The first section of this post has the ones I wanted to emphasize on the most then the second section will be just mentions of the boys that I found would be basic in my opinion or I couldn’t think about the concept of them being like the teenagers we have at this time,

Izuku:

This guy is active on social media 24/7.

He LOVES sending streaks on snap of everything happening, he finished studying? He is sending a streak announcing it; he was reading? He is sending a streak announcing it; he was on a call? He is sending a streak announcing it; you get the point.

His bitmoji looks like a carbon copy of him, he does not mess around when it comes to it.

The type of person to have a million different accounts on one platform: One is his main, One is his spam, One is for close friends, one for edits, etc. If you ask him for his handle or username he’ll say “which account?” or give you a specific one depending on who you are.

If he gets left on opened he deletes the message even for him only to avoid feeling embarrassed.

His music taste just depends on tiktok for the most part as he listens to audios there all the time for his edits.

I like to think that All might (or the pro-heroes in general) would be a professional player (sports) of some sort in this universe so Izuku would edit him like how people edit football/American soccer and basketball players.

He’s known in the editing community on tiktok and he loves the mutuals concept.

Not a lot of people he knows are aware of his editing hobby only Kirishima since they share it (Kiri does edits of crimson riot)— they would have that RMA fan and Barca fan friendship dynamic. (trust)

Im sure you have noticed many radfems talk of how men will use their spouse/partner as basically a second mother, having her do all the chores, the emotional labour, the organisation, etc. And I agree with this take.

But can we talk about how a lot of women, especially trad adjacent ones, also see their male partner as almost a parental figure. The amount of times i’ve seen women use different versions of “I just want a man that can think for me” is too many to count at this point. And it’s common. It’s seen in so much romance media, where the man takes control of everything, all the big decisions. It’s become a whole trope in heterosexual romance books and stories, of a rich man with control issues who sweeps some woman off her feet and makes it so she basically just disappears in his embrace.

This is gonna sound super harsh, but please know it isn’t meant as a critique of them as much as something i’ve noticed. I really do believe a lot of women who crave old school gender roles are very lazy, “useless”(to themselves) people who don’t want to amount to anything in life. The idea of struggle and hardship, heck, even just working TOWARDS something, it scares them so much they would rather be shapeless blobs controlled by someone else. That’s why they fetishize that traditional life style for women. Obviously WE know the women of that time and current time too in those types of homes aren’t just sitting around all day doing nothing, but I really do think a lot of women use it as an escapism fantasy from life.

The way a lot of them describe their sexual fantasies is similar, it’s always what is done to them, like they aren’t actually active participants, like they don’t actually have to make any choices.

I think the reason a lot of men crave a parental figure partner vs the reason a lot of women crave one is very different but they seem to be extremely common nonetheless. And with women I also know it’s a very complex issue of both society telling us our worth, the fact that women nowadays even as the more educated demographic STILL do more housework and emotional labour in relationships, capitalism being horrifyingly exhausting to live under, I could go on. But the point is, I think certain women crave a life of no consequences so that whole “i’m just a girl” and “he thinks for me, he makes the choices” mentality thats unfortunately had a huge uptick in popularity in recent years, I do think it’s women craving a parental figure as a partner. Not to say it’s anything linked to incest, i’m not trying to make freudian connections here, but I think the role of a parent is to take responsibility for the child and they crave that floating consequence free existence of a child.

Secondly! I have seen this too! This weird, "take care of me" emphasis from both sides of the camp. Is it laziness? I wouldn't cast that aside for a second. But I think it's also this strange reaction to the present world. At least in the U.S., the economy is shit and people kind of already know that shit is just going to be hard, no matter what. And as humans, we have a weird tendency to swing the pendulum completely to the left or the right. So our reaction to very real, economic hardship that requires frequent "grinding" is to desire a complete release of the wheel, and to have someone else handle the hard stuff.

For some reason, according to social media, you either need to be grindset girl boss or a trad trophy wife which is...yeah. But I don't doubt your point being more of a reason for this. It's bizarre, and you're not crazy.

