a/n: im doing well! hope you are aswell!

college seemed great. you had been accepted into your ideal collage and had made some great, hopefully lifelong, friends. however, the only issue was that you needed to look for a place to stay for the rest of your course. getting to and from college was becoming more hassle than what it was worth as you didn't take up the initial offer of dorms, but now you were deeply regretting that decision. you had spent hours scrolling on the college's website looking at the dorms in hopes of someone putting out a request for a roomate but nothing ever seemed to come about.

in honesty, you were getting tired of constantly looking for places to stay that reduced the amount you needed to travel - you cursed yourself for not taking up the dorm offer when you first got accepted. a sigh escaped you as you were getting bored of searching and decided that it might be better to turn in for the the night but one listing caught you're eye. it was a decently sized house, designed for student stay as the college would sponsor some similar places, that was within a walkable range of your college, it seemed almost perfect if the pricing wasn't so steep but you were desperate at this point so you contacted the lister and showed your interest just in case someone decided to take it before you could - maybe tomorrow you could ask a friend to go halves?

even as you walked toward your first class of the day, all you could think about was who might be willing to go halves with you on the place. hopes weren't exactly high as it was quite pricey on it's own but in contrast to some of the dormitories it wasn't that bad! your brain was practically on autopilot as you walked into your class and sat down at your designated seat.

maybe if one person wouldn't be willing to go halves, you could ask two friends? however, the more reasonable part of yourself knew that most people either had dorms or were fine with how they got to college daily. you were so engrossed with thinking of a solution that it barely registered that topaz, and numby, had sat beside you.

numby caught your attention first as topaz used that opportunity to pose the question 'everything alright over there? you seemed pretty lost in thought'

to be honest, nobody knew how topaz managed to have numby by her side at all times on campus, some rumours were that she simply paid the headmaster. it was to be expected that not many people wanted to be sat next to the whitette in class with numby always being there, fortunately you weren't all that fussed with the critter - it became rather adorable after a while. so sitting next to topaz had let you become extremely close with her and eventually friends.

'well it could be better' you eventually responded 'i finally found a place near enough to the college but it's rather expensive, kind of need someone to room with'

numby perked it's head and topaz hummed in acknowledgement before adding 'i'm sure you can find someone, ask around a bit and see'

'i only found it last night so i haven't had the chance to ask yet, but i will' you paused before realising 'would you room with me?'

'as much as i would love to, i've got my own dorm here but you shouldn't have a problem finding someone else' she plastered an almost guilty smile on her face 'sorry though'

a small sigh escaped you 'no it's fine, im more at fault for not taking up a dorm originally'

the door to the class opened and you both watched as the professor walked in, topaz leaned over and whispered 'i'll come find you at lunch and we can talk about this later', you nodded and she nodded back.

your class finished slightly earlier than normal and so you decided to wait outside of topaz's class for the last couple of minutes. while you waited you decided that it might be a good idea to have another look to see what else might've been listed and double check that the lister was still holding the accomodation for you - they had been very generous so far and you didn't want to test their patience and make them wait too long for a final answer, mainly because they're probably was a handful of students also eyeing up the place.

luckily topaz hadn't made you wait too long and you three walked to the normal spot that you'd hang out at. topaz sat opposite you and immediately she demanded to see the place you were looking at.

'defiantly worth finding a roomate for this place, it looks pretty decent for it's price, as steep as it may be' she scrolled through the details to confirm and take a final look at the images, even numby was looking over her shoulder doing small jumps in agreement.

you huffed slightly 'but who would be a decent roommate? it's not like im asking for a lot but im going have to see them everyday and every night until i graduate' you wish that your situation was a bit more fortunate, that way you wouldn't have to find a roommate and just rent the property for yourself.

topaz smiled 'yeah some roommates aren't the best but again, im sure you could ask another friend who doesn't have anywhere?' she watched as your expression made you seem extremely fed up and she only laughed 'i know i know, it's not that simple'

she handed your phone back and paused before adding 'i could always put some words out in your favour, some people i know haven't got anywhere'

'like me?' both you and topaz turned your heads to the approaching blondette.

'i wouldn't wish that fate on anyone' topaz sneered at him

he feined a small laugh 'you're words hurt me but surely im not that bad?' he turned to you and smiled 'so what about it?'

you were shocked at his straight forwardness, he hadn't even seen the property yet, and how did he even know you were looking for a roommate specifically? you weren't exactly jumping at the idea to room with someone who was practically a stranger to you either.

'not to be rude, but rooming with someone i barely know is quite bold, surely you must understand that' you glanced quickly over to topaz who was practically glaring daggers at him.

'i do understand that but any friend of topaz is a friend of mine, if she can get one thing right it's a decent taste in friends' he smiled at topaz and she looked ready to punch him.

you did know that aventurine was an accomplice of topaz, you weren't to sure if they were friends or not though. in honesty, he was a safe bet for a roommate. like topaz, you knew he was quite wealthy and so he could always pay his half of the rent and on time which would be ideal but again, you barely knew him and surely he could afford his own accomodation by himself?

'look, i can see your hesitation but i promise that i'd be an ideal roomate and i could even pay more than my intended dues if you wish?' aventurine looked all too happy for you're liking but really what other choice would you have, you doubted that you could find another roomate anytime soon, it was a gamble but maybe it'd pay off?

'alright fine but surely you'd like to see the property first?' you posed and he shook his head

'im sure that you chose a great place, just send me the details later and when you plan on moving in, tomorrow's more ideal yes?' he paused and then added 'topaz can give you my number' then he simply walked away with a wave goodbye.

true to his word, you sent him the details later that night and before you knew it, you were stood outside your new accommodation the very next morning. it felt a bit like a fever dream honestly, the accommodation that seemed idyllic was now where you'd stay until graduation but at the cost of rooming with someone who you barely knew - topaz didn't exactly help with her telling you that she wouldn't room with him for all the money in the world.

aventurine arrived shortly after you did, in a car that clearly had a personal driver, he greeted you with a smile and when ypu asked him where his stuff was he assured you it was arriving later and he wanted you to have first pick on your room. it still felt rather surreal to you but you tried pushing those thoughts behind and tried to be more grateful about finally having accommodation more convenient to the college.

and even a week later he was true to his word, aventurine was an ideal roomate. almost too ideal. you were yet again hanging with topaz and numby at lunch and she was very curious as to how much longer you could fair with him as a roomate but to her surprise you could only give positives.

he was always very considerate of your space and anything you owned, he would make for surprisingly good company and was just overall, extremely easy to live beside. the only downside you could think of was that it could still be a bit awkward between you two when talking but considering that you two were practically living together, it was expected to become easier as even after a week it felt much better than before.

although, recently a concern has a risen that you may be behind on your rent and bills. nothing had arrived in the mail and it was worrying because you didn't want to be kicked out, so you reached out and asked just to be told that they'd all been paid. a split second of confusion overcame you but it quickly dissolved when you realised exactly who was paying your side of the rent and bill. it may not seem that bad but in the agreement it was made extremely clear that both parties would pay half of the overall total, no debate. you needed to talk to him about this.

'has something happened?' aventurine asked looking extremely confused, he'd barely stepped foot in the accommodation before he noticed you waiting for him with your arms crossed.

'yes, without me knowing, you answered before continuing 'i realised that i haven't received the rent and bills in a while, so i asked'-

'i know, i should've told you but surely it's not that big of a deal?' he cut you off, 'i already told you before that i wouldn't mind paying more than i needed to'

'yes but that's beside the point, i just wish that you would've asked me or told me even' it was true that it wasn't a big deal but you felt bad that he was paying more than agreed

'that's understandable, but i take it that you won't make me stop paying for them?' a smirk crawled it's way onto his face and he watched you mutter out a 'whatever' before walking toward you.

