I love my auntie dearly, I really do, but good god is being around her nowadays pretty much akin to being in Alien...
And I feel so mean for saying that because I know she loves her kids and wants to have them, and it's rude in general, but watching her constantly groaning in discomfort and complaining and almost doubling over when one of them kicks, which happens at least once every five minutes... it's fucking body horror to me. The actual outline of a foot showing through her skin has burned itself into my memory and I wish I could forget it
In my defense she's very clearly reaching the end of her rope as well, always swearing and cursing out both her husband and herself for getting into this, repeating "10 more weeks" over and over again like a mantra, and just generally looking extremely exhausted, especially since she's got a hyperactive six year old on her hands too
And to think that this is technically the easy part, they're not even born yet... may whatever higher power there is give her strength, that's all I can really say
#idk why I'm making this post#I just have a lot of thoughts about this whole situation. I suppose#my auntie isn't without her flaws but she's easily the strongest person I know#I just hope she's okay and that everything turns out fine. that's all#and if there's one thing I've learned over the past 5 ish months it's that I definitely never want to be pregnant#never. absolutely not#watching is horrific enough. thank you very much#there is an upside though#I'm taking extensive mental notes in case the opportunity to write a pregnant Malina arises#that sounds kinda awful and exploitative but look. when else am I gonna get an opportunity like this??#I'm taking what I can get here#also I'm rambling because I ate too much and now feel a little sick#and need a distraction#stomach aches are the worst man#this post went in like 5 different directions lmao

What if MR! Mychael like hears MC overthink? But it isin’t stuff like “How the hell am I gonna get home? Where is my cat? Who the hell is this guy?” More like “Did I turn off the stove before I left? I think I did. Even if I didn’t they would’ve called the firefighters right? That just means I don’t have a home anymore. Would he allow me to stay? Maybe?”
For context! I'm gonna be honest I think he'd find it annoying haha! He's trying to dig around to find any trace of ill intent and all he finds is this person fretting over mundane things. He'd find it weird you were even worrying about that sort of thing in the first place considering your situation being stranded in the woods (assuming the scenario is MC being lost like in-game) but he's not one to think about someone for too long.
He'd get bored and tune you out completely.
#mushroom oasis vn#mychael ask#MR!Mychael#on the upside he knows youre harmless!#the extent in which he cares about someone's personal issues is... none#he'll still keep you around though#youre entertaining enough without the absent rambling in your head <3

Dazai Osamu and the Dark Era: the visual novel (a fan project)
On a whim, I've decided to finally just publicly release this project that I've had laying around for two years at this point, for Dazai's birthday today. It was originally made for my very dear friend @letmereachforthestars , when I first introduced her to the series and wanted her to be able to read my favorite BSD light novel in an easier-to-read format. You need a computer to be able to play. The details and links are under the cut:
If you've never played a visual novel before, it's basically a novel in the form of a video game. Text will appear line by line, one a time on the screen, and it will be accompanied by relevant background visuals, music, and sound effects, to make the reading experience more immersive, and more stimulating than just reading from a book. Some visual novels have actual gameplay elements to them, and some are just books and nothing else (oftentimes dating sims/choose-your-own-adventure novels), the latter of which this is. If you've played the mobile game Bungou Tales/Mayoi, the story sections of that game are basically mini visual novels.
This game was made with screenshots and music from the anime, sound effects from the anime and Bungou Tales and free sound effect online sources, as well as graphics and fonts and other assets from Bungou Tales and other official BSD art (particularly the official anime soundtrack cd covers). The script is taken entirely from the official Yen Press translation of Dark Era, with the exception of about two or three iconic lines that I used different translations of because I felt like they had more impact. Additionally, at the very, very end, I added on the original ending scene from the Dark Era stage play and wrote a few fanfic lines of my own to accompany it you can tell because they are very cringe and don't match Asagiri's writing style.
Before playing the game, there are a few very important things to keep in mind; PLEASE read all this:
I am not a professional in the slightest. I took some coding classes in high school, and have some photoshop skills (when it comes to the design elements of the menus), but for the most part the former wasn't much help here; this was my very first time ever using the Renpy engine, and I made this entirely from scratch. I used my knowledge of playing other visual novels to emulate the kinds of effects and timing that is typical for these games, and I think it turned out pretty well all things considered, but it's still very amateur. This is most evident in the sound effects. The sound effects have no volume consistency between them, and some of them, particularly the gun/battle sfx, can come on very suddenly and be loud. I highly, HIGHLY encourage going into the settings and turning down the sound effects volume (the music should be fine), so that you're not startled by certain sounds when they happen, and for a lengthy time. I wouldn't blame you if you decide to turn the sfx off entirely if's too distracting, honestly 🫠 I am no expert in sound files equalizing and making sound files loop seamlessly, so this was by far the most tedious and frustrating part of the process of making this for me. Hopefully it doesn't ruin the game or break immersion too much if you decide to leave them on (I hope you do, for the rain and clock sounds at least, but again I wouldn't blame you if you can't).
