went to the movie theater today and when we were getting tickets, the guy at the counter (who seemed either younger than me or similar in age) goes, “okay so, two adults and one....?” glancing very, very uncertainly in my direction. Sir. SIR. S I R. I KNOW i look young but i’m about to turn 24 here and your children’s tickets are for kids up to age 11 😭

Touch Me Baby
A Sneak Little preview of a fic I've been sitting on for a while now!!
What happens when your best friend, and college roommate, Robin Buckley, finally convinces her best friend from home to come and visit the two of you? And then what happens when the two of you realize that whatever it is between you, could ruin everything?
With slight inspiration from Naked in Manhattan by Chappell Roan since I have had that song on repeat for weeks now. But because the song is dirty....the fic shall be too. We're talking slow burn, we're talking inch away from more than just friends, we're talking smut.
This is my first ever LONG fic for Steve, I think it's at like 12k now and will most likely be around 16k when finished. I love hearing all of your thoughts too!! They mean so much to me!!
Mark your Calendars for March 1 at 5 pm babes !!!
Preview Below!!
“I’m a phenomenal kisser, excuse you.”
You smiled and nudged her with your elbow. “Sure thing Birdie. You’re def not at the bottom of my list. I think Malcolm is—remember him?”
Robin burst into laughter. Steve looked between the two of you, extremely confused by the entire situationit was written all over his face.
“He used to—” You couldn’t breathe because of how hard you were laughing. The sentence was virtually unfinishable. “He-He would…” You tried to take a few breaths. “He would, uh, spray cologne in his mouth instead of using a mint because he thought that’s what it was for—”
You and Robin collapsed against one another, back into your fits of laughter. This had Steve cracking up, not just at the fact that this man was stupid, but because you and Robin’s laughs were contagious.
“She didn’t figure it out until the fourth date.” Robin blurts out, causing you to wipe away the tears in your eyes and shove her slightly.
“Shut UP. I only kissed him like twice before then and it was just pecks.”
You caught a glance of Steve out of the corner of your eye, and he was looking right at you. Your breath caught in your throat for a moment and the two of you stopped time for a moment. The corner of Steve’s mouth quirked up into a smile before he broke eye contact and looked back at Robin.
“Wood in the mouth takes a whole new meaning—”
“Oh please. Don’t even start. At least I didn’t date a married woman–”
“WHAT.”
Your eyes widened and you looked at Steve. “She didn’t tell you?”
Robin started hitting your arm. “No. I. did. Not!”
You laughed and used one of your hands to shove hers away from you. “It was like a three month relationship but she realized–”
Robin shifted tactics and clamped a hand over your mouth so you couldn’t finish the sentence. After a moment she made a gagging sound and quickly pulled her hand away. “Did you just fucking lick my hand?”
You winked at her and looked back at Steve. “She knew this woman’s wife too. A month into dating Robs found out. Rough semester.”
“Oh my god. Robin. Who are you? What else have you done that I don’t know about?”
“That’s it. If you’re going to tell him all of my wrong doings, I’m out.” Robin downed her drink and stood up. She kissed your cheek and grabbed her purse off of the chair she was sitting on.
“Remember to wear protection there kid.”
She rolled her eyes and turned towards Steve. “I know I—”
“Robs, seriously, it’s okay. Go have fun. I have been traveling all day. And I don’t mind talking to Y/n—”
“Unlike someone here I’m not going to abandon you Steve, don’t worry.”
Steve’s hand rested over his heart. “You’re too kind.”
Robin scoffed, but was smiling the whole time. “Don’t wait up mom. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
And with that, she left you and Steve sitting in the bar.

Hard To Love
Choi Beomgyu X Reader
genre & warnings: angst, fluff, kind of like soulmate au and university au, toxic relationship, cheating, cursing
word count: 2.1k
a/n: your order's up! i hope you'll like this 💚 to anyone who wants to request, please do check the rules. thank you so much~
They say that when it's really meant for you, it will naturally come to you.
You met Beomgyu during your highschool. He was friendly and nice, loud and funny, everything that you wanted for a friend. Unfortunately, you have different friend groups, and you were in a relationship.
Yes, it's in the past and it has been years since that ugly break-up.
"It wasn't what it looked like. I swear." your soon to be ex-boyfriend, Jeonghan, tried to persuade you into staying with him but you are so done.
"Really now?" you scoffed, pulling your phone out and showing him more evidence of his cheating. "So you're telling me that your lips were suddenly glued to hers?"
"No." he choked, his brain working to make up some poor excuse that he could use, "That was an accident I swear."
"Whatever, go to her for all I care."
You rolled your eyes, getting ready to leave but your steps falter when you hear his next words, "This is why I can't tolerate you."
What?
You turned to him, the tears that you tried to keep threatened to fall, "What did you say?" you whispered that for some reason he still heard.
"I said," he took a deep breath, "this is why I chose other girls instead of you."
Huh. Is he trying to put the blame on you?
"You're saying it's my fault?" you shakily asked.
"Of course, it fucking is." he laughed dryly, "You don't come with me to parties, you don't want to take photos with me, heck, you don't even hold hands with me in public."
You took a step back, not believing that he had the audacity to use your insecurities against you. He knew you were prone to social anxiety, that you think you don't look photogenic enough, and that if he's seen with you, then some people might think that he's too good to be with you.
"Well, now that's out in the open," he walked towards you, his hand moving under your chin to lift it up, allowing you to take a good look at his smug expression, "I'll gladly say that you're a good riddance, my love."
The way he said 'my love' that day was full of disgust, and thinking about it now made you shrink back.
But it has been three years since then. You're in college now and you can proudly say that you've been working on yourself after that.
You loved and took care of yourself. Your confidence soared and you took an oath (in the mirror) to not fall in love again because all men are crap.
You were too deep in thought that you didn't notice the figure in front of you, making you bump into it.
"Shit. I'm sorry."
"Oh no, I- Hey, you look familiar."
You glanced up when a voice that you were sure you had heard before resonated in your ears. He does look familiar as well.
The male was staring at you intently before a bright grin appeared on his face, "Ah! Y/N!"
You blinked, "Beomgyu? You know me?"
He chuckled at your question, "Of course I know you, we were classmates back in highschool."
"Right." you laughed awkwardly, not really knowing what to do.
"Seems like we both attend the same university. Come on." he gestured for you to walk with him, to which you gratefully accepted.
It was a few minutes of walk and you truly enjoyed his company. He was still the same old Beomgyu that you used to know. A sense of comfort washing over you, knowing that some people remain kind.
Shockingly, you both stopped in the same classroom.
"My room's right here." you told him, looking at him to say your goodbyes.
"What a coincidence, this is mine as well."
Bold of you to assume that he walked you to your classroom. Seriously, Y/N, get yourself together.
"Seems like we're classmates again," he grinned at you, "would it be okay then if I sit beside you."
You gave a small smile and shook your head, watching him occupy the seat beside you.
This wasn't so bad, maybe you can befriend him now since no one is stopping you from doing so.
It was uncanny to say the least, because everywhere you go, Choi Beomgyu was there.
You went to the library to borrow a book, but the said book was placed high on the shelves. As you tried your best to get it through your tiptoes, he was suddenly behind you, reaching for it with ease before handing it to you.
You want to go study in the campus coffee shop but it was full, no worries! Beomgyu is sitting all by himself, you can share the table with him.
Your favorite drink in the vending machine was not available anymore? What a tragedy! Good thing that your knight in shining armor, aka Beomgyu, bought one in the convenience store this morning.
Soon enough, Beomgyu's presence became permanent in your life. It's like you're always looking for him, missing him when he's not there and this is a dangerous game you're playing.
You convince yourself every night, that no, you're not growing feelings for your friend. That you will never, ever have feelings for him.
If you're going to be honest, Beomgyu is the definition of 'perfect boyfriend' in everyone's ideal type book. It's just that... you made a promise to yourself and your pride was way too sky-high to break that. Whenever you think about entering a relationship once more, it makes you want to throw up. The trauma and insecurities that you had successfully buried will be out in the open, and you won't risk it.
"Yeonjun will be hosting a party this weekend, you should come." Beomgyu excitedly invites you while eating in the cafeteria.
"Can't. I have a lot to do."
Not particularly a lie, but even after all this time, parties are still not your thing.
"Why?!" he whined, "It'll be fun!"
"Beomgyu." you sternly said, and you kept your hands to yourself when he started throwing a tantrum like a kid.
"Stop it!" you held him, panicked eyes roaming around in fear that people might judge you if they saw the scenario.
"No! I will not stop, not unless you come with me!"
"Fine!" you said, exasperated at his antics but you couldn't help but smile at his small cheer of triumph.
Come Saturday night and you already want to punch Beomgyu. He went with you to the party and introduced you to his other friends (Yeonjun the host of the party, Soobin, Taehyun and Kai), then left to get some drinks.
What made your blood boil is that it's been thirty minutes now and he's still not back.
You sighed and pinched the bridge of your nose, heaving through the crowd and walking towards the veranda for a breather.
Finally, some fresh air.
"Didn't know that you come to parties now, Y/N. You've changed."
Fuck it. You'll recognize that voice anywhere.
You closed your eyes, 'Okay, calm down. Don't look at him. Don't talk to him.'
"Ignoring me? Is that the effect that Beomgyu has on you? Being rude?"
Your will crumbled at the mention of your friend's name, spinning around and throwing a harsh glare to the person who keeps on bothering you, "Please keep your nose away from my business," your eyes narrowed, venom in your voice as you prepared to say his name, "Jeonghan."
"Woah!" the man held his hands up in defense, "That's some way to greet me, princess." he smirked, loving the way you get riled up because of him.
"Don't call me that. If you're not leaving, then I will." you said with finality, walking away from him but then his hand gripped your arm tightly.
"No. You're not going anywhere." he moved too fast, and within a mere seconds he had you pinned on the wall, his face too close for comfort.
"Let me go!" you yelled, anxiety spiking up as your heart started beating fast, "Jeonghan! I said let go or else!"
"Or wha-"
A loud thud echoed, followed by a grunt and the next thing you knew is that Jeonghan is slumping by the floor, a menacing gaze directed towards your friend.
You sighed in relief, "Beomgyu!"
"I'm here now." he glanced at you with a soft look, "You're safe."
"You have a lot of courage doing that to me, kid." Jeonghan ridiculed Beomgyu, but the latter didn't budge. Though his next move surprised you, his arm wrapped itself around your waist as he held you close to him.
"I'd do anything for my girlfriend."
What? What is happening right now?
You suddenly met with your ex. Then he had you in a compromising position when no one was looking. And then.. Beomgyu.
He called you his girlfriend?
No. This can't be happening.
Your world was spinning and you think that if you stayed there longer, you might do something that you'll regret in the future. So you ran, disregarding Beomgyu's call for you.
"You seriously don't plan on sulking all week." your friend whom you met during a project last year, Ryujin, said on the other line as she tried to comfort you.
You groaned, tossing around your bed and replying to her tiredly, "Watch me."
You heard some shuffling in the background before she sighed, "You know what, lemme just go to you myself."
"Ryu! I am not in the mood for-!" the call ended before you could complete the sentence which made you groan once again. Ever the stubborn Ryujin, you supposed that you could use her company.
It has been a shitty week of avoiding Beomgyu, going as far as not attending your classes.
Beomgyu did his best to connect with you. Sending endless messages and calling you every now and then despite not answering. You did not have the heart to block him. He's still your friend, a precious someone that you don't want to lose but at the same time, you're still confused about everything.
You were pulled out of your daze when your doorbell rang. Willing yourself to get out of your bed and open it.
"Ryu, you didn't even let me get ready."
"No worries. I still think you're beautiful."
So this is what it feels like when your friend betrays you, huh? Ryujin probably told him to come here, she did a great job of setting this up.
You gulped, seeing the dilemma you're about to face in its physical form. You're tempted to shut the door but you were frozen at the spot.
When Beomgyu sees you standing still, he took this as an opportunity to explain himself, "I knew what happened to you and Jeonghan."
You grimaced at the mere mention of your ex's name, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude into your personal life. Just back then.. it was a huge issue, y'know?"
You nodded, staring at your feet like it's the most interesting thing in the world, not having any choice but to listen to him intently.
"I-I.. I'm sorry Y/N I know this is all too sudden but I really had the urge to protect you that night." he admits, balling his fists tightly, "I hated him, that man, what he did to you was fucked up."
"Beomgyu?" you finally glanced up at him, your heart wrenching at the sight of him looking so small.
It's now or never, you took a deep breath and asked him the dreaded question, "Why did you do that? Why do you feel like that?"
His answer was immediate, firm and his pretty brown orbs gazed at yours with determination, "I like you."
"Even if I'm like this?"
You did not need to elaborate further, he understood what you meant.
Even if you had a lot of baggage, even if you're not sure of yourself, even if you can't fully commit to him.
"Yes." Beomgyu walked towards you, engulfing you in his embrace, "I like you despite everything. I like you for who and what you are."
You closed your eyes, remembering what your grandparents used to tell you.
"They say that when it's really meant for you, it will naturally come to you."
You finally knew what that meant. Choi Beomgyu made you realize and feel what it really meant.
You may drive him insane, you might accidentally push him away and hurt him, but it's okay. As long as he can hold you like this, assure you that he'll always be there then all is well.
Loving you may be difficult, but he sure as hell made it look like it's easy.

Hudson and Rex S03E09 - Grave Matters - PART B
"I told you departmental policy, Sarah". Literally 15 seconds later: "Maybe if I dip into Camilla's college savings..."
Joe: "You could lose your house". Sarah: "I know but this is Charlie we're talking about".
What do you mean you're going to search what kind of sprinkler systems are on this time of year? How could that be an amount small enough worthy of investigation?
Not the wheezing sound!
Wrong grave, guys.
Regardless of grief and whatnot, that woman and her husband were psychotic. If you really think that the police has done you such a grave disservice during the course of the investigation on your son (which they hadn't), then just shoot the guy. Don't torture him like that.
If tortured, then why so sexy?
"I'm giving you hope and then I'm gonna take it away". I mean, this is seriously fucked up. Imagine the entire thought process behind that. You can murder someone in less than a second. But imagine the thought process in all this. The lack of regret. And they've had him for hours, not one of them felt remorseful enough to let him go.
"So you can feel what my son felt in that coffin after you botched his investigation". Okay, but he wasn't the one who did it, not to mention that it was ultimately the fact that they paid the ransom that killed the kid (which they don't know). Why torture him like this?
"What have you done?" Ugh, I love the moment where he realizes that they probably buried another innocent person. His reactions and everything are show on point.
"The judges and lawyers were covering up for SJPD's mistakes". Okay, that might happen, at least from the police's side. It's rare that the entire judiciary system helps with a coverup (unless we're talking about countries like Greece). Still, not what happened here.
No comment. Just enjoy.
"You wouldn't talk to us even after the trial was over". That's not a crime punishable by torture and death!
"All to protect your precious reputation". lol what the fuck are you on about? Dude seriously solves crimes with a dog! I'd expect the entire police aside from those working close to him (who I assume respect him) to be calling him Ace Ventura.
"I didn't want you to know that paying the ransom triggered Noel's death". See? Next time tell the people everything, no matter how callous it may sound. Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves.
How did you miss, man? It wasn't that much of a distance.
"I smell Charlie!"
In such episodes, they always end up digging with their hands out of desperation. A dog pulling the rope, though, that's new. Not necessarily what I'd put him in charge of, given that he has four paws.
Found him!
This is a friendly hug. Also, look at Charlie staring at the sky. He really thought he would never see it again.
You two are never beating the "in love with each other since at least S3" allegations.
Charlie burying his face on Rex's fur, saying "Hi". I'm fine.
"You and your husband buried Patrick Gillespi" What about you, Charlie? Also, this is highly inappropriate, having the victim of the abduction interrogate his abductor.
"The bad news is that you're going to jail for a very long time". No, that's actually great news.
"I'm really sorry". Apology not accepted!
"Why did you go in with her? Are you okay? Can I bite her?"
"How'd it go?" "About the same as it always goes". Oh, do you get kidnapped often? She's not asking about a regular case.
"I heard about the money. And what you were willing to do for me." "It wasn't just me. Joe too." Not to minimize Joe's input but the minute the ransom demand was heard, Sarah was already on the phone.
"Thank you." "You would have done the same for us." "Well, I don't know. I really do like the house I just bought." Stop it. Also, I'd love to see the opposite happen too.
"I didn't think we could do this anymore." Well, it's not every day where they have to dig you out of a grave, Charlie.
Even more looks.
"To this team, and the fact that we're all still breathing." Who would have thought that being a cop in St. John's would be roughly as dangerous as a Mission Impossible movie?
Exposure therapy. Count the traumatic cases, by the way. They're starting to pile up. Keep that in mind.
This is one of my favorite episodes. It's too bad they never mention the whole ordeal again. What deity do I offer a sacrifice to in order to get this kind of angst again?

