OC ASKS: which OC is the most fun to draw (if you want, you can draw them)?
Honestly, probably my newest D&D character Leaf! They have so many seemingly innocuous little details in their design that actually have a lot of meaning behind them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For example, their bangs cover their eyes because, due to their sensory issues and as a side-effect of vitiligo, their eyes are extremely sensitive to light and the hair helps filter most of it out. Its also a bit of a nod to the fact that their race (a homebrew mix of halfling and goblin) has darkvision, and it kinda explains why they have such bad luck with their perception checks lol

miracles (except you)

T, 2k, Wangxian
Summary: When A'Yuan was young, with messy hair and Wei Ying hovering over his shoulder, he asked, “Rich-gege, what’s wrong with your leg?” And Wei Ying—who knew, of course, what was wrong—had made an embarrassed aht! noise and scolded A'Yuan, “Hey, little radish, that’s not nice, sticking your nose into strangers’ business—” Lan Wangji was at a time in his life where every broken rule felt painfully monumental, but still broke them anyway. What other choice did he have if he wanted to see Wei Ying but to go against the teachings he had grown up with? “Not a stranger,” he interrupted, his heart constricting for two beats, three. Kay's comments: An AU where Lan Wangji's leg never really recovered after the attack on Cloud Recesses and the Xuanwu Cave. He adjusts and his family looks out for him. Short and sweet, I really loved this story. I know cultivators and especially those of Lan Wangji's calibre are supossed to be able to heal everything without a hitch, but I really like it they can't just heal everything. Makes them more real. Excerpt: “A'Yuan,” he started, then paused. This little boy was too young, he hoped, to have seen war first hand. But he’d seen things just as bad. Lan Wangji didn’t need to lie to him. “My leg was injured a few years ago by an enemy. It was unable to heal right and now I have a limp.” A'Yuan said, “Is a emeny a bad man?” “An enemy,” Lan Wangji corrected. “Yes, it was a bad man,” Wei Ying said half a second later. Lan Wangji would never forget the way his voice sounded then, like a steel sword draped in soft cloth. Furious but easing it for A'Yuan’s sake. “He wasn’t with the same bad men you’re thinking of, but he was a bad man too.” “There are more bad mans?” A'Yuan gasped, leaning across the table and clutching Wei Ying’s arm tightly. Lan Wangji didn’t know who he meant, but the fear on his face was painfully real. “Bad men, not mans,” Wei Ying said, half-hearted like he didn’t except A’Yuan to listen. He patted A'Yuan’s little hand and tugged him closer until the little boy was almost in his lap. “There are. But the bad man who hurt Lan Zhan, he’s gone now. He can’t hurt any of us. And the bad men who hurt Ning-gege and Popo and Sishu and everyone, they’re gone too. No one will hurt you as long as I’m around, okay? I’ll protect you.”
pov lan wangji, canon divergence, canon compliant, chronic pain, disability, good parent lan wangji, single parent lan wangji, families of choice, hurt/comfort, child lan sizhui, good kid lan sizhui, thirteen years of wei wuxian's death, dead wei wuxian, hurt lan wangji

a fun fact about me is that I just didn’t speak until I was like 2-2.5 years old and nobody ever figured out why. Like my parents told me they took me to my pediatrician and they tested me for things (they didn’t tell me what) and my doctor’s conclusion was “yeah they seem to know what words are they just aren’t saying any, it’s probably fine. We’ll keep an eye on it.”
and then my first words were something to the effect of asking my dad to turn down the TV because it was too loud.
anyways nobody knows what that was about

i just learned my creation story.
my parents already had four children: twin boys and twin girls. accidentally, my mom got pregnant with a fifth, though she miscarried. at this point my mom and dad realized they really did want a fifth child, even though the notion arose by accident; and so, on purpose, my mom got pregnant with a fifth... though again she miscarried.
at this point my mom prayed to god; she'd felt weird about asking god for things, but now she did. she asked him for a fifth.
on purpose, my mom got pregnant with a fifth. by miracle, the fifth was born.
my parents named me "elianna", a name meaning "my god answered" in hebrew. i was god's answer to their prayer.
...
i only learned all of this because i expressed to my parents how i was sure i was conceived of accidentally; i could not fathom how they could want to have a fifth child after already having four. admittedly, this thought was coupled with guilt... my mom and dad are always stressed, financially and emotionally; four children alone would've led to that, but i felt guilty that, by "bad luck", they ended up with a fifth to tip them over the edge.
it turns out that, in a way, i was an accident... the idea of me was. but my mom and dad wanted me, their fifth, more than anything.
one could say it was unlucky for the idea of me to ever occur, as without it they'd have one fewer mouth to feed... but they prayed for me. i wouldn't exist if they didn't want me, if they didn't want to love me: and that love turns my existence from one of bad luck to one of good luck, from a curse to a blessing.
my parents had been searching for a four-leaf clover; lucky for them, and lucky for me... they found me.

can't stop thinking about chimney's "people always tell me you'll understand your parents better once you become a parent" and how buck only explicitly forgives his parents in the scene right after christopher asks buck to help him find his dad.

