Thanks for asking! :D
Ask game
📚 Would you ever want to turn writing into a career?: That is the goal.
🤭Do you have a favorite tag to use when posting your works?: Barry whump or Barry Allen needs a hug. But if we’re going not character-specific; then kidnapping.
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?: Working on sitwlylram and listening to Remember Them from Epic: The Cyclops Saga rn, it’s one of my favorites (this specific song’s not really this fic’s vibe but the entire playlist is on loop so)

A and R for the alphabet ask game?
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
I've been thinking a lot about Snowest again, I have a so, so late flufftober fic still to finish for them, and the plan is three related in concept but unrelated in content fics for them for Femslash February, but I also have barely started those because most of my focus has been sewing. I did get a really good flow on a fic last night though so I'm about to go stick on a Flash episode and I have my laptop switched on instead of my sewing in my lap so we'll see where that gets us, with any luck there are 4 weeks in February, I can have a Snowest fic a week. Maybe. Fingers crossed. I may bribe myself with yarn
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favourite in fandom?
Switching to comics, there's generally more focus on Barry and Wally but I think Iris and Wally should be up there. That's her best friend, she's the first person who ever loved him, they are so important to each other and you can't have Wally's story without Iris because he would not want it. They love each other so much, I should write them more.
I do also love DCTV Iris and Wally. I should write more of those two too. They should get a big part in what is looking like will be my main fic for the year if I actually get around to writing that too, hopefully, that should be fun. That's also a Snowest fic.
Thank you!

Venus Dominant Themes — 𝐍𝐚𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐎𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 (part 2) 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟒
warning⚠️: violent imagery & details, femicide, mentions of cannibalism and rape.
Venus exalting in Pisces signifies Venus' desire of indulgence & excess, as Pisces represents what is extremely vast, otherworldly and boundless, as its ruler, Jupiter, expands whatever it touches — this allowing Venus to be completely unrestrained (to the point of vampirism, even). It's very ironic that Venus nakshatras can express this nature as well, being that they're often associated with exclusivity, restriction and high standards. But then again, it is the attainment of godliness or worthiness that opens these boundless vampiric themes in the first place, which I will be shortly exploring. So, it won't come as a surprise that Venus nakshatras are seen heavily dominating the most violent or cannibalistic films I could find.
Tumblr media
The 12th house is symbolic of transcendence and high powers, further amplifying this planet's desire to merge with something beyond the physical, this realization often leading to a kind of violent indulgence or sense of superiority to the point of total corruption.
This very consuming nature of Venus, where one's soul rots from their excess and indulgence, can be seen in the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, written by Purva Phalguni ASC native Oscar Wilde.
Tumblr media
The consequence of hedonism is what Oscar Wilde explores, as we follow the main character of the story who wishes to remain young & beautiful forever, while the portrait of him ages. And as he indulges in a life of excess and debauchery, he soon discovers that the portrait manifests his true moral decay. With Venus nakshatras, you'll see this play of beauty, innocence & youth alongside darkness, corruption & evil.
Tumblr media
This particular concept of transformative hidden evils and the corruption of innocence beyond human control can also be studied in The Omen movies, where a young innocent boy, usually by the name Damien, turns out to be the Antichrist. Just like how Dorian Gray is the source of loss and corruption, despite his outer beauty, Damien's presence, though an innocent child, causes chaos and death, particularly highlighting themes of predestination and the inescapable power of evil — as he's played by Bharani natives.
Tumblr media
The Omen (1976); Bharani Moon native Harvey Spencer Stephens as the Antichrist, Omen III: The Final Conflict (1981); Purva Phalguni Moon native Sam Neill as the Antichrist, The Omen (2006); Bharani Moon native Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick as the Antichrist, 666: The Child (2006); Bharani Moon native Booboo Stewart as the Antichrist.
Bharani nakshatra, ruled by Lord Yama, embodies cosmic law and necessary destruction through karmic balance. The birth of the Antichrist is significant and inevitable. In these films, the child is literally divinely protected, as anyone who tries to kill him is immediately eliminated by unseen forces. Bharani represents the womb and the tomb, the character embodying this paradox as his birth brings death to humanity's faith — marking the end of innocence and the beginning of darkness & corruption. The Antichrist is literally meant to bring hell on earth, the fires to come merely a symbol of purification instead of senseless chaos.
Generally, it seems that Venusians play sons of the Satan, like in the comedy Little Nicky, or in the thriller, which I mention later, Devil's Advocate.
Tumblr media
Children of the Satan is a historic idea, interpreted in the Bible, that reflects the demonization and dehumanization of certain groups, reflecting the discrimination and persecution toward those who are abused. I further touch on this specific pursuit of evil, generally expressed through superiority, later down in this post.
The ones who wield evil, or a predatory kind of power, such as the character Jennifer in the movie Jennifer's Body, can be viewed as symbols of purging flames. After all, all three Venus nakshatras are Ugra nakshatras. The movie plays with the idea that being a corrupted, or “monstrous”, force can make one the instrument of judgment. So, Jennifer's selective killing essentially reflects the discriminatory nature of Venus.
Tumblr media
Jennifer Check, played by Purva Ashada ASC Megan Fox, transformed into a predatory creature of a higher power and purpose, being a necessary evil who takes out the weak, the unworthy, and the opposing predatory force — males, who symbolize entitlement, exploitation, and agents of femicide. The Venusian is simply a force of reckoning, behind all of her beauty and seduction. In my Venus Dominant Themes part 1 post, I talked about Venus nakshatras embodying an equalizing, or domineering force of retribution and judgement. Jennifer's Body is this theme at its peak, as she was murdered by the male force as an innocent, so therefore goes on to brutally kill the boys at her high school after becoming demonic — this making her an apex predator in a world where women are always at the bottom of the hierarchy. She now became the punisher, in a sense, as there is justification for her monstrosity.
