I don’t think Mystra groomed Gale as a child, but rather as a teenager/young adult. That’s my personal opinion anyway.

Gale has been able to use magic since he was 8 years old, and Mystra hears all Magic users. So she at least knew of him.

Please rethink your approach to media and reflect where this idea is coming from.

No one was groomed. It simply does not fit the timeline.

Power imbalances in relationships

Long answer below the fold. Buckle up, grab a beverage of choice, you know how this works.

Media literacy and self reflection This is the most important point. The claim that “they are grooming our children” is a well-documented conspiracy theory, originally weaponized by the far-right against the LGBTQIA+ community as early as the 1920s. It is literal propaganda. Despite a complete lack of evidence—hallmark of how propaganda works—this narrative has embedded itself into various forms of media and, apparently, into many minds. I understand the instinct to protect those we love (even if it's our pixel husband), but I encourage you to reflect on where these ideas originate. Why is your first assumption that a goddess "groomed" a child? To what end? Why would the Goddess of Magic concern herself with such matters when wizards are lined up to seek her favor? This assumption reflects your own thoughts and beliefs, overlooking the reality that gods are not inherently sexual beings. In fact, romantic or sexual relationships between gods and their Chosen are an extraordinary exception, not the norm. Just because something happened that you disapprove of, or because someone you care about was hurt, does not automatically mean that children were harmed or that grooming took place. There is also a Wikipedia article, please find it here. There’s an underlying layer of deeply ingrained American Christofascist purity culture at play here, one that cultivates a profound fear of sex. However, I’ll leave that discussion for another time. Important clarification: Please don’t interpret this as suggesting "grooming doesn’t happen" or "those in power never abuse their authority." That’s simply not the primary focus of this post.

DnD timeline Dungeons & Dragons, the RPG that our beloved Baldur’s Gate 3 is based on, has a well-established timeline and rich canon. The game is set in the year 1492 DR. According to the Forgotten Realms Wiki, Gale is 35 at this time. Elminster’s letter confirms that he met Gale when he was 8 years old, placing their first encounter in 1465 DR. Given Elminster’s status, it’s unlikely that their meeting was accidental—suggesting Gale was magically active at an even younger age (though this remains speculative). Now, looking at the timeline of the Spellplague, Mystra’s former incarnation, Mystryl, was killed in 1385 DR, triggering catastrophic upheaval in the Weave (including the Shadow Weave) and affecting all magic users. The Spellplague finally ended in 1480 DR with Mystra’s return, but it took until 1482 DR for the world of Toril to be fully restored. This means that during the chaotic post-Spellplague years, Gale would have been around 12–14 years old, thus denying the idea she even knew or acknowledged him when he was a child because she simply did not exist. Additionally, in-game dialogue confirms that Mystra was not Gale’s first sexual partner, adding further context to his past.

and he actually enjoys physical sex

We also learn from Gale himself that Mystra was first his teacher before she "in time" became his lover. This explicitly confirms that their relationship began as a mentorship before evolving into something more.

Knowing that Gale had sexual relationships with mortals before Mystra (we all know the "practiced tongue" dialogue) it stands to reason that his experience came from multiple lovers throughout his life. His relationship with Mystra was neither his first nor the one that introduced him to sexual intimacy, reinforcing the understanding that Gale experienced a perfectly normal progression of relationships and sexual intimacy during his younger years before he became her Chosen and, again "in time" her lover.

3. Power Imbalance A relationship between a god and a follower is inherently defined by an extreme power imbalance, where the divine being holds absolute authority, knowledge, and control, while the mortal remains dependent, vulnerable, and limited. The god dictates laws, morals, and expectations, with the ability to reward or punish as they see fit, making devotion an unequal exchange in which followers have little to no means of holding their deity accountable. While such relationships are not necessarily abusive, they can never be truly equal—divine influence is absolute, leaving the mortal in a position of faith, dependence, and subservience.

For Gale, this imbalance defines his relationship with Mystra. Even when framed as love, it is love on her terms—conditional, elusive, and ultimately unattainable in the way he craves. His free will is constrained not by force, but by the sheer weight of her influence. His choices, his sacrifices, even his descent into arrogance and desperation, are shaped by the overwhelming force of her indifference. What he perceives as devotion, she sees as mere mortal folly. The most devastating aspect of their bond is its inherent cruelty: a mortal’s adoration is insignificant to a god who remains unaffected by his suffering. Where Gale offers love, longing, and unquestioning loyalty, Mystra offers only distance, manipulation, and expectations he can never truly fulfill ("She told me to be contented", knowing all to well this does not one of his core traits). It is more than just a bond between student and teacher, or even lover and beloved. It is a dynamic of power and powerlessness, where Gale finds himself relentlessly pursuing a dream of equality that was always out of reach.