Dark Era is the most faithful light novel adaptation in the anime, but there are still a handful of scenes, mostly fight scenes, that got shaved down significantly. Because of this, there are numerous occasions where I had to simply linger on a black screen or the same screenshot for a long period of time, while tons and tons of narration happens, because there's simply nothing I can show to accompany said narration. This is not ideal, but unfortunately I didn't have much else of a choice in those instances, so I hope it's not too distracting. There are also a few instances of straight-up inconsistencies between the novel and the anime (ex. the fight between Oda and Akutagawa happens in the woods in the novel, but in the anime it's still right outside the art museum), so sometimes what you're reading won't quite match the screenshots I use. Fortunately it's never anything major, but it does happen.
There will sometimes be long, unchanging black screens. Don't worry, the game isn't broken; just wait long enough and it will continue.
Sometimes, a character will get cut off when speaking, and when that happens the dialogue will auto-force to the next line. If you didn't get a chance to see what was said before, check the text backlog/history (in the menu or the H key).
Last but not least, this game was made with the default text speed in mind. Meaning, that when it comes to certain specific scenes, the mood/tone of them, made up of the timing of music, transitions, sound effects, etc, all of it was arranged around the speed at which things progress when using the default text speed. I completely understand if you can't, but if at all possible, please try not to change the text to go too much faster or slower, especially faster, because certain scenes will lose a lot of impact otherwise. If you already know Dark Era, you probably have an idea of some of the scenes I'm referring to. At the very least, during the more high-stakes/intense scenes, please try to play through those all at once without stopping, for the greatest impact based on how I designed the game, and only pause/quit during the slower scenes. There are specific moments that I'm really proud of how they came out, and I'd like for them to have the maximum impact that I intended :') (also note that if you make the text appear instantly, the cut-off dialogue mentioned above simply will not appear at all, and you won't even know to look back for them, so please refrain from making the text instant at the very least)
Ignore the cringe sappy final message
...I think that's everything. With all that out of the way, here are the links for both PC and Mac:

Download the Mac version
This was a passion project for me for a good many months back in 2022. It started out just as a gift for my friend, but in the end I was really satisfied with how it turned out, despite how tedious and frustrating it was to work on. I've been hesitant to share it with the fandom for all this time because I kinda doubt anyone would really be interested in something like this especially since it's not stormbringer or beast, but someone on discord who tried it told me that I should share it, so here it is. I'm sharing it not just because I'm proud of my work, but because Dark Era is a truly amazing light novel — underrated, in my opinion (yes, I said what I said) — and far better than the anime adaptation, as good as that is, and I want more people to read it. If reading the books is hard for you and you've never read Dark Era before, if I can help just one more person to read it with this, I'll be happy, and consider my job done. 💖
I so desperately want to make more of these visual novels for the other light novels, but sadly, some of them simply aren't possible thanks to how many scenes are missing from the anime, like with Entrance Exam in particular. I've also been waiting with vain, thin hope that Bungou Tales will eventually reach seasons 3 and 4, so I can use their Fifteen and Untold Origins title screens like I did here, if those ever exist. However, I'm also held back thinking about certain scenes that would require some redrawing/drawing additional details to match what's written in the novels. If anyone has any ideas on things I could do to possibly get around these issues, or just thoughts in general about how the other light novels might be tackled, or if you're an artist who can recreate the anime's style and takes commissions/knows someone who does, I'd absolutely love to hear from you! As well as any advice/help on how I can smooth out/improve this project here!
Anyway, sorry for the long wall of text. Thank you for reading all this, if you did, and if you do try the game, please let me know your thoughts; I crave any and all feedback. 💙✨

No Upside-Down AU
"It's called the Creel House."
Steve groaned. Then groaned again when Dustin produced a binder full of papers, many sticking out at odd angles. He dropped it down on the counter, the thing making an audible "thunk!"
Robin shot a look over her shoulder from where she stood, restocking the kids cartoon aisle.
Steve had a feeling he should have volunteered to do it instead.
"It's Halloween, Steve.” Dustin snarked, rolling his eyes dramatically. “ We're too old to go trick or treating!"
Ah yup, there was that incoming headache, the same one he got whenever Dustin stormed in with a half baked idea.
At least this one didn’t involve tramping around tunnels and stumbling over a pack of feral dogs.
"So you jump right from collecting candy to, what, conducting a fricken seance in a haunted house?" Steve retorted, running a hand through his hair.
