That viral post that's going around about how people who write "book quality" mlm fic are too "normal" to publish and have real jobs so only "weird" people publish their "shitty" fanfic is so completely out of touch with reality and I am giving a massive side eye to everyone reblogging it.

Not only is it completely, easily verifiably untrue (you cannot enter any professional writing space without tripping over a dozen grizzled scifi writers who got their start by filing off the serial numbers and publishing their Star Trek fanfic even going back decades ago??? it's a whole thing?? plus how can you look at the mlm category on Amazon right now and say with a straight face that people aren't publishing shitty Spirk and Stucky fanfic??? Oh, honey...) it's also the perfect example of this kind of sneering elitism that true artists would never sully themselves by seeking profit, they do it only for the purity of the thing that always somehow leads back to, "no one should be paid to make art, actually."

The only reason you're seeing more published fanfic right now has nothing to do with the idealistic purity of your hypothetical government employee written smut of the past vs the debased scribbles of those awful straights of today and everything to do with the fact that a) self-publishing has created a voracious readership that wants a ton of content so it's become a viable, flexible income stream for many, especially disabled people b) anyone can publish now with self-publishing tools so there are less gatekeepers and c) lockdown got a lot of people into fandom and therefore writing who never tried it before.

Valdangelo I love bc they’re my two favourite characters they’re both tiny traumatised orphaned autistics, and both metaphors for different ways of dealing with loss. I ship them platonically mostly, I just want them to be besties. Nico definitely recognises and relates to Leo’s sadness in ways none of the others can, and Leo’s not the type to try and heal or fix Nico’s sadness, he’d just listen and empathise. They are crying buddies. They sit five feet apart and not talk but just cry together and keep each other company.

There’s some Valgrace fanart/fanfiction that’s honestly SO CUTE I could die. I was a bit sceptical at first bc I definitely see Jason as the Token CisHet of the group, but I’m warming up to it more and more, and I’m even writing my own Valgrace fanfiction now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it in the books when Jason and Leo interact, particularly in tlh. Jason is the only one who sees through Leo’s mask (except maybe Annabeth), and makes an effort to remind him that he is a valued and respected member of the team, and that none of whatever went wrong is his fault and that he’s doing everything right. Leo never puts any expectations on Jason to be the Big Hero, and lets him just be Jason.

I think it's important to remember that homophobia and trasnphobia are just as shitty as heterophobia is shitty.

I have been a supporter of queer people for years and I will continue to be, but I often witness that queer people sometimes insult heteros from below. "Hah you are cis what do you understand" "ughh why are these stra8ts like this 😩" And when you tell them that they is making hate speech about it, they say that you are emotional or that they is playing the victim because you are hetero. But they do the opposite. They accuse you of homopfobi in everything, even in the most irrelevant issues. Especially this happens a lot in fandoms. If you ship a character with a woman, they put you in a ridiculous situation by attributing you with strange things, and they call you homophobic again from the bottom and call you "cis", that vile word again. I hate that word so much that I heard it was a term for pedophilia that a professor used to use in the past.

This kind of propaganda and toxicity has increased so much that I realized that now they want superiority rather than equality and awareness. And I think it's not just hetero people, but some queer people are also being discredited. An acquaintance of mine told me that her gay friend had thrown away the flag of honor in his home because of these toxicities, and that he no longer participated in activities, that he was now neutral on these issues and wanted to stay away.

There are two kinds of queers. One is wrong and one is normal. The unjust ones are the twitter addicts who insult and insult people. You have no right to call us cis (pedophile) just because of our biological sex or orientation. If we respect your choices and orientations, you have to do the same without discrimination.

If you think that because you are an LGBT person you have the right to insult someone's choices and sexuality, and that you are superior, you are wrong. We are all equal and human here.

I want to talk about fandom again. You've seen that a male character who is usually approved as straight and has a romantic relationship, you've seen him ship as gay in fandom and nobody says anything about it. But if you ship a gueer character with a woman, most people label you as homophobic.

