Initial disclaimer: didn't read anything you wrote in response to the others in this reblog chain because I was honestly supposed to be in bed an hour ago, so I just can't, man.

I mean I agree with what you said in your response to my point?

I know everything is chemicals, I'm studying chemistry in uni amongst other courses, so I am quite aware of the mechanics of... Life? So, for example, if I said I put sodium hydrogen carbonate in the cake I made you, you'd probably be reconsidering the pros and cons of eating a slice. But that's just baking soda. Not as scary sounding.

Fun fact! That example was brought to you (and me) by Ann Reardon! I have been subscribed to her channels for at least 6 years by now, and I watch all her videos, the one you attached included! So, again, yeah, I am aware and I agree.

I think the misunderstanding in this was caused by me talking about those "evil chemicals", when I was just paraphrasing things I've heard for years that I was criticising.

You then said that it's not correct to say that Europe bans harmful ingredients while the US allows them. But you kinda contradict yourself with your next paragraph?

Correct me if I interpreted what you wrote wrong, but the jist of it is that Europe tends to ban more things, even if it's not 100% sure they are harmful, because it tends to err on the side of caution, while the US strategy is different.

Now, I'm not here to argue who is more correct in its approach because I'm not qualified to do so, nor am I claiming that this way the EU has absolutely banned everything that is harmful. But it does imply that they certainly do so more than the US, who has a more lax approach.

I think a good example of the difference between the US and EU is your radioactive-looking, red-orange Fanta and our pale-orange/yellow, orange juice-colored Fanta, and how it's essentially waterdowned, carbonated, sweetened orange juice.

And for the last point about sugar. Yes, I also agree with that. Obviously. That's just how that works. [That would be the job of the parents, rather than the government, as it can't force parents not to make their kids drink coke (it CAN force them not to snort it though. Isn't that weird?) ]

But the word sugar as we commonly use it refers to sucrose, which is in the same family as fructose, glucose, lactose. So using less or no high-fructose corn syrup IS using less sugar.

Again, not a food scientist. I'm not nearly qualified enough to propose what to use instead.

But my point in my post was never to suggest an alternative, nor, as a matter of fact, to claim that one approach is better than the other. As you said, the US does better in some aspects and the EU in others.

All I was doing was fucking tweaking about having to hear whining for YEARS about how the US is supposed to be more like Europe, only for those same people to whine AGAIN when it does just that.

I don't care who's right or wrong, I care about inconsistencies.

I think being coherent is maybe even more important than being right about a certain aspect.

Because it's incredibly difficult to be right about something, and if you are completely honest to yourself, you will never truly know if you are right about a certain topic, it's basically impossibile. But what you CAN be certain of, is if your logic is consistent or not. That is something you can know

(that means you can be consistently wrong, but still, it's better than being inconstant AND wrong)

I can think of a hundred things we could do to improve our collective health a hundred fold more than replacing sugar with a slightly different sugar that breaks down to be the same sugar in our bodies.

Free cancer screenings.

Eliminating food deserts.

Free vaccines.

Free birth control.

Drug treatment.

Naloxone to anyone who wants it.

I’m going to preface this by saying this version of Charlie is quite different from her canon counterpart; much more mature and emotionally intelligent and not as naive. (I gave her critical thinking skills and empathy) Still very bubbly and friendly, but not so childish.

Despite knowing that sinners are in Hell for a reason, the exterminations are still kind of a rough time for her, what with all the bloodshed. But she understands why it has to happen and that it ultimately puts these souls out of their misery.

Much more proactive concerning the lives of hellborn demons, doing her best to make existence easy for them. It is their native home after all.

The hotel isn’t for redemption, it’s just something she likes doing, especially after Lilith left.

Charlie was close with her dad, but definitely a mama’s girl growing up. Once the idealistic lense she viewed her mother through was cracked, she needed something to fill her days. Besides, she’s always had an affinity for taking care of people.

She also has made jobs for hellborn demons who need them, and pays wonderfully. Housekeeping, cooking, bartending, etc. and they all get their own quarters.

Charlie and Ronnie (I renamed her Veronica, and I still have yet to flesh out her role in this AU) aren’t dating yet, as much as she would like to. She just has a lot on her plate and knows she’s just not yet ready to get back on the dating scene, especially after her last relationship.

As busy as the hotel keeps her, she makes sure to call Lucifer at least a few times a week.

