Template can be found here.
Background & Personality:
Maisie is sweet, energetic, kind and empathetic, some people would even describe her as naive... Which couldn't be farther from the truth. She's born into a wealthy family that taught her and her sister everything there is to know about music and art, and just like her older sister, she pursued a music career at an early age, being known for her angelic voice. Still, despite her sweet personality and loving persona, Maisie can be very feisty to those who test her patience and wrong her or her loved ones; as she puts it: "my good opinion once lost is lost forever", which makes her susceptible to holding grudges.
Maisie is the youngest of two sisters, having an 11 year age gap with her oldest sister, and she's the aunt of Grace — @4necdote's OC. Grace and her family lost their fortune for a few years due to her sister's music producer taking advantage of them; during this time, Maisie did her best to support and help her family in every way, shape and form, working herself to the bone despite her young age to make sure they were safe and sound. Once her sister fell in love with a good man and got her fortune back, Maisie remembered her childhood dream of falling in love and building her own family, her own romantic fantasies that were once lost and locked deep into her subconscious due to what happened to her family came flooding back into her heart after this. Still, despite this, the damage of what happened to her sister made Maisie more wary of people in general, making her too difficult to please and really picky when it comes to her romantic partners, being scared of opening her heart to most people that weren't her family.
Fun facts: Maisie is a jazz singer, and despite being well-known, she's less famous than her older sister, who's an opera singer; Maisie is often mistaken for being much younger than she actually is, and it's one of her insecurities; Maisie has only had 1 boyfriend despite her age, due to her unrealistic standards, and her first kiss was awful and she prefers to not talk about it please; she's albino
Basic info:
Height: 160cm
Age: 25
Nicknames: Mai (by friends and family), Whiskers and Ribbons (by Fellow)
Birthday: December 11th
Dominant hand: left
Favorite food: sole meunière
Occupation: singer
Hobbies: playing the piano, painting
Homeland: Shaftlands
Unique Magic: [to be added]
Relationships:
Grace ( @4necdote's OC): Maisie is Grace's aunt, but due to their small age gap, Maisie and Grace feel more like two sisters. They're very fond of each other, especially because of the period of time where Maisie had to take care of her family; Grace is often referred to as Maisie's favorite nephew, and Grace is always the one to receive Maisie's clothes when she needs to get rid of her old ones. Maisie usually tries to give Grace advice, and despite her lack of experience, she's usually wonderful at helping Grace with her romantic life, helping her realize her feelings towards Floyd once she complained about the boy to her aunt.
♡ Fellow Honest: because I still need to know more about Fellow due to not knowing the full story of Playful Land, I can't go into detail about their story, however! Fellow and Maisie are exes, him being the only boyfriend she's ever had. His playful demeanor and charming persona managed to sweep her off her feet, and Fellow genuinely fell for Maisie as well... But due to issues relating to Fellow's life, Fellow betrayed her trust and they broke up, but both of them still have strong feelings towards each other.
Gidel: Maisie had, and still has, a soft spot towards Gidel. She sees him as a sweet and wonderful boy, and often encourages him to seek his dreams and grow as a person. Gidel clings to her and views her as an older sister, and because of this he was deeply hurt once they had to part ways due to Fellow and Maisie's breakup.
Vil Schoenheit: after learning he's Grace's housewarden, Maisie keeps an eye out for him in order to know if he treats her nephew well, and upon learning about his personality and how he treats others, Maisie is very pleased with him, even taking an interest in his work and complimenting his acting and singing in the times she manages to see him.
Floyd Leech: Maisie finds Floyd... Interesting, to say the least. Despite this, she can see how much he cares for and loves her nephew, and because of that she gives him his full support, often helping him out and making ways for them to spend time together, much to Grace's dismay.
Sam: Maisie and Sam are childhood friends. They went to school around the same time, and Maisie was a victim of many of Sam's tricks and schemes — although they were all made with light hearted intentions. Although they went to different schools, they saw each other rather frequently and keep in touch even today, Sam sometimes attending her shows and Maisie making sure to advertise his business whenever she can.
Crewel: Maisie met him when she grew up through Sam, and they hit it off right from the get go. They usually talk about fashion together and often shop together when they want to catch up, and at some point, Crewel tried making attempts to flirt with her. Unfortunately, due to still having feelings towards Fellow, Maisie wasn't able to reciprocate, so their relationship is purely platonic, however Crewel wouldn't mind taking her on a date if she ever decided to give him the opportunity.

OKAY SO I AM slightly shy about sharing my Welcome Home oc after being absent from this account for a hot minute but- MEET DANDY! Dandy Leon, the quiet flower gardener and neighbor in welcome home! Ignore how horribly I edited the template by @fetusmeme I have been relying on a toyhouse code for Dandy's "official" little neighborhood page and I am so bad at editing templates. I couldn't fit all of Dandy's silly info into the template so I'll put the full bio down below!-
"Resident gardener of Welcome Home, Dandy Leon is a calm, careful presence among the others in the neighborhood. They enjoy the quiet and spending their time tending to their various flowers. While a little shy around their fellow neighbors, they open up quickly when asked about their garden. Despite their more introverted disposition, they're always determined to make everyday just dandy!"
Dandy came onto the cast only in later episodes of the show, not getting much screentime before it's end. But in old scripts found with them, it's shown that they moved to Home specifically because they were interested in the local plant life there. The episode that featured their move in seemed to focus on them slowly warming up to the others in the neighborhood, as their shy nature made it difficult for them to properly meet everyone. When asked as to where they lived before moving to Home, Dandy mentions living in a farm town far away, simply deeming it "far more south from here!" A lot of their dialogue also mentions their father, though he's never named but instead mentioned passively as Dandy would often use phrases like "Well it's like my pop always said-" when speaking to the other puppets.
