Grace and the Lords in Black: an analysis.

Okay, so, this may be obvious; although I haven’t seen anyone mention this as of yet. The link between Grace Chastity and the Lords in Black is clear, I mean we’ve all agreed that she seems to be like that, and Dirty Dudes must Die highlights her “corruption” plainly.

That being said! I think there may be more.

Firstly, the Lords in Black mention/talk to Grace first, before Peter and Stephanie (the arguable proper protagonists of this story).

Sure, Blinky’s motif is obvious, it’s of eyes, of watching and of observation. But to speak to Grace first, even if it seems (on the surface level) that it’s just to flex their omniscience and make her uncomfortable, is a little strange. Especially since they then speak mostly (only) to Steph for the rest of the song [The Summoning].

Secondly, because if that were all this wouldn’t be a very good analysis, we have her (Grace) and Nibbly being echoes of eachother.

“Swallow” and “devour” are synonymous. Both fit into Nibbly’s motif of consumption. Now, Grace could’ve said anything. Absorb, harness, control etc. I think the wording here is particular. Not exactly the same, but clearly within the same ball park.

What is exactly the same though, is Grace Chastity and Wiggly.

This may seem a bit out of left field at first, but hear me out.

In The Summoning, it is said that “Wiggly wants his Wrath”, Wrath is a vice, a sin. It may not be the exact opposite of Chastity, however Chastity is to do with restraint, whereas Wrath is very much, not so. Moreover, Wrath can be defined as ‘a great anger that expresses itself in a desire to punish someone’. Now… who else could be described as wrathful? Obviously Max. And Grace. I mean, her song is called Dirty Dudes must Die. As well as being a direct reflection of Max, it implies that she wants to harm someone. Punish someone though? Well, yes. Grace says “This is the consequence of what you’ve done!” - she must believe that death is a worthy punishment for their actions (being ‘pervs’). Thus, Wrath.

Lastly, and this is where the exactly comes in, Grace and Wiggly both say the same things. (Again, of course, I could write another analysis on how Grace and Max reflect each other beautifully by also saying the same/extremely similar things) The difference between Grace saying similar things to Max, is that she and Wiggly aren’t similar. It’s the same.

Example A) Stephy / Stephie.

Upon rewatching Nerdy Prudes Must Die and listening to the album on repeat, I noticed that no one bar these two call Stephanie: Stephie. I know Grace calls Ruth, Ruthy and Peter, Petey- so her calling Stephanie, Stephie, makes sense linguistically. That doesn’t take from the fact that Wiggly is the only other ‘person’ to use that particular moniker.

Example B) “bloody bits”

A particularly strange phrase that these two say. However, not really. The point of this analysis is to point out the links between the Lords in Black and Grace Chastity, specifically Wiggly and Grace. By pointing out the parallels in their idiolects, I have come to the conclusion that they are not only linked but INCREDIBLY similar.

Both are characters that use cutesy, almost childish language (“mommy spot” / “belly-well”) to disguise the violence, the wrath that lays beneath the surface. Wiggly (as shown in Black Friday) uses it as a facade. Throughout Black Friday and throughout The Summoning, he expresses himself as non-threatening (“We’re all pally-wals.” etc) before eventually showing what’s beneath the surface (“..deck the fucking halls!” / “We don’t give a shit about your phone!”). Both times are as abrupt as each other, showing that Wiggly has a fairly short temper. Grace doesn’t necessarily have a short temper, instead she has periods of ‘sin’, when stressed: Dirty Girl, calling “God a son of a B-Word”, smoking (after), having sex with Max, the scene of her ordering hot water etc etc. The visage, her carefully constructed facade, slips. Wether it’s because deep down she doesn’t believe in God (possibly shown in her “are you religious?” conversation with Shapiro), or that due to her upbringing she’s being confined, restrained, controlled, and this is when her ‘true self’ begins to peer through the cracks.

