Wild doesn't care if Ancient sees him as a mom or dad, he's happy with it, and he will keep protecting baby from his silly brothers ( He's avoiding some catnip accident to Ancient )

it’s kind of crazy to me how often people are so quick to downplay Laenor’s father role when it comes to the velaryon boys. i know their bastardy is rumored in the book and pretty much ‘proven’ in the show (even though they don’t actually know for certain bc they can’t do a paternity test lmao), but even if they are bastards, they are still Laenor’s sons. in that case, Laenor would be their adoptive father but that wouldn’t make him any less of their father than if they were his biologically. like imagine if you said to an adopted child, “but who’s your ACTUAL father?” that would be so offensive and cruel to both the child and their father. Don’t get me wrong, they could also acknowledge Harwin as their father, which Jace does in the show, but the complete disregard of Laenor i see in this fandom is WILD! Laenor spent ten years of his life with his sons, he taught them to fish, he sang them songs, no doubt snuck them food (like cake 😉) and told them about his adventures, and yet he’s looked at as ‘inferior’ bc the velaryon boys may not be his biological children 🤨? i know he left in the show, but let’s not act like he had a true choice in the first place. if he tried to stay, no doubt he would’ve been ‘mysteriously’ killed. all of this is to say that i genuinely hope some of y’all don’t go up to adoptive children/parents and go “you’re not actually their child/parent” but i fear some of you would feel inclined to. weird.
anyways, love how fondly Jace spoke of his father Laenor in the latest episode :)
i know f&b/hotd is fictional, but it still irritates me, i needed to rant about this lmao.