'will this suffice for an apology' he said before giving you a hug. he pulled away fairly quickly to see your shocked face and proceeded to walk past you and ruffle your hair, to which you quickly snapped around and yelled at him and he only laughed.

it had now been quite the while since you started rooming with aventurine. naturally, you two had become much more well acquainted to the point that you call him a friend. even after all this time, he still held up being an ideal roommate and this convinced you even more that this was a fever dream. it baffled you that you now sometimes hung out with him at college aswell.

he had informed you earlier today that he would be back a bit later than usual as he was joining a couple of people to an event, formal or not you didn't quite know. aventurine promised that he would try and not be a disturbance on returning but at this point you wouldn't mind if he was. but you settled to just tell him to have fun and that you don't mind when he comes back, he didn't really have to tell you either but the thought was sweet.

however you didn't expect to be woken up by the doorbell at who knows what time in the morning. you sleepily managed to get to the door and unlock it only to be greeted with two figures - one a very clearly tipsy aventurine and the other being the top student at the college, veritas ratio.

'apologies for the inconvenience but i tried warning the gambler to watch his intake, however he clearly didn't listen to me' ratio started 'again apologies but you're going have to take him now, you are his roommate afterall'

'it's fine really, i don't mind that much' you answered, brain still half clouded with a sleepy fog. ratio nodded and helped you steady aventurine against you with his arm around your shoulder before wishing you luck and leaving. you quickly tried to lock the door again so you could escort aventurine into his room.

with some difficulty, you finally managed to get him into his room. admittedly you'd never been in it before and you felt a little bad about entering but you couldn't just lay him down on the ground outside his door, well you could but that would be unfair. he'd have to deal with the fact that he was going to sleep in his current attire but you doubted that be the top of his concerns in the morning.

however you didn't anticipate aventurine to grab onto you as you tried your best to leave quietly. as you were attempting to pry yourself away you heard him mumble a simple request 'just stay a little while'

you sighed and for some reason you decided to comply, you told yourself that you would stay until he fell asleep then you'd leave and go back to your room. or atleast that was the plan before aventurine took your compliance and wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into a hug - that's fine, it just made it harder to leave but you could manage, is what you told yourself.

unfortunately, you never managed to pry yourself from aventurine and you're sleepy state made it easier to fall asleep then and there. however, you woke up before aventurine and managed to scramble before he woke up, although he woke up not too long after and met you, rather guilty, in the kitchen.

he seemed to remember last night as he started with 'i apologise for my behaviour last night, i wasn't quite in control of myself' he barely could meet your eyes shich was very uncharacteristic for the outgoing blonde and you knew that he probably never wanted to bring this up again.

'it's fine, you were slightly tipsy and it's understandable, barely anything happened either so it's completely fine' you noticed that he still looked rather sad

'thank you' he replied for going back upstairs.

it couldn't be ignored, the somber tone that filled the house felt almost suffocating. in honesty, you found it sweet that he trusted you enough to ask you to stay with him but he was drunk, you knew aventurine wasn't that affectionate but he still seemed to hold a sense of consciousness... no, you were overthinking. you two were friends, that's it. so maybe it was bad you both wished for something more than friends...

FINLAY HEAD CANNONS YAY!!!

• She's absolutely one of the smartest members on the Beira. Honestly, I'm not quite sure if it's ever mentioned in the game, but Finlay seems to catch on to a lot of things quickly, there's no hiding anything from her. I DO however remember this voice line, "After that explosion, he got oil or something on him and he just, I don't know ... he freaked out ... went for me! He's still out there." Even at the beginning of the game she knew something was up!!

• Finlay's a bigger woman, no questions asked. I believe I've seen another headcanon on here saying she's around 6'2, and I whole heartly agree with that. I might actually draw her some other time to show how I see her, but I personally think she's definitely more heavyset. I mean, even in the game her character is bigger than others.

• Adding on to the last one, Finlay's actually really strong, while you may not see it much due to the bulky uniform or the fat on her body, she's definitely got a decent bit of muscle definition. I wouldn't quite say she's ripped, but she's absolutely muscular.

• I feel like the guy's would try and challenge her to an arm wrestle and she'd win nearly, if not, every time. It's not that the boys on the rig underestimate her, quite the opposite, actually. The arm wrestling thing is more so for fun, or for the title of being the one who somehow managed to beat Finlay at her own game.

• Okay, I can't actually think of any interactions we have with her that back up this one, but I also saw a headcanon somewhere saying Finlay might've had younger brothers and was the oldest out of all of her siblings, she's used to being around boys, especially rowdy ones, so I wanna say she'd think of some of the other crew members in a similar way to her brothers.

• She's the type of person you go to when you're upset. Finlay doesn't seem like the type to sugarcoat anything, if you need advice she's going to be brutally honest because she knows the truth is what you need to hear more than anything. Remember that one interaction at the end of the game? Where she's telling Caz to blow up the rig? Yeah, she was completely right, and he knew it.

• OKAY, OKAY, LAST ONE!! At the beginning of the game there's dialogue with Finlay where she says she's in need of a smoke, that being said, I think after awhile of running around on the rig she'd have to take some breaks. As a bigger person myself with respiratory issues, I can say it's not a lot of fun running all over the place. I don't think she'd have asthma per say, but she's a middle aged smoker. She's gonna need to stop and catch her breath. (Not sure if this one actually makes that much sense but it's whatever,,,)

heya! i just rewatched your sc2020 video…again… and then found out you're on tumblr and, of course, immediately went to look if you've posted anything about sj aswell and found that post from *checks notes* 1.5 months ago - so, i guess what im here to ask is, would you mind elaborating on that?

im unfamiliar with marble blast (im so sorry i do not have the brainpower to watch your essay on that...yet) so the comparison you make is not particularly useful to me :v

also for context, i did contribute to sj, specifically playtesting and programming, so i do have Opinions™ (that im gonna keep to myself due to lack of anon ask (not a bad thing! i understand why you have it off)) and i wonder if those happen to bleed through to the player experience or if your gripes with it are something different entirely.

well, firstly, i have developed such a deep seated hatred of the celeste community that i haven't opened the game in months and i've considered just deleting my spring collab video multiple times, I'm not finishing any more of my maps because I don't want to make anything for these people. so i didn't actually finish SJ, I did everything up to & including the easy half of the grandmaster lobby though, and my take is that even with the few miracles I found within the map list, it would not have inspired a video essay on the level of the spring collab one if I'd played it first. it's just not as interesting, and not as rewarding to study. it represents a horrible misattribution of priorities that permeates the entire community.

in that video, i confidently say that spring collab is ALWAYS interesting, because modding culture is interesting even if it's interesting for being a little bad or revealing something about the author's proclivities. strawberry jam represents a near unanimous drive to remove authorship and make levels that are impartially agreeable, to make Celeste 2. it's only interesting when the mapper does something interesting on purpose, like Paint, Pointless Machines, Undergrowth, Summit Down-Side or Flipside Cliffside. a path of least resistance emerged in the time between SC2020 and Strawberry Jam, and experiencing it in this quantity made me forget what I liked about this game or this modding scene in the first place. the volume of creative gimmicks and varied aesthetics is huge, but each one starts to feel identical after being ground through this particular jank-averse process. I still have strong opinions about every map in SC2020, even the ones that might seem unremarkable, I can only barely begin to quantify the entire fucking C tier of my SJ tierlist. it's diverse on the surface but the substance is homogenous, especially intermediate through expert.

also in my SC2020 video, I talked about a certain tension that arrives once you get to the expert lobby, where the mappers had to create uncommercial levels of difficulty that rubbed against a similar apparent drive to make the player feel like they're actually doing the challenge & not just watching it. strawberry jam arrives at this conflict far earlier, the INTERMEDIATE maps and onwards are the ones that seem to pull between making interesting challenges while also having the player be an agent in those challenges. they want the intermediate levels to feel hard, look cool, and the solution is to just make them ridiculously constrained so the only way is the ~satisfying~ way. that's why I won't make a video about strawberry jam, because many segments in my spring collab video already serve as criticism for strawberry jam. it made the same mistakes again, but worse, and with far less of the things that made me love spring collab in spite of its flaws.

here's my tierlist, if there are any questions i'll try and qualify any of these takes with what i can remember from playing it. however, for reasons stated previously I won't be playing more so this is probably gonna be it.

I'm no medical proffesional but I just see cool wounds and think about scars which leads me to think about the consequences of those wounds, which I simply cannot comprehend.