During their short time on the show, Dandy's segments focused on teaching easy 'do it yourself' gardening tricks that audiences could follow along with, usually showing these to the other neighbors while in their garden. While they were always shown as polite and nice, their quiet personality clashed with the more loud ones in Home. Julie and Sally being namely the neighbors they struggled to communicate with, often shown feeling a bit talked over. However Dandy is still depicted around Julie in illustrations, especially alongside Frank as the two got along quite well in the show. Frank and Dandy often shown chatting about their respective interests together. Before the show's end however, most of Dandy's screentime is with Wally as he tried to get Dandy out of their shell more to spend time around others.
Interestingly, what pronouns were used for them seemed to change between the shows episodes and illustrated materials. While neighbors would refer to them as 'she' during the show, most art pieces seemed to refer to Dandy as a 'he'. Whether this was simply a miscommunication between teams or a printing error is unknown.

ok y'all got two really cute OCs from me, but it's time for the big bad and mandatory sona <3
as usual, you can find the template here! made by @fetusmeme! pls check out their art and OC!!!!
some info about them under the cut!
Along with Paige & Tabby Trouble, Mx Wolf is also a character exclusive and created specifically for the animated Welcome Home show! Mx Wolf was meant to be a recurring antagonistic character - not a full villain but just mean enough to cause a big chunk of the conflict. Y'know like every annoying rival in every kids show.
...And since the show follows Wally (and the viewer) then I like to think that Mx Wolf has that one trope where the protagonists are the only people who aren't fooled by their shenanigans and lies <3. Basically I want them to Not Get Along with Wally and You, I think its fun!
Their status as a celebrity is never expanded upon and it changes everytime it's brought up - like, yeah he can be a singer, a model, an accomplished writer or whatever is convenient for the plot. They're probably lying anyway! The only thing truly real is that he's very popular outside of Home.
They're also based on many of my fave wolf-related fairytales for no reason other than I love shoving them everywhere I go <3. Mx Wolf is a liar in honor of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, they have no proper residence in home and stay over at everyone else's houses as a nod to the wolf in the Three Little Pigs. And they're half-goat as a nod to the Seven Goats story. And bc my main sona is a goat. but ANYWAY <3
I wanted to give them a red suit instead of salmon, so it could be a nod towards Red Riding Hood but I also wanted to keep the pastels - their palette being muted instead of vibrant and colorful is deffo on purpose, to make him feel out of place with the rest of the cast.
Mx Wolf also grew up with Paige and Tabby Trouble, so pretty much everything that people find annoying about the siblings is something they picked up from Mx Wolf. I like to think that Mx Wolf is the reason the siblings were kicked out from the Big City, so they're in very awkward terms but they fear him just enough to still act as little henchmen from time to time. Dysfunctional found family stuff!

writer interview
thanks for tagging me @narrativefoiltrope! <3 ik i don't really answer these ask/tag games v much anymore but i appreciate being tagged!
tagging: @lilas @bceky (teehee! i think it'd be fun if you answered on your game dev blog) and whoever wants to answer!
when did you start writing?
I definitely have clear memories of writing stories as early as 5th grade, so when I was like, 9-10 years old on an old Windows computer. And not too long after that, I started writing fanfiction for Inuyasha since I was obsessed as a kid.
I don't know if this counts, but in my professional job, I've been editing and sometimes writing policies for my lab for maybe four years now, but that's more technical writing than creative.
are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?
I end up reading a lot of what friends recommend to me, but what I read the most are sci-fi, speculative fiction, memoirs, and horror/thriller/mysteries! I'm open to quite a bit tbh and have more fun talking about shared reads than reading itself.
is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?
LMAO nah, I haven't published fanfic in 2 years at this point so there's really no reason to compare me to anything at all. Professional I follow a template my co-worker made since I find the break down to be helpful for ease of use. I like authors who are really, really good with economy of language and pack a lot of punch with less words but I can't think of a good example right now.
can you tell me a bit about your writing space?
It's either my phone at 11 pm when I should be sleeping or my dinky lil Target desk! I use two screens at work so I can compare other policies or bring up websites for product information though, so that feels kinda fancy.
what’s your most effective way to muster up a muse?
A lot like Erin I get inspired just chatting about OC head canons! Making up scenarios, usually in a jokey way, and wanting to explore it a little bit more in a drabble since I don't really do longform writing at all.
what’s your reason for writing?
For work it's just an extra project for me to have and do when I have free time, and I'm generally OK with it. It looks good on my yearly eval. Otherwise I just write as a hobby! Most of my writing I don't even share with other people </3. It's fun for me to do, I like my lil dolls and smacking them together. Art is harder and harder for me to do these days, so sometimes it's easier to just write a lil something when the need to create hits me.
is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?
If I do share my writing w/ friends a good keysmash or emoji reaction makes my day! <3 Or I love when people point out particular lines they really enjoyed.
how do you want to be thought about by your readers?
For my work, I just want the policies to be comprehensible, easy to navigate, and a useful source of information. I write them with the intent that if I were to come into the lab as a new person, I could refer to the technical documents and know how to perform that particular bench work.
Otherwise: my readers are just my friends, if they're having fun than I am too! And if you hated it don't tell me :(
what do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?
Professionally I think I'm good at really getting down the nitty gritty details of how something is done. I know how I'd want it to read as someone who needs carefully detailed instructions, so I write for myself and I think it comes off as clear.
Creatively, I really don't know! I don't think I'm good at writing. Maybe my greatest strength is that I also don't give a fuck if I'm good or not??? If I'm not confident about it I'm just not sharing it lmao.
how do you feel about your own writing?
It's a creative outlet! I like getting to be indulgent, and I'm not as critical with my writing as I am with my art. :) I can be as experimental or serious as I want! But I also desperately want to delete old TWC fics/microfics that I posted on my main blog because I feel intense cringe at them at this point and don't want them to be seen anymore.