♡ Pairing: Platonic!BuckyNat x Enhanced!Teen!Fem!Reader
♡ Summary: After a mission gone wrong, Natasha returns with an injury. Steve of course blames you.
♡ Warnings: fluff, angst, mentions of gunfire/gunshot, injuries, vomiting, dissociation, anxiety attacks, steve being an asshole
Tumblr media
You sat on the edge of your bed, having a staring contest with the wall. Seeing as the color of the paint was doing an okay job at distracting you from your thoughts. But it didn’t matter anyway, Steve’s words rang in your head.
It should’ve been you.
You tried to play it off as Steve just being concerned for his dear friend Nat. But you couldn’t brush off the hostility laced into his words.
It was a typical mission gone wrong, mistakes were made. People ended up getting hurt. But it was all an accident. Although Steve, didn’t see it that way.
Most of the time, you were seen as a helpful addition to the team. The power of invisibility making you stealthy, being able to retrieve important information without ever being seen. You had quite the advantage of taking down enemies when you weren’t visible.
While you were actively unseen, light and objects could pass through you. Explaining why the bullet passed through you, into Nat’s side.
You had been spooked by the gunshot, instincts swift as you vanished, leaving Nat exposed. Bucky had acted fast, downing the hidden sniper as you reappeared. Immediately being sent into panic, shakily applying your hands over her wound.
Bucky had immediately shoved you away, tending to his lovers wound. It was merely a push out of adrenaline, him needing space to help Nat. But you couldn’t help but feel the shove come off too strongly.
Many hours later, Nat was rushed back to the compound, into the medbay where she was taken immediately. The doctors, including Bruce had done their magic, announcing to everyone waiting, that she’d be okay after some rest.
The announcement eased your anxiety, the waves of nausea drifting finally. Standing up, you headed for Nat’s room.
That was until Steve’s strong arm blocked your path, nearly having you fall backwards in surprise.
“Steve! You scared m—”
“Where do you think you’re going?” He interrupted you, looking down at you with a quizzical glare, making you feel small.
“Um… To Nat’s room.” You told him, shrinking back a little more at his glare turning frustrated.
“Haven’t you done enough? She needs rest.” Steve scolded you, the nausea starting to make its return.
“I know, I just wanted to see her.” You begged, needing to see for your own eyes that Nat was okay.
“You think you should be allowed to? After what happened? She trusted you (Y/n), but not after you used her as a human shield!” Steve raised his voice, crossing his arms. His stance made it clear you weren’t allowed to pass.
“She doesn’t deserve to be in there…” He paused, looking at you up and down in disgust, “It should’ve been you.”
You were taken aback at his accusation, like you would ever purposely hurt any of your teammates, especially Nat and Bucky. Steve’s words cut deep, leaving you speechless. The sob bubbling up in your throat leaving you unable to defend yourself.
But it was the lowly muttered last words that had you wanting to crawl into a hole and hide away from everyone. You looked up to Steve, he had belived in you. What had changed?
Steve just shook his head, a flash of guilt marking his features before his harsh glare returned.
“Go to your room and clean yourself up.” He commanded.
You didn’t have any energy, nor did you trust you voice enough to respond. If you did, you would’ve scolded Steve for speaking to you like a child. You were the youngest in the whole facility, but you weren’t a child.
That’s how you found yourself sitting in your room, staring at the wall, in hopes you’d disappear if you sat still long enough.
The guilt was consuming you completely, maybe Steve was right. Nat had done more than enough to prove herself worthy, she was a valuable teammate. You were… You were just additional baggage. Not necessarily needed.
The thought that you had gotten Nat injured was making you sick, dizzy with guilt. Before you knew what was happening, you were sprinting to the bathroom, sliding just in time to empty your stomach in the toilet.
After a few more moments of dry heaving, you leaned back against the wall next to the porcelain, using the coolness from the wall behind you to calm your clammy skin.
It should’ve been you. It should’ve been you.
The words shouldn’t of bounced around in your head as much as they are, but you couldn’t help but feel they were true. You didn’t belong. They were a family, they had each other. What gave you the right to walk in and mess everything up?
Tears started trailing down your cheeks, shamefully wishing for Nat’s forgiveness, knowing you didn’t deserve it. You hoped Bucky didn’t hate you as much as he should, you don’t think you could live knowing he didn’t like you. You weren’t sure there would be a chance to win Steve’s trust back, you hoped he’d forgive you eventually.
The compound had started feeling like home, with the help of Nat and Bucky. But now, as you sit balled up in the corner— You’ve never felt more out of place.
~
Nat had woken up hours ago, getting through a bunch of hello’s, and appreciating everyone’s concern. Besides Bucky, there was someone who she hadn’t seen greet her yet.
“Where do you think she scurried off to?” Nat asked out loud, Bucky muting the TV and facing her.
“I don’t know. I can’t stop feeling bad for pushing her.” Bucky muttered, remembering the shock on your face after the action.
“James, you didn’t mean it. You were just in mama bear mode.” Nat teased, watching some light return to his face.
“Of course I didn’t mean it, I would never do anything like that to her on purpose… I just— you should’ve seen her face. She looked upset.” He admitted.
“It was a stressful situation, I’m sure she was upset. Just not at you. Stop being so hard on yourself, and go find her and bring her here.” Nat told him, watching him nod and smile.
“Yes ma’am.” He said teasingly, leaning down to kiss her forehead.
“Now go! I want my girl!” Nat scolded playfully, making Bucky chuckle at her goofiness.
~
Bucky had searched the whole compound, not finding you anywhere. He asked around, but nobody had seen you since Bruce gave everyone the okay on Nat’s condition.
The last place he’d yet to check was your room, but you hated being holed up in your room unless it was bedtime, so it seemed out of character for you to be there.