I had a whole thing for the WoF arc but for here i'll just do pics. (tumblr i truly despise you for what you have deleted)

THIS BOY SHOULD HAVE NOT RECOVERED THAT EASILY. Not to mention his throat's insides b u r n t to a crisp. Just from a food burn a person takes a few days to recover and feel relief in their throat. Jotaro's throat got BURNED inside and out. He can't have talked and ate that easily after that incident and I will die on the hill that jotaro's wounds still severely affect during and after sdc. I just believe that an episode to show Jotaro healing like something as simple as jotaro not talking as much as his throat got burnt really itches me.

not mention Jotaro's love to excessively bleed and hack up blood from his mouth, see exhibit 2:

(ok ^^^ this one looks worse because of the blood already in his shoulder, which i noticed gets hurt a lot aswell. And a gash that deep would cause shoulder pains, a large patchy scar and skin tissue)

ouch! people do love hurting jotaro's shoulder

sorry for the weird shot, but here's another shoulder wound for good measure. Jotaro here will get a scar similar to ones like a laceration scar around his shoulder, this may be more visible and straight, looking at how deep Anubis Polnareff hit it

oh and mouth bleeding in the same episode wow! get some rest tall child!

Talking about mouth bleeding, since Anubis Chariot got to stab Jotaro but that stab was most definitely deeper than it looks. Probably scraped his intestine or smth. And a bandage definitely won't work this time Polpol. The scar here, from what I have seen and researched (little), the scar could become patchy and uneven around that area, it could be lighter in the middle and darker patchy scars surrounding it.

Ok!!! Now the final battle with DIO. a lot of stuff to work with here again (I hate you tumblr for crashing on me and making me lose my work)

even with the books, he got multiple stab wounds to the chest, and enough to make him bleed. Per the usual scars, but it might be fainter since the books took some damage aswell.

aswell as mouth blood again

he also got a knife to the head, yes he had protection but hard enough to bleed. Did I mention the stand barrages and multiple broken bones that may had to take weeks or more to heal?

This TEENAGER survived multiple crashes into buildings, roads, signs AND run over and you're telling me he won't have any problems regarding physical health as well? This will require lots of rest and casts during the stages of healing. Not to mention the sever bruises just from this fight. Those bruises will probably take a few days or more to fully go away but it will still be sore and sensitive after that stage of healing.

We can see his eyes losing color, we can see how aggressively he stops his heart and pumps it again. Doing all of that in that small timeframe should cause many problems, and i'm not that smart to name all of it but brain damage is probably one of them ngl. His heart here could be, and is most likely, really damaged and sensitive. This could lead him to having some fatigue and some level of brain damage considering the immediate and drop and lack of blood flow to his brain. There's a chance that an occurrence of light headedness could happen because of brain shenanigans.

For a while there are some minor injuries, just cuts on his face and other than that we got the muscle goop jotaro but Josuke healed him all up along with jotaro who had a thousand holes through him.

AND CRASHED INTO WOOD. I know josuke healed it and all but damn! That must've hurt.

THIS MAN COULDN'T EVEN STAND AFTER THAT AND KIRA SAID IT HIMSELF. HE CAN SEE RIGHT THROUGH JOTARO'S WOUNDS.

most wounds he sustained during that part were bruises and the gunshots he got in the prisoners of love eps. But!! The Whitesnake acid is interesting because I don't think it behaves like normal acid (in which case we would've seen some pretty disturbing wounds 😬) but i'm curious if it would leave wounds, and if so, what type? We know it kills people and IS acidic so...

We also got the "JOLYNE" wound! which would leave a lighter versions of the cuts most likely in the shape of cut :), nice way to remember your daughter and feel close to her. How do I know it will end up like that? I have a knife cut myself :]

yayyyy we throat wound. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT JOTARO COULD TALK THAT CLEARLY. Joot's throat and larynx would be ATLEAST dAMAGEDD and so would his voice. He's scar would also be lighter in color to his skin and wouldn't be as smooth, might stick out a bit in some cases.

..the eye split.. now since he's...yea kinda dead..we won't really have a scar for this one. But fret not! We have everyone survived aus so this includes stone ocean. Of course the right eye will go blind and there will be scarring on the face, it may actually not be a straighter line down Jotaro's face because as it heals, some parts are gonna heal better and will lead to unevenness maybe.

ff7 temeraire au fic idea? your honour, i might be cooking

I already have ideas for another fic to get started after “Be Sweet” (or maybe concurrently, once I have the time to write enough to get ahead of my posting schedule lol) Might be a agszc fic, haven't quite decided on that yet, but we'll see where the drafting leads me I guess. its leaning agszc simply because i have some fun little moments i'd like to include, and what can i say, it's a good time.

Thoughts on a temeraire inspired au? I think the concept of a SHINRA aerial corps is very fun, might get into writing dragonbased warfare for the hell of it. The idea of maybe Cloud becoming a cadet, and becoming part of Zack’s crew or something? I can see Cloud slowly but surely working his way up to like a topman and eventually lieutenant on Zack’s crew? Maybe he is loaned out to another crew after a crippling and devastating attack, and Cloud is put to the test in the heat of battle with a crew he isn't used to fighting with? Lowkey kinda love the idea of Genesis having a regal copper, just a massive beast of a dragon, and being justifiably proud. Maybe Sephiroth, the esteemed general, possesses a celestial? Maybe an acid spitter? Or even a fire breather? It needs to possess some fearsome quality, to sort of fit the whole moniker of "the demon of Wutai". Zack would have a middleweight, mayhaps a breed with great manoeuvrability, to be able to quickly offer support and backup for the larger beasts. A lightweight breed could also work, but I do not think Zack is best utilized as a scout, and middleweights fare better in battle. Speed and support can be just as intimidating and fearsome, if not more, as one of the larger breeds if done correctly.

Zack would be very good in an aerial formation with any of the firsts, due to his ability to support. I believe he would've been Angeal’s lieutenant atop his massive heavyweight dragon before being strongly recommended for the upcoming hatching of an egg, and this becomes nothing short of a benefit once Zack’s dragon is grown enough for battle. His time as a lieutenant would mean that Zack has become able to make split second decisions to defend the first’s weak spots, knowing them like the back of his own hand after years as Angeal’s right hand man, because you can never be taught anything quite as well as experience does. Maybe someone has one of those tiny, tiny but oh-so-intelligent dragonbreeds from China, like a jade dragon? (described as being smaller or similar in size to a horse. Naturally this would probably be updated to being a Wutaian breed, and I’d have to do some actual work designating FF7 native locations for the dragon breeds, but whatever, it’ll be worth the hassle in the end.) I sort of like the idea that some of the biggest dragons (i.e Genesis’ regal copper, Zack's middleweight and maybe even Angeal’s heavyweight) would be all hissy and pissy that they can't also go inside buildings the same way the jade dragon can, endlessly jealous. (Maybe Sephiroth’s dragon would be jealous too, but let’s be honest, it would rather pull out teeth than admit it, as I think both dragon and general alike would be two sides of the same coin.) might be some avalanche stuff aswell, cant leave my sweet girlies out if this (this includes all of them, do not fight me on this). it could be set during the war with wutai, could be me fucking around with some timelines, who knows? endless potential! I think the idea is fun, and I might look into beginning the drafting process of this in the near future as soon as I’ve caught up with my Be Sweet schedule, but nevertheless, much to think about when trying to fall asleep.

putting the facts into an order i think is important, based on your explicit statements: this relationship is draining for you. you don't think you want a romantic relationship with her, though you do want to maintain a close platonic relationship with her. you're nd and can have a hard time describing past feelings - and i wouldn't be surprised if that also occurs with current feelings.