Purva Ashada is associated with cleansing & purification, connecting to her killing sprees where she devours the impure to restore balance. Bharani represents karmic retribution, acting as an agent of vengeance and justice. Purva Phalguni, on the other hand, represents pleasure, indulgence and beauty leading to one's downfall, as explored in the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, and the journey in overcoming such temptations.
Tumblr media
This is why Purva Phalguni needs Magha, or a strong Ketu force, to balance out its excess and chaotic compulsions. In Jennifer's Body, the main pairing is Ketu x Venus, where Needy is embodying Ketu's reducing force, as she is the only one to eliminate her demonic best friend. I already spoke of Ketu nakshatras being forces of destruction in order to reduce and drain, and Venus nakshatras overlap in this theme of vampirism as well, but they're also boundless and compulsive, which explains this nakshatra lord pairing.
Tumblr media
Also, I talked about the compulsive eating and consuming nature in Bharani nakshatra through the character Dre in the series Swarm. There's a scene where Jennifer compulsively eats to satisfy her predatory urges, as her body is in a heat of transformation. Purva Ashada is also influenced by the Pitta dosha (which explains the presence of Venus nakshatras in cannibalistic movies).
Tumblr media
Damien, from The Omen, is also another necessary evil, embodying a correction of the existing order. He is merely fulfilling a greater purpose beyond individual morality.
Tumblr media
Purva Ashada Sun Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick as Damien.
Like the religious doctrines say, the Antichrist is simply the precursor to the Second Coming, being the reason of a shift where the weak, the unworthy, and the sinners are removed (as, in Purva Ashada, it is the stage of cleansing and washing, however violent and chaotic this purification process goes).
The monstrous-feminine is a genre that is associated with Venus nakshatras, highlighting monstrosity being shaped inside the feminine which expresses rage & desire through themes such as violence, body horror and mortality. This concept essentially rejects traditional femininity, as it symbolizes a consuming power which cannot be contained.
In the movies Ginger Snaps, also starring a Purva Ashada native playing an apex predator, and Jennifer’s Body, the monstrous-feminine takes the form of godly transformation and insatiable hunger.
Tumblr media
The character, Ginger, has an important transformation to werewolfism, mirroring the awkwardness in puberty and an intensifying sexual awakening. But much like Jennifer Check, this transformation represents an animalistic, bloodthirsty rage, along with sexual empowerment & female autonomy — making them the ones who sit right on top of the food chain.
Tumblr media
Notice Ginger's bird skull necklace. Venus nakshatra characters, who represent a primal force, often decorate themselves with animal jewelries, to further signify this theme of being “king of the jungle”. This aspect of being apex predators relates a lot to hunting, too.
So usually, with these characters being bloodthirsty demons, there's a loss of control, as intense compulsions take over them when they dive more into the violence, which turns them into lethal predators who hunt for sport.
Tumblr media
Purva Ashada Moon Katharine Isabelle as Ginger Fitzgerald in Ginger Snaps.
Bharani, Purva Phalguni, Purva Ashada are constellations which are said to be favourable for activities that require violence, force, weapons, confronting enemies, demolishing structures, setting fires, capturing others with force etc. These nakshatras are good for hunting and committing acts of brutality.
Tumblr media
Purva Phalguni Sun, ASC Keanu Reeves plays John Wick who is a legendary hitman known as "Baba Yaga". Baba Yaga is a fearsome role in folklore who is an elderly deformed woman living in a hut surrounded by a fence made of human bones or skulls, this title that he has earned in the criminal underworld signifying him as a “king of the jungle” archetype. John Wick is characterized by his ruthless pursuit of vengeance and exceptional killing skills, making him good at hunting other humans to bring them to punishment.
Tumblr media
Kraven the Hunter is portrayed by Purva Phalguni ASC native Aaron Taylor Johnson, who is a big-game hunter of people who are criminals, smugglers, mobsters and mercenaries.
Tumblr media
Notice the animal claw necklace, signifying his animalistic dominance, just like with Ginger's necklace signifying her predatory power.
Now, the masculine expression of the monstrosity genre through Purva Ashada immediately puts the character Tighten, from the animation Megamind, to mind.
Tumblr media
Purva Ashada ASC Jonah Hill voices Tighten, who reflects a fragile, toxic masculinity after attaining higher powers. He possesses brute force, while having extreme rage issues from his sense of entitlement & inability to handle rejection.
Tighten believes he is superior, but due to his immaturity, he's unable to actually wield his power to conquer — as some of these Venusians often do when they put themselves on top of the whole food chain.
Tumblr media
Superiority means the exclusivity of others, and Venus naturally represents exclusivity in multiple ways. This also manifests into the hatred or discarding of others when this superiority means to reign dominion.
Tumblr media
Although I briefly typed Chris Hemsworth as an Uttara Phalguni Moon native in my Sun Dominant Themes exploration, I do believe he could still possibly be a Purva Phalguni Moon native, as he plays the character Thor, who can summon Mjolnir because he is worthy to, as those who are worthy can be the only ones to. You see this theme of godliness, worthiness, superiority being repeatedly played through these Venus nakshatras, but especially through Purva Phalguni & Purva Ashada, as these are nakshatras which test the ones walking their journey.
Tumblr media
Even Natalie Portman, who has Purva Phalguni Moon, becomes Lady Thor, and is one of the exclusive few deemed worthy & superior enough to lift & summon Mjolnir!
But back to superior, non-heroic characters.
Tumblr media
Sephiroth from Final Fantasy has been voiced by Bharani Sun native Lance Bass, Purva Ashada Sun native George Newbern, and recently Purva Phalguni Sun & Bharani Moon native Tyler Hoechlin. He is literally driven by a belief in his own superiority and exceptionalism, seeing himself as the rightful ruler of humanity, believing that he is destined to bring about a new world order. Not only does he want to become god, but he seeks to also punish humans as well for vengeance.