Little big rant ahead:

I joined the fandom with the start of ww era after the previous i was in turned into a literal dumpster on fire. And while it was clear in hindsight that the golden era of the tk fandom was around 2012-2014 (maybe it can be stretched to 2015), ww era wasn't bad either. Yeah the majority of the old guard/bfn was inactive or waning their presence a lot and basically disappeared the moment the ww tour ended we still had:

- gif/edit/moodboard makers

- art makers (not a lot but a few at least!!!)

- people posting pics from other social media. Either band photos or encounters with fans. Like people were ''fighting'' to be the first to repost the band insta pics!!

- people who weren't content creators but that at least they reblogged with funny tags. No, i didn't mind seeing the same pic of brandon 7 times during my catch up scrolling if 4 of them put some kind of tags to read in them (funny/horny/roasting him), that was the enrichment!!

Then the tour ended and fandom activity shrunk to 1/10 of what it used to be. Ressurrected briefly for their appearance at glasto 2019.

Lol thais liked a post about me complaining about not wanting to post 2 gifsets i made bc the fandom was too dead and i didn't want to waste them. It's dated 3 years ago!!!

Then 2020 happened. The pandemic, their social media silence on the blm protests (the bar was literally on the floor... we only wanted a social media post giving support!!!! How come the bootlickers were all up brandon's ass about how difficult it was to rewrite a whole verse of land of the free to play on tv in 2 weeks but posting a black pic on insta tagged blm was too hard??? HOW?), the horrific situation of the roadie hazing happened in the past that resurfaced... like i don't blame anyone who didn't want to engage with the band afterwards (bc they are some good reasons!! I will never forget how they let us down! And while the hazing wasn't perpetrated by the band members it was still such a horrible situation that shouldn't have happened!)

But this was a complete mass extinction here on tumblr. Of all the fandom communities this seems the only one that died like this.

We are currently left with

- 3,5 gif makers

- maybe 2 art makers if i include myself

- maybe 2 people posting pics including myself

No consistent edit/moodboards/meme makers no consistent reposting of official pics from their socials. The like/reblog ratio on posts is 3:1 on good days and close to 4:1 or 5:1 on bad days. I wake to notes (when i get any) that are 80-90% likes. Most of the rare reblogs don't have any kind of commentary at all.

I could easily run my queue for 7-10 days just with posts i could find on my dash, almost zero effort bc i was fed content on my dash. Nowadays i need to spend hours on blogs/my drafts/my bookmarks to put something together, only for likes. It gets tiring easily with a soul and energy sucking job to do to survive only to barely get any reward (reblogs with tags to read). This community will never recover on people who refuse to use the reblog button

It's even harder to compare this fandom to the mcr one, yeah it's a quite unique situation bc having such a thriving fandom despite the band being broken up most of tumblr's life is INSANE but you can't help getting angry/sad at why did they survive but not us? I can reblog so much fanart on my sideblog!! People posting pics!! Many archivial blogs!! The gifsets!! It just feels so unfair!

Not really an anti thing, just something I've sorta been pondering and would like some more perspectives on.

Why is it that 2012-2014 is regarded as a sort of "golden age" of fandom? (Or at the very least, of Tumblr fandom?)

My perspective is pretty limited because I only started my first Tumblr account towards the end of 2014.

I know though that Superwholock was the big thing, Harry Potter was still popular (because JKR wasn't known for being a raging terf yet), Homestuck fandom was very active, Oncelermania, One Direction, Avengers, Gravity Falls, Rise of the Big Frozen Brave Tangled Dragons etc etc whatever else they added in, Steven Universe. I think it might have also been helped by the fact that smart phones were starting to become the standard phone and may have given people more access to social media than before.

But I know one thing that caused things to change is because after this time we saw a rise is "cringe culture", cringe compilations on Youtube were trendy.