Either way, these are two characters who use similar themes (one of childishness, the other of purity/innocence (which can also be linked to childishness)) to cover their violence, their real selves.

Noa really gasted all my flabbers.

Before this chapter (278), I knew that he is the World's Best Striker, but after this chapter (278), I can see why he is the World's Best Striker. He is literally him. It's like looking at some kind of genius mastermind of some sort. The "Instead of assisting my teammates to win 1-0, it feels better to pull off a hat trick and lose 3-4" makes so, so much more sense now!

I won't lie, till now, his character did seem pretty bland to me—just some dude established as someone at the top of the game who was, in the end, going to adopt the protagonist in some way and then the sappy ending of student winning over the mentor.

Oh boy was I wrong.

The curveball he just threw at me, hurled me outta this universe. And just like in Loki's case, I feel like a fool once again since I have misunderstood Noa's whole character.

Firstly:

You know how some things just stand out for no reasons at all? Like, it's a trivial thing, but it just keeps on silently scratching the back of your head—the above panel happened to be that exact thing for me. My dumb ahh was really thinking, "Tf they talking about?" when I first saw this panel.

Before this small exchange, Noa was taking about how there are two philosophies in BM—and it depicted Kaiser and Isagi in the opposite of eachother—and this is exactly when, according to me, the whole Kaiser Vs Isagi rivalry's roots got firmly cemented. Yes, I do understand this rivalry started when Kaiser grabbed Isagi by his chin, but hear me out, okay?

Yes. Exactly.

We were told that BM's basic principle is Logic and Rationality, and considering Noa's personality, one can assume that Blue Lock-ers in this team would've been coerced into following this motto too, but Noa didn't do remotely anything like that. In fact, in all the other NEL teams, the coaches low-key molded the Blue Lock-ers to their respective mottos whereas Noa remained hands-off throughout everything—one of the main reasons why the majority of the Fandom considered him the worst coach in NEL.

But, well, I used to use this (above) reason to defend him—that he isn't tampering with Blue Lockers' originalities by letting them do things on their own accords just like Ego used to do.

Keyword: I used to.

Because I really don't know what to feel now that I've a whole different perspective in my hands—look at this:

Kaiser was, in a way, already competing against Noa in BM, and now Isagi was added into the equation too which made him more hostile. I mean, instead of disregarding the rather, comparatively, un-rational philosophy of the Blue Lock-ers, Noa was accepting it and giving it room to grow! And if this philosophy won, then Kaiser (not in a literal sense) would be wiped off of the team! Further, it also seems like a small jab of, "You think you are the shit? Then prove yourself." which Kaiser was able to sense, and that's why, I think, he asked, "Are you testing me?"

Secondly:

LMFAO LAVINHO'S FACE! THIS IS MY FAV PANEL OF HIM!

I highly admired Noa for never stepping in the field until and unless the opposite team's coach had stepped in. It used to be my favourite argument for defending Noa's coaching ability. And just like my previous point, I can't look at this the same way anymore.

Of course, he isn't wrong—the coaches stepping in definitely throws off the balance in the field. But, well, if the power dynamics shift too abruptly and too much, it would tip off Kaiser and that'd ruin Noa's plan for the NEL—it would also tip off Isagi which would also ruin Noa's plan for the NEL.

So, in short and straightforward words, he always stepped in the field for the sake of himself and not for the sake of younger players in his team.

Thirdly:

This convo happened after Shidou's goal—PxG's first goal in their match with BM.

Right after these words left Loki's mouth, Noa went out to make changes in the positions of BM—he went out to suggest things and all just like an actual coach would do. And though this panel stood out to me in an odd way, I also remember finding it so damn hilarious for him, seemingly, being threatened by a mere 17 year old—I was actually going to make fun of him for this when this chapter (253) came out, but then I guess I chose to do otherwise.

I think it's because before this chapter (253) dropped, I was going to make a wholesome post about the possible relation between Noa and Loki since they are from the same national team—some kind of Father-Son relation. But then the I saw their convo and felt embarrassed, and probably decided to not talk about them till more of their story got revealed.

