High King Maglor
one of my favourite headcanons (which probably directly contradicts canon but who cares) is that Maglor is the present high king of the noldor.
Like, after Gil Galads death the few noldor that were left in Beleriand wanted a new king, but the two top contenders were local crown-dodging-champion Elrond Peredhel and Lady "considers herself Sindar/Vanyar/Teleri/anything but Noldor" Galadriel. And so they were kinda at an impasse, until someone (probably Elrond in an effort to take the attention off of himself) was like "hey, technically maglor is still around, and he's like fully Noldor royalty. He even was high king already for some time! Anyways, I'm gonna go fuck off and become a hotel manager"
And people were like "isn't he a kinslayer? I don't think that's a good idea?" But since nobody else wanted the job in the end they decided to just go with it.
So a long time later two noldor Lords have a dispute -probably a linguistic one- and they decide to let the high king settle it. After lots of searching they find him on the shore. And Maglor just sits there, barefoot, clothes torn, seaweed in his hair, having only interacted with crabs and seagulls for two ages, and is extremely confused what these people want from him. After listening for a while he slowly but surely realises that he has been the high king for the last few centuries, and nobody bothered to fucking inform him.

Merlin but Merlin loses it when Arthur dies and instinctively starts a time loop and every time Arthur dies it automatically resets...for angst purposes it could stay tragic..no matter what he does to change the past kilgharra was right. no one can change their destiny nor can they escape it. or by starting this time loop at all he's doing is preventing the rise of the once and future king so by staving off Arthur's death he's actually preventing anyone from ever really living again. a never ending story with one character aware of the narrative but powerless to change it. a puppet with a brain but no autonomy to put it to use. A tragedy of his own making instead the one prophesized
#so that it doesn't work on the first try maybe morgana remembers and interferes or#maybe future Merlin is a sort of apparition that can only act if his old body lets him. he talks to past him like a ghost or demon even#so what he's saying directly contradicts kilgharra or gaius so present merlin probably distrusts him like crazy#merlin becomes another old annoying person in his own ear#who he doesn't even know if he can trust#OR he ends up sending arthur back by accident and arthur is in the past trying to fix shit#and this CHANGES something because now there's warnings of a great ending of all things coming for Camelot and by extension albion#and arthur knowing about Merlin's powers after keeping his knowledge to himself (cos he died RIGHT after learning about the magic)#finally understands the burden merlin had without having to try and understand based on Merlin's summary of an explanation alone#he understands morgana and mordred even nimueh like he GETS it gets it#anyway time goes on canon events are rewritten and the 'great evil' rips a giant hole in space and time and it turns out#future merlin was the cause. because he was smashing alternate realities to pieces looking for arthur is desperation#not knowing where the hell he even sent him breaking any known laws of time and space and reality consequences be damned#arthur cannot kill merlin. he cannot do it. not even for Camelot#so this can be angsty too like merlin loses himself completely in the search for arthur (paralleling the og timeline where Merlin ends up#singularly focused on Arthur's safety instead of his true mission)#and it literally swallows him and their entire known world up#or they get through to him. arthur AND past merlin. seeing that past him was able to diverge from the set path. live more for himself#than just arthur or for the sake of camelot be a PERSON outside of that. and have knowledge that he DID change arthur's mind.#not just as a useless deathbed confession but as something that actively changed and SAVED albion redeemed him of the mistakes he made and#proved that arthur is the man the KING he told every antagonist he was#future merlin sacrifices himself to destroy the black hole he made and it's like that future never even was.#just a bad nightmare you can't really remember.#just thinking about Merlin god bless#bbc merlin#fic ideas

can you imagine talking about anything else the way comic-fanon fans talk about comics?
"the beatles are my favorite band! oh no i don't listen to their music i just look at the album covers and imagine what it sounds like lol."
"star trek fandom is so fun like there's so many series and episodes and reboots that you can just say anything and it probably happened in one of them anyways. and if it didn't, who cares! theres no point in trying to figure out what happened in canon anyway!"
"i love how 90% of doctor who fans all agree that you can do whatever companion with whatever doctor and its pretty much canon because the show is so wild. like, we all just have fun and then some guy shows up and tells you um, 'that actually is directly contradicted by the basic setup of the show?', and then they get offended when you tell them to go away!! LOL!"
"star wars is just too complicated for people to understand - like, are you supposed to start at movie 1 or movie 4? - so you really can't blame anyone for not even trying before they start posting in the star wars tag. anyway here's why i think finn is an angry black man and kylo ren is better for rey"
eta: have been informed this is the star wars experience already. im so fucking sorry yall have to bear this curse too

So... Dick Grayson's Headcanons :D (this gonna be a long post-)
Some mine and some from the fandom!
Obviously not all of them (I don't have all of them in mind right now), but as you know, we will continue to post them here anyway🤙
And I already mentioned some of them before, but I'll mention some of them again anyway.
First I remind you that these are just HC and/or things that I like to project onto the character, you don't have to agree or share them with me, if you don't like one, just skip it please, you don't need to come here to discuss because of a HC of a fictional character.
I also advise that, although I always try to ensure that the HCs do not interfere with the canon, some may contradict it (mostly because I forget certain details of the canon- lmao).
Disclaimer made (?), let's go to it ✨
Dick has the body of a person who does calisthenics, an acrobat's body, indeed, more than that of an Olympic male gymnast.
(Ignoring canon on the first one, lmao). But yes, I like to think that Dick doesn't have as much muscle as Bruce, that way he can keep his flexibility intact, because, no matter how flexible you are, if you have too much muscle, you lose mobility, so, yeah. Still, he have more muscle than the average acrobat, but not as much as a gymnast... Kinda sleeper build.
Many heroes thought Dick was a meta.
Mainly due to his flexibility, others for more silly things like being able to understand Flash when he speaks.
Dick has a very messy eating schedule, He often forgets to eat and sometimes eats twice as much, not because he is hungry, but because he has forgotten whether he has eaten or not.
He doesn't eat much junk food, although he is constantly on a sugar rush. Anyway, thanks to Bitewing he has a better schedule now, since he doesn't forget to feed her, and he takes advantage of the opportunity to eat something too. He still doesn't sleep enough tho.
Although he seems to be the most relaxed in his family, he is the second most paranoid after Bruce.
Paranoia + anxiety, more specifically. He takes it as best he can.
Ironically, despite his paranoia, he is the one who trusts the others the most in his entire family; but he always has a plan in his head in case he is betrayed.
He doesn't have anger issues, not all the time at least... The poor guy is just overstimulated.
Except when he is underestimated for being a "pretty boy", then the anger is real.
He is quick to learn to play instruments given his high muscle memory and keen ear.
Canonically he knows how to play guitar and also some piano.
Although Bruce knows more languages, Dick is the most fluent in them.
Bruce knows the languages, but he makes the typical mistake of thinking in his native language and then translating. Dick does have the ability to think directly in other languages.
When he gets angry, Dick talks very fast and starts mixing up languages, so even though Bruce knows all the languages Dick is speaking, can't keep up because he needs to translate everything.
Continuing with languages, I like YJ's idea of Dick butchering the English language... So, yeah, he actually does that.
