I always love the prologues and epilogues to the How To Train Your Dragon Books, the fact that they’re coming from a much older Hiccup looking back on his life and struggles. They’re just filled with so much melancholy and nostalgia, there’s a tangible weight to them, especially as the series goes on. We begin with this wonderful whimsical feeling that begins to creep into a sadness and it’s beautiful and heartbreaking.

i’m not gonna lie i don’t particularly care that they had sex that night. was it disrespectful? for sure. did it harm anyone for them to do it? it, in fact, did not. two consenting adults having sex away from prying eyes and keeping to themselves < an entitled boy purposely calling a girl at her mother’s funeral (whom he had never interacted with before) a pig and ridiculing her grief. laena’s storyline was cut short because the writers decided she wasn’t important enough to make into a proper character that isn’t at the mercy of other characters (it’s something i’m forever going to be salty about, daemon and rhaenyra loved her with all their hearts and were absolutely devastated when she passed) but out of those two scenarios who do you think she would be more upset with?

the people who bring this up in retaliation cannot handle alicent taking any criticism whatsoever. in all honesty i wouldn’t even care if her fans would just say ‘yeah, it was shitty. don’t really care though.’ it would at least save me the time of reading think piece after think piece on why alicent deserved to get her lick back against rhaenyra for her lot in life (caused by otto and viserys) by focusing on her pain rather than her son’s. these are the same people who try to claim that most of rhaenyra’s children and step children secretly hate her, due to wanting ‘complex and nuanced relationships’ to occur (they actually also can’t handle that rhaenyra was a great mom all around to all of her kids, and that maybe they need to be focusing those feelings on the green kids with their parents instead). let’s be serious for just one moment: it makes more sense that the children who were neglected by one parent and abused by the other having complicated familial feelings than children who were (for the most part) raised in a relatively stable and loving environment.

yea idk. i generally liked datv, combat/exploring in particular was for me extremely fun. did a mage on underdog. The game ran flawlessly on launch day with a mid gaming rig, which is unfortunately not the fucking norm anymore. I personally think it was quite pretty, and did see stylization that tied it backwards to other games.

the game has many flaws in culture, characterization, writing, but i can recognize that, be critical of it, and still enjoy it. cause it's a just a fucking video game at the end of the day. I almost wish it wasn't a dragon age game cause it just brings so much fucking baggage along side it.

I will say, that not enough of you are prepared for what private equity/corporate money will continue to do to the quality of games from big studios. I am going to enjoy this bit of representation, even if flawed, for now because the american apocalypse is on the immediate horizon and I doubt we'll see a big studio in this country with an NB character at the forefront in the next decade.

Ninjago 4th of July headcanons bc it’s the Fourth of July!! (Yes I know they wouldn’t celebrate it shut up)

Lloyd: hates how loud fireworks are, but loves how they look. He usually wears headphones and vibes by the grill or pool. When he was younger he was an absolute menace, but was usually knocked out by like 9:00 p.m

Kai: LOVES fireworks. He’s always so hyped about them he’ll spend all night setting them off. He consumes a ridiculous amount of hotdogs

Zane: my boy is working that grill. He’s putting out a constant supply of burgers and hotdogs. He has a classic “kiss the cook” apron, and Pixal takes every opportunity to do so

Cole: the fun uncle. He’s splashing around the pool with all the kids and playing games with them. He has cheesy ass boxers and all the kids adore him. He brought the speakers and provided the 90’s rock music

Jay: he’s consuming an atrocious amount of hotdogs and throwing it all up the next day. He’s also built his own fireworks and sets them off for everybody. Even Lloyd really likes them

Pixal: the one keeping everyone alive. She’s the lifeguard, she’s putting out fires, she’s making sure all the drunk people don’t fall over. The Mom Friend at her finest

Nya: she brought all the alcohol and is currently tipsy. Probably vibing by the pool getting a tan. Certified Wine Aunt

Wu: he’s sitting on the porch enjoying an actually healthy meal and chatting with other parents. Whenever a kid comes over he sneaks them some candy