Tumblr media
As much as Venusians make great supervillains who seek to conquer through dominance, this general theme of their superiority/godliness extends to characters who are written to be good and just. Like Superman, for example.
Tumblr media
Often been depicted with strong messianic symbolism, Superman is a superior figure who constantly sacrifices himself for the greater good of humanity, embodying the idea of a benevolent saviour who came from the heavens, not of human but for humanity — being portrayed, usually, as beyond human flaws.
General Zod is one of Superman's most formidable foes, if not the most, as he possesses powers which can level Superman's, making him beyond dangerous once he sets foot on Earth.
Tumblr media
Zod is depicted as a ruthless and imposing leader, capable of inspiring both fear & loyalty in his followers, being the superior creature he is. Another thing of superiority is that it causes fear and mass obedience. General Zod is portrayed by Purva Phalguni ASC native Michael Shannon in Man of Steel.
Omni-Man is another character that can level Superman on a power level, although he's from another comic universe altogether. Like Superman, Omni-Man is an extraterrestrial being who possesses godlike strength, flight, and invincibility. He is voiced by Purva Ashada Sun native J. K. Simmons. But unlike Superman, who represents a benevolent god, Omni-Man represents a tyrannical god, wanting to reign dominion rather than co-existing with humanity.
Tumblr media
Typical of this discriminatory god-like archetype, he sees humans as weak and expendable, his fatherhood being defined by wanting his son to abandon humanity altogether — as he believes that strength determines worth, justifying his brutality, cruelty and genocidal tendencies.
The pursuit or attainment of godliness inevitably leads to the devaluation of humanity itself, as seen through the Purva Ashada character Omni-Man. His belief that superiority requires shedding humanity and sameness altogether creates a chilling detachment which justifies the brutality and oppression of those deemed insignificant. Being of a species known for god-like superpowers, he prides himself in the very traits that make him dangerous, his massacres and destruction simply a demonstration of dominance. A reminder of how vampiric and gothic the Venus nakshatras can be, on a massive scale, Omni-Man exemplifies how godliness, often defined by superiority from the Venus rulership, ultimately leads to the dehumanization and brutalization of others.
In part 1 of this Venus nakshatra series, I talked about the act of brutality, especially through the feminine, often being provoked in the first place, the feminine being an agent of swift vengeance against their rapists or abusers. But it seems that the act of brutality itself is an appreciated form of art for the masculine, through these Venus nakshatras, especially brutality inflicted on the female body. In these movies, especially from their posters alone, you'll see how Venus men are very particular about torture p*rn and women being the subject of it. Venus nakshatras, especially Bharani, are generally related to extreme, unstomachable, acts of violence.
For example, Martyrs (2008), is a torture p*rn meant to bring pleasure from its excessive, excruciating displays of pain. The grueling, nonstop butchery is thoroughly explored in a long 99 minute runtime which will likely scar viewers for life. This movie was made & directed by the Purva Phalguni Moon native Pascal Laugier. The most violent scene in it is the female protagonist being flayed alive. Notice the poster showing the brutalization of the female form.
Tumblr media
On the right is the poster for the torture p*rn movie, The Curse of Doctor Wolffenstein (2015), clearly displaying the victimization of a female. The movie is about a devilish doctor whose limbs rot from drinking a portion that turned him immortal, so he recklessly goes mutilating and murdering villagers to harvest their limbs. Nothing and no one will be safe from him even years after his resurrection. Bharani Sun native Marc Rohnstock created & directed this gore-fest.
Faces of Death (1978) stars Bharani Moon Michael Carr, playing Dr. Francis B. Gröss, who shows a collection of the most gruesome deaths around the world. As the poster says, it has been banned in 46 countries, and it is considered to be one of the most shocking documentaries ever.
Tumblr media
Cannibal Holocaust (1980), directed by Bharani Sun director Ruggero Deodato, is banned and heavily censored throughout the world. It is a found footage about a group of filmmakers who experience brutal deaths at the hands of a flesh-eating South American tribe. Another poster of this movie has a woman as the subject of grueling torture (bottom, right).
Tumblr media
Bharani Moon native Umberto Lenzi created & directed the cannibalistic torture p*rn movies, Cannibal Ferox and Mangiati Vivi! (Eaten Alive). This discriminatory displays of torture or “punishment” against women in these posters and the excessive violence against women in these horrific visuals, created by Bharani men, makes an indirect connection to Lord Yama, the overseer of the most brutal tortures known to hell, reflecting this nakshatra’s interplay of sexuality, pain, pleasure and even deviancy.
Tumblr media
Natural Born Killers (1994), directed by Bharani Moon William Oliver Stone, is about two lovers who go on a murder spree, killing more than 50 people. The story is written by Bharani Moon native Quentin Tarantino. The violence in the movie is used abundantly, and liberally, in the form of graphic murder, beatings, and torture. Bharani Moon native Rob Zombie is a slasher/horror filmmaker whose made many violent, satanic movies such as The Lords of Salem, 3 from Hell, The Devil's Rejects etc. He also made 31 and House of 1000 Corpses which are about surviving against homicidal maniacs and serial killers, which display moments of mayhem, violence and mental torture. Literally as if one is trapped in hell trying to make it out of the parade of maniacal demons, a kind of atmosphere that a Bharani native would be exhilarated to artistically reenact.
Though not Bharani, Purva Phalguni ASC native Aaron Taylor Johnson portrayed a perverted nightmarish character, in Nocturnal Animals, who reigned terror over an innocent family with his gang of degenerates one night, similar to the plot in House of 1000 Corpses in which a couple finds themselves in terror in a home of serial killers.
spoilers!: him, and his gang, brutally rape and murder the wife and daughter, leaving the male unharmed but no doubt traumatized.