Chapter 9: Riptide
Masterlist
Summary: making hero names and leaving for training
Trigger warning: none that I know of
It’s now the next day after everything and the family at the store getting things for dinner. I yawn and get out of bed. I get ready since Izuku is coming over. I go downstairs and open the door for Izuku before he can knock.
“I forgot you could do that.” He says.
“Come on.” I open the door more and he walks in. I close the door and head to my room. I sit on my bed and he sits at my desk.
“I wanted to talk about-.” He stops and looks at a notebook.
“Is that my hero notebook?” I nod and he grabs its.
“I was fixing it, It’s not done but you can take it if you want.” I look at my hands not wanting to really talk about the notebook.
“Thank you Y/n. I thought it was gone, I’m really glad its still alive!”
“Yeah, anyways you wanted to talk.”
“Oh yeah! I’ve been thinking about your quirk and what had happened during the usj. I think I have a solution.” I raise my eyebrow.
“So from my understanding something happened in the water. Causing you to uh, change? And your sixth sense could prevent it!”
“So we use my weakness to prevent the worst.”
“Yes! Though we’d have to find the in between too much and too little.”
“So we’d have to do testing. Which could either go really well or really bad.”
“We’ll start with a few then go up, though I need to find a way to build something to keep on you.” He starts mumbling, I just let him finish. Ring ring, I grab my phone and see it’s Denki.
“One second.” I go to the hallway and answer.
“Hey Denki.”
“Hey! So I would ask Sero but he’s busy. Oh- not that you don’t have good taste!“
“All good, what’s the problem?”
“Do you like, “Hey name Denki Kaminari!” Or should I go with, “Hi! I’m Denki Kaminari!” Maybe something different?”
“I think the first ones good. I do have to go I’ll see you at school.”
“Okay bye!”
“Bye!” I hang up and go back to him still mumbling.
“Dude?”
“Oh- sorry! I’m gonna go home to do some research. I’ll talk to you later about it!” He goes with his notebook and I just wave. Man, it’s Sunday, school’s tomorrow.
“It's different when they broadcast the matches on TV after all, huh?” Denki says.
“So many people talked to me on my way here!” Mina says.
“Yeah, me too!” Kirishima says, why’s everyone around my desk?
“People were staring at me, too. It was kind of embarrassing!” I honestly don’t know her name.
“Isn't that normal for you, Hagakure?” Sero asks, Damn.
“Anyone notice you?” Mina asks. I nod.
“This kid went up to me and tried to punch me, same kid asked for my tooth, and then the dad yelled at me for saying no.” I say.
“I-.” Kiri stumbles.
“Your tooth??” Tsu asks.
“The kid started to cry then I felt bad. So I gave her 20 bucks.” Denki pats my back.
“…”
“She still cried.”
“Where was Bakugo for this?” Sero asks.
“She got fucking lost in target.”
“Fuka are you okay?” Momo asks.
“I just wanted a lego.”
“Here.” Momo gives me 20 bucks. I shake my head, no.
“I’ll just get my college savings.”
“For the last time a bunch of bubbles in a treasure chest is not money!” Katsuki yells at me.
“MY GREAT GRANDMA GAVE ME THAT!”
“IT STILL NOT FUCKING MONEY!”
“Shut it you two.” When Sensei get here? Everyone sits down.
“Mr. Aizawa, your bandages are gone. Kero.” Tsu says.
“The old lady went overboard with her treatment. More importantly, we're having a special hero informatics class today.” Oh no, I didn’t study for anything.
“Code names. You'll be coming up with hero names. This is related to the pro hero draft picks I mentioned the other day. The drafts begin in earnest in the second and third years, after students have gained experience and can become immediate assets to the pros. In other words, for them to extend offers to first years like you shows that they are interested in your future potential. These offers are often cancelled if that interest dies down by graduation.”
“Easy we just gotta prove ourselves!”
“Sure, and here are the totals for those with offers.” He moves to the side and shows the list.
Todoroki- 4,123 Bakugo- 3,556 Fuka- 3,118 Tokoyami- 360 Iida- 330 Kaminari- 272 Yaoyorzu- 180 Kirishima- 68 Uraraka- 20 Sero- 14
“In other years, it's been more spread out, but all eyes were on these three this year.”
“I thought I’d have none.” I say.
“Why?” Uraraka asks.
“I threatened multiple people.”
“Right, well maybe they looked pass it!”
“Todoroki's first, and Bakugo's second? It's the opposite of their placement in the sports festival.” Kiri says.
“Some people are too scared to ask for a guy, who had to be restrained on the podium.” Sero says.
“What're the pros scared of?” Denki asks.
“Katsuki alone, Katsuki with me, Katsuki with his mom, Katsuki fighting Izuku.” I reply.
“His mom?” I nob.
“Keeping these results in mind, whether or not anyone asked for you, you will all be participating in internships with pros. At USJ, you already got to experience combat with real villains, but it will still be meaningful training for you to see pros at work firsthand.”
“That why we got hero names!” Mina says.
“Can mine be a swearword!”
“No Fuka.” Suddenly Midnight comes through the door.
“Well, those hero names are still temporary, but if you're not serious about it…You'll have hell to pay later! Because a lot of hero names used by students become recognized by society, and they end up becoming professional hero names!” She says.
“Midnight!”
“I can’t do names so she’ll do it.” He then goes into his shack.
“It will be fun!” She pass out white boards and I think of what to put. Me and Katsuki have had the same hero name since 3rd grade, so it wasn’t that hard. After a couple people go I go up.
“Riptide, stretch of turbulent water in the ocean, which is caused by the meeting of currents or sometime abrupt changes in depth. Basically comes out of nowhere and drags you into the ocean.”
“Doesn’t that cause deaths?” Midnight asks.
“Everything does.” I say back.
“This is going to scare kids.”
“Girl, fuck them kids.” Some kids holds in their laugh.
“Young lady-.” She puts her hands on her hips.
“If a name of a normal occurrence is scary to a kid then that isn’t my problem. There are much more scary thing then a name. Hell, I’m scared of orcas yet you don’t see me pissing my pants every time Gang Orca is mentioned.”
“But your naming yourself after a traumatic experience.”
“I’m going to become a villain and name myself kitten and rainbows then.” She stares at me and sighs.
“You can keep the name if you can name one other hero with a scary name. Go.” I smile.
“Midoriya.” He looks up from his board.
“Gunhead, Master Driller, Godzillo, Deatharms, Snipe, Fireblas-.”
“Go sit.” Midnight cuts him off. I sit and watch Katsuki go up. Dudes gonna make a fool of himself.
"King Explosion Murder." He holds the broad, everyone starts laughing.
“You probably shouldn't use something like that.” Midnight says.
“Why not?” He raises his eyebrow.
“You should be Explosion Boy!” Kiri yells.
“Shut up, Weird Hair!” He yells.
“What about Kem? It’s shorter.” He glared at me and I shrug.
“Lord Explosion Murder.” He says as if that’s better.
“The king part wasn’t the problem.”
“Lem!”
“Shut up y/n!”
“Damn he used your real name.” Denki says.
“Oh my god I just thought of the best one.” I get up and whisper it to Katsuki. He thinks about it and erases the board. He writes it down and Midnight smiles at it.
“Ground Zero.” (Broski dynamight or however you spell it sucks ass 💀)
“Good!” We go sit and wait for a few others to go. After that Sensei comes out.
“Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we'll go back to talking about the internships. They will last for a week. As for where you'll have them, those who had offers from pros will be given your own lists, so you can choose from those yourself. Those who didn't have offers will choose from among forty agencies around the country that will be accepting our interns. They all work in different places and have different specialties. For example, Thirteen would be focused on rescues from accidents and disasters more than fighting villains. Think carefully before you choose.”
“Yes sir!”
“Turn in your choices before the weekend.”
“That’s only 5 days!” I says.
“How much time did you need??” Mina asks.
“I don’t know man I suck at making decisions!”
“Samee.” Sero says.
I look at my list and even though I disagree with numbering heroes. I decided I’ll only do top ones, I’m not gonna go through 3,000 something people. My highest being best Jeanest, too proper. Gang Orca? Hell no. I skip through and see Mirko. I think I’ll go with her? I mean she’s a great hero, so why not?
It’s finally time to leave. We’re all outside waiting for the buses.
“You all have your costumes, right? Remember, you aren't allowed to wear them in public.”
“Yes sir!”
“Make sure you mind your manners with the heroes at your internships! Off with you, now.”
“Yes, sir!” We all head to the bus I wait back and walk to Sensei.
“What’s wrong Fuka?”
“I know this sounds super weird but could you take this bag?” I hand him one of my bags that was heavier then the rest. He raises an eyebrow but takes it.
“His names Lenny, just get him a coloring book and he’ll be cool.” He takes a double take and I blotted to my bus. Once I’m on I grab my phone and text the gang for a bit.

Landcaster Legacy Gen 7 Update #50
Dear Diary, Leo is leaving for university today. I think I can convince him into allowing Lacy to move into his room for senior year. I love sharing with her, but it'd be nice to get my room back… -Violet
That morning, while preparing a special going away breakfast for Leo, Rosie approached her with a golden opportunity. "Listen, mom," Rosie began. "I've been thinking, and with Leo going away this seems like the perfect time to turn Leo's room into the most epic playroom ever."
"Rosie, no," Mads said sternly. "But mom," Rosie complained. "Leo still needs a place to sleep when he comes home from time to time." "We have a couch." "Rosie, no."
"You sure you're all good with Leo, and Owen, going off to college today?" Violet checked in with Lacy. "Totally!" Lacy lied. "I haven't even thought about it, Owen who?" "Lace?" "What? I'm serious. He deserves closure," it pained Lacy to admit that.
"You know that I'm here is you ever want to talk, right?" Violet asked. "Yeah, I know," Lacy said hesitantly. She paused for a moment before saying, "I just, I don't know." "My dad still probably had a number to that therapist I saw a few years ago," Violet offered. "We'll see."
After getting her epic playroom idea shot down by Mads, Rosie headed straight to the source. "Leo!" she exclaimed holding her arms out for a hug. "You know you've always been my favorite brother." "What do you want, Rosie?" he asked skeptically. "I can't miss my big brother?"
"Look, I'll cut to the chase," Rosie said. "I'm hoping you'd be so kind as to let me turn your bedroom into the best playroom of all playrooms when you move out." "Rosie, I'm just going to college." "I know that, but-" "Where am I going to sleep when I come home?" "The couch?"
Before Leo had a chance to respond, Mads called everyone for breakfast. "So, I've been thinking, mom," Violet began. "With Leo moving out-" "Nobody is getting Leo's room, end of story." "Thanks for that, Mom," Leo smiled.
After breakfast, Leo pulled Violet aside. "I'm leaving for college in an hour, and then you're going to be the biggest sibling in the house, that's a huge responsibility." "Do you see who you're talking to?" "Yes," he said skeptically. "That's why we're having this conversation.
"Okay, I admit that I've had my problems in the past, but I'm a new and improved Violet now." "Uh-huh," Leo raised an eyebrow. "Remember, Rosie, Sophie, and Alex are going to be looking up to you, so you have to make sure you're making good choices, because they it all." "Yeah."
"Oh, it's exactly how I remember it," Mads exclaimed as soon as they took the elevator up into tidal tower. "I can't believe Leo got the same dorm I stayed in." "I mean there are only two," Ethan pointed out.
"Dude!" Owen exclaimed as Leo came up the stairs. "Hey!" Leo exclaimed. "Excited to start classes in a few days?" "Hell, yeah, fresh start! Some classes that might actually challenge me." "I know what you mean there."
After setting up the dorm, Mads sat down with Leo. "You know, we are so proud of you," Mads told him. "As much as we're going to miss you, I want you to have a good time. Don't study too much, have some fun while you're at it." "I got it, mom." "I'll miss you."
"What your mom said," Ethan told Leo. "I'll make sure to stop home and visit soon," Leo assured him. "One more hug for the road," Ethan pulled him in.
Next it was Nat's turn to say her goodbye. "I'll come visit in two weeks, how does that sound?" "That sounds perfect actually," Leo smiled at her. "I will be counting the days." "You better, because if I come to visit and find out you've been flirting with other girls." "Never."
Leo pulled Nat in for one last kiss. "I swear, never," Leo assured her after he pulled away. "Owen can rat me out if I look at another girl in a non-platonic way." "Good," Nat said. "You've got nothing to worry about though, you're my one and only," Leo grinned.
"Now that all of your goodbyes are done, what do you say we head to the bar and meet some people," Owen suggested. "You're too young to drink." "Not too young to talk to people though," Owen pointed out. Leo thought for a moment, his mom did tell him to have fun, "sure."
"Um, well, I guess I'll have whatever a zebra fizz is," Leo ordered, and the bartender immediately began making his drink. "So how is it?" Owen asked. Leo made a face, "Not my kind of thing," he admitted. "OMW! Look who it is!" exclaimed Maggie before Owen had a chance to reply."
The trio talked for a while before Maggie excused herself. "You know," Leo admitted. "This really isn't my thing; would you be mad if I head back?" "Absolutely not, you tried it, didn't like it, that's cool." After Leo left, Owen sat at a back table and talked with Maggie.

Generation One - Chapter Nine
River tries to deal with Havarti interloping in her home, all while wondering what the future has in store for her.
River agreed to let Havarti stay at her house, not realizing she was going to be hanging around for over a week.
The first few nights were fun. It was like having a sleepover, something River hadn't experienced in a while.
After the third morning, however, River was kind of sick of playing caretaker to her far more privileged friend.
I think considering all I've been through, this should be the other way around... River thought to herself.
But she couldn't help but feel bad when Havarti said things like that. She liked Havarti's dad, but knew he was a work-a-holic and he was pushing Havarti to be one too. And even after his marriage to Malibu's mom, he was probably more focused on them than his own daughter.
All River could do was be there for her friend.
"You have got to be kidding me." River dropped her voice to a whisper, "You can't be getting high around my family. Go inside and come down."
River could hear a snicker coming from Mercy as Havarti went inside.
"Don't you dare say anything to mom about this."
Mercy smiled sweetly, "The person you don't wanna tell is grandma. She'd probably follow Havarti around until she shared her stash."
River sighed, not knowing how her younger sister knew about that sorta thing, and went inside hoping Havarti wasn't causing any trouble.
She honestly couldn't blame Havarti, again, if she'd been caught smoking anything, even a cigarette, by her dad, she would be dead. At least it was just weed and Mercy was right, their grandma was pretty permissible.
Havarti was fine anyways. Amusing herself in the basement while watching reality TV. River left her to her own devices and went to sleep, hoping that her friend would behave for the rest of the time spent at her house.
The next day River did get to meet up with Havarti in the park after school.
"Ordering without me?" Havarti snuck up behind River and poked her in the sides.
"Oh! You're actually hungry after last night?"
"Nah. I was just kidding."
"Don't pretend you're not happy. I know I've overstayed my welcome. Plus, you have class this weekend. I don't wanna be a distraction."
"Ugh, don't talk to me about class. It sucks."
"Just think, only like two more months and we graduate! Have you applied for any scholarships yet?"
"I haven't done anything yet."
"Well, me, you, and Cassandra should meet up to discuss our options."
"I thought Foxbury was the only option."
"That's not what I meant." Havarti shook her head, "I mean, we need to discuss what we're doing at Foxbury. Where we're gonna live, what we're gonna study..."
River hadn't actually thought about that yet. She'd been too distracted with other things. Although, it wouldn't help to start researching. That night she went home and after everyone was in bed she snuck into her grandpa's office to look at what college had to offer.
The next morning she stopped Garrett before he left to run errands.
River thought for a minute. She was good at most subjects except art, but she didn't particularly like any of them. She had enjoyed learning Komorebigo with Ichiban...
Maybe...
"You've got a lot of options then!" Garrett said, "There's a lot you can do with foreign studies - go into business, the military..."
"I can't stand being told what to do that much!"
"Okay fine, not the military, but there are others - like the secret service...!"
The secret service? If Ichiban was in a criminal organization, that might be her best option for finding him... It was an option she would keep in mind.

*Throws a smoke grenade on the ground and rolls into place as the air clears*
(Okay, I'm prefacing this by saying this is Comic Only Canon stuff. I've watched exactly three episodes of Young Justice. Some things have also been retconned.)
Roy Harper has gone by several hero names. He started as Speedy, the sidekick and ward to Green Arrow. From there, he became Arsenal and Red Arrow.
Roy was the orphan of a parks services employee who was killed in a fire when he was a toddler. He was raised by a Navajo tribal elder called Brave Bow, who taught him archery. Roy's Navajo roots are very important to him- he prays in Diné bizaad(which was his first language), raised his daughter to have a connection with that part of their heritage, and spends time on his home reservation a lot.
When he was sixteen or seventeen, Oliver just kind of... Fucked off with Hal Jordan to see America. While he was gone, Roy couldn't really handle being on his own (I'm not gonna get into opinions on Oliver Queen here, because it's a really divided camp) for so long and started using drugs as a way to cope. He eventually started using heroin. When Ollie found out, he kicked him out. For a time, Roy was homeless. He's relapsed a few times, but has been sober for a while now.
While his friends from the Titans like Dick and Wally were going off to college, Roy started to work as an undercover agent for Checkmate, as well as a sharp shooter. During on of his missions he met Jade Nguyen, aka Cheshire. They slept together and she conceived Lian. Roy didn't know about this until Lian was already a few months old. He fought for, and won custody of her. But he makes sure to keep Jade as a part of her life, bringing her to see her in prison regularly.
Lian was killed in an attack on Star City. In the Convergence event, a time traveller 'rescued' her the morning of the attack to bring her forward in time, to manipulate Roy into killing his friends. He didn't, but saved Lian anyway. So it is canon that on New Earth at least, Roy and Lian are alive and well, picking up right where they left off. On Prime Earth, Lian wasn't killed but thrown around in time. She's now a young teenager instead of a five year old, but she's back with Roy.
After one of his relapses, Roy decided he should check into a rehab facility called Sanctuary, where he was killed. He was resurrected during a multiversal reboot.
Some Roy Trivia Tidbits:
He is Jason Todd's best friend.
The two of them ran a Heroes For Hire business with the contact number RED-ARSE
He and Jason shared (or possibly still do share) a bank account
He led one of the Teen Titans teams
Bart Allen calls him Dad sometimes
He used to be a drummer in a band called Great Frog
He's a horny slut and proud of it
He is very open and affectionate with his friends. He frequently tells them he loves them, and isn't shy about hugs
When he lived in New York with the Outsiders, his nannies for Lian were men
He will stand up to Batman about how he treats his kids
Waylon Jones (Killer Croc) is his rehab sponsor, and considers Roy the 'Only good thing he's done in his life'
He is an Omega. (*squints down at the smudged writing on my hand*) Oh! He's an Omega Lantern. He's also a Black Lantern.
Seriously, he's an Arrow and a Lantern two times over. He's Batman's worst nightmare for a son in law...
The characters he's paired with most regularly:
Jason Todd ("That's my Jaybird.")
Kori Anders ("Best. Girlfriend. Ever.")
Jason Todd and Kori Anders ("We're supposed to be together, dammit. That's the only destiny that matters to me.")
Dick Grayson ("I always thought you boys would make a swell couple. In an erotic Butch and Sundance kind of way...")
Wally West ("You're looking at me kinda weird." "It must be love.")
Donna Troy ("There you are, my handsome little Artemis.")
Grace Choi ("You've gotta stop carrying me around." "You love it.")
Someone give me a crash course in Roy Harper!! I want to add him to Hyena and Hood but I know nothing about him ;o; His name is Arsenal right? Is he Lian's father or is that the clone? The clone's name is... Will?

