okay i need to appeal to somebody with greater knowledge and greater ability to crowdsource: i’m trying to find out what happened to the real saddler. and everyone is telling me they found his body at the bottom of the elevator shaft but nobody has given me a SOURCE and i feel crazy cause i swear 22 just does not say that anywhere. is my pdf defective? do they say it in a later book?

So what it says in #22: a doctor tells Saddler's mom "Your son's heart stopped. We were rushing him to surgery, but in all honesty he was not going to make it... Then, as they were taking him up to the O.R., something happened with the elevator. It jammed or... or something. The nurse and doctor who were with him seemed to have been knocked out. When they came to, the elevator was working again. They rushed your son to surgery where he... he opened his eyes!" (p. 104-105). The doctor waves his hands and protests about Saddler being uninjured a while longer, and then sends him home.

When Rachel explains that they're trapping David in morph, she says "David's life would end, just the same. And so would 'Saddler's.' Eventually, they would find the real Saddler's body, and then they would know, at least for them, there was no such thing as a miracle."

Judging by what we know of David's morphs and character, I'm guessing it's something like:

He waits around until Saddler's in the elevator (or triggers it by fucking with the heart monitor)

He pulls a fire alarm and/or emergency shutdown

He gets into the elevator as a roach and uses cobra venom or hospital drugs to take the doc and nurse down

He acquires and morphs Saddler

He takes the elevator to the morgue and dumps Saddler there

He gets in bed and waits for the doctor and nurse to recover

But we don't know what happened to the real Saddler. I've seen the theory that David morphed lion and ate him, or that he stashed him in an unused room. I think people refer to Saddler getting tossed down an elevator shaft because he disappeared inside an elevator, not necessarily being literal. (Like, how would David access it?)

Shockingly I named some OCs recently and fleshed out the deity lore a bit for my "guess i'll marry the demon lord?" plot.

Solei has existed since near the start but Mehra and Valdas are new to the concept and all three? Petty. They're technically the Trio of Peace cause that's kinda their goal and duty to their world but really, Trio of Pettiness is suitable as well.

One of the most interesting parts of Naruto that I haven’t seen talked about nearly enough is the concept of offering a hand to someone who has done you wrong and you have no reason to like.

Naruto hardly ever offers help to or has meaningful conversations with anyone who… for lack of a better term, isn’t an asshole. From condescending Neji to serial killer Gaara to fascist dictator Nagato, Naruto primarily redeems people he has no reason to respect, let alone like. Yet, save for maybe Haku and Nagato, Naruto is the first person to open a line of communication and offer sympathy where they don’t offer him any. This is all based on a core principle of the Naruto series:

Bad People Are Still People

They have reason behind why they think and act the way that they do, they have feelings and fears and interests, and they have both the capacity for good and to change. Naruto’s “talk-no-jutsu” is him appealing to an enemy’s humanity and inspiring them to do better in the same way he inspires his friends.

One detail about the second Masked Man fight that absolutely guts me is how Kumatora, Duster, and Boney can all be revived and knocked unconscious over and over again by Claus and Lucas will refuse to attack. But when Claus knocks Flint out and makes him suffer major damage, then Lucas can muster up the urge to fight. No matter how rocky and distant Flint and Lucas's relationship got over those three years, Lucas still deeply loves and cares about his dad.

"What do you remember of being human, Echo?" The question is out of the blue and unexpected. But Sora offers a patient smile and tilts her head in curiosity, just enough that one of her ears flops over. It's endearing, if anything.

But Echo wishes she hadn't asked.

"Not much. Distinct memories are cloudy." A tired tone says softly, a pained recollection in her eyes and an acrid haze in her soul that endures, endures, and endures, "But I remember the discomfort more than anything. My body always did feel wrong back then. Misshapen. Condensed. Like it was too small for everything buried underneath, and that ache went so deeply some days that it would make my skin crawl. I hated that part the most."

At that, Sora's expression falls. She looks inexplicably sad, as if she'd hoped for a different response, a gentler one despite knowing the harsh truth about the dark future and the struggles Echo must have suffered. "But you had Grovyle, right? I'm sure he took care of you."

"He did, Sora, of course he did." A sigh, a flick of an ear and claws clenched tightly into the churned earth pressed under her paws. "I doubt I deserved his attention, though. I was too busy being angry at the world to give any care back."

In my lore, Echo does not look fully human during their time in the dark future. Since they were Darkrai before becoming human, and as a result of Palkia's reckless shattering of the Dimensional Portal which distorted both time and space, Echo's transformation was broken and accidental. They ended up looking pretty messed up and definitely (not) human. A lot of their characteristics as Darkrai carried over but rather morphed into something else.

And Grovyle, growing up in a world where humans have been extinct for longer than any living pokémon has been alive, has no concept of what a "true" human looks like. The only thing he knows is descriptions of humans from glyphs and texts in old ruins. Thus, he mistakes Echo for an actual human. And Echo, not knowing what a human looks like themselves due to amnesia, accepts this identification with nothing better to use.

I love how changing Claudia and Louis race to black ends up focusing and exploring more deeply into how vampires often exploit the marginalized (which is just what most people do but more dramatized since it’s fiction)

they’re not intentionally hating and using them because they’re black, they’re doing those things because they can get away with it more. Since people don’t care for black people’s well being, they can get away with any wrong done to them way more, they can leech and leech off of them until there is nothing left with little to no consequence! This was a minor, unexplored theme in the first book which was neglected which is sad since I feel like it adds a lot more to the vampires. By the show changing both Louis and Claudia to be black, it ends up pointing how easily people can get away with violence against black people especially during history! It shows that the vampires, just like humans, can be bigoted without an intense hate for the minority group in question. It points out how bigotry can be both subconscious, accidental and most horrifically, done just for power since they get away with it completely
