Oh god okay now I’m imagining this:

Alt!Tim sees they replaced him with JJ!Tim (and they’re secretly trying to de-JJ him if they can). He gets insanely jealous. So he goes to the one person in his family who knows what it’s like to come back from the Pits only to find you’ve been replaced:

Jason Todd.

Cue Jason trying to convince Alt!Tim that they were trying to save JJ because they failed to save Alt!Tim and miss him so much that this was the next best thing, but he’s no replacement for the real deal. (Also maybe Jason realizing ‘hey is this how they felt about me-“ in there.) Tim won’t hear it. He decides to get vengeance. But also, he loves his family a lot, so the first thing he does is concoct a cure for JJ and give it to Jason. If they want a Tim so bad they may as well have a Tim not a JJ. After that, he sets his plan into motion.

Insert Tim getting up to shenanigans. He starts taking down villains from the shadows and using the remnants of their organizations to take down other organizations by framing the second group for destroying the first. He creates basically a massive shell game where no one can tell which group attacked who first but now there’s like 7 fragmented villain groups too busy being at war with each other to attack the heroes or innocent civilians. The heroes are dumbfounded.

Jason knows what Tim’s mindset is, though. “If you can’t join them, be better at their jobs in a slightly more evil way than them.” It was the same as him fresh out of the Pit. So he grabs a cured JJ!Tim (who is horrified by his past and trying to recover and repent) and the two work through Alt!Tim’s mindset together to try to figure out his next move. And they do. They find him, and JJ!Tim has a heart to heart with Alt!Tim, thanking him for saving him and apologizing for taking his place, offering to go home and let Alt!Tim have his life back if that’s what he wants.

Alt!Tim isn’t really sure what he wants anymore, though. Does he really want to go back to the family who chose to fill the void of their loss with a broken copy of him?

So the Joker finds the alternate universe Damian so JJ just- kills him right?? And then Damians bats come to get him and all that but WJAT IF instead of them going back to their dimension JJ sees these other people he vaguley recognizes and decides "fuck it. Im keeping them ALL."

So he does. And it doesnt matter that most of these guys are older than him, he treats them almost exactly like he does with Damian. (Except for bruce. Junior doesnt know what to do with bruce) JJ doesnt give two shits

And like- all the bats are weirded out because what????? Who is this mini joker??? And then they find out its a version of TIM. So they just...kidnap him back. Its bonus points because they dint have a Tim (anymore [i decided that because angst and yes. {id imagine their tim died from the widdower on Brucequest or smth along those lines but the evidence he collected still got sent back? Who knows. Deff not me}])

So its like a win-win for everyone involved!!! Tim JJ gets the bats back (even if he doent really recognize them) and the bats get a Tim back!!

We'll refer to one Tim as Alt!Tim and the other as JJ!Tim (or JJ) for simplicity sake.

Alt!Tim was never caught by Dick when Ra's kicked him out of a window. Dick was right there, mere centimeters away, but Tim slipped right through his fingers.

Dick was forced to watch as another one of his family members fell to his death.

It's not the sound of bones impacting cement that haunts him so, nor the sight of his baby brother hitting the ground from over 80 stories tall.

No. It's the look of contentment, the small reassuring smile, the instant forgiveness, and the relief that poured from Tim's body when he noticed Dick was trying but would fail to catch him.

Tim dying at this time, when he still hasn't repaired any of his relationships with his family, absolutely obliterates the remaining Bats. They either feel guilt for how they treated him, for not being there for him, or for what he sacrificed for them.

[Whether or not Ra's scraped his body off of the ground and lugs his corpse to a Pit only to brainwash and hide him from the Bats is a separate storyline. In this case, Tim, who finally manages to escape, realizes that his Bats (and Tim is mentally not well. He's kind of obsessive post-Pit) are gone. Alt!Tim goes to track them down only to find them chumming it up with another version of him :) ]

JJ is also obsessive with the Bats. These newcomers are all his younger siblings (minus Bruce), and he will not let them go. The Bats, who miss Tim/feel guilty and desperately want him back, are also super obsessed with Tim. It kinds of works out for them.

Been meaning to say something about Blitz's phrasing. He puts the last few full moons, where they didn't see each other, on his own shoulders. "Skipping a few rounds with you". Stolas was the one saying "you don't have to come this time", which Blitz has previously been shown to interpret as Stolas telling him not to come over.