Given you amazing theories on what the Wu family situation could be like (one of the best and unique ones I've heard so far), how about one sorta focusing on Marcy and the relationship with her sister (and maybe parents) as a drabble request?
Hey, dude.
It's been a while since we talked. I wanted to give you the scoop on my daily life, since it's been — what — a year since we said stuff face-to-face? And might as well tell you something now that you're here.
I just finished my five years! Finally, after all the tears and dorm laundry, I am out of that place and onto somewhere cool. Really.
The board kept trying to delay me with all these counselors and mishaps and the whole major fiasco, but now that's out of the way, nothing's stopping me!
Like I said before, our family is going to get back another pair of shoes in the house eventually, but maybe that doesn't have to be the case? Not right now, at least. Because a lot of stuff happened during college. A lot of growing and realizing stuff, you feel me?
Remember her?
You know, her her?
Oh, what am I kidding, of course you know what I'm talking about. You saw her at my dorm two years ago. She kept going on about how I was being a dick because I kept bragging about how I definitely kicked her butt in those competition courtyards. I don't know why I'm even telling you this, I guess I'm just being nostalgic.
Well, so that same person who called me an affectionate dickhead wanted to plan something with me. She's one of the top grades. Scholarships love her, that kind of bizz. Okay, so, she wanted me to move in with her sometime after graduation since we have this plan of doing our own engineering projects, isn't that exciting?
Me and her, moving in. Sappy, sappy, junk like that. I can practically hear you laughing at me as we speak, but don't be surprised when I laugh at your wedding and embarrass you in front of your spouse.
Because I will do it. I will.
Alright, so we're getting off track here.
We got this plan going. It's not a good plan, it's still flimsy in making a Plan B situation if all else goes to shit, but we're doing really good in just this "honeymoon" phase of our talks. Cause, dude, she gets real passionate about it. It's cute.
I hope you can see our house one day. It'll be cool with neat roofing, awesome aircon, and I'll definitely get some anime posters somewhere in the place. You can pass by and say hello so you can be a nuisance. Or a jerk.
Yeah.
It'll be nice if we can just hang out with the robots. Babe always said that our lil robo guy would've loved to meet you someday, especially since he knows how to scavenge around for new parts like no one's business.
Remember the mall? We used to go there just to mess up the arcade games. You'd carry my toolkit and I'd just see what the pinballs can do as long as no one outed and banned us for "vandalism".
I'd also invite you to meet-ups at the local automation conferences. My professor is such a hot shot with those places, we practically felt like celebrities. Like the boba shop? With all those cool mint flavors and coffee flans? Everyone thought we were champs from chugging them whole, oh dude.
Don't you remember that? I do. I remember a lot of things because I'm great. I'm a great big sister. Yeah. Yeah, yeah...
And great big sisters remember all this stuff so you don't have to. Because apparently memory problems run in our family.
Mhm.
Because it's great to think about what we've done. I don't want to forget this stuff. I don't want you to forget this stuff.
I want to think that talking to you, right now — it sounds so stupid if I say it like this — is keeping me from forgetting.
Like I can finally stop blaming myself for being so stupid. And you're just laughing and reassuring me that I'm just being my loud, goofy self.
And you're not hurting anymore. That you're fine wherever you are.
But I don't know if it's working. I hope it is. I'm not religious? Am I religious? Ugh, and to think I got everything checked out.
I've been in this parking lot for an hour. Just talking to you. And to myself.
I don't know. I'm just sorry that I didn't take care of you more.
I just wish I had more time.
I should've said this stuff at the beginning but I don't think talking to you about morbid stuff at the start would've been the best. And now it's eleven p.m. and babe's probably worried now.
I can't blame her cause I'm just talking to myse—to you in front of the mall. I should've been home ten minutes ago.
You won't mind if I just go home now, right? I mean, I don't want to leave you alone, but I got work tomorrow and it's gonna be killing me, I guarantee it.
Okay.
Goodnight, Marce.
I love you.
#amphibia#marcy's sister theory#marcy wu#asks#Anonymous#fanfic#I'm just gonna mark all my marcy's sister theory stuff as that specific tag so yall can find it#cause I have two drabbles you can check it that I did before this#I also recommend trying to narrate this out loud#that's how I got myself to start crying surprisingly enough