A part of him wanted to pull it, but his parents had rid him of that habit long ago.
Dustin scoffed. "We're not conducting a seance.” He said, like that was the stupidest thing he’d ever heard. “We're gonna do science experiments."
"On ghosts!”
“Come on, Steve!” Dustin whined, his voice pitching up in the way it did when he might not get his way. That meant he’d probably already told his poor mother Steve was involved, just like he always did.
Not that Steve couldn’t completely blame him for doing it.
Between Will Byers getting abducted, found, thought dead, and miraculously coming back to life in the morgue, the Starcourt Mall Fire (caused by Russian experiments if you believed the rumors but what Steve personally knew to be about fifteen different OHSA violations) and the damn feral pack of rabid dogs, the parents of Hawkin’s found themselves suddenly needing to keep a much closer eye on their children.
Claudia Henderson was no exception.
(And maybe a part of him liked Claudia. The way she tried so hard to provide for Dustin, making the most she could of his fathers absence.Steve knew they weren’t divorced, but he also never personally met the guy, and well.
At least Claudia was still there.
At least she was trying.)
“Okay. Let’s say I agree to play ghost masters for a night.” Steve said, mispronouncing Ghostbusters on purpose and enjoying the immediately shrieked correction it got him.
“Why on earth would anyone be willing to let a bunch of teenagers into their house for the night?”
It still killed him that the kids were technically teenagers. Had been, for a hot minute.
They were even high school freshmen now and wasn’t that a trip?
Soon one of them (Steve had his bets on Max) was going to start pestering him to learn how to drive and the very thought made him want to get on his knees in front of his Beemer to beg forgiveness.
“I promise we have permission, Steve.” Dustin pleaded, rolling the word promise across his tongue in that whined, over exaggerated way kids forever used against their older siblings.
“We crossed our i’s and dotted our t’s on this one! It’s just an evening in a house, having fun. That’s it.”
Steve sighed, running a hand down his face when Dustin busted out the puppy dog eyes.
“If you assholes--” He started, and winced when Dustin immediately let out a victory cry.
Fists punched the air, Dustin jumping about as he yelled; “Yes! Steve, thank you!”
“I didn’t say I was going to go yet!” Steve yelled after him as Dustin spun about, shouting that he was going to go tell the Party over his shoulder.
Robin snickered at him behind the kid, which Steve immediately caught.
“Don’t laugh too soon Buckley.” He threatened, pointing at her. “You’re coming too.”
“Oh really?” She shot back, as Dustin flew out of Family Video, making a beeline for his bike. “How do you figure you’re going to get me involved in this one?”
“Because you owe me for driving you to that bar in Indianapolis.”
It was a gay bar, one Steve had heard about when one of his father’s shitty secretaries once again forgot to put the phone on hold when “trying” to transfer Steve’s call.
(She had absolutely nothing nice to say about the bar, which was a solid recommendation in and of itself in Steve's book.)
Not that he truly needed the ammunition. Robin was his best friend, and they loved each other-- a sappy little number he would gladly pull out if it meant he didn’t have to herd the brat pack around by himself on Halloween.
Robin sighed dramatically, staring at the ceiling.
“Fuck you Steve, fine.” She huffed, giving in.
“You would never.” He taunted, and then did his own stupid little mimicry of Dustin’s victory dance, just to make her laugh.
Smiled wide when it worked.
At least if things went sideways again, she'd be right by his side.
xXx
“I don't recall the Creel House being a giant mansion on top of a hill.”
Steve said it accusingly, standing at the meeting spot on Halloween, kids in costumes floating about them as they clogged up the sidewalk.
Nancy Wheeler pursed her lips, arms crossing tightly across her chest.
(Steve had no idea how they’d gotten her to come and frankly, hadn’t asked.)
"It's not." She agreed.
Her eyes narrowed, zeroing in on her brother with a look that younger siblings the world over knew by heart. "And that is absolutely not the Creel House."
"We mixed up the names, so what?” Mike waived a hand, as if by doing so he could flick away his sister’s irritation. “It's a haunted house we have permission to hang out in, on Halloween."
“If it’s not the Creel house then how exactly do we know it’s haunted?” Jonathan muttered, hands clutching his camera.
(Steve did know how he got involved, if Nancy was here.
Not that he mentioned that either.)
Steve nodded in agreement, putting his hands on his hips as the kids grouped before them.
"How exactly, did you get permission for us to stay the night again?" Robin huffed, staring up at a place that looked like it came straight out of one of Munson’s horror movies.
“I dunno, Eddie got it.” Lucas said with a shrug, and got a collective groan from the older teens for his efforts.