I've seen a lot of people point to Voltron for causing a toxic shift in fandom attitudes. But (not to center my own experience or anything, I'm posting to hear more perspectives is all) in my opinion the release of The Force Awakens seems like it changed everything. As a day 1 Reylo shipper people were fucking VICIOUS. And it was so widespread too, even people who've never seen Star Wars participated in Reylo hate, because it was just trendy to hate us for some reason. I really do think this was a big part in contributing to the rise of the hypercritical discourse-y state of fandom we see today.

And it really feels like a rapid, night-and-day shift.

Now everyone is terrified of being perceived as "cringe" so it feels like there's this attitude of a sort of detached irony that wasn't there before. People just get so uncomfortable when they see other people fully embracing something, you kind of have to pretend you don't care all that much.

Or terrified of being perceived as problematic, so everyone was dancing in circles and jumping through hoops to condemn everything in sight to prove that THEY'RE definitely not problematic!

Another factor is that it feels like people STAYED in fandoms much longer then. Nowadays things blow up really fast and then disappear overnight. Everyone moves on to the next thing, and it's sometimes even seen as a little weird to still care about something that came out like, a year ago.

I don't know this got long and rambly.

Just curious to hear from more people who were active at the time.

Omegaverse and the Theatre: Idea Dump

Please build upon/ argue against/ take inspiration from these prompts!!!!! They’re based on a history of theatre class I took last semester

For a good 300+ years or so, betas would be the only people who could act for an occupation.

This was because a lot of startup theatre companies feared alphas and omegas releasing hormones on stage as they grew commercially. The effects of this still linger on, with betas having a significant percentage of acting jobs over alphas and omegas combined

Interestingly enough, omegas were allowed back on the stage before alphas (because stereotypes icky)

This isn’t to imply that hormones entirely disappeared during a performance. It’s just that for a long period of time, its presence was dulled down and de-emphasized in place of plot

Many of that era’s beta playwrights (including Shakespeare) wrote pieces about alphas and omegas as a way of mocking/satirizing them, often ironically making them reference their scents/hormones. Much of that nuance is lost now due to shifted beliefs in dynamics/culture/language

Back when theatre was first used, like for religious rituals, there would often be a synchronization of hormones.

Examples include: in Greece, the chorus often repeated phrases to incite/signal a hormone shift. In India, the hormone shifts were dependent on a director’s drum line

Some of these actors would train for decades as soon as they presented, in order to control their scent/hormone release

In fact, many physiological/anthropological historians would cite these actors as the first to master scent suppressing, jumping ahead of the medicinal/scientific curve by about a thousand years!

Sometime in the 20th century, people starting really experimenting with instinct driven theatre.

There is no script to these performances. Actors have to live through a scene/prompt designed to trigger an instinctual reaction (such as a mother losing their child, a territory brawl, etc)

I imagine it was made in reaction to world events at the time, or as a response to older art movements. The origins of Dadaism come to mind here

Everybody is SO MEAN about Bustopher Jones (joking). I love him so much but nowadays when numbers are cut his is usually one of them since he usually shows up once and disappears 🥲

The actor for Bustopher sometimes dons a chorus costume for the opening number, often named Peter. They're also usually the actor who plays Gus later, as both Bustopher and Gus traditionally had operatic moments in the show.

Tom Hooper clearly did not know how to interpret media because could you IMAGINE 2019 Bustopher cleaning up his appearance as a first impression???

When I was little, I was under the impression that Bombalurina, Jenny, and Jellylorum all liked Bustopher Jones in similar ways; it wasn't until I started interacting with the fandom on here that I learned how some people interpret Bombalurina as being completely sarcastic in this song. Art's always up to interpretation, of course, and that's the fun of it, but I never really got that impression, even with Rosemarie Ford's eye rolls. To me, this moment shows Bombalurina as a character that can show others respect. It also cements her as being at the older end of the "not-old" adults.

This is YET ANOTHER song that is PERFECT for examining whatever Pouncival is getting up to at a given moment. I am once again saying that the Pouncival cut in this show is the most fun

Have you ever watched Cats (1998) and wondered who that cat that's really excited to see Bustopher is? That's George. The George Cut (TM) is probably my second favorite version of '98, after The Pouncival Cut (TM).