Hi there! I noticed you're away for the week, so no worries if you can't answer right now.
I just wanted to say I love your mood boards; they're so perfect!
Most of the time, you don't even include pictures of the main characters, but the mood is so clear that you can easily envision them.
Do you have any advice for a newbie like me who wants to start creating mood boards? What's your process?
Oh, anon, thank you! 🖤 That is so sweet of you to say, and I am so touched that you've enjoyed my moodboards! Putting this under a read more because it got a little long!
For making moodboards (and pretty much any of my designs like my fic banners) I use Canva. They have some great free templates available where you basically just have to drop the pictures into the spaces and it's already formatted and everything!
As far as finding images go, I usually will use either the images provided by Canva, or ones from Pinterest, since I have boards for all of my series. As of right now, like for my aesthetic boards, I may start with searching "Character Name Aesthetic" into Pinterest and see what pops up. Sometimes, I have specific images in mind, like with Tommy I knew I wanted horses and cigarettes to be featured somewhere. If I need to, I'll adjust the brightness/other aspects of a photo after uploading it into Canva in order to make it fit with all the images in the moodboard, and if I need to I'll also crop things to fit better.
When it comes to formatting moodboards, I have a bit of a rough template I try to follow for the different types of boards I've made, specifically aesthetic, OC appearance, OC x Canon, and Fics.
For aesthetic boards, I try to find images I highly associate with the character or OC, and sometimes if a character has a specific color scheme, like red for my Peaky Blinders OC Lucy or blue for my Inception OC Alice, I'll try to search for images focusing on those colors, and use 4 of those and 4 more neutral colored images so that the color really pops. Then I'll put a quote that fits the character as the center image of the board. I mostly use 9 image (3x3) moodboard templates. Typically I try to keep these faceless, just because I like the challenge of trying to find at minimum 8 images to fit a character that don't involve their actual physical appearance, but you can 100% use these too if you want!
For OC appearance boards, I try to find 4 photos of clothing that they would wear which go in each corner of the 3x3 moodboard, 2 of their hair (faceless) which goes on the two middle spaces of the right and left columns, 1 of their eye color to go in the center, and 2 of their faceclaim to go in the top middle and bottom middle rows. Basically what I want to do is give as good of a general consensus as I can of what my OC looks like. Because I can't draw, this is sort of how I can convey to anyone interested how I personally picture my OCs.
For OC x Canon, I use a similar method as I do for OC appearance. I find 4 aesthetic images that either I can relate to their relationship or that just fit the "vibe" of them as a couple. For example, in my Alice x Robert moodboard, I have an image of the ocean there because the ocean is a big motif in their series. These go in the 4 corners of the 3x3. I also find a quote that fits them as a couple to go in the center, and an image of the OC faceclaim and the canon character to go in the middle spaces of the right and left columns. For the top middle and bottom middle rows, I find two faceless "couple" pictures. Something like two people holding hands, cuddling, kissing, etc.
Finally, for fic-specific moodboards, I take basically the same approach as I do for OC x Canon, except the quote in the center and the aesthetic images in the corners should relate to the topic of the fic, and not necessarily just the OC x Canon relationship.
Obviously this is just how I prefer to do things, as I like having clear systems and templates in place that I can easily follow, and you can make your moodboards however you chose! My main tips would be to try to ensure you have a clear theme, whether that's just a specific color or a topic, character, or story motif. That'll help your moodboard feel more cohesive. And just play around with it! Try out different images, try them out in different spots, adjust the image settings like the brightness or contrast, try out filters (I use the black and white ones a lot) and just have fun!
Let me know if you have any other questions or any other comments related to this! I am by no means an expert, but I'm always happy to help! 🖤

It's 2023 and I'm still using the same template now 7 years in a row! Yippeee!
This year I decided to ramble about each artwork presented so uh. Storytime! Under the cut.
(Also usual reminder that now I have a GW2 side blog so that's where I'll upload GW2 artworks from now on -> @glitchgw2 (except the zine piece because I entered the zine with this blog))
January: I was going through a bit of an artblock, most of the things I drew this month were traced. One of the only things not traced was this Anassy! "Ah, etto... bleh!" I said after tracing the 5th drawing I saw on the internet.
February: a commission! Long overdue, but I finally finished it. Sylvaries are always tough to render. >.< The other things I drew this month were art party doodles and personal stuff.
March: one of the two months where the featured piece is the only thing I "finished" that month. And last minute, too! Made for trans visibility day which was on the very last day of March.
April: due to several things, Tyria Pride 2022's art commission giveaways got delayed to 2023. This was my piece for the person I was assigned to! ^_^ This was fun, I found out some new ways to render sylvari hair...
May: I vividly remember seeing a Diavolo art with this same reference and I was like hey. I could do this too but with Lucien. How haven't I done this before. P.S.: he's actually nothing like Bateman but it's a sick cover anyway lol. Mmm knife...
June: it was a sick (as in like epic) month for me. I reworked Dawn and Incendere (my Ghost OC), welcomed my unhinged self and drew a lot of nsfw. But not good nor holy enough to share. :P But it was a nice practice anyway. I chose one drawing of Dawn because out of everything I drew it looks the most "clean" and finished.
July: I remembered My Life as a Teenage Robot as I do tri-monthly and almost made an AU for Lucien. Almost. So instead I just made whatever this is. This was one of the most fun pieces I've ever did, I finally feel comfortable lining in CSP and just in general this was super shapey and smooth to work on. <3
August: Tyria Pride giveaway commission but this time, in time! I got to work on a lovely charr which I don't do often! My other choices would have been a cropped nsfw commission but I lowkey like this one better.