Making his way to your room, he knocked on your door, leaning his ear to the wood, not hearing any noise from inside. No music, movie, humming— nothing. But he knew you were in there because he could hear your heartbeat.
“Doll, it’s me! Can I come in?” He spoke loudly through the door.
After hearing nothing, he started to grow worried. Turning the knob and opening the door slowly, scanning the room for you. Your bed looked a little wrinkled but otherwise untouched, and everything was turned off, the only light coming from the bathroom.
“(Y/n)? You alright? I’m coming in if you don’t say anything.” He warned, trying to keep his tone lighthearted, but he was panicking internally.
Turning towards the doorway, he walked through the frame, spotting your curled up form next to the toilet. Immediately he squatted down to you, concerned at the way you were blankly staring at the wall.
“Hey, hey! (Y/n)? What’s wrong baby— are you hurt?” He rushed out, gently grabbing your arms, twisting you slightly so he could check for wounds, worried that the doctors had missed something.
“Baby what’s going on? You’re scaring me.” Bucky whispered softly, your state making him panic.
After finding no wounds, he relaxed slightly, fully sitting on the floor, cradling your face in his hands. Hoping the metal hand grounded you, like it usually does when you are having an attack.
“(Y/n), you need to talk to me.” Bucky tried again, getting no response, just your vacant stare that felt like it was going right through him.
Keeping his metal hand on your cheek, he reached into his pocket with his free hand, pulling out his phone and dialing.
After a few rings, Steve picked up.
“Steve, I need you to send—”
Bucky couldn’t even finish his sentence, feeling your jaw clench, finding your eyes wide with guilt.
“(Y/n)?” Bucky tried, watching your eyes dart all around the room, ending up on his phone.
“No…” You mumbled, barely audible if it weren’t for the super serum.
Bucky perked up, relieved to hear you talking, but his heart was breaking at how broken you sounded.
“No what baby?” Bucky asked you softly, hanging up on Steve and placing his hand back on your cheek, cradling your face.
“It should’ve been me… It should’ve been me…” You started mumbling in a chant, eyes clenching shut, tears escaping and trailing down your cheeks.
Bucky was concerned and confused, wondering what had happened to have you in this state.
“What do you mean?”
It was a simple question, gently asked by him. But it seemed to trigger you, fully bringing you back with him, but hysterical.
“It’s my fault Nat got shot— I’m sorry Bucky, I’m so sorry please don’t hate me, please! It should’ve been me… It should’ve been…” You sobbed, throwing yourself into Bucky’s arms, knowing you didn’t deserve his comfort, but desperately needing it.
It dawned on Bucky suddenly what had you acting like this, and he didn’t think it was possible for his heart to break anymore.
“Hey, it’s okay baby. It wasn’t your fault, okay? And I don’t hate you, you’re my girl.” He whispered into your hair, softly rubbing your back, holding you tight, letting you cling to him.
“It should’ve been me…” You mumbled into his chest again.
Bucky pulled you back from his chest, cradling your face, forcing you to meet his eyes.
“I don’t wanna hear you say that. It was a mistake, and mistakes happen. But don’t you dare say that. Nat’s okay— and i’m happy that you’re okay too.” Bucky told you, tone gentle.
You sniffled and nodded your head.
“Now, you wanna tell me why you are hiding in your bathroom? You always come to Nat and I.” Bucky asked, slightly offended that his girl found more comfort on the bathroom floor than with him.
You looked down shamefully, your head getting tilted back up by Bucky.
“I tried to visit Nat but… Steve said I shouldn’t.” You admitted quietly.
Bucky’s jaw tensed, leave it to Steve to makes things worse.
“He uh…” You started but got nervous, growing silent.
“He what baby? You can tell me.” Bucky urged, wiping his thumb under your eyes, drying the skin of moisture.
“Don’t get mad at him okay?” You told him, and Bucky rolled his eyes.
He was already mad. Steve messed with his girl.
“Promise?” You asked again.
He huffed in frustration, wishing he could just go yell at Steve. But otherwise nodded to you.
“He said that Nat didn’t deserve to be hurt… That it…” You paused, swallowing through the tightness in your throat, tears returning, “He said it should’ve been me.”
“That little punk, I’m gonna—”
“You promised!” You told him.
Bucky took a deep breath in, trying to let his anger melt away. But he couldn’t relax knowing Steve had said that to you, it was far from okay. You didn’t deserve that, you were the sweetest person to exist.
“Doll, he shouldn’t of said that to you. It’s not true. He sure as hell didn’t mean it, and I’m gonna have a talk with him about why he said it— but it’s not true.” Bucky told you, watching you relax at his words.
“Still hurt to hear though.” You whispered, burying yourself into his arms again.
“I know baby, I’m sorry you had to hear something like that.” Bucky uttered into your hair.
“So is… Is Natty okay?” You meekly asked, still feeling guilty from everything that had happened.
“She asked for you.” Bucky told you, watching you lean back, gazing into his eyes with happiness.
“Really?”
“Yes baby, she’s not mad at you, She just wants to see you. She loves you.” He told you, hating the way he had to convince you. “Wanna go see her?”
You nodded eagerly, needing to see Nat. See that she was okay.
~
The door to Nat’s room opened, she turned her head, smiling lovingly when she saw you standing with Bucky.
“There she is!” Nat called out, holding her arms open.
You ran over to her, jumping into her embrace. The guilt was still lingering and you couldn’t help the tears from falling again, dampening Nat’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry Nat, I’m so glad you’re okay. I don’t know what I’d do without you —I”
“Calm down (Y/n), I’m okay. It wasn’t your fault.” Nat cooed, running her fingers through your hair as you cried into her shoulder. “Oh baby, don’t cry. It’s okay.”
You leaned back just enough to look Nat in the eyes, relieved to have her here with you, safe. You suddenly felt a much larger body press from behind you, caged in between Nat and Bucky.
They wrapped their arms around each other, circling you with their warmth. They weren’t related to you by blood, but sometimes they felt like they were your true family. The family you had been missing.
“I love you guys.” You whispered to them.
“We love you baby.” Bucky mumbled into your hair, “You’re our girl.”