I see this happening with Levi too. Even if he's not in a romantic relationship and his sexuality is not approved, if some people see him as queer, that's fine, but they bully people who see him as straight. That's why most people who send Levi with a woman are afraid to call him straight and they pan, bi, ace, him in their Hc.

Finally, do not insult anyone because of their sexual orientation. This includes heteros.

It's just really gross of you to say that the only reason that some people hc Levi as bi/pan/ace is because they're scared of being called homophobic. Do you even hear yourself? I also think it's really insidious of you to say that LGBTQ+ people can be divided into 'normal' and 'wrong'. This a very slippery slope of thinking. Ask yourself this. Do you really think that members of a minority or margnalised community has to fit a particular set of standards, set by the majority/privileged class, to deserve acknowledgement, acceptance and basic respect?

klaus- i mean, we all know this one. as far as i know he has been canonically (though not mentioned in show, more like an interview or something) pansexual and non-binary. if not then it’s VERY FANON. directly through the show, we see his attraction to men through dave and also his enjoyment of more feminine clothes and makeup and things like that. i hc him as genderqueer and just generally chilling out and not really caring too much about labels. like a “i’ll fuck you if you’re hot” kind of attitude.

five- now this one might get me some weirdness, but i don’t see five as a cishet man for my hc’ing purposes. a common fanon opinion is that he’s asexual, which i totally like. i also think he’s gay. i guess that would be homoromantic? and also agender. he said no. no. Uh oh, I got reminded TFGraves exist and I'm mentally ill and going to make it YOUR problem!! (Translation: I'm going to gosh about them)

They just mean so much to me? And they just feel soo?? Special?? And unique on a meta level as well? It's already one thing that they are a canonised mlm pairing because historically those ones tend to be more controversial because it tends to make cishet dudes (aka leagues main demographic) more uncomfortable because cant fetishise it (also yes they're not Technically "together" but idc its explicitly canon they have feelings for eachother). It's another that both are surprisingly developed and nuanced charaters (could go on for hours about how theyre both self destructive and have abandonment issues and repress their feelings in very different ways) that are morally ambiguous and have a complex and multifaceted relationship with eachother and yeah i know league lore is subject to retcons and having differet writers but idk. i think its impressive we got two nuanced developed queer male characters WITH A COMPLICATED AND DEVELOPED RELATIONSHIP WITH EACHOTHER in a game known for its bigotted player base. Another thing i fucking love about this ship is how the riot writers were like "what if we subverted some tropes and made the more flamboyant one implied pan and we made the traditionally masculine one, who highkey has toxic masculinity, gay". BUT ALSO HIS TOXIC MASCULINITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS QUEERNESS. like yes he cant express his feelings directly to save his life but the fact he's a gay man is completely not relevant to that and he's canonically had a bunch of ex boyfriends and is canonically a monsterfucker/hj. I'm not over how they took a pretty cishet masculine thing and made queer. Like the rough outlaw who hates talking about his feelings and is out for violent revenge on those who've wronged him..... except the guy who's "wronged" him is actually his best friend who he has mutual feelings for and also he fucks men. moving on to other thing i like about them is that the sheer range this ship has??? "that" being the fact a man thought he got abandoned by his best friend and got tortured and isolated in prison for 10 years and during those 10 years the only thing that kept him from killing himself was the sheer rage and want for vengence (towards someone he probably had repressed romantic feelings for) AND THEN WHEN HE GOT THE CHANCE TO KILL HIM, HE COULDNT BRING HIMSELF TO DO IT 💀 (im literally never going to be normal about that) and during those 10 years the other man actually got all of their mutual friends killed in an attempt to save him and the survivors guilt fucked him up so bad its implied he failed trying to drown himself so he changed his entire name and personhood instead to isolate himself from the soul crushing guilt of it. BUT DESPITE THAT ANGST, there's a surprising amount of domesticity and comfort with this ship??? No like you'd think these two would be friends to enemies to lovers BUT NO, theyre actually friends to enemies to friends to friends who are fucking pinning for eachother like crazy. Despite the angsty dynamic these two also have the best friends who have known eachother for ages and who everyone think is dating but both are oblivious or dont believe the other feels the same BUT THEY ALSO HAVE opposites attract bickering marriage couple who constantly tease and banter with eachother. like the range is crazy