Looooves 20th century stuff, just something about it sparks joy in her. She’s about 200 years old, so the fashion, films, and music of that era hold a special place in her heart. She has all the Don Bluth and Steven Spielberg movies, and Thumbelina is her favorite.

She has a genuinely good heart, of course, but can be impatient sometimes, which leads to her slipping up and making a wrong turn every so often. But despite all that, she’s mature enough to admit when something is her fault and owns up to her mistakes.

Her passion bubble isn’t as near the surface as it was several decades ago, but she still gets riled up sometimes. (I’ll do her Big Scary™️ design if this gets enough notes)

also yes she has a Customer Service Voice, and it gave the others some major whiplash the first time they heard the difference.

Now regarding her design

I wanted to give her some actual body mass so she doesn’t look like she might break if you hug her too hard. I know Viv designed her after a porcelain doll, but her skin being just straight up white never really sat right with me, so I give her some pink undertones and red accents in her ears.

For her horns, I really just changed the position and shape, and they’re out 24/7.

The inconsistency of her face spots in the show bothered me a tiny bit so I replaced them with the little hearts on the apples of her cheeks. (hehe lol)

I took away the red in her bangs because I wanted her hair to actually make sense. Both her bubble braid in the series and her hair in the pilot bugged me in some way, so I found a middle ground. Seriously, I feel like they were really just trying to rip off series Rapunzel with her, so I did her a proper justice.

As stated in this post here, her tux in the series really grins my gears, so I fixed that :>

I imagine that after a long day of running the hotel, Charlie would change into something a little more loose fitting than her work uniform, and I wanted to see her wearing something other than red so I tried out some cooler tones for her leisure outfit.

If I had a quarter for every time a character in this show wore a bow tie, I could probably get myself a diet soda, so I replaced hers with a garnet heart bolo tie, which doubles as the pendant of the choker necklace she wears off the clock.

So here are some of my high noon headcanons >:3c

Mordred has a lot of really Weird skills and random facts in his brain from growing up with the Saxons. He can drink boiling water and eat basically anything. He knows how to prepare most things that the people in Camelot think are inedible and is often Very Confused abt why the other knights freak out about it.

Marius was the green knight! Not tim! Marius was canonically on fort galfridian at some point, and he also wears green! Plus we know hes a romantic so probably values chivalry and honesty to some extent that would allow Gawain to walk away from their confrontation

In the Saxons culture and religion, the heart is the soul and its incredibly important for someone to consume the souls of the deceased so their ideals and their soul continues to live on through other people. If the person hasn't written in their will who they want to carry on their legacy and soul, the priests will pick someone who they believe would do the soul justice going forward or someone incredibly close to the person to eat the heart during the wake.

The people on the station are all really small and have long ears. Thwyre like fennec foxes to me.

The Saxons dont really Care about gender or swxuality. Its all very fluid among Saxons, so Mordred being trans wasnt really A Thing. In Camelot, its not exactly Uncommon to be trans, but it is still a bit more othering than if in Saxon camps, and Mordred is weirded out by it.

Lancelot is the tallest of the pendragon polycule. It used to be Ygraine, but since she died its lance. Arthur is the shortest and frustrated about it. Mordred doesn't have any height either hes smol. Gawain makes fun of him for being small even though hes only a little taller than him.

Galehaut is half Saxon. Hes the tallest knight and has never explicitly Said hes half Saxon, but several of the other knights know/are suspicious. Mordred and Galehaut bond over being Saxons.

Ygraine didnt go with Gwen, Arthur, and Lancelot because she was always more of a healer than a fighter, and Mordred was still young and the caravan needed someone to lead. She was better with a knife than a gun as well, and had a few from various sources.

The caravan died mostly from a combination of dehydration and heat stroke, though a few did die when the raiding party came. Mostly as a mercy on the Saxons part, as the people there were mostly too weak to fight back.

The stations nights are inconsistent in length and when they happen. As time has worn on the automated cycles started getting old and the maintenance they needed was never able to happen, so the times of day can be really long and nights really short, or night could last an actually decently long time.it varies

The Saxons record history mostly through oral storytelling, whereas Camelot has a lot more physical records and writing. Mordred doesnt actually know how to read very well and has to read really slowly.

Ygraine taught Gawain how to ride a motorbike and how to fix up machinery and things like that. She would've for Mordred as well but he was too small.

Guenivere and Lancelot met first, but neither know/remember as it was for maybe a couple hours once a while before Arthur and guenivere met.