I found that this ultimately meant I had to work on finding a way to safely express my feelings - that we should break up, and that I would like to remain close friends with my now-ex gf. for me, this was hard - I was balancing mental health for both of us, plus academic lives, and a long-distance situation. I ultimately decided that I had to initiate this conversation, and spent some time trying to take a step back and think of how she'd likely respond. Be cautious if you're prone to anxious thoughts - try to check in on what reactions you've seen them have and if this is actually similar. from there... honestly, you have to talk.

physical safety comes first: there is no universally wrong way to break up, imo. I don't know anything about your gf, so please don't be mad if i'm assuming the worst - my ex, while generally sweet, had severe problems with emotional regulation in situations like this, and in a disabled with trauma way. i recognized that she could, in a physical meeting where we were too close, respond with physical violence before she had time to process that urge. I chose to break up with her while at a physical distance, and near my car. For some people, physical safety is a necessary concern for their own self. i've also known a breakup where my concern was the physical safety of the other individual - in that case, follow a similar plan as to below, but for that individual.

emotional safety is next. if you can, let supportive others know beforehand that you're breaking up. friends, family, therapists, etc. it doesn't have to be the whole crowd, just whoever feels important and available. make sure you have some kind of set up that allows you to go to a safe place to feel your emotions, take a deep breath, and begin to move forwards afterwards. even if it's mutual, you probably will have some feelings to work through, and that's normal.

finally... I want to have a real moment. My ex and I talked so many times, for so long, about how we were going to remain friends if we broke up, and nothing would stop us from ensuring that happened. We haven't talked since I broke up with her. It happens sometimes. Try to have realistic expectations, and recognize that it might take a few weeks for emotions to return to a more baseline level between you - and if you haven't heard back, but haven't explicitly been told to fuck off, I'd say 2-3 weeks is an appropriate time to reach back out.

this is.... long. but i hope it helps to provide some perspective, address some scenarios that can be important to consider, and ultimately, provide a broad guideline for the process of breaking up with hopes of continuing friendship.

Ok, since i got up today and whenever i had time in classes i was listening to the scaled and icy lyric videos. here is my opinion on them!

disclaimer- i am in no ways a professional musician, or a super-in depth reviewer. i am doing this for fun, and to share my opinion with others. i am not trying to criticize the band twenty øne piløts nor am i trying to dismiss anyone else’s opinion.

track 1- good day

one of my favorites from this album, it sounds like the beginning of a musical? kind of. it sounds really happy, but some of the lyrics are kind of dark- and i live for that verbal irony shit in music. my favorite verse is “lost my job my wife and child, homie just sued me.” as far as this song goes it’s a lot more ‘pop’ than what i am used to with the regular tøp music style, but in my humble opinion it sounds awesome and i like that tøp is experimenting with different styles of music.

track 2- choker

good beat at the beginning, i really like the music video. i don’t have as much to say about this one because i’ve already listened to it a lot. i like the rap for this one- “like a little splinter buried in your skin, someone else can carve it out but when you’ve got the pin, it hurts a little less and you can even push it further in, when you body’s screaming out trust you mind’s listening.”

track 3- shy away

this one i also listened to a lot. it’s got really good vocals music wise, and it’s got cool guitar!! i don’t have a favorite lyric for this.

track 4- the outside

funky beat, i like the chorus because the guitar sounds cool in it. my favorite lyric is “kids will try to take my vibes” the rap is also a bop about sharks, summer, and vibing.

track 5- Saturday

unfortunately this is my least favorite track because it sounds like it will be very over played. i still like it though. i like the lyric “catch me floating circles in my fish bowl”. i also think “might get loud on friday” is a nod to the livestream on 5-21-21. i also like that it is a little ocean themed, or like a reoccurring motif. the phone call with tyler and jenna as a bridge (i think) is a nice touch.

track 6- never take it

i like this one because it tells a clearer story that i don’t have to dig deep and analyze to understand. this song also reminds me a lot of the song “here comes the end” by gerard way. my favorite lyric is “why cure disease of confusion when your the treatment facility?” and “the summer i watched the tube i saw enough, taught myself to play guitar tearing it up and my advice on those too things that i picked up you better educate yourself but never too much.” all in all this song has good vibes. and an epic guitar solo!

track 7- Mulberry street

one of my favorites. i like the piano tune at the beginning. it just makes me happy and has a nice sound. the bridge sounds sadder than the rest of it but i think it links the song to other tøp songs that sound sad aswell. my favorite lyric is “i might be cynical towards you, i’m just worried that my loyalty will bore you.”

track 8- formidable

this song is about josh? i think i don’t know all the details of the lore. it’s a nice song and i think it links josh to how he acted in the choker music video.

track 9- bounce man

this has such a fun tune!!! i think it’s about josh running away. my favorite lyric is “i don’t know if you’ve got your phone, cause this went straight to voicemail.” people are seeing josh on the news and it might have some correlation to the choker music video. it has lyrics about playing one last song, and josh is in the band with tyler. this song is really good but very sad. it sounds a little nostalgic.

track 10- no chances

awesome bass. awesome rap. awesome synth. i saw someone comment on the video that it sounds like a translation between the album trench and scaled and icy. i like the metaphors and it just sounds great. it could be about the banditos trying to rescue someone? i like that is another song that tells a somewhat clear story. i don’t have a favorite lyric for this one but i like their rap songs because it’s like poetry but also sounds good and has meaning behind it. i think the chanting “we come for you no chances” might be the bishops.

track 11- redecorate

the final track, it sounds similar to neon gravestones at the beginning. the first lyric is “taking inventory of my his life” i saw a theory that this points to tyler being controlled. i like the chorus, it sounds nice. my favorite verse is “blankets over mirrors she tends to like it. she’s not afraid of her reflection but of what she might see behind it. she had plans to change her name, yeah. just not the traditional way, yeah. haunted by a couple big mistakes, she covers all the dents with the way she decorates then one night she got cold with no blankets on her bed, so she ripped them off the mirror .. etc” there’s a ton of crossed out words in the lyric video which could hint to more things.

overall this album is great. there is a lot of lore and stuff that i don’t know to much about so take my theory’s and opinions with a grain of salt. this was for fun and i had a good time doing this. idk if you can comment in tumblr but if you have any more theory’s feel free to share them with me.

↬ You were not someone who longed for love. You could watch couples in the campus café and you think that you were happy for them - nothing more. It wasn’t something that you thought about daily, the need to fall in love or get a partner, unlike some of your other friends. You would always joke that your best friend Sojung was a hallway major, always strolling around the hallways talking to boys instead of actually being in the classrooms and listening to the teachers. You, however, studied as a real student would; but after school hours, all your time was spent working out or practicing. 

You were the greatest pitcher in your softball team, and that hadn’t exactly come easily. You had put down a great amount of practice in your younger years to get a scholarship in this college, which was the best one in all of Korea when it came to softball and baseball. But that wasn’t the final goal, only a pit stop on the way. You wanted to become one of the very best and play in the biggest leagues, and this education really helped you on your way. But in order to not lose your scholarship and get sent back to your hometown, you also needed to stay focused in class. Your coaches and teachers had made it very clear to you that they would not keep anyone in school who was failing the classes. Somewhere along the way, you had also become the team captain, thanks to your happy and positive nature that dragged your teammates forwards at every game against other schools. As a team captain, you have a great responsibility and can not slack around to expect everyone else to do hard work, just because you radiate good vibes - you need to be the one who practices the hardest and the most often, and motivates everyone else to do the same. 

So even if you had been wishing for love, there wouldn’t be time. You had to stay focused every minute in school so that you wouldn’t need to study overtime, and as soon as classes ended you made it to practice. And the little free time you had? It was needed to recover and rest your body so you could continue improving and grow even stronger. 

You had many friends who understood your situation. A lot of the girls in your team had similar positions, being on scholarships and needing to focus both in class and on field, but they were all very well aware that you were overworking yourself. Even the boys in the baseball team weren’t working as hard as you. But maybe they weren’t aiming as high as you either. 

There was one boy though who was very similar to you in terms of hard work. His name was Lee Jinhyuck; the baseball team’s captain and also their strongest batter. He was known to be one of the most popular boys on campus, as talent often brought fame - along with something else he had a lot of; good looks. 

Though this was something that might be changing in the future. Not his good looks, that is, but his fame and his status in the team. At least according to your friend Seungyoun, who was a baseman in the baseball team. 

The two of you were chatting a bit as you had just finished your practice, and he was about to begin his. “Well, he’s losing his status. You know Wooseok, right?” he asked and leaned his arm on the wall next to him in the corridor you two were currently talking in. You nodded at him and he continued talking. “He’s dating the coach’s daughter...” 