Garmadon: the Dad. He has the Dad Bod, he has the Dad Jokes, he has the Dad Shorts and the crocs and beer and the punny T-Shirt. Fourth of July isn’t complete without the all-American dad, and he is filling those shoes. Lloyd is secretly extremely happy about this

Misako: also sitting on the porch drinking and eating. She’s bringing up politics, bc no 4th of July is complete without it

Arin: he LOVES fireworks, and is vibing with Kai. He’s also one of the kids playing in the pool. He RULES at Marco Polo

Sora: said that she was only tanning, got in the pool after 15 minutes. She sucks at most pool games and almost electrocuted everyone. She’s also building her own fireworks, but they’re all in the shape of cats

Riyu: having so much fun. He’s snatching food off the tables and splashing kids in the pool and generally causing mass chaos

Wyldfyre: the dog. She’s never seen a firework in her entire goddamn life and is cowering under the kitchen table. They end up having to give her anxiety meds so she doesn’t burn the place down

Honorary mention, Mr. Frohicky: he’s enjoying some peace and quiet in his own room. Everyone is causing chaos outside the monastery and he’s not going to be a part of it

Daydreaming about Aemond becoming king after the dance of the dragons and being gifted a magic mirror from some mysterious foreign noble. The noble tells him the mirror shows him his deepest desire and once he puts it in his chambers, he starts seeing Lucerys, the nephew he killed, in it.

Lucerys looks different, his clothes are weirder and his room had these weird contraptions like the small black box he sees his nephew using all the time. Unbeknownst to Aemond, he’s actually seeing into the future. He tries to talk to the Lucerys in his mirror but it doesn’t seem like the boy could hear, continuing to do whatever he was doing. Not that it matters, Aemond is happy enough to be able to see his nephew everyday.

He likes being able to watch his nephew sleep or read a book in his bed while he does his own work. He likes it even more when he watches Lucerys squirm and moan in bed as he pleasures himself with his own fingers. Aemond becomes so obsessed with the mirror that he barely even leaves his chambers anymore, demanding all of his tasks be sent to him instead.

It all goes downhill when one day he sees Lucerys bring a boy home. He gets so angry when he sees Lucerys make out with this boy that he starts banging on the mirror, desperately trying to get them to stop. Soon enough, the two boys break apart as Lucerys glances at the mirror in shock. The bang seemed to have come from the mirror and to Aemond’s delight it was enough to catch Luke’s attention. Unfortunately for Aemond, it isn’t enough to get them to stop as the boy coaxes Lucerys into making out with him again.

Aemond ends up watching them fuck, he’s furious but the incident was enough to give him hope that there was finally a way for him to get Lucerys’ attention.

A few days later, while Lucerys is getting ready for a date he stands right in front of the mirror. Oblivious to the other person watching him from the other end. Aemond burns with desire, his hands itched to touch Lucerys. With his curls looking so soft and his mouth shiny and plush, the makeup making him look even more enticing.

Overcome with so much desire, Aemond reaches into the mirror and pulls.

To both of their shock, Lucerys is pulled into the mirror and straight into Aemond’s arms. The younger boy is terrified but Aemond is filled with so much happiness.

Finally. Aemond thinks.

The younger boy begs to be returned home but Aemond refuses to hear any of it. Lucerys’ pleas of home and freedom fall to deaf ears as Aemond sends out commands to prepare for a wedding and a coronation. The boy seems terrified of him but it was fine. Aemond could work with this Lucerys, better a terrified Luke than a dead one.

With Aemond as king and his beloved nephew as his Queen they could finally bring House Targaryen back to its former glory.

the audiobooks are also EPIC i adore the way David Tennant read it and the voices he does for the characters

Are the HTTYD books good and worth reading?

My most recent hyperfixation has been the How to Train Your Dragon series. And have been seeing some fanart of the books, however, I know that the movies/series are not faithful to the books. So I'm a bit hesitant but still curious.

For anyone who has read any of them and seen the movies/series content, are they a good read? I'm open to diferent even if I miss some of the elements of the movies/series, as long as it's good.