September: the other month where I didn't draw anything but this. Had a banger idea for Gliaster's future which is them becoming a lich but also being corrupted by malignant powers so they're now even more evil and also driven by vengeance towards the Commander and Aurene. Tried to come up with a design for them, alas this piece. It's... very in progress. But I like said progress so far.
October: the opportunity for an art related full-time job came up which meant I had to up my portfolio and draw some realistic/semi-realistic studies. I was surprised by myself lmao but ngl it was also a big pain in the ass. Art is suffering. <3
November: the continuation of October but now with an original piece! Felt like drawing one of my best friend's GW2 characters. <3 Haven't uploaded this one yet as I might rework the background sometime.
December: and finally, my piece for Commander Of Your Heart GW2 zine! Which wasn't actually restricted to only Commander characters, but any other OCs/player characters too, so of course I chose Gliaster. :D And we can apparently show teasers, so I can include this little bit! But what is Gliaster up to? Find out in February, for free!
*
Aaand that's it. It was actually super fun to look back to the year not only in pictures but some words too. :D If you read this all, I appreciate you, thank you so much. <3

Just wanted to say first off that I love your artwork so much and it’s so fun to just scroll through. I’ve also become curious about playing 커뮤/commu (or trying to put one together) and would love to learn more about how they work.
Like for instance, how do character sheets and classes/powers work for a system that seems very open RP-based? Is there a particular omni-genre sheet or system that people often use for 커뮤? Or is that that something entirely up to the admins?
Give my love to Nero, Soren, and ESPECIALLY Charlotte
in the end it's very much like an dnd server on discord! except it's public and usually very short term (7-30 days)
essentially a commu is like a tabletop rpg with as much dice as you want, the admin team is the dm/npcs, and you recruit members based on their character sheet that they submit based on the template you make
so the foundational pillar is the admin team, which:
does all the worldbuilding, including setting boundaries and parameters for the characters
sets an event schedule and/or sets up a plot -- there's some really casual ones you go with your friend you ship your OCs with where they do couple games, and then there's one i just got out of that had time loops and also forced us to choose between executing a bunch of innocent people and completing our mission which was pretty intense
basically you are writing an rpg one-shot module! it can be as complex or as simple as you want, i've gone to ones that had stats and ones that didn't. this essentially means that you are writing a whole system! so if you want to include combat, you...are probably making a combat system from scratch, which means you usually have to also think about balance
you also probably want to determine a rating. most of the ones i went to were pg13 but there's specific ones rated R for either gore/violence or ERP
often people make a temporary website with notices, world info, rules, character sheet templates, and FAQs
the admin also moderates. if someone's being unfairly left out, you give a general warning, for example, or if someone is being an asshole you give them one strike, etc.
then you make a template for applicants and essentially pick the ones you think will make for the best story. historically, this has caused some drama. there is so much drama in commu
usually the commus that incorporated stats had specific roles (dps/tank/healer) and you had up to a certain amount of stat points that affected your skills (so a dps character might calculate their damage by idk ((attack)d6)/2) or something). so the roles would be part of the character application template, and the applicant would distribute the stats how they wanted it
so yes, in the end, the sheet is entirely up to the admin, and the applicants generally get creative within the space you create! soren, for example, had a power ranking (A), role (tank), reason for participating in the commu storyline (he didn't care but his friends did so he's doing it on their behalf) but i made up his ability (turns into a gryphon) and stuff about his family, past traumas, etc.
while the commu is running, applicants generally RP with each other and make their own relationships and mini plotlines (soren is now bffs with another character because they both lost siblings/students) but the admin administers a scheduled plot to keep things moving (nero, for example, was part of a group that went around stopping monster dungeons around the world so every week the admins would say ok they're going to peru now. and then florida.)
while commus are usually short, sometimes they have like...seasons? one of my friends ran one based on the uma musume setting and recently they did a season 2 of the same commu with new applicants
back when twitter was whole, two comms i went to also had a sparring system using a bot and keywords (so you'd type [attack] or [evade] or whatever and depending on your character's stats, which the admin entered into the bot, you'd get an automated reply that gave you the result of your actions), gacha (same as above, and also included things like...pet eggs and equipment and whatnot), a store with potions/etc., i know one that had like literal mini-rooms with pixel furnitures that people could buy through currencies earned doing daily quests or whatever....that was really intense though lmao people usually do not go that far
commus also often have like....specific disclaimers written for good reason, usually to do with code of conduct and not being bigoted/being inclusive (unfortunately female characters often get ignored in rp, and also oh my god so much casual bigotry)
TL;DR making a commu is essentially writing a whole oneshot module that you're publicly recruiting players for! honestly though it is a Lot of work setting it up and then maintaining it even for the short time it runs
#long post#text#anon#replies#the one i just went to also had diff buffs depending on the rank since it was a military-style setup#since my character was a corporal he had a 1.2 buff to defense#also you would not believe the shit that goes down on commus#it has ended friendships and also has revealed people's asses#i'm so glad you like charlerusse!!!!!!!! she's my baby

━ PINNED POST
This story happened long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
It is already over. Nothing can be done to change it.
It is a story of love and loss, brotherhood and betrayal, courage and sacrifice and the death of dreams. It is a story of the blurred line between our best and our worst.
It is the story of the end of an age.
A strange thing about stories…
Though this all happened so long ago and so far away that words cannot describe the time or the distance, it is also happening right now. Right here.
It is happening as you read these words.
This is how twenty-five millennia come to a close. Corruption and treachery have crushed a thousand years of peace. This is not just the end of a republic; night is falling on civilization itself.
This is the twilight of the Jedi.
The end starts now.
For my masterlist, please check this post here!