“I’m not getting arrested again.” Robin said, spinning on her heel to face Steve, eyes wide.
“I know you guys get arrested by the Chief of Police like, every other day, but some of us do actually want to get into college and frankly, the whole experience sucked.”
“Only Steve and Jonathan have been arrested.” Nancy corrected, face now thoroughly pinched in annoyance.
“The rest of us were just detained. That said,” She added quickly, as Mike and Dustin both went to speak at once, “Robin’s right. We learned our lesson from Starcourt, didn’t we? We are not breaking into places we are not meant to be.”
She sounded like she was quoting something.
Knowing Nancy, she probably was.
“Eddie has definitely been arrested.” Robin protested.
Nancy, forever stuck on a technicality, shot her a look. “Not in the incident I know you’re referencing.”
“Yeah, ‘cause he ran.” Lucas grumbled.
“There is no shame in running boys and girls.” The man himself said loudly, leaping out of the bushes to land right in the middle of their little huddle. “Especially from the law.”
“Eddie!” the kids shrieked as one, their annoyance at his prior abandonment immediately replaced by all his little Hellfire Club minions trying to tackle him.
Max and El shared a private look, the only two of the children to not swamp the metalhead, and collapsed into shared giggles.
Freshmen. Steve thought with a groan, as Eddie dramatically fell down, playing out a very overacted death scene. God help us all.
“Harrington, call off your brats!” Eddie howled, the tail end interrupted by a cackle of laughter as Mike and Dustin tickled him.
“We talked about this Munson.” Steve yelled back. “When you rile them up, they’re your kids, not mine, and you get to deal with them.”
“Damn. Down my minions, down!” Eddie tried, and got tickled harder for his efforts.
They all wrestled for a bit more before the boys relented, Mike and Dustin red in the face with laughter while Lucas, their own budding basketball star and thus the only one to even think of exercising, helped up a panting Will.
“Eddie, not that I trust you, because we both know I don’t,” Robin started, as Eddie jumped to his feet. “But how exactly do we have permission to be in that house?”
“I’m wounded Buckley, truly.” Eddie said, a hand going to cover his heart. He staggered backwards, head shaking as though injured. “Here I thought you were one of my best friends.”
Nancy sighed loudly, rolling both her eyes and her head back while Jonathan hid a smile behind his camera.
“You are one of my best friends you asshole,” Robin fired back. “Which is exactly why I don’t trust you! I know you too well!”
Eddie laughed at that. “Fair.” He reached into his pocket, bringing out a set of keys. “I’m house-sitting the place for the weekend.”
“Someone trusted you to watch a house like that?” Nancy said slowly, before being nudged hard by Robin.
She winced. “I mean-”
“I know what you mean, Wheeler.” Eddie said, taking the comment in stride. “It belongs to one of the executives at the plant my uncle works at. Their first house sitter dropped out last minute and they needed someone to watch their dog.”
Here, Eddie made a face. “He has one of those crusty white things that gets seizures or some shit, the guy said his wife wouldn’t go anywhere unless she knew the dog was okay.”
“So you're allowed to be in there then.” Nancy said tartly. “I am sure they wouldn’t appreciate-”
“You are underestimating how last minute this was.” Eddie cut her off with a twirl, keys swinging out so that they flashed dramatically. “He said, and I quote,”
The metalhead’s voice abruptly adopted an accent that sounded like a trucker and an English butler had a weird, upper class baby.
“I don’t care what you do in this house tonight, Munson, as long as you don’t break anything, kill anybody, and clean it up after yourself. And for fucks sake, keep the damn dog alive.”
Taken aback, all Nancy could do was blink.
“This dude sounds awesome.” Dustin said, impressed. The other boys murmured their agreement, once again slowly swarming Eddie.
Like puppies, they were.
Overexcited, hormone ridden, accident prone, trouble finding puppies.
“Pretty sure the guy was implying I could throw a party, so forgive me if I think inviting a bunch of children, their siblings, a bank geek and their overprotective mother” that was aimed at Steve, “over for a night of trying to communicate with the deceased isn't going to be a problem.”
“Like you would throw a party anyways.” Steve snorted, the sound ugly.
“Wow, is this gang up on Eddie night? I could damn well throw a better party than you, Steve Harrington.” Eddie raised his eyebrows, taunting.
King Steve was of course, a boy long left in the past, but a part of him, that competitive part who was very good at keg stands, rose to the challenge.
“Is that so?” He said, standing up from his “mother hen slouch” as Eddie himself called it, to his full height. He took a step forward, made sure it radiated some of that past swagger he’d been so known for. “I’ll take that bet.”
“Can you guys have a pissing match later?” Robin asked, ignoring the way Nancy winced at her choice of words.
