okay so I've gotten back into nier / drakengard after a while (currently playing replicant and watched a 6 hour lore video lmao)

... and it turns out in Drakengard 3 there's a character who observes timelines and has the ability to teleport and multiply herself and carries a suitcase around??

First artwork in what I hope to be a series of pictures depicting the G-Man sightings but with my OC present (his wife).

Starting with the games that only have one sighting each; Uplink, Blue Shift and Decay. I will then move onto HL1, OP4 and HL2+Episodes.

Uplink was sort of a demo, so I drew this one first. Gordon is meant to be getting fried by the Gargantua's beam.

random ramble but something i find really interesting about gman’s “heart-to-heart” speech in hl2 ep2 is that one of the locations he takes you to is a total remake of black mesa’s facility entrance.

This is the only time we see Black Mesa in HL2 (NOT counting the test chamber in the beginning sequence of HL2 for this because they just took the chamber straight out of HL1 and didn’t redo the map like they did here) and I think its really interesting how they redid this section.

BEFORE MY RAMBLE THOUGH, I’ve seen people say that this is actually Dr. Breen’s office, not the entrance in the image above. I disagree! G-man has always brought the player to locations we’ve previously visited/seen or are yet to visit/see. Since Black Mesa was reduced to nuclear rubble 20 years before the events of HL2, I don’t think we’ll be visiting or seeing Breen’s office in HL3. Also, there’s too many similarities to the HL1 entrance for it to be a coincidence.

The ceiling is completely different from the original in HL1. It feels like it’s closing down on you, it uses the same textures from the Citadel and the same sharp, hostile architecture. They could’ve gone for the same ceiling in HL1, but they didn’t. Considering the EP2 team was on a massive time crunch, surely it would’ve been easier to just make it a flat ceiling? Or maybe it was an attempt to make the ceiling look more interesting. Who knows!!

There’s no vent on the right-hand side for Gordon to crawl into after the Resonance Cascade. The only visible vent in this image is the one on the top right. They could’ve used the same breakable-vent model that’s spread all over HL2, but instead they made an entirely new vent (not a new model, but a new placement) on the upper-right wall. Though maybe those two parallel lines of vent-looking things are actually vents (though they look a little too off to be vents imo) and I'm just nit-picking. Or maybe the new canon for this section is that Gordon had to get a ladder to climb up to this vent to continue (/j).

Instead of a rounded desk, they completely changed shape of it. It looks more corporate, sharper. I can’t recall this desk being used previously in HL2 (BUT I could be completely wrong about this please tell me if I am), so I'm really curious as to why the desk was remade this way. I personally think the most likely answer for this is; G-man would look ridiculous behind it. It might also clash with all the sharper architecture and harsh lighting. This new desk feels more intimidating, like you’re being called up to the principal’s office or HR (And I think that’s the pretty much the point here. Up until this moment, you think you’ve finally escaped G-man’s grasp. You think you’re finally in control of your life. Only to be suddenly ripped away from an incredibly important moment by your employer that wants to remind you that you’re STILL under his thumb and you’re STILL his employee.).

The dead monitors (TVs?) on the left feel so eerie (I mean, honestly this Black Mesa remake as a whole feels very eerie and off-putting). You know Black Mesa has been blown to bits, you know it’s been gone for at least 20 years now. Yet the only thing that’s really dead and gone in this image are the monitors. Not even during the Cascade are they completely black. It shows that the facility is totally lifeless (aside from the bright light on the right for ✨dramatic lighting✨). G-man is showing you a husk. A dead, haunted memory (though this memory was only a week ago for you). The only monitor that “works” is the massive one behind G-man. It shows that he’s in control, that he’s the one who pulls each and every string in this dimension that holds a lifeless copy of Black Mesa. The facility that you spent years in, countless hours and sleepless nights for, is now just a playground to the G-man. Just a background. He could bring you here any time he wanted, and take you out of it at any second. Your life isn’t as permanent as it used to be.

or maybe this “remade section of black mesa” is a completely different part of the facility and im overanalyzing this at 1 in the morning lmao. IDK i just think this scene is really awesome 😚

BONUS: I also think it’s super cool that this section was remade and repurposed in Entropy Zero 2! Highly recommend playing it if you haven’t already!! There’s other cool sections that get repurposed like this in the mod 🥳 (yes this is partially an attempt to get more people to play EZ2 OOooo *wiggles my fingers hypnotically* you wanna download this mod sooooo baddd ooOOoo)

yeah. no lungs = no lung cancer! and tbh he does look sexy with a cigarette

besides smoking and drinking occasionally? working too much, being super secretive, barely opening up about his emotions and his work ... oh and time traveling so much he gets a bit confused about which timeline he's in and which events already happened and which are still to happen. or which don't happen at all because he's in a different timeline. only happens when he's really overworked though

🎭 does your f/o bottle their anger?

yep. if you can't read his body language (tense posture [even more tense than usual], glowing eyes flickering a bit) you wouldn't even know he's angry. once things start floating telekinetically or the air grows colder he's barely holding it in. and if he does let it out? let's just say a human is nothing against the wrath of a god

I mean given that he's together with ME of all ppl he's gotta have the patience of a saint lmao

jokes aside G is really one of the most patient beings ever... comes with the job I suppose