I. ABOUT ME II. RULES III. REQUESTS IV. TAGS V. SOCIAL MEDIA
Hello there! I'm Milo, or Momo, a 19-year-old freelance illustrator and writer from Germany. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and have been influenced by it as well as other scifi franchises ever since I was a little boy. I'm not very good at interacting with other people based on my interests or being social in general but I really wanted to change that, so I created this blog to share my love for Star Wars and its story on!
As many things, I too have a set of rules I'd like you to read through and respect, though I know I have little control over but then again, the block button isn't very far ;)
No real-life politics: Politics are an important subject in Star Wars considering it revolves a lot around, well, wars. However, this blog was made in order to be able to leave behind reality and escape into our beloved galaxy far, far away every once in a while and despite there being a lot of bad things in the world, I intend to keep it that way.
No bigotry/sexism/racism/etc. I'm aware that especially sexism is a huge problem in the Star Wars franchise and I'd like to make it very clear that I absolutely do not stand with that. I want my Jedi girls and trooper sisters to know, that they're loved and appreciated on here!
Be patient! As much as I'd rather be a cool Jedi, I'm afraid that I too have a busy schedule, especially considering I'm a physically disabled student who spends a lot of time either studying or going to various therapies. With that in mind, I'd very much appreciate it if you'd be a little patient with me when it comes to requests.
Regarding clonecest I'm aware that the topic of clonecest is a very heavily discussed topic in the fanbase. Despite me not being a shipper of such kind, I do not necessarily care whether you do interact with/enjoy it or not. Your interests don't matter to me as long as you don't harm anyone while acting upon them. (This however does not count for lolicon or anything alike.)
If you want to request something from me, please sent me an ask following this template:
Character Reader (gender, type, etc.) One-Shot or Headcanons? Prompt/Idea (can be a sentence, a scenario, etc.)

Decided to indulge myself with another trainer sprite and trainer card for myself- once again using this site to help with team organization and overall for clean assets and clean asset sizing
More info under the cut
Something different I wanted to do was try to make myself comfortable with easing up my usual shading style.
These two, for instance, are May and Tracey in my usual style (i forget if i uploaded these- these are from ny Ash AU basically). Personally, I think it can pop, but there's also a lot more work put into them and they come across as less authentic, not to mention I'd like to steer towards a simpler style that I can make pop with less shading.
For a standard splice edit, i think it's not too bad. The outfit is based on a combo of clothes I own I wish I felt confident wearing in public, lighter weight clothes I wear in the summer to cool off, and I even gave myself the headband I wear when I do outdoor work. Also, I wanted to indulge a little- I'm getting a bit more muscular and slightly leaner lately, and I wanted a sprite to kind of reflect this.
As for the card itself, it's a modified Academy Key I made previously for a bunch of OCs, and again, I kinda see this as a Keychain kinda deal. There's also sort of influence from a driver's license- grade indicating what type of trainer you are (and not grading percentage in school lol). Kinda like how real life licenses can show certification for normal cars are different vehicles.
I imagine you insert the pass key into a pc like a thumb drive to access your pc and your party that way, with your party being represented and changed digitally.
The team I chose is basically a mix and mash of Pokemon I've had on my mind lately and wanna use more often. It was actually kinda hard to narrow it down due to all the type clashes with my favs (for instance, having Hisuian Samurott, Scizor, Golisopod, Corviknight, Alolan Marowak, and Hisuian Typhlosion would have so much type overlap, and I'm way too picky about that).
They're all Pokemon I've owned and used and could see myself taking a vacation with em.
1. Doujikiri/Shiny Hisuian Samurott, the same shiny I shiny bred for in my Indigo Disk adventure. It was between this or my shiny Umbreon, but I ended up going with Hamurott because it's my favorite starter, and I can see myself walking with it like it's a big dog (which it does in SV) or swim with it.
2. Klamps/Scizor, my main ace in my last playthrough of Soul Silver. I've had a strange hyperfixation on it lately, and who could blame me? It's a cool design. I'd imagine this would probably be the "sakuga" Pokemon- or at least the designated close combat fight scene Pokemon.
3. Lightning/Jolteon, I own 3 but Lightning is the one I used in XD GoD in my first successful playthrough of it. Jolteon actually used to be my favorite eeveelution for a while, and I want a little spunky doggo to run around with
The next three were actually on my Teal Mask team
4. Yoginator/Blood Moon Ursaluna, who is easily one of my strongest mons. Idk, mine hates me lol, so maybe we'd bond.
Nah for real he hates me. This was from a selfie I took in game
5. Hollabax/Baxcalibur. I dunno, he's not particularly strong and tanks hits like a missile through tissue paper, but I kinda wanna vibe with it again. Could see us using its ice to keep cool
6. Shogun/Hisuian Typhlosion. Again, kinda missed mine. Johtonian Typhlosion was my first Pokemon, and I vibed with the Hisuian variant a bit. Could see it as a stand in for my old girl. It was between this and Alolan Marowak, and I just like Typhlosion a little more.
That's all for them.
The team is made using the team maker link, the trainer sprites are a mix of editing from official sprites and scratch work, and the card is a template I made myself.

2024 July Monthly Update - Artfight
Another July gone by, another Artfight draws to a close. This month's update post will be primary looking at what I've made for Artfight, but first some personal updates:
I mentioned in my last post I was dealing with wrist pain but it was getting better. It got worse. The last few weeks of July I spent not moving my hands as much as I possibly could because both hands were feeling so bad. Luckily I managed to figure out the cause (I bought myself a wheeled bag to take stain off my back when grocery shopping, turns out wheeled bag + cobblestone streets = wrist destroying vibrations) and once I eliminated it my wrists started actually healing. They're feeling much better now, not fully healed but well on the way :) I'm just glad art wasn't the cause. With any luck this'll be the last monthly update this year with a 'personal circumstances' blurb at the start and I can get fully back to just making and talking about art ✨
Artfight
This year was my 8th year participating, which is kind of wild to think about. My first year was Sun vs Moon, on team moon and I drew 34 total art pieces. I don't think I've ever beat the number but I certainly got close this year having drawn 30 attacks!