Birth mom right to privacy.
Sorry, I disagree with this. Adoptees don't get a choice in the matter. If a birth mom doesn't want a relationship, that's fine, but refusing to share where we came from in the name of privacy is wrong. Every adoptee is entitled to know where they came from.
If birth mom doesn't want to be found or wants privacy, then she needs to understand adoptee rights.
There's no reason why adoptees have to suffer at the choices of others. We adoptees have every right to know where we came from, no matter how hard it is to know the truth.

i wish i was my parents' birth child everything would be so much easier if i was I wish i could be the daughter they raised and expect me to be and that I didn't have to worry about who I came from, what I came from, when I was born, what time I was born, what my medical history is, who I look like, my culture, my being. i wish i was my parents' birth child because I am so much like them without being like them at all.
i love them so much, and they love me so much too, that love is tangible, and I feel like theirs but never truly in the way anyone else expects me to be. but i want to be theirs wholly so very much.
i am so very much theirs whilst being separated and I want to fill the gaps, but I do not know how. maybe it will always be missing and I just have to get on with it i've always felt so beautiful despite not looking like them ive never felt more at home with them, but I don't feel like I'm at home in any place

This is funny because it has to be. My birth parents put me up for adoption. And my adoptive (extremely religous) parents can't fully love me and won't go to my wedding (if that ever happens) because I'm queer. So both sets of parents really didn't want me. 😂😂😂💀 Like should I give em a refund?