I just wanted to say that I dislike shipping too. I wouldn't say I hate it but I am annoyed by how everything in fandoms focuses on it. Not just South Park, but all fandoms. Some ships I otherwise would find cute I end up disliking just because of all the "they care about each other too much to just be friends" comments. As an aro/ace person it really sucks to see people act like you can't fully care about someone unless it's romantic. Some ships like Kyman and Cartters are so uncomfortable because of the horrible things Cartman has done to both Kyle and Butters in the past and how some people try to romanticize things like Cartman literally raping Butters by including it in their compilations of "cute shippy moments". I'm not really sure where I'm going with this as it's becoming more of a rant, but I just wanted you to know you're not alone in not liking shipping.

And who the fuck agrees with that and keeps reading that shit?! And Carters is vile. Absolutely putrid-Butters has been through too much to be with someone like Cartman. He deserves better. Plus Cartman is like, a total dick to him and literally tried publicly humiliating butters numerous times and got away with it. And people use AWESOM-O as a way to be like ‘oh he just liked Butters!/ Like Butters literally almost died to save Cartman’s ass and Cartman only did it to take something from Butters. It’s not cute or ship fuel, it was Cartman being a sadistic , lying asshole and Butters being the victim.

Style and Bunny feel only platonic though. Namely because Kenny is the most cishet person in the show (minus cartman) and he really only got into a relationship because he wanted to get laid? And thinking about that kind of pairing with Butters of all kids just doesn’t sit right. Not to say Kenny only seeks out relationships for sex but that would be one of the primary things he would look for as shown in canon in The Ring. And Style kinda just feels mainly platonic. Like I have nothing against LGBTQ people. I really don’t, I’m in the community myself, but sometimes it feels like fandoms-not just this one, can’t let two friends of the same gender be just friends. It always has to be romantic. Which sometimes works, yes; but when it comes to South Park? I can’t see it. Maybe it’s a controversial opinion, but that’s just me and my stance. Again, I have nothing against gay people. I am bisexual myself and have some people who are very close to me who are in the community, I just feel like that’s what happens in most fandoms.

I always stay far away from m/f shippers (from any fandom) because they always sound so entitled. I saw one saying that the mc and his best friend (who clearly has romantic feelings for him) have more proof of their love because it sells but at the end of the day the MC will end up with the girl and they will win.

I don't even think it's like. An issue that's specific to the characters or the pairing. In a vacuum i would have probably felt entirely neutral about kaveh because he's not even an unlikeable character. If i lived in a cave and played the game without knowing what anyone else is doing in another lifetime maybe i would have even liked him. I don't harbor negative feelings towards the people who can be normal about liking a character but the thing is that he is literally just some guy. Like his Thing is that he's just some dude who's in his 30s and is kind hearted to a fault cause then he always gets scammed which in itself is like. A pretty funny/endearing character concept in itself. And i know that him being Just Some Guy makes him relatable to all manner of tormented young adults who are also Just Some Guy as well which is FINE. I get it. We are all some guy deep down. Because I saw a post that reminded me of it. Some of this applies to fandom but it also kind of applies at large too.

Shipping any MF pairing, no matter how queer you imagine them, is a game of dodging live fire. It’s like, “Are you shipping this because you think it’s fun or are you shipping this because you hate/dislike gay people?” because let me tell. It’s a game that has to be played. I would love to talk about this. I would also love for you to not think I shouldn’t exist. It also makes is potentially difficult to read things because they can be painfully CisHet. You can be Queer in a MF relationship in many ways! Maybe we should write those!

Any time I see sapphic/lesbian in a username or a lesbian pride flag I have to scan the blog. It’s not that I don’t trust people except that it’s also just that I don’t trust them. I’m sure there’s lots of lovely blogs out there that aren’t TERFS or Biphobic or a mix. But, there’s also a lot of blogs that are and they’re vocal. It again comes down to be I’d like to not interact with things made by people who think I shouldn’t exist or am just a “confused woman”.