Mordred gets really anxious and has trouble keeping up relationships, so he has a tendency to pull away or not talk much, which made a lot of the other knights think he was just a loner. He did want to befriend them, did want to make connections, but he couldn't figure out how to approach or when it was okay for him to join conversations. What I'm not projecting thats crazyyy (/j)

He was also really angry as a kid until he started growing out of it and mellowed out. He gkt into fights A Lot, partly because Morgan got into a lot of fights and he was copying a lot of her behaviour. After a couple months had passed from Ygraine's death, he latched onto Morgan.

SHOCKING: i still haven't finished this sky nightly arrangement from forever ago (the procrastinatorrrrr) but here is what i have (mostly) finished so far and i adjusted some of the instrument volumes etc etc. here's the original song for comparison

Ok enough boring things like "work" or "sleep," time for a BerZesty AU 😤 I don't think I'll ever actually write it because it'd take a while but I'd love to hear others' thoughts on how you'd do one! Here's my VERY long take (outline) on it:

In this World of Graces But With BerZesty Mechanics, resonance is something highly sought after among nobility as it puts them "closer to the gods." Thus many marriages are arranged in order to produce heirs with high resonance, supposedly, but since resonance is becoming rarer and rarer (probably due to inbreeding affecting life span 😅) many nobles actually lie about their abilities.

Lord Aston of Lhant, who has little to no resonance but comes from a family that did, similarly sought out an heir with high resonance so he married Lady Kerri who possesses it. She is a widow of a previous marriage, with her own son Hubert having high resonance. But when Asbel, Aston's biological heir, is born with high resonance, Aston goes full villain mode (sorry I'm sabotaging his character 😅) and has Hubert killed in what appears to be an accident so there will be no dispute over who will inherit his title. Thus Asbel grows up with the seraph of his dead half-brother Hubert, who does know their relation but not the truth behind his death. Hubert is a water seraph (of course) and despite being older than Asbel, appears younger due to aging more slowly as a seraph.

Kid Asbel is also friends with Cheria, a friendly fire seraph kid who reincarnated after her tragic demise from illness, but otherwise Asbel's social life is quite limited and sheltered, protected fiercely by his father who sees Asbel as a chance to develop ties with the royal family. Eventually Aston gets his wish and Prince Richard is sent to Lhant for a visit. Asbel and Richard immediately hit it off as they both aspire to be Shepherds, figures of legend who brought peace and purity to the world by forming pacts with the Empyreans themselves. Asbel swears to be Richard's squire someday, and together they'll travel the world and purify it.

During Richard's visit the kids also meet and befriend Sophie, an orphan of Lhant with surprisingly high resonance. They protect her from hellions, since hellions tend to target those that can perceive them, and bring her with them to Barona when Richard's stay is over. Once there, Richard invites them all to help him investigate a shrine he has uncovered beneath the castle to an unknown Empyrean (very Innominat-like 😅).

Unfortunately they discover too late that the summoning ritual they're attempting requires a human sacrifice, and as they are attempting to abort, a "monster" shows up and kills Sophie. The gruesome event causes a falling out between the royal family and Lhant, and Asbel and Richard are no longer permitted to see each other.

7 years later, armies of hellions begin to invade Lhant and Aston dies in battle. Asbel is sent to Barona to petition the king for help, as there are far more people there with the resonance needed to combat the hellions, but then Asbel learns that Archduke Cedric has killed the king and is leading a coup with said armies of hellions. He himself is a hellion of Lord of Calamity status that had secretly lived among the royal family, though Richard always knew and thus was targeted frequently.

The capital seems to be overrun with malevolence so Asbel and his two seraph friends take cover in the sanctuary where they find Richard currently fleeing for his life. When they venture further down the same path they followed as kids that led them to the abandoned shrine, they're surprised to hear the voice of an Empyrean asking if they will aid him in purifying this world as a Shepherd. Richard agrees, Asbel swearing to be his squire, and Richard becomes the vessel to the forgotten Empyrean Lambda. As they complete the ritual, the spirit of their old friend reincarnates before their eyes as the void seraph Sophie, though she has no recollection of her former life.