Now their convo makes a lot of sense in a different way.

And lastly:

I remember being caught so off guard by this. Like, till that point, Noa had never ever talked regarding Kaiser in such a way—it nearly felt as if he were rooting for him, and I found it so sweet that I even included it here.

But now that we have a bigger picture, it doesn't seem that much sweet to me anymore.

I can't understand how I dismissed his poker face in the (above) panel as simply his usual emotionless self when it clearly looks like he isn't surprised at all—like he knew what was unfolding in front of him beforehand, like he was expecting it and.. he was quite literally expecting it, didn't he?

All this time I thought that Loki was the sneakiest about his personal goals in NEL meanwhile Noa was two steps ahead from the start.

Moments later, Katie and Leah arrived. Leah took the spot next to me on the couch, and Katie sat next to Steph on the opposite portion of the couch.

“ I think we should all relax a little bit.” Said Caitlain with a smile on her face. And with that the whole room calmed down a little.

“Yeah I don't know why we are nervous, you and I, we have done this many times before.” Said Katie, pointing at Steph, Lia and Leah.

“ So what do you know, what do you want to know , tell us everything.” Demanded Steph

“ Well l, I don't know a lot. I know that relationships within the team ruin everything. They certainly ruined my career at Chelsea. I lost friends, a job and a life.” I said which made Leah grab my hand to help me relax.

“ But I also know that I love it over here, you guys are amazing. I love all of you. You guys make me feel less alone.” I added with a smile on my face.

“ This whole concept is based on the idea of freedom and not having to make a choice. You can want multiple people or just one. We communicate really well. By now they were all nervous, checking my face for any kind of reaction and Leah had let go of my hand. However, I wasn't nervous. I really liked the way they looked at eachother. They all behaved in a loving manner towards one another which made me feel safe.

I took a moment before I retook Leah’s hand in mine. “ Hey it's okay, I am okay with this I think. I like the idea.” I said with a smile on my face.

Right there and then the whole room relaxed, and smiles were all around.

“ So do you just get up and start kissing each other or what ? ” I asked jokingly. But Katie didn't take it as a joke. She got up and quickly locked her lips with mine.

I, mindlessly, gave into it. The kiss was soft and sweet. I then jolted remembering the other people in the room.

After my reaction, Leah continuously rubbed my back. “ Hey it's okay, if this is too crazy for you we can stop.” she said

Hazbin Hotel bouta make me homophobic just yall wait

OKAY SO VOX. So I wanted him to be a really strong visual opposite to my design of alastor, mainly in shapes and colors. So Vox has a much larger, thicker, rounder silhouette and shape to Alastors starved appearance. His colors are also very bright and heavily contrast w/ eachother, very few midtones, to contrast alastors greyscale pallete.

I changed his death/backstory a lot. To me, I feel like it makes more sense to have Vox be way more caught up with modern internet and tech, so he's much more modern (also cus like. Obvi newer generations of sinners would overtake older generations bc of technologies and culture changes etc etc)

So now, Vox was an internet troll who constantly argued and stuff online. He had an underlying heart condition, only made worse by his unhygienic and unhealthy lifestyle, that culminated in going into cardiac arrest in front of his computer during a particularly heated debate.

He has no face now, gives more leeway for his TV to be expressive. He also has no forearms, just cus it looks cool (and now he can connect to computers while still typing/using hands for other things)

Miquella SOTE analysis  

SOTE spoilers + cw for incest (mentioned?)

As much as I could scream here about how much I hate the butchery of his character I decided I'm going to take Vaati's place early and attempt to make sense of it (i dont get paid for this)

Throughout the DLC Miquella is a big theme and he is mentioned a ton, both by his followers/npcs but some portions of it feel like direct traces to Miquella; That everything is leading you to him.

