a boss and a babe ep 9 moments that hurt me the most
this episode has single-handedly proved forcebook's capability of nailing dramatic, heavy and emotionally-driven scenes. it has been a while since i cried while watching a drama. ep 9 is a mixture of conflict, chaos, heartbreak and devastation that i needed from the story, from forcebook. this episode is very solid in my opinion (acting-wise).
and these are some of the moments in ep 9 that broke me the most:
gun and cher basking in the peace (before the storm) on the rooftop. gun asking cher to imagine the beach (their happy place. their safe space. where they want to belong. where no one judges them. it's them and only them.)
gun's mother looking at him like he's a disappointment. i can't even imagine how many times gun has received that look in his lifetime.
cher selflessly takes the blame for what phi ink did. (why cher? why...)
gun raising his voice at cher. "i'm so disappointed in you." and cher's face. all walls crumble. he falls.
"you're right, phi jack. the boss and i are way out of line. i found the way back, phi jack. i'm walking back to you." — cher saran.
when gun walks past cher and ignores him.
when gun wants coffee but the usual and not the whatever coffee.
"why did you do that cher? it's as if you don't know me at all." — gun gungawin.
starting from part 4 (01:47) when cher's default, happy demeanour shatters. when the light in his eyes disappears. when the smile doesn't reach his eyes. when gun calls him and tries to hold him but he refuses. when they're both crying. when cher says, "it's freaking exhausting, you know?"
when gun's voice trembles as he begs, "cher, please don't say that."

Getting into bridgerton late means finding out people's rancid takes on my beautiful woman Kate 2 years later and being left baffled and peeved. The way people miss the point of her character completely and dismiss everything she has done and sacrificed makes me want to scream.
And if that's not the unfortunate fate of many female characters.. the amount of people that cannot handle complexity and mistakes if done by women even when they mirror beloved male characters...
Mistakes are part of what makes a character interesting, their baggage that held them back and then their growth after finally learning to let it go. If you dislike Kathani viscountess Bridgerton than you better stay away from me because I will let Anthony Bridgerton's spirit posses me and I WILL fight you for her honor

Dying a little bit over Pete being willing to die for Steph in both Abstinence Camp and NPMD. Granted, in Abstinence Camp it isn't super obvious that's what he's doing, but Pete had a badly injured, possibly broken, leg. He was only mobile in the first place because of Steph supporting him. And yet when Lumber Axe is going after Steph, Pete tries to intercept Lumber Axe, and when he can't due to his leg, he starts shouting and flailing and throwing stuff to divert his attention onto Pete. If this had worked the way Pete had intended (he had no idea the magazine would stop him like that), then Lumber Axe would have gone after Pete, and with his leg, he wouldn't have been able to run. He would have been sacrificing himself to give her time to run.
And of course, in NPMD, Cool As I Think I Am Reprise exists. As does the scene immediately following it where Pete tries to fight the intangible ghost jock that wants him dead to keep him away from Steph, which Max breaks his arm for.
Pete would have died in both of these situations to save Steph (probably in vain), if it weren't for wild turns of events taking place to prevent it (the porn magazine frightening Lumber Axe; Grace appearing in the nick of time to reason with him; Max pulling a Hamilton; and Grace fucking a ghost to hell)
I can't believe I'm saying this, but thank goodness for Grace Chasity's impeccable timing and her impressive prudishness for saving Pete and Steph in both stories.

If I had a nickel for every time an angel broke up with his demonic boyfriend in a completely devastating way (that he clearly did not want to do but convinced himself was the only righteous thing to do) in a bookshop, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, if you think about it, but still-

Adding onto my "I Want Tanjirou to be Happy, But He Must Suffer First" Agenda, allow me to share a tidbit of information for the tail end of Sunlit Blossoms...
Manga spoilers below!
So, we all know that scene in the manga where Nezuko regains her human memories and becomes human again?
Yeah, Tanjirou goes through the same thing. But he's also trying to fight it because it's slowing him down. His sister needs him, damnit, he has no time for memories!
And then he got a steel chair of agony to the head while higher powers yelled that he was gonna get his damn memories back and turn back into a damn human, and there was no way outta that.
And then I decided "You know what would really add to this? A direct reference to chapter 1, because I'm apparently evil!"
So Tanjirou, in agonizing pain while his memories are forcing themselves back into his brain and he's transforming back into a human, starts dragging himself across the ground out of sheer stubbornness to get to his sister before she dies...
Exactly like when he was dragging himself through the snow in chapter 1 in a desperate attempt to save Rokuta.

ngl it sort of pisses me off the way adults regard Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen at times. Which could be a very interesting and poignant point in a good way if well written, but as it is it becomes mainly just frustrating and sad in a negative way.
Nanami saying Gojo never cared about anything or anyone other than himself crashes interestingly with Kusakabe saying the whole situation was just all his fault because he refused to kill Itadori. The students are very aware of those aspects of Gojo's personality, but overall they seem to regard him with way more kindness and fondness even when at their rudest, not truly coinciding with either Nanami's or Kusakabe's views.