No doubt, you'll notice the number of Mistoffelees & Bustopher moments in this number. This is probably where the most popular headcanon about Bustopher originates: lots of us like to think he's an uncle, usually in conjunction with monochromatic siblings (Misto & Victoria & sometimes Alonzo)(Alonzo is like. Y as a vowel). I've also seen some folks frame him as Misto's dad, and in those cases, Misto is usually an only child.

Slightly off-topic, but my friend @thepineconelord likes to think of Mistoffelees as butler-core, and I think they're especially correct in this number.

One incredibly interesting thing about this number is that it's one of the most gendered numbers in the whole show, speaking from a choreography standpoint. When I was younger, I thought it came from a position of "all of the girls have crushes so they're all fangirling together," but that's not true. Only Jenny is shown to have a crush, and Coricopat, George, and Skimbleshanks could all very easily start fanboy-ing with them.

What is it, then? Is it because Bustopher presents as a much more "traditional" character than the rest? Do the things they're describing about him ascribe to him a certain level of masculinity that he can only share with the boys? Are these formations all part of some sort of militaristic protocol? Leading from that, is his appearance at the Ball (and approval) a right of passage thing for the boys? It's not something I've really seen anybody touch on, which is odd to me, because Cats in general tends to have interesting messages re: gender roles, especially with Mistoffelees, who obviously shares some sort of close connection with Bustopher! Okay so, everything I, as a person who has been seeing this going down for 6 years now and is not a particular fan of neither side, know about the Cellbit and Sasa situation

First thing first: I'm really not a fan of Cellbit these past years. Yes he was a big part of my childhood going from 13-16 yo following him. I got to see the breakup first hand and it was around the time he was shifting his content in a way i didn't like so it was just another push for me to stop following him as close. As for nowadays, hes the BIGGEST ttrpg streamer of Brazil, he changed a lot, he has achieved SO MUCH. He's a great storyteller and rper. But its a guy I'd never sit in a bar table to talk to.

Since he was so big, i still saw all this developing as the years passed. I saw the exposed thread, and i saw sasa's first stream on the subject and his own tweet admitting to have done everything Sasa had said (and a clip, that I can't for the love of god find rn. It was in the exposed thread but some tweets have disappeared since then so :/) and to stop harassing her because she was saying the truth and he was the toxic one and he was going to do therapy

A LOT OF PEOPLE showed their support to Sasa at the time. Cellbit lost a lot of subs and a lot of YouTubers covered the situation. It WASN'T pushed under the rug, it was front and center, EVERYONE that was in the Brazilian yt environment at the time knew about it

Both him and Sasa stopped talking about it after, they said everything had been said, Sasa's friends backed her up with screenshots and sharing her vod. Sasa changed everything about her media presence, trying to distance herself from Cellbit, but ppl never stopped asking her, ever since 2018/2019, getting worse whenever Cellbit did something big, ppl relived her stuff, and she got SHOWERED in hate for it, everytime

And she asked to stop bringing it up because it wasn't doing any good, it was just bringing her more hate and making ppl distance themselves from her bc she was becoming = to drama in online communities

She says she's her own person and did everything to distance herself from Cellbit but people keep bringing that up. She says how everyweek someone still shows up to ask her about Cellbit, how when the exposed came out she got so much hate it badly fucked with her mental health. She says ppl started spreading around she was also toxic, when she wasn't AND cellbit never said she was. She then says she doesn't wanna keep talking in details or bringing it up again (which y'all can see at the very start of this same captioned clip), plus saying she left a lot of details out BECAUSE she didn't want to enter in those details

She then asks if ppl are going to keep ignoring her words (dismissing her abuse, twisting her words, ignoring her pleads to be left alone), to do it quietly without invading her chat or personal socials bc she is tired of being hammered with that everyday and she just wants to heal

Once again: Cellbit confirmed everything, and both have ended discussion, Sasa wants to be left alone

Not ask-blog related, then, but how would you get into role-playing?

