Empower Yourself When You Feel Powerless
Just because you are feel powerless doesn’t mean you are powerless.
Fear often stems from feeling powerless, and when we feel like we have no control over our circumstances, it can be paralyzing.
However, even small actions can create a ripple effect, reinforcing a sense of purpose.
Here are 5 ways you can take action in a way that empowers you:
💚 Advocate for What Aligns With Your Values: Whether through volunteering, donating, or community organizing, channeling your energy into meaningful causes can be empowering. Even spreading awareness within your network can contribute to change.
💚 Educate Yourself and Stay Informed: Understanding policies and upcoming elections helps you make informed decisions. Knowledge is power, and staying engaged with reliable sources enables you to take action that aligns with your values.
💚 Make a Difference in Your Immediate Community: Large-scale change can feel daunting, but focusing on your immediate community makes a tangible impact. Supporting local businesses, assisting neighbors, helping at food banks, or attending town halls fosters a sense of connection and purpose.
💚 Use Your Voice: Whether through signing petitions, writing to representatives, or speaking up in discussions, expressing your beliefs can contribute to larger societal shifts. Even small contributions to dialogue can create momentum toward change.
💚 Create Change in Everyday Interactions: Acts of kindness, listening with empathy, and uplifting others in your daily life may seem minor but contribute to a collective sense of hope and resilience.
Taking action reminds us that we are not powerless.
Even the smallest steps can build momentum toward meaningful change and provide a sense of control amidst uncertainty.

Taking care of your mental health is like tending to a garden. It requires patience, nurturing, and sometimes, a little bit of sunshine after the rain.
Remember, it's okay to not be okay. Just like every flower blooms in its own time, so will you 🌱💚

It’s happeniiiiiiiing! My pre-consult paperwork arrived in the mail, and I’ve been given the full list of things I need to round up for my appointment!
Naturally, I chose only the most worthy of all folders to hold these important medical records.

I’ve been looking for an excuse to use this bad boy for ages.
#it’s a lot but I’m excited!!#scheduled an appointment with my pcp to get my general health records#my mom’s gonna dig for my paperwork from when I had surgery on my arms#(I was still on my parents’ insurance and I’m sure as hell not tipping my dad off about this appointment)#tomorrow at work I’ll print out everything that’s available through my various mychart orgs#then on tuesday I’m meeting with my therapist to finalize her letter of recommendation#and then…#well. that gives me a week to focus on something other than my anxiety over the consult!#peaches screams into the void

Writing help please
Ok I’m throwing this out there in case anyone can help me because I know tumblr can be a vast pool of knowledge.
For writing purposes, I’m researching two things:
trauma/PTSD therapy - what sessions can look like, what therapists look for in a trauma patient during sessions, tools to cope with trauma, things that could be discussed, etc.
how different session types are structured - I’m talking individual, group, couples, surprise 4th option, whatever
As one who has not participated in an official therapy session, I want to get this right, so any suggestions, tips, information you can provide for fic purposes will be greatly appreciated.
Anon is turned on for those who want to share without their url being attached.
Thank you in advance to those who help out!

Expert Tips From a Therapist
Did you know this?
To be honest, some of these surprised me!
Emotional neglect isn’t always obvious, and it doesn’t look the same for everyone.
Here are some common ways emotional neglect can show up, sometimes in ways we don’t even realize…
🌿 Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN): Growing up in an environment where emotions were dismissed, ignored, or invalidated. This may have looked like being told “you’re too sensitive,” or “stop crying” or being expected to handle your emotions alone.
🌿 Parental Absence (Physical or Emotional): Having a caregiver who was physically present but emotionally distant, making you feel like you had to suppress your emotions to maintain peace.
🌿 Romantic Relationships: Feeling unseen or unheard in a partnership, where your emotional needs are consistently dismissed or minimized.
🌿 Friendships and Social Circles: Being the person who listens and supports others but rarely receiving the same emotional investment in return, creating a one-sided relationship.
🌿 Workplace and Professional Settings: Feeling undervalued, unsupported, or unseen in professional environments, leading to burnout, dissatisfaction, and feelings of inadequacy.
Recognizing the different ways emotional neglect can appear in our lives is the first step toward understanding its deeper impact.
Did any of these surprise you? Let us know in the comments!

What do you say to the people that question the utility of a watch, since you've got your phone?
If you have difficulty with attention, having a way to check the time without getting pulled into your phone is invaluable. Also, it's easier for me to 'understand' time visually rather than digitally, with the way my brain is wired. I wear a watch probably 80% of the time because it helps me so much with time blindness and attention.
So I like to have nice looking ones! I only have a few because I do spend money on them, so I'd like to have another one, and I think this is classy looking in the way a lot of fandom jewlery isn't always. You wouldn't know what you were looking at unless you knew.