But he doesn't do it because English is not his first language (even if he has Romani ancestry, his first language will probably be English, since it was the common language in the circus), but because he has spoken too many languages since he was little, then they get mixed up in his mind and when a word doesn't come to mind in English, he just makes up another one. Sometimes he just says the word in another language.
Another one about languages: even if he canonically only speaks 10-12 languages, for me he actually speaks/understands many more, he's just not fluent in them so he doesn't count them.
He is an AUDHD person, without diagnosis, but on more than one occasion his friends said it to him.
Barbara especially, has been telling him this since they were younger.
As an added bonus: AUDHD is harder to diagnose than ADHD or autism alone, since it is known that the characteristics of each one can diminish or even cancel the characteristics of the other; at the same time, it can increase other traits, but these may be wrongly attributed to other conditions.
I say this as someone from the field of psychology, please don't think I'm making this up.
So, Most of the "weird" things they noticed about Dick they attributed to his growing up environment and subsequent PTSD... Which is partly true, but not entirely true.
He knows too many random facts that no one knows where he learned them from, not even him.
He's on the asexual spectrum, probably demisexual, and biromantic.
This doesn't mean that he can't "enjoy" it, but he definitely doesn't feel the same as he doesn't feel a real attraction due to the lack of connection.
He liked the rain.
It's not exactly a trigger, but he doesn't like it like he used to.
If you understand, you understand.
He doesn't like compliments about his physical appearance, but he responds egocentrically to compliments about his other qualities, although this is to hide his shame, he does not know how to take compliments.
He prefers to act to hide his embarrassment, otherwise he ends up as a bundle of nerves.
He definitely did the thing more than once where he went to Metropolis and jumped off a building to get Clark's attention instead of visiting him like a normal person.
He loves it when his friends are the ones who initiate the hugs, especially since most of them lift him off the ground when they hug him. He'll never say it, but he loves this.
Although he acts like an older brother to everyone, the moment someone older is with him, he becomes an annoying younger brother.
He only does it with people he trusts, tho, since it requires him to let his guard down a little.
This is a very normal trait in older siblings, actually, and most of the time it is unconscious, and it is even more common if they were only children for a long time.
He likes to act dumb so the bad guys will underestimate him.
The bad thing is that sometimes even his family forgets that he is also considered a genius.
Here we ignore what DC did with Dick by making him more focused on leadership, he was always a child prodigy and always will be.
Alfred taught him to clean in specific ways because Dick complained a lot about the texture that certain objects had if they were not cleaned properly.
He also taught him cooking tricks, because otherwise Dick would starve because he doesn't like to eat many things.
He only likes chips... And also football.
It's pretty good in all kinds of art, He may not be a artist like Damian, or a dancer like Cass, but he holds his own in those disciplines as well.
He mainly uses drawing to draw structures or spoken portraits rather than for artistic and recreational purposes.
He only dances at events to which he is invited or any type of mission that requires it.
Tbf, canonically, he does know how to draw and dance, it is the reasons why he does them that is a HC.
He also knows how to do things like sewing and so on, his mother taught him to fix his own clothes.
He doesn't have a favorite color, but he tells people it's blue because it just makes sense to everyone.
He likes to wear superhero merch.
He can't stay in an office for the sake of his sanity, prefers dynamic jobs.
He also changes jobs very often even though he is good most of them, he gets bored.
He took too many online courses, he just never claims certification so it looks like he didn't study any degree.
Sometimes he just sits quietly with Damian watching animal documentaries without a narrator.
He often complains that Bruce never let him have a pet.
He knows perfectly well why he couldn't, he never had time to take care of one, he just likes to complain about it.
He is the one who scares his siblings the most, but none of them admit it.
He is the most stealthy (with Cass), a consequence of his bright yellow coat when he was a kid. Jason is the next stealthiest, but Dick is the one with the "light feet."
He definitely understands synesthesia.
He discussed many times with people about what color Monday is and what number is orange.
Summer is too hot and winter is too cold, he is team temperate, thank you very much.
He listens to music very often, he also sings to himself whenever he is not listening to music.
He knows lullabies in several languages, even those he doesn't actively speak.
He helps comfort frightened small children, and entertains older children with juggling and magic tricks.
His resistance to pain is terrifying, but when he is in serious pain, his childhood accent becomes thick.
He camouflages his childhood accent as an adult, adopting the Gotham accent, but can still use his real accent or imitate any other.
He often imitates the voices of the people he is talking to when they are being hypocritical, or simply to annoy them.
Although he mostly makes bad jokes, he is actually more than capable of making genuinely very funny jokes and pranks, he simply made bad jokes part of his personality since they were the ones that made Bruce laugh the most.
Although he grew up in the circus and knows more swear words than he should, he's not really a person who casually swears. He grew up being around people, especially children, so he knows how to control himself pretty well in that regard.
However, he knows how to destroy someone with words in a much more damaging way than with simple insults, even more than insulting them in every language there is and will be.
He looks pretty all the time, this annoys his friends and especially his brothers a lot.
Cass doesn't care about it, she finds it interesting and kind of funny.
He likes to braid Donna's hair. <3
And this is all that comes to my mind right now, but I will add more in reposts if I remember others, because I know I have more- especially since I didn't actually add HC of him as Robin or Nightwing-
And if you notice any mistakes, sorry, writing too much actually messes with my brain... and my English-
Edit: Here's part 2 :D

This sibling discourse has made me think, have we actually got anything that explicitly says that Toya sees Tsukasa and Saki as siblings or viceversa? I don't recall it, although I think Rui has said something like that about Nene and now the kanamafu 4koma
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, there's multiple instances of Tsukasa explicitly calling Toya his younger brother. These screenshots are from Toya's Bond Between Siblings 4*, Nene's Little Squirrel's Invitation 4*, and Rui's Sudden Trial 4* stories, but there's a couple other instances. In the first he says オレの弟のような存在であり, and in Nene's card story he says 冬弥は弟みたい which from what I understand is just a more casual way of phrasing the same statement (弟=younger brother, ような存在 / みたい= like). In Rui's he says オレ達はいわば兄弟のようになってな, which is still the same idea but here he says 兄弟, meaning brothers.
Tumblr media
Afaik Saki never does this, probably because she's less close with Toya than Tsukasa is due to being in hospital for a lot of her childhood. Toya never refers to Tsukasa as his brother either (probably a personality thing, Tsukasa is more casual compared to Toya who is quite formal and polite), but appreciates Tsukasa calling him such. In the English version of the game, however, he does call say Tsukasa is like an older brother to him in his Bond Between Siblings 4* (the original text is roughly: "He's a respectable senpai to me. Our parents already knew each other, so we played together as children". Idk why it got changed it so much but early days ensekai TLs were weird like that).
Tumblr media
(i don't have a screenshot and sekaibest doesn't have a designated page for mysekai so you're gonna have to take discord text dump)
Rui's mysekai dialogue roughly translates as: "Nene is my childhood friend, we're nextdoor neighbours. We're both only children, so when we were younger, we would play together like siblings. We would make up musicals almost every day, how nostalgic." The word he uses here is きょうだい, which is the same word Tsukasa uses to refer to Toya in the third example I gave, only written in hiragana to be gender-neutral.