Lock & Key
Genre: Best Friends to Lovers, Fluff, Angst
Pairing: Jungkook/Reader
Warnings: cursing, dirty jokes
Synopsis: When Jungkook ditches you on your birthday, your friendship looks like it’s about to crumble. Your friend group becomes tired of your bickering and decides to take the matter into their own hands. Somehow, you and Jungkook find yourselves handcuffed together.
"Have you guys found a present for Y/N yet?" Jin asked, picking up his third pizza slice and taking a large bite, the cheese stretching as he pulled it away from his lips.
"You haven't gotten it yet? Her birthday dinner is tomorrow," Taehyung said. His eyes were tired, but he'd still insisted on joining the party despite having just gotten off a long train ride, as he hadn't seen his friends from high school for months. "I got her the first two manga in that series she's been wanting to read."
"Mmm," Jin said, seeming to consider Taehyung's choice of gift. "I need mine to be really special. He finished his pizza to the crust and turned it 180 degrees and bit into the end. "Jungkook, you're closest to Y/N. What are you getting her?"
Jungkook turned, wide-eyed towards Jin. The younger's face was already a bit flushed from the beers and from the mention of your name. "I'm paying for her part of the meal tomorrow and I got her tickets to that musical that's only in town for one night."
"Woah, that's gonna be hard to beat," Jimin said, "Y/N hasn't stopped talking about that musical since they announced it. Remember how she went crazy over it in the group chat?"
"I'm sure Y/N will like whatever you get her," Jungkook said. "She isn't very picky and she'll appreciate it because it came from you."
"I know. I just have something special planned and I want it to be perfect." The six other guys looked to the eldest expectantly. Jin sighed. "Gosh, fine, I'll tell you. I plan on confessing to her tomorrow."
"What? You like Y/N?! Since when?"
"Woah, congrats man!"
"You'll make such a cute couple."
The group fell to chaos, but Jungkook was notably the least excited. At the mention of Jin's plans, he sunk back against the wall and took a large bite of his pizza, followed by a gulp of beer.
"I'm not sure when I started liking her," Jin said. "I just kind of realized that I do. I figured we are friends and I'll regret it if I don't give it a shot."
"Are you sure her birthday is the best time to confess?" Jungkook asked, finally piping up. "What if things don't go well and you ruin it? Are you going to do it in front of everyone?"
"I thought about it and I'm going to wait until after the meal. Maybe I'll be able to steal her away for a few moments after she opens our gifts."
Jungkook's nose wrinkled and he was obviously unsatisfied with the answer. Yet, he dropped it and reached for another slice of pizza. "Why does it matter to you Jungkook? It's not like we all still won't hang out or that you'll never see her."
"Y/N's been hurt before. I'm sure you remember how upset she was after Minsung. I had to sleep in her bed for two weeks because she'd wake up crying. I never want her to feel that hurt again."
"Jungkook, I won't hurt her. She's more likely to hurt me. Why do you care so much about her heart being broken anyway? You're not the one who broke it and you aren't responsible for fixing it. Y/N's a big girl, she can handle herself."
Jungkook pouted. "I have to pee," he said, standing up and leaving the room, carrying his pizza slice with him.
vVv
An array of appetizers were spread across the table, a few bites taken from each. You were just waiting on the last three to show up: Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook. You expected them to come together as they had been nearly inseparable in high school. As Jin finished off one of the appetizers, you spotted Jimin and Taehyung walking in. You got up and rushed towards them.
"Happy birthday!" Jimin and Taehyung said, nearly tripping each other as they ran to hug you. "It's been too long, Y/N!" The two boys had moved out of the city for college and you rarely got to see them. You didn't know what you do if Jungkook--your best friend--had gone with them.
"I'm so glad you guys could make it! Come on and sit down, we're just waiting on Jungkook."
The appetizers were gone and the missing chair at the table remained. Worry grew in your throat and you glanced down at your phone for the umpteenth time to see if he had texted you. Even, just a simple "Running late!" or "Stuck in traffic!" would calm your nerves.
"Have you guys heard from Jungkook at all?"
The other guys all shook their heads and gave you sympathetic looks. You'd put off ordering, but it'd been nearly an hour since most of you arrived and you didn't want to keep the staff waiting any longer. "All right, let's order."
"I'm sure he just got stuck in traffic or something, Y/n," Jin said, reaching out and tapping your hand.
Your heart dropped as you read his last reply. You felt tears stinging your eyes, but you pushed them back before the other guys could notice.
"He's not coming," you said.
"What?" you heard someone ask, but you were too focused on not allowing your spiraling thoughts ruin your birthday and holding back tears to register who it was.
"He said he got a date or something. I don't know, but come on, we can enjoy this without him."
Due to the solemn looks on their faces, you knew they saw right through your facade. You and Jungkook had been best friends since elementary school where he accidentally trampled you when he was racing his friends. Despite ending up with a badly skinned knee and a couple of bruises, you were fine, but Jungkook had insisted on taking you to the nurse's office anyway. He pretended to sprain his ankle just so he could sit and keep you company.
What had happened since then? You'd never felt like your friendship was dwindling when it came to Jungkook. Whenever either of you dated, it didn't make a difference. High school graduation didn't separate you. Not even when Jungkook forced you to a haunted house in high school and laughed when he saw the stain on your jeans and realized you'd peed your pants in fright.
Despite ignoring for Overwatch or coming to your apartment just for the free food, he always ended up doing small things to make up for it. You often found chocolate bars stashed in the odd drawer or cupboard to make up for all the food he steals. After he finished laughing, Jungkook allowed you to wear his sweatshirt to cover it and bought you new jeans. You still had that sweatshirt stashed in your closet somewhere.
vVv
The tears stopped by the end of dinner, but now anger ran down your spine. How dare he skip your birthday for someone he just met? He'd never done anything like this before, he was the one person in this world that you could depend on, and now he's not. You feel a pang of sadness in your stomach and reach out for your portion of the bill, which Jungkook had promised to pay for.
"Stop," Jin said, reaching for the bill you'd just barely wrapped your fingertips around. "You're not paying. We'll split yours." You nodded, powerless to the eldest's tone.
After the bill was paid, everyone got up and starting readying to leave. You had taken a taxi, expecting Jungkook to take you home afterward. Jin seemed to notice, his brown eyes melting when they met yours.
"Hey, come on, I'll walk you home."
You nodded and waved goodbye to the other guys as you all walked in opposite directions or climbed into taxis. You didn't catch the other guys thumbs upping Jin and giving him reassuring smiles.
"Thanks for coming," you said. "Even though it kinda got ruined."
"I'll always come, Y/N."
"Oh, when I get a hold of his bunny ass--"
"Go easy on him, Y/N. I'm sure he has a better reason than he told you."
"He better be on his death bed then."
Jin let out a snort, which caused you to smile, but the smile soon faded and so did the fake happiness the anger made you feel. Now you just felt hopeless and felt the tears stinging in your sinuses again.
"Do," you said, already your voice faltering. "you think I'm still enough?"
Jin stopped. "What do you mean?"
"Am I still enough for him? Maybe he found a better friend," you said, your gaze painting the sidewalk. "I mean, I always rely on him. He's always my shoulder to cry on. Maybe he finally got tired of it. Got tired of me."
Jin placed a hand on your shoulder. It felt odd, as Jin wasn't one for skinship, but his touch was comforting, even if you were imagining it was Jungkook's. Except you couldn't, Jungkook's touch was old, familiar, warm. Like the fireplace at your grandparent's house or when your car is completely heated on a snowy day. Jin's--sure, it was warm--but it wasn't Jungkook.
"No, no, of course not," Jin said, moving to hug you, your cheek hitting his chest. "That could never happen. You and Jungkook have been friends for years. If he was gonna get tired of you, he would've already."
You scoffed, half in laughter and half in fear. "Thanks."
"Okay, but seriously, Jungkook cares about you. A lot." Jin paused and sighed. You looked up, noticing his eyes weren't on you, but rather he was looking up. His eyes looked glazed, but you didn't remember him having any drinks. "He wouldn't allow himself to lose you, Y/N. Trust me."
The rest of the walk was filled with a comfortable silence. It was only a few more blocks from where you'd stopped, so you reached your apartment in just a few minutes.
"Thanks for walking with me," you said. "Sorry, I got kinda sad halfway through."
Jin shook his head and reached to move a piece of your ponytail that had escaped from the hairband and fallen roguishly over your head.
"You don't need to apologize for your feelings, Y/N. Just promise me you won't kill the kid. I'm sure this is all just a misunderstanding."
You nodded, although you weren't convinced that Jungkook didn't now hate you for reasons you didn't know.
"Thanks," you said. "For everything."
Jin nodded. "You're welcome." He turned and walked into the night and you turned your back before he disappeared.
vVv
"How did the confession go?" Jimin asked, as soon as Jin walked into the small apartment he shared with Yoongi, which was now cramped with six bodies.
"It didn't."
Jimin and the other faces in the room all contorted in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"I didn't confess."
"But, why? Wasn't that your plan? Don't you like her?"
"She loves someone else," Jin said, his voice deeper than usual, his heartbreak captured in the back of his throat. "And, someone else loves her."
vVv
Two Days Later
You hadn't heard anything from Jungkook since the night of your birthday and you weren't sure what hurt more--the fact that he didn't care enough to explain himself or that he had seemingly replaced you. His Instagram was full of stories and posts of him with the girl you assumed was the one he skipped your birthday for. She was beautiful with large dark eyes and curly hair. His arm was around her shoulders and then eventually her waist. He must really like her because you remember how it took Jungkook nearly two years just to feel comfortable placing an arm around you.
You huffed and threw your phone onto your bed as you ran your hands through your hair. You were still mad, but you didn't want to lose your best friend. You remembered Taehyung mentioning how all the guys were getting together for Overwatch.
You hardly thought as you headed towards Jin's and Yoongi's apartment--the largest of the apartments belonging to those in your friend group.
You didn't bother knocking as you entered the apartment. You found the seven guys all crowded onto two couches and watching Taehyung and Jungkook. They didn't notice you until you slipped in and placed your hand on Jimin's shoulder—who jumped at your touch.
"Y/N!"
All seven heads turned to look at you. Most breaking into smiles and friendly greetings and offering you snacks.
"What are you doing here?" Jungkook asked, his voice breaking through the revelry. He was normally so soft-spoken, but at this moment, his voice grated through the air.
"I was hoping we could talk."
"You weren't invited here."
Your stomach turned. He'd never spoken to you like this, ever. Jungkook was normally the happiest when you showed up unannounced.
"Since when do I need an invitation, Jungkook? This is Jin and Yoongi's place, not yours."
Jungkook didn't respond but instead unpaused the game. Taehyung barely had time to close his mouth from watching the two of you that he fumbled with the controller as he realized Jungkook had restarted the game.
"Oh, so you're just gonna ignore me then?"
You rolled your eyes at how typical this was of all your ex-boyfriends. Towards the end of the relationship, they always ignored you for something else. Sometimes it was someone else, others it was their job. And yet, others, it was video games.
Jungkook had been there with you for all of these failed relationships. He said you deserved someone better, someone, who would never leave you or ignore you. You thought he was the only constant in your life, the one person who would never leave you, but now, he was just like all the rest.
Tears stung your sinuses. You dug your feet into the carpet and grabbed onto the back of the couch, trying to focus on the game. The guys had gone back to talking amongst themselves, eating, and watching the game. Yet, the air felt different, you caught concerned glances flicking your way and Jin silently offered you a slice of pizza which you declined, only eliciting another puppy-eyed look from the eldest of the group.
Jungkook was close to winning and the tears were soon beginning to simmer and your hands balled into fists. Before you could think or stop yourself, you marched around the couch and reached for the cord that was connected to the Xbox. The screen went black and all the eyes in the room shifted to you.
"Y/N?! What the fuck?!" Jungkook said, his voice rising. "I was about to win!"
"Jungkook, we need to talk and you're being an asshole."
Jungkook's ears were red and his eyes hard as steel. "This is ridiculous, Y/N. You came here uninvited to talk to me and when I go back to playing games because that's what I'm here for, you unplugged the system and demand I talk to you. And, I'm the asshole?"
You wanted to scream and pull your hair out. Yet, the thing you wanted most was to cry into Jungkook's oversized, black T-shirt because you knew it smelled of his cologne.
"Jungkook, you skipped my birthday party and you said we could talk about it, but it's been two days and I just want my best friend back."
"Y/N, why can't you just take the hint you're not wanted? This was supposed to be a guy's night and now you've had to come in here and ruin everything. You're way too clingy, like, this is why they always leave you."
"Jungkook!" Jin said.
You barely registered as the other boys chastised Jungkook as your vision blurred from the tears. You swore you saw his face soften before your eyes were totally filled with tears, but you couldn't be sure.
"Y/N," Jin said. You felt his hand come to rest gently on your shoulder. "Come on, I'll take you home."
vVv
A few days later you found yourself standing outside of Jungkook's apartment. You knew Taehyung and Jimin were staying with him, so you secretly hoped one of them would open the door.
The hallway was silent and dimly lit. It felt like midnight despite being noon. You softly knocked on the door, the sound--while quiet--seemed to echo down the hallway. You weren't sure what you were going to do or say when he opened the door. You were only sure that you missed the way he used to show up at your place at midnight with ice cream sandwiches or the way he let you borrow his sweatshirts when you were cold or couldn't sleep.
Thirty seconds passed and you knocked again. Firmer this time, each knock ringing out in the empty hallway.
"Jungkookie," you said softly.
You heard footsteps on the other side of the door. They were faint, but you recognized them from when he slept over at your apartment when you were sick or going through a rough time.
You listened as the door unlocked and slowly opened. He only opened the door a crack, just enough to peak out, as if you were an unknown person knocking on his door. As if you didn't know the layout of his apartment or that he kept all his mess concentrated to the common areas and his bedroom immaculate.
"Y/N...what are you doing here?"
His voice was softer than the last time you spoke. You knew Jin had told Jungkook how much you cried as he took you home and how you didn't answer his texts all night.
"I just wanted to see you," you said. "We don't have to talk or anything. I just miss you."
Jungkook didn't say anything. His eyes scanning over you. Your hair was unwashed and pulled into a bun and you wore sweatpants and a T-shirt. Dark circles outlined your eyes and even though it had only been a few days, your face looked thinner and your skin languid.
Another set of footsteps approached and the door swung open wider. Taehyung stood there in just his boxers and munching on a piece of toast. His eyes widened when he saw you and he glanced over at Jungkook, who's eyes were looking down at your feet.
"Hey, stop being a dick and let her in."
"Put on some clothes then," Jungkook said, his voice quiet and low, almost a growl. He swung the door all the way open and disappeared into his apartment.
Taehyung met your eyes and shrugged. He offered a small smile as you walked into the apartment. You hadn't brought anything with you, not sure exactly what would happen.
"I won't stay long," you said. "I just wanted to see him."
"At least have breakfast with me," he said, dropping two pieces of bread into the toaster.
You nodded and fell onto the couch. You'd done this countless times. At 4 in the morning after a night out, you'd collapse on Jungkook's couch still in your heels and your makeup slowly wearing off. You usually woke up the next morning in Jungkook's bed, your heels set by the door and your makeup at least mostly wiped off. At 6 pm as you leaned against Jungkook's shoulder as the movie started, your hand diving into the popcorn bowl in his lap. Most of your favorite memories happened on his couch.
"I hope you like Nutella," Tae said, handing you a piece of toast.
You laughed. "I love it," you said. "How do you stay so fit eating like this?"
Taehyung was still in his boxers. While he didn't have a six pack, he certainly wasn't hard to look at and the slight toning of his stomach showed he was putting in some effort.
"I'll gain five pounds just from eating this," you said, and despite your words, you took a large bite.
"Then you should have another," Jungkook said from the other side of the room. You hadn't noticed him there, he must've slipped in when Taehyung distracted you with the toast. "You're getting too skinny."
"I didn't ask you, Jungkook," you said. You crossed your arms over your chest and sat back, your toast abandoned on the arm of the couch.
"I'm just worried about you."
"Since when? When you stopped texting me? Or, when you ditched my birthday party for someone you just met?"
Jungkook's eyes turned soft in the way that would usually make you melt. But, you kept your eyes off of his and your spine straight.
"Y/N..."
"Listen, Jungkook, I might've come here cause I missed you, but that doesn't mean I've forgiven you."
Jungkook didn't say anything. Silence filled the apartment and after what felt like an eternity, he left to his bedroom.
"Are you okay?" Taehyung asked.
You nodded. "I think I just need a nap or something. I'm getting a headache." You looked around the apartment. There was only one bedroom and both Taehyung and Jimin were staying with Jungkook during their visit. "Where are you sleeping?"
Taehyung nodded and gestured toward the couch. "There," he said.
"Oh," you said. "Can I borrow it for an hour or so?"
"Be my guest. But, you know, even though you two are fighting and all, I bet Jungkook would let you have the bed."
You shook your head. "No," you said. "I'm not asking him for any favors and the couch looks more comfortable anyway."
Taehyung shrugged. You laid down and turned your back to him, missing the knowing smile as he cleaned up. You listened as he cleaned up and got dressed before leaving the apartment. It wasn't long before the tears came and you sobbed into the couch cushion as quietly as you could. The last thing you wanted was for Jungkook to emerge from his bedroom and find you like this.
He'd seen you cry dozens of times and you'd even held him as he sobbed into you. You didn't mind crying in front of him, but you knew it would destroy him to see you like this and to know he was the cause. Even if you mad at him, even if you were losing him, you didn't want to crush him.
You didn't remember falling asleep, but when you awoke, his scent was everywhere. You pressed your face into the pillow and stretched out your legs comfortably. You sighed until a thought crossed your mind. Pillow?
You opened your eyes and found yourself in Jungkook's bedroom. It was dark and the covers were pulled up to your chin. Jungkook wasn't in the room and from the empty feeling in the air, he wasn't in the apartment either. Your phone was next to you on the nightstand and plugged into Jungkook's charger.
You glanced at the time and realized your nap had lasted three times longer than you anticipated and you sat in bed as you realized that you probably needed to go home. However, before you could pull your eyes away from your lock screen, a text notification from a couple of hours ago caught your attention.
vVv
"Hey, sorry, I'm late," Taehyung said, walking into Jin and Yoongi's apartment where the other five boys were already crowded on the twin couches. "Y/N showed up at Jungkook's and I needed to see what happened."
The others all looked at Taehyung expectantly. "Jungkook doesn't know about this, right?"
"We didn't tell him."
Taehyung nodded. "Well, they're definitely in love with each other. Jungkook was jealous as hell and Y/N's heartbroken. I could practically see Jungkook splitting in half when he realized how upset she was."
"Well, didn't you all notice how when she started crying after he got mad at her for unplugging the Xbox, how he just broke? I don't think he cared about the game anymore, but then Jin swooped in and stopped it before he could apologize."
All eyes swiped towards Jin and he shrugged. "What? She was to the point of crying. I didn't know what he was going to do and I didn't want to upset either of them more."
"Does he know that you never confessed?"
Jin shook his head. "He never asked."
"Jin!" all the guys said at one.
"That would change everything! He probably thinks you and Y/N are together."
"It's pretty obvious we're not."
"I don't know the way you intervened during the fight and walked her home. It could be seen as you protecting her."
"Well, whatever, what's the plan? We have to get them to make up somehow. And confess, cause they're gonna drive us crazy pining after each other." Jin looked around at the other faces and all of them were, in turn, watching him.
"Well, we need to force them to be alone somehow," Namjoon said. "We could try locking them somewhere, but that's gonna be difficult cause the party is here and none of the doors lock." Eyes wandered as they tried to find a solution and eventually, Jin's eyes fell on the TV where a cartoon cop was catching a criminal, the handcuffs snapping down on the culprit's wrists.
"I think I might have an idea."
vVv
Taehyung and Jimin were taking the train back to their college town in the morning, so that meant you'd all spend the night before getting drunk and gorging yourselves on all the pizza you could.
Jin and Yoongi offered to host the party and a few of their neighbors offered up their apartments so everyone could spread out. You all invited your extended friends and neighbors if everyone came, you didn't doubt the party would probably get out of hand, but that was half the fun.
As you brushed on your blush and primped your hair for the final time, you felt butterflies in your stomach. Jungkook was going to be there. There was no way he would miss out on a good party and the opportunity for free food and drinks.
You wore a short white dress that was admittedly a little shorter than you would normally wear. But, with Jungkook ignoring you, you wanted attention and you didn't really care who it was from. Plus, you liked the way it hugged your curves and how when paired with the perfect heels, made your legs look longer.
You arrived a few minutes early to the party with the expectation of helping set up, but the party was already in full swing. When the elevator opened, people crowded the hall with cups in hand and music blasting from Jin and Yoongi's apartment. At this rate, the cops would be called in a couple hours, unless Jin and Yoongi had talked to all their neighbors beforehand, but you highly doubted it.
You waded through the bodies and found your friends all invested in a game of beer pong. The younger three on one end and the older four on the other. The older ones were currently winning and you smirked as you remembered just how good Yoongi was at the game.
"Need help?" you asked, placing your arm around Taehyung's shoulders, the heels allowing you to do so easier, although it still looked slightly awkward.
"Ah, finally! Someone who can rival Yoongi!"
You laughed, trying not to allow your eyes to wander over to Jungkook who was standing closer to you than he had for weeks. "Who's turn is it?"
"Yours if you want."
You nodded and walked up to the table. You angled your arm and aimed for one of the back cups, even if you missed, it may still land in one of the front cups that remained. You tossed the ping pong ball and it sailed perfectly into the cup.
"Yes! Drink up, Min Yoongi!"
Yoongi smirked and took the cup and downed it. You two had played this game countless time, both won and lost countless times, to the point that it was no longer about winning, but rather, who could get the other drunk quicker.
Yoongi aimed his shot and tossed it flawlessly into the cup right in front of you. You took out the ball and downed the cup. The beer was pretty much tasteless which meant it went down easily but left a bad taste in the back of your throat.
After a few shots back and forth, you had drunk twice more and Yoongi once. You were aiming up another shot, intending to tie it up when you felt a hand on your shoulder. You looked behind you and caught Jungkook's eyes.
"Are you gonna let us play?"
"Do you want to win or not?" you said, turning back and aiming up your shot. You were already a little tipsy and your head ached as you concentrated.
"Y/N, it'll be no fun to get drunk so early," he said. "Come on." His voice was soft and familiar. He'd done this dozens of times. Prevented you from getting too drunk or going home with the wrong guy. He brought you back when the alcohol began to take over. This time--however--you turned away and aimed the ball. Missing.
Yoongi tosses the ball in what appears to be a haphazard fashion, but it sinks straight into a cup. You pick it up and bring it to your lips, but before you can drink, the cup is being knocked from your hands and the beer spills almost entirely onto your dress.
You see Jungkook staring at you wide-eyed--the obvious culprit--his hand still gripping the cup.
"Jungkook!" you yelled, people turned in your direction, but your yell was soon forgotten as the music continued. All but your small group turned back to their own conversations. "Would you stop trying to be my friend? You made it quite obvious you no longer wanted our friendship and you just keep screwing everything up!"
"Y/N, I..."
Tears were beginning to fill your eyes and the only thing you wanted to do was get drunk and forget this night happened. You stepped forward to push through the crowd when someone grabbed your wrist. You knew from the touch that it wasn't Jungkook and when you glanced back, Jin's lips were upturned in a small smile.
"Wait, Y/N," he said. "I'm really sorry about this."
You cocked your head in confusion, but before your lips could form words to ask Jin what he was apologizing for you felt something click onto your wrist and found a handcuff locked around your wrist and you noticed the other was locked to another wrist. You followed the chain and met Jungkook's dark, confused eyes.
"Have fun, kids. We aren't unlocking you until you talk everything out."
vVv
Ten minutes later you stood in the kitchen as Jungkook tried to work a kitchen knife into the lock. The beer was slowly making your dress more and more see-through and you glanced around the room.
"Jungkook, can we try this somewhere else?"
He looked up at you with his brows furrowed in confusion. You hadn't managed to say anything before his eyes widened and he quickly shrugged off his flannel. It caught on his cuff and he struggled to get the sleeve over the handcuff and chain.
"Fuck it," he said, taking the knife and cutting into the seam where the sleeve met the shoulder.
"Jungkook isn't this a bit drastic? We can just go into the bathroom or something."
"No, it's okay. I can just cut off the other one later."
He brought around the uncut sleeve and brought over your shoulder and brought the cut sleeve over the chain and up your arm. The way the flannel hit it ended up covering your entire dress and draping across your bare thighs.
As soon as you were covered and comfortable again, he once again tried to unlock the handcuffs and your hand was at his mercy as he moved the knife point back and forth in the lock.
"Jungkook, this isn't going to work. You're just gonna end up hurting one of us."
Jungkook sat the knife back on the counter looked down dejectedly at your cuffed wrists. You couldn't help the pang of hurt in your stomach. Jin had handcuffed the two of you so you would talk and all Jungkook could focus was on how to get the handcuffs off without talking.
"Maybe we can break the chain," he said. "If we both pull, our combined strength might be enough."
Your wrist was already starting to become red and raw because Jin had accidentally snapped the cuff on a little tight, but before you could protest, Jungkook began pulling on the chain.
You immediately yelped in pain and your wrist attempted to escape the pain, causing your body to fold in on itself. You found yourself crouched and leaning against the counter, your arm almost straight above your head to remain close enough to Jungkook's so that it didn't dislocate the joint.
"Y/N?" Your name was barely audible over the music and the people around you many of which shot odd glances or coy smiles your way.
"It's tight, Jungkook. Jin accidentally locked it too tight. Can--can we just go talk and get these things off?"
Jungkook nodded, seeing your teary eyes from the pain and helping you to your feet. His free palm came to rest on your shoulder and his handcuffed hand grasped your wrist and he slipped two of his fingers between your skin and the cuff. It was the first time he'd touched you since before your birthday and you felt your knees go weak and something shifted in you with his touch. The plate tectonics of your heart shifting suddenly and with no warning.
"Let's go to the bathroom, first."
You were confused as he pulled you into the bathroom and situated you against the counter. He reached into the cupboard behind you and pulled out some lotion and squirted it onto his handcuffed hand. He rubbed it softly onto your wrist where the handcuff had rubbed the skin red and raw.
"Better?"
You nodded and looked up at his face which hovered not far above yours but was focused down on your wrist. His jaw was clenched and his features were stiff. He reached into his back pocket and pulled out the sleeve he'd cut from his flannel.
"I think if we roll this down we can put it between the cuff and your wrist. It might make it feel tight, but it won't hurt you so much."
He rolled the sleeve down under it was a single cuff which he carefully slipped over your hand and under the cuff. It did work, your skin feeling relieved from the lotion and the cloth, although it did still feel slightly too tight.
"Thanks," you said. "But, maybe we should get out of here. I don't want your girlfriend to get the wrong idea."
Jungkook met your eyes. "What? Girlfriend?"
"The girl you went on the date with?"
"Oh, it uh, didn't work out."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Don't be."
There was a long pause as Jungkook continued to adjust the cuff to ensure it stayed. His eyes were focused on your wrist.
"I'm sorry," he said. "For saying you were clingy and bringing your exes into this. I'm sorry for everything."
You looked down at him, your free hand coming to play with the hairs that grew around his ears. His hair was longer than you'd ever seen it and you smiled as he seemed to lean into your hand.
Jungkook finished adjusting the cuff and looked up at you. "I think Yoongi's room is empty. He didn't want people in there, but I bet he won't mind if it's us."
You nodded and followed closely behind Jungkook as you walked through the crowd to Yoongi's bedroom. It--like Jungkook had said--was empty. The two of you flopped down on the bed and despite laying a foot apart your fingers continued to brush against each other as you adjusted your wrists in the cuffs.
"I can't figure out why Jin handcuffed us," Jungkook said. The music was just a series of thumps now and even though it was still loud, you could no longer make out the lyrics and could hear Jungkook's voice without him having to raise it. "I thought he wouldn't want us to hang out anymore."
"What?" you asked. "Why would Jin care if we hang out?"
Jungkook turned and looked at you. His hair was wet from sweat and his hair curled in thick tendrils over his forehead. "Aren't you and Jin dating?"
"What? No! Jin and I are just friends. What makes you think that?"
"Jin told me he was gonna confess to you at your party."
Jungkook pulled his gaze from you and focused up at the ceiling. You thought back on that night. Jin had been acting more generous and gentlemanly that night, but you just chalked it up to it being your birthday.
"I didn't even know he liked me. Is that why you've been avoiding me? You thought I was with Jin and you didn't want to interfere?"
"That's part of it."
"What's the other part of it?"
His eyes came back to yours and you felt his fingers brushing against yours. But, it wasn't just the millisecond brushes as he adjusted. No, his fingers were practically intertwined with yours.
"Y/N, we've been friends so long...I don't want to ruin it..."
"Jungkook, it's already ruined."
There was a long tense silence between the of you. His fingers fully intertwined with yours. It was far from the first time you'd held his hand, but it felt different. It was softer, yet more intense at the same time. As if your hand were porcelain that could break at even the slightest touch.
Jungkook moved so quickly that you have no idea how he came to hover above you. His free arm resting above his head and the one handcuffed to you still intertwined with yours to the side. "What would've happened if Jin had confessed to you?"
"Kookie?"
"What would've happened?"
"I-I would've turned him down."
"Why?"
"Cause I'm in love with someone else."
His lips were on your before you even finished the sentence. He was gentle but urgent as if he'd been waiting two thousand years to kiss you.
"I'm still mad at you for skipping my birthday party," you said when he pulled away. "I don't care if you're in love with me, your cute ass still has a lot of making up to do."
Jungkook smiled as he leaned down placed a small kiss on your neck. "Well, I never got to give you my gift."
He reached into his back pocket and pulled out two tickets. You grabbed them from his hands and you smiled as you realized it was for the musical you'd been dying to see.
"It's tomorrow," he said. "Pretty good first date, yeah?"
"Hey, don't get cocky yet!" It was hard for you to hide your smile and you didn't want to give him the satisfaction, so, you just leaned up and kissed him.
vVv
You woke up the next morning enveloped in Jungkook's arms and his one-armed flannel. You looked up to see him scrolled through his phone, but when you squirmed, he looked down at you.
"Good morning, baby," he said.
"That sounds so weird."
"What, baby?" He smirked and giggled as you reached up and playfully hit his shoulder.
"Wait," you said, looking at your unbound wrist. You looked down and found the handcuffs on the bed. "They must've uncuffed us last night."
"I hadn't even realized," he said. A blush appeared on his face. "I didn't want to let go of your hand."
"Aww," you said, reaching up and ruffling his hair. "You're such a softie."
Jungkook smirked and grabbed your wrists. "Hey, I'm not completely a softie."
He held your wrists and glanced down at the handcuffs. "Maybe, we should keep these."