which flower are you...?
ORCHID:
You are stubborn and you know it. Self aware and hard to impress, you have a close circle of friends and like it that way. You are beautifully unique, with interests that span far and wide. Likely the dark horse of the family, you've always felt misunderstood. You are a creature of habit and avoid change if possible. You are a selfless and giving lover, seeing your partner as the light of your life. Those who are lucky enough to get to know you, would do anything to keep you within their lives. You are unapologetically yourself and value others who are the same. But sometimes, you miss out on opportunities due to your stubbornness and perhaps feel like life is passing you by. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone my love, everyone you encounter there will find you just as exquisite as you always hoped to be.

just something I think about everyday
you guys remember the ending of now way home? Cause I do. And it sucks in the most painful way.
of course we had the lovely moments
The sad moments
And then of course
The devastating part. Oh peter, peter peter. When will you ever learn?
See this is why I can never fully like spiderman or peter parker because he's too dang selfless. I swear though, if him and mj don't get back together in the next one I'm gonna spiritually sue (cause I have no money). And if I even smell the implications of black cat entering the picture I'm never gonna watch these movies again . It literally makes no sense to introduce a new love interest when you have the best one. MJ. I really love zendaya's mj by the way and I love her too cause she really seems like an awesome person. Oh and it also helps when the two main young stars of the movie and on-screen couple are also dating in real life 😏😏😍

Despite its initial promising start, Belgravia: The Next Chapter has become something of a muddle, crammed with what feels like a half dozen subplots that don't get the depth they deserve and a narrative that's all too content to use Frederick's abundant (and annoying) Daddy Issues to as the crutch that propels its larger story forward. Thanks to a bloated midsection that seemed content to retread many of the same narrative beats
— we get it Frederick blames James for all his problems and doesn't trust his wife —the series' final episodes had to rush things in a way that, while fun to watch play out, did a real disservice to the more significant stories of these characters. (Beyond the fact that he is gay, a vicar, and determinedly loves the brother who loathes him, it's safe to say we know almost nothing about James Trenchard.)
After the dramatic events of last week's episode, which felt like it had roughly four hours of plot crammed into one, the Next Chapter finale has surprisingly fallout. Sure, most of the show's outstanding plot points are wrapped up (shockingly) neatly, but two-thirds of the big, highly anticipated moments take place offscreen. We hear about them afterward, and, as a result, this finale feels more like a book report than anything else. (Which isn't what anyone would call compelling television.)
There's a tremendous amount of telling instead of showing, as though the show itself assumes its audience already knows everything generally turned out alright in the end, and the finale needs to run down a quick list of how each of those events happened. Almost everyone gets a happy — or at least a satisfactory — ending, but none feels terribly earned. And it's because we don't see any of the emotional work or growth the show claims has been going on behind the scenes.
......Anyway, Frederick cures his daddy issues by meeting his actual father. Enright's secret letter-writing campaign was to the primarily villainous Bellasis all along. When Enright learns Bellasis is dying, he goes straight to James, and the pair of them convince Frederick that he should meet the father he never knew to get the chance to say goodbye. Frederick does, and Bellasis (in keeping with the episode's apparent theme) says things about being sorry and loving him from a distance, none of which are borne out by behavior he has exhibited in this series or the original Belgravia. But hey, he's dying, so I guess we're meant to be forgiving. (However, he doesn't miss the chance to tell James he's pretty sure he's illegitimate, so at least that tracks.)
On the plus side, the visit to Bellasis prompts Frederick to finally reevaluate his relationship with his brother, who is still Literally the Best Person in the World. The Next Chapter still skims briskly past their reconciliation; given how fervently Frederick has spent most of this series hating James for made-up reasons or things behind his control, it would have been nice to see something more than the younger Trenchard gracefully being the bigger person for the fifth time. But I guess we can't have everything.
.....Lots of things happened between the penultimate episode and the finale, including James' recovery from being nearly beaten to death. I guess his blackmailer took all those threats from Fletcher to heart because the good vicar no longer seems afraid of having his sexuality outed to his parishioners. He also let Emily down easy, telling her he is "married to the church" but insisting if he wasn't, boy, he'd sure consider marrying her! (James dodged a bullet here, no matter how unintentionally hilarious his non-breakup breakup speech is.)
Frederick inherited money from Bellasis but gave it to his brother to distribute to the poor. (Again, the idea that Belgravia decided this character growth is something the audience didn't need to see boggles the mind!) Ellerby got over Clara with a blessed quickness and married his hometown girlfriend, Nell. The pair built a sweet memorial for their lost child, naturally painted by his Bohemian friends.......