Okay, so Poppy's parents have blonde and light brown hair, while she has ginger, meaning she inherited recessive genes... or could she be adopted?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wouldn't be surprised...
Or maybe, just maybe, Patsy cheated on Perry, as it at least seems Poppy inherited her mother's blue eyes and nose.

Connor Adopted AU
Okay, this idea came to me a few weeks ago with a little idea for a one shot that has now developed into a large idea.
So, we all know what happens in "Sleep Tight" in Angel, Season 3, right? Wesley decides to not tell anyone about the prophesy involving Angel potentially committing filicide and tries to kidnap Connor for his safety. What happens as consequence is Connor getting kidnapped by Holtz, growing up in the worst hell dimension possible, and Connor returning as a teen and ultimately becoming (in my opinion) the most tragic character in the Buffyverse.
Instead of doing the good old fashioned Poor Communication Kills route here, Wesley decides that Angel has a right to know about the dreaded last line: The Father Will Kill The Son.
Angel...does not handle it well. He insists that Wesley could have mistranslated, is pulling a prank, that he was reading the wrong scroll. In the end, he is forced to accept that it is true. Connor is just a baby. He has only begun to taste life and there are so many things Angel had wanted to do, so many steps he was eagerly looking forward to.
All of it gone in an instant.
"Not quite," Wesley says with a determined light. Angel is despairing that his son will die by his hand. But Wesley has already decided that it will not happen. You don't get half a miracle.
The biggest threats to the baby's safety are Holtz, Wolfram and Hart, and all of the cults obsessed with 'The Miracle Child.' They have to take priority.
"And Connor?" Angel dreads the answer.
Wesley looks close to crying. "We can't keep him..."
No one is happy with this decision. No one. But no one is happy with Connor dying, either, and so they begin making plans to find a home for him. Wesley and Cordelia work on creating a new identity for the baby and finding a foster family. Fred buries her grief in packing up what the baby is going to take to his new forever home. Gunn and Angel channel their rage and own despair into hunting down every last threat to their son/nephew. Lorne is working with the Furies on getting the best protective spells available to hide Connor from enemies and hide him under the radar.
Holtz realizes that he can't move forward with his revenge plan as word of Angel's rampage spreads throughout the underworld. His followers slowly abandon him as their fear for their lives overpowers their lust for blood. Even Justine leaves him, seeing it as a lost cause and there's nothing to be gained from fighting a losing battle.
A family is found, Cordelia fills them in on only what is essential: the baby is in an unsafe environment, the baby's father wants him put into a safe and loving home. Lawrence and Colleen Reilly already have a daughter that is ten years old, and they're too old to try passing the kid off as their own. But all it takes is one picture of little Connor for them to fall in love instantly.
And so, the day the Fang Gang had been expecting and dreading arrives. Angel kisses his son on the forehead one last time before disappearing into the night, unable to bear watching his son be taken away.
"Sleep tight, son. Daddy will always love you..."
Cordelia makes the journey to the Reilly's home with Wesley acting as the decoy in case Wolfram and Hart try anything. She's holding back tears as she hands Connor off to his new family, wishing them well while Lorne is in the car finishing the last of the spellwork to protect Connor and the Reillys. Wesley gets his throat slit when one of Lilah's security team thinks he has the baby. She's furious at being made a fool, but still ensures that Wesley is taken to the hospital because s̶h̶e̶ ̶h̶a̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶s̶o̶f̶t̶ ̶s̶p̶o̶t̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ she wants to send a message to Angel.
Angel is the first to see Wesley in his hospital bed, unable to speak and unable to move from his spot. He awaits judgement several feet away.
Angel is quiet. "Did you really think I had it in me to kill Connor?"
Wesley looks at him hard, silently saying You could have become Angelus.
Angel nods. "Do you think I'm Angelus now?"
Wesley doesn't blink.
"Well, I'm not. You believe me, don't you?"
Slowly, Wesley nods.
"Good." Angel stands up and moves to the bed. His hand reaches for the pillow underneath Wesley's head...and gently fluffs it. Then, Angel readjusts his chair so it is right next to Wesley's bed.
"I'm staying here all night whether you want me to or not. That's the least I can do for you."
Wesley reaches out to Angel's hand and squeezes it tight. Gunn is waiting outside with Fred, who is sobbing into her coffee. Every last trace of Connor is out of the hotel, as if he were never there. They stay there the entire night, later joined by Cordelia and Lorne a few hours later.
While one family mourns the loss of one child, another family welcomes the introduction of another into their home. Connor Francis Reilly kept only several things from his old home: his name (including his middle name), a few teddy bears and a duck-printed blanket. Thanks to the efforts of the Furies and Lorne, no supernatural forces come near him. He grows up understanding that he was adopted, that Lawrence and Colleen are not his biological parents...and not thinking any less of them.
Of course, he wants to find his bio family. But only out of curiosity. His mom and dad (his parents) only told him that his mother (or who they think is his mom) worked hard to find a good home for him. He doesn't feel abandoned. He doesn't have any traumatic experiences (other than the one time he got lost in the store when he was five). Connor grows up relatively normal.
He watches Charmed with his big sister when he's a toddler (and connecting with the fourth sister, Paige, cause she was adopted too and loved her parents too), goes camping with his friends, is drawn to a lot of fantasy books like the Anna Rice novels. Mainly the ones that have vampires, for some reason. But never Stephanie Meyers, though. He gives up before he gets halfway through the first chapter in that series. That Bella girl is such an ungrateful brat!
His family goes out camping a lot, which was something Connor loved! He could almost imagine living off in the wild like Tarzan or Robinson Crusoe. Larence laughed at this and said. "You might just become the local menace in the woods."
He also loves to dance. Connor doesn't realize that he is just as artistic as his father and mother (well, Darla could sing well, and Angelus saw murder as an art form, but that's another story). It's mainly because he used to do boxing until he was 8 and punched a bag so hard that sand spilled out.
So, his dad suggested dancing instead. He could be like Billy Elliot and the chances of him punching someone's head clean off their shoulders would drastically decrease. Plus, dancing was fun! He didn't have to wear a tutu (thank God, his sister would never have let him live it down), and his instructors were amazed at how effortlessly he moved on the stage.
That's also how he met his future boyfriend (he's bi, his parents accepted that when he came out), Marcus. Marcus is on the football team and loves watching his boyfriend dance. He can't get over how graceful he is, it's almost inhuman.
Connor Reilly has an amazing life, and he can't think of how it could get any better than that.
About two weeks after he thinks this, the protection spells that were cast to protect him from the supernatural realm and hide him from enemies finally breaks. Connor gets hit by a car and crashes into the garage of his family's home without a scratch on him. His parents, now well into their fifties, get an anonymous tip that they might find answers with a certain investigations company.
They trekked to L.A. and get accosted by a vampire cult. Connor is too stunned to do anything as they pull him away from his parents, screaming their heads off in terror as their only son is ripped away.
Vampires are real. He thinks over and over again as he's dragged underground into what he suspects is connected to the sewers. Vampires are real and I'm going to die.
He's stripped naked save for a loincloth. The man (or vampire) that he suspects in their leader looks euphoric as he looks Connor over in his cell.
"At long last, the Miracle Child is among us once more."
Connor doesn't understand how he could be a miracle. Well, other than how it was a miracle that he wasn't killed by that car. And the other stuff in his life that he is conveniently ignoring for the sake of his own sanity.
"You shall be freed from this human prison and be worshipped among your kind."
Connor doesn't like the way the creep looks close to kissing him just then. He's a minor and already has a boyfriend, thank you very much!
Too soon, he's dragged out and tied to an alter where the Head Creep suddenly changes his face and bares his sharp teeth. Connor tries fighting, but the bindings are too strong and he's frozen with fear.
And then the Head Creep is dust. Literal dust. One of the other creeps is behind him wearing that same Scary Face, but for some reason, Connor isn't afraid of that one. The sword in his (savior?)'s hand shines in the torchlight and slash at the bindings. Before Connor can react, he's swaddled in the robe the Scary-But-Not-Scary Guy was wearing and witnesses all of the other vampires being hacked and staked until there's no one left but him and the other guy.
Then, the face goes back to normal and Connor finds it funny that the guy looks like he's brooding. Well, he would if he weren't half naked and still possibly awaiting death by fanage. Suddenly, a bundle is tossed his way and Connor realizes that it's his own clothes. His savior has the decency to look away while Connor changes, which pushes him further up the Guess You're Not Really A Bad Guy bar in Connor's book.
"Are you hurt?" His savior asks.
"No." Connor says honestly. Then, he realizes that there's a scratch on his cheek (probably from when the sword was cutting off the rope).
For some reason, this seems to get his savior upset. "Oh God, Connor, I am so sorry, I wasn't looking! I wasn't trying to hurt you and" -
Connor cuts him off before he continues to ramble. "How did you know my name?!"
Then, he sees the guy's face. It looks so much like his own, except...broodier and his hair is short. Connor lost his hair band keeping his man bun in check and he has to brush away the bangs going over his eyes.
Connor then realizes that he's meeting his biological father for the first time ever.