Hell is filled with demonic executioners, servants of the Devil, demons, who are agents of torture relishing in misery, turning the torments into parades of cruelty where victims are displayed, mocked, and tormented in front of other suffering souls to intensify their dread. There are different kinds of demons in Naraka (hell), such as the flesh-eaters or those who force sinners to relive their crimes through hallucinations. Not the least bit surprising that Venus nakshatras may also embody such evil, barbaric and even illusory beings.
In Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), the character Scarlet Witch, played by Purva Phalguni ASC native Elizabeth Olsen, was first introduced as a mysterious villain, operating like a demonic agent of chaos, as she puts every Avenger under a spell where they hallucinate their dreadful past or future. There is an obvious relation to black magic with these nakshatras.
Purva Phalguni, being ruled by Bhaga, the god of pleasure and fortune, makes it associated with sensual indulgence, luxury, and excess. The intoxication of pleasure, the escapism into ecstasy which, taken into extremes, can descend into corruption & decadence, highlights Satanic or Luciferian philosophies which emphasize unrestricted desire.
Satanism is about rejecting imposed morality in favour of self-exploration and personal power, both connecting to self-gratification and may even lead to greed. So this nakshatra carries this exact energy, as it defies rules to revel in what the world deems sinful. Gluttony, desire, pride, lust, greed etc.
Even some depictions of hell aren't solely about burning in eternal fire and damnation, but literally being trapped in a never-ending, grotesque cycle of pleasure and consumption which winds up turning into torture itself. This reflects Purva Phalguni’s ability to push indulgence beyond joy, into addiction, self-destruction and pain (as better explored in the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray).
Devil’s Advocate (1997) is a movie which mirrors this shadow side of Purva Phalguni, strongly showcasing excessive pleasure, indulgence, vanity, and the seductive nature of power. It is directed by the Purva Ashada Sun native Taylor Hackford, and it stars Purva Phalguni Sun & ASC native Keanu Reeves, alongside Purva Phalguni ASC native Charlize Theron, who is tempted into sin by the Devil himself, who turns out to be his father.
Tumblr media
Keanu Reeves' character basically overcomes these shadow aspects of this nakshatra, rejecting power and temptation to instead embrace integrity, free will and moral responsibilities. This directly reflects the Sun rulership over this nakshatra, which is what it should all come down to. Purva Phalguni is a journey where one's self-control is tested when gifts of true power and opportunities of indulgence come along. Keanu Reeves' character in Devil's Advocate symbolizes the higher, dharmic qualities of the nakshatra. By the end of the movie, unlike Dorian Gray will ever, he chooses real love over false abundance. The native was meant to be challenged in controlling their urges. Being a royal nakshatra, and of solar nature, it thrives on dignity and honour, rather than manipulation and control, as the trap of vanity and self-obsession is supposed to be overcome in this cycle. In my Ketu Dominant Themes part 2 post, I talked about the possible case of self-obsession/self-indulgence in Ketu nakshatras. This gives even more perspective on how Venus nakshatras are supposed to transcend from where the consuming, passive Ketu nakshatras left of.
But it's very interesting that in Hindu and Buddist traditions, hell itself is not an eternal punishment of the fallen, but it is rather the place of cleansing the impure and ungodly. The brutal, immense punishments exist to purify the souls of the corrupt before their rebirth, these tortures assisted by Lord Yama's fierce yamadutas and demons. So this concept can be seen in the duality in the Venus nakshatras, which manifest in the specific way of compulsivity vs self-punishment, falling into pleasure vs liberation, indulgence vs self-restraint (and how one implements high standards for oneself to transcend). Venus, also known as Shukra, was the guru of the Asuras (demons), teaching them how rise, despite being cast aside by divine forces, by giving them knowledge on how to even challenge the gods, highlighting the potential of purification but also of liberation.

Tumblr media
I honestly didn't ever expect that I'd be in the position where I'd be using this blog not just to analyse what has come before in Homestuck, but to look toward the comic's future and do some real old-fashioned theorycrafting. but the time has come. so here goes; lime-bloods' Beyond Canon theories as of the July 6th 2024 update:
Vriska's Going to Hell
Tumblr media
were all gonna help you! / whether you like it or not
a select few eagle-eyed readers already noticed that the sound used in last month's (Vriska: Figure shit out yourself.) is called "hell_tierwav". while it was easy to dismiss this as irrelevant composer shenanigans at the time, it's now become clear exactly what this was foreshadowing. whether it would be more apt to call this "Hell" or "Purrgatory" is probably up for debate - but whatever you call it, Vriska's been placed in a dimension seemingly tailored specifically for her personal torment.
while Vriska characteristically interprets the recreation of her childhood home as a symbol of how badass she was, the ghosts of her past - both literal, as the shades of the trolls she killed as Mindfang, and figurative, in the form of sprites wearing the faces of her dead friends - show us in no uncertain terms that Vriska's childhood home is the stage where traumas play out.
Erisolsprite puts it succinctly with his welcome to hell, but pay close attention to what exactly we're being welcomed to: this update ends on page 665. so as of this next update, we'll be starting on page 666.
