley.

You remember the house in the backyard tree. Sometimes you want to get back. Not only to that house, but to that time. You remember how you both would scream at one another, enraged by the pranks that the other made. Aragorn always said he'd beat you up, and he was bigger than you. He never did. Never.

It was easier. Life was easier. You remember the stars shining, how the sky was somehow bigger than it's now. That moment when the world was a valley wide. When Sauron, power rings and a war were just bedtime tales.

You told Frodo about how you dared him to kiss you and you were ten. Ashamed, you ran when Aragorn tried. That night you slept well.

Just two kids. Aragorn and you.

Suddenly you wasn't just a little girl and Aragorn weren't a little boy anymore. When you're sixteen, something changed. Elrond jokes with other elves stopped being just jokes.

It was about the time you both started fighting. Slamming of doors instead of hugging goodnight. You remember all the times you both fight and you ran to your room, just to find out on the next morning that he stayed outside waiting for you.

"A few years had gone and come around", you told Frodo. "We were sitting at our favorite spot in Rivendell. Right in front of the river. And Aragorn looked at me, got down on one knee."

"And what did you say?" Pippin asked. Now everyone was paying attention. "Don't stop at the best part!"

"I've said I do." You proudly stated, showing the silver ring on your hand. Gandalf smiled to himself, remembering you walking down the aisle.

"It was beautiful", said Legolas. "You were beautiful."

For today, that was the end of your story. But you know that one day it will take longer to tell it. Because one you'll talk about rocking your baby on that very front porch Aragorn asked you to be his.

You'll be eighty-seven, Aragorn will be eighty-nine. You'll still look at him like the stars that shine, telling that story for your child's child. It would be a great song. Yes, it would.

@mbjw saved me from saturday boredom and tagged me in this, so thank you jubs, i enjoyed these a lot.

1. why did you choose your url?

i love khaotung. khaotung was obsessed with the capybara song last year before i even knew who he was. capybaras happen to be a very common animal in the region i live. i was very happy they were getting the recognition they deserved. put them together, we have lovely khao + capybaras = khaopybara (i'm also super sure i've seen people here and on tw use this and i just stole it. i'm not creative especially when it comes to usernames).

2. any sideblogs? if you have them name them and why you have them.

i have two other sideblogs. @tuseryoo for all of the gifs i make so i can have all of them in one blog just because, so i feel like i'm not losing track of the things i create (even though i haven't updated that one in a while), and @captain-xandis that some moots might have noticed in their notifications bc i recently created that one to post gifs about critical role, but i always forget to check which blog appears on top of the thingy, so i'm constantly deleting and reblogging things in the right blog these days.

3. how long have you been on tumblr?

as of july 3rd, i've been here for 11 years now, so since 2013? which tracks with my super strong k-pop phase tbh.

4. do you have a queue tag?

nah, i have a queue going for gifs that are requests or for episodes that already aired, but usually i just post things whenever.

5. why did you start your blog in the first place?

ha, i was into super junior. and i was experimenting with fandom for the first time at the time. that's it. i felt like tumblr was a lot more creative and pretty than twitter or facebook, so i stayed.

6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?

i am a mook defender and apologist. i also think aya is super cute and super pretty. i change icons so often though, i blame all the pretty women in qls these days for making me change it all the time.

7. why did you choose your header?

i am breathing and living for the heart killers and kantbison and unfortunately i'm dying from lack of content. the tattoo table kiss is going to change lives i think, so until we don't get the official version, i'll have this masterpiece displayed there somehow.

as of now, it's a 23.5 official trailer gifset of sun being jealous of ongsa with amazing 939 notes, but the gifset of lada protecting earn from hitting her head on the table is quickly catching up with 877.

i mean, sure? i do get embarrassed by my own shitposts sometimes and i delete them tho.

all the time. it's my favorite social media for sure. i get to see pretty things and my dash is much better curated than other apps. it's great.

i don't think i ever fought online. i block people with remarkable expedience tbh if i don't like their vibe or their tone or the shit they post, and i also make use of the filtered tags, so you know, no reason to fight.

15. how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts

these exist? good for them. you shouldn't tell people what to do.

16. do you like tag games?

sure! i only started being part of them now, so sometimes i forget them, or i just don't see i was tagged, but i do enjoy them.

i don't think i've ever done an ask game but that's mainly bc i think people won't want to know and won't send any asks, and i'd rather spare my ego from that humiliation.

i think many of my mutuals are famous in our ql bubble which makes it a little crazy that some are my mutuals tbh. that's most of them actually.

i do have people that make me kick my feet when they interact with my posts like, twirling my hair, silly smile, giggling because they've noticed me. but actually crushing, imagining our lives in the countryside, with a kitchen facing the meadow in a fine spring morning, with two dogs and three cats, no.

->Danganronpa: certain characters individually.

->Gen 6 Pokémon: I grew up with a copy of Y and a Latios my brother gave me, which has lead to a major love for these games and Latios in general.

->Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (Rescue Team, specifically): I'm pretty sure that the Gen 3 version was one of the first games I beat the main story for and it has a special place in my heart, along with RT!Gengar.

->Undertale (and the AUs): my 2020 fixation has sunk its teeth back into me. Yeah this is one of my on and off ones.

->The Life Series': yeah, this one is huuuuuuge. It's reached brainrot levels of fixation. I NEED more time to be able to catch up on everyone's povs. And Limited Life. Aw heck, I'd rewatch ALL of it if I had the time to.

->Phineas and Ferb: we started rewatching the show earlier in the year and how on earth had I never actually watched it before? Anyway new fixation.

->Miitopia: I go in and out of wanting to replay this masterpiece of a game, and it usually turns into a huge fixation of mine. Guess what came back.

->Fire Emblem Fates (and Awakening): Hello the last years on my 3ds, I missed you... I CAN satiate it by replaying the games, because I FOUND OUT MY A BUTTON STILL WORKS!

T8ET will always be my fav work I’ve ever written, I took so much time and put so much thought into writing that fic, my biggest accomplishment was making y/n the most hated😭😂! I felt it was three sides to that story in the fic, someone is always painted a villain in someone else’s story, so I felt it was time that we saw the “villains” pov, they got handed that title for doing what they felt was best. Yunhos redemption ark will forever be my favorite thing! You could never bore me🖤, know that! I’m always happy to discuss my fics with ppl, especially readers who pay attention to the small details, always my fav thing to do🖤!!

Biggest Fan: If your character has any kind of public renown, they must have fans, and if they have fans, they must have a Biggest Fan. The Stan. Usually this person is portrayed as obsessed, even dangerous. Is this the case with your character’s biggest fan? Do they follow every bit of news? Learn the minutiae of your character’s life and exploits? Rather than some rando, are they someone inside your character’s circle? Someone on the edges, whom your character might know, but not know of their fascination. Does your character ever find out? Does the Biggest Fan find a way to interact with your character? Is it creepy or flattering?