It's a bit broader in terms of how it can be interpreted than what Tsukasa says about Toya, probably because they know the Nene/Rui ship is one of the most popular in the fanbase (childhood friend romance is a very popular genre in Japan). While the phrasing is near identical to how Tsukasa talks about Toya, Rui's talking about the past here and there's no indicator anywhere in the game of if they still or even at the time explicitly viewed their relationship as a sibling-like one. You could interpret the sentence as either them having a sibling-like relationship or them playing together because they didn't have siblings to play with.
Tumblr media
What Mafuyu says in 4koma #297 is 姉妹がいたらこんな感じ… だったのかな which roughly translates as "I wonder if this is what having sisters would feel like" (姉妹 = sisters). The statement is in reference to how she feels about living with Kanade. Unlike the previous two instances, this one is just Mafuyu speculating about what it would feel like to have a sibling, and doesn't indicate that she actually thinks of Kanade as a sister or that their relationship is actually sibling-like... even if Kanade is the example she comes up with. As I've said previously, while these obviously have to go through approval, as far as I'm aware the scripts for these comics are written by the illustrator instead of the actual story team. Like, the story team definitely know the Kanade/Mafuyu ship is popular it's the 2nd most popular in the fandom based on pixiv numbers, they probably wouldn't pass anything that explicitly describes their relationship as being that of sisters.
Oh yeah Shiho also goes to call Honami おねえちゃん (big sis) in one of the original 1komas but I wouldn't count those as canon since they directly contradict the game's story and are just done for gags.

Qijiu Findom is Canon
So we've all seen this scene, right?
Tumblr media
This scene is a fundamental piece of YQY characterization to me. There's a lot to be said about how this ties into YQY's desire to protect, provide for, and spoil SJ, but today I am here to talk about how this man would be really into financial domination. I truly can't believe that only one such qijiu fic exists (thank you to kat8cha I owe you my life).
The core tenants of my qijiu findom manifesto are as follows:
YQY doesn’t like spending money on himself
YQY belongs to SJ
YQY loves providing for SJ
SJ would rather take than receive
(Most of this post is more headcanon than directly evidenced, but I think it’s a logical jump from canon!)
YQY doesn’t spend money on himself
This was the starting point of my thinking when I started spinning qijiu findom in my brain back in 2022. Yue Qingyuan, in my opinion, doesn’t like taking care of himself. I think he’s better about taking care of his physical needs to some degree because he’s aware that the consequences of him passing out or qi deviating would affect more than just himself, but his motivation is a.) to be a well functioning machine capable of fulfilling his role as sect leader, and b.) to Not Fuck Up. (One of adult YQY’s core traits is that he lives in perpetual fear of fucking up. More on that another day). Aside from the risk of heart demons damaging his cultivation, YQY doesn’t see any possible consequences to neglecting his mental health.
And so, does YQY really deserve a comfortable bed? Does he really need any nice wall hangings in the parts of his home that guests will never see? The only seemingly indulgent purchases YQY makes are those needed to uphold his image as sect leader, like fine clothes and hair oils. Those are functionally business expenses, because YQY is aware that how he presents himself reflects on the entire sect. (SJ surely doesn’t see it that way— he only sees YQY putting on the affects of nobles and spending money like water, as bad as any of the natal lords in this sect). In the modern era, YQY would come home, take off his perfectly tailored suit, and flop face first onto his bare mattress on the floor.
YQY’s everything belong to SJ
I think that if SJ had asked, YQY would be willing to give him basically anything he owned. Fundamentally, YQY puts SJ’s life before his own. He would not have walked into near-certain death long after SJ became irredeemable to the rest of the cultivation world if that was not the case. Yue Qingyuan literally offers SJ his life.
Tumblr media
YQY would die if he thought it would make SJ happy. If YQY’s life and the sword that is his life can be forfeited to SJ, what’s a bit of money, or the material possessions that YQY cares little for? What’s his is SJ’s, and if it would make SJ happy, YQY would not hesitate to hand over whatever SJ asked for.
YQY likes taking care of people.
Although the fanon of YQY being overly solicitous and constantly pushing gifts on SJ contradicts canon (as far as I can tell, there's not a single instance in the novel of specfically Yue Qingyuan giving SQQ a gift-- at most, there's references to all the peak lords doing so), I think there’s a little truth to it— if YQY thought SJ would allow him to, he would absolutely give SJ whatever he thought the man might like or need. I would go as far as to say that he probably longs to do so. He is a service dog, after all.
Yue Qingyuan most often expresses his affection as protecting, taking care of, or expressing concern for others. Most of his 'wet puppy in the rain' moments in canon are not due to his own misery, but because he is concerned for SJ or SQQ. Yue Qingyuan is bad at existing for his own sake; he is constantly shown to be putting others and the sect above himself, and none more so than SJ. Personally. I don’t think this is just due to YQY’s strength of character. I think he gains a sense of purpose and identity from being the one to protect and take care of others. There is a reason I say YQY had eldest daughter syndrome: he needs someone to take care of For His Health.
Being allowed to give or buy things for SJ, or have SJ use YQY's assets to buy things himself, would fulfill YQY's needs. It would give him vital enrichment. After their long estrangement where SJ constantly ignores YQY, someone as simple as being able to express affection by providing for SJ would literally be a privilege to YQY.
That's all well and good, but doesn't that just mean YQY's wants to be SJ's sugar daddy? Why do I specify findom instead? Well that's where we get to SJ.
SJ's issue with gifts & "unmotivated" kindness
SJ is a paranoid person, and many gifts come with some expectation of reciprocity. I think SJ’s ability to appreciate gifts would be hampered by his immediate unasked question: “what do you want from me?”. While gifts for Peak Lord Shen may pose less of an issue, as he’s able to quickly identify the motives from deference to bribery, gifts to Shen Jiu The Person may pose more of an issue, as the lack of a clear motive besides expressing affection leaves room for SJ’s mind to invent one. Honestly, SJ reacts similarly to most kindness— he himself is so rarely kind without a motive, so it’s hard for him to imagine that others might not be the same. (Any kindness Xiao Jiu showed his Qi-ge doesn’t count— SJ was only protecting what belonged to him 😤).
Because of this twisty brain maze he’s made for himself, SJ is far more comfortable taking something than receiving it. SJ learned as a child that he will be given nothing, and that taking things is necessary for survival, and he had no compunctions about it. Taking is an act of initiative and aggression: taking is winning. I actually think this is how he framed begging in his mind— by thinking of it as tricking people, he gets to feel like he’s won or stolen something, rather having to linger in the pity.
Gifts, affection, and love can all be given this treatment. If SJ tricked YQY into loving him and must now cling to his rightfully earned possession, SJ needn’t address his own feelings. If YQY’s money is something SJ takes, he gets to feel like he’s taking advantage of YQY instead of having to feel like he’s reliant on YQY or like he's YQY's charity case.
SJ is a massive control freak, and he is always most comfortable in a relationship when he can tell himself he’s in control of the  dynamic, even if that makes the relationship appear unhealthy to an outside observer. Once YQY catches on to this, he would do absolutely everything he could to accommodate SJ (without SJ realizing he’s being accommodated ofc).