I want to talk about the relationship between adoptive families, adoptees, and biological families. Sometimes when a child is adopted, the adoptive parents will change the child’s name from their original birth name. This in itself is not a bad thing, however there is a right way and a wrong way to do. My parents changed my entire name in order to hide me from my biological family. I didn’t know my name was changed until three years after I was placed back into foster and I met my biological mom at 15. I wasn’t allowed to know my birth parent’s names, and I had never seen a picture of them either. The other thing that happens way too often is that some, not all, adoptive families will talk bad about their child’s biological family and make them out to be horrible people. As you can imagine this is not only problematic, but harmful for adoptees. I spent the majority of my life believing that my biological parents were bad people because that is what I was told. I was also told that I was unwanted and that’s why my parents lost me. Some biological parents do awful things, and make bad decisions, but that does not automatically mean that they are bad people. It is not within an adoptive parents right to make the decision whether or not their child’s birth parents were bad people, and it is unacceptable to push your opinions about them onto your adoptive child. It is your job to support your child, not to judge their parents. A child who has been adopted is going to have questions about why they were adopted, and where they come from. They have every right to ask these questions and have age appropriate answers to those questions. If you don’t have the answer, it’s okay to tell them that you don’t know. It is not okay to make up stories and lie about who their parents are or what they have done. Adopting a child does not give you the right to destroy a current or future relationship with their birth family. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what you personally think or feel about their biological family, it matters what your kid thinks and feels. Give them as much information as you can or as is appropriate, and allow them to decide what they feel. It is your job as the adoptive parent to be there for them as they figure out those thoughts and feelings, not to influence, persuade, or manipulate them either negatively or positively. If you can not be a neutral safe space for your adoptive child, then you have no business adopting them.

Next one, Decided to use lil Clover for this, so it's more of a flashback. Gave him a penguin plushie because his BF (in current timeline) likes them. Also no, the penguin wasn't the nightmare; its a completely different dream/flashback to his early childhood that freaked him out, a memory of something that happened to him before he was taken in by Angus.
(I probs won't do all of these from the post as some of the concepts I didn't really find that interesting, but I'll do at least the ones I liked.)
(Oh also also. If anyone wonders about Angus' eyes; he has some distant dragonic heritage, and because his powers allow for a level of shapeshifting, he was born with an extra pair of dragon eyes with heat vision. They are basically a mutation caused by the small amount of dragonic genetics mixing with his magic power type)
Angus looks a bit too beefy in this, but by the time I realized it, I was almost done and didn't feel like trying to fix it lol

Kakashi almost couldn't believe that he'd volunteered to supervise Naruto's field trip to the local zoo. What did he know about either animals or 7 year olds? Then he looked down at Naruto, sitting, calmly for once (or so he assumed, based on what his teacher, Ms. Mitarashi was always telling him), and knew he'd do just about anything for the little brat (affectionate).
“As I call your names, go line up with your parent-chaperone.”
Kakashi could see most of the kids were paying attention, but at least three girls were “whispering” together at something under one of their desks, one boy was playing with cars on his desk, and another two? three? boys were passing a paper back and forth.
“Mr. Hatake?”
Kakashi waved at the kids.
“Naruto, Kiba, Amir, Zion, and John are with you.”
Ah, one of the boys no longer paying attention was Naruto. At least he knew who that one was. Another of the boys poked him on his way up the aisle toward Kakashi. When Naruto looked up to… say something, Kakashi made eye contact and raised his eyebrows. Naruto got with the program and grabbed his backpack to join them. Ms. Mitarashi was already calling the next group of students as Kakashi led his group out of the classroom.

The bus ride to the Konoha Zoo was… something. Loud was probably the best descriptor. Despite the kids having been told to sit with their groups, Kakashi noticed that his was scattered all over. He could only assume the same was true of the other groups. He sat in one of the seats, debating standing to yell at the kids, when another body landed beside him.
“Don't bother.”
“Excuse me?”
“I recognize the look on your face from my own mirror— or would, if I brought a mirror on these trips.” The man held out his hand. “Iruka Umino.”
Kakashi took it. “Kakashi Hatake. What do you mean?”
“They won't listen. Best to save your voice for later.” The man, Iruka, explained.
“Oh.” That made a lot of sense, though Kakashi internally shuddered to think of the implications.
Ms. Mitarashi climbed onto the bus after the last of the students and took a final headcount. With a jolt, the bus started toward the zoo. Kakashi didn't know buses were so loud. The public buses he sometimes took certainly aren't.
Once the ride was somewhat smoother and the sound didn't feel as bone-rattling, Kakashi asked, “You chaperone a lot of these trips?”
Iruka nodded, then looked over his shoulder at a quiet boy who looked nothing like him. “Ever since I took in Sasuke and his older brother, Itachi.” Iruka was quiet for a while. Kakashi supposed he's a quiet guy, despite being the first of them to speak. Kakashi was about to turn his attention to the window when life came back to Iruka's face and he asked, “Which is your gremlin?”
Kakashi gave a mental snort. ‘Gremlin,’ indeed. “Naruto. Do you know him?”
“Ah, yes, the active blonde?”
“‘Active’ is a kind description. Gremlin is closer to right.”
Iruka laughed. “He does seem pretty adventurous when I come visit the class.”
They chatted the rest of the way to the zoo. Kakashi was sure he would find Iruka's insights and advice useful.