🌃 𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 || 𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐣𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐠
☆ han jisung x fem! reader ☆
☆ GENRE: college au, best friends to lovers au, fluff
☆ SUMMARY: There’s only one thing that can help your stressed out mind when you have a week left to finish the most important assignment for your art class of them all, and that is the honey voice of your best friend. What a shame he’s too shy to sing sometimes.
☆ WORDS: 5k
☆ WARNINGS: swearing and that is it me thinks
You hear the silent melody coming from your best friend sitting on the other side of the couch, quiet hums gradually flowing into coherent words as he mindlessly scrolls through social media on his phone, his low singing filling your empty living room as you take your eyes off your phone and watch him.
He looks casual, just like always. The army-green hoodie looks about two times his size enveloping his body, the hood thrown over his head to hide his messy hair, sweatpants hiding a little bit of his foot as well as if to make him look extra tiny today. The song coming out of his mouth sounds similar, yet it still sounds new to you when you catch him randomly singing during the day on times when he forgets he doesn't want anyone to hear.
"It cannot wait, I'm yours-" his head snaps up to meet your eyes, immediately shutting up and looking back to his phone screen.
"No, why'd you stop?" you whine, pouting. His voice is good. Too good, for never getting singing lessons and basically not even trying while he sings.
"'Cause it sounds bad," he mutters, furrowing his brows.
"It doesn't." you firmly say, desperate to make your best friend believe your words in order to hear him sing more often. For some reason, his singing always managed to bring a sense of comfort into your heart. It felt like the sunlight shining at you in the cold days of winter, sweet and soothing for your freezing heart.
"Yeah, right," his cheeks flash pink, rolling his eyes.
"You hear me singing all the time and I sound like a dying racoon, I really don't understand why you're so shy about it when you sound like angels coming down to earth to bless us all," you giggle, poking his sides.
He laughs softly at your compliment, shaking his head. This was how it usually went.
He started singing out of the blue, you stopped everything you were doing just to listen to him, then he realised you became too quiet and stopped in the very second.
"I wish you sang more. I like your voice," you point out, watching him flash an even deeper shade of pink as he shyly giggles at your confession.
"Sorry to break it to you, but I won't," he shakes his head in disapproval. It annoyed you, how he just never seemed to believe your words.
"But why? You never believe me when I tell you you sound good," you pout, furrowing your eyebrows and throwing your fists in the air in a sense of frustration.
"And that, my dear, is called not believing in yourself." he giggles, making you roll your eyes.
"I don't get it," you sigh, standing up and moving to the kitchen, "anyways, I am on my way to paint the rest of the assignment I have for my art class, so if you don't want to sing me something, at least put some music on," you yell white putting your empty mug into the sink.
As you walk back to the living room with your art supplies you managed to snatch from the desk where you put them before, you hear the familiar sound of your bluetooth speaker turning on, making you sigh. And that's for your daily dose of Han Jisung's singing. You sit cross-legged at the ground, taking your paint brushes into your hand, hearing the song he decided to put on playing from the speaker. You recognise it being the one he was humming to himself just a few minutes ago, smiling.
"What is the theme anyway?" he asks, genuinely curious.
"Nature," you roll your eyes, not really interested in painting trees the tiniest bit, but having to do it anyway, because you can’t just paint whatever you want and get away with it in your art class.
"So like, trees and stuff?" he teases you, knowing damn well how much you don't like the particular assignment in the first place.
"Trees, mountains, butterflies…" you ironically smile, blobbing a whole lot of green paint onto your palette, grunting, "and I wanted to be chosen for the showcase this year, but I guess we'll have to wait until the theme is not about rocks and rivers." you scoff.
"Oh please, you'll do great anyway," encourages you Jisung, "you can paint well even if it's just trees and mountains."
"I'm not Bob Ross, Jisung." you mutter, hating the way the green paint looks on the canvas in the first place.
"Yes you are," he giggles, "you paint just like him."
"Tells me the one who sounds like Mariah Carey but tries to act like he can't sing," you tease back, enjoying the way his eyebrows furrow at your comment.
"I can't do whistle notes yet," he smirks.
The car rides with Jisung were probably your most favorite. It wasn't for the fact that he doesn't drive too fast like most of your friends do, since as he said, he doesn't trust himself to slow down if he strats, but truth be told, that was also one of the reasons. But the main reason is, that you always get to hear him singing along to the radio, even if it's kind of difficult to hear over the loud music and the original singer. That doesn’t matter, though, because even the tiniest sign of him singing around you made you happy.
He doesn't seem to care as he yells the words to Riptide by Vance Joy on the top of his lungs, sounding like the song belongs to him, parking the car in the almost empty parking lot at Michael's craft store.
"No problem. What even happened, anyway?" he furrows his brows at you, confused on why you suddenly hit him up out of the blue in the evening as you swore on your life you couldn't hang out because you have to finish that disgusting assignment for your art class.
"Thanks." you smile at him as you ubuckle your seat-belt and open the door to his car.
"I fucked up on the painting and now I need to buy some new canvases," you grunt, rolling your eyes, "and green paint. A whole lot of green paint."
He snickers a little as he walks by your side, quickly turning around to lock his car and bringing his attention back to you, "I am sure it wasn't even that bad in the first place and you're just over-reacting."
"Yes it was, Jisung, you didn't see the disaster that painting became. I wanted to paint a bear and it looked like a degenerated pine tree." you blurb out, frustrated, as you take the shopping cart to your hands only for it to be snatched by the hands of your best friend helping you.
"Well, you could always say you wanted to be a little abstract," he grins at you.
"Yeah, sure. Miss Kim would absolutely kill me and I wouldn't get to the showcase this year again. Why am I majoring in art in the first place when I can't even get to the school's art showcase? That prick Minho got in three times already and he said he doesn't even like art in the first place!" you say, gritting your teeth.
"Why is he majoring in art, then?" asks Jisung, confused.
"Because he wanted a degree and he said it was the easiest major to pick," you roll your eyes.
"Well, I mean that is kind of smart, I should have picked that instead of business-"
"Jisung, you can't draw." you laugh.
"And? We were all born to express, not to impress," he waves his arms in the air, grinning. You laugh at his expression, facepalming as you reach for three containers of green paint from the counter and throwing it into the cart.
"If this is not enough of green paint, I swear to god I will kick something-"
"Hey! Peace. Think of the pigeons. Rainbows. Sunshine," he recitates, motioning you to breathe deeply to calm down your nerves, giggling in the process.
"Fuck the pigeons! I tried to paint one yesterday and it turned into a fucking rock in the air!" you throw a fit, making him shush you as a few people turn around to see your distressed state.
"Calm down, woman," he says, putting an arm on your back, gently pushing you to the cashier, "it's just a painting. You'll do great, don't worry. You're just stressing too much."
You grunt as you see another ruined canvas, throwing the brush onto the ground, muttering a quiet swear as you notice the paint on the floor, quickly taking a tissue and wiping it off.
"What's gotten into you? It's okay," sweetly says Jisung, once again sitting at your sofa and watching over you as you try to paint your assignment again.
"It looks bad! Just look at it! I have a week left and I already ruined three canvases, at this rate, I won't be able to even finish it, I can only dream of getting to the showcase," you mourn, throwing yourself to the ground and hiding your face in your hands.
"You just have to take it easy, you're pressuring yourself too much-"
"I've heard that already." you cut him off, growling.
You lay there for a while, breathing heavily, collecting your thoughts. Once you manage to calm down, you sit up and look at your best friend watching over you on the sofa, sighing. "I'm sorry. I'm just stressed out. I didn't mean to snap at you."
"It's okay." he nods, seeing you taking the brush into your hand again and trying to fix the blob of paint that was supposed to look like a squirrel, much reminding you of your dear best friend sitting next to you.
You feel a gentle grip on your hand after a few seconds, taking the brush out of it and putting it to the table. You furrow your brows and look at him, confused on why he is suddenly stopping you from your work, the contact of his skin on yours surprising you a little.
"We're done with painting today." he sternly says, stopping you.
"Ji, I have a week left to-"
"That's a lot of time! Stand up, we're having a karaoke night." he grins at you, pulling you up to your feet, as he takes his phone laying on the sofa into his hands and connects it to the bluetooth speaker.
"I have no time to have a karaoke night Jisung, what even is that-"
"Pick a song. Any song. We're about to sing our hearts out tonight and my mission won't be considered successful until your neighbours come to complain," he grins, giving the phone into your hand with his spotify app open already.
You look at him dead serious for a moment before sighing and looking through his embarrassingly long spotify playlist called ‘bops only’. "Fine," you sigh, "but just this once. And if they call the police on us, you're paying the fine for disturbing the silent hours."
"I didn't say anything about that-"
"Blah blah blah, I can't hear you!" you giggle, putting on I will survive by Gloria Gaynor on full volume to cut him off, throwing the phone back onto the sofa as you prepare for your singing solo.
You sneak your arms around his neck, dancing and laughing in the process as you loudly scream the lyrics into his face. He smiles at the sight, content with the fact that he managed to cheer you up so quickly, putting his arms on your hips as he jumps up and down, joining you in singing once the song hits the chorus.
And just this once, as his arms steadily hold your body and you throw a tantrum in your living room, he doesn't even care that you hear him sing as he knows you like to hear his voice. Maybe, just maybe, that was the reason why he suggested a karaoke night to cheer you up in the first place anyway.
"What do you mean you're not gonna be here on my birthday?" you pout from the ground, focused on the canvas right in front of you.
"Look, I'm sorry, okay? But my mum really needs me to come help her with the atic, and you know how she gets when I refuse to come home at least once a month even though I constantly tell her I don't have the time to travel for 45 minutes just so she can see my face once in a while…" sighs Jisung, laying on your sofa so his head is now facing the same way yours does, and that is, your half-empty canvas.
"I know, I know. But does it really have to be on my birthday? You're going to be away for three days, and the showcase is on Friday…" you mumble, "if I get there, of course." you sigh.
"I'm sorry," he mumbles, sounding genuinely concerned. It was currently Monday and your birthday was on Thursday, which meant you had four days to finish your art piece to submit it on the exact day of your birthday to see if your teacher accepts it for the showcase of the following day. And you're not even halfway done with your work! To be exact, you feel like you're gonna fail and to not have your best friend by your side to help you through your stress, you truly feel like you'll go insane.
"I know," you sigh, "it's okay. I guess I'll just… manage, somehow." you scoff.
"You can always celebrate with that friend from your art class, and we'll celebrate together on Saturday, when I come back. What was that kid's name again?" he furrows his brows at you, turning your way to see your focused face.
"You mean Hyunjin? No, thank you. He'd just want me to get drunk and I really don't need that the day before the showcase," you mumble, painting the leaves of the tree carefully, focusing on every single detail. Jisung always adored your talent. Everything you ever drew was a masterpiece in his eyes. He even kept the notes you gave to him in high school once when he was sick and you managed to take notes for him as well when you shared a Chemistry class, sneaking a few doodles on the sides when you got bored of listening to the teacher, "but that will come handy when I don't get in again, so I'll consider it." you roll your eyes.
"You will get in." he reassures you again, finding your eyes.
"I doubt that," you bitterly laugh.
"Ugh, stop that already," he grunts, focusing on the canvas again, feeling relaxed just at watching you do your magic, but you throw the paintbrush on the table again at that exact moment and run your hands through your hair in frustration.
"What?"
"It looks like shit. Again." you exclaim.
His eyes go wide at the sentence, disbelief washing over him. Did you really think that?
"What the fuck? It doesn't! It looks amazing, trust me," he says, reaching his arms to you, taking you by the shoulder from his position on the sofa.
"I am so stressed Jisung, I feel like I'm about to go insane." you whisper, sighing.
You don't have to say more for Jisung to stand up from his position on the sofa only to sit on the ground behind you, sneaking his arms around your middle and bringing you close to him, gently rocking you in your position on the floor. You feel his nose nuzzling into the crook of your neck, breathing in your scent as he quickly pecks your cheek and settles his head back onto your shoulder.
You hear him softly singing into your ear, the words filling your insides with gold as his voice feels like honey, calming you down from the storm happening inside of you like a brim of light.
"And I see colors in a different way, you make what doesn't matter fade to grey, life is good and that's the way it should be," he sings softly, a wide smile appearing on your features with every next word.
His voice calms your nerves as you slowly relax in his hold, your bodies gently rocking to the rhythm of the song as it slowly ends and his voice grows quieter.
He hated singing in front of people.
But to see you smile, he would go as far as overcoming his biggest fears. Because when you need him, he will always be there.
"Jisung, I have no time for this, I already told you I need to finish the assignment-" you mumble as you sit in his car, his smiling face looking at you from the driver's seat.
"I'm leaving tomorrow morning and I can't have you painting for more than an hour today because I feel like you'll break down if you do, so let's go. And you're already in the car, so there's no escape anyway." he explains, waiting for you to buckle in your seatbelt.
You just sigh and look out the window, biting down on your lip. If he keeps distracting you this much, you'll never finish the assignment.
You hear him softly singing along with the radio, careful not to disturb him in fear of making him stop, smiling to yourself as you let him drive you to an unfamiliar place in the middle of the night. You count the lampposts, the habit you grew to have since you were little, before they disappear and you're on a road shadowed by tall trees, the headlights of Jisung's car being the only thing illuminating the road.
You recognise you're going up a hill, looking over at him, seeing him focused on the road.
As you reach the top, Jisung stops the car and gets out, you follow him as he waits for you by the door to the passenger’s side.
As soon as you look around, you're amazed by the sight in front of you. You have a view of the city far, far away in the distance as you see the dell illuminated by the subtle glow of the moon sitting up in the starry sky. You watch the sight with an open mouth, awe washing over you as you just can't keep your eyes off the landscape in front of you.
"Wow," you breathe out.
You feel his hand gripping yours as he leads you to the edge of the hill, sitting at the giant rock there, pulling you down next to him as you watch the nature breathe in front of you. His hand doesn't leave yours as he speaks up after a while.
"You like it?" he asks, quiet enough to not disturb the atmosphere.
"Yeah," you whisper. You see him moving closer to you from the corner of your eye, his head leaning on your shoulder as he enjoys your presence.
"I wanted to show you this before I go, so you have a moment to breathe for a second before you throw yourself into the stress again," he mumbles, gently playing with the fingers of your hand.
"Thank you," you speak, breathing in the chilly air of the forest.
You stay like that for a while, just gazing over the beauty of it all, making you feel like the time stopped for the two of you only as you enjoy the seconds that pass. The full moon watches over the two of you, captivating you as you look at it with a feeling of delight. You hear his gentle voice in your ear again, singing softly and beautifully, sounding magical at the top of the hill, once again filling your ears with melody as your insides tingle.
"Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars, and let me see what spring is like on a-Jupiter and Mars," he sings, voice tender and sweet, slowing down the tempo of the song on purpose.
"In other words, baby, kiss me," he sings softly, voice fading as his eyes move to your lips, the silence of the hill and the light breeze tickling your skin.
You feel your eyes wandering to his lips, nervously licking yours in the process. You see him hesitantly move closer to you, stopping halfway to see if you pull away, taking his other hand and resting it on your cheek. His breath fans your face as he moves even closer, nudging your nose with his, eyes gazing to yours, your trembling fingers squeezing his hand as if to tell him to go ahead, fluttering your eyelids close.
Once the moment finally comes and his shy lips press to yours, you feel yourself responding immediately, moving with him as the familiar feeling of the sun in your stomach greets you with full force, your other hand going up to rest on his neck.
When he pulls away and rests his forehead against yours, you can't help but smile. His soft giggle fills your ears like music, your lips meeting his in a soft, quick peck in the instance.
"In other words, hold my hand," he continues, softly squeezing your hand resting in his lap, making you look at him, locking your eyes with his as he stares at you, gaze full of stars.
Han Jisung's always been your best friend. But perhaps tonight, you finally understood the fact that life feels sweet as honey anytime he's around you.
In other words, you love him.
You toss and turn in your bed, tears silently falling down your cheeks on a Wednesday night. Jisung's left this morning and you didn't even finish doing your assignment. You had the whole day for it today without anyone bothering you, but turns out, you managed to hate the painting you did anyway.
It just didn't look good in your eyes. It looked gross. Horrible. When you compare yourself to the other people in your class, you feel like your art is worthless. It always somehow managed to look bad. And everybody knew.
You were the only one who wasn’t good enough to get into the annual art showcase in your three years of college.
Did you even improve at all?
You turn around in your bed, seeing your phone light up with a new notification, opening it and wiping your tears away in the process so you can see though your blurry eyes.
'How did the assignment go?' there states, Jisung's name appearing on the message app, your insides automatically calming down a little at the thought of your best friend.
'Don't even ask', you shoot him a reply, sighing deeply to stop the salty tears from falling.
'It's okay, baby' he replies instantly, your heart racing at the nickname appearing on your screen, bitterly laughing at yourself for acting like a schoolgirl when it comes to Jisung. When did your feelings even grow into something more in the first place? It seemed like it was that way from the start. Perhaps you were just too oblivious to notice.
'It's not. Didn't even finish it. Kicked it when I fucked up again and just gave up.' you type, already friends with the feeling of defeat and failure you've been feeling since the evening.
He doesn't respond for a while, making you think he fell asleep with the phone in his hand again, turning around in your bed to put the phone back onto your bedside table to try to fall asleep on your own as well, when a new message lights up your screen.
You see a voice memo appearing in your messages with Jisung, your heart thumping at the image of hearing his voice this late in the evening, quickly pressing the play button and listening to what he had to say.
"Hi, umm- I've never actually done this before, but I know you're probably feeling like shit right now and I need you to know that you are not a failure, because I know you feel like one right now," you giggle a little at the accuracy, his low voice making you feel things you didn’t even know you could feel before, "anyways, I need you to be kind to yourself tonight. And since I know you like it when I sing, here's a little something…" he mumbles into the phone, making your heart race.
"Here goes nothing," he softly laughs, and clears his throat, beginning to sing, "Wise men say only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with you," his voice feels soft through the speaker, your eyes welling up with tears again, but this time, they're of appreciation and pure love for the boy laying in his bed 45 minutes away from you, because you know just how nervous he must have felt to sing into his phone just for you.
"Shall I stay? Would it be a sin, if I can't help falling in love with you?" he finishes, his voice fading away, your insides melting. How did you get so lucky?
"And now go to sleep. It's your birthday tomorrow, we don’t want you to feel sad on your special day. Good night, baby." he sounds, the nickname bringing another set of butterflies into your stomach.
You wish you could do as he told you. But at that exact moment, you bring yourself to try again, you make yourself stand up from your bed and move to your living room as you take a new canvas with you, inspiration kicking you with full force, taking tubes of paint and a paintbrush into your hand as you begin to work on your assignment, trying again just one last time.
You stand in front of your painting, watching over it with proud eyes. The chatter of people around you is only a background noise in your ears as you smile brightly at the assignment you finished just the time the clock striked midnight on Wednesday.
"Yaaah y/n, it looks so good," you hear the voice of Lee Minho call next to you, patting your shoulder.
You grin and turn to look at him, gratitude washing over you upon hearing the compliment. "Thanks."
"I wondered when you're finally going to be on a showcase, I don't understand why neither of your previous assignments made it," he mutters, shaking his head, "but this looks great. It's original." he nods.
"Thank you, Minho," you only smile wider, the pride in you growing minute by minute, "yours looks great too, by the way. I like the colors."
"Really? I hate it. I never hated a theme more than this," he huffs, "who the fuck thinks nature is entertaining to paint?"
"I know, right? I had four mental breakdowns over it," you laugh, now that the suffering is finally over and you can breathe freely.
"Did you use reference for this?" he asks suddenly, pointing to the painting hanging on the middle of the wall.
"No, I did it from memory…" you mumble, sighing.
You watch Minho's eyes shifting somewhere behind you, grinning widely at something that caught his eye, prompting you to look that way only to be left in a state of absolute shock.
The talking of the people filling the showcase gradually stops as they see Han Jisung holding a plate of a strawberry cheesecake with a single candle stuck to the middle of it, moving slowly not to make the light flicker die down, the grinning face of Hwang Hyunjin following his steps with a bottle on champagne in his hands doing grimaces at you from afar as a honey voice calls through the room.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, dear y/n," he looks at you, eyes big and full of love, as he finally reaches your figure in the middle of the room,
"Happy birthday to you!" he finishes, your soft giggles cutting through the hall as you move to blow out the candle and gaze onto the face of your best friend.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were coming in the evening!" you yell, throwing yourself into his arms. It was only three days, but you already missed him too much.
"I escaped," he laughs, his whole body shaking in the process as you pull away after a second, "I'm joking. I couldn't stay with my mother knowing I'm gonna miss your first ever showcase."
You smile warmly at him, the people around you disappearing in the moment, only his figure standing out to you in the haze as he hesitantly moves over and locks your lips in a quick kiss.
You ignore the howling of Lee Minho coming from your left and the loud 'Finally!!' from the lips of Hwang Hyunjin to your right as Jisung turns to your painting, smiling widely at the sight.
"It looks so real," he mumbles in awe, noticing the way his insides turn into a puddle of sweet joy as he recognises the night view of the dell he showed you on the night of your first kiss, instantly realising the way you must have painted it after he sent you the voice memo to sing you to sleep on the Wednesday night.
"You inspired me," you grin brightly.
"Don't say that." he shyly looks down on his feet.
"But it's true." you prompt.
He smiles lightly, shaking his head before locking your eyes again.
"I just realised I left your gift at home. Look at me, wishing you happy birthday a day later and not even bringing you a gift to make up for it…" he mutters, stepping closer to you and putting an arm around your shoulder in the process.
"That's okay," you say, and you really mean it. You are the happiest you've ever been right now, feeling accomplished and with him by your side. You don’t need any other gift.
"Well, I have one thing in my mind that can count as a gift, though," he smirks.
"And that is?"
"I can finally be your boyfriend. I mean, isn't that the best gift you’ve ever gotten?" he grins, prompting you to elbow him lightly in the ribs as you burst into a fit of laughter.
"You're such a dork, I swear to god…"
"But I am your dork, right?"
You sigh, playfully rolling your eyes. "Yes, Jisung. You are my dork. Only mine."