In short, YQY leaves his wallet on the nightstand, SJ takes or “steals” it and buys some overpriced designer good he doesn’t need, silently daring YQY to challenge him on it, and they both feel fulfilled by this.
This is what peak performance looks like.
(Side note: there are a couple other ways to execute a findom for dynamic for qijiu! The main two I can think of are "Stupid Qi-ge’s money is so easy to steal: obviously I must steal it First, and use it Better, to Protect Him." and "Stupid Qi-ge is languishing/never takes care of himself. I must take his money and use it to force him to do self care." My tastes run angstier tho 😂)

A Very Rambling Rant about Alhaitham and Aranara
Tumblr media
Sigh. Everyone on twitter is all excited over this idea that Alhaitham can see aranara, and I don't mean to be downer but like... I kind of hate this. Not the idea of Alhaitham seeing aranara, which is very cute, very nice, yes, but more the way this kind of thing unfolds.
It's a classic example of unconfirmed material, extraneous to the actual game, getting put out on social media like it's canon: Someone tweets "ALHAITHAM CAN SEE ARANARA!!" and suddenly it's running rampant in the fandom and people are completely convinced it's canonically true, without the actual game or any confirmed story-relevant materials genuinely supporting the idea. This is exactly how misinformation gets spread. (I'm looking at you, "Jade enslaved Aventurine" Star Rail fandom brainrot.)
And it's this "bandwagon canon" that leads to constant issues in the fandom when people point out that even some widely accepted stuff is actually fanon. People are literally vicious over defending things that don't actually have any evidence in the game itself.
I really wish this fandom was better at distinguishing "This thing is factually true" and "This is a really cool idea and there might be a few hints for it! I'm going to make this my headcanon!" Watching stuff in fandom go un-fact-checked genuinely makes me terrified for people's ability to fact check real world issues sometimes!
Not to mention the way this conversation is happening is just really unpleasant too?
I saw multiple tweets with thousands of likes going around saying things like "Of course Alhaitham can still see the aranara; he has child-like wonder while Kaveh is traumatized and had to grow up too fast, so it makes sense he can't see them."
Which like... This is so gross to me? Are these people just missing the massive unfortunate implications of their own words--the idea that traumatized people can't experience wonder for the world anymore? That they're somehow broken and can't experience any child-like joy??? It's a deeply unpleasant take to me.
And not only that, it directly contradicts actual canon, because Yoimiya's entire second story quest was about a girl going through a traumatic illness that confined her to a wheelchair and led to her experiencing guilt and depression--and about helping her to see that everything that made life worth living was still there for her, and that she had never lost her wonder or will to live in the first place.
Tumblr media
And the whole thing just smacks of a fundamental misunderstanding of why adults can't see the aranara in the first place. It's not because there's some sort of magical "You must be 18 or younger to see aranara" rule. It's because the aranara themselves choose not to be seen by adults. They protect themselves by making themselves invisible. They're not invisible by nature! Everyone can see them--when the aranara want to be seen. Conversely, this means that adults with "childlike wonder" are not just automatically seeing aranara left and right. No matter how happy and childish at heart an adult is, they will only see an aranara if the aranara personally trust them and want to be seen.
The aranara trust children because children are generally good-hearted (and also probably easy to escape from), so there is usually no need to keep themselves invisible to children, but even among children, they are invisible until they choose to be seen. (I think everyone forgot the quest where you find the child who was kidnapped by the Fatui in the forest, saved by an aranara who chose to reveal itself to her, but then she refuses to go back to the village, so you leave her at the aranara nursery--only the aranara there at the nursery choose not to reveal themselves to her because they don't know her yet.) Even with children, aranara don't just go running up on them--they're incredibly cautious creatures who only show themselves after they're sure they'll be safe. They distrust adults because adults deliberately use "growing up" as an excuse to abandon simplicity, kindness, and gentleness in order to embrace concepts that include getting ahead of others and seeking profit--two things which could be particularly dangerous for a vulnerable forest fairy population.
There's also an extremely complicated intersection between the aranara and memory, as they represent and upon "death" return to being the forest's living memory itself. Avin, the girl in Yoimiya's story quest, is a child--but still loses the ability to visit her aranara companion because her illness keeps her away from the forest so long that she simply forgets her aranara buddy ever existed. Even aranara who would love to continue playing with their human companions find themselves forgotten over and over again, because they simply don't linger in human memory well. It's a giant metaphor for how fleeting and temporary human existence is in comparison to the natural world! It's a metaphorrrrrrr.
Tumblr media
(There's also the fact that aranara freely move between reality and dreaming--something which Sumeru's adult population only recently regained the ability to even do.)
And like... does no one remember that Yoimiya could only see the aranara because Traveler was there to introduce her to them? She doesn't just automatically see them even though she has all the childish wonder possible in her heart.
Tumblr media
I even saw tweets saying that anyone who thinks Alhaitham doesn't have child-like wonder in his heart and wouldn't automatically be able to see aranara fundamentally misunderstands his character and I just... First, see the point above--this is already a misunderstanding of how aranara work.
Second, am I just crazy, or is there absolutely nothing about having wonder and curiosity and passion for the world around you that is confined to children? Are we really going with "Having an imagination is for kids" as our takeaway from all this?
Alhaitham absolutely is passionate! He loves Sumeru as much as Nahida does! The mysteries of the world fascinate him, and he wants to be doing nothing more than ravenously learning and taking in new information at every opportunity!
But finding wonder and joy in life's mysteries is absolutely not restricted to children!
There's nothing inherently "childish" about loving fiction and the fantastical world of books, having a vivid imagination, being passionate about learning new things, and just plain out enjoying life. I'm sorry everyone else has apparently become such miserable adults that the only way they can believe Alhaitham finds joy in the world is by assuming he must have maintained a "child-like" inner nature. Please go read more books and touch more grass and maybe you too will experience adult wonder and joy???
Alhaitham's vivid curiosity about the world isn't remotely "child-like." It's based on the same sort of philosophical obsessions that drove Plato and Aristotle to redefine human thinking. To Alhaitham, Sumeru is likely much more vivid and beautiful and full of intrigue because he is now an adult who has the ability to freely think, formulate deeper questions, and the means to pursue research into his personal passions. His teaser trailer is literally about how he took the job of the Scribe because the Scribe records truth--not child-like faith in the magic of the world, but a constant unfilled yearning to get closer and closer to what is real.
If Alhaitham can see aranara, it's because he's earned the trust of the aranara by his deeds, not because he's secretly still an innocent, sweet baby boy deep down who has chosen not to grow up. (And like, if "traumatized people don't see aranara" is really what we're going with, are we actually arguing Kaveh is the only traumatized, "grew up too soon" one here? Did everyone just forget Alhaitham is an orphan with zero surviving family members left in the world and that he spent his entire childhood friendless, at least as far as we've been shown?)
Winning the trust of the aranara is something anyone could do if they show strong enough positive traits--just basic kindness, gentleness, and patience, which I promise you, adults can have.