You couldn’t help but let your mouth hang agape. “Really? That’s insane...” 

“She’s a freshman, aswell...” You chuckled. That meant she was three years younger than you, as you were in your last year in school, a senior. “Word has it that he’s only doing it because he thinks the coach will see him as the best batter. And you know who’s got that position right now...” 

“Jinhyuck.” You were friends with a couple of the boys in the team, including Jinhyuck, though you weren’t really close to any of them except for Seungyoun. But he enjoyed gossiping, so you were aware of almost all the small in intrigues and things going on in the team. It felt almost like you were in fact friends with them, as you knew everything from what their personalities were like and what things they’ve said about their girlfriends. 

“Apparently it’s a cool thing to have a girlfriend, and it’s a cool thing to be picked by the coach. And, well, Jinhyuck hasn’t had a girlfriend ever since Siyeon...” Seungyoun muttered, really stressing the name of Jinhyuck’s latest girlfriend as they didn’t exactly end... well. You nodded and he checked his watch. “Oh, two minutes until I need to go. Let’s talk quicker.” 

You chuckled again. “I don’t really see the problem though. Why doesn’t he just get another girlfriend? Is that so hard?” 

“Well spoken from a person who hasn’t had a real lover in like... ever?” You stuck out your tongue at him. “But honestly though, don’t you know what she said about him? She thought he was too lazy and never wanted to spend any time doing anything other than like, cuddle. So he apparently isn’t really boyfriend material.” 

“Oh, is that so?” He nodded and you thought about it for a moment. From what you had noticed of Jinhyuck, he wasn’t someone who struck you as a lazy type. And he wasn’t someone who struck you as the do-not-date-type either. Nor the not-boyfriend-material-type. He was handsome, had a sweet personality, was fit and was really talented, so you didn’t really understand the fuzz. But again, you hadn’t been in a serious relationship that lasted for more than a few weeks since... You couldn’t even remember when. Did you lack that part that made you understand the dateability of boys since you hadn’t been interested, and since it hadn’t been one of your priorities? 

“Hey,” Seungyoun interrupted your thoughts. “aren’t you going to sign up for prom queen? Apparently the prom committee needs the applicants pretty early so that they can prepare for the voting.” 

You sighed. Becoming prom queen had been one of your biggest wishes, non-sport wishes, ever since you had been really young - well, isn’t it everyone’s? Standing on the stage in front of all your schoolmates, all the people who have voted for you, and accepting the crown, looking over at the person who’s just been crowned king- and right. There’s that problem again. The king. “Well, this year, they changed the rules. You’re only allowed to compete as couples. So first of all, I would need a partner-” 

“Already screwed.” You huffed and acted mad, pushing his shoulder lightly. “Okay, okay, go on.” 

“And second of all, you’d need to be a popular couple in order for people to actually vote for you. So we’ll see how it goes.” 

“I believe in you! You’ll just have to-” 

“Cho Seungyoun! Get your ass on field right this instant, you’re already late!” his coach yelled at him, and he quickly put on his helmet and waved goodbye to you before running away towards the field. You laughed at him as you could see his face redden up as he got scolded by the coach in front of all his teammates. 

You stood in your place for a while, leaning against the wall and thinking about all you had discussed with Seungyoun. Wooseok dating the coach’s daughter just to get an advantage while playing; your failed hopes at becoming prom queen in my last year of college; and Jinhyuck, who apparently is falling in the boys’ hierarchy. 

As you were standing there, lost in thought, suddenly Jinhyuck came off the court and into the hallway you were standing in. He waved at you and gave you a sweet smile, which you answered with a quick “hi”, before heading straight into the dressing room. 

And that’s when it hit you. You came up with a plan. A plan that could help both of you.

(I just finished watching Venom, finally, and I loved it! I don’t know how many people may have already done fics on a similar idea to this, but it just popped into my head after the movie and I wanted to give it a shot. Also Tom Hardy is one of my biggest celeb crushes, so I wanted to write about him.)

Title: Destiny Requested? No. Plot: Your own symbiote, Acid, had a relationship with Venom on their planet, and so when the two find each other, it forces you and Eddie to spend a lot of time together, and that eventually leads into the two of you developing feelings for one another aswell. Word count: 1489

“Acid! Quit it! There are cameras everywhere, I really don’t need to spend another night in jail because of your need to make our lives more fun by shoplifting.“ You whisper yelled to the other entity that was residing inside you. Apparently, when the lab with the symbiotes got breached into, by kids who wanted their own powers after seeing the huge fight between two symbiotes, one managed to escape the compound by morphing with a dog. One of the teenagers brought it with him to serve as protection if they needed it. And the symbiote travelled to find a better host, only to set it’s sights on you as you exited the gym one morning, about half a year ago. Obviously, at first you were incredibly terrified by the fact there was another entity living inside you, and that you compatibility was so strong that you would start dying one without the other if separated. And so you learned to live with it, or better yet, her. If those other guys can do it, the ones who were seen fighting next to a train, so could you. You learned that the symbiotes name is Acid and that she was one of the female warriors on her planet before she was brought here, and so she was fond of the fact that you work out a lot and it was a nice little bonus to your compatibility.

She didn’t open up to you too much however, not really interested in what you think about her life on her home planet, until she saw another symbiote she recognized, after you managed to talk her into leaving the store without shoplifting. To say she was causing you trouble in your life at the beginning would be an understatement. Even though you were a very busy woman, working as a manager of a small company that created ads for brands, working out, and socializing with your friends a lot, she still felt like your life needed some changes and needed some excitement. You even spent a few nights in jail at a time, due to Acid trying to figure out what was it that you needed in your life in order to make it way more fun. And then she saw it, them. “Venom?“ You frowned when you heard her voice, but soon noticed a tall, black creature wondering the streets. He was handling some really bad people in your neighbourhood, some of the most notorious criminals, who prayed on your innocent neighbours along with their illegal business.

“What are you talking about Acid? Who is Venom?“ You asked her as you eyed the creature roughing up a few guys in front of you. You knew you could count on Acid to help you in case you get attacked, but once she spoke, you realized you had no reason to be afraid. Acid sighed and quickly recounted you the story of her and Venom. It seems that the two of them were lovers on their planet and they got separated upon being brought here, and she thought she would never see him again, but now she has him in front of her all over again, and she was unable to believe it. You smiled at her confession, hearing actual emotion in her voice as she talked about Venom, and you ask her if she was just gonna stand with you and watch him, or is she gonna go talk to him, symbiote to symbiote. Slowly you start feeling her form overcome you, and you turn into a lilac form, similar to the one of the black symbiote in front of you, but nobody would be able to miss her feminine curves.

As the two of you approached the scene, one of the men Venom had already tossed to the ground saw you and screamed, causing Venom to turn himself and his white eyes grew wider when he recognized who he was seeing. “Acid? Is that you?“ Without taking his eyes off her, Venom tossed the man he was holding, and he hit the wall of the restaurant building with a thud. He then closed the gap between himself and Acid slowly, as if he was still trying to figure out if it was really her. But when he made sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him, because she didn’t disappear when he took her hand in his, they fell into each other’s arms, and you couldn’t help but smile under her form, as you had never seen her show any emotion other than anger and annoyance before. You knew it didn’t mean that you were kissing the host of the Venom symbiote, but it didn’t make a very big difference really, as the two of you were one being, with two different minds, voices and skins. But you let them kiss, hoping to just be done with it and go back to your old life. However, neither Venom nor Acid had that in mind. Now that they have found each other, they didn’t want to let each other go that easyly, so you were stuck along for the ride. After spending some time ’alone’ Acid and Venom decided they wanted to introduce each other to their hosts and you two also. So your own human form was dominant again, Acid only now having her head appear, developing from your back. Venom did the same, and you could finally see his host. You immediately recognized Eddie Brock, you loved his show and even had an alarm set to make sure you don’t miss it every single time it aired, so it was quite the shock to be sitting in front of him, on the roof of your house, with symbiotes protruding from your backs. And not to mention you practically kissed him while the symbiotes were dominating your form. The moment he spoke to introduce himself, you were smitten by his voice, and you realized you wouldn’t mind spending more time with him, for the sake of Venom and Acid.