Now that the bewitchment theory is canon (sadly), this could also be seen as his allure bringing the Tarnished to him. He needs the Tarnished. Why? Because only a reddit mod tryhard as our Tarnished could possibly beat Radahn, kill Mohg, and drag their corpses to him.

During the boss fight with him and Radahn, Radahn traps the player in this weird hug, Miquella whispers to the Tarnished about his age of compassion; "I'll make the world a gentler place". This bewitches our Tarnished and if you get hug-bewitched-whispered twice you get a death screen that says "HEART STOLEN" 

Trying to make sense of why he would need Radahn; Miquella in order to become a god and take Marika's place needs a consort. Miquella seems attached to strength; Look at Malenia, Mohg, Godwyn and Radahn.

What do they have in common? Strength. Our Tarnished also has that.

When he asks presumably us to be his consort I have two theories on this;

Miquella is still trying to achieve his dream world, a gentle place where he can live with his family peacefully with no violence and everyone loves him. A childish dream metaphorically. In order to do this he would still need Godwyn, so perhaps he's still trying to do that and he's using Radahn as another tool to get there. SOTE still has strong themes of death and those who live in it. 

Miquella still refers to his "Lord brother" and assuming this is Godwyn, it's possible that this would be true. However, if this is not the case and Radahn was re written to be his lord brother;

2. Miquella still wants that dream I mentioned earlier, but without the Godwyn part. He can cleanse people of scarlet rot (that one npc says so) So this could all feed into that and how he is really is trying to become a benevolent god in which everyone loves him/eachother and everything is okay; The opposite of how things are in the lands between. However because its so childish people wouldn't agree to it, so he thinks the only way to get there is bewitching them.

One of the items says how Malenia whispered in Radahns ear (i hate this lore) So this would mean that she was aware of this, meaning this was Miquella's plan from the start and the way his followers and everything hypes him up is because it was a plan he tried too hard to make work and possibly bewitched everyone in the process. (Considering Miquella doesn't become a god in the end from what I can gather?)

Not my favourite analysis to be making knowing...certain...writers...but  I guess I didn't wait 2 years just to not at least try to see Miquella's character.

You were very shy and closed off. Not the kind of thing you'd expect. Shinobu was the first to make you feel more welcome, her goal being to get you out of your shell a little bit, you were a hashira after all. Giyu wasn't to focused on you until you three got paired for a mission. Your strength and sense of justice inspired them both, and shocked them. You opened up a bit more during that mission and they knew a little more about you. You were so sweet! Shinobu definitely took a quiet liking to you, Giyu as well. He admired your strength the most. He didn't see your true confidence until he watched you fight a demon, and win. You always checked up on the others, especially them two. They were both very closed off! (Giyu mainly.) Over time you opened up to the hashira, and Shinobu and Giyu definitely noticed. They learnt more about your true personality and they were a bit taken aback.. but it was obvious they both had a keen interest in you. I can see Shinobu ranting about you to Giyu. She loves to tease him constantly, so who better to talk about her admiration than the one and only! She didn't exactly state she was in love with you, she knew her feelings well, but chose not to tell anyone. Giyu on the other hand was completely oblivious to his feelings! While Shinobu ranted about how amazing and talented you were, all Giyu could think about was how much he agreed with her. It lead him to ask her a question.

It was the first time Giyu had ever considered his feelings. Was he? He definitely admired you, just as much as Shinobu. It made him feel a little bit jealous. (Feelings like that aren't quite platonic..)

Instead of being jealous of Giyu, Shinobu helped out. Maybe it was pity, maybe it was guilt. She didn't exactly know why she decided to help him. She just did. Which is why she helped him discover his feelings, she made him realize that he was also in love with you. To be honest, they were both clueless on what to do.

It seemed like no matter what Giyu said, Shinobu would pin the choices on him. While she did love to tease him, she cared for him as well.

That alone made up their minds. They were going to tell you that they loved you, both of them were. At the same time. I doubt they expected you to choose either of them, let alone both of them.