My theory on what's gonna happen in EAPS

So Matt, the voice of many characters in eaaps, most importantly Puppet, the cohost, is going to leave the show, stepping down from their voice rolls on February 1st. And while I wholeheartedly support his decisions, I know it will impact the show I've grown to love very much and I am ready for the change

Now onto my theory

My main theory is that Eclipse and Puppet will realize there really is no way to defeat the Puppet Master other than to delete Puppet's home dimension. They go through it and Eclipse brings them back the same way he revived Solar, by changing their dimensional signature. This comes with alot more complications and stuff. Some more complications come up when fixing up up Foxy and he gets a new voice box, same most other characters voiced by Matt, there are many voice box changes due to excessive damage and it not being able to be saved, notably to Moonlights since he's one of the more important characters. This also means something would happen to the other characters voiced by Matt like Lefty and the stitchletes and so on.

If puppet and foxy fully leave the show, or at least just the pizza plex since they’ll both occasionally pop in for games and reactions, they’ll likely move out or not leave their room a long they try to gather Foxys memories and Puppet getting used to existing while not having any magic and not being a Guardian

Now for my feelings on other things

I don't really want the channel to become the Eclipse and Ballora/Ballora and Eclipse show as many people have been theorizing. It's not like I wouldn't watch it, I still would, I love their dynamic, but I feel like with how her character is, it wouldn't be the same. She has had some really good growth and I love her character, but I genuinely feel like I'd prefer it as just the Eclipse show. I think it'd mirror the Sun and Moon show since he’s like a combo of both. But it would put a lot of strain on Davis since he’s a va and one of the main writers, and it wouldn’t be fair to the other vas like Flora(Balloras va). on a lot of the other channels so I’d understand why this doesn’t happen and it does go to ballora or to someone new entirely

Either way I’m excited to see where the show will go, and I’ll also understand it it takes a break for a while in order to get everything settled

EclipseXSun - I think this is the most popular one. I don’t know how to feel about it. On one hand, there’s canon, and canon says Eclipse is and always was horrible to Sun, and that makes it an immediate no. I like my ships healthy. BloodySun, BM X Sun - iiiii don’t knooooooow. See, BM has done a lot of shit, they’ve traumatized the family so much. Sun hates them. It would never work out. But then there’s this one fic, this one, where Sun finds Original crying in the vents over his twin, and he helps them. And— and— and it’s a BloodySun fic, and it establishes character parallels so well, it shows their feelings so well, it makes it make sense! I- I don’t KNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

SolarMoon- ……………. I’m scared of saying anything about this, I don’t want to get death threats

MechShark, Solar X Ruin- YEEEEEEEAHHH CANON CANNOT HURT ME WHERE IM GOING— uh— ahem— I like it. I cannot explain why but I’ve shipped them since Ruin started messing with the arcade machines. I like to see people still shipping it even through the doomed angle, there’s just something about this that makes it click, y’know. I myself have an au where MechShark is somewhat canon, it’s one sided and stays one sided, with Solar telling Ruin he’s aro when it confesses, and then they stay friends. Because I don’t care if they’re lovers or friends, I just like the idea of them being buds.

Eclipse trio, Eclipse X Solar X Ruin- this is actually kinda funny? I don’t know, this feels like a crackship, no offense to anyone, that’s just the vibes I’m getting. Don’t feel in any particular way about this one

Earth X Nebula- interesting, I guess. We haven’t really seen much of Nebula and I can’t really build a concrete profile for her from what we know, but I guess it’d be cool?

KillCode X Sun- I don’t like the sound of this one. KillCode caused (and helped cause) Sun a lot of trauma, it just wouldn’t feel right. That said, there is a fic that has this ship and develops it in a healthy way, and that one I like.

Hot take: The Woobification of Sebastian and O!Ciel-How Beauty Clouds Judgement

Hey guys, it’s me again and I can’t sleep. I have another hot take to share! Once again, please don’t take this too seriously, I’m just talking.