At the very least, if we're going to suggest Alhaitham is child-like, can't we at least point to his actual childish behaviors, such as constantly pulling Kaveh's pigtails like a schoolboy with his first crush? Throwing hands with anyone who pisses him off too much? Being a jokester who continually sends Paimon books because she picked on him for his choice of reading materials once? At least y'all could have started there... Come on, now.
Phew, this really was a whole rant, but I just needed to get that off my chest. The Hoyo fandoms on twitter are so, so bad. Like man, don't claim people are mischaracterizing someone while not even knowing the lore yourself... Sorry if that sounds harsh, but...

people trying to explain away all of the ways in which The Last Jedi ignored or actively threw away various pieces of plot set-up in The Force Awakens never cease to amaze me because like...what do you mean the map that the entire plot of TFA revolves around was always meant to be "just" an Unknown Regions star chart that happened to have Luke's exact route to the first Jedi Temple on it?
Like that's not what the movie says! That's some explanation someone else came up with to explain it after the fact because TLJ chose not to follow TFA's set up with the map!
The Force Awakens says there's a map "to Luke." Not to the Temple, not to Ahch-to. To Luke. Han says "the people who knew him best" (aka, himself and Leia, and possibly Kylo depending on how he learned the information and started pursuing Luke himself via downloading the old Imperial Archives' map database) think he went looking for the First Jedi Temple and that's probably where the map leads to, but the map itself (held by R2, in powered-down mode to protect people from getting it until the time was right, with the missing piece found by Lor San Tekka and held by BB-8 throughout the movie) is canonically repeatedly referred to as "the map to Skywalker." The movie, script, and novelization all but outright state that the map is Luke's map and Luke's specific route to wherever the hell he ended up.
Rian turning around in TLJ and having Luke say that he "came to Ahch-to to die" and "never wanted anyone to follow him here" is nonsense that directly contradicts the entire plot of TFA, and then everyone after him had to come up with something to write around it and explain why we spent an entire movie looking for a map that Luke left behind and led straight to him if he never wanted to be found.

so, about that death certificate
OR: Revek is a hater for too many words straight. Sorry about the negativity. This is technically a continuation post from the two I made [1] [2] about Jason's death.
Tumblr media
This is Jason Todd's death certificate. We've all seen it. As far as I can tell it's from The Batman Files, a book of sorts that compiles in-universe documents--"Bruce Wayne's secret journal."
This fucking thing sucks. And I HATE it and it's WRONG. The information in it blatantly contradicts canon, and on occasion even blatantly contradicts the cover-ups in canon. Let's break it down:
Dying "in Bristol County and the City of Gotham"
No he didn't
No, he didn't, not even in the cover-up version of events
As we all know Jason died in Ethiopia (or Qurac, or Bosnia, depending on adaption or comic continuity). He does not die in Gotham unless we're digging into deeply removed elseworlds like the HBO's Titans (2018).
Within post-crisis (which is where we're living, given that the publication date for The Batman Files) Bruce literally tells Ethiopian authorities that the kid who died in the rubble was Jason Todd.
Tumblr media
Bruce is basically pretending Jason died in an accident here. An accident in Ethiopia, not Gotham. Getting Jason a death certificate from Gotham in general is just??? Wrong??????
Aside: Bruce should probably be concerned about the Joker potentially making the connection between the Robin he beat and blew up in a warehouse in Ethiopia with the Famous Gotham Billionaire Bruce Wayne's adopted son Jason Todd blowing up in a warehouse in Ethiopia. But Batman also later beats up the Joker while screaming Jason's full name at him, so... secret identities who?
Jason Todd's height and weight
The numbers (4'6" and 87 lbs) are pulled directly from one of his character info pages from the 80's. Namely, one written when he was still alive. When he was... you know, still growing. Yes he was 4'6" at some point in his life, which most of us were!! That doesn't mean he's that small when he died.
On the other info sheets, he's 5'2" and 105 lbs (pre-crisis) and 5'0" and 110 lbs (post-death). In The New Titans #55, his height is listed as 5'4".
Tumblr media
Yes, other sources about Jason's height are inconsistent! There isn't a right answer but 4'6" is pretty clearly a wrong one.
Tangent about I, MORTIMER GUNT, City Coroner
Mortimer Gunt is apparently an actual guy in the DC universe. His job is listed as mortician. MORTICIANS ARE NOT CORONERS. Why is he listed as City Coroner!!! Coroners are elected officials who determine cause of death, morticians are the ones that prepare funerary arrangements.
(Coroners also do not need to have a degree, are distinct from medical examiners/forensic pathologists, and there's many an anecdote out there of coroners fueling conspiracy theories and helping cops by providing inaccurate information about cause of death, but that's a discussion for another time.)
"Asphyxiation due to smoke"
Death of the Family (Batman #428) has Bruce stating that Jason's corpse is already "cold to touch" by the time Bruce reached him
Deadman: Dead Again (Issue #2) has Jason immediately appear as a ghost after the explosion
Red Hood: Lost Days (Issue #2) has Jason's vision go black as the rubble falls on him from the explosion, and then the darkness lifts upon him crawling out of the grave
While the first is clearly incorrect (corpses take like 24 hours to cool, not minutes) all of these imply that Jason died in the explosion, not afterwards due to the smoke from it.
Sheila also died from, presumably, explosion-related injuries, since there's no visible smoke on panel when Bruce is talking to her, nor is Bruce wearing a respirator or rebreather of any kind (though he probably should, tbh). Sheila was less injured, further from, and also shielded from the explosion by Jason. The explosion killed Jason.
We can argue that "asphyxiation due to smoke" was part of a cover-up--after all, it's a lot easier to explain that Jason died in an accidental house fire or something, instead of the getting beaten and murdered thing.
I am okay with this. This would, however, still make it not how Jason actually died.
(If you want cigarette smoking angst with Jason please please please use the fact Sheila was smoking as she when Joker was beating Jason with the crowbar. Pleaseeee. On my hands and knees. You should use that you should use Jason getting betrayed by Sheila and still calling her mom anyway and smoking the same brand of cigarettes as she was when she lead him into a death trap and looked away pleaseeeeeee)
Miscellaneous complaints: I am extremely pedantic about things that don't matter
Hair color-
The Batman Files were published in Oct 2011, which is after the entire Batman and Robin run that retcons Jason into a redhead. The death certificate still lists Jason's hair as black. Pre-crisis Jason was also ginger (NOT blond. I will fight you on this.)
When the death certificate was filed-
Ethiopia is 7 hours ahead of New Jersey. A flight between Ethiopia and New Jersey takes... somewhere around 13 hours, based on quick searching I didn't bother properly verifying. So that means whatever time Bruce leaves Ethiopia, he's landing in New Jersey six hours later in local time.
Tumblr media
(Batman #428) Bruce is still in Ethiopia at this point. If he means the night of April 28th, by the time he gets back to the East Coast on any flight, it's already going to be the 29th, so there's no world where Gunt files the death certificate on the 28th.
If he somehow means the night of the 27th, well. I guess there's time.
Age-
Given that Tim's 16th birthday was in July 19 in Robin #116 and Jason's 18th birthday was in August 16 in Detective Comics #790, their age gap is hard-coded as 1 year and 11 months.