“Yeah!” Mike shouted, abruptly snatching the keys from Eddie’s waving hand and ignoring the shorter teen’s outraged “Hey!”
“Come on, let’s go already!” He huffed, racing off.
“Why did that asshole have to grow so tall?” Eddie complained, as the younger teens flew past him. Even Max and El took off, though they at least paused to shrug at Steve with twin smiles before they ran past.
“I seriously hope this really is ok Eddie.” Robin said, worrying her lip anxiously as the older teens started the climb up to the front door, a trek that somehow took two different sets of steep stairs. “I meant it about getting arrested.”
“Chill Robs.” The metalhead assured her, knocking his shoulder into hers as he and Steve flanked her sides, Jonathan and Nancy trailing behind.
“El’s here, so it’s not like good ol’ Chief Hopper doesn’t know what we’re doing.”
“He knew what we were doing last time.”
“No, he knew whatever lie Mike told him so he could sneak El around. That’s why the kid’s on his shit list.” Eddie corrected.
Robin sighed, defeated. “God you can be just as annoying as Nance, you know that?”
“Excuse me?” Nancy said, from behind, eyes popping wide and startelement.
Jonathan hid his chuckle into a cough when she shot him a furious glance but Steve, now two years past being her ex, had no issues letting her see his amusement.
“Sorry Nancy, but she’s not wrong.” He called teasingly. “You gotta get that need to correct people under control.”
Then bolted past his friends as Nancy spat out his full name like a curse, offended, before quickening her pace to catch him.
Laughing, Eddie and Robin took up the chase, leaving Jonathan to shake his head.
“I am not running with this camera!” He yelled at them, cradling his baby and following at a far more sedate pace.
“Your fault if we lock you out!” Steve called back, but the threat was empty.
He and Jonathan had fixed their shit, those same two years ago. They were good now, even close, sometimes.
Not as close as he was to Eddie and Robin, but close enough to hang out with the kids on Halloween and enjoy it.
‘A family.’ Eddie had called it, while he and Steve recovered in the hospital not even six full months ago, from a shenanigan neither of them talked about in front of Robin for fear she’d put them right back in the ER.
‘We found ourselves a proper family. Good for holidays and everything.’
He’d had a stupid little grin on his face when he’d said it.
‘How about next time we don’t almost die finding one.’ Steve had countered, and then grinned smugly when Eddie’s protest just ended up making his injuries hurt.
“You’re both dumb.” Jonathan had said at the time, their sole witness and ride out of there, soft smile he almost never let out on his face.
“Screw you Byers, you were in California for this one!” Steve complained, and well, it had devolved into silly, amusing arguments from there but the point was still the same.
A family they were, the whole lot of them.
xXx
“Oh my god this place is huge.” Robin muttered, spinning about in the entryway.
“That’s capitalism for ya, baby.”
“We should split up, that way we can find the perfect room.” Dustin announced, shuffling his bulging backpack up as it once again tried to drag him to the floor.
“You weren’t serious about the ghost stuff, were you?” Steve groaned.
He didn’t know why he did--Dustin never joked about this kind of shit.
“We have an opportunity, Steven. I’m not wasting it!”
“Fine then. Go run around like a lunatic and find me when you found your stupid perfect room.”
“Weren’t you the one bitching about splitting up last time?” Eddie teased, playfully poking at Dustin’s back and trying to get him off balance.
“Yeah, in an actual situation.” Steve countered, as the kids paired off, Lucas and Mike losing their preferred partners to each other, the girls not looking sorry for it. “Not playing pretend.”
“Is that what we’re doing? Playing pretend?” Eddie moved his head so that for the briefest of seconds, his nose ghosted right past Steve’s cheek.
Steve, more than used to Eddie having no personal space, didn’t even flinch.
“With the whole summoning ghosts bit? Absolutely.” He clarified with his own secretive smile.
Because Munson often spoke in riddles, had dual meanings to every word-and for once Steve had started to catch on.
Had even started to play around back.
It may have taken him a hot minute to do so, but sitting on the knowledge that there was a chance Eddie Munson was actually, seriously, intentionally flirting with him had made the world rearrange itself a bit.
Steve honestly wasn’t certain he was comfortable with what it meant in regards to himself--but he knew he found Eddie hot.
More than that--they were like two halves of something, working and bouncing off each other in a way only those who were very close could.
(“Two halves of a whole idiot.” Robin had said when Steve had first broached the topic.
Steve had licked a finger and stuck it in her ear in retaliation.)
The guy part, Steve found once he’d thought on it, didn’t bother him as much as it once would have. What made him hesitate wasn’t that, or even how quickly his discovery had led to him having fucking wet dreams of Eddie Munson.
No, it was everything else.