So, I just want to start off by saying that I totally get it. I mean it! We’ve been following these characters for years and we’ve gotten so invested in there stories and we can’t help but want them to win, you know? It’s human nature to want to root for the underdog in some ways. And, O!Ciel kinda fits the mold of underdog when you consider his backstory.

But, and this is my opinion, Ciel and Sebastian are NOT the underdogs. And I can’t help but think that if they both weren’t so pretty, you’d see a lot less people excusing their behavior or rooting for them.

I should also stress that I’m not talking about the people who look at these characters through a complex lense, I’m more so talking about people who are insistent that O!Ciel and Sebastian are good people/not evil.

Like I said, I get it and I empathize with the kid, but the kid is a BASTARD. He has progressively become an awful, awful person and that’s the POINT. And I can’t help but find it boring when people try to strip that away from him.

People feel bad for O!Ciel because he’s been through a lot, which yeah he definitely has. And people are mad at R!Ciel for standing against him and at Lizzy for turning on him, at least for now.

And, again, I kinda get it because we’ve been with O!Ciel for so long and it’s natural to root for him. But, O!Ciel is not the good guy! Lol what’s happening right now is that he’s currently being forced to face the consequences of his own actions. Which, let’s be honest, he wasn’t expecting to ever have to do because of his personal countdown death clock, Sebastian.

I can understand why he told those lies, especially at the beginning. But there’s no excuse for them anymore. He should have BEEN told everyone the truth. Would it have been easy? Of course not. But it would’ve been the right thing to do. While it’s understandable why he did what he did, he still took away his family’s ability to grieve and R!Ciel’s ability to rest, at least in my opinion.

Also, I think it’s important to note that, after a point, O!Ciel started to ENJOY being Ciel. So much so that he’s willing to fight the real Ciel for his own name. Which is absurd when you think about it!

His family absolutely ain’t shit for not only not noticing the difference, but also not doing anything to step in and really be there for that boy. But again, that’s part of the point of what Yana is trying to say in that upperclass Victorian society is/and was depraved, shallow, and mostly evil.

O!Ciel may have been thinking of the others when he made his initial decision but the decision was still selfish. I think that it’s ok to say that; while yes, he suffered from heavy survivors guilt and truly thought that his family would prefer for R!Ciel to come back (and unfortunately he wasn’t wrong), he still, if only subconsciously, wanted the power, prestige, and access that R!Ciel’s name carried.

He LIKES being Ciel now and loathes his old name and position. He LIKES the power, the access, the maneuverability, hurting people when they get in his way, killing those who wronged him, the security of Sebastian’s presence, the ability to make his dream come true (made a lot easier with Ciel’s name), the dark mind games he plays with people. ALL OF IT. He loves it and that’s the POINT.

And Sebastian is a demon. Yes we all know that, that’s not news. However, I still feel like we give the man (entity, whatever) too much credit a lot of the time. Again, mostly because he’s pretty.

Is it possible that he grew to care for O!Ciel in someway? Sure! And I do believe he legitimately has a lot of respect for O!Ciel. But I honestly think it’s more likely that the bastard is hungry and the current events are making him worried that he’ll end up being killed or losing his meal in the end. I don’t think it’s impossible or too much of a stretch to say that he’s grown fond of O!Ciel in someways, but best believe that child is food. Yana even outright says that Sebastian LOVES to see Ciel suffer! Only it’s not so fun when Sebastian is also suffering too, lol he’s a narcissist.

TLDR: It makes sense why people root for O!Ciel and Sebastian. But I think we give these two way too much credit sometimes and there’s an over abundance of people trying to absolve them both of their evil. They are both garbage (lovable garbage!) that are currently facing the consequences of (mostly Ciel’s) actions. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Please don’t kill me.

Effie being the one to make more compromises and catering to Haymitch’s needs is one of the reasons why most post revolution fics about them leave such a bitter taste in my mouth. One person giving up self realization for the other is bound to lead to resentment.

