To be honest, I think they get closer and closer to being more "human" with each line of robots. Until in the future where they have reploids. I don't really know much about the X series so I won't comment on them.

But I think robot masters are already pretty close to human thinking. The way I see it, even Proto Man could comprehend traumatic events. So the literal prototype of robot masters could understand trauma and react to it already.

I think the way they process traumatic events is finding all the contradictions/changes it brings to their original understanding of things.

Like for example, originally Blues probably thought

"Dr Light would never purposely hurt me"

But after the "traumatic event", his original understanding is challenged because now he realises

"Dr Light is planning to do something that has a risk of erasing my whole identity"

So now his original understanding of Dr Light has to change because of this new information.

"Dr Light would never purposely hurt me"

⬇️

"Dr Light will do something that has a risk of hurting me"

With this new understanding, he acts on it accordingly. By running away to save himself. Then when he comes back and sees Rock and Roll, the same thing happens :D

"Dr Light misses me"

⬇️

"Dr Light has replaced me and doesn't need me anymore"

So basically, Dr Light's biggest mistake is allowing his robots to respond to events and act accordingly. Just kidding, they probably respond to all events like that.

I think they'd constantly be learning and understanding things more. The same process could apply to any other event. Like I dunno, if someone thought

"Leaning back on a chair doesn't have any bad consequences"

then event happens (the chair falls)

"Leaning back on a chair too much will make it fall :("

Just like how children experience the world and learn to understand things. So i suppose they process trauma just like how they'd process any other event. The difference is the impact on their understanding.

Like maybe Gemini man used to think,

"My clones are perfect, no one could ever overcome them!!"

Then event happens (Snake man exists and beats him)

Result? ⬇️

Gemini accepts that he isn't perfect? Hell no!

I don't think it would be that simple, the robots also have their own personalities and ways of interpreting things. For Gemini man specifically, his main takeaway from that situation is...

"Snakes = DANGER"

So, instead of learning that he isn't perfect, he just becomes scared of snakes. Amazing. He learnt basically nothing.

In conclusion, I think the way a robot processes trauma depends on their individual personality/experience. So, just like real humans, huh?

Dr Light was truly successful in making robots with consciousness, but maybe a little too well because tell me why the hell you need a mining robot with thoughts and feelings.

#I think they'd need ungodly amounts of storage and ram just to process anything #they're walking super computers #and I swear they need to have some kind of cooling system to keep themselves from exploding #just a fan is NOT enough #my headcanon is that they have both an air and water cooling system #which is why i like to draw vents on their designs somewhere #also i like to think there's a vent deeper in their mouths so it's kinda like they're exhaling air #Dr Light and his obsession with making humanlike robots...#also it'd be funny if their coolant was a deep red #so if they get damaged and it leaks it looks like blood #which fuels an in universe conspiracy theory that robot masters are actually human

ok I'm awake and a little more sentient. there is a whole lot of stuff I really really like about the episodes but I think my main disappointment right now is just that. viktor became the machine herald because of his own conviction. he forced himself to become stronger, specifically attempted to remove his own emotions because he felt they made him weak. but now this viktor just gets thrust into this situation, like the hexcore is just manipulating him to do whatever the fuck, he didn't even get to choose what he wanted because jayce chose it for him

#also not to mention #that as the machine herald he didn't want a cult lol #i always got the impression #that he wanted to help people #but he saw his followers as fools or something to use #this is not a slight on jayce by the way #because yes. i would be trying to save him too #it's just like #from that point i want to see him choose his destiny for himself #not just follow the hex core's whims #and i can't decide if they're going to make him a kind of good redeemable guy #or if they're eventually just going to make him comically evil #both outcomes. do not sit right with me #I'm still a little sleepy so sorry if this analysis is just straight up wrong #I'll probably be rewatching the episodes again to reform my opinion lol #there's still a lot of episodes left so I'm not totally out of hope yet but these are just my thoughts so far #the concept of him becoming 'the arcane herald' or something instead is still super cool and interesting to me #but..... my machine guy........ holds him close like that picture of jesus holding the baby lamb

Honestly I really want to be able to side with Solas in dreadwolf. I think it'd be super interesting to play as an elf in Tevinter and be able to just go "yeah actually I think Fen'Harel is right let's tear down that veil." I mean I assume the main conflict will be Solas trying to convince your character to join him, or your character being told they have to try and stop him, and there are not enough games that let you side with the presented "villain" character. I want to see what the world is like with no veil I'm so interested. Also so interested to see what full-on Fen'Harel Solas is like. Is he still as empathetic? Or is he more conniving and distanced from "mortals" like the old stories would have us believe?

#side note it's been a hot minute since I've played trespasser I've been obsessed with origins and anders and justice recently ok #i don't have super high hopes cause bioware sucks ass #Idk if they'll have the balls to introduce the player to that level of moral nuance #i just think it would be fun and cool to have some choices on the final outcome #*with the main villain character I should say #instead of 'player character who is awesome hero defeats evil mean bad guy'#i feel like the past games have always tried to paint a very clear target of who the 'bad guy' is #when in reality that's rarely ever so simple #i want a story that lets you decide if you actually think the bad guy is bad or not #and then lets you choose what to do about it instead of directing you to kill this one guy to save the day yknow?#and I think this would be a wonderful opportunity to explore that #and I mean we did get this is 2 if I'm honest #there's not really a singlular villain #you can choose if you think the mages or the Templars are right and side with one or the other #dragon age dreadwolf #fen'harel #solas dragon age #i just like complications in stories that make decisions very hard #make solas the players friend or something again make him seem like a person and not an evil mage entity bent on killing everyone #maybe I'm just tired of how often the writers have done moral gymnastics and tried to swap it around #to make it seem like actually the mages should all be locked away and treated like shit cause they're all egotistical maniacs #and that the Templar/mage issue is a both sides have a point thing when it is clearly not #maybe I just want them to direct us towards taking the side of the oppressed instead of the oppressors for once #Hope you enjoyed my longish rant I hide in the tags as usual