Does Homestuck Have Hell?
the exact bubble of reality Vriska's currently found herself in seems to be an entirely new construction of the likes we've not yet seen in Homestuck - but that doesn't mean this kind of cosmic torment is without precedent. because while 666 is a number with Satanic connotations in the broader cultural context, it also has a very particular meaning of its own within the world of Homestuck. indeed, the latter half of the comic almost revolves around it, culminating in a climax in Act 6 Act 6 Act 6.
specifically, this repetition of a single digit is emblematic of recursive storytelling. to summarise what you can already read about in detail in my essay The World / The Wheel: when Caliborn is 'gifted' the Act 6 Act 6 supercartridge, which he is told is an "expansion" of Homestuck, it's a trick. there is no "expansion"; he's going to be trapped in a story that never ends because it keeps dividing into smaller and smaller versions of itself forever. the only way to truly beat the devil who trapped the heroes within a story is to trap him in his own story.
that's what Caliborn's "Hell" is, and that's also exactly what the Alternate Calliope achieved in Act 7 by creating the black hole which Vriska knocked Lord English into, ending Homestuck's story - something that Calliope even hints at in this very update, when she refers to the black hole as "containment"; not an accident, but a deliberately crafted prison. black holes are a symbol of recursion and regression; being sucked into one means being forced to live out your whole life over and over again, forever. so really, this is all we ever could have expected to happen when Vriska stepped into a black hole within a black hole! the presentation of the narrative even subtly hints at this; events in Beyond Canon that take place in the black hole are enclosed (in brackets), and now events that take place in a black hole-within-a-black-hole are contained within {curly brackets}, because you should always use a different kind of brackets to differentiate nested parenthesis from each other!
it is absolutely no coincidence that when Caliborn closes the curtains on his appearances in Homestuck, thinking he's won when really he's been condemned to a hell of his own making forever more, it's with a tribute to this exact same Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff strip.
Tumblr media
IF YOU REMEMBER JUST ONE THING I SAY, OF SO MANY GREAT THINGS SAID BY ME, THEN PLEASE REMEMBER THIS. I WANTED TO PLAY A GAME.
So What Does That Mean?
one of Beyond Canon's central missions is expanding upon Homestuck's exploration of the relationships between author, text, and audience. as discussed above, a large part of Homestuck's thesis is the evil of forcing characters to live the same lives and the same stories over and over without the chance to grow or move on, and Beyond Canon picks up on this by placing Dirk in the position of trying to keep Homestuck going forever purely to appease its fans, while the Alternate Calliope continues to oppose this ideology. and while the alpha Calliope outwardly seems not to have taken a hard position on where she stands in this cosmic battle, the question posed by her device seems to be an entirely new one: can it actually be a good thing to regress, to return to ground that the story has already covered? can this path lead to something new, rather than merely stagnation?
it's so relevant that Vriska is being confronted with the crimes of her past, not only in the form of all the trolls she was personally responsible for killing but also in the form of the exact same punishment she condemned Lord English to with her heroism - complete with the herd of horses that are always present at Caliborn's demise! but where being condemned to an eternal cycle was fitting punishment for Caliborn, someone who refuses to break free of cycles of abuse and instead chooses to enact that same abuse on the world around him... if Vriska is someone who can break free of these cycles, who can change and become a better person despite what happened to her, will this punishment have the same effect? or, as Davepeta seems to believe, is forcing Vriska to reckon with her own past and traumas exactly what will allow her to break free of that cycle?
Tumblr media
DAVE: [...] ill just be over here in the hyper gravity chamber training to beat lord english KARKAT: WE HAVE A HYPER GRAVITY CHAMBER???
it's hard not to be struck by the parallels in design and purpose between the Plot Point and Dragon Ball's Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and not just because of the Dragon Ball enthusiasts present on Beyond Canon's writing and art teams: albeit in typically Strider-bastardised form, the Time Chamber got a shoutout in Andrew Hussie's own Homestuck (see quote above), in a reference that was even picked up on by prolific theorist bladekindeyewear at the time. for the uninitiated: the Hyperbolic Time Chamber allowed its users to train for extended stretches of time, sometimes even spanning years, while a significantly smaller time period passed in the world outside - something that is actually true of real-life black holes! and with the Plot Point's own emphasis on time, represented by the hourglass included among its mechanisms, it seems to me that an essential part of making the 16-year-old Vriska ready for the trials ahead will be giving her the time to undergo the same growth her adult friends have experienced.
considering that Beyond Canon is already playing in the Ultimate Self space, where there are levels of power beyond merely the "god tiers", it also doesn't seem too farfetched to speculate that Vriska, forced to reckon with the fact that becoming a powerful Thief of Light isn't the be-all and end-all of personal growth, will take another leaf out of Dragon Ball's book here and ascend "beyond Super Saiyan". perhaps this is even the "hell tier" so cheekily alluded to in the Plot Point flash? certainly this kind of evolution would be the perfect way to challenge Dirk's belief that the Ultimate Self is the only logical final step for a character's development.
whatever the case, I believe we can take Davepeta at their word here. I don't think it's just a joke that by the end of this ordeal Vriska Serket is going to be fucking RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPED!

Helluva Boss observations and easter eggs you may not have noticed!: Pilot
The pilot is both a great place and weird place to start, as it is our introduction to the cast and world, but also no longer considered canon. Many of the events and details we learn/see are later confirmed in the series itself, but there were quite a few changes.
I want to start off with some design changes!
Tumblr media
With Millie, she used to have white roots visible, this actually kept up for a few of the early episodes. As we know now it seems imps have two noticeable instances of sexual dimorphism: females have black horns with thin white stripes and naturally black hair, and males have evenly sized black and white stripes on their horns and naturally black hair. We see many trans or otherly gender queer imps that dye their hair with visible roots. I assume Millie's design was changed when that was established to be a gender difference in imps.
Her heart tattoo is also much smaller, and switches sides (an animation error almost certainly) When the pilot first came out I actually thought she had a heart on both shoulders.
Some stuff with Stolas!
Tumblr media
We see his hand outlined with a red glow at one point, presumably representing his magic. While in the series his magic is represented by blue. This is most likely due to the change of his character as he was originally planned to be a villain.