Given that Jason died in April, which we're all running with, and Tim is thirteen in LPoD, this means that Tim staged his Robin intervention less than 3 months after Jason died. Presumably the timeline is even tighter than that because Tim says that he's thirteen instead of almost fourteen. Not a lot of room to breathe! I like to solve this by making it so Jason died at 14 and 8 months, so Tim comes into Bruce's life a few months later, when he's had more time to wallow in the suicidal self-destructive grief that makes him punch people too hard. Which would mean the death certificate is wrong about yet another thing, but I know I'm reaching at this point.
In conclusion
Even if we pretend this is an in-universe document and thus will be unreliable and lie to you in that sense, it still gets basic information wrong. If we do pretend this is an in-universe document that is unreliable and lies to you, then we should not be trusting anything it says, because billionaire Bruce Wayne has shown he'd love to obscure the truth of what happened to Jason Todd, in universe.
Death certificate bad and wrong. The end.

I've seen an opinion on Tiktok (shudders) that Regulus shouldn't be soft. That the only biblically accurate version of Regulus is a BAMF, and look, I get it. It's fun to read and I love OTB where he just gets to dish out his personal brand of justice (it's my favorite jegulus fic, in fact), but is a badass Regulus biblically accurate?
Somehow, I doubt it. First, Sirius literally calls him soft. "My idiot brother, soft enough to believe them." Granted, he's an unreliable narrator through the eyes of another unreliable narrator, but we can glean from the context Regulus probably joined Voldemort to impress his parents. To show them he was the 'good son', obedient and receptive to their wishes and opinions.
Canonical Regulus was a people pleaser, simple as that. It was only after a brutal reality check that he reassessed his beliefs and grew some spine to shake his upbringing and do what was right, not what he was taught.
Second, in a lot of fics, Regulus is an abused child. The degree of the abuse varies, and tbh I don't think the Blacks were physically or magically abusive toward their children (the abuse was more likely manipulative and psychological in nature).
Which can do just as much damage as physical abuse, of course. Possibly worse because it's not visible, so it's easily overlooked.
Abused children don't usually grow up to be badasses. They grow up to be a little broken, quiet, and yes, people pleasers, (and sometimes serial killers). They also need a ton of therapy to overcome their baggage.
I get that this is fanfic, and it doesn’t need to be realistic, and it's fun to explore various scenarios and what-ifs.
But claiming that a single version of a character that directly contradicts canon is the only right one seems wild to me.

my view of the marauders' parents !!
james: euphemia and fleamont my LOVES <3 i think they're obviously very open and understanding, but i reckon they still had their issues. james was such an independent child that they kind of thought he could take care of himself and sometimes all he wanted was his parents. not that they weren't there, they just didn't realise they had to be.
sirius and regulus: quite obvious, they were very abusive BUT they loved their children. they were caught in a cycle of abuse and had no idea how to show the love they felt for sirius and regulus as it had never been shown to them. there are no excuses for abuse but if there's any explanation it's theirs.
peter: his parents loved him and wanted what was best for him, but they sort of lived vicariously through him and so projected all their goals onto him and unintentionally made him feel like a failure.
remus: seemingly unpopular opinion but lyall and hope were both great parents. lyall loved remus SO much. i reckon he was quite stoic and didn't express himself very well, but he loved remus and hope more than anything. hope tended to dote on remus, as a lot of parents of children with disabilities/illnesses do (*cough* speaking from experience as an autistic person *cough*). she was a little overbearing, but she meant well.
lily: someone said something about her parents being religious and that's stuck with me. i don't think they would be okay with her being queer, and i think their love always feels conditional to her. i think at some point they start to favour petunia because she does everything expected of her, which is the final straw in pulling the sisters apart.
marlene: in my head she's a halfblood and her mum is very religious as well. i think she has a bunch of siblings (like five) so her parents' attention always feels divided. they're not bad parents necessarily, but marlene would be so ready to move out (okay this might just be tcoptp marlene).
mary: i feel like she's a halfblood and her mum was the witch, but she died, so mary's got a muggle dad, step-mother and step-sister (stealing from tcoptp again) and she just feels really ignored, like her dad stopped caring after he met her step-mother. she's a daddy's girl at heart tho. also she has a little brother who's only a year younger than her named eric (referencing my own fanfic here :3).
barty: barty crouch sr. when i catch you barty crouch sr. his dad has insane expectations for barty yet doesn't show any pride when barty actually achieves these goals. normally he's more neglectful than abusive. his entire life is his job, and he doesn't show any love for barty or his mum. barty spent so long just trying to make his father proud, but at some point realised he never would, so he did everything possible to rebel against him. barty's mother loves him so much, and the only reason barty doesn't run away is because he can't leave her. they're very close but barty sometimes feels bitter that she doesn't stop his dad from acting the way he does (but he knows realistically there's not much she can do).
evan and pandora: think what you will about their parents, in my head they are loving, silly, and strange. they enable evan and pandora to do all their little experiments and fun things because they're the exact same way. they're the effie and monty of the skittles. they definitely dote on felix, and it sort of seems like they favour him, but they just feel guilty because both of his older siblings are away all of the time and so he's on his own. they're a little unhinged, probably the type of parents to ask their kids' friends weirdly invasive questions, but they're just odd.
emmeline: for some reason i have this hc that emmeline and barty are childhood friends. i don't know any canonical information about emmeline, so idk if this is directly contradicted in any way, but in my head emmeline's dad works at the ministry which is how emmeline and barty know each other. emmeline's dad is quite strict and overprotective, and her mum sort of lives vicariously through her. emmeline sometimes feels a little suffocated around them, but she's close to them since she doesn't have to see them very often. if she was living with them full time, they would definitely have a tense relationship. also emmeline has a younger sister who starts hogwarts when she's in fifth year.
dorcas: her mother had her when she was really young and her father wasn't ready to raise a child so she raised dorcas alone. she blames dorcas for ruining her life, since she'd had loads of dreams and plans she'd had to put on hold for dorcas's sake. dorcas has a really strange relationship with her because sometimes she's really loving, and the next second they're screaming at each other (dna guarantee is literally their song btw).

As I tried to write up the meta about "why" the writing has problems in Secret Relationships, I found myself too often writing "unless XYZ" happens. After all, we know there will be many reveals and outright surprises in the next two days. The format/narrative structure of the show demands it. I decided to leave those points off the table for now. I'll give a more detailed analysis after all of the reveals are out.
To be clear - I'm here for this messy show. I don't waste my time writing about shows I'm not enjoying. I've bought popcorn kernels so I can make the good stuff this week (that's rosemary infused popcorn for me), and I'll just ride along in the insanity.
Tumblr media
Because I now have a notebook filled with timelines, venn diagrams, character breakdowns, etc., but I couldn't predict a single thing that might happen moving forward. I don't trust the writing and it's a makjang after all. I told someone in a DM that this show is like riding one of those high thrill amusement park rides that takes place in the dark.
The framework is so open currently that you could build just about anything on it. It's also those very problems that have prompted so many discussions about this show. If it had clean writing would we be discussing whether Da-on was a doormat? Debating whether Sung-hyun had good intentions or not? Creating head canons on what went down in the past? Probably not.