Just casually thinking about my Legend of Spyro Swap AU.
Namely the fact that the first three minutes of A New Beginning would be giving the Chronicler the aneurysm of a lifetime.
The guy has been chronicling the last ~1 000 years. He's seen some BS. But all that is NOTHING compared to what the ancestors pulled on the night of the raid!
So! Some context! In my version of this AU, Spyro is still the Purple Dragon. His and Cynder's eggs just got dropped and mixed up in the kerfuffle of the raid, and Ignitus accidentally sent the wrong egg down the Silver River.
The ancestors, seeing this, all released a collective groan that at least one living dragon felt, and decided they had to do some meddling. Because they already had to witness better than a millennia of Malefor's BS and his goons making life difficult for literally everyone. And now he has Purple Dragon 2: Electric Boogaloo, who will almost definitely be raised to blow up the planet if Malefor doesn't get loose and do it himself!
But, hey! Another egg survived! It's far away, it'll be safe long enough for the baby dragon inside to grow up and not be raised for nefarious schemes! Time for Aether Mumbo Jumbo BS™!
So, by the power of "we're dead, we can f*** with the rules for the greater good!" They do some shenanigans, and Cynder becomes Purple Dragon 3: Hope It Goes Successfully!
Meanwhile, on the White Isle, the Chronicler is sitting there and contemplating an early retirement. Alas, unfortunately, he has a job to do, and his replacement isn't dead enough for him to quit. Though, I am playing with the idea of Ignitus surviving DotD and just... being summoned to the White Isle to become the new Chronicler. Probably because the other guy has had enough of the BS and wants to take his damn retirement.
TL; DR The Chronicler needs a raise, a vacation, and some headache meds in the LoS Swap AU.

in my free time i'm typing out a little post-adventure of link story from loz 1 zelda's perspective on link bringing this OTHER princess zelda who was apparently asleep for centuries (and thank you SO much for the WARNING that he was going to be DOING this, IMPA [<-entirely sarcastic]) back to the castle and the acclimatization of everyone to the whole situation and it's genuinely so fun. loz 1 zelda's standing there like alright how do i gently break it to my relative from the distant peaceful past that she has to learn how to fight in this time period or she's going to get ripped to shreds by monsters. and then she says exactly that and when aol zelda predictably looks mildly freaked out about the subject and is just standing there internally screaming like yep! okay! sure! death and destruction is rampant in this world and it kind of makes me wish i'd never woken up at all! when do fighting lessons start! loz 1 zelda is just standing there like. hm. was that not gentle enough. i feel like that wasn't gentle enough.
#it's about the severe disparity between their times.#when you grow up in a golden era of peace and you are a literal princess and your father is. iirc the correct wording used in the manual.#a child of a man. you are not going to learn how to fight. ESPECIALLY when you have an older brother who'll be the successor to the throne#when you are the princess in a time of peace then everything is going to be about image. about perfection. about being everything#the people expect from a daughter of royalty. a status symbol of ultimate proportions. so it goes#but when you are a princess in a time of complete and utter destruction. when you are a princess in a time where it is a miracle to even#survive the day sometimes. what good is image? what good are expectations?#the people of your land are survivors. they survived for a reason. lord yourself above them and there is every chance they could#destroy the last drop of royalty they have left. there is no manpower in the form of an army of knights.#and you are a survivor too. you shattered your birthright and fought your way across the land and through dungeons#to hide the pieces and you were captured and held within a cage of flames for god knows how long#and still you survived. so even though your people bite and rage you love them because you did the same.#there is never anmention of her parents. as far as we know they're dead and she was simply waiting until she was of age to be crowned queen#(<-a mention*)#so she is no status symbol. there is no perfection with her. the people begrudgingly look to her to lead them out of the hell#that has become their world and by god is she going to do it. and there is nothing left she can offer these people but brutal honesty#which is the only honesty this world has to offer anyway. it's only honesty everyone knows.#no pussyfooting around like rich people do with their speech where they say one thing and mean another. a habit i'm sure#would only flourish in peacetime. none of that. if you are not clear with your words and intentions in a land where everything wants you#dead then that's a one-way ticket to getting yourself or someone else fucking killed.#so it's like. the two main aspects of how they were raised kind of clashing full force with each other#you can only be so gentle when you grew up in a land devoid of it. you can only shape yourself into a fighter so much#when you grew up with the concept of it being foreign to you. yknow#gestures incoherently at them. blorbos truly.......#txt

