it’s so funny that the pilot episode sets up dean as this Wild, balls to the walls horndog of a guy who’s pestering his neat and straight Stanford law younger bro. then you watch the rest of the show and you realize, oh, it’s the other way. because dean is a fucking DORK. he’s a bleeding heart romantic who likes kids and classic rock and driving with the windows down. sam, on the other hand, is a batshit fucking crazy blood-drunk lunatic who is ready to lay down his humanity, become monstrous and kill innocent people to keep his brother alive. it’s hilarious. they really had us convinced for a second there that sam is very Normal and Well-Adjusted only to rugby tackle us from the back with 15 seasons of fuckery.

When they get together, it’s almost like a project. Steve starts making a list of all the things Billy references, little stuff he says is stupid or that he says sucks. He has a particular way of saying it sometimes, with his eyes full of longing.

“I hate surprises,” Billy grouses, tugging at Steve’s hands.

“I know,” Steve says, uncovering Billy’s eyes.

The blanket fort is lit up from the inside with the TV, the blue blankets looking warm and inviting.

Billy eyes the whole thing with distrust, his shoulders falling. “What is this?”

“Just humor me. I got candy and popcorn and…” Steve hesitates, but presses on with his plan. “And they had an old birthday cake at the Albertsons.” Like he doesn’t even recall that Billy hasn’t had a birthday cake since his mom left.

Billy seems more confused than anything, but he allows Steve to tug him inside and wrap him in a blanket.

“What’s the movie?”

“Robin Hood.” Steve says lightly. Like he doesn’t remember the story about how Neil dragged him out of a Disney movie for asking to use the bathroom by his hair.

Trussed up in a soft blanket, lit up by the glow of the tv, Billy eyes Steve with amusement.

“I see what you’re doing, you know.”

Steve swallows, “I know.”

Billy glances down at the cake on a plate, then down to his hands. When he looks back at Steve there’s a glisten in his eye.

“Well then. Start it up, Bambi.”

Steve snuggles up next to Billy maybe a little too eagerly, piling Billy’s lap with treats. When he turns on the Christmas light he almost thinks it will be too much.

But then Billy kisses his temple. “Thank you, babe. You’re amazing.”

“I know,” Steve whispers.

zoro and sanji drive me insane because all i can think about is that they treat each other in a pretty exclusive way, and they’re so silly it’s ridiculous, but i bet it’s a real comfort in a way to turn to someone and know you can just fall into the familiar habit of teasing-provoking-fighting without it meaning anything other than what it actually is: you’re my friend, i respect you, i trust you, you’re as strong as me, i will definitely beat you. and i’m a sucker for bonds that run this deep because imagine you’ve been sailing for weeks and you need a way out, or imagine you’re deep into a serious situation — fighting enemies? tense context? — and you have someone you can rely upon/someone you can be silly with. i do think it’s very meaningful that zoro is petty and childish and insufferable and aggressive with sanji and viceversa but they never really act the same way with anybody else. it really is far from hate, it sucks that it’s perceived as such. they’re both very mature and emotionally intelligent guys, but they also rely on aggression more than anyone else on the crew: zoro has always been pretty direct and physical and straightforward, and sanji knows love in different ways (sora’s and zeff’s), and he carries heavy burdens, so it’s not really all that surprising to find that being aggressive towards men (especially those that are an active part of his life) ends up being part of his deal. so yeah, i can’t stand you and your face gets on my nerves and you’re my rival and i trust you to have my back and to protect everyone else if i’m not there, and i worry for you. bestie? :)

Teeth Clenched Teamwork

Haha, the sillies! Decided to draw these three! I had to start traditionally because my IPad broke a week ago (specifically my charger cable, sigh). I’ll *probably* make more simpler drawings for now.

Though it was nice drawing digitally with my phone (it’s still the same program but it’s the pocket edition)!

Anytime I think about Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel, I always get kind of breathless at just how poetic and ironic their careers have been.

They’ve always been kind of pitted against each other, a rivalry made out of nothing. Their careers are intertwined with one another. Hell, the whole narrative for Jack was always ‘how does it feel to be second place to Connor McDavid.’

That Connor’s always been the more successful one, and yet Jack was able to make it to greener pastures and win a cup, before McDavid. The guy who went second overall winning a cup before the Golden boy of Canada and the guy who went first overall.

Jack was able to get out of Buffalo, while Connor is still stuck in Edmonton, and is probably going to be stuck there for the rest of his career.

They both have something the other wants. And isn’t that just so ironic? These two players, who have always been pitted against one another, who seemed like polar opposites, and have polar opposite careers as of late, seem so similar? Like they’re one and the same? Isn’t that just funny?

I can’t stop thinking about how cosmically intertwined Roy and Jamie are. Like, the end of Roy’s career was pretty much the start of Jamie’s as we now know it. Roy finds ways to allow people space for what they need through him. They’re clearly two people who were destined to meet. Jamie is Roy’s continued legacy. Jamie’s successes bring Roy clarity. They only make each other better with every passing day & that just makes me feel like I’m being punted into the fucking air !!