But as we approach these final two episodes, I'll leave you with just the thoughts I know to be true.
There are too many critical scenes/pieces of information from the backstory that we don't have yet that are actually required for certain parts of the narrative to be complete (without writing head canon). At the rate this show gives information, we will NOT get all of them. The question is just - which pieces do we get?
The writing is inconsistent. There is more than one example of when the writing either directly contradicted itself or did something that there's no good explanation for at the moment (without head canon). I'm not talking about any of the reveals, attempts at partial viewpoints, parallels, etc. I'm talking about the basic moments (like bar scenes, delivering the congee, etc.). When you can't nail the basics, then it makes it harder to trust the show's writing for the hard stuff.
The lack of true character building is a problem (for some of us) in interpreting the dialogue. We don't really have a good grasp of our character's motivations. The show tells us certain things, but it's been left up to us to write meaning into it. It's why there are so many very different, incompatible interpretations of these characters. It's why people are going to war over certain characters. Essentially, each of us is writing fanfiction in our head to make it make sense. For many people, that's probably not an issue. For some of us, it is.
I'm very comfortable with layering & parallels, partial viewpoints, reversals & reframing, flashback reveals, etc. Most of my favorite shows use those narrative tools. This show is pulling from that toolbox, but you could argue that it's not consistently using the tools correctly. That really depends though on what's to come in the next two episodes. Anyone want to place bets? That's the part of my analysis that has to wait until everything is revealed.
I should also clarify - saying "It's Jae-min's fault" or "Su-hyeon is violent" is not a good enough explanation for me for why things have happened or how characters (like Da-on) have reached this point. That's a multiple choice answer. I'm obviously an essay kind of gal. I get the gist, but I want MORE.
With that in mind, I'll leave you two examples of why/how the writing is causing problems.
Da-on is an enigma. It's purposeful, but it hurts our understanding of him.
At one point, I had described Da-on as someone who lets things happen to him. But if you watch, he takes action pretty frequently. We're just not privy to his thoughts. To be clear - he HAS them. We just don't know what they are. The story is really told from the viewpoint of our suitors in a lot of ways. @incandescentflower described Da-on as "a reaction emoji" and that's more accurate than you might initially think.
Take the "running to the apartment" scene in episode 3.
We know what Sung-hyun is thinking here.
Tumblr media
We know what Su-hyeon is thinking.
Tumblr media
We know what Jae-min is thinking.
Tumblr media
But we don't have a CLUE what Da-on is thinking.
Tumblr media
He's on his phone. He's looking at ..... ? He's been dropped off, but he has no idea that anyone is coming. A simple reveal at any point of what he was looking at on his phone (even if it's meaning was obscured in that moment) would give us insight to his thoughts. It could have built meaning into later dialogue or actions. But it didn't. Just like we don't really know what Da-on was thinking when he tied Sung-hyun's tie, why he agreed to go to the movies, etc. We know what Sung-hyun is thinking in those moments. We normally know what Su-hyeon and Jae-min are thinking too (in the modern timeline, the past not so much). But there are numerous moments in this show where Da-on makes a move, and we really don't know why he makes that move or what's he thinking. We just see the move itself. (There are a few exceptions to this statement.)
I actually think it's purposeful. The show wants the cathartic release of big moments where you get Da-on's thoughts. Da-on's "I'm embarrassed" is actually an example where they did "the moment" fairly well. But most of these moments have not been as direct or executed as cleanly ("I shouldn't have said it", "this is who I really am", "it feels like I'm looking at myself"). It's every viewer left to their own interpretation (for now), and y'all have been delivering that in spades. I've loved reading it. Bring me ALL the thoughts 🧐. For myself, I've written a lot of head canon in the past few weeks. 😂
2. Sung-hyun is divisive. But I don't think the show meant him to be.
I've said before - I truly believe Sung-hyun is meant to be a straightforward white knight. It's not an uncommon archetype in makjangs. Everything in the lighting (which this show does play with), framing, parallels, and even certain narrative cues tells you that. The next two episodes could prove me wrong, but it seems he's been cast as the "good guy" operating without secrets and in the open. I'd even argue that he's meant to be better than Da-on.
But he makes a lot of people uncomfortable.
After all, he overzealously buys all of the things for his crush.
Tumblr media
He pushes his way into his crushes' life.
Tumblr media
He kisses someone when they're drunk.
Tumblr media
He's very physical (towards someone who is ALSO physical).
Tumblr media
And he may ask, but he doesn't wait for verbal consent to be given before making his move.
Tumblr media
Hold up.
Were we talking about Faifa from Perfect 10 Liners?
He does all of those things too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But no one (that I've seen) doubts Faifa's intentions or his character. There's no hate train on Faifa. Because we KNOW him, and we understand Wine. We know how Faifa is outside of this relationship. We have a clear grasp of both Faifa's motivations and Wine's reaction to his actions. Wine is clearly ok with Faifa's moves.
But Sung-hyun is doing more than that. He's clearly manipulating Da-on into things like wearing matching clothes. Right?
Tumblr media
Let me raise you either version of Cherry Magic. There are secret matching clothes shenanigans in those too. We don't question intentions in either version of that show either. Because it's SUBTLE and we again clearly understand motivations and reactions.
Tumblr media
So it's not JUST the base version of Sung-hyun's actions that are making some people uncomfortable or causing this flurry of questioning. It's the writing causing chaos.
The show is trying so hard to show Sung-hyun as a man that doesn't hide things and does things in the open, that many of these become "public" proclamations and exaggerated. For some of these actions, I even wonder if it's supposed to be comedic and didn't come across as such. After all, Sung-hyun is clearly living in a romantic comedy while the others are in a thriller.
So why do I think some people are uncomfortable with Sung-hyun?
Because what is "seen" is that Da-on is uncomfortable and it feels like pressure.
Tumblr media
Because Da-on doesn't understand Sung-hyun's actions either (which is fair - with his love experience, who would?).
Tumblr media
Because even though all of the signs are there that he's feeling Sung-hyun and he likes him (a lot),
Tumblr media
The ratio of those moments where Da-on lets himself "enjoy" Sung-hyun's company vs. feel uncomfortable by his actions is a bit skewed.
And because yet again - we aren't privy to most of Da-on's thoughts.
Some people will focus on the earnest "white knight" moments and the numerous moments that Da-on does show he enjoys Sung-hyun's company. After all, Da-on is clearly coping with trauma.
For other people, they will focus on Da-on's frequent discomfort and the pushiness of Sung-hyun's dialogue. Because after all, Da-on is clearly dealing with trauma.
Then there's the third group - which includes myself - who can't decide what I want to think about Sung-hyun. I'm as confused as Da-on seems to be half the time. After all, what the first group saw as earnest, the second group saw as pushy. I think it's both? My feelings vary by episode.
At this point, I don't actually know that it matters to me whether Sung-hyun's a good white knight or not. In my mind Da-on needs to choose himself, because the man is clearly working through trauma. (Note: This doesn't always preclude a relationship. I just think Da-on needs time to be independent.)
When characters get this muddled, it's almost certainly because of the writing/script. The question this time is....is it intentional? or is it not? We won't know until all is revealed.