After saying goodbye to Maria and the kids Rafael took your hand and you both got in another Uber he had called.
“So where to now?” You asked.
“Well we're going to need somewhere to get this food,” he smiled. “So I'm taking you to my favorite place in the city,”
Soon enough the Uber pulled up in front of Central park. We both got out and walked to the front entrance.
“Central Park is your favorite place in the city?” You asked. “Kind of basic but okay,” you teased.
“Shut up,” he laughed, punching you in the arm playfully. “Wait until you see what part of Central Park.” He took your hand and you walked for a bit until you came across a fountain.
“I mean it's gorgeous but still kind of basic,” you teased some more.
“This is where we're eating lunch carino,” he told you. “The surprise comes after,”
You set up camp on the edge of the fountain and spread out the food. It was enough for a feast. Luckily Maria had included napkins, plates , silverware and sneakily enough she snuck in an old blanket that you could spread out.
“Oh my god.. this is so good,” You said in between mouthfuls of food.
“I told you,” he laughed through a mouthful of his own food.
“No like you don't understand. I've never had food this good,” You insisted.
“Oh no? The fancy lunches from work, not your style?” He smirked.
You stopped eating for a second. Had he really noticed that you took home whatever food the bigwigs never finished? It was kind of a detail that you never had guessed that he would even pay attention to.
“I have no idea what you're talking about,” You innocently replied.
“Sureee…” Rafael nodded with a smile.
“I'm sorry, please don't fire me,” You begged.
“Fire you? I think it's adorable. Trust me I would do the same thing back in my law school days when I had nothing,” He patted your shoulder.
“God do I hear that,” You agreed.
“Wait so you have nothing?” Rafael asked, concerned.
“What? No! Kind of…..I have enough.” You assured him.” It's not like I'm homeless or anything.” Oh my God this is getting worse. “I just mean like, back when I was in college I had even less than I have now.”
“Oh you went to college?” Rafael asked.
“Wow okay counselor I see where the snobbishness is coming back,” You acted offended. And you actually kind of were.
"Oh no no no, mi amor,” He put a hand on your knee, scared he had offended you. “Please don't think that I would ever think down of you. I think you are the most beautiful, smartest caring person in the world.”
He didn't even know you. That was definitely the spell. You sadly shrugged” it's fine,”
“No no what I meant.. I don't know I don't know what I meant,” He shook his head, blushing.
“Yeah you do it's fine you can say it Rafael I'm not going to get offended,” You assured him.
“I just meant... I don't know, or don't understand why somebody with a college degree would be temping, instead of using their degree for a job in their field. I seriously doubt you went to college for temping,”
“Well I don't know if you remember this since it was eons ago before you had money but living in New York is quite expensive.” You half laughed. "And when you have student loans to pay you kind of have to take what you can get even if it's not in your ‘field’,”
“I get it,” He nodded. “I totally get where you're coming from. I'm so sorry I offended you,”
“You know before today I would have stomped off and written you off as just the snob pompous asshole that I thought you were. But after seeing where you came from I know you really mean that,” You smiled.
“So…” he hoped to change the subject. “What exactly is your degree in? Something law related I assume?”
“Why do you assume that?”
“Well.. usually the people that apply to be my intern are only interested in kissing my ass and getting ahead in the lawyer corporate world. But you haven't done that.. Yet,” He raised an eyebrow with a smirk.
“Oh.. yeah.”. you look down at the ground nervously.
“What are you going to kiss my ass now? Because I'll gladly let you do it,” He smiled cheekily.
“No no!” You waved your hands. “I mean that would be nice but--I mean no, what?” You were flustered.
“You're adorable when you're flustered,” He rubbed your bright red cheeks.
“Haha,” you pushed a hair behind your ear. You thought to yourself “Well he's not going to remember any of this anyway so you might as well tell him the truth,”
“Truth is.. I may or may not have manipulated the system to beat out those other snobby law students to get this job,” You admitted, still looking down.
“Really…?” He looked at you suspiciously. “...And why’s that?
“...Because I saw your picture on the file and I thought you were gorgeous and I wanted to see that face everyday,” You blushed intensely, still looking at the ground, not able to tell him in his face..
There was a very long pause and then he put a hand on yours. You slowly looked up at him and he was smiling cutely.
“That is the most adorable thing I've ever heard in my life,” He grinned.
“Really? You think so?” Well obviously he thought so he was programmed to think whatever you did for the adorable duh.
“Yeah I don't think I've ever had a woman try that hard to get my attention. Or want to see me that much, or even think that highly of me,” He grinned.
“I mean it's not really thinking highly of you, just that you’re really attractive,” You laughed.
“Right, of course,” He was blushing even more.
“And that was even before I saw your butt!” You laughed without thinking.. But he really did have the best ass you've ever seen in your entire life. Everyday you walked into that office you just wanted to take a bite of it.
Rafael choked on his food. “I um…” His face was red hot now.. “Thank you?”
“Anyway…” He tried to steer the conversation away from his butt. “You avoided the question,”
“What question?” You asked. Completely in all honestly forgetting what you were talking about. Once you got lost in Rafael's ass your mind kind of went blank completely.
“What iis your degree in?”
“It's embarrassing,” You looked at the ground.
“What? It can't be that bad,” He shook his head.
“Well I say it's embarrassing to someone like you,” You half laughed.
“Someone like me?” He looked offended. “What iis that supposed to mean?”
“I mean I don't.. I mean the person that I thought you were before today,” You grabbed his hand.
“Well you seem to have really disliked me before today,” he nodded curiously. “It's like you don't know me at all.”
“What? Of course I know you.” You assured him. "I love you, remember? And you love me?”
“Yeah.. I do, but I don't know anything about you,” He looked away as if he was trying to figure out an equation.
Oh shit. What's happening? Was this supposed to happen? Wasn't wearing off? Oh God.
“It's a theater degree!” you blurted out, trying to change the subject. Maybe it would work. If you distracted him maybe this would take over again.
He turned his head to the side and stared off blankly, as if he was rebooting. Then he looked up and smiled at you. “A theater degree? That sounds exciting!” He was back to his “usual self''..
You let out a sigh of relief. However, you wondered if you had gotten him out of the spell, would he have freaked out? Would he have accepted it? Would he maybe start having real feelings for you? Well, it was too late now.
“Does it really though?” You rolled your eyes.
“It really does. I don't know if you would believe this, but I'm kind of a theater nerd myself,” He chuckled.
“No way. You? Nahh,” You blew a raspberry.
“Seriously! I had a bit of a theater bug when I was younger in fact. I wanted to be a big Broadway star” He admitted.
You couldn't believe what you were hearing. Raphael Barba the stuffy ADA of New York City as a big Broadway star? Yeah right!
“That's insane! You laughed. So why did you give it up?”
“Well.. as you know, being on Broadway isn't a great way to make money. It's more of a passion thing right?”
“So true,” You nodded as you were eating your empanada dessert.
“So.. I took a hard look at where I lived, and how hard my mom and abuelita were struggling and I vowed that I would get out of El Barrio. And make something of myself and be able to take care of them when I was an adult the way that I couldn't when I was a kid,”
You felt tears choking your throat once again for the millionth time that day. But this time it wasn't for you. It was for him. You really hadn't known any of this, to you he was just a pretty face. You actually had a lot in common.
“That is so sweet.” You pushed the trash between you away and moved up closer, pulling his hands into your lap and looking at him endearingly.
“Yeah?” He asked you with a half smile like a kid looking for approval.
“Yeah it really is. You gave up your passion for your family. I wish I was as selfless as that,” You said softly.
“What do you mean?”
What did you mean indeed? Did you really want to get into the story? Then once again you reminded yourself that he would have no idea no recollection of this after today, so you felt comfortable telling him your secret.
“Well….. You.... I came from nothing too. But all I could think of was getting out myself and never looking back,” You admitted in shame.
“Oh?” He looked at you curiously.
“Yeah, I was really passionate about theater and becoming a big Broadway star. With all the fame, and the money, and getting away from my small town in Jersey. So I threw myself into every activity, every theater, every play, every community theater, every performance, anything I can get my hands on. My parents were super supportive and never thought anything bad of me, even though they probably should have. They wanted me to have the world. And I took that for granted,” You began to get choked up.
“Why do you say that…?” He took your hand and squeezed it feeling like something bad was coming.
“They saved up their entire married lives to give me a college fund. I wasn't aware of it, but when I got accepted to NYU School of acting, they told me that they had enough saved for the first two years,” You continued, trying to breathe.
“Well that's good isn't it?”
“Yeah no totally, except I wasn't grateful,” You look down tears stinging your eyes thinking about how selfish you are as a kid. All I could think about and yell at them was how they didn't have enough for the full four years. How was I supposed to be a big Broadway star if I was still trying to pay student loans?”
“Oh Y/N…”.
“Yeah and that's not even the worst part,” Tears started stinging your eyes. You were lucky he was under some spell because he would definitely hate you after this under normal circumstances.
“Go on, I'm not here to judge you,” He pressed his forehead against yours. He realized how hard the story was taking its toll on you.
“One day it was my big end of semester performance and it was snowing. So my parents said that they weren't going to be able to make it. I screamed at them and told them that this was the biggest night of my life, and they couldn't be bothered to show up and what horrible parents they were and that they never cared about me and a whole huge temper tantrum like a 3 year old.”
You tried holding back sobs you had to make it through this whole thing without breaking down.
“No, honey…” He put a hand on your face.
”And so they tried…” You sniffed. They tried driving on the icy roads of Jersey to drive into the City and they served on black ice in the Jersey tunnel where they hit the wall and were killed instantly.
“Oh my god.. he whispered, “Baby I'm so sorry,” He grabbed you in a hug as you broke down. You just sat there for a minute letting him hold you while you sobbed into his shoulder.
“I just told them what shitty parents they were!” You sobbed muffled into his shirt. "And I killed them!”
“Hey,” he pulled your face from his shirt and looked you in the eyes. “No no you didn't do anything,”
“Yes I did! If I hadn't been such a brat and told them and guilted them into coming to see my stupid show then they'd still be alive!” you kept sobbing.
“No,” he took your head in his hands. “Look I didn't know you back then but I'm sure that your parents loved you and I'm sure that you loved them. That's why you wanted them there so bad. And sometimes it's just people's time. You didn't do anything wrong. Do you understand me?”
“Yeah.. I guess so,” you looked down. “I mean I was punished enough for it”.
“What does that mean?”
“Well I mean, obviously I was distraught from my parents dying. And that semester was the last one that was paid for. So kind of lied to you,” You paused to look at him apologetically.
“I had to drop out one year after that because I could only get student loans for that next year. And you had to have a certain GPA to get them to keep paying for the last year and I most certainly did not have that,”
“Oh...carino, I'm so sorry”
“Then me being me the arrogant bitch that I am, I thought well maybe I don't need a degree. Tons of actors don't have degrees. They can just make it on their own. So I just started throwing myself into auditions for about a year and a half, and I ended up living on the streets because I refused to take any kind of job. Telling myself that I was going to get my big break and be famous,”
“Oh my God”
“I know, right?” You laughed through tears. “I'm so stupid,”
“Hey you are not stupid,” Rafael grabbed your hands again.
“Yeah well, the first temp agency that I applied to had the first job as a personal assistant to a fancy lawyer. So maybe I'm not that stupid,” you smiled.
“Ah.. see? Happy ending. Maybe you went through all that to find me,”
“Yeah.. maybe,” You sadly smiled at him.
Although you knew deep down in your heart that was bullshit, because you really didn't have him. All you did was take another shortcut and be selfish and tried to take him for yourself instantly without any of the work. You were still a selfish bitch. And he didn't know that
“You know...if it makes you feel any better, you are lucky to have such loving parents,”
“What do you mean? Didn't you say you gave up your dream to take care of them?” You assumed that must have meant they were super close.
“Yeah well, for my mom and abuela..”.
You suddenly realized he hadn't mentioned a father.
"Oh? I'm.... No dad?”
“No, no dad.” He shook his head sadly. “I wasn't completely honest with you earlier YN,”
“What do you mean?” You took his hand, already knowing this wasn't going to be good.
“I was forced to give up my dream,” he replied sadly while staring at the ground.
“What?”
“When I was a kid I would watch musicals at my abuelitas house. It was the only place I was….safe,” He continued.
“Oh God.” You muttered.
“I would dance and sing all over her house. She was the only person in my life who ever supported that side of me,” he continued to stare at the ground.
“When my dad came to pick me up one day and he saw what I was doing…. “ He stopped again, you realized he was trying not to cry.
“Rafa…..”
“He tried to "beat the gay out of me.",” You saw tears dripping on the pavement.
You silently gasped.
"Not that I'm gay,' he quickly assured you.
"That was literally the last thing on my mind baby," you shook your head, tears coming to your own eyes as you pulled him into a hug. He collapsed into tears as you rubbed the back of his neck and whispered comforting words into his ear.
Finally he composed himself enough to finish his story.
“Anyway, he uh...he didn't just beat me for that. It was anything really. But I kept at it at my abuelas. She encouraged me even if she couldn't stand up to my dad. I can't blame her or my mother. When my mom caught me still pursuing it she told me to stop if I wanted to keep our dad around saying he wouldn't tolerate a….f word son,"
“Oh my god.” You whispered. You couldn't imagine your parents or any parents really, trying to discourage their kids from anything, and threatening them for being something they were so passionate about.
“Well I guess it didn't matter either way because he ended up taking off anyway. And I felt so guilty that we lost our only income, so my mom had to end up getting two jobs and my abuela moved in to help with bills that then I swore to become better so that I could atone for my sins,” He couldn’t look at you.
“Oh my god. Rafa, sweetie I…. That wasn't your fault., it wasn't your fault at all. He sounds like a grade a asshole,” You made him look at you just as he did when you told your shameful story.
“He was...is. I don't know if he's dead or alive actually. I haven't seen or heard from him since he left. I hate him so much,” he clenched his fists.
“Oh honey,” You pressed a kiss to his forehead.
“No you don't understand. My middle name is Eduardo, named after him. So he's always with me. I have always told people it's Antonio, because I want nothing about me associated with him,” He started to cry again.
After a minute, he looked back up at you very seriously. “I've never told anyone that story.”
“Really? Not even Liv?”
"Not even Liv," He stroked your hair. "I've never felt as close to her as I do with you.” He pulled you into his lap. “The truth is Y/N I have never felt safe since my abuela’s house. Until I met you,”
“Rafa…” You pulled him into a deep kiss, tears dropped down both your faces. “We can be each other’s homes now,”