“Looks like you’re stuck hanging out with me a whole lot from now on. At least I get to spend my time with a beautiful girl.“ You blushed at his words, and spoke sooner than you might have wanted, telling him you didn’t mind spending time with him. He smiled at your response, while your blush only deepened. At first, Venom talked about getting Anne back, and you found out she was his ex, who was actually about to get married to a doctor she started dating a very short period of time after breaking up with Eddie. And every time you would hear her name, it was as if  you got stabbed through the heart. Over time you started developping feelings for Eddie and all this Anne talk was close to driving you insane. Eddie noticed you roll your eyes one time as Venom and Acid were talking about Anne being alone at her lunch break and that it would be a perfect moment to just have Eddie walk over, ’accidentally’, and spend some time with her. He asked you if you were okay, and you could only nod your head, but he could tell you were lying. Over time, Acid noticed your change, and asked you if you liked Eddie, to which you answered by admitting it to her, thinking she wouldn’t tell Venom, only to turn after finishing and realize Eddie was standing beind you.

Without another word, he rushed over to you and cupped your face, connecting his lips to yours. That’s when you relized he felt the same about you, and you kissed him back, your lips moving in sync. After parting to catch your breath, Eddie told you Anne didn’t want to listen to him explain what happened, she just left him, and moved on rather fast, but you had shown him so many times over the months you spent constantly around each other that you were not just there because Acid wanted to be with Venom, but also because you wanted to be with him. So many little things you thought didn’t really matter, they did to Eddie and it made him realize you were the one for him. Venom was a little sceptical, since he was all on board the ’getting Anne back’ train, but Acid managed to convince him that you and Eddie were the better pair, and that way they would always be together too. So it was settled, you got you man, Eddie got his woman, and your symbiotes got each other, and it worked. All four of you were much happier with this arrangement, your feelings growing stronger by the day. You were a family, somewhat weird, or better yet, totally weird, but a family nontheless, and you were happy.

Ok, how about the UA teachers reacting to a student that really looks up to them. Like they are the student's idol, so the student is always asking questions about them, praises their accomplishments, etc. I hope this makes sense ;^^ english is not my first language

All Might: I mean this probablyhappens to him all the time. That doesn´t mean it gets any less exciting forhim though! We all know he is doing his best to become a good teacher so he´salways happy to answer questions and just give guidance to whoever needs it. Itis a little hard for him to not play favorites when these kids are just soeager to learn and therefore easy to work with. In the end he does love all hisstudents, but it always feels good to know there´s some fans around. Definitelycries when they graduate.

Eraserhead: Contrary to All Might,this has never happened to him before since he´s an underground hero thatdoesn´t like to get involved with the media in any way. He doesn´t really treatthem differently from the others. He does warm up to them when they talk to himabout some of his captures and he notices that they really must´ve looked forhim specifically to find out some of these things. Also, they speak about themwith so much enthusiasm, that he can´t help but feel proud he of all people iscausing such joy in a person. As soon as Shinso starts practicing with thecapture weapon he offers them to join if they think they can handle the extralessons.

Present Mic: He is super excited aboutthis! Especially if this student shares his hyped-up attitude they are going toget along splendidly. Mic works three jobs so he doesn´t always have as muchtime for his teaching as he´d like too but he always tries his best and hefinds himself actually talking to them a lot out of class. If their quirk issimilar to his even better! That means he gets to actually train with them. Andthey get to be very, very loud together. Basically immediately offers them towork as a sidekick for him if they want to when they graduate. They becomepretty close to each other almost like family. They also just scream over thecorridors when greeting each other and all the others are almost having heartattacks.

Midnight: At first, she kinda looks at it asanother student being infatuated with her because of her sexy appearance so shedoesn´t really pay it any mind. But the comments are somehow different than usual.They do talk about how sexy she is but in a different manner than others. Muchmore respectfully and impressed. And they also point out how strong and coolshe is and how her quirk is basically impossible to dodge. She can´t help but feelreally touched when she figures out that they really, sincerely look up to her andwant to be like her. She gets extra happy if her student is male because: “Yeahbaby boy, show them that men can be sexy in a feminine way too!!!”

Cementoss: He´s honestly? So happy?Cementoss is pretty young still and his quirk while pretty impressive hasobvious weaknesses so his fanbase is still growing. He has met fans before butno one this excited to meet him in particular. He´s professional enough to notplay favorites but he is very friendly to them outside of class and encouragesthem to come to him if they have any issues that need solving even though he´s nottheir homeroom teacher.

Ectoplasm: Ectoplasm has quite a largeand stable fan base but it´s always nice to meet and work with some of them,especially if they are capable enough to make it into UA. He has been teacherfor quite a while and he´s very dependable and that´s one of the reasons thisstudent really appreciates being around him. Ectoplasm ends up having a regularafternoon for sparring with them. He just loves watching the growth that´shappening over the years. He´s a very calm and collected mentor making sure hisstudents aren´t trying to rush things.

Thirteen: Thirteen is thrilled to have someoneinterested in becoming a rescue expert. Most of the students are in for the combattraining and defeating enemies in the flashiest way possible. So it´s very rarefor them to have someone that´s truly there to do the less glorious but just asif not more important part to it all. Additionally, of course, there´s the respectthis student has for them. But Thirteen does quick work of that telling them tosee them more as a colleague and not a teacher. They´re quite young still andhaving someone call them teacher is making them feel old.

Snipe: Snipe catches himself standing up straighterwhen he walks into class. Having a fan cheering him on like that makes himcarry himself differently. He does not want to disappoint them under anycircumstances. He´s actually feeling more pressured than anything else in thebeginning. Of course, he would never admit it though. He actually has a heartfelttalk with them at one point where he apologizes to them for being so weird andthey just completely turn it around and tell him that they think he´s the greatesthero they´ve ever seen and how much they look up to him. That talk reallyhelped him to get more comfortable with them and now they have a good teacher/studentrelationship.

Vlad King: Listen. Vlad fucking adores his students. So much. And whenthey return that love he can´t help but feel his heart be moved. He thrives ontheir support to a point where the other teachers are getting suspiciousbecause why is he in such a good mood all the time? Where´s the grumpyexterior? Vlad has a good connection with all of his students but since theyadmire him so much, they end up talking a lot and he gains a lot of insight intotheir personal life aswell. He ends up becoming a father figure for them. Alsocries when they graduate.

Power Loader: In his case, his admireris probably in the Support Course since he works closest with them. He, similarto Aizawa, doesn´t really have a huge fan community but he´s at least used topeople knowing his name. He´s still surprised when he meets a new student that lookslike they are ready to die and go to heaven as soon as he´s standing in frontof them. He´s not used to this but honestly it feels… kinda nice to havesomeone like that around? Power Loader is not struggling with self esteem or anything,but a little bit of praising has never done any harm. He´s at school prettymuch 24/7 so if they want to come by and talk or work together his workshop isalways open for them.

Bonus! (She´s technically not a teacherbut I wanted to add her anyway!)

Recovery Girl: She basically adoptsthem. Healing quirks are very rare and since she´s not getting younger she asksfor permission to take them in as an apprentice. The student now takes extralessons with her and it´s basically already settled that they will be her successoronce she retires. It´s a lot of work but they couldn´t be happier with it sincetheir idol not only works very close with them now but also thinks so highly ofthem and their desire to help others.