honestly, just find an RP space/community (that's accepting new members) and hop right in. If you're nervous about your writing not being up to snuff, RP spaces are in my opinion the way to build up your writing. We all start somewhere and RP spaces are a great place to start and often full of beginners. You will pick it up and improve very quickly, have no fear. The general rules to be aware of in any RP space is basically just be nice and don't powerplay (which means don't do stuff like start controlling other people's characters, or deciding things for other people's characters without their permission, don't make everything in the RP about only your character, etc etc. Generally just treat everybody else and their characters with general courtesy). Also if everybody else in a space is doing only script or only paragraph format rp, try to match that. And try to make sure your writing is legible as a general courtesy cause otherwise people will have a hard time joining you in RP even if they want to - so avoid letter replacement/typing quirks (unless it's specific to the RP - see: Homestuck, though even with HS rp there is sometimes a site toggle to turn typing quirks off or similar) and do a quick scan to make sure your posts aren't super full of typos or etc.

The finding the space is really the hardest part - RP-designated spaces are becoming more difficult to find since forum boards have started disappearing (though they have also started making a resurgence!). My old forum stomping grounds have since become an adoptables pet game site - though I do know a lot of online pet game sites have very active forum communities that usually had plenty of rp. I know for a fact Flight Rising has an active RP community. Rarely you can also find some other forms of RP-designated sites, like MSPARP used to be the big one for Homestuck and had some pan-fandom offshoots, but I don't know exactly what the status is for that stuff over there. I believe MSPARP doesn't exist anymore and I don't know anything about the rest of all that.

I used to also play some RP-dedicated multiplayer games and those can be a great option, depending on the game and your personal tastes. The main one I used to play a.) i would not recommend to people lol and b.) i'm pretty sure is very dead anyways so I don't have any exact recommendations there. I hear Roblox is a good place to find RP servers in a similar vein to that type of stuff but I never got into Roblox so I cannot confirm/deny that. You can sometimes find public Minecraft servers that have rp spaces but those are harder to find nowadays. There's a ton of discord RP communities you can join though. It's a bit more difficult to search around and get a feel for them just with how discord is but there's definitely plenty of 'em.

And I am not very in the tumblr RP community spheres (or other social media rp spheres - though i have dabbled) but to my understanding with those you either find an active group and ask if they're open to new members/if you can join, or you just jump right in to making your own blog/account/etc for it. Make some prompts/rp starters for people to potentially hop in and join you with or otherwise just kind of find you and rope you into their rp group or whatever. And of course you can always start a group with your friends.

The major things with RP is just kind of figuring what type of RP you want to be doing cause that informs everything else. Do you want to do script rp (usually formatted along the lines of [CHARACTER]: *runs around*) or paragraph/prose rp (the "[Character] ran around in circles before coming to a halt before the door." type format)? Do you want to do more of a video-game type rp where you have an avatar? Do you want to do something more like a TTRPG/D&D? Do you wanna do just straight up LARP (i can't really help you with that one much that one. you'd just have to search for local LARP groups - sometimes you can find them at your local conventions)? All those things are going to point you in different directions for what you want to do. In general, if you can find RP forums you can usually find both script and paragraph rp though paragraph rp is more common. Chatrooms and video games are more likely to lean script rp format due to chat limitations though this is not always the case. Social media rp is kind of it's whole own beast and everybody does it differently or different groups do it differently but if you want to do RP stuff primarily on your own and maybe pick up a group as you go then in-character social media can be a fun route for that. Or if you're not particularly looking for collaborative RP but want to do some interactive story stuff in a similar vein, then making an askblog might be more your style.

In general right now though, looking for RP discords is a relatively easy one or you can start your own and advertise it. Tbh if you find Warrior Cat RPers they may very likely have a designated area for non-WC rp (in the past Warriors RP sites/groups/etc ive been a part of, this has been the case in all of them). Also Warriors RP is like, everywhere. You will find it. It's like a constant of the universe or something. Actually doing a quick search i found some newer WCRPG forums and they look beautiful and yes, they do have non-Warriors rp sections. Idk much about RP communities in other fandoms but you can always count on Warriors. And as mentioned before, social media RP is an easy one.