Not a design change, but I find it funny that Stolas' name in Blitzø's phone is "Creepy Mouth (aka one night stand bird dick)". Surprisingly all being spelled correctly.
Tumblr media
Stolas' Grimore! I actually only noticed this on this last watch. It was a darker blue(purple? red? It changes in different scenes) and instead of the moon design it has a different insignia of his that we still see throughout the series in various places (notably on his bed) it also has no design on the back.
Little details!
Tumblr media
I didn't realize before either that the woman who Moxxie is trying to shoot before Eddie gets in the way, is Eddie's mom. I'm sure this is something many others picked up on immediately though.
Tumblr media
Speaking of which, the human news anchor shown at the end bares a striking resemblance to a character of Brandons: a news anchor named Flint Dicker.
Tumblr media
A poster of "THE AMAZING IMP SIBLINGS" is on the wall of the conference room. Showing Blitzø, Barbie Wire, and another character labeled "Tilla". This was changed in the series to just being Blitzø and Barbie, Tilla's design being slightly altered and then used for their mom.
Hazbin easter eggs! Oh boy is there a lot of them.
Tumblr media
In the commercial sequence we see in the room of one of the targets a framed drawing of Sir Pentious
In the background of when Blitzø is interviewing a previous client, there is a billboard for 666 News ft. A photo of Katie Killjoy, I especially love this one as Brandon ended up voicing her!
In Blitzø's office he had a vision board labeled "BOSS GOALS" with 5 drawings, in the center is Blitzø labeled "ME!" Top left we have Katie again, top right is a duck with a top hat and two $'s, this assumably referencing Lucifer, bottom left is Rosie, an arrow pointing to her hat labeled so eloquently "HAT" and lastly in the bottom right there is a more detailed drawing that looks to be Carmilla Carmine labeled "Moxxie drew not as good" this tracking later as in 1.05 "The Harvest Moon Festival" Moxxie talks about Carmine angelic weaponry, showing a great interest in her business.
Next is a dumpster in an alley with various graffiti. Notably, a face that looks to be Nifty, "ALWAYS CHASING RAINBOWS" and "HAPPY HOTEL". There is also a sinister face labeled "DEVIL". Im not sure if this is a specific refrence to anything though.
Lastly, one that I'm sure almost everyone noticed but feel the need to include, is we can see Loona watching Charlie's performance of "Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow"
Funny observations:
Tumblr media
When the crew teleports into the church, we see maany people with some pretty detailed designs, I do not know if or what they may be referencing, but I have a strong suspicion it is something, my guess is that they are caricatures of some people who worked on the pilot. One person in specifically is wearing a jacket with a patch reading "WHEN YOU SEE IT" with a 👌
Tumblr media
Signs! In the hospital we see a sign saying "WE SAVE LIVES" in faded text it reads between we and save "try to" and after lives another line is visible starting with "but" I cannot make out the rest.
Others show that they are in ward 13, the next room over labeled as 667, implying the room that Eddie was in is 666
A note is taped to the side of the fridge of the break room reading "LOONA DONT EAT MY LUNCH -MOXXIE"
Tumblr media
Another thing I only noticed recently is when Blitzø sneaks out at the Goetia palace, he is naked except for his jacket, with the grimore serving as some creative censorship. (+Stella's beta design. I personally love her current design, but this one wasn't bad)
Tumblr media
When Blitzø makes the comment about making Moxxie the employee of the month he holds up a small plaque as an example, a larger version of this same plaque, is visible on a wall in the commercial sequence.
While in their hazmat suits(idk if that's what these actually are), you can see the shape of Moxxie's bowtie under it
... and just Blitzø holding some targets panties, cause why not
There are a handful of other details, but I'm going to hold onto those as later on we see call backs to them. Also, I've spent a lot more on this than Id planned already, I have at least 3 hours on this one alone.
Please bare with me, I promise these will get more interesting the further we go in the series!

For the ship bingo- Cisco/Iris/Barry and Cisco/Hartley?
Barriscowest
Tumblr media
AHAHA I AM SO NORMAL ABOUT THEM —IGNORE THE CAPS LOCK— SO SO NORMAL I PROMISE. You combine two of my favorite ships (Westallen and Barrisco) and what you get is me being So Incredibly Normal about them. K joking over, I’m obsessed with them. And I’ve mentioned this before but you’re the one that got me into them through “Barry Allen Is(n’t) Dead” so I’m glad you asked for them :D! I just have so so many blorbo feelings about them. And there’s SO much potential with them. I’ve had lots of fun writing them in my Star Wars AU, and ngl I keep getting the urge to add this ship to like All of my wips ( cept Trophy, for obvious reasons :< )
Hartmon
Tumblr media
MUCH potential here. Their banter was so fun and I’m completely on board with this ship, even if I’ve admittedly not read that much of it.

For the WIP guessing game: Love
Ctrl+f tells me there are so far 15 matches for love in the Snowest Snow White AU. One is part of lovely, two are part of loved, but here is one that is just love:
“No,” she said, shaking her head. “I… I had a friend once, that perhaps I could have learnt how to love, if we had the time.”
Thank you!

Every Copia Antichrist Theory Detail (That I Know Of)- Part One
So there's a theory going around that Papa Emeritus IV/Copia is going to become the Antichrist and have an 'evil' era after the Re-Imperatour is over, and honestly, I believe at the least that Copia is going to become the Antichrist. Here's every detail I've found and complied so far-
1. 666. In some of the stained glass windows that depict Copia, he has a 666 tattoo on his chest. This number also appears on his blue Papa robe and in the Call Me Little Sunshine music video. Normally, 666 is simply a number to represent evil, but in the Bible it's actually used to represent the upcoming Antichrist. This is probably the most solid piece of proof that Copia is going to become the Antichrist and what got me hooked on this theory in the first place. While 666 is stereotypically an 'evil' number, judging by how precise and knowledgable Tobias is, it's highly unlikely he added this number three times to Copia's character just for the aesthetic but none of the other Papas.