With their powers greatly improved by the blessing of an Empyrean and an additional seraph on their side, Richard and Asbel vow to take down the Lord of Calamity reigning over Windor, Asbel hoping to purify him, while Richard is more prepared to do what's necessary. They encounter Malik, an earth seraph who challenges them to test both his own strength and the strength of their wills as a new Shepherd and squire. He is fine with killing hellions, mainly because he knows someday he'll have to return to his homeland and kill his friend Kurt who became a dragon (very Zaveid coded), but the pair (mainly Asbel) promise they will try to purify him, and Malik tags along to see if they're up for it or not (very Edna coded).

They succeed in taking down the Lord of Calamity Cedric thanks to Lambda's power. With peace in Windor restored, Richard the Shepherd-King and his squire Asbel set off to awaken and receive the blessings of the four Empyreans throughout the land, starting with Gloandi here in Windor. However, the ritual seems to be less of awakening and embracing their powers as it is Richard and Lambda subjugating and devouring them, much to Asbel and the other's disturbance. His seraph friends are beginning to feel some malevolence from the pair, but Asbel's pure belief in Richard keeps them from feeling its effects.

They travel next to Strahta, who initially refuse to recognize Richard as a Shepherd, believing this to be a political takeover. They prove Richard's validity by taking down an enormous hellion that had been terrorizing Yu Liberte, though Asbel and the citizens are dismayed that they couldn't purify it as it used to be a beloved gentle mascot (RIP Rockgagong). As a reward for their success, Richard is granted access to the shrine of the water Empyrean, Duplemar.

But the same process happens again of Lambda devouring its power, and this time the boosted force of his will enables him to suppress that of seraphim across the entire world, including all of Asbel's friends except Sophie. Richard reveals that his and Lambda's plan for peace actually involves exterminating humanity, the source of the malevolence, and will do so by using seraphim as tools. Asbel can no longer deny what they've become: a fallen Shepherd led by a fallen Empyrean, able to command both seraphim and hellions alike. Heartbroken, Asbel is forced to break his pact as Richard's squire before Richard's overflowing malevolence can corrupt both him and his enslaved friends. Richard is furious at his betrayal but despite having Asbel at his mercy does not kill him, and Asbel runs away, bitterly hoping he can save both his suppressed friends and his fallen one somehow.

Asbel is at a loss on how to help his friends until he encounters the wind seraph Pascal, who besides Sophie is the only unaffected seraph (because no one can hope to control her lol). Her tribe has knowledge of a sacred land in the heavens far beyond, where the Empyrean of Void, Fodra, ascended to long ago. She and Fourier are able to take Asbel and his friends there, and since Fodra's domain is far apart from Lambda's, his friends have free will for as long as they remain there.

In order to make a pact with Fodra that could free the seraphim, Asbel has to clear 4 elemental trials, and each one forces the corresponding seraph to come to terms with their past (Hubert's cruel murder, Cheria's unfair demise, Malik's bitter regrets, and even Pascal's jealous sister, who envies Pascal's higher standing among their tribe so much she almost becomes a dragon). Completing each one not only ensures their free will but also allows Asbel to armatize with them. But before Asbel can take the final step of becoming a Shepherd under Fodra, he hears from her that Richard has located the fire shrine of Forbranir, and so he returns to Ephinea with his freed friends in order to try and stop him.

Unfortunately, Asbel's armatuses are no match for Richard's armatus with the Empyrean Lambda, taking on a form far more demonic than angelic (aka Richard's final boss form from canon, roughly). Richard succeeds in stealing Forbranir's power and this time seems to be suppressing the will of humanity, though Asbel is protected from its effects by the blessings of his friends. Asbel returns to Fodra in the hopes finishing his pact with her will free the humans, too.

The last step of Fodra's trial tests Asbel and the others' belief in humanity. They learn that Lambda was an artificially created Empyrean who lost faith in humans after those of supposedly divine blood murdered his Shepherd vessel Cornell and sealed Lambda away. Humans created their own god then turned on it when it failed to please them, they always tear down goodness for their own selfish ends. That is why he decided they were truly evil.

They also learn that Sophie, as the soul that was sacrificed to release Lambda, is now a part of him (like Laphicet), hence why she was unaffected by and can even decently match his powers. But even after learning of these origins, Asbel and the others still believe that humanity has a future that they wish to protect. With this Fodra gives him her blessing, and Asbel becomes a true Shepherd like he'd always dreamed. Now he just needs to reach his other friend and get him to believe in that dream again, too.