They approached you in the daytime, it was safer anyway due to the demons. Shinobu invited you to a walk. You agreed. The three of you walked in silence a bit before Shinobu had spoken up.

"You know.. I think Tomioka has something to tell you, don't you?"

You were confused, but interested. Giyu stopped walking and so did you and Shinobu. You asked him if he really did have to tell you something. To which, he replied.

That wasn't really the plan.. well, they didn't have a plan exactly. They just knew they were gonna confess their feelings, separately. You were shocked to say the least, Giyu as well. You quickly looked and him, the only thing he gave you was a small nod. It definitely took you a moment of processing and a silent "really?" From you. Shinobu claimed that they were both very serious about their feelings towards you. You admitted to being in love with the both of them, you said you were unable to choose between them.

"Hm.. this is certainly a situation huh? How about us both." Shinobu had proudly suggested with that same smile she always had. It's difficult to tell when it's genuine or not. Giyu looked at her in a way that had different meanings, he wasn't against it of course, but was that even possible? (He was shocked, poor man knows nothing about love.) You thought about it for a bit, and agreed. Shinobu confidently declared you three were dating! Giyu agreed to it. He didn't mind sharing you. Plus, he trusted Shinobu.

You three continued your walk and ended up talking about it further inside, it wasn't anything super serious. Just a subtle agreement they were yours. And they shared you.

It was Shinobu's idea for a date. Her and Giyu are both very laid back people and probably wouldn't be very romantic. (Besides possibly Shinobu) She had brought up to you and Giyu that it would be perfect for you all to go on a date, specially, a restaurant date. You both agreed, you being more excited than Giyu, and had went together on a free day you guys had. It was near dawn when you guys approached the restaurant, You each ordered your meals and had talked about many things. After you guys ate, Giyu announced he had a gift for you. He ended up pulling out a box of chocolate covered strawberries (hand made to be exact, he put a lot of thought into those strawberries.) You were so happy!! Two of your favorite things, in one. Shinobu praised Giyu for being so thoughtful and the only thing he could respond with were quiet words neither of you heard. He was quite flustered when you hugged him and kissed his cheek after the gift, Shinobu silently watched the scene infront of her, with a genuine smile. Shinobu and Giyu are aware about your liking to receiving quality time and they actually plan out more dates after that.

☆ GENERAL HEADCANONS:

Your dynamic is very interesting, considering you and Giyu are Aquarius', while Shinobu is a Pisces. Aquarius and Pisces are known to bicker a lot! They have a sibling like dynamic and tend to be super close despite their odds. It reminded me of Giyu's and Shinobu's dynamic a lot and it definitely explains them in your relationship.

While on the other hand, you and Shinobu are different. While you two may have your odds, you both are able to really communicate with eachother very well and it never leads to anything bad. Both your personalities may seem very different from eachother, and may cause certain difficulties but you two always manage to work through them. ..you guys adopt a cat together. (Giyu bought the cat a shark onesie, and it's the cutest thing ever.)

They totally help you with your skin care and hair care. You guys even have days where you do your routine on them!

While you all are strong in your own ways, it doesn’t stop you three from worrying about eachother when a demon comes into the picture. You don't doubt their abilities, and they don't doubt yours, but the fear still stands. They both reassure you that they'll be alright and make you promise you'll be the same! You guys are always paired up for missions due to how well all three of you work well together. You value your bonds and your job as a hashira.

After long days of training you guys end up falling asleep together, it's just too sweet.

They're aware about your disorders and issues and don't judge you for it. Because they're so calm and understanding, you guys are able to communicate through issues that may arise. They're always there when you need them, and are always able to give you space if you need it. If you were to ever (unintentionally) get mad at them, they wouldn't be mad at you. They would if course give you space until you've cooled off. When you're in a better mood Shinobu is always the first to hug you and make sure your okay, while Giyu prepares your favorite things to give you. (Think like a snack or book, his idea is to make you feel safe until you fall asleep <3)

They're both your biggest supporters and admirers and the truly love you a lot. They see you three staying together until the end.