2. The Unholy Trinity. The 'Unholy Trinity' are the opposites of the Holy Trinity- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Unholy Trinity consists of Satan, the Beast aka the Antichrist, and the False Prophet. I and many others believe that Jim DeFroque of Jesus He Knows Me is the False Prophet giving his entire character is about giving people false hope and turning his back on what he preaches. So Satan is himself, Jim is the False Prophet, and Copia the Antichrist.
3. A Pale Horse. Copia is often depicted on a pale white horse. Especially in the Rats video, this is very obviously a reference to one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse- Death. Copia isn't just seen on a white horse in the Rats video but also on official Ghost merch as well. To top this off, the first three albums depict the birth, rise, and reign of the Antichrist. Opus Eponymous is about his birth, Infestissumam is about the presence of the Devil and the Antichrist, and Meliora is about the absence of God and the reign of the Antichrist. Then we get to Copia's first album Prequelle and it's about the Black Plague and death, aka the first horseman of the apocalypse. Then his second album Impera which is about the rise and fall of empires which takes place in modern day. So all the previous albums were about the birth and rise of the Antichrist, then we get to Copia's albums and it's about death and the rise and fall of empires, not centering about the Antichrist. Most likely because Copia, being the upcoming Antichrist, isn't writing and singing songs about himself.
4. White eyes. Everyone knows that the Emeritus family have one white eye and one green eye- a genetically inherited trait from Nihil. White eyes are symbolically used to represent power, heaven, supremacy, wealth, and leadership, and what's interesting about this is there are many hints pointing to Copia gaining two white eyes. First, the promotional artwork for the Imperatour and Re-Imperatour. The France, Europe, official Re-Imperatour, and the Kia Forum artwork all show one white and one green eye as normal. But then you get to the South America promotional artwork and his white eye is on the wrong side. It's on his right rather than his left as usual. Is this an artist's mistake- which, if it was, why would Tobias use it as often as he did on Instagram and not fix it- or is it showing two white eyes rather than one, considering you can't see the left side of his face in it? Second, Phantomime. The Phantomime cover shows Copia in a corpse-like pose with two glowing white eyes. This could again just be an artistic take, but it seems like an odd change nonetheless. And third, the Escape the Ministry game seems trivial and just like fun, but it actually holds many clues (more I'll go over later). For this point, the ending has a 'Thank you for celebrating Phantomime with us' note with a drawing of Papa IV in which he has two white eyes yet again. Once is an artist mistake, twice is a coincidence, but three times? Three different times Papa IV is shown with two white eyes instead of one? Very very odd. And why is this so important? Well, in the Infestissumam cover, the baby that represents the Antichrist has two white eyes.
5. Sister Imperator. In Chapter 3: Back On The Road, the three Emeritus brothers are killed- ordered by Sister Imperator- because they were doing unsatisfactory and so Copia could become Papa. She wants Copia to become Papa obviously because he's her son, but then goes on to say that she 'can't' call him Papa because of Nihil (and in 'Tomb It May Concern' calls him C). Is it really because of Nihil, or is it because she doesn't want him to meet the same fate as the other Emeritus brothers? Would she try to make him or at least encourage him to become the Antichrist in order to save him and so the Ministry can't kill him? She is the one, after all, to proudly announce to him that he's performing at the Kia Forum in Chapter 16: Tax Season, the show many people believe Copia is going to die at because it's the last show of the Re-Imperatour, recording is not allowed, and the line 'When the summer dies, severing the ties/I'm with you always, always' from Darkness at the Heart of My Love (and September 11th is days before the Fall Solstice, signaling the end of summer). Why would Sister sound so proud and happy of this if her son was going to die? Wouldn't she be happy and proud if her son were to say gain more power or survive the Ministry's- especially Nihil's- attempts to off him? Also, there's a line in the song Witch Image (from Prequelle) that goes 'But like a mother would save her own child from digging a grave'. Sister Imperator is trying to save Copia, not kill him. Becoming the Antichrist would seal his immortality and save him from the Ministry.
6. Alternatively, Saltarian. In the same chapter Tax Season, Saltarian is grinning at Copia while pushing the glass coffin. Saltarian for the most part has acted kind of aloof and hostile to Copia, except for in Chapter 13: The Beach Life where he invites Copia to his beach house, has some laugh with him, and talks to him about his European Summer Tour. Then in next chapter Road Trip, he tells Copia he 'knows when his time is up' which is very odd considering no one really knows who the Saltarian is. All we know is he's in the Clergy and works close with Sister and Nihil (and his name derives from the Italian word 'jump/leap', Saltare). But what I really want to focus on is the game Copia is playing in Tax Season. He's playing a driving game called Driving Miss Daisy which isn't a real game but a movie. The description of said movie is: "Daisy Werthan, an elderly Jewish widow living in Atlanta, is determined to maintain her independence. However, when she crashes her car, her son, Boolie, arranges for her to have a chauffeur, an African-American driver named Hoke Colburn. Daisy and Hoke's relationship gets off to a rocky start, but they gradually form a close friendship over the years, one that transcends racial prejudices and social conventions." Sounds kinda like Copia and Saltarian. So did Saltarian smile at him sinisterly and knowingly or did he smile at him because he wants to help him (from who I don't know- could be the Clergy or Sister if she wants Copia dead for whatever reason).
More to come but this is getting too long :P

Writing game: post the last line you wrote and tag someone for every word in that line
I'm gonna cheat and do two sentences since they're both short. And also basically one single sentiment anyway.