Anyways, let's get the popcorn popping. There's insanity to be enjoyed. Let the thrill ride commence.

Submas canon vs fanon
The entire time I have been in the Submas fandom I have seen a lot of confusion about what is canonical and what is a wide-spread fanon. Both in the sense of people thinking things were canon when they were not, and (more rarely) people thinking things were fanon when they were not. So I thought it might be useful to put together a little guide.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with using fanon. I use most of these headcannons in my own fics because I like them and canon is dumb anyway. (Note: pokemon is a huge sprawling mass and tends to contradict itself, and there have been changes across the various games/manga/anime)
All quotations are taken from bulbapidia.
Nimbasa Trio - FANON
Elesa has no connection to Ingo and Emmet besides living in the same place. There is one interaction between them in Pokemon Masters, and while they are on friendly terms they don't appear to be particularly close. Similarly, the idea that Ingo likes bad puns/Emmet does not stemmed from their fanon friendship with her.
Uncle Drayden - FANON
The only confirmed family Ingo and Emmet have are each other.
Cilan is a huge fan - CANON
Cilan is a fanboy of both of them in the anime.
Ingo is the older twin - CANON
In the original Japanese Emmet calls Ingo "nii-san" which means older brother.
"Do you have any siblings? I have an older brother, Ingo."
- Emmet, pokemon masters
Emmet's joltik hoard - FANON
Emmet's galvantula knows the move cross poison. This is an "egg move" which can only be learnt through pokemon breeding. Since it would take several tries to get this move it probably would have left Emmet with a lot of Joltik. In theory. We don't see Emmet with joltiks in canon.
Ingo's kitty smile - CANON
He smiles like that in the manga. (Admittedly, it's not as exaggerated as the full on :3 people sometimes draw him with.) He also briefly smiles in PLA, but less cat-like.
Ingo's perpetual frown is unintentional - CANON
"<player>! Someone just told me something that troubled me deeply! They said that compared to Emmet, I'm too stiff! But that's just a misunderstanding! I know I smile when I'm having fun! I'd even say that I'm quite proud of how expressive I am when I speak! What? You say you've never seen me smile? I-is that so..."
- Ingo, Pokemon Masters
They are both autistic - FANON
They are related to the twin heros - FANON
They share similar themes and motifs to the twin heros/Zekrom/Reshiram but that's it. They have no canon relationship.
Both of them are heavily coded as autistic. However, it's never been directly stated in the games that they are autistic and (to my knowledge) nobody at Game Freak/Nintendo has confirmed anything.
Ingo has a receding hairline - (debatably) CANON
He is drawn with one in the art book. Does the art book count as canon? Until something in the main games says otherwise, probably. (Though there is some argument to be had that it might be an unflattering haircut instead.)
Ingo arrived in Hisui via wormhole - FANON
"For my part, I simply found myself one day here in Hisui, a region whose name I'd never heard... All I could remember was my own name. I was still standing there in bafflement when the Pearl Clan came to my aid."
- Ingo, PLA. (However, the art book depicts the pearl clan finding him facedown on the ground, so take his standing claim with a grain of salt)
We still don't know how he got there. Similarly, it is quite common to show Ingo arriving during a blizzard/freezing to death and generally in poor health/injured/unconsciousness. But the way he recounts it sounds much more peaceful.
It'a also common to have Sneasler be the one to find him. The art book (of dubious canon) shows a human pearl clan member finding him, and Ingo's quote seems to confirm that. It's possible Sneasler was involved but she isn't mentioned.
Ingo got amnesia from hitting his head - FANON
We don't know how he got amnesia.
Ingo remembers Emmet as "the man in white" - FANON
"I'm starting to recall a man who looked... like me. We'd battle and discuss Pokémon, I think... The words "I like winning more than anything else" flashed through my mind just now..."
- Ingo, PLA, about Emmet
He makes no mention of remembering Emmet wearing white or smiling.
Ingo calls her "Lady Sneasler" - FANON
Ingo only calls her Sneasler, no Lady. In fact, nobody calls her or any of the ride pokemon Lord or Lady because...
The ride pokemon are noble pokemon - FANON
There are 10 blessed pokemon descended from the heros of old, and these pokemon are revered by the clans and have wardens. The blessed pokemon are divided into two groups, the rides and the nobles.
The ride pokemon are not called noble pokemon, and they do not get titles. Mai talks about "the great Wyrdeer" but does not call him lord or noble.
"This suggests that even Pokémon that are not nobles can become frenzied..."
- Kamado, PLA, about the ride pokemon Ursaluna seemingly becoming frenzied
Ingo lives in Sneasler's cave - FANON
We don't know where he lives.
Ingo became a Warden because Sneasler liked him - FANON
"I showed a natural affinity for taming Pokémon, which is why I eventually became a warden. But still I wonder what my true purpose is here..."
- Ingo, PLA
There is no further information about his wardenship. There is no information on what his relationship with Sneasler was prior to him becoming her warden.
Ingo likes having photos because of the amnesia - CANON
"Ah, photographs. I appreciate having physical keepsakes—less ephemeral than memories. Would you do me the honor of posing for a photo with me, <player>?"
- Ingo, PLA, at the Photography Studio
Ingo has been in Hisui for XX years - CANON
The art book uses the placeholder XX for the amount of time Ingo has been in Hisui. Some have taken the double digits to mean 10+, however the first digit could easily be a 0. So, we still don't know. Net 0 information.
Emmet must be taking Ingo vanishing badly - FANON
We have not heard from Emmet.

That's all for now! I'm sure I've missed or forgotten something, feel free to add stuff in the reblogs! I might edit the list later to add more if needed.

Is It Canon? Tash's Personal Rule Of Thumb Guide (Made For Their Own Sanity)
It was said/it happened onscreen in the show: yes, it's canon! congrats/my condolences.
A writer or showrunner said it on social media: it's up to you if you take it as canon or not, but don't get mad at someone else for disagreeing. it's schrodinger's canon, and if you start arguing about it and trying to convince the person who disagrees with you that you're right and they HAVE to see it as canon/not canon then you're exhausting, and an idiot.
It happened/was said in a tie-in book/comic/video game: much the same as above. schrodinger's canon. not worth fighting about.
It happened in a spin-off show: technically canon, but most people won't get mad at you if you politely say "I personally don't take [insert spin-off here] as canon". If it's a show with heavy overlap and crossover and important lore implications for the original show then people will probably think you're living in delusion if you don’t consider it canon, but these are the risks we take.
An actor said it about their own character: I'd take this as (schrodinger's) canon unless/until it's directly contradicted by a more canon source. The actors may not be the writers but a lot of the characterisation we see onscreen still comes directly from the actor and their own interpretation, afterall.
An actor said it sbout someone else's character: not canon. this is probably just that actor's headcanon. (the actors are also fans most of the time, afterall.) but you're free to also adopt that headcanon.
It's common fanon in the fandom/it happened in a popular fanwork: NOT CANON. I am hitting you with a fish if you try to treat this as canon. It can be your personal headcanon and you can believe it with all your heart, but it is not canon. Please don't forget this. Please.