Giyu and Shinobu are never jealous of eachother, bickering for you may have happened early on in the relationship, but they learned to keep it purely just jokes. While dating you, their bond with eachother grew and they became closer with eachother. They trust eachother completely and possessiveness isn't a issue.

While Giyu and Shinobu aren't jealous or possessive, they can be when someone outside their relationship shows interest. They show it in very subtle ways, but they always make sure everyone knows you're theirs.

Shinobu loves it when you fall asleep on her, she knows you love sleep so she never dares to wake you up.

Shinobu isn't too big on hand holding, but she loves to cling to you by holding onto your uniform sleeve or your arm.

I can see both her and Giyu immediately checking up on you after a mission, if you're injured they're the first to volunteer in helping you.

Even though Shinobu isn't fond of it, Giyu loves to hold your hand. It's his own subtle way of being close to you. (He's super awkward when both giving and receiving so it takes a lot for him to even hold your hand)

I totally see him loving physical touch over time. Seeing how you and Shinobu interact with it, gave him more confidence to do it himself.

They both can be pretty protective of you due to their pasts. They have both lost someone in their lives and they don't want you to be the next one.

Since you're all hashira's spending time together can be rather difficult.. even so, after their missions they always come straight to you.

(They totally talk about you together, literally all good things. One thing they truly have in common is how much they love you! They admire you in secret constantly.)

Shinobu definitely nicknames you jax or uses soft pet names like "dear" or darling" Giyu isn't to big on pet names but I see him using "love" or just "babe" .. Shinobu usually switches up the names she uses for you a lot, geuinley within the same day. One minute you're jax and then the next interaction you're eden. Giyu sticks with your name or jax like Shinobu, they didn't call you that until you guys started dating.

Shinobu definitely calls Giyu pet names whether they're dating eachother or not. Giyu has learned to just called her "Shinobu" instead of her surname.

I cannot see Giyu topping for the life of me. Maybe a service top. Shinobu on the other hand, she's extremely dominant. If she's tired she'll let you take the lead 100% but other times she prefers to be in charge.

I feel like for your first time together it would've been after a very long day, you guys are cuddling until Shinobu speaks up. "Hey babes.. let's do something exciting.." Giyu didn't know what she meant at all, you had an idea. It wasn't until she started kissing you deeply while looking directly into Giyu's eyes that you both realized what she meant. The previous day, you had told both Shinobu and Giyu you had something important to tell them. They didn't know exactly what, but they knew it was serious. You guys decided to talk about it in the Butterfly Mansion, even though none of you were injured, Shinobu thought it'd be best for privacy (and safer). Shinobu had let the two of you in. You were greeted by Aoi. "Can I get you guys any drinks?" You three accepted and she had brought you guys your favorite. You guys come here often enough for her to automatically know what you guys want. After the drinks, Shinobu took you both to a room and closed the door. She had asked her assistants to not bother them for a while, which meant you three had full privacy.

"What is it you had to dear?"

You took a deep breath in, you knew their history with demons. It made you even more nervous.

"Well.. okay. There's something I haven't told you both yet, and I need to tell you guys, I can't keep this up anymore.."

Both of them had a worried look on their face, nonetheless Giyu spoke up.

"Go ahead, don't worry too much. We won't judge you, alright?"

You looked down, you were extremely worried. How could you not be? You guys have been dating for 3 months, it only makes sense to tell them now before it goes any further.. you must've been quiet for too long because Shinobu began to speak.

"Are you okay, Jax?"

You nodded. You took another deep breath, silently hoping that you could just crumble away from this situation as a whole.

"I'm.. not fully human."

Both of them were confused, a little shocked to. You noticed their expressions and elaborated a little more.

"What I mean is.. I'm half demon."

Yeah, the confusion left them immediately. They were extremely shocked. Giyu was accepting of demons, he excepted Nezuko anyways. Shinobu has a deep hatred for demons, having a facade that she wanted to be friends with them all. They have both lost to demons. But, they did love you. They loved you more than themselves.