I felt really bad when i posted it, because a lot of people misinterpreted my comment as i was saying that be a housewife was a bad thing or that Effie should have stayed in the Capitol like nothing had changed…and that’s NOT what i think! I mean, she was kept in captivity and tortured for almost a year, of course she wouldn’t be okay after that! Of course she would have some limitations and probably wouldn’t afford a formal employment or anything oficial, but that doesn’t mean she should stay at home sewing and netting like she was fucking eighty years old

I am not asking to make her a CEO of a big ass company and ignore the limitations her mental -and probably physical- condition requires, i am just saying Effie is a city girl who spent her whole life delighted with the overwhelming power of the city and seeking validation by overdoing things! She IS a hurricane, this is a huge part of her personality, i don’t see this going well with a life of just sewing and having sex (even though i can see her doing it a lot in her free time, Effie Trinket would die of boredom in a week if that was all she had to do)

And let’s be racional, she could be happy in twelve with Haymitch, she could have a less stressful life with him and the children, but it doesn’t mean she had to stop being her authentic self and unfortunately this requires a lot of things happening and i don’t see Haymitch coping well with her destroying his house cause she has too much energy to spend and all she has to do is sell goose eggs

She can have a boutique, she can work for Twelve’s government, she can help Peeta at the bakery, she can be a teacher…she has so many possibilities that goes well with a calm like, i don’t know why they need to turn her into a damn grandmother at 36

plus, we can’t say Effie is a Housewife, BECAUSE SHE IS NOT EVEN A WIFE! They don’t even get married! We lost our Effie and don’t even get the wedding and this kills me every time…..

ps: i am not saying all the writers do it, or that the ones who does are bad writer…i just don’t agree with this specific outcome for the character. No need to take it personally

[ * Steering back, I want to talk about Nightmare, and kinda subsequently the way characterizing him in certain was can lead to Dream being characterized in certain ways— and vice versa. So like. Canon Nightmare is supposed to like, evil supreme, just the negative essence left of the human who died with Nim? (Correct me if I’m wrong there!) But, I rarely see people use that strict portrayal. People (generally, from what I’ve seen) don’t want to portray him as pure evil, my guess is people to want him to be like. Dynamic. No one is just purely evil! And the fact that Passive Nightmare has such a shitty situation growing up then just… dies and gets puppeted around for supposedly millennia? Idk, but I definitely understand not wanting to stick with that. ]

[ * So, people (in a general niche sense) don’t want Nightmare to be pure evil. Somewhere around the line, some people don’t even want him to be the villain. Cool, cool, again transformative works! Interesting premise! But who’s going to be your antagonist? What happens to Dream? ]

[ * Dream is supposed to be all that is good, serving the village, serving the multiverse, even at the expense of himself. I’m unfortunately not as versed in Dream’s canon, or at least feel that way, which is kind of ironic. He’s supposed to be the good guy. And again, I feel like this is where we run into that same ‘issue’ of people wanting these two to be more dynamic characters, or just see them act in different ways. You don’t think that someone who is purely good is really just that, no one is. A character placed so high on a pedestal, what is it that makes him snap? What is he was the evil one?! Dramatic gasp! ]

[ * And once more, transformative works! It’s fine it’s cool! If someone portraying them this way isn’t what you want, hit the bricks and all! ]

[ * Part of me thinks that this stems again from the twins backstory— A character being hurt because of others judging them for something they can’t control, something painted as bad and evil, a character we likely see more of (not fact checked, just an assumption) will probably be someone people want to be good more than they want the character who already is good to stay good. (Oh that was probably a nonsense sentence. Sorry-) ]

[ * I don’t know how to end this, or what my point is. These characters are just fascinating. I’m not very well practiced in writing or figuring out what makes a character tick, so this could all be bs and I don’t even realize it! ]

Okay i just wanna know. 1-9 your most the least favorite hashiras? :)

Oh okay! Sure! My favourite Hashiras from 1-9! Please don’t kill me for my opinions! All the Hashira are great personality-wise, some just didn’t have the spark that others had the spark for

1: This position isn’t one Hashira. It is a continous fight between Obanai and Muichiro. I just can’t choose who I love more, since they’re both so equal in character, skills and backstory

2: Definitely Gyomei! His backstory and character had me crying so hard! Plus, his weapon is just so sick, I can’t help but adore the KNY Papa!

3: Kyojuro. A very common fan favourite but I simply love my angels and Kyojuro did win my heart, just like nearly everybody else

4: Giyuu. I love my shy but gentle boys! And he honestly deserves lots of love after all the shit he dealt with

5: Shinobu. She is defs very cool and with a good plotline, a real champion

6: Sanemi. He is definitely very sweet and his fights are great, I love him and Genya

7: Mitsuri. Mitsuri is sweet and has a great personality. But, she is pretty bland as a Hashira with no real purpose of being one, and she is just a love interest and fanservice. Her backstory is lame too

8: Tengen. Tengen is cool and all, no doubt but man could have done SOMETHING during the final fight and he was pushed away, we never got to see his potential