Chapter summary :
Where we learn more about the past of Mobius and Loki... Where Croki is uncontrollable... And where everything ends in surprise...
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32948254/chapters/82165354
2021 - Loki's apartment
Loki steadied himself with a pounding heart and picked up, "Hello?"
-Loki?
-Yes?
-It's Sigyn.
It took Loki a moment to realize who it was and let the slight disappointment fade away.
-Sigyn?
-Yes, I'm in New York. I came for a conference but it got canceled, so I figured I'd call you. To see if you were free.
An hour later, Loki and Sigyn were walking around in awkward silence. Loki hadn't wanted Sigyn to get any ideas, so he'd preferred to meet her on neutral ground.
"Thanks for coming."
"Sure, no problem." replied Loki.
"It's been too long."
Loki didn't answer, he didn't want to start a sensitive discussion. Actually, he didn't want to be here at all.
"How is Croki?" continued Sigyn.
"He's fine."
"Is he adjusting to life in the city?"
"Yeah, he's doing well."
"Good. I miss him."
Here we go... get out your handkerchief...
Exactly the kind of discussion Loki didn't want to start. Again he preferred not to point out, and again let the awkward silence settle.
"Have you eaten, by any chance?" asked Sigyn.
"No, but..."
"Me neither." replied Sigyn, not even letting Loki speak. "I just realized I'm starving. Maybe we can get a quick bite somewhere."
Loki reluctantly nodded. They passed a small, elegant restaurant, "Freya's restaurant".
"What do you think of this? It looks good." raved Sigyn.
Loki protested, "Oh, no, Sigyn, this place is way too...".
But Sigyn was already heading inside and Loki had no choice but to follow her. The place was small, elegant and serene. And it was completely crowded. Sigyn approached the hostess.
"Good evening, table for two, please."
The hostess looked taken aback and asked her, "For tonight?"
"Yes, please."
The young woman replied with an apologetic tone, "I'm sorry, Miss. We are completely booked for tonight."
She looked at the reservation book before continuing, "But in three... no, I'm sorry, four months from now we have an opening for dinner if you want to make a reservation. Five-thirty or eleven-thirty?"
Sygin, turned on her heel, clearly disappointed and Loki followed her.
A little later, they were eating in a pizzeria on the corner.
Seeing Sigyn's dejected look, Loki took pity on her and said gently, "Don't feel bad. This is one of the best restaurants in town. It's okay that there's no table, that's what I was going to tell you."
Sigyn sighed, "It's not that..." she paused and then resumed, "I didn't do it right."
Loki realized she had lied to him, "You didn't have a conference, did you?"
She shook her head and Loki waited for her to continue.
"I thought you'd see me if it didn't seem like a big deal, a surprise, a quick coffee... But coffee could turn into dinner. And dinner could turn into..."
"What?" asked Loki dryly.
" Anything." replied Sigyn sheepishly.
"So it was an ambush."
"Yes..." sighed Sigyn again.
Loki exasperated, said, " Another one."
Sigyn, on the defensive, asked him, "What do you mean?"
Loki replied wearily, "Sigyn. You were always jumping ten steps ahead. A week after we met, you were already planning our entire lives. When I was still in college, you were picking out real estate. I'd come visit you for the weekend and you'd invited all your high school friends, the whole town to your house to meet me."
Sigyn replied defiantly, "At least I didn't go out with anyone else."
Loki surprised her by asking, "What do you mean?"
"At the party..."
"Oh my God Sigyn. I didn't go out with him! I kissed him once, and he was just a random guy and it was years ago.... I can't believe you remember that."
"Okay. You're right. I don't want to fight. It's just... part of me wonders... if I had moved to New York when you wanted me to..."
Loki replied firmly, "You didn't and leaving was the hardest decision I've ever made. I hope you know that. But that's water under the bridge and it's time to move on."
Sigyn looked disappointed but nodded, "I'm sorry. I never should have called. I just... miss you."
Loki didn't answer. He didn't want to, because if he was honest he would have to tell her that he didn't miss her anymore.
He couldn't stop his thoughts from slipping to his mysterious pen pal and the connection he had with him.
They finished their meal in a heavy silence. Loki was eager to get back to his apartment.
2019 - In front of the TK building
Mobius got out of his pickup, let out a big sigh and entered the imposing building.
When he reached the third floor, he knocked on the door.
The familiar voice answered, "Come in."
Mobius paused in the doorway, waiting for Ravonna to look up.
"What a surprise, the prodigal son has returned," the woman said by way of greeting.
"I was in the neighborhood..." he paused, uncomfortable, then continued, "How are you?"
"I'm fine." replied Ravonna who said nothing more.
Mobius entered the room with an uncertain step.
"Why don't you get to the point, Mobius."
Mobius stepped forward and placed an envelope on Ravonna's desk.
Ravonna took it and pulled out a check.
"What's this?"
Mobius replied calmly, "It's what I owe you."
Ravonna looked puzzled, "I beg your pardon?"
"It's about the same amount of money I would have made for TK if I had stayed on for the duration of my contract. So there you go, we're even."
"So you wasted your money," Ravonna replied, "You didn't owe me anything."
Mobius replied firmly, "I feel better. We were both in on this project originally and I feel like I let you down, so we've come full circle."
"If it makes you feel better. Good for you. Is that all?"
"I bought the house on the cliff."
"I heard about it. Finally, despite your high principles, it seems you don't mind making money right?"
Ravonna looked briefly at the check and pocketed it.
Mobius, annoyed by her coldness and what she had just said, said, "You know it's not the same thing... but you know what? Let's just forget it, we'll never agree. Everything is perfect the way it is! Have a nice life!"
Mobius stared at her for a moment. Then he stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
Ravonna jumped at the sound of the door slamming and pulled out the check again. She looked at it, then slowly tore it in half and threw it in the wastepaper basket. Then she opened a desk drawer and took out a photograph.
It was a picture of the House on the Cliff under construction. Ravonna and Mobius looked about 7 or 8 years old and were holding hands. Mobius was pointing at the house and smiling. She remembered that day, the orphanage had taken them on a field trip to the New Asgard forest and as usual, Mobius and Ravonna had slipped away and stumbled upon the house under construction.
At the time the picture was taken, Mobius was telling her that one day he would move back here. This is where they had decided that they would work together one day, that they would make plenty of money to come back and live in this house. Stupid childhood dream. An utopia.
Ravonna looked at the picture for a moment, started to throw it in the wastebasket, then decided not to and put it back in the drawer.
An Autumn Afternoon - 2019
Mobius had taken Croki to the veterinarian for a regular check-up and had taken the opportunity to pass by Sylvie's store, to see if she had any old daggers. Maybe he would find something to send to Loki. Although offering a blade seemed a little weird for him. But after all, their relationship itself was weird.
They were going through some daggers that Sylvie had selected, the young woman a little too close for his liking.
He had well noticed that she often tried to attract his attention, but Mobius was not interested at all. He just didn't know how to tell her without hurting her feelings.
"Mobius..."
"Yes Sylvie."
"You told me you were here with Croki, your alligator, didn't you?"
"Uh yes, he's in his crate, in the trailer of the pickup."
"So that can't be him I just saw running past the store then?"
"What?" Mobius ran over and said as he drove away, "How many people do you think are driving around with an alligator in their car?!"
He looked to the right and then to the left, and saw Croki disappear around the corner.
"Croki!"
Mobius shouted but the alligator didn't stop, Mobius ran after him, vaguely aware that he was being followed by Sylvie.
He chased Croki into a nearby residential street. Croki was really fast. Mobius swore and speeded up his pace.
Croki snuck through someone's garden and Mobius was still chasing him. They arrived at a house where Croki seemed to have stopped. Finally.
In front of it, a woman was unloading the trunk of her car and was watching Croki with a slightly frightened eye. Mobius managed to walk up and grab Croki.
"There you are, you rascal. What's gotten into you?" Then turning to the woman who looked familiar but whom he didn't think he knew, he added, "I'm sorry, this is the first time he's run away like this. He's never done this before. But he's harmless, don't worry."
The woman asked him with a curious look, "What's his name?"
"Croki."
She walked over and bent down to Croki, "Hi, Croki. I should get one like you for my boyfriend. He loves animals and especially anything reptilian."
Mobius noticed how much the young woman had to unload, there were many cases of wine and offered, "Do you want help with that? To apologize for the inconvenience caused by Croki."
She shook her head, "Oh no, I have time. Besides, you're already loaded" she replied, pointing to Croki in Mobius' arms before continuing, "in case you're wondering, I don't intend to drink all this alone."
The young woman is very talkative and Mobius listens politely.
"I'm a real estate agent, and you, do you live around here?"
"I have a house on the cliff above the lake in New Asgard."
"Really?"
They were joined by Sylvie, out of breath.
"Thank God! You've found him!"
The young woman greeted Sylvie with a nod.
"Hi, I'm Sigyn."
Then she continued, turning to Mobius, "Concerning the wine cases, I'm having some high school friends and neighbors over tonight. You're both welcome to come if you feel like it. It's always nice to have new faces."
Mobius and Sylvie exchanged a look.
Sylvie replied, "Thanks. We have plans."
Mobius wondered what plan they were supposed to have, and what was sure was that he had only one plan, to go home, see if Loki had written to him and write to him. Alone.
Sigyn shrugged and replied, "No problem. It was nice to meet you anyway. See you later maybe, Croki. Oh, hey, Mobius..."
Sigyn reached into her pocket. "Here's my business card, I could look into renting a place on the lake myself. If you hear of anything, let me know."
"Will do."
"Thank you. That would be very helpful. I love this house, but my boyfriend doesn't. You know how it is."
"No worries." replied Mobius starting to leave, he inwardly ranted, wondering how he managed to stumble upon the chattiest women on earth, when Sigyn added, "I promised him a view of the lake if he moved in with me after art college."
Mobius paused.
"He's in art college?"
"Yes in Brooklyn, he wants to be a professor of literature and is majoring in Norse mythology. He visits here on weekends."
Mobius froze and realized that Sigyn was the one he had seen with Loki on the station platform and that Loki had kissed.
Sigyn continued, not noticing Mobius's confusion, "He's coming tonight, a little later, actually. That's why I'm having this little party."
Under Sylvie's exasperated gaze, Mobius inquired, "What time does it start?"
The same evening - 2021
Loki went out after work, tired, and started to head home. When suddenly he changed his mind and stopped to turn around. After a few detours, he found himself where he wanted to go, "THE BIFROST", the bar where the other professors had wanted to take him on his first day.
The place was almost empty. Loki went to the bar and sat down, looking gloomy and ordered a glass of white wine.
At the same time - 2019
When Mobius and Sylvia arrived at Sigyn's house, the party was already well advanced inside and there were many cars parked in the driveway and on the street.
As they entered, Sylvia turned to Mobius with a pouty face, "This better be good. I had something else planned for us."
Mobius rolled his eyes, because he had never intended to spend the evening with her in the first place anyway.
In the hallway, Sigyn was among her friends and neighbors, talking and laughing.
She came over to Mobius and Sylvie as soon as she saw them, "Hey! Glad you could make it. The bar..." she emphasized the word with quotes in the air, "is in the kitchen..."
They moved around greeting people here and there, Mobius looking for Loki with his eyes, Sylvie then gave him a look and asked in an acid tone, "Why are we here?".
Mobius pretended not to have heard her, the noisy discussions around them giving him a good excuse.
They ended up sitting on the couch next to a couple in their thirties. They exchanged greetings and chatted, Mobius half-listening, wondering again where Loki was.
Same time - 2021
When Loki was halfway through his drink, someone came and sat next to him. Surprised, he saw that it was Thor who ordered a drink before turning to him and saying with the smile that was his, "According to most social norms, a person shouldn't drink alone after 10 p.m. unless they have a good excuse. What's yours?"
Loki shrugged.
"I don't have one."
"I do. My fiancée just left for six months for her research. She's an astrophysicist, and we won't be able to see each other for that long."
"Tough." replied Loki, "And your relationship will put up with that?"
"Of course!" replied Thor, "It's not the first time, and luckily there's facetime and stuff." He pointed to Loki's glass before adding, "I see your glass is empty, do you want another one? My treat."
Loki nodded, "Yeah."
Thor ordered and two minutes later their drinks arrived.
After a moment of silence, Loki said quietly, "Actually, I have an excuse to drink alone after 10pm."
Same time - 2019
Mobius and Sylvie were still on the couch with the thirty-something couple. Mobius was honestly getting bored and apparently so was Sylvie, because she turned slightly to Mobius and whispered from the corner of her mouth, "Go get our coats."
Mobius stood up and excused himself, before going in search of the coats.
Just as he was about to reach the coat racks, he saw Sigyn, who was looking out the window, suddenly turning around and saying rather loudly, "Okay, everyone! It's time!"
She switched off all the lights in the room and everyone fell silent.
Mobius saw a figure appear behind the glass door. The door slowly opened and he heard Loki's voice for the first time, "Hello?"
Sigyn abruptly turned on the lights and everyone started shouting "Surprise!" and "Happy Birthday!"
Someone brought in a cake with lit candles on it.
Loki looked stunned as Sigyn threw herself into his arms and kissed him full on the lips while Mobius could do nothing but watch.

Flashback 1
PREVIOUS
"Y/n! Come on your gonna be late for practice." Your older brother yells up the stairs to you. "I'm coming!" You yell back as you jump over the last step and run to the door. "Okay I'm ready to go." You say seriously as you look up at your brother. "Shin guards?" "Check." "Cleats?" "Check." "Water?" "Check." "Snacks?" "Oh my gosh, check! I have everything I swear!" You say as you push your brother.
Your brother... Elijah. Two years older than you, second year of college, and the only person you could trust. Elijah had basically raised you growing up. Your mom and dad were never home and when they were, they always had something to say negatively to you or about you. "You're grades are terrible. Have you always looked like that? Disgusting. I should have aborted you when I had the chance." And many other things would get thrown your way when the two of them were home. You were just glad that they provided a stable income so they couldn't get on your case about something else.
You hop into the passenger seat of Elijah's car and buckle up ready to go. Elijah backs out of the driveway and starts down the road. "You need a ride after practice?" You blush at your brother's question. "No Toni said she would walk me home." Your brother smirks at you. "The same Toni who you've had a crush on since freshmen year." You rolls your eyes and punch your brother's shoulder. "Shut up..." "Hey man don't hit the driver! Or I'll pull over and let you walk the rest of the way." Elijah says jokingly. You smile at him and roll your eyes. "Whatever."
*After Practice*
"Where the hell is Toni?" You ask yourself as you wait in the back parking lot. You see a random car you've never seen pull up into a parking spot and stop. No one gets out of the car and that sparks your curiosity. You crane your head some to see who was in the car and your heart breaks. Toni was in there swapping spit with the new girl Regan. You look away and start walking as soon as you see them start to remove each other's shirts. You knew that you and Toni hadn't talked about it but you thought the two of you were exclusive, dating even. You had turned down girls because Toni would get jealous when you got flirted with and try to fight them.
You shake your head and let a few tears out as you walk around the side of the building. Even if you weren't dating, she forgot about you and that's probably what hurt the most. You grab your phone and call Elijah. "Hey Y/n! You and Toni get tired of walking?" You can hear the smile in his voice. You sniffle a little and Elijah is immediately concerned. "Y/n? What happened?" "She..." You take a deep breath. "She forgot about me and, and..." "Hey c'mon take a deep breath before you get a panic attack or something." You nod your head, even though he can't see you, and take a deep breath. "She was fucking some other girl." "But I thought y'all were like dating?" You take a deep breath and let out a fake laugh. "Yeah so did I. I guess only one of us was allowed to fuck around. Can you just come pick me up? Please?" You hear keys jingle in the background and hear Elijah moving. "Of course I'm on my way."
You stood outside for about an hour wondering where Elijah was. "Where the hell is he?" You wonder as you shake some from the cold. You feel arms wrap around you and you get a whiff of Toni's cologne. You almost relax into her grip until you remember what you had witnessed. You almost immediately back out of her hold and turn around with your arms crossed. "What are you doing?" Toni asks in confusion. "Oh no, you don't get to play that innocent bullshit with me." Toni looks at you even more confused and you just roll your eyes. "What time were we supposed to meet to walk home?" Toni looks at the clock on her phone and tenses. "Two hours ago..." "Exactly, where the fuck have you been?" Toni rubs the back of her neck nervously, "I was just..." "Don't even try and lie to me." You say as you realize she was stalling and it made you mad. "What kind of shit are your trying to play Toni? Huh? Another girl shows interest in me and you go bat shit crazy and threaten to beat her the fuck up. But you can go around and fuck some other bitch? How the hell does that make sense!" You yell at her.
"Listen, Y/n... I'm sorry. I really do..." You hold up your hand to cut her off. "No, just stop whatever explanation your trying to make up. We have been in this weird dating but not dating parallel thing for almost 6 months! I've been patiently waiting for you to finally just ask me to be your girlfriend cause whenever I ask for more you say no. What am I to you? Just some play toy or some shit?" You say getting up in Toni's face making her mad. Out the corner of your eye you see Toni's hand curl up into a ball. You raise an eyebrow at her and make eye contact. "What are you gonna do Toni? You can't punch your way out of this one." Toni takes a deep breath trying to calm down. You actually think she does until she turns around and starts punch the fuck out the building wall.
"Toni! Stop!" You yell and grab her by the waist and pull her away from the wall. "Toni, fuck." You say as you notice her bloody knuckles. You don't let go of her waist as tears roll down her face and grab your phone. "Martha, hey... yeah, I need you to come get Toni... we're at school... She punched the hell out of a wall... yeah, yeah... okay bye." You go to put your arm back around her waist when your phone starts ringing. You groan and answer the phone. "Hello?" "Hello is this y/n?" "Umm, yeah who's asking?." "This is the NorthWestern hospital, you are listed as the emergency contact under Elijah Woods."
Your heart starts beating loud. "Elijah? What happened? Is he okay?" You ask, scared out of your mind. "We think it's best we tell you the news in person." You hang up the phone and almost immediately start panicking. Oh fuck it's bad, it's bad. You think as you unwrap your arms from Toni and hug yourself. Toni notices the sudden change in your mood and immediately turns around to catch you as you collapse into her arms. "Y/n? What happened?!" Toni asks worriedly. "It's Elijah... He's at the hospital."
*Time Skip*
Elijah was dead, gone. A drunk driver took his life in broad daylight. Who the hell even gets drunk during the day like that?! You stood to the side of the casket as it was being lowered to the ground. Your parents stood next to you, playing the role of grieving parents. You knew it would end as soon as you got in the car and were out of site from people. And you were right, the moment you got home your parents called some movers to clear out Elijah's room. You managed to grab his guitar from the case and switch it with yours before anyone could notice. You're parents would freak but it was something to help you remember him. You and Toni were officially done, after the phone call about your brother and the argument you texted her the next day that it was over and to lose your number. You hadn't seen her since then.

The Lovestruck~Chapter 2
{26 November}
You checked the time on your wristwatch and it was 8:22 where you instantly shoved your belongings inside your bag.
"Dan! Hurry up!" You slung your bag on your shoulder ready for your college, then heard his foot steps coming down from the stairs.
Your parents left for Scotland half an hour ago for your elder brother, Jaehyun's graduation for a week and now you were being an elder sister which was kind of a hard task.
You were about to open the door but he held your wrist as you looked at him questionly while he frowned. "Did you gave your number to that guy?"
"You're asking that now?"
"Just tell me."
"Of course, I didn't." You told him as you both got out of your house before a mischievous grin crept on your lips. "Wait, were you worried about me?"
"Oh, please." He scoffed and walked ahead of you and you chuckled seeing your brother's cute flustered expression.
A car stopped infront of you, then the car's side window rolled down, revealing your bestfriend Ria Song Smith. "Hey buddies!"
Ria is half Korean and half American as her mother is American and her father is Korean. You both met when she was transferred in your high school and was assigned your seat mate. You were too shy to initiate a conversation so, Ria being the confident one did it and since then you were inseparable.
"Hey!" You went to sit on the passenger's seat while daniel in the back before giving her a highfive as you both drove off.
______
10:11 am
Class started and you were listening carefully to the lecture until someone tapped you on the shoulder as you turned to the right side to see a guy smiling.
"Hey, could I borrow a pen? I actually left my pouch bag in the locker."
You nodded before handing him the pen. "Here you go."
"Thanks, by the way, i'm Rowoon." He smiled and held out his hand and you smiled back shaking his hand. "Y/n."
"No talking in class!" Your prof shouted startling you two as you both chuckled lightly before looking ahead.
The hour passed and the class ended where were taking your belongings and were about to go out but Rowoon stopped you holding out your pen. "Thanks.
You just nodded smiling as he smiled back. "If you need any help, you can ask me anytime."
With that, he left the class and you were also leaving but got stopped again by your prof. "Y/n could you help me put this book back in the library?"
"Yes, sure." You took the book from her hand and left the class to the library.