#there's plenty of things I have that are much less useful to me#side note if you struggle with time blindness and inattention a smart watch will only make it worse#since it beams shit right to your wrist#and notifications are the time killer#anyway I own watches that work perfectly fine#so this is just a fun tips thing#instead of just getting a drink here and there I thought this would be better#and also let y'all see a ore tangible thing I'm saving for!#the clock time vs digital time thing is very common if you have#dare I say it#ADHD#according to the therapist that helped me with a lot of things#so give it a shot!

Hi, I have a bit weird question, but I saw that you have ADHD and wanted to know how you cope with it daily? Because I don't know many people who have it and I'm loosing my mind with this 😭😭
Hey thanks for the ask nonnie.
I wish I could help you with this, but truth is..... I don't even cope with it myself. My life is in shambles😭😭😭. I'm your classic ADHD kid who was brilliant is school but now is barely making it through uni. I start like ten different creative projects at a time, and I can't seem to be able to complete them.
Wish you all the best tho. Stay silly. Stay strong <3
#hey maybe you could try talking to a professional#although the internet may not be a good substitute you can start looking up some tips while you find a good therapist#god knows I need one too

has anyone tried to look up tips in how to slow down? googling: "how to slow down and be less productive due to chronic pain/fatigue" google: "10 tips to be even more productive when ill!" "how to be productive while in chronic pain!" "stay productive while you grieve the life you lost!" "keep working even if you are chronically fatigued!!!" "dont you fucking dare stop working you useless piece of shit contribute to society your worth is tied to how much you can produce!!!!!!"
#chronic fatigue syndrome#chronic fatigue#chronic pain#holy shit is near impossible to find something useful#just making us feel even worse#is not even trying to be discrete#talked about it in therapy but the therapists said those kinda articles are everywhere#is fucked up#and it would be more concerning if the brain fog wasnt clouding our brain#trying not to feel worthless while chronically ill in capitalist society challenge#trying to find any help or tips feels near impossible#and if we try to look up stuff for artists is even harder to find anything

speaking of ocd, I think I'm realizing that I truly don't have anxiety and it's literally just my ocd. im not anxious about anything until it involves me and suddenly I'm spiraling
#[static]#it's hard to describe succinctly but the anxiety I deal with nowadays is directly related to my ocd and autism#some anxiety is so easy to brush off but the ones stemming from my ocd are extremely difficult to get out from under#i'll spiral for weeks about one specific thing and ruminate on it and mentally worry and pick at it forever#it's utterly exhausting jfkdghdf some days are easier than others#and often that one thing I ruminate on becomes multiple things all stemming from the first thing#like recently it's been my car ... the thing is totally fine ... runs fine drives fine but ive been freaked out by it for the last 3 weeks#every time i go into the shop theyre like ... everything is good in fact its in good condition for its age and they'll mention like#one thing that will need to be replaced to keep it in tip top condition and then my brain will fixate on it and imagine all the ways#something horrific will happen if that doesnt get changed and then that leads to all the other things in the car suddenly freaking me out#i defs used to have general anxiety and depression but those went away literally the day i got top surgery#poof instantly gone it was wild and i kept waiting for the other shoe to drop#never did but now my ocd has been really bad the last 6 months cuz of all the extra horrifying things going on#so i thought it was just my anxiety coming back but this week i realized it was my ocd and have been treating it accordingly#and ive seen some relief but i definitely need to go back to therapy once i get my insurance again#its the only way to get a hold on it and my last therapist ended up moving states so we didnt get to work on tools for it very much#im yapping at this point i just needed to vent for a second about how truly yucky ocd makes me feel

Let me tell a little story from therapy:
Me (bitching whining complaining discussing my frustrations with the current political and economic situation): And I do think it's an appalling waste of money that these kids go get their nails done every week when I'm having to scrape together rent money--but if they do, then the people at the nail salon get paid, so it's not like I can just be like "stop that" without affecting someone else. It's a whole network and we're all tangled up in it...
My Therapist: Of course. It's impossible to be a perfect moralist.
My Brain: (☞ ͡° ヮ ͡° )☞ EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!
Me (to my brain): ... ... Did you just make "The Expression" at me?
My Brain (quieter this time): (☞ ᵕ,•ᴗ•) ☞ ...eeeeeeeey... de reference...
Me (to my brain): We're gonna have a talk about how much time you spend playing computer games when we get home.
#shut up brain#before i stab you with a q-tip#new thought acquired: screen time#i talk about economics a lot with my therapist#like a lot a lot#from day one#it's been economics with me#and politics#but mostly it's my broke-ass#yelling about capitalism being bullshit