Doesn't matter that Stolas was trying to put the ball in Blitz's court and them not seeing each other was both of their faults: Blitz thinks Stolas was telling him not to come over, but when faced with the prospect of losing Stolas forever, Blitz doesn't even hesitate to pretend like it was all 100% his own fault.

The man wants to be responsible for everything that goes bad always. He doesn't want to blame others. He can't conceive of something going wrong and it not (100%) being his fault. He's going to outwardly lash out and bitch about others fucking shit up, but we all know he lives his life masking, he lashes out at others because he thinks he himself is the root of all evil and he absolutely does not want to have a conversation about that.

...talking about your anxieties puts them in perspective and can help ease them.... he doesn't think he deserves those anxieties to be soothed...

“Magdeline is old,” Obi-Wan’s eyes cut away, fall to the space between their hands. Good, Anakin thinks viciously, he should find it hard to look at him. “She should not have to go back to Coruscant. Not ever again in her lifetime. If her name is drawn—” “Then you will let it be!” Anakin rounds the corners of the counter, unthinkingly fast. He clasps his hand around Obi-Wan’s shoulder, squeezing the fine fabric that Coruscant has dressed him in tightly. “Why would you volunteer for them, Obi-Wan? They have never volunteered for you.”

“The actions of others do not control my own, Anakin,” Obi-Wan snaps, pushing him away, freeing himself from his grasp. “I will volunteer to serve as master and mentor, as I am the most suitable to be victor—” Anakin grinds his teeth together, pushing himself back into Obi-Wan’s space, pinning him against the counter. “You would do that to me?” he asks, low, voice a dark growl in his throat. Obi-Wan has styled his hair carefully, slicked it back and trimmed his beard. Anakin touches the lines of his beard, ghosts over the glossy locks before shoving his fingers into it, messing up the tidy strands. “You would take yourself away from me, for months more?”

“The Games will last no more than a fortnight,” Obi-Wan murmurs, keeping his back straight, unwilling to melt into Anakin’s touch. “I will be back on Stewjoni soil before the leaves turn gold.”

“You will be parsecs away from me until the spring,” Anakin replies, and he gentles his hold, smooths over the mess of Obi-Wan’s bangs and slots himself up against him. Not fighting, not pushing. Pressing, coaxing. “Your body will be here, but your mind will not. Do not pretend as if you do not know what I am talking about.”

Obi-Wan’s mouth falls open, a flash of red as he wets his bottom lip and looks away. Of course he knows what Anakin means. The years that he must go to Coruscant, the years that he is made master of two children who are destined to die bloody and screaming, those years haunt him in his eyes. It is the price he pays as a victor—it is not just his Games that haunts him. It is every Game he has ever been made to watch, to participate in even from the sidelines.

And he may be willing to pay that price so that his other victors may live without it, but Anakin will not allow the same.

i just made myself even more unwell if you can even believe it lol. because seeing the kraken ring on ed’s finger made me think of symbolism and subsequent scenarios.

because, costuming plays a big role in the show of course. it shows what’s going on with the characters, even when said characters are not explicitly stating those themes. ie, the floral robe representing stede bringing more vibrancy into ed’s life, the purple representing ed falling in love, etc etc.

so what if like, the kraken ring hangs around to represent a lingering bit of fear and uncertainty within ed. even as he begins to heal—made evident, again, through costume/makeup with the reveal of his face, the tie-back of his hair, etc etc—it remains to show that he still has bits of pain present.

and what if there’s a significant scene where it too, is replaced with something closer to himself.

what if it’s eventually replaced by something like, say, an engagement ring from stede

I want to preface this post by saying that I love the cat king as a character, especially one that has such a major impact on Edwin and his relationship with his queerness and learning to be okay with it; HOWEVER, I also believe that everyone that genuinely believes he should be a love interest for Edwin should read this. (Also if you just like the cat king as a character and want to understand his character better and why his and Edwin’s relationship is not something that would be healthy or “real” for either)

Thinking about how Duncan was already fairly emotionally closed off and resistant to being vulnerable and/or perceived as weak by the people around him- which is a lot of what fuelled his "bad boy" persona- and how his relationship with Courtney would've cemented the idea that he really is an irredeemable, unlovable person since all she ever tried to do was change and "fix" him, so he'd only close himself off more as a result.