"Here!" Chanyeol yelled and Yixing passed the ball to him as he threw it in the basket making the goal.
"Yes!" He fist bumped with members before their coach halted them on their positions as all of them were standing in line.
"You must have heard about the match right? And again, we're gonna compete with that team." He trailed off looking at each of them. "We've won two years in a row, so this time too we're gonna give our best."
"So, keep practicing and let's win again, okay!"
"Yes!" All of them yelled but hearing chanyeol's loud voice, coach smiled at him.
"Our chanyeol always so passionate." He chuckled and members looked at him smiling before he turned serious again. "Okay! Focus!"
"Now continue with your practice." He said leaving the court.
"Okay! Focus!" Chanyeol pretended to be their coach guiding them, minseok hit him with the ball and he caught it.
"You want to be a coach that bad chanyeol?" They all turned around to see their coach and the ball slipped from chanyeol's hand as members were controlling their laugh seeing his face.
"Yes, he's aiming for it." Baekhyun smiled, earning a side glare from chanyeol and the Coach laughed. "Stop fooling around and?"
"Pratice hard!" Their voice chorused through the whole basket ball court and with that their coach left nodding.
"Wah! Chanyeol-ah, you should've seen your face!" Baekhyun laughed harder, chanyeol picked the ball before throwing at him but he dodged it and then ran around the court while chanyeol chasing him.
Junmyeon sighed. "They are driving me crazy."

You entered the library and greeted the librarian before going inside while kept looking around to which book shelf you have to put the book in. You looked down reading the name if the book and a shoulder colided with yours making you stumble as both of your books fell.
"I'm sorry." You squated down without looking the person and picked the books.
"I'm really sorry." You heard a male voice and looked up to see a tall boy in a blue hoodie and pants with bunch of books in his hands.
"I was carrying these books so, i didn't see you." He explained and you stood up dusting off the book before handing him his books.
You shook your head. "It's okay, i wasn't looking too."
"And good luck with that." You eyed his books and passed by him going another way. He smiled to himself and went carefully by not bumping into anyone else.

Later, you and Ria sat on your table in the cafeteria by the window and as you were about to start, Rowoon passed by your table while waving at you before going to his table.
"What? What's happening? Why is Rowoon waving at you?" She questioned you impatiently and you shrugged shoving a spoon of rice in your mouth. "We had class together."
"What? How come i wasn't there?" She made a sad face and you chuckled sipping your juice. "You skipped that class."
"Why didn't you text me! We rarely see our seniors too." She sighed looking towards rowoon's direction and you shook your head at her words. "By the way, i took notes for you too, prof said it's gonna be in the test."
"Awe, you really worry for your bestfriend, don't you? ." She cooed locking her arms around your and you stared at her with a straight face. "No, because you're gonna give me a ride back home."
"Geez! Meanie!" She groaned, unlocking her arms and you giggled.
"Is this seat taken?"
You both looked up to see the boy you met in the library and Ria shook her head before he pulled back the chair opposite of you sitting.
"We met at the library remember?" He looked at you smiling and you nodded while Ria cocked her eyebrow at you.
"I'm Lee Mark." He held out his hand which you giving him a smile. "I'm y/n and she's Ria my best friend."
"You're really meeting boys today huh." Ria whispered to you with a smirk and you glared at her but you also thought the same thing.
"What are you two studying?" He asked.
"Literature." Ria answered. "And you?"
"Arts."
"I've never seen you here before, are you a new student?" She asked him.
He nodded. "It's been a week since i came here from new york."
You both widen your eyes and looked at eachother and then him as he chuckled at your reaction.
"So you're here to study instead of new york?" Ria emphasized the new york word, her eyes still widen and he shrugged. "It's just happened that way."
Then he got a call and picking it up he quickly left the cafeteria before waving bye to you both.
"He's handsome." Ria nodded after starting him till he left and you gave her a look before you both stood up walking out of the cafeteria.

"Are you sure about that?" Rose held the stool tightly watching you climbing and You nodded giving the fused bulb to her as she threw it in trash can before going in the kitchen to grab a new one.
You were waiting for her but she was taking long, so you decided to check and while climbing down, you held the stool tightly as it suddenly started shaking but then stopped.
You looked down to see Baekhyun in a white shirt and pants with jacket over it, holding the stool while looking up at you confusingly. "What are you doing there?"
"Uh, I was changing the bulb."
"Why you are changing it? You should've called someone."
"It's just a bulb though and i've done it before too."
He sighed. "Okay, come down, i'll do that."
"Uh, okay."
He held out his hand and you looked at his hand then him before biting your lip as you hesitantly took his hand and came down. Letting of his hand, he climbed the stool before placing his bag on the counter and you held the stool for him.
"Did I took too-oh?" Rose stopped talking and smiled looking at the sight in front of her.
"When did you came?" She asked, giving you the bulb and you gave him.
"When she was about to fall." He answered while adjusting the bulb and rose looked at you worringly but then smiled.
"What a gentleman." Rose praised him and his corner of lips turned up before he jumped down.
"That, I am." He said looking at you while dusting off his hands and then Rose before he took the stool as he went to the kitchen while you glanced at rose to see her already looking at you with a smile.
"What happened?" Your forehead and she shook her head. "Nothing."
"So, how did it go?" You asked her and she sighed sitting at one of the tables.
"What? Did it went really bad?" Baekhyun asked her coming out from the kitchen and stood next to you at the counter.
"When I said hopefully, I really meant it." She glanced at you to see both of your quizzical face and chuckled. "I didn't even get to meet him, instead i met another man thinking it's him."
"What!?" You exclaimed, startling Baekhyun but a chuckle left your lips.
"It's not funny." She squinted her eyes at you and you smiled sheepishly. "Sorry but why did you thought it's him?"
"He was dressed in a suit and suddenly stood up when he saw me, i thought he is the man so i sat with him, he just began talking without asking my name," She sat up straight. "And we actually were having a good time until mom called and told me that her friend's son couldn't make it."
She folded arms to her chest. "That's when i went stiff and asked if his name was min ho but he denied and then i got to know that he was waiting for his model and mistook me for her."
"Wait.. then he must have found me pretty for mistaking me for a model." She smiled shyly tucking a hair behind her ear and you chuckled.
"Of course, you are pretty." Baekhyun grinned making her smile more but then her shoulder dropped. "I guess, i have no chance with men?"
"Why would you think that? There are alot of good men out there i'm sure you'll find someone good too." Baekhyun said and you nodded at his words before going to rose and sat opposite of her.
"Rose, don't feel down, like i said yesterday that you're an independent and an amazing woman, so it has to be someone awesome for you right? And i'm sure you'll meet him someday." You gave her a assuring smile as she smiled back at your words.
"So, just be happy and stop getting upset about that, what's meant for you, you'll surely get it." You added giving her a firm nod and she nodded smiling.
"Or just like you said, i should travel around so i can find someone like Big Boss." She giggled and you laughed. "Yeah, you should and let me come with you."
"Me too!" Baekhyun intruded and you all laughed.
"Okay enough talking, get back to work." She stood up, greeting the customer as he entrered.
"You really cheered her up." Baekhyun said to you after giving the customer his drink.
"I know right, even i didn't know i can cheer someone up." You looked at Rose, talking to a customer before you heard Baekhyun speaking. "I always thought you are good at cheering people."
You looked at him confused. "How?"
"Because Rose is always smiling or laughing whenever she talks to you, so you are a cheerful person." He smiled and you just stared at him.
"What's wrong?" He looked at you confusingly.
You shook your head and he nodded, continuing his work while you were still standing there with your burning cheeks as you always feel weird by compliments.
"He's really good at words." You muttered, calming your heart while looking at him and let out a big exhale as you shooed away your thoughts before continuing your work.

7:25 pm
"Good night rose!" You walked out of the Café and stood under the shade as a sigh escaped from your mouth when you saw rain pouring.
"Y/n, let me give you a ride back home." Rose said coming out of the Café after closing it with Baekhyun.
"No, Rose it's okay." You refused politely. "My house is that way and you'll have to make U turn while going to your home, so i'll just trouble you."
"No you won't, how-"
"Don't worry, i'll walk her home." Baekhyun interuppted and Rose smiled while you looked at him in surprise.
"Okay, be careful." She patted baekhyun's back and drove off in her car before waving at you.
"You don't have to and my house is ten minutes walk, i'll just call my brother." You said as were about to take your phone out but it was of no use as he was already standing beside you with an umbrella over you both.
He gestured you to take a step and you sighed while started walking beside him with a distance.
"So you have a brother?" He asked breaking the silence after walking for few seconds and you nodded. "I have two brothers."
"And you're last?"
"No, i'm the middle child and my younger brother is wait- how much younger he is.."
Baekhyun looked at you amused and chuckled watching you mumbling before he changed your positions as a car was passing by but you were too busy in your thoughts to notice it.
You looked at him and realized your changed positions but you just shrugged it off. "What about you? Do you have a brother?"
He nodded. "I have an older brother and he's married."
You frowned. "Why are you telling me that?"
"Just in case."
"What do you mean just in case? I'm wasn't even interested okay." You scoffed and he laughed making you frown.
Imersed in your conversation, you didn't realize that you reached home and the rain had stopped. You looked at him to say bye but got interuppted when you saw Daniel coming out from the house.
"Pota-." He stopped when he saw Baekhyun as he approached you two and looked back at you while signaling you to tell him about him.
"Ah, he's my little brother Daniel." You introduced him to Baekhyun and he nodded before holding out his hand as Daniel shook his head smiling. "I'm Baekhyun, who works with your sister at Café."
You looked at daniel. "But were you going somewhere?"
He nodded. "I was coming to get you."
"Right now?"
"The rain just stopped." He said innocently making Baekhyun smile.
You looked at him in disbelief and glared at him as you wanted to beat him that time but since Baekhyun was standing there, you couldn't do it.
You shifted your glaring eyes from Daniel to Baekhyun and your eyes soften. "Thank you for walking me home."
"No problem." He waved it off and looked at Daniel. "You should walk your sister back home, it could be dangerous for her since it's night time."
You looked at him with wide eyes and then Daniel who seemed to be confused but then smiled as he gave him a nod. "Yes, Hyung."
You looked at him shook as he called him Hyung and Baekhyun smiled before giving him a pat on his shoulder.
"Then i'll go now." He looked at you and you nodded. "Yes, reach safely."
You walked inside with Daniel behind you as you closed the door before something popped into your mind. "Ah right, did you changed the light bulb?
"What light bulb?"
"I told you to change the light bulb of my bathroom before leaving home." You looked at him with your patience going out of the hands and he sat on the couch before looking at you innocently. "Ah did you? I forgot."
"How can you forget that!?"
"It slipped from my mind."
"Slipped from your mind? I have to use washroom!" You said loudly.
"Just use any."
"Forget it! I'll do it myself and you know what? I gave you the perfect name, good for nothing!" You threw the pillow on his face before running upstairs.
"Yah!"
"Shut up!"
Baekhyun was still outside of your house as he was just close to walk away completely but stopped by your yelling and got surprised before he chuckled listening yours and Daniel's bickering.
"Light bulb." He muttered going home while a smile was plastered on his face.

A/N 2 - This may seem like a filler chapter but it's not, trust me. It's a very important chapter which plays a crucial part in the next chapters. ENJOY!

Groaning loudly, Dean dropped his head as you paced around the room, complaining for the hundredth time that night.
“Will you stop?” He grumbled. You came to a halt when you heard his words and turned to look towards him. Throwing a glare his way you continued your pacing .
“Y/N/N, stop it. This isn't going to solve our problem - it'll only annoy the tenants downstairs,” he said and got up from his chair.
“What are we supposed to do? My pacing around is definitely not helping neither is your what, fourth glass of whiskey,” you retorted.
“Third,” Dean said, “this is my third glass and I'm tryin’ to get drunk.”
“We ended up in this situation because we were slacking and this is exactly what we are doing again,” you raised your voice, regretting your decision to stay at Dean’s house with him, “if you won't even try to get out of this situation, I'll be going back to my house tomorrow.”
“You won't stay alone in that house until we catch that son of a bitch,” he said, setting his glass and walking over to you, “it's dangerous.”
You knew it was dangerous considering how the house you had rented in Kansas was destroyed when you had gone back to get your belongings - furniture was thrashed, utensils were broken and clothes were torn, but nothing was stolen. It was clear that Crowley's men were trying to send you a sign to leave their boss alone.
It was Bobby who suggested that staying alone and travelling a few kilometres everyday to discuss the proceedings of the case would be a bad idea since Crowley and Co. were waiting for the perfect opportunity to cause disruption in the case. And knowing how ruthless Crowley could be, murder and kidnapping didn't seem like a far-fetched option for him.
Dean had piped up saying it would be better to stay at his house since he had noticed your house had a weak security system. His other reason was that he had a car, unlike you.
Needless to say, you had reluctantly agreed to stay with the green eyed detective, but deep down inside, you knew that staying with Dean gave you a sense of security and you didn't want to let that go.
“We will figure a way out,” he said, standing a little too close to you.
“How?” You asked the obvious question.
“I have contacted my brother. He will be working as our lawyer to get them to drop the charges. Sammy will be here early morning tomorrow,” he said, removing a stray piece of hair from your face, “but you gotta cool down, sweetheart. Give that pretty little head of yours a little rest.”
“I-I can't. I am freaking out Dean,” you said.
“I know. You have almost bore a hole in the ground by your pacing,” you hit his arm lightly, making him chuckle, “I'm thinkin’ about the case too.”
“Is Sam-will he be able to….this is a critical one,” you mumbled, looking down at the floor.
“I have faith in my brother and he can go to hell and back to save me just like I can. Sammy will do anything to help us. Trust me,” he said, putting a finger under your chin, prompting you to look up at him. He leaned in and placed a kiss on your forehead. This simple act worked like a sedative and you calmed down a bit.
“Join me for a drink,” Dean said and strolled his way back to the couch. You followed him and took a seat beside him. Pouring a drink, he handed you the glass.
“One drink. Only.” You said.
“Alright.”
“Who do you think might be the mole?” you asked, taking a sip of your drink
“It can be anyone. Charlie, Kevin, Bobby, Rufus-”
“Ruby, you,” he nodded, “me.”
“Like I said, it could be anyone,” Dean said.
“Motive?”
“Depends.”
“Do you think we can prove our innocence?” You asked, “the cops kinda caught us red handed and-”
“It's….tough.” Dean said and jumped out of his seat, knocking over the tumbler of ice.
You tilted your head in confusion, furrowing your eyebrows.
“What?” You insisted.
“A few years back, when we were only fledglings in the bureau, Rufus Turner was working Crowley’s case. This information was in the case file that Bobby gave to us. He had arrested two men in his gang but by the time they had got to know about that dick, they had already lost him. He had escaped the feds again,” he explained, flailing his arms all around in excitement.
“Maybe we can find out who those two men were and interrogate them about Crowley,” you said, smiling a little for the first time that night, knowing you had a lead.
“Now all we need is access to those two men's files. FBI is not gonna help us so we have to take matters in our own hands. I’ll call Ash and ask him to find those,” Dean said and ran back to his room to get his phone.
“Ash? What about Charlie?” You asked, when he came back to the room, “And shouldn't you tell Sam first? He is our lawyer and he should be informed about this.”
“It's not like we are gonna interrogate a witness and Ash is a good friend of mine. He is not a fed whereas Charlie works at the bureau and right now we can't trust anyone who works there because we don't know who might be working as a two-faced devil and ratting us out to the God of the Underworld,” Dean said, dialing Ash’s number.
“Ash,” he said when the said man picked up the phone after a few rings.
“Listen, we are kind of in a tricky situation here-oh you heard….not really, we got one week….no it won't….I know you're a busy man, Ash,” Dean said, rolling his eyes, “but we need your help….yeah….the thing is we need access to the old case files related to the drug mafia Crowley….yeah I know that genius….can't you-fine….I owe you one.”
“So?” You asked, hoping for good news.
“Ash will let us know by morning,” he said.
“Can we trust him?”
“Yes.”
“Okay,” you reached for the bottle of whiskey.
“What do you think you're doing?” Dean asked, raising his brow.
“Relaxin’,” you shrugged, “you should try to relax sometimes.”
“You think you're such a smartass, huh?” He said and plopped down on the couch beside you, making you giggle.
“Thanks for tonight, Winchester,” you turned towards your friend.
“For what? For helping you calm down when you were running around like a headless chicken?” He smirked.
“Shut up,” you grumbled, “you know what I mean.”
“I'm here for you. We're in this shit together and I promise to get us out of this mess,” he said as you moved closer to him.
“And I have faith in you.” He pulled you closer and kept your head on his shoulder. He hummed in response. You closed your eyes, sighing loudly, but the sweet moment of coziness was interrupted quickly.
Your eyes flew open, “You son of a bitch, Winchester! Way to ruin a moment! How dare you put ice in my sweatshirt?” Dean laughed out loud.
“First of all, that's my sweatshirt you are wearing and you were looking too peaceful with your head on my shoulder,” he laughed.
“Fuck you!” You growled, and hit his arm hard.
“Ow!” He rubbed his arms. Dean effectively dodged your second attack, “woah, easy there tiger.” By now you were laughing too. As your laughter died down, you looked at Dean and saw him smiling softly at you. You blushed furiously under his strong gaze.
“You hungry?” Dean asked, clearing his throat.
“Uh-huh. Kinda forgot about food today until now.” You said, diverting your eyes.
“I'm thinking about ordering pizza. You okay with that?” He asked.
“Sure.” You said.
Half an hour later, as you were enjoying the delicious pizza and watching some crappy tv trying to put a break on the racing thoughts, you heard Dean speak.
“About earlier,” he sighed.
“Oh yeah. You better be sorry Winchester,” you gave him an annoyed look.
“No, I'm not sorry for that. It was fun,” he laughed.
“No it wasn't,” you said, but failed to hide the smile threatening to take over your face.
“It made you smile,” he pointed out.
“Fine, you're forgiven,” you said as Dean gave you a cheeky grin.
“In all seriousness, what I said earlier, I meant it. I promise to get us out of this mess,” he said, leaning down to give you a chaste kiss on your cheek, your skin tingling with an unknown sensation.
“I know,” you said, “I think I should go to bed now. We have a long day ahead of us.” Dean nodded as you got up and made your way over to his guest room.