They'd barely made it through the entrance before Naruto bolted for the Reptile House.
“Naruto!” Naruto slowed, but didn't stop. “Wait for the group!” He didn't— kinda— he was waiting by the entrance. Probably because there was a small, fenced pond just outside with a couple of… frogs? sunning and swimming.
Naruto grabbed his sleeve. “Dad! Look at them! They're so tiny!”
The other boys gathered around to look, too. The frogs were smaller than even Naruto's small hand. Kakashi wondered how Naruto had even seen them, quick as he'd been running.
“They sure are. Do you know what kind they are?”
Naruto shrugged, like it didn't even matter. To him, it probably didn't. Kakashi still looked around for some kind of placard. Nothing out here, so maybe inside. Not that it mattered—all five boys were enthralled now with watching the two tiny frogs hop in and around their little pond. Naruto, completely focused like this, was completely adorable, and reminded Kakashi a lot of both Minato and Kushina when they had focused in on their individual fixations.
With the boys occupied, Kakashi took a moment to look around. The boys had blasted straight passed the confectionary stand—just as well, Kakashi didn't think any of them needed extra fuel. Beyond the Reptile House (which Kakashi thought likely housed more than reptiles, given the frogs outside) was a path with a sign that read ‘Northern Mammals.’ He figured that was likely both Alaskan and northern Canadian. Then he wondered if there might be penguins… Or polar bears! How would any if those cold weather creatures do living down here…?
Unfortunately, Kakashi's mind went for a wander. Fortunately, it came back in time to see the last of the boys slipping into the Reptile House. Kakashi lunged to follow after them. It was going to be a long day.
🐵🐍🐻🐸🦫🦜🦊🦆
It was a long morning. The boys ran from one exhibit to the next. Kakashi's only consolation was that they were content to remain in a group, even if they each had their turn being impatient with someone else's preoccupation. As Naruto had been enthralled by many of the reptiles and amphibians, Kiba was with many of the canine species, Amir with the great cats, Zion with the butterflies and other insects, and John with the monkeys.
By the time lunch rolled around, Kakashi couldn't wait to regroup with the rest of the class. Then the children could entertain themselves and enjoy more communal supervision.
Once they were within sight of the park where the class would have lunch, Kakashi let the kids sprint the rest of the way. He made his own beeline for the adult table where a number of parents were already sitting. Actually, it looked like all the other parents had arrived before his group. (Was he doomed to always be the last to arrive? He could swear his life hadn't been like that before Naruto…) He was in luck, too, the four moms had taken over one end of the picnic table for themselves, which left him a spot opposite Iruka.
Iruka looked up from his sandwich and waved as Kakashi sat down.
“Hey, how'd your group do this morning?”
Kakashi drooped dramatically. “It started with my kid taking off for the reptiles, and I'm not sure it stopped.”
Iruka laughed at him and winked. “Just wait until they refuel!”
Kakashi shuddered and pulled out his own lunch. He'd made onigiri for himself and Naruto last night—stuffed with supper's leftovers. He looked at what the other parents were eating and was surprised by the variety. Curried chickpeas over rice, pizza, pita wraps. It all looked so good.
“And your group? Were they as enthusiastic?” He took a bite of his onigiri after asking.
Iruka smiled. “My groups tend to be pretty calm. Ms. Mitarashi likes to put kids of similar energy levels together. It usually works out so each kid is in a group with a friend. Sasuke is pretty quiet, so he ends up with other kids who are pretty calm.”
Kakashi banged his head on the table. “That means I'm doomed whenever I can come again!”
His dramatics attracted the attention of the moms, and the one sitting next to him patted his shoulder consolingly. “I feel you.” She pointed at one of the boys trying to eat while hanging upside down from the monkey bars. “That one's mine, so my group is always high energy, too.”
All the adults at the table spent time trading stories about their kids and groups. The other parents also shared stories about other field trips that year or the year previous. Some were nightmare inducing, some were hilarious. Overall, Kakashi decided he wanted to make time to chaperone more of these trips.

