guysss i rescued my abyss saves from my ps3!!!

i already had them backed up to an sd card before the console died thankfully but i wasn't sure they were usable elsewhere,, and tbh it wasn't an entirely straightforward process but they're now on my physical PS2 memcard and totally playable ✨✨

sooo when i get to abyss in my tales play queue i can actually finish a ng+ for once sjxkd

#for those interested in the process:#files were .psv which is like a package of a folder?? basically not usable #had to hunt down a converter from a broken website (yay waybackmachine) and convert them back to the folders of files that ps2 uses #but!!!! i still had to get them onto the memory card #so i burned freedvdboot with the ulaunchelf file manager onto a dvd+r i still had (the last one..)#luckily it worked first try ✨✨#then it was a matter of booting that on ps2 with the save files on a fat32 thumb drive plugged in as well #and wowow!!! copy + psupaste onto the memory card and ive got working save files babyyyy #of course i actually figured this out through trial and error of being like hmmm can i just copy the files as-is??#they dont look right tho......#much internet searching later and thats when i figured out i had to extract them lol #ive got my ps1 saves ready as well for when that pesky ps1 memory card arrives..... then i should be all good :D #jay yells #but yeah not terribly easy considering all the things i used to do it

I feel like there's quite a few different things that could work in that scenario #he has wit in terms of smarts & snark & whimsy. he was part of a movement that opposed tyranny and valued freedom. back then he wanted #to protect innocents. he's charismatic and good w/ people. he was a loyal friend to solas and later on was loyal to briala. he's calm and #level-headed. steady. a slow arrow makes its way to its target/goal slowly but steadily and you dont see it coming #Wit.. Loyalty.. Friendship.. Freedom.. Steadfastness.. Charm.. Protection.. Resolve.. Duty #my personal hc atm tho is- if he was- Guidance ◕‿◕. “'I kindled nothing' Felassan said. [...] 'I merely offered guidance.'"#he spent the rebellion guiding an army as a General and giving Solas guidance on how to be a good leader interact w/ people be the face #of a rebellion and to stay on the right path as one of his advisors. later he was Briala's hahren/elder giving her guidance through TME #he signs codexes like ask for the slow arrow and i will help/guide you. he was looking after those of flesh and fade in the lighthouse #guidance can be given from both a second-in-command (subordinate) role and from a superior (elder to mentee) role #when we see him in a memory Solas welcomes the spirits in elven then says “lasa ghilan” which means grant/give guidance #and the very next thing that happens is that Felassan speaks. an Arrow gives direction. it POINTS THE WAY..

really an inexplicable train of thought but i feel like taako is the kind of person who in a modren era au would just decide to go to a shooting range and learn how to shoot a pistol for funsies, but would consider learning to spin the pistol all cool like they do in cowboy movies to be his first and foremost priority. like hes already bought a holster and the moment he is given a gun he immediately starts trying to twirl it. the instructor has to tell him to stop or theyll take the gun away from him. he keeps trying to lead the conversation back to it anyway because he really feels like theyre putting the cart before the horse here if hes learning how to shoot the gun before even knowing how to dramatically reholster it if he were to get in some sort of cowboy duel. hes actually really good at the shooting part but he gets kicked out of the class after his eighth guntwirling attempt in which he accidentally flicks the safety off mid twirl and shoots one of their light fixtures

#taz balance #taz taako #i dont know shit abt guns so i had to google a bunch of stuff to see if this even made sense #'surely they would have taken the gun away from him before attempt number 8' ok see heres how im imagining the timeline #moment he is given the gun he gets in two twirl attempts right off the bat before the instructor manages to stop him #attempts number 3-5 are done in a 6 second window in which the instructor makes the mistake of turning around and not looking at him #he is then told he needs to take this seriously and they can and will remove him from the range if necessary #attempt 6 he just does on instinct and hes like cmahn you cant count that one i didnt even mean to do it. did you see it tho it was rad #he is then told if he does it again he will be kicked out #youll never believe this but he does it again #the instructor tries to take the gun from him and he decides it is a really smart and good idea to back up into the main area #ie the area where not everything is made to be safe to shoot and there are light fixtures and people in there #and try to twirl the gun yet a fucking gain . which is the attempt where he shoots out a ceiling light #to be fair he is just a silly little guy

"so what did you do this summer?"

i. uh. I recreated the ending cutscene of half life alyx as a visual novel in ren'py ....

it was a really cool project through! I learned a lot and am really proud of the result! I even made the G-Man sprites in S2FM (by playing his in-game animations frame by frame and rendering some stills I liked haha)
