Anyone else feel like season 7 is slowly pushing you away from The Rookie? Or at least The Rookie fandom?

The show is still… fine. But I wouldn’t have joined a fandom for the show they’re showing now. I wouldn’t have looked for and discovered the world of fanfiction. I definitely would NOT have made writing a hobby of mine. It’s just another show. Another show with a disappointing love story.

A trip down memory lane! Though the tower seems to have changed…

Celestial tower! Built during the direct aftermath of the Founding Unovan Civil War, it remains a cultural landmark in memory of those lost in the fire and storm.

Time has dulled the scars left behind by the twin dragons. Today, the tower is primarily used as a mausoleum (the preferred method of burial are urns) and, well, a tourism site. Legend says if you climb to the top of the tower and ring the bell, you can lay your ghosts to rest. But mostly? You can ring a GIANT bell.

Course, you gotta GET to that bell first.

Bucky was always a little jealous of the attention Kristen got, until she leaves.

After she leaves he realises, oh, she hasn't slept alone in bed since Bricker was five because either he or Cork would crawl into her bed when they had nightmares. And she had to hold off on healing herself sometimes because -3 dex runs in the family and she had save spell energy for if Cork tripped and fell down the stairs again. And wow did he never realise just how hard it was to take verses from the Corn Bible and use them to stop their parents going on and on until their shouting at Bricker for something Bucky knows he tried in the past and Kristen came to his defence.

The Real Rocky Port Incident

Absolutely stunning art commissioned from @namaeekaki that brought to life my personal headcanon about the Rocky Port Incident that Law became known for.

It's not the bullshit Oda decided. It's Law finally getting bloody vengeance on someone who truly wronged him: the survivors of the Flevance Royal Family whom the World Government had spirited away before the genocide. Law tracked them down to where they had been living on a small island as reclusive nobility: Rocky Port. He and the Heart Pirates incited a riot in the town as a distraction, which the Navy (led by Koby) had to quell, leaving the royal family alone and defenseless, just as Law planned. This allowed him to take his time, torturing them and relishing their screams, even allowing his hands to get bloody on behalf of his family, neighbors, and the innocence he lost due to their and the World Government's selfishness. He killed the king, prince, and princess, leaving their bodies for the Marines to find later with the intent of sending the World Government a message:

You can't hide your dirty little secrets forever. Especially not from me.

I know that actors do sometimes have real-life feelings or relationships with their co-stars, but some YouTube comments I've seen make it seem like some people don't even believe in the CONCEPT of acting, haha. "You can't fake that!" I mean, maybe YOU can't, but I assure you, people can and do fake that. Successfully. Some people are even so good at faking it that we PAY them to do it.

just. satosugu and the confrontation post spv and how fast satoru’s stomach must have dropped, when suguru called him arrogant. because he must be used to hearing that word, the way it’s thrown at him as an accusation, how people use it to try and tear him down. and it’s probably never worked before; satoru has probably never really seen himself as arrogant, not when there’s such an inherent lack of logic to being so, not when everything he does makes him exactly as strong as he thinks he is. but this is suguru, talking, the one person who’s supposed to match him, who’s supposed to be just as strong as he is. suguru, the person he trusts to tell him the difference between right and wrong. and i doubt satoru really understood the gravity of the gap between them until that very moment; until suguru, who has always known him best, is spitting out arrogant like it’s a curse, like he’s trying to curse him.

every day i wish there had been a better solution for the qin su marriage problem.

in my fix-it fics i either have some other sect leader claim that he was actually madly in love with her this whole time and sweep her away for jgy's sake, have her mom confess earlier, make jgy decide to tell her for her own good and have them work together, or not give them a chance to meet and fall in love in the first place (i guess i could also make qin su have a miscarriage, but that's really sad and awful and not my preferred option at all), but all of those require tweaks to the circumstances, sometimes early on so they don't meet or jgy feels safe enough to talk with her or another confidant, or sometimes later like madam qin finding out they're pregnant before the marriage prep is too far along and telling one or both of them right away so they can make other arrangements.

with the situation being what it was, jgy didn't find out soon enough to do anything that wouldn't involve either marrying her anyway (and he didn't think telling her about it would do anything except make her upset and depressed) or leaving her essentially a ruined woman with no prospects and an illegitimate child who would inevitably grow up fatherless, which is pretty much exactly what his dad did to meng shi. this would be a crueler option than pretty much anything else, and given that he clearly still cares about her, he couldn't do that in good conscience. jgy tries his best to protect the people he loves, unless there is literally no other way for him to survive.

it's one more example of jgy being faced with a situation where the only choices are bad ones, and making the decision that he thinks will hurt the fewest number of people. metatextually, it's one more example of women in fiction being shoved aside and not given agency in their own lives, and getting killed off instead of surviving and growing as people like the male characters are allowed to do. it's just a tragic situation all around and i wish there had been something they could have done.