Disregarding his quickness to fall his true personality that tends to stay buried a bit is why Deidara DOES trust his partner but at the same time will treat the beginning of the relationship as a test trial just to see if they truly are staying for the long haul

One thing that intrigues him is someone who’s more on the mature side while yes he can often be a bit childish having a partner who’s also childish or petty won’t have a good conclusion since it’s just going to lead to his annoyance but with a matureish partner they could take his occasional childish actions/moods and nip them in the bud since Deidara hates the feeling of being the unreasonable one in situations

Now in an actual relationship Deidara starts off with barely any boundaries for himself, he wants to experience everything that supposedly makes relationships magical and in all probability this is because this would be his first serious relationship considering he joined the Akatsuki at 12 or 13, he wouldn’t have the ability to explore relationships. I am sharing my edits because I hope others find joy in them, so it means the world to hear you like them!! I am trying my best to answer your question as detailed as possible!Before I start editing, I always like to browse for textures so I know what I can work with. I usually have specific ideas in mind, e.g. I want to find a certain style or images to use. What I learned: a good edit depends on good textures. If you invest a bit of time into browsing for textures that will make the ideas you have in mind work, more than half of the work is already done! It all depends on research + and a good amount of textures downloaded. I currently search for textures/images in three different ways:

Texture packs: As a first step I would recommend searching on resource blogs on tumblr, like yeahps for example. Click on their textures tag and browse through! I usually download all packs that look interesting, whether I am going to use it for the edit I am currently working on or if I think it might come in handy for later edits! I highly recommend having a nice selection of texture packs downloaded, it might save some time when you are in need of something specific and already have it at hand. It can also inspire future edits!Some of my favorite texture packs:- Everything by mintyramen, e.g. this one- Everything by planetsbendbetweenus, e.g. this one- Everything by sweettasteofbitter, e.g. this one- Depending on what you are looking for, searching for grunge, scratchy, grainy, … textures always adds a nice layer to your edits. Simply google key words!These are just recommendations! Sadly, a lot of my downloaded texture packs are named something like “Texture pack 1″, so I cannot retrace who provided them. But as I said, start browsing and you’ll find a lot of cool stuff!

Deviantart: If you click on any of the three recommendations above, they will lead you to Deviantart. I recommend searching for similar textures there! There are a lot of recommendations for similar looking stuff on the right side of every texture pack you click on, so browse for stuff that also fits your theme!The same goes for Google, by the way. If I am looking for something very specific, for example the fox I used in my last edit, I google it, click on images, click on similar looking ones, … - until I find something that fits.

Pinterest: This is a source I only started using very recently, but it is SO useful for getting new ideas, inspiration and new textures/images to work with! I also realized that a lot of textures people included in their texture packs can be found here aswell. What makes it so useful is that, similar to Deviantart, once you click on an image, Pinterest will recommend you similar ones. So find something you think looks cool and then browse the recommendations! For example, images like this are pretty cool but hard to find, so just browse what Pinterest recommends and you’ll find many similar things.Pin whatever you think looks interesting & use it as inspiration or for your work! I honestly got so many ideas for my recent edit by just looking at the pictures and I am currently creating a board where I pin everything that inspires me and could come in useful. I highly recommend doing the same!I guess these would be my recommendations for finding good textures to work with! I am still learning so much myself so this might be far from perfect - but I think it works and it’s fun! If you have any questions, need more help or if you are looking for a specific texture, let me know! I want to help as much as I can with the limited knowledge I have. I never understood this about Shadow, why does he even work with GUN?

Finally it’s time for my analysis of GUN, the current GUN commander, Shadow’s relationship with both of them and speculations on the future…………..

warning: it’s actually gonna get……….. really wild. This turned out to be mainly an analysis of the GUN commander because he is the main factor that influences shadows decision but im… hoooo boy.

TLDR;

The commander is a Robotnik and the character development he went through, paired with Shadows acceptance of his judgement + forgiveness of his actions, as well as their friendly bond by the end of the game, gave Shadow the feeling that it is a good idea to join forces with GUN to keep his promise to Maria in keeping the planet safe.

Okay so before we can make out why Shadow would join GUN, we should establish why people think he wouldn’t.

As you said, you can’t understand his decision (very understandably so), therefor let’s sum up why you feel like this, and then I’ll try to explain how all that can actually lead to him joining in the end.

We all know GUN is responsible for Maria’s death, so why would Shadow want to join them? It doesn’t make sense!

Well, you see, it doesn’t. Things don’t always make sense. Not on first sight anyways.

First thing we should note is that the current GUN commander (I’ll talk abt him a lot now) and his family were aboard the ARK during the time that Shadow was created. We don’t know why, as there are no hints towards his parents’ jobs. There are also little hints to GUN actually having employees up there.

It is confirmed that GUN was funding the ARK project and all scientists abroad, they probably had agents up there that would live among the scientists to make sure to report back to the base frequently and keep HQ up-to-date about new findings and development of the experiments.

If the future commander was aware of that, or his parents were part of GUN, is not clear.

Speculative it is to say that he probably saw the GUN soldiers in the big invasion that killed his family (his parents either were scientists that were exterminated so they wouldn’t talk, or they were GUN agents that chose to defend the scientists, or they were killed by the artificial chaos that went on a rampage*) as heroes, since he canonically blames Shadow for everything.

He did have a deep and strong fear of Shadow since the very beginning because he happened to see Gerald and Black doom in a room with Shadow together at one point in time and associated Shadow with the alien ever since. It’s possible he didn’t know about Maria being very close to him, or he tolerated it because it was her.

Okay so… You know how the commander is super inconsistent with the whole family and Maria dying deal right?

SHADOW: Damn it! What does it all mean? These memories… thedoctor’s actions and words… nothing makes sense! Wasit real?

* - The GUN Commander walks up to Shadow, and points a handgun athim.

GUN COMMANDER: It’s been a long time… Shadow.

SHADOW: Who are you?! And how do you know my name?

GUN COMMANDER: I know you… Shadow the Hedgehog. You killedeveryone I loved… myfamily… Maria. I’ve been waiting all my life for this day!

SHADOW: What?! Me… and Maria?

* - A younger GUN Commander and Maria are running in a hall on theARK. He hits his ass to taunt Maria, and she catches up to him.She holds him in place, but he starts running again.

GUN COMMANDER (voiceover): Maria was like a sister to me. She wasthe only family I knew! And because of you… she waskilled!

* - The younger GUN-C gets to the door to Geral’d lab, and looksin the glass. Inside, Gerald and Black Doom are talking nearShadow’s pod.

GUN COMMANDER (voiceover): Witnessing it all… the plan to createthat horrifying evil creature... that black creature, and that insane professor who unleashed it all!

* - As the pod starts to move, the young GUN-C starts screaming.The pod sits upright, and Shadow opens his eyes.

SHADOW: So… the professor created me… with Black Doom?

GUN COMMANDER: You don’t fool me! It’s not just about Maria.Thanks to you, everyone I knewand loved was killed when the ARK was destroyed. Worst of all, myfamily! Finally… justice is served!

I bolded everything that is important to my analysis,,,,

ANYWAYS AS I WAS SAYING.

The Commanders words about his family and Maria being killed are all jumbled. One moment Maria is the only family he had, the next everyone he knew and loved was killed. Among those people Maria and his family.

We have no canon confirmation as to who his family was and why they were killed on the ARK. (Read speculation above again if needed, marked with an *)So what if Maria was his family? What if he was a Robotnik himself?

Who says that he knew about Ivo’s parents?

He might be blood related, or adopted by Gerald.

How else would a kid end up on a Space Station that is primarily for scientific research? Maria and the future commander should logically be the only children up there, because Gerald brought them with him. 

The commander witnessed Shadow’s creation and knows that Gerald was involved in it. He felt a deep hatred for Shadow, aswell as Gerald, for what happened. He mainly blames Shadow for the incident on ARK, but he also holds resentment towards Gerald for having created Shadow in the first place. (”The insane professor that unleashed it all!”)

This would imply that the commander refuses to see Gerald as part of his family anymore after that had happened, which would figuratively make Gerald “dead to him.” Maria would be the only family he had left after that, and she was killed on the ARK.

He was not there when it happened, he was escorted by GUN back to earth while Maria tried to defend Shadow and help him escape. He never got told how she died, he just, presumably, saw her on the list of victims.

This event shaped the commander into wanting to become someone who can protect the innocent from harm and prevent needless death.

We see his compassion in other cutscenes!

* - The Presiden’t helicopter touches down on the landing pad andseveral GUN soldiers run over to it. Slightly later, the GUNCommander helps the President walk to the control room. The Presidentsits down in a chair.

GUN COMMANDER: Sir, are you all right?

PRESIDENT: Never mind me… What about the people of Central City?

GUN COMMANDER: No need to worry, sir. Orders were issuedyesterday, and  everyone hasbeen evacuated to the safe zone.