The bus ride back to the school seemed unnaturally quiet. No one was yelling, no one was trying to move from one seat to another, no one was standing. Not even Naruto. The kids must have been as wrung out as Kakashi felt—and his energy reserves were significantly lower than theirs. He hoped this quiet would carry over to the house.
“Bet your wife will be happy that Naruto ran himself out today.”
Kakashi turned toward Iruka with a wry grin. “No wife.” And before Iruka could express any condolences, he continued, “Naruto's adopted.”
“Ah, similar to my situation with Sasuke and Itachi, then.”
Kakashi nodded. He'd picked up on that implication to Iruka's earlier statement.
“There's a single parents group that meets once a month.” Kakashi perked up at the information. “We informally call it Coffee and Commiseration.” Iruka's smile twitched into an almost smirk when he said it. Kakashi could completely understand how the name came to be. “It's mostly just a chance to spend time with other adults who understand. We rotate houses, so the kids play together and the rest of us can visit. Are you interested?”
“Hell, yes!” Talking with his other friends was good, but they were either married with their own kids, or had none at all.
Iruka flashed him a wide smile. “The meeting is at my house this month. This Saturday, actually.” He held out his phone to Kakashi. “If you give me your contact information, I can text you the details.”
The bus pulled up to the school, so Kakashi quickly typed in the information and passed the phone back. He looked forward to getting to know Iruka better.

Dude, I'm so tired of people blaming Beru and Owen for everything bad or wrong with Luke. I understand that Luke's life in Tatooine wasn't perfect, and that Owen wasn't a ‘perfect’ father, but I neither think they are to blame for anything. They did the best they could, they tried so hard in a very hard situation, they protect Luke with their lives and raised an amazing boy. If Luke (just like Leia and the Organas) is such a good man, capable of so much things, brave and kind is because Beru and Owen, they were his parents, he may call them aunt and uncle, and they may ‘kept’ that position mostly for Shmi and Anakin's memories, but they were his mom and dad and I'll die in this hill defending it and them.

Remember, us adoptees don't stay babies forever. We grow up. Every decision you make will come bite you in the ass later or affect the adoptee. See us as future adults you have to explain yourselves to.

Heres a prompt idea :D
Since I've seen only a few heroes and villains interaction when it comes to meeting Kids/young teens. I wonder what different interactions or dynamics that could occur(you could also add sidekick and henchman since I rarely saw those)
CW: mention of death, parental neglect, injury, and trafficking (non-sexual)
Superhero begins training a new sidekick, Hero. A young teenager who they recruited after they saw them manifesting an amazing power. Superhero's child, Villain, becomes intensely jealous of their mentor/student relationship since they often feel neglected or overlooked by their parent because of their work, leading them into villainy in the first place.
2. When Child's family is collateral damage in a fight between Hero and Villain, Villain decides to take them in and care for them as their own. Child doesn't know all the details about their family's death, but Villain convinces themself that they don't need to explain all that just yet.
3. Hero uncovers a criminal organization that traffics kids with powers as weapons or experiments. They intercept the next shipment and escape with several of the victims. But now they have several scared, highly volatile children of different ages on their hands. There's only one person they trust to help: Villain.
4. Child is an assassin sent to kill Hero. However, Hero catches on to their intentions early on and is horrified that they've been exposed to death and crime so young. They decide to evade Child's assassination attempts for the time being while they attempt to give Child the life of a normal kid.
5. Villain told Henchman they could bring home a puppy, not a kid. Though in Henchman's defense, there was no way they could have known the stray they found was actually a human with a shapeshifting ability. And it's not like they can just throw the kid back to streets.
6. Villain infiltrates the hero agency and discovers that they have begun a cloning project to replace Hero after they die. They even already have one Hero clone, though at the moment they're only a child. Disgusted, Villain steals the newly concious clone away and takes responsibility as their "parent."
7. When Sidekick infiltrates Villain's base on a mission, the criminal's teenage henchman trails them home. Despite their standoffish personality, it turns out they aren't looking for trouble, they just need a little love and care.
8. Hero and Villain have finally confessed their feelings and started dating. The adjustment period is already challenging enough, but it becomes even more so when Hero introduces Villain to their kid(s).
9. Supervillain may be evil, but they've always wanted kids. Now that they're finally in control and their villainous background can't stop them from adopting, they take a trip to an orphanage and are immediately drawn to Villain, the most feral child there.
10. Hero is killed in action, and it's definitely not Villain's fault. That's not why they go to the funeral. Or why they push for a memorial. Or why they adopt Hero's orphaned kids when they find out they were a single parent.
11. Hero is an unpowered member of the agency, but somehow they get paired up with a very, very, powerful rookie as a sidekick. Sidekick is young and reckless and not fully in control of their powers, so it's going to take a lot of work for Hero to keep them under control.
12. Child is what people would call inhuman, but that doesn't matter at all to Scientist and Villain who are used to not fitting in with normal society.

More on Pearl’s family status!
• Aside from her bio parents, Marina and Sean, Pearl also has Marie and Sheldon to look to as her second parental figures
>> Although Pearl cannot be adopted under Sean’s name, he was more than grateful for the Cuttlefish family to adopt her (for legal reasons)
• So now, as I pointed out in an earlier comic, Pearl’s full legal name is “Pearl Ida Cuttlefish”