Honestly I’m a little impressed (and sad) at just how quickly my Bridgerton hyper fixation vanished.

I thought I’d be living with the obsession for a while, but I was a little disappointed (Luke and Nicola were done so dirty) at the quality and just the vibe in general. That, the insane reaction to an Newts personal life, and the 2 year wait has just put me right of, which is a shame because I was so excited for season 3

I knew it would happen. That’s why I had a queue that would take up two weeks. So that I could be here without being here 😂 and it worked apparently for a time. I stuck around for a week after the drop of part 2 I think. That’s how long it lasted for me. Now I look back with fond memories but I’m very glad I’m out.

I do agree though, it was short lived. Partly because of all the hate which was far louder than the love, partly because this is what happens when it’s released all at once. Which was why it was so important to have the world tour in between part 1 and part 2 otherwise we would have dissected all of part 1 in one week (because that is how fast the internet is nowadays, and not to mention with such a big fandom, slightly scary if you want my opinion) and then it would have been the desert. Nothing, nada, for miles to see. Dead silence for 2 weeks while we would have waited for part 2. The buzz would have died down. Instead they took a gamble, they gave us something every day or every two days, let the buzz build, and looking at the numbers theirs was a successful gamble.

What I’m saying is, it makes sense it died down so quickly. Everything has been analysed and overanalysed and said and said again in different words to the point the fandom started to sound like a broken record. We have been given nothing new. And the things we have been given we’ve leapt it all up like we’ve been dying of thirst (so apparently tonight my metaphors are titanic, ice cubes, desert and dying of thirst, a lot of water 😂). If the show was released weekly maybe things would be a little different. And you’re right the two years wait is long. Too long for the quality of what they’re producing. But then again, we live in the age of social media where we get easily bored and we now have very little patience and we want everything right away.

honestly its complicated. because on one hand its true that, given the nature of minecraft roleplay, the dsmp fandom has had a larger hand in shaping the characters (especially designs, headcanons becoming canon, etc) than in most other media. it HAS always been an extremely collaborative fandom between fans and ccs, and so a lot of characters have been fleshed out by the fans.

so i do genuinely understand the sentiment of like. they're ours no one can take them away from us. and like i agree! especially with people making really detailed AUs and intricate designs or straight up changing their names etc. i fully support people reclaiming them and putting their own spin on these characters.

but also it feels like recently people have been giving out this idea that you can only talk about dsmp if you like- put some sort of disclaimer that theyre 'yours'. like 'theyre your ocs now'.

and its fine if they are!!! its fine if cwil etc are your ocs! but it's not how everyone's gonna feel. when i post about c!wilbur im posting about that guy. the dsmp guy.

and i understand why people are in that position, given how much discomfort and pain is associated with a lot of the creators nowadays, but it feels like theres this idea of like. the separation between character and cc! disappearing after a certain threshold of bad things done by the cc. c!wilbur was a fictional character when we shipped him with c!quackity or when he headcanonned him as transfem, and he still is a fictional character now that we know what his creator was truly like. that hasn't changed!

Ok fine hiii helloooo yes i am aware i've been gone for a million years and i also know most who follow me mostly likely do not care and / or have completely forgotten about this blog (which is completely fine i promise, i'm being lighthearted and /pos). That being said, it didn't feel correct to pass by, post the silly and disappear into the wind this time around, so here goes.