GUN COMMANDER: So he’s finally decided to show himself. Attentionall command units! Mobilizeall Mech battle sections! Prepare all weapons to strikeincoming vessels! Mobilize “Diablon”!

GUN SOLDIR: But sir! It’s not ready yet!

GUN COMMANDER: I don’t care!! We have NO other option!! We MUSTprotect the President, andthe Chaos Emeralds, at all costs.

* - In the White House, the President is looking at Westopolisfrom the balcony. The sky is dark red/orange. The GUNCommander and two other soldiers come in through the door.

GUN COMMANDER: Sir, your transport is ready. We must go now! Sir,please!

PRESIDENT: Once again… I have failed my duty to protect ournation.

GUN COMMANDER: Sir, it’s not over! We can continue to fight. Theblack aliens may haverendered us unable for now, but we will rally, sir. You  must keep yournation strong and together.

PRESIDENT: Yes, keep the nation united. No matter what happens,we’ll never surrender to these creatures.*looks at the picture of Sonic and Shadow* This much I learnedfrom them.

GUN COMMANDER: Sir, please hurry.

PRESIDENT: Okay.

* - The President and the two soldiers start to leave. The GUNCommander looks at the picture the President keeps on his desk before leavinghimself.

GUN COMMANDER: The black creatures will feel their own bloodyHell!

The commander made sure to evacuate the entire population of a major city that is based off the Washington metropolitan area with a populus of over 6 Million people within just one single day.

For reference I researched how long it normally takes to evacuate big cities in real life.

“At around 10 am on August 28, Mayor Ray Nagin declared a mandatory evacuation of the city, after Hurricane Katrina was updated to a Category 5, the strongest possible hurricane. By the time the hurricane hit, at around 7 AM on August 29, later studies revealed that around 90% of the New Orleans population left. That’s around one million people within 21 hours.

This is important, as we can guestimate just how long an evacuation could take, if we assume that the cities can evacuate at a similar rate to New Orleans. Doing the math, this means that New York City takes around 8 days to clear out, and Tokyo needs around two weeks or so.

Thing is, however, evacuation procedures will likely suffer because these cities are much larger than New Orleans, so you might need to add a few days to them.

So, it’s more likely that NYC and Tokyo would need at least two weeks before the cities could be cleared.”

So he really did something really amazing.

He prioritizes to keep the President and the chaos emeralds safe above anything else and risks unleashing a new and unreliable weapon; and against what you might think- that he’s selfish/doesn’t care about the citizens- the reason he prioritizes the emeralds over people….. 1) They’ve already been evacuated.2) If Black Doom gets all of the Chaos Emeralds there won’t be an Earth anymore. No Humanity. He can think critically and in advance yall.

Also consider how he gives the President hope, not to give up. He’s confident in his abilities as commander, and his his soldiers, to do whatever they can to keep the people of their country, and the entire world, save. And he also emphasizes that the nation themselves should not loose hope, that the President should be a positive influence and stand up against the intruders (the aliens).

He also says he’ll return “their bloody hell” to the aliens, which 1) references his association of Shadow with those aliens and his firm belief that Shadow killed Maria (and by extend his (grand?)father Gerald ?).2) references the fact that the aliens have taken countless of soldiers lives already and that he wishes to return that favour to their kind.

The commander is generally a justice loving person who will do anything in his power to do the right thing. When it comes to Shadow, though, he seems to not have his personal grudge towards him under control and he gets a little extreme with his idea of justice.

GUN COMMANDER: Shadow? Deploy the troops, NOW! And if you findShadow with the black aliens…then kill them all.

GUN SOLDIER: But sir, isn’t Shadow on our side–

GUN COMMANDER: I gave you an order, soldier! He’s evil and he’sthe enemy!

GUN COMMANDER: Alert all field commanders in Sector B. I’mauthorizing full use of alltactical weapons. I want both black aliens and Shadow stopped andburied. Failure, is not an option.

GUN COMMANDER: Hm-hm… It’s over, Shadow. You’ll finally beexposed and eradicated forthe evil that you are.

GUN COMMANDER (radio): Come in, Eclipse Cannon! He must be stoppedat all costs! Take him out... that’s an order!

GUN COMMANDER: Shadow! Damn you! It’s been fifty years… justicewill finally be served.*cocks handgun*

This emotional side of him is a great flaw in a man of his position, but also a great strength.

As we know he confronted Shadow about his hatred and literally attempted to personally kill him.

* - He fires his gun, but Shadow’s now standing behind theCommander, faced away from him, with his eyes closed.

SHADOW: If what you say is true, then I will respectfully acceptmy fate.

GUN COMMANDER: You mean to tell me that, you really don’t remembera thing?

SHADOW: But I just need some time… to uncover the real truth.

* - As Shadow walks off, the Commander looks at his gun and fallsto his knees.

Shadow admits to not remembering any of what he is saying, but that he will take responsibility for those things if it’s true (WHILE NOT EVEN REMEMBERING ANY OF IT). This means that Shadow accepts the justice the commander wanted to serve. And also that he forgives him for being so bitter about it, for being so incredibly angry.

You might think it is because he knows what it’s like to hate someone for killing your loved one and then doing everything to avenge them but…. he doesn’t remember. He doesn’t remember SA2. All he knows is the empty feeling of rage and sorrow, that he can’t really put any context on. (He remembered that Maria died and that he wasn’t able to save her, but he never remembered how she died. This had to be told to him by someone else. Either it was directly shown to him by Black Doom when he uses chaos control to show Shadow the past, or by Doom’s Eye in a cutscene before a boss fight. (iirc anyways because I’ve gone through so much cutscene and script material now that I might mix some stuff up, please correct me if I’m wrong).

Once the commander learns that Shadow doesn’t remember anything and fucking accepts his plans to kill him, he is SHOCKED.

He looks at his gun, as if he’s realizing just what the fuck he was doing, threatening and literally trying to kill Shadow in an attempt to serve “justice”. He falls to his knees in shame for his misguided behaviour. He realized how foolish and childish is obsessive pursuit of Shadow was.

Later in The Last Way when Gerald tells the truth about Shadow and Black Dooms relation and Shadow saves the world….

* - All of the members are cheering and yelling.

GUN COMMANDER: *sigh*

* - The President pats the Commander’s back.

PRESIDENT: How ironic… After the way we all treated him, hesaved us all i the end. We were all wrong about the professor. Let us pay homageto Professor Gerald. Let’s work to ensure peace and prosperity for a brighter future! What do you say, Commander?

GUN COMMANDER: Excellent idea, Mister President.

They feel guilty for holding Shadow accountable for the destruction the aliens caused, aswell as for what happened to Gerald. They plan to reform the way they act in homage of Gerald Robotnik (and Shadow the hedgehog).

Now, it’s not confirmed when exactly in the timeline it is, but the commander does say this, but in Space Gadget (after completing the game I assume) during the training gameplay it is possible to get a random call from the commander which says:

“Shadow, do you read me? First… I want to apologize, for the other day. Actually, I just became a grandfather last week and I was thinking of maybe having you over. I know that training is tough, but try and do your best.”

This confirms that the commander is trying to build a friendly relationship with Shadow now and wants him to be part of his family (again. Since they are both Robotniks.). It could either be an invitation after Shadow already had joined GUN, or, and I think that’s more likely, he wants to discuss that matter when Shadow pays him a visit and they can talk about it in person.

Now Shadow does forgive the commander for his actions, and he accepts that what happened to Maria lies in the past and that it is not the fault of anyone else but the person that shot her, so he can’t be angry at the entire human race for it. He understands it now.

The commander makes a genuine effort to keep the country, and the planet, save; and GUN is an organization that focuses on keeping the world save. Shadow knows that it is impossible for one person alone to do it, so he likely sees this as a good option for help since he’s willing to cooperate with this commander. Due to his old age he would have to retire soon, though, so Shadow would also likely want to be inside that system to have influence on the new leaders in the future, so that GUN does not stray the wrong path again. (Be it shady experiments or useless killing.)

He likely agreed upon the request under the condition that OMEGA could join along with him, as well as the condition that he, OMEGA and Rouge are an inseparable Team that will work together from this day forth.