Namely, the dad he’d already disappointed, but also all the other crap that came with living in a small town, and being relied upon by a lot of parents as their kids' de facto elder sibling.
If Steve came out, openly came out…
People had been shitty enough to Eddie, in high school. Steve had even been one of those shitty people. He knew how they thought, what they could and would do.
Egging, graffiti, getting your ass kicked in an allyway, and barred from establishments was all just the start of it, for someone who hadn’t even admitted to being gay.
He’d about convinced himself to ignore it. He liked girls anyway, was one of the lucky ones, as Robin loved to put it, whose brain and general being didn’t care too much about his partner’s gender.
“It at least gives you a shot to fall in love with the person you’re “supposed” to.” She’d said, drunk off her ass and wobbly as she made air quotes with her hands.
Steve couldn’t blame her for it. Not now, when he finally understood the consequences of dating that other person.
The one you weren’t supposed to.
Then came that damn bar in Indianapolis. The bartender with the earring who’d shot him an appreciative glance and Steve hadn’t even had to think about it-he’d just, winked.
Ended up with a free drink.
Made out a little at the back of the bar on the guy’s break and sure, it hadn’t gone farther than that but it was enough.
To know.
To want.
How Robin hadn’t caught him on that one was a miracle, but he didn’t want to ruin things. A part of him knew she was graduating soon-her, Nancy, Jonathan and Eddie, if they could finally drag him through Mrs. Click’s class.
They could all move, if they wanted to, after that.
He was happy to follow them wherever they wanted to go, and knew the first three were trying to get into the same colleges. He also knew he wouldn’t have problems dragging Eddie along for the ride.
If anything the guy was itching to get out faster than any of them.
Laughter suddenly rang down the halls, interrupting him from his too loud thoughts.
Steve smiled at it, knowing he damn well couldn’t abandon the kids.
“You alright?” Jonathan asked, his voice too quiet as always, having come up on Steve’s left side.
The guy just didn’t relax anymore unless he was high.
Steve made a mental note to ask Eddie if he’d brought anything after the kids had managed to go to sleep-or at the very least, tire themselves out enough to be corralled in one room. Then the adults could go have their fun.
Something he knew Jonathan desperately needed.
“Yeah, just thinking.” Steve said back.
“I didn’t know you could do that.” Jonathan responded, then cracked a smile when Steve playfully threw his shoulder at him.
“Earth to Harrington!” Eddie called, and Steve blinked, because the guy had suddenly teleported from right near him to across the sprawling entryway entirely. “If you and Johnny Boy are done talking, I say we to go explore the basement. Together.”
Eddie clapped his hands, to emphasize the last word.
Jonathan shook his head, but Steve just sent his friend a conspiratorial wink, before putting on the most harassed sitcom-husband voice he could, yelling back “Coming, honey!”
Eddie, who had started to turn, almost tripped at the words, long legs tangling together and getting an honest to god laugh out of Jonathan.
Steve snickered right along with him, before trotting over to save his idiot friend from himself.
“Come on Munson, let’s go be the stupid people who die first in all the horror movies.” He said, opening the door and trotting down the rickety, wooden steps.
A pressure at his back, Munson crowding him as he followed.
“If we wanna be the people who die first, then we have to sneak away to have sex.” Eddie murmured, hair ticking the back of Steve’s neck.
Steve grinned as the sound of the basement door swinging shut followed.
The sudden silence and lack of light was just the courage he needed to blurt out, “Well if that’s on the table, then I’d absolutely rather die like that.”
The breath Eddie sucked in was a high he could ride for days, Steve decided, as he carefully made it to the bottom of the stairs. went about feeling for the lights.
Being flirted with by Eddie was one thing but flirting back?
Steve had never been on a better power trip.

HUKANARA, toa Mangai of ice (7/11)
Standing proud in Ko-Metru's monument square, Hukanara is a steadfast protector and idol to matoran across the city of legends. A cunning leader in his prime, he spends his days presiding over the mighty rahi the Mangai were first called to defeat--now imprisoned in a glacier.
Hukanara wears the great Tataupo, mask of conjuring, and wields a Boreal Banner. The red-coloured cloth is a tradition from his southern homeland, but has been adopted as a symbol among the local Ko-matoran now that he is hailed as a hero.
While the old toa has remained a pillar of the community, he has taken a step back from leading his siblings in their heroic affairs, and many wonder if he might find his destiny in becoming turaga of their great city.
