I feel fandom would get along a lot better if there was mutual understanding that liking a character, agreeing with a character, and thinking the character is well constructed/executed are all separate (if often overlapping) positions, each with their separate tastes and subjectivities. Also: character portrayals are intended to make the audience feel things; this is separate from (if often overlapping with) analyzing/appreciating their actions and role in the story.

#I would queue this because it's truly not character-specific #but there is always something happening with a character so that probably wouldn't help lol #anyway I'm making this nonrebloggable because I am not interested in the tomato throwing atmosphere out there #do not clown in bad faith on this post or in my inbox please I will just delete it #op #it's just over time I do see a pattern of like “I think X character was wrong in this” and some reactions being “you *hate* X character!”#or that if you like a character you *must* agree with them and/or have such a deep an endless compassion for their faults and mistakes #that it comes all the way back around to removing their agency because HOW could they do any different #and if you do not give them this grace then it is antithetical to you liking them or enjoying them or even just being neutral on them #when this is often not the case #like as an Essek and Jonas Spahr enjoyer their fuck-ups are very essential to why they have any sort of “grow as a person” arc #characters *have* to have texture and foibles or they are stagnant in the story - let your fave fuck up a bit! #didnt mean to do this one in quote unquote colour but it wasnt legible without it so. heres a treat i suppose #isat #isat spoilers #in stars and time #in stars and time fanart #isat fanart #isat loop #isat bonnie #lucabyteart #coughs up a lung. anyway. ramble time as per usual. this is what i was warming up for btw in case it wasnt obvious #besides being another entry in the 'letting bonnie read loop for filth on accident' series. this is mostly self indulgent musings on #headcanons (and i will just use that word here.) ive previously rambled about in other tags and posts #namely: in the scenario that loop integrates into the party as a New Person for quite a while before The Truth Come Out. i feel they have #a decent chance at really scoring a slam dunk in becoming a guardian figure for bonnie? loop's demeanor is already colder and a tiny #bit more level-headed than siffrin's in the way they seem to discuss bonnie with them. namely pointing out that bonnie #never really hated them. it seems to be one thing they're genuinely at peace with? they've seen by now the truth that bonnie #was just scared and upset. and likely now knows that what bonnie wants is to be treated with grown-up respect within reason. plus loop #already scores bonus points with bonnie since they didnt 1. fuck up bad like sif did in act 5 and 2. saved sif in the party's eyes #... but then when it turns out that this clean-slate relationship with a stranger was siffrin being deceitful? must have been odd.#bonnie seems to really dislike being lied to. the question is whether they'd see it that way? would they feel betrayed there?#anyway. this is set after all those emotions are at least settled some. loop able to be more physically affectionate... and yet #still not letting themselves be quite as close as they'd like perhaps. perhaps...#anyway translucent pyjamas because i dont care if you're comforting a crying child you've GOT to SERVE!!!#and also i feel like the party probably wouldn't let loop stay completely naked for that long. especially not post-reveal anyway

as far as i understood from previous posts, Machete loves snails, but how does Vasco feel about them? does he try to love them for Machete's sake?

Maybe "loves" is a strong word. He certainly likes them more than an average person, can get lost quietly observing a passing snail for a long while, and has read about them to understand them a little better, but they aren't his main passion in life or anything. He sees a snail and feels fond, positive emotions for reasons he can't fully explain. They're common, overlooked animals and they remind him of his childhood.

If Vasco ever picked up on this, he might start to doodle little snails on the letters they exchange (in an unintentional callback to the snails you might see in medieval manuscripts). But I doubt it'd ever go beyond than that. Vasco's innate relationship with snails is largely neutral.

#Vasco on the other hand is an avid equestrian and Machete has always felt a little uncomfortable around horses #but he very much tries to learn to love (or at least tolerate) them for Vasco's sake #and over the years he does make visible progress #if Vasco says they're cool and trustworthy and smart and gentle animals then it must be the case #answered #anonymous #Vaschete lore #you know how you sometimes offhandedly reveal to someone that you have a particular fondness for some slightly more uncommon animal #oh you like hedgehogs? every birthday card you get from here on out will have a hedgehog on it #you have been assigned a new theme animal

#Fourfold Soul #<- That's the title of the project I've been working on!#I am very excited to finally show off the cowboy (gender redacted) I've been cooking in a slow boil!!! Yeehaw!#Yes this is the game project. YES I am commited to the bit of having the main character go through a long running pronoun-quest.#This character does not have a name so I cannot formally tag them...#(Okay. Technically they have an internal name for coding/scripting reasons...and I have a nickname for them.#But the important part of making a video game character you get to eventually name is that the name must come from *you*!)#The girl here is a npc so she has a temporary name. So I also cannot tag her. Hmm...#I have several FFS comics thumbnailed out. This one got made first because it's the funniest without context. Lore wise it's weak.#I would love to post the sexy clown but you have to wait just a few more comics.#Fun artist woes moment to share: This is the first time I've had to colour these characters traditionally. *That* was NOT fun.#Going from a specific digital colour palette to being at the whims of my limited colour choices in markers? Hell! On! Earth!#I might also be extra frustrated because this sure is 3x the length of what I usually do for comics!