It was electric, like running in the rain. But warmer.

Longlegs 6.5 / 10
I like to word vomit a lot about horror movies and I think the best place to put my thoughts and horror movie collections will be here for now.
Initially when I watched the movie it was a fresh 8 out of 10 coming out of the theater but now that I have time to let it sink in and revisit the imagery, symbolism, directors influences, etc. I've settled between a 7 and 6 making it a 6.5.
Things I did enjoy:
I enjoy a lot of analog/found footage type horror films. I think placing this (mainly) during the 90s for the "Satanic Panic" was a wonderful and appropriate time setting for this film. Not only that, but there is something about "older" horror movies do to the lack of "modern/fast" technology makes things more tense. We notice Lee Harker sometimes pulling out a phone during her investigations but obviously they weren't as reliable as they are now. When you're in a pinch you can't just whip that phone out and call fellow detectives or local authorities for backup as easily, you chose to fight or flee.
I know a lot of people hated the dead space scenes, I quite enjoyed them. The visuals were stunning, and I did like the open space to enjoy the beautiful wide shots of 70s to 90s American Gothic landscapes. It gave the viewer time to tense up, wonder, question, and sit in the anxiety the movie was meant to give you. I'm not a huge fan of cheap jump scares. Using a jump scare shouldn't be the basis of a good horror movie unless that's what you're 100% aiming for.
I'm also a big fan of the symbolism that it did show! There was a good nod to Glam Rock and how that tied into the Satanic Panic of the 80s-90s. Longlegs (according to the makeup artist) had remodeled their face via botched plastic surgeries of the 70s to impress the Devil. Longlegs wanted to stay youthful for the Devil. It very much gave me that impression. Initially I thought Longlegs did it to themself, as they are a doll maker, but I wasn't far off. Longlegs did give off a youthful energy, seemingly wanting to stay childish and innocent forever by the way they acted and tried to look. This is also referenced by Lee's mother (Ruth Harker), during the scene where she tries to get the truth out of her mother regarding her past birthday when she was younger.
Lastly, I thoroughly enjoyed Maika Monroe (Lee Harker), Blair Underwood (Agent Carter), and Longlegs (Nicolas Cage) performances. I love to see artists play roles that are different from their "normal". If you can take me out of your past roles and convince me that you are now a brand new character, I think you've done great. I will be fair though, Maika has done several horror films so this may not be "new" to her. However; her meek, monotone, and expressionless character gave me the chills especially when she did have moments of passion/expression (ex: Lee Harker screaming in the car on the way to Ruby Carter's birthday)
Now to the things I didn't care for / wish they expanded on:
There were several religious motifs that not all viewers understood (myself included). I did see nods to Dante's Inferno, Revelation 13:1, religious iconography such as the obvious "666" and snakes. However, if you're not fully religious (or practice a different religion entirely) perhaps the casual viewer wouldn't catch onto those pertinent details. They quoted several times a passage from The King James version of Revelation 13:1, which is from the Protestant branch of Christianity. I think the director failed to go into more detail in regards to that, so at least more casual viewers can understand. I did notice a huge discrepancy on ratings and how a religious viewer tended to enjoy the movie more BECAUSE they understood the religious symbolism, iconography, and passages...versus someone who did not.
This I felt more so-so. I noticed Longlegs was a huge fan of Glam Rock, specifically a lot of Lou Reed's album Transformer was plastered everywhere in Longlegs little basement home. I'm not sure how much the director wanted it to be known (that's why I feel so-so about this). I know some viewers questioned the sexuality and gender identity of Longlegs. They did use he/him pronouns for Longlegs. I did not personally believe that was supposed to be a focus of the movie. That's why I feel so mehhh about it. But I know the director did add that in due to his own personal life struggles of his own father living a double life. One as a married straight man with a wife and kids, and the secret life of his father being Bisexual / Homosexual. If you didn't already know, Anthony Perkin's is the directors (Oz Perkins) father. Since Anthony was in the legendary movie Psycho, during the 1960s being in his height of popularity, I could only imagine he chose not to come out due to homophobia during that era. Glam Rock had the tendency to reach that edge of Queer tropes though. (Which I do wish they expanded on more, because a lot of people missed that.) Glam Rock was seen as the Devils music because of its purposeful flamboyance. It had always teeter on the edge of femininity and gender non-conformity. I mean, Lou Reed's "Transformer" album was about the struggle of gender and sexuality....if it wasn't a hint enough from the song "Walk on the Wild Side", in some interviews Lou had mentioned being a "transvestite", Lou's muse (Rachel) was an out and open (at the time considered) transsexual female and Lou had surrounded himself with that community as well. I don't think Longlegs is meant to be transgender, but I do think Longlegs fucked with gender non-conformity(who really knows). I know some people might think it may have made the movie itself transphobic, but if we look at who the killers ARE. It's straight cis males who killed their wives and kids. So this one, I think I would have liked to know a little more, instead of piecing it together through tiny details. But also it begs to differ, maybe the fact that the gender and sexuality is UNKNOWN and will remain UNKNOWN, and in general the UNKNOWN is what scares people, and what makes others demonize it. (and yes I know they use he/him pronouns for Longlegs)
Final thoughts, If you're going to make a full new symbolic demonic alphabet and advertise that in your trailers for the movie....why not use it? I was SO excited to learn more about that, but they never once touched on that which was so disappointing to me. The name Longlegs, the imagery of actual long thin legs, and the demonic alphabet they made for the "movie" was essentially all for the trailer to get you hyped. Because NONE of that was explained or shown in the movie. Even the director noted they used the moniker Longlegs to evoke some cool 70s evil imagery, but it really did not mean anything in the long run.
Thanks for reading if anyone did. I just love to write my thoughts down, despite a reading or lack there of....BYE!!!!!