The Beautiful Journey of Adoption: Embracing the Numerous Benefits
Shaina Tranquilino
December 14, 2023
Tumblr media
Parenthood is a remarkable experience that brings joy, fulfillment, and unconditional love. While some may choose to have biological children, others find their hearts drawn towards adopting a child in need. Adoption offers countless benefits not only for the children who find loving homes but also for the adoptive parents themselves. In this blog post, we will explore the numerous advantages of adoption and celebrate the beautiful journey it entails.
1. Creating a Forever Family:
Adoption provides an opportunity to create a family where love knows no boundaries. Regardless of biological ties, the bond formed between adoptive parents and their children can be just as strong and meaningful as any other parent-child relationship. Adopting a child allows individuals or couples to experience the joys of parenthood while giving a deserving child a sense of belonging.
2. Providing Stability and Security:
Many children in foster care or orphanages yearn for stability and security in their lives. By adopting a child, you offer them a stable home environment filled with love, support, and consistency. This stability positively impacts their emotional well-being, self-esteem, and overall development.
3. Offering Unconditional Love:
Adoptive parents often possess an immense capacity to provide unconditional love to their adopted children. They understand that regardless of past circumstances or challenges faced by the child, they are worthy of love and acceptance just like any other child.
4. Fostering Growth and Development:
A nurturing home environment plays an integral role in shaping a child's growth and development. Through adoption, parents can provide opportunities for education, personal growth, hobbies, and extracurricular activities that enrich the lives of their adopted children.
5. Expanding Cultural Diversity:
Adopting across cultural lines allows families to embrace diversity within their own households. It fosters understanding, appreciation for different backgrounds, traditions, languages, and customs - creating a rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives.
6. Giving Back to Society:
Adoption is not only a transformative journey for the adoptive family but also a way to contribute positively to society. By adopting a child, you provide them with opportunities and resources they may have otherwise missed out on, helping break cycles of disadvantage and opening doors to their future success.
7. Learning and Growing Together:
Adoptive parents often find themselves embarking on a journey of personal growth, compassion, empathy, and resilience. The challenges and rewards that come with adoption can deepen relationships within families as they navigate together the unique experiences associated with this remarkable path.
The choice to adopt a child is an extraordinary act of love that brings numerous benefits for both the adopted child and the adoptive parents. From creating forever families, providing stability and unconditional love, to fostering growth and embracing diversity – adoption offers immeasurable rewards. It's a beautiful journey full of learning, personal growth, and the joy of giving back to society. So, if your heart feels called towards adoption, take that leap - change lives, create memories, and experience the incredible privilege of becoming an adoptive parent.

"Alfred said that Dick Grayson was my greatest success. But Alfred was always too generous." And you expect a moment of, oh, well, sure all of their other Bats are successes as well and it's-- AND THEN NOPE. HE WAS OUR GREATEST SUCCESS. ALFRED WAS TOO GENEROUS IN NOT TAKING MORE CREDIT FOR THEIR BOY. Because yeah Bruce absolutely does see Dick as his greatest success, like Bruce loves all of the members of his family but sorry yeah Dick also absolutely is his favorite, even if he'd never admit it outside of his own head, sorry I don't make the rules, I just live here.

Seeing people insinuating it’s Aaravos’s fault Leola died or that he was not ‘brave enough’ to save her and like. No. You don’t fucking get it. Sometimes you cannot save your child. Sometimes there is nothing you can do. That is not what makes him a bad person. That’s part of the tragedy - that there was NOTHING Aaravos could do to save Leola, and that’s why he is so bitter and angry and resentful! Aaravos COULD NOT sacrifice himself - he tried! He’s not less brave than Viren! good god
Guys. Aaravos didn’t choose to sacrifice his child. What the fuck. Literally one of the first things he said was “take my life instead.” It was not him who sacrificed Leola. And choosing to live wasn’t an inherently evil act, and idk I find it a little weird that some of yall are already saying that, as someone who has had a sibling die and watched the impact it had on my parents!!

Dc x Dp Prompt
Is my classmate a secret love child of a rouge?!?!
Tim drake knew he was odd, with dark circles blacker than black holes, and skin as pale as Elsa’s, but some how this kid made him perplexed.
Danny Fenton was a genuine mystery. The first time he met the boy, was in the police department, asleep on one of the couches. He was waiting to be questioned about a mugging (because he was NOT a gothamite and actually went to the police about it) and fell asleep, and Tim was alarmed when he touched the boy’s paper- white skin and it was ICE COLD. Like- Tim probably would have been stuck to the ice if it was actually there, kind of cold. Yet, the boy was alive. His slow, too slow to be normal, breathing proved that.
Tim met him a second time in a college class, which they apparently shared? He was wide wake, with 3 cans of Red Bull and 2 cans of monster, and SOMEHOW Alive. How does someone genuinely do that? Then, he mentioned something about his parents during a group project.
“Yeah, my parents lab had ‘safety suggestions’ but they never followed them. Honestly it’s a miracle I’m still here.” He said. Then, as he thought no one was looking, but TIM WAS LOOKING, he accidentally froze his drink.
Tim froze up.
Mr Freeze has a son?!
___
Tim slammed the door open to the batcave, where the whole family was, and shouted “FREEZE HAS A KID?!?
(No, he doesn’t. Danny has NO CLUE what is happening, or why Tim Drake is so inquisitive, but he didn’t care. Gotham was full of weirdos, including himself. Tim is having a mental crisis that is not nessesary. Freeze is wondering why the hell the bats are talking about a kid. He doesn’t HAVE a kid. )