The humans and seraphim on Ephinea have regained their free will thanks to Asbel's Empyrean pact countering Lambda's domain, and they offer Asbel and his seraphic friends their prayers as Asbel chases after Richard into the planet's core, where the final Empyrean of Earth, Lastalia, dwells. They confront him at the core and battle again. Richard has the power of his Lambda armatus AND 3 devoured Empyreans, while Asbel has the power of 5 seraphim 1 Empyrean and the prayers of basically every human so it's one HELL of a fight 😅 But Asbel is able to win by pulling a fucking 5 way armatus (like the noncanonical ending of the Zesty anime I know it's silly but c'mon Asbel would TOTALLY do that if he could 😂 it's the power of friendship, literally.)

With Richard and Lambda defeated, Asbel is able to appeal to Richard and get him to believe again in the humans that he once wanted to save. But Lambda refuses to trust humanity again, and thus cannot be purified. Sophie offers to sacrifice herself to seal Lambda away again, since she can match his powers with her own, but Asbel opts to become Lambda's vessel instead despite his malevolence--- as long as Asbel believes in both himself and Lambda, it won't corrupt him, and he can attempt to purify it as he shows Lambda the world. Lambda accepts his terms, and Richard and Asbel renew their pact, this time with Richard as his squire since he no longer trusts himself and besides Asbel has proven himself a worthy Shepherd twice over.

looking back on 2024, there were some months where I was drawing like crazy😳💞 and some months I barely drew anything at all; ; I would like to draw more consistently this year🙏

that said, I had a BUNCH of secret projects that I worked on that I can't post yet, even now lol so it's a little tricky to see what I actually drew each month

this year was my first time participating in a zine!!🙌🙌 it was a lot of fun, so I've signed up for a couple more💗

this year I also participated in shuake week, tweek week, and haru week😱😱 so I made a lot of art back to back lol

historical fiction set in 15th century West Africa

follows a young woman from Timbuktu, recently conquered by the the warrior king of Yorùbáland

her guild of blacksmiths were already shunned as witches, and their conditions worsen under Yorùbá rule - so when she’s kidnapped by the king to be his wife, she decides to accept that it’ll be a better life for her, as long as she can get her mother’s blessing

but as months go by without her mother being found, and political tensions rise, she must decide what she wants

This was just a random idea I had. In my brain Central Jersey is the Jersey that shows the most, problem is is since CJ is so...let's go with disconnected, with the rest of the country he gets overwhelmed, and sure North could just switch in and South could do the same if they all wanted to scare the others with a southern accent that has the slang of the California coast, but watching a place that doesn't exist (it totally does btw) is way funnier.

Besides, by now all the other states that aren't the OG13 think that New Jersey has brown-looks red in certain light-eyes and it would scare the devil out of 'em if they see the red eyes that North actually has (and considering it's HIS body, it is far to tempting).

Also is it obvious that I love the idea that it's the Jersey's and not just Jersey, like I live here, if it's one singular state then I'm from Pennsylvania (I may have been born there but I sure as heaven ain't from there). Jersey would be three different states if we wanted to be associated with the rest of the country more than we already are, that and we may not agree on things but we don't HATE each other, we leave that for the rest of the country (plus let's be real, central wouldn't exist and then what would north and south argue about?)

Anyway as a proud Centralian looking at the news of the rest of the country is overwhelming, I just want to go skating, to the arcade, and continue lovin our favorite Devil, and down the shore when it's nice (and no, down don't mean literally down, though normally we are going down).

okay so not all the covert knows galactic sign language, but most of the leaders and the armorer know. most of the covert does know tusken sign though, since the armorer teaches a lot of the foundlings as they're younger (i am a tusken armorer truther). emilian is more reserved, kept to himself, so he doesn't communicate much with anyone anyway. he uses tusken with the covert though, and galactic with anyone else who knows it.

i'mma be real, idk ahmed's planet. i'd like to think he was a foundling, but grew up away from mandalore with his buire, and on the planet where he learned his native tongue (space arabic ??? sparabic. SPARABIC???). while he never settled anywhere for long, he did teach nablus sparabic so they talk in that with each other mostly. not a lot of people know sparabic so it's more of just a him and her thing.

ahmed and nablus weren't near mandalore when it got glassed, so hearing the news was. well. idk. ahmed never had a real connection to mandalore anyway, but it was still freaky to comprehend. emilian was on concordia or one of mandalore's moons or something. he fled with the rest of the mandos, and joined the covert later. really fucking devastating for him. doesn't like talking about it.