#Love when I get to use the upside down torso#Though I must admit#If any of my Mangai designs get little tweaks or redesigns I expect Hukanara will be one of them#Not anything dramatic#But probably a couple of little changes and refinements#His torso construction is especially unusual even among the rest of my Pohatu-like toa#Bionicle#LEGO#MOC#Toa#Toa Mangai#Mangai#Metru Nui#MNOG#Mata nui online game#Hukanara

just thinking out loud but the Steve going to college because believe it or not he’s finally found a very specific course that catches his interest and it happens to be in Fort Wayne so he can still check in on the kids. It gets even better when Robin and Nancy decide they want to stay local too so they all pack together and get excited (and nervous) about moving.
The time comes and they leave Hawkins and suddenly it’s the first proper day of classes. The three of them are spread over the campus so Steve treks alone to his first class, the reason he chose the college in the first place: Introduction to Folklore.
He’s so ready to learn about something he’s finally interested in. Doesn’t pay attention to the usual seating conventions and social status, just wants to know where they’ll be starting, cliques and popularity contests a long gone part of his life.
The professor is in her stride, painting a picture with her stories of creatures from folklore and the origins, Steve can’t believe it but he’s genuinely excited to learn for once. The pinpoint accuracy focus on the professor is shattered when a voice erupts next to him
‘That’s great and everything but shouldn’t there have been a moth man lover sighting by now? Where is the justice for this noble creature I ask you? I know there’s monster fuckers out there professor.’
The professor slowly engages the guy in conversation but Steve is seething. Who does this guy think he is? Does he think this is a private class just for him? That Steve isn’t paying good money to be here? So pen clenched in a white knuckled hand Steve lets his bitchy temperament get the better of him ‘I thought this was a folklore class? Not a self insert romance lit course’ he clearly says it too loud because the boy next to him. The one who started all this turns to Steve and raises an eyebrow, a smug smile on his face and lets out a ‘huh interesting’ and what’s Steve supposed to do with that? And more importantly what’s Steve supposed to do with the fact that the guy is stupid hot with this long hair, tattoo combo and that the smug look on his face definitely made Steve’s heartbeat thunder in his ears? Out of rage on behalf of his fellow students, of course.
Turns out it doesn’t matter, the class is over and Steve is running out the door, determined not to get caught by those eyes again.
It starts off a Thing between them. Every week the guy, Eddie, will challenge the lecturer with some inane point that Steve refuses to accept he actually believes to the point of Steve firing back an argument at him. Eventually they are full on debates in the middle of the class that the professor has to mediate after eddie decided that standing on the table would be appropriate (of course, not to be outdone, steve followed).
They absolutely do not have a thing for each other and the rest of the class absolutely do have a sweepstakes on when they’ll get together
#listen this could be a huge meandering story about them arguing in class#being teamed up by the lecturer for a project#researching a local folklore story#AND HELLO ITS DEMOGORGANS DEMOBATS UPSIDE DOWN BREAKING FOLKLORE THSTS BEEN SECRET FIR SO LONG#the kids join in Nancy and Robin and jargyle join in#interviewing jopper for more info#Wayne moved AWAY from hawkins when he got Eddie but he knows the stories#it could be such a big fun story#alas I cannot write more than ten words before I lose the plot#nice in theory though#stranger things#eddie munson#steddie#steve harrington#enemies (not really) to lovers#Eddie dresses up as mothman because I SAID SO#Steve catches him as mothman with Gareth and Jeff one night shining torches on him to attract moths#’yes this is science /Steve/‘#’GUYS TORCHES BACK ON ME COME ON’#’oh so /this/ is the famous Steve. what do you think Gareth?’#’im just shocked he’s real. maybe monster fucker munson has changed his ways’#’SHUT THE FUCK UP I SWEAR TO CHRIST’#Steve:😲#(sorry I’ll go back in my cave now)

Thrum friend. Would you recommend the ACOTAR books? I see people in a Discord book club mention thinking about reading them and I'm like. 🤔. Obviously you have at least taken to certain characters but everything I see on timeline seems to be. Kind of in spite of the actual books 🤔
Not me finding this ask wedged between several hate anons from this fandom lmao
ANYWAY mzyraj, my friend, my long term mutual, how best to put this....
STAY AWAY FROM THESE BOOKS! (Yes read them? Maybe?)
Long answer: The first book is a 3/5 retelling of beauty and the beast mashed up with the ballad of tam lin. It's nothing special but it's a relatively entertaining, easy read. The first half moves slow and the second half gets more interesting. It has grown on me when I revisited it after finishing the whole series so for me it's a 4/5 now. But I'm biased.
When you ask the general fandom however, they will tell you that the first book is not that great, but you need to read it so you can get to the second book, which is the true masterpiece. For 90% of people this is their favorite book. I am not 90% of people. Book 2 retcons a lot of book 1 and gaslights you about events and I just couldn't really deal with that, I was hate reading this thing for the most part.
