Fairly certain I’m the neighborhood’s crazy cat lady…

I forgot that my cat made a hole in the cat net and let him out into the garden. A neighbor comes by asking if I own the light grey cat and I said “yes, I’m sorry, is he in your geraden?” (Nobody has ever complained but they have yet to see my cat mutilate a bird. I’m on borrowed time.)

Friendly neighbor tells me my cat is on my direct neighbor’s roof.

THE ROOF

NONE of the other cats in the neighborhood do this!! Maybe they walk atop the fences. Luna (neighborhood black cat) likes to nap on our front garden table… ya know… normal cat stuff.

Please picture me harshly whispering, “you little asshole! Get down here!” While holding a laundry basket for him to jump into.

Then the neighborhood children join me with treats and saying “Frau Hassell! Da da!!” Telling me where he is when he disappears time to time.

Eventually I called out the big guns. I asked an older child to leash Merri (golden retriever and Balu’s greatest love) and bring her to me — the kid knows Merri well and has no problem bringing her out.

INSTANTLY after seeing his goddess, the damn cat jumps into the laundry basket and down to Merri, rubbing all over her and bless that puppy she just barely tolerates him.

He followed Merri back inside. Balu is banished to indoor activities. The children got to play with my dog and I paid them in kinder regal chocolate.

Be not afraid!

So a week ago, I sprained my ankle and couldn't walk for 3 days. I'm used to hiking at least an hour a day with my huskies so not being able to walk at all was driving me crazy. And in my jittery sedimentary state, I kept getting visions of this blursed being: a biblically accurate axolotl. There was nothing I could do but draw it. I'm all better now and able to walk again, now back to making less cursed art (maybe)