Although i've always loved to post only and exclusively when i fell like it and want to, and this is a fact that does stay true even right now, there have been mayor life factors as to why i've been 99% gone. The main one, very genuinely and very simply, is me being very busy with uni. I've been studying animation since 2020, and i'm currently on my 5th out of 6 semesters before graduating. I like to keep things separate (personal art and "uni art") so I've not been sharing a lot about my journey. I feel like i owe you all more content because of this, and i may post thesis-related content once i'm more free or when i feel comfortable doing so. I've been creating parallel to all of this but i just have not felt the itch to post, the same way i've left aside social media almost entirely. To put it bluntly, it did not do me any good, and it connects to the other reason/s as to why i've been radio-silent…

On the other hand, 2023 was an entirely different level of low for me. I will not trauma-dump on you all, but i've been struggling on-and-off with my mental health virtually all my life. Intrusive thoughts since i was a child, GAD, DPDR, etc etc. During my most active years here (2016-18) i was using art as a main coping mechanism and it did help me a lot, but the bad periods only got worse since then, as they do. Once you learn to cope with a level of "severity", next time you'll need to learn to cope with a harder one, and so forth. Not always ofc, but it was like that for me and still pretty much is. Just how the fluctuating nature of my mental health is. The ever changing downward spiral that started in 2020, a year i have genuine real trouble remembering at all due to how dissociated from reality i was, hit new records each year after that. '21, '22, and finally '23 where i almost fully gave up. twice.

I'm doing a LOT better nowadays, i am not in any risk and i'm no longer a danger to my own well-being (i promise) thanks to my beloved therapist and loved ones, but '24 has been an entire year of recovering and mostly coming to terms to what has happened to me not only last but these past few years, inwards and outwards. Life has been gentler on me, and that's mainly why i got inspired to post this.

Anyways, thanks for reading if you have. Cannot promise I'll be more active but what i can promise is that i'll be around. Have a great week everyone, wherever y'all are.

Oh! Hello there! Here's something different! A rare text post! I realize I interact very rarely here (and tbh interact very rarely on social media at all, in recent years) but I'm trying to figure out a nicer balance than just dead radio silence.

I guess, hi hello. I'm King -- I'm a nonbinary artist. I draw. I love video games and cute things. And I am trying to beat my anxiety over using social media back with a stick. I dunno how many of my followers are still active here, but regardless of whether you have found me recently or stuck with me for years, you guys really mean a lot to me. It's a really quiet little corner of the internet, but it's mine, and I find comfort in knowing that there's someone out there who was kind enough to take a moment out of their life to see my work.

I want to challenge myself to start posting a little more so I'm slowly posting some of my old art backlog, but maybe also just chattering mindlessly and finding comfort in blogging again.

Man, it's really been a while since I last posted a text post, huh. To be honest, somewhere in the last 2-5 years, I've developed some kind of crippling fear of being perceived and just kind of drop my art on social media like a cat dropping a dead mouse on someone's pillow for praise and just disappear back into the ether. I miss it, though! I miss interaction even if I'm not a particularly chatty person in blog form but, hell, it's a blog and it's silly to be worried about blogging... on a blog.

So here I am. I think part of the anxiety has stemmed from trying to slowly make the switch to twitter and there being so many unspoken rules of engagement on twitter that at some point it all just got all twisted up into a big ball of "well idk how to interact so I guess I won't!" and somehow that just kind of extended to pretty much every social media thing I have. It's kind of wild how hostile social media feels nowadays -- is it just me? I know I have a lot of anxiety but I hope someone out there relates!

Tumblr is a strange blogging platform, isn't it? It makes interacting with people kind of hoop-jumpy and difficult, and yet it still feels a lot more approachable than something like twitter in my opinion (my beloathed).

I've been considering making the jump to Cara seeing so many other artists do the same (and I have made an account), but to be honest, the idea of maintaining yet another social media account fills me with so much bone-deep exhaustion.

I've been really struggling with artblock recently and finding it difficult to find enjoyment in the hobby that I loved so much and has been so formative to me. It feels strangely alienating finding myself incapable of producing artwork the way I used to, but it's been a slow work in progress. Reviving my social media accounts is a step in some direction, honestly! Or at least, I'm hoping it will be.

Tangentially related, I don't draw a lot of fanart -- not because I'm not a fan of things but more because if I spend the energy on drawing, I often want to spend it on original creations (as the #1 and singular fan in that fandom LOL), but I always feel like I should do it more often -- mostly because it's such a delight to see other fans trickle in out of the woodwork. I think this every time in the rare occasions I do post fanwork, haha!