I didn't have a specific plan going into artfight this year, I usually don't other than maybe a list of people I'd like to draw for. I treat artfight as a super low pressure way to experiment and draw fun designs. Not every piece comes out exactly how I want it but that's part of the fun and every year at least one artfight drawing makes it's way to my fav art that year.
At the end of June I'd just made a template for doing these chibi icons and I was having so much fun with them I started off artfight doing a bunch of them for attacks:
I think they turned out super cute but they look a little awkward side by side due to the different dimensions of each one. I've yet to find a good way to display batches of them 😔
The first bigger drawing I did was of a character I found in my bookmarks and I love how it turned out:
It was the perfect piece to break the last shackles of my artblock away and drawing it felt smooth as butter. I didn't really do anything similar the rest of the month but there's several points on how I lined and colored this one that I'm keeping in mind to experiment more with in the future.
After the first piece I was feeling in a more environmental mood and freehanded these two attacks featuring characters in funky landscapes.
My wrists were still feeling pretty iffy at this point so the lines for both of these were a very loose first pass over a rough sketch but to be honest I don't think anyone would notice unless I pointed it out.
I really thought I'd do more in this style but 🤷♂️ it ended up not happening. Maybe I'll do something with some ocs soon
The last three attacks I got out before my wrists got too bad to draw I did all in the same day
These two characters were exactly my type & I love to draw chibis on some kind of environmental base or prop so I wanted to do something with that this artfight as well. I think they turned out pretty cute!
Another one with a base, this time more like a character standee that I love to give dnd characters. Physical character models moving around on a map is one of my favorite tactile experiences of tabletop games.
The last one I did before I had to take a couple week pause - I wanted to experiment around with linework specifically and while there's a lot I like about this drawing there's several things I had to rush or simplify because of my wrists and overall it didn't end up being the strongest piece. Ah well, that's how it sometimes.
The day after I did these I went grochery shopping again and then my wrists really gave out. I didn't draw anything for artfight from the 12th until the 29th when my hands were finally starting to feel good enough to try and do just a few last drawings before the end.
I started off simple with some blocky chibis with saturated lineart. I'd played with colorful lines in the past but I never ended up liking because having all the lineart be one bright color always felt too much and too distracting. However, earlier this month I saw this gorgeous attack by ebelcities which made my realize the extremely pointless arbitrary restriction I'd been putting on myself: you don't need to have ALL the lineart be a bright saturated color, of course you don't! How trivial! And yet this was a huge breakthrough. I have to thank ebelcities for having such beautiful art 🥰 Seeing her work is always sooo inspiring.
I still didn't want to push my hands too much so my next attack was done mostly using the lasso tool, with a few textures added on top. This attack received the least attention on social media out of all of them but personally I'm pretty proud of it 🤍
In the last two days my hands were feeling MUCH better and I took advantage of that to try and reach my initial goal I had at the start of the month - 30 attacks to fill up a whole page on my all attacks section with attacks from this year.
I had 7 left to do - and I did it!
I wanted to keep them simple both of the sake of my hands (drinking game for this post - take a shot anytime I mentioned my wrists) and to actually finish 7 drawings in 2 days. But I also didn't want to just give people rough sketches, especially since most of these were revenges for some really lovely art I'd gotten. So I came up with the idea of A) a border template and B) using tones!
I've been really into dot tones recently but I've not really been using them as is the traditional method - it was a bit of a challenge doing them in these! Picking tones, getting a range of values, matching textures, getting the size of the dots right... so many decisions to make. I'll have to keep experimenting with them, maybe for some actual comics in the future :)
And that's it for this year's artfight. We'll be hearing the results soon but even before hearing them I think seafoam has probably lost haha, we've been lagging behind all month and I had a feeling this would happen when I saw the team numbers but I still love seafoam regardless <3 I'm looking forward to seeing what the teams will be next year!
#artfight#monthly updates#this is a long one folks!#I hope people will find my thoughts interesting to read :)

AITA for abandoning my world for 103 years?
Ok I know this sounds bad but let me explain.
I (NB, don't really have an age) am the creator of two worlds but only one is important to this story. The one that isn't relevant is more like a world-sized computer, but the relevant one is just your average world with life and stuff, and was the first one I made.
Before you mention it, I know there are guides and templates for life created by the God community. I know the best way to make stable life is to put a simple organism on the world and let it evolve to fit the environment. I know. Believe me, I know. But I certainly didn't know or care back when I made this world because I wanted to make everything from scratch. That was foolish of me. I know. I should have at least read a guide or something.
All this to say I made a bit of a mistake with my initial thought algorithm. Because thoughts work quite fast and I wanted to see everything so I could troubleshoot, I introduced an intentional "throttle" into the algorithm; it would wait for me to acknowledge the thought before it progressed. It's all fun and games until you forget to remove that throttle and create countless creatures all using that flawed algorithm. Yeah.
I didn't want to wipe everything out and start over because that seemed needlessly cruel. Applying patches to anything, especially something like brains, live is a difficult and risky process for the person with the brain. So I just kinda set up a "server room" of power that would just auto-acknowledge anything coming through. That was a temporary solution.
I spent a good couple centuries working out a method to patch the throttle out of my beings. The expansion of life was beginning to overwhelm my temporary measure. I was tired. So tired. I finished it and found blissful silence awaiting me. Wonderful.
In fact I was so tired I wanted to take a bit of a break. I'd also use the time I would be out to test and workshop a self-sufficient, hands-free (for me at least) way to keep my world safe from any existential threats. They're not common, but it's always a good thing to look out for.