They weren't mad, just shocked. Giyu spoke up, the silence was heavy.

"That's okay."

Shinobu had looked at him, then you. She didn't see you differently.. she just didn't know how to handle this. They both knew you weren't fully demon, that you didn't act like it either. Giyu had moved closer to you, and hugged you. Shinobu sat in silence for a bit, thinking to herself.

"This doesn't change the way we see you darling."

It was the first thing she said in a while. Giyu removed himself from you and she walked over to kiss you. She apologized for her silence. They explained to you that this doesn't change anything, that they still see you the same. They loved you! It was a little emotional. They comforted you the entire time, reassuring you to the best of their abilities.

You've liked Ellie for as long as you can remember, you practically grew up together considering your parents got on well. You both had simular interests aswell, comics, space, you name it you both atleast had a phase or are still interested.

The only problem was you didn't know if Ellie liked you back, she didn't make it obvious at all, in fact she wasn't the type to show affection. Meanwhile you were quite the opposite, physical touch was your love language meanwhile you didn't know ellies.

When you started to like Ellie you tried to ignore it, you'd never felt like this with anyone else before so why must it be Ellie? Thoughts like this wondered around your mind for months into you finally gave in into the fact you had a slight crush on Ellie.

You were now in college and you started to feel like this at the start of high-school, she still didn't know, and although you wanted a high-school relationship you just knew it wouldn't happen, atleast you knew you didn't want any type of relationship with guys, that's for sure and Ellie definitely knew that.

Ellie also made it quite obvious she liked girls too, infact everyone practically knew it. As for you, it was more hidden as for you were scared of people's reactions or how Ellie would react. I mean yeah, she likes girls so what's the problem? You didn't exactly know the problem.

As you both started college together you fell even more inlove with her. "are you nearly done yet?" Ellie whined, which made you chuckle. "Ellie be patient, I promise I'll play video games with you when I'm done" "you better" she mumbled and continued to doodle.

You had your usual playlist on as you studied, humming along at the song currently playing.

"what song is this?" Ellie asked curiously "training wheels by melanie martinez" you replied in which she sighed "I don't know that song" "do you like it so far?" You smiled as you looked over at her "mm yeah, whats it about?" Ellie asked once again in which you blushed, knowing you'd have to explain the meaning further "its about wanting to take your relationship a step further? You know, like, training wheels?" You chuckled awkwardly in which Ellie nodded "ohh, that makes sense!" she replied.

As the low hum continued you couldn't help but think more about ellie as the song played, you were completely unfocused on the essay you had to complete and just sat there thinking, little did you know Ellie was thinking the exact same thoughts as you.

Ellie then looked over at you, her cheeks slightly pink. "You okay?" Ellie asked as she chuckled to herself "oh? Me? Yeah, mhm" you quickly answered as you blushed slightly. "You done the essay?" Ellie questioned. "Uhm, you know I'll continue it later" you shrugged. Thoughts swirled your head, you wanted to tell ellie so bad how you felt. it was the perfect moment, or was it? if you didn't do it now you would never know.. you both would never know.

You looked over at Ellie in which she felt your gaze, you both looked up. "Ellie" you mumbled in which she quietly replied "yeah.." And before you could answer you kissed her. This was the momment you had been waiting for since high school and it finally came, but how did Ellie feel?

She was confused at first but not even a secound later she joyfully giggled and melted into your touch. It felt as if all your worries went away as she kissed you, she cupped you cheeks and you felt life you were gonna faint, you knew 13 year old you was running laps right now.

Ellie broke the kiss first, she was smiling like crazy as a slight shade of pink covered her cheeks. "Your such a dork" you giggled "mm yeah? I know you love it" she said playfully as you both smiled, blushing slightly. Before you could speak up again your lips crashed together and she started to kiss you again.

and to your suprise the hum of training wheels was still playing.