And yet. AND YET I finished book 2 within days and had to immediately order the next one. And same story for all the books really. Kind of a hate read, but there is something in these things (fairy crack?) that just sucks you in. Or at least it worked on me.
Is the writing good? Not terribly. Is the plot good? No. The world building? Nu-uh. Is it horribly straight and the fandom awful? You bet. And yet look at me! It's been over a year and I'm still trapped in this hole, eagerly awaiting book 6 to know if my fave will beef it and who gets to bang whom.
So, can I recommend Acotar? Not unless you want to potentially end up in the fairy hellhole with me.
#on the upside: if you read these books all the art i did in the past months will be more enjoyable!#maybe!#lol#I think it might be fun for a group read to ramble together?#iono#acotar#thrum replies#generally people like the authors other series Throne of Glass more#I havent read it though#I have read Crescent City and actually liked it more than Acotar as well - but you kinda need to have read Acotar to read Crescent City..lo

on my stranger things bullshit again anyway
Holly being a major character this time???? I’ve got SO many things to say about that. Because she’s been foreshadowed to understand more than she’s letting on this ENTIRE TIME. Like I’ve seen no one talk about this but Holly def knows more than she’s letting on. And we’ve been shown that for so long. Look at season three episode seven “The Bite” around 2:50. When the other Wheelers are on the Ferris wheel Holly sees the trees moving, (the mindflayer) and comments on it. Like!!!! She has been in so many background scenes commenting to Karen about things from the upside down. And in season one she is the first one to see the “messages” from Will and the pressing on the wall. Will and Holly are TOTALLY connected. I was genuinely confused when she didn’t get a bigger role in season four but now it makes sense.
Will is what started the series but Holly will end it. And the Duffers legit said that they were paralleling season one (going back to those groups) so wouldn’t it make sense for ANOTHER CHILD CONNECTED TO MIKE WHEELER (who has been intimately connected to the plot each season I feel like) to go missing??? This is the WHEELERS season and no one can convince me otherwise. It’s all about learning that it’s good to be different. It’s about the WHEELER family learning that.
and it helps Karen get involved! Because in all the scenes Holly shows Karen something she could’ve just seen it herself. Holly was, objectively, a character that didn’t have to exist before now. But she does BECAUSE SHE IS CONNECTED TO THE UPSIDE DOWN. My guess is that she is heavily paralleled to Will this season (the title of chapter two one of the biggest examples) and is going to be the main catalyst and I for one am HERE FOR IT.
Will is the main character this season but the Wheelers are the ones who create the plot.
in general the Wheelers have always seemed to be huge. When the Cali gang gets back it would make sense for El to be at the front, correct? Or will? But no, Mike the one “leading the charge” it looks like. He really is the heart. When his sister goes missing?? Oh it’s over for Vecna.
also manifesting a scene after Holly goes missing for Mike to have a mental breakdown about the similarities to when Will was missing and Wills like so confused??? Like Dustin and Lucas see it too and they tell Will about how insane he went and Wills just. Shocked.
also manifesting a scene for the party (or everyone) where they find out what happened at the quarry with Troy in season one bc that was so built up? (Scene where hopper says that for someone to jump off was a death sentence) and then NOTHING happened and I need it to be addressed. Like maybe something similar happens and Dustin comments on it, and everyone finds out?? Just in general I can see how losing his younger sister could lead to Mike nearly committing suicide (that boy is SO depressed, Jesus) also I know this probably actually means nothing but I’ve always thought Holly was getting a bigger role since I saw the episode title “Holly, Jolly” like idk? It always seemed so weird to me and I always thought “oh hollys going to get bigger” and she never did? Also idk the episode title is just plain weird. Like I understand it’s like a play on the Christmas lights and ironic cause no one is happy but what always gets me is the comma. Like I would’ve thought they would’ve named it “Holly Jolly” which in my opinion makes more sense and is more continuos. Plus it wouldn’t bring Holly to mind as much and wouldn’t foreshadow her being part of it. BUT MAYBE they are going to parallel that episode and I won’t be crazy but who knows even. This last paragraph is me ranting.
tl;dr Holly and the Wheelers have been foreshadowed since season one to play a bigger role and to be connected to the upside down and we’re gonna see it in st 5.
#stranger things#mike wheeler#will byers#karen wheeler#st 5#stranger things season 5#ted wheeler#nancy wheeler#s03 e07 “The Bite”#I knew she was gonna be a big character from season one episode three but y’all aren’t ready for that#So weird that she always sees the upside down stuff first though#Saw it every season and just tried not to think about it#Can wait for Mike and Nancy to go balastic!#Good for them#s01 e03 “Holly#Dustin henderson#lucas sinclair#wheeler family#Holly wheeler