So I decided that I would randomly give out my power to people, disappear completely (except for a couple recording devices that were hidden ofc), and come back in a year and see how things went. Then I'd adjust things accordingly. Simple right? What could possibly go wrong?
I think you probably get what happened, but I'll explain it anyways. I essentially had NO IDEA the flow of time was usually different between universes. I didn't know I was supposed to chrono-lock my universe and the universe I was in together to preserve the flow of time between them. And I just so happened to take my year-long vacation to a universe that was REALLY slow compared to mine.
So I come back, 103 years later. There was a war, and this lady somehow consolidated everyone's power and is now acting as the goddess of my world (which I'm honestly fine with, I was never one to take an active role in my world). There's a cult worshiping me, using the hijacked power of one of my observation devices to shield themselves from the lady who made herself the goddess and doing terrible things in my name. Things kinda sucked.
And I'm sort of thinking things would be a lot better if I didn't accidentally spend 103 years of my world's time on vacation. So, AITA?

Here's the template made by @pepperonibread to describe your OC based on a songs that reminds you of it.
It's great to do this type of challenge with your OC, it really helps to develop the character and have more inspiration and more idea to improve it. With this builder I already wrote her whole story, but they're are some things to change. I love to write story or fanfic usually with at least 1000 words, but I'm not good enough in English to write the story of the builder 😂 Maybe I could do it by drawing ?
I still have to develop her story, but the base it that in the past she was living outside of the free cities, and has to leaves her town after being included as a scapegoat into major affair. The newspapers had expanded and she became famous not in the right way. The only thing she could do was to leaves everything, and came into the Free cities alliance, to Sandrock exactly, where she get kicked out the train because she has no ticket.
All she wants is to be forgotten by everyone and starts a new life, so come into sandrock is the perfect occasion.
Speaking of character, obviously she doesn't like Yan (like everyone) but she's also scared of Ernest, because he's a writer and journalist and maybe be will find one day a link between her and her past.
Anyway we don't care, I just wanted to do a video and put song's extract instead of just put picture of the album or something else. And btw I made a gif with my builder for the occasion xD (based on already existing gif)

9. What inspired you to write your first fic?
For my one-shots, I felt like exploring some rarely touched territory. The Tails/Amy one in particular, since I wanted to resolve Tails' controversial Lost World portrayal in a way that could make sense (and I didn't need to use the phrase Wildly Inconsistent in order to do it), since as a Tails fan, the period of fans constantly shitting on Tails - some even requesting that he be replaced or killed off - was not fun. So I guess you could say the Tails/Amy one-shot was me venting, but in a positive way lol.
As for BtS/Stellar, I'll admit that part of it was due to the "Fine, I'll do it myself" mentality when I grew fed up with how hard it is to find traditional Sonicy adventure stories that also retain Eggman as the undisputed main villain - even less that don't needlessly soften him up for the sake of "depth" - but mostly it was because I simply had all these ideas that I thought could be worth sharing, and I wanted to see if I could make a coherent story out of them.
It began in 2014 with the naked template of the character who would eventually become Trudy. Then I started thinking up what, in my mind, the ultimate Eggman Big Bad story would be like. Then I brainstormed the story themes involved, and the setting, and how the official cast would interact with the OC in a way that remained in-character for all of them, and it just kind of snowballed from there.
tl;dr: "All these ideas are exciting me, but no one else is gonna write it cause they're too busy writing OoC Sonamy/edgy Scourge/SA2 adaptation #500, so I better harness that Passion and Effort that fans always talk about".
13. Describe your writing style. If you were to participate in an anonymous fic writers guessing game (like The Masked Author), what writing habits do you have that would be a dead giveaway that it’s you?
If there's gameplay segments, the immediate giveaway would be that Gameplay Narration!Crusher is a lot more sassy than Story Narration!Crusher.
If not… well, as you've noticed for yourself, I'm fond of giving the readers as much of a perfect picture as I can when it comes to the locations. I try not to go overboard and drag it out, but I'm one of those guys that must describe the exact kind of scenery, architecture, sky, etc. "Can't you just say it's a sunset?" "NO, they might think it's just a basic orange sky, I HAVE to specify it's a purple that gradually fades into deep red from a distance!!!"
As for how I write the actual characters, one stipulation that I've been trying to impose on myself with Stellar is to be as economical as possible with the dialogue. They still say a fair amount mind you, since that's pretty unavoidable for a story that's in written fanfic form, but for the big dramatic moments and emotional scenes and whatnot, my intent is to focus on the characters' actions and subtle gestures first and foremost, with everything they do say being just the right amount to go along with it. I take a conversation, decide on the necessary exchanges and length, then add some additional character-enhancing flavor text afterwards to round it out.
This was brought about by the IDW cast's inability to shut the fuck up, with Sonic's wall of text to Surge being the final straw. It made me realise and appreciate how laconic the game cast is by comparison (...usually), so that made me want to try it out. Eggman is a slight exception for this rule, since being Eggman, I figure he can get away with hearing himself talk as much as he sees fit, though even with him, every inch of his dialogue is at least still relevant in some form or another, some cases more subtle than others.
14. Share a snippet.
(Note that there'll be some narration that breaks this up a bit during the actual story.)
Eggman: So being the generous gentleman that I am, I've given these ancient husks a second chance at life so they can have the freedom to carry out my pursuits. But I couldn't just leave them, could I? All that time spent from a bygone era surely must have left them scared and confused upon witnessing this brave new world! They could do something silly in their old age, like resist me! So to help them out in the modern day, I gave them a little… maintenance.