What is your process like when building a story, it's characters and world?

my two main methods - start with characters, or start with plot/setting

to start with characters - that's an easy enough one for me and my main go-to. I enjoy writing and drawing characters more than I do working on worldbuilding or setting stuff, and I think "wouldn't it be cool if I had a character who was x/did y/etc". my book Said The Black Horse is 100% character driven. the three main characters are built for each other, to fit together in the story. the world is built FOR the characters - it's not a worldbuilding Project that works outside the scope of the story. so for this story, the starting point was - "i want to write about a poly gay relationship between three fucking losers who constantly get in arguments with eachother". before the faery stuff, before anything else about the setting, that was the start of it. it's about a close friendship/romance. i start with the characters - not so much 'here's what they look like and their personality and backstory' but 'here's the functional purpose of that character, here's what they bring to the story'. and that doesn't mean that everything has to be critically important to the plot either

so now we have the purpose of that character - what character traits make it easier to achieve this purpose? what might be entertaining to read? the characters are built as a cast, to all fit together - not in the sense of "x character is the stubborn one so that means y character has to be opposite of that", but "x is the stubborn one, so what trait of y's can emphasise x's stubbornness" and vice versa. the characters are tools, not people, and it's fine to give one a trait just for the purpose of enhancing our understanding of another more important character. how do they bring out the best in one another? or (my favourite) how do they bring out the worst?

I find that the story comes very naturally just from building up the cast. what parts of the setting can be used to show off these characters? my book has an extended period when the characters are lost as children & on the run - well, why not put them in a giant magic forest known for eating people alive, just to raise the stakes and show more of the supernatural elements? okay, how does that forest change the setting? how does it impact the characters? what are their misconceptions about the forest? which misconceptions come from their culture? what does that say about their culture? and once you get this sort of cycle going, it's hard to stop. only drawback is that it might take multiple rough drafts of the same story until you iron out all the creases - i started writing the rough draft in 2019, it was about 110k words. the first true draft in 2020 was 215k words. the current draft is 225k words. that's a lot of writing lol and each new draft started with a new blank document.

to start with setting - this is tougher for me because i just love characters so much and tend to only really care about them. but sometimes you get an idea like "what if big mechanical beasts" while listening to a christian metal album and you gotta pursue it, even without the safe starting point of the characters. but in a way it's kind of the same - the setting HAS to serve the story first of all, otherwise it's just a worldbuilding project. which is fine, they just don't hold my attention all that much. so the concept - 'what if mechanical beasts' -> what are they used for? fighting dragons. why? for fuel, and righteous religious reasons. immediately there's a scarcity problem with the fuel, right, if it only comes from dragons. so how is this dealt with? it's very expensive. the church controls the supply to avoid having to compete with private entities or a non-theocratic government. how is this enforced? and so on and on and on. and then to put the characters in, it's me identifying which POV might be interesting to read about - a knight struggling to meet the church's expectations, an enginesmith with a guilty secret, and a banished ex-knight who desperately yearns for adulation again.

i find that the best way to refine the setting or characters is just to write in it. pick a random plot that COULD happen and write it out short story style. i will instantly run into issues that need to be solved, in order of importance. it doesn't matter if you have a whole kingdom designed down to the last vizier if you don't know what a character does in their day to day life when the main plot isn't happening

Soo everyone was PRETTY FUCKIN CONFUSED when u and bakugou ended up dating

Everyone wondered how the hello kitty kid managed to snag the orange and black colour scheme dominated explosion murder god

But despite everyone’s whispers,yall were a happy couple

Bakugou never made u feel like ur likes were TOO feminine or like it annoyed him

But u made sure that he didnt come to ur room often

Makin sure that if he was pickin u up for dates youd be ready five mins before he came to immediately come out the door without him getting a peak inside

You really REALLY liked bakugou and you didnt want to lose him over something as ‘silly’ as an ‘overly feminine pink sanrio themed room’

But one fine day(as fate would have it!)you fell asleep at his place after a movie with the bakusquad