Hey! Hope you're enjoying the holidays:)
I think the way you've fleshed out characters like Dorcas, Marlene (and everyone in the marauder's era, to be honest) in your stories is really interesting considering that most of them are blank slates in canon. You made the characters your own, and I was curious to know your process. Marlene and Dorcas as they're portrayed in THTF are, in my opinion at least, your own original characters due to how deeply you fleshed them out and how human you made them. I'm trying to find better ways to flesh out my own characters and would love some tips. How do you go about fleshing out/creating characters? Do you have any templates you use or techniques?
hello!! i have very much been enjoying the holidays although i regretted that somewhat this morning lmao WORST hangover i have had in. months. possibly years. but i am mostly recovered now <3
and thank u so much!! so happy to hear that u liked my portrayals of dorcas + marlene -- ur definitely right that they're essentially ocs lmao. when it comes to fleshing out characters, i don't really have a set technique or any templates that i use, so i'm trying to figure out how to give tips...like, generally speaking i am not a very organized writer on paper and most of my process for anything is just. coming up with a centerpoint in my head and then building out around that, if that makes sense? like, there'll be something that initially sparks the idea for a story, and then it's just a long process of coming up with details that can get me to that point.
(ended up rambling on as i tried to explain this so putting the rest under a cut lmao. also spoilers, kinda)
like--okay, so with dorcas and marlene, the reason i was interested in their story was because canon left such a blank slate. so the initial spark for the story was seeing the hc that dorcas + marlene were together + dorcas went after voldemort after marlene died, and that's what got her killed. i was like wow that sounds like SUCH a fun tragedy! i wanna write a story where that happens. and so then it was like--okay, i basically need to sculpt two characters to fit into these narrative positions that i want to write.
and u guys know me, i want everything to be as angsty as possible. so i was like, trying to make two characters where i could include just as many heartbreaking details as possible in the story of how they come together. like it's a doomed love story, right? and so one of the first things i knew was that i wanted to have a setup where marlene joins the war despite dorcas trying to convince her not to, and then dorcas joins the war for marlene to try and keep her safe, so there's sort of this underlying resentment to their relationship that makes everything hurt so much worse when they both ultimately fail in what they were trying to do. that dynamic of somebody sacrificing something for a person they love and then resenting the person they love because of it is something that i find really compelling. so having all that in mind, i needed to think about what would motivate these characters and how they would think differently about the war and where they would be coming from, which was like the foundation of much of their personalities and details about them.
and then i also knew going into the story that i wanted to start off with like. a fun little enemies-to-lovers setup where they're in different houses and get forced to work together and end up falling for each other despite hating each other at first--so that was like, another foundation i was building off as i was deciding what houses they'd be in, who their friends would be, what about their personalities would make them clash in the beginning, etc. etc.
so...yeah, i guess my writing tip of what works for me is finding a centerpoint--something you want to have you character do, or a relationship dynamic u want ur character to have with someone else--and then building out from there! that is my usual strategy :)
#writing tips#i am sure there are other people who have MUCH better tips than me tho lmao#i've never like. studied creative writing in a formal setting so i know there are like certain techniques people will use but i simply#do not use any of them LMAO my technique is just ramble on and on to my sister#also daydream a lot#also i think i am just a person who has fun thinking about like. what drives characters and what shapes them#so i spend a lot of time doing that w my own characters and the details just kind of naturally follow!#anyway hopefully this is at least a little bit helpful?#but at the end of the day i think a lot of writing is just trial and error and finding what works best for you#thtf#the hand that feeds spoilers#ask

welcoming a long weekend ahead and hopefully get to contribute the Prologue from my first written fanfiction 🤞 so here's the last of my OC template for now:
Quick take on Beatrice Hayes
credits to @/iguanentapioca for this layout from Twitter
Color - Blue: for the simple reason that it calms her. Curiously enough, it's not exactly her favorite color at first as she initially associated with the ruby red of her birthstone, though she now finds it comfortably cozy to be surrounded by her chosen House colors.
Flower - Blue Larkspur: a flower associated from her birth month. In general, these tiny blooms on tall stalks symbolize dedication, sincerity, positivity, and an open heart. Though the colors of the different larkspur flowers also traditionally holds varying inherent symbolism, with blue larkspur flowers associated with grace and respectability. Plus yes, Beatrice has grown a soft spot for the color blue after all.
Animal - Long-eared owl: with feathers blending in the dark of night, as her vigilant green eyes watches over the Highlands, flying off to further explore the surrounding magical communities freely, as far as her wings could take her. Ironically enough, when long-eared owls come out to hunt, they're often heard rather than seen.
Scent - Toasted Mallows: not one who likes the cloying fragrances of artificially made perfumes, Beatrice mostly steers clear away from having a signature scent. That is until she started carrying a few handfuls of Mallowsweet leaves in her pockets, ever since she'd made it her personal mission to solve every Merlin Trial she'd come across in the Highlands. Combine it with the fiery spells she uses against the dark forces she usually encounters in her many adventures, she almost always leaves smelling just a tad bit sweeter. much to her chagrin
Song - Go The Distance (cover by annapatsu): on a personal take that I thought of this particular song when creating Beatrice's character because despite being aware that Magic exists, she's been left orphaned with no one to talk about it, long enough that she's blindsided with having to quickly adjust to the Wizarding World she's now been introduced to-- Down an unknown road to embrace my fate, when I go the distance, will I be right where I belong? And at the end of her 5th year, after all's been said and done-- to look beyond the glory is the hardest part, for a hero's strength is measured by their heart.
Feeling - cozy bed weather: she's strived for a better future since being orphaned at 11, and still continues to try to stay afloat starting school at a considerably older age in the Wizarding community. At the end of the day, Beatrice dreams of a time she could just stay in and enjoy a shred of peace, cozily tucked in as the cool weather gently lulls her into a dreamless sleep.
just love my baby B and previously made more on her Character Creation and Reference Sheet here 💙(´ε` )
