duan ling: it's a very pretty card, the paper has flower petals and rare plants embedded into it. in it, he reveals that he's the crown prince of your kingdom, and begs you to never treat him differently, even after he ascends to the throne

wu du: he personalized the card with pictures and drawings of things you like, and it smells very good (almost too good if we're being honest... and you start feeling a little drowsy after opening it). he put some trinkets he thought you'd like inside the envelope as well. however, the post scriptum asks you to remind him what your name is

lang junxia: there is a card, but he hid it so well that you won't find it until six months after you two break up. inside there are all the words he didn't tell you while you were together. you find yourself wishing you'd never broken up with him, and go stargazing on your own

zheng yan: there's no card. he's already in your house, naked covered only by a bouquet of flowers, and a five course meal with accompanying wine menu is ready on the table

chang liujun: the card is plain and the handwriting on it is terrible, but it's fully handwritten, and you can tell how much effort he put into it. it asks if he can bring his son protegé on your date

borjigin batu: there's no card. he kidnaps you and takes you to his house, where he gifts you a dagger and begs you to become his anda

helian bo: he bought an over the top card from a chain, but his handwritten note inside is very thoughtful. however, it says that he has been promised in marriage to your distant cousin, and you can't be together

cai yan: the card is very cute, covered in little doodles he drew while overthinking what he should write in it. several versions of the same message are crossed out, and you think the crossed out versions are better than the final message. it begs you to never leave him

yelu zhongzhen: it's a beautiful, handcrafted, and clearly expensive card. the words inside are concise, but will remain with you for a lifetime. you understand that you will never see each other again, unable to forget the little time you had together

li jianghong: it's an anonymous piece of paper with a cryptic poem instructing you where to meet him at midnight on valentine's day. the last words are 'burn after reading'

li yanqiu: it's handwritten on expensive paper with the imperial stamp on it. it summons you to the palace with utmost urgency. are you getting executed or married? who knows, probably not even him

lang junxia: there's no card. he attempts an assassination on you on valentine's day three years in a row. it fails each time

li yanqiu: there's no card. he sends zheng yan to kidnap summon you

zheng yan: the card is plain but tasteful. inside it he promises you the marquis of huaiyin's loyalty to the li family

wu du: the card is blank, but as soon as you touch it, the poison enters your bloodstream and you drop dead. as you draw your last breath, you remember that one time when you were a little too friendly with duan ling

cai wen: it's a store bought card, but exactly to your taste. he asks if you mind if he brings his little brother on your date

li jianghong: it's another anonymous scrap of paper. it asks if you can find his son and raise him for five years

lang junxia (again. sorry): there's no card. he makes you a shrine instead. yes, the whole building, including a hand painted mural. it's unfinished though

duan ling: you happen to both be at an event together, and he asks you to speak in private. you think he's going to give you a card, but he slaps you and calls you an ungrateful, unfilial, unworthy corrupt official instead

yao zheng: you haven't spoken with her in years after a disagreement. in the card, she apologises for that, and then talks herself into another argument with you

duan xiaowan: you two never really dated. she left you a sheet of paper informing you that she's pregnant and that she'll raise the child on her own, good luck finding them. thankfully you happen to know a guy

mu kuangda: the card asks if you want to be his co-conspirator and overthrow the government with him (old man yaoi rights)

fei hongde: it's not a card, it's a ten page essay on how to manage the city you govern

li xiao: the card is expensive and beautiful. inside, it says that she holds the vast majority of the military power in huaiyin and to tread very carefully if you want to keep your head on your shoulders (for a character with no more than three lines of dialogue I love her very much)

bian lingbai: the card is very friendly and flattering. he invites you to see his secret stash of gold. you're certain there's no nefarious intent behind this (sorry if this is inaccurate, it's been a while since I read this arc sjdkfkf)

xie you: it's not a card, it's a letter with the shadow guard's stamp on it. all it does is ask if you know the location of the other half of the jade arc

lang junxia (sorry I have to exhaust all the lang junxia ships): the card promises that no matter what happens, you'll go through it together. you really want to believe that he won't abandon you like everyone else did, but deep down, you know he will. you accept anyway (I'll be so fr i can't remember if this is novel canon, audio drama canon, or a fic I read. if it is a fic and you're the one who wrote it, fuck you thank you for getting me into langcai)

duan ling: there's no card. he barges into your house screaming that someone is trying to kill him and you're completely lovestruck. you ask him to marry you right there and then (zhongling my precious underappreciated ship)

borjigin batu: the card is anonymous. you open it and there's no message, only a picture of a dog made of lettuce leaves

chang pin: the card just asks you for help to find some guy you've never heard of. you think it's very suspicious so you accept just to keep an eye on him. he mysteriously disappears a few days later

han bin: the card informs you that he burnt your birth certificate

zheng yan: the card relentlessly makes fun of you. it informs you that, if only you were a decade younger, he'd happily go at it with you for three days and three nights straight (listen that part is too funny not to use it skdkfl we have langzheng rights in this household)

I'm pretty sure I exhausted all characters in foxghosts' reference index that have actual dialogue lmao (plus duan xiaowan bc she's a queen and she simply must be included anyway)

all of them are phone games btw. and looong rambling about the games after the cut!

Mystic messenger has been in my radar since i was in elementary school but i played it for the first time after the spanish traslation came out (2017 i think?) Seven shaped my type in such a specific way that im not really sure why loved him so much (it was the whole "he loves you in every route" stuff). I like a lot the default mc, most of the fandom did and that was enough to won me over

Rosa is top tier protagonist tbh, Tears of Themis has really good story and characters (as far i played, not a lot but i enjoyed it) The reason i'm not that much of a fan is bc the game is expensive asf and not very free to play friendly. You're either lucky or have a big wallet with the gacha

Ephemeral has to be one of the best free to play otomes i've played tbh (if my memories aren't tricking me, it's been years) Good artwork, good storyline, good characters and as far i remember you can unlock one chapter of the character route per day (mabye two days, idk) and the mc's background has an important role in every route (she's a zombie! she's pretty now but eventually will fall apart, aaaaand her story gets expanded in one of the routes!) ((shes also adorable)) There's also a sequel, if you wanted more of the boys! never finished it but i'd recommend it

Honorable mentions! Huellitas Mágicas is a great game! has a really good cast with well fleshed arcs for all the characters, even the scondary ones! The game shines more for the development of *all* the characters rather than just the protagonist/ml. The main theme is overcoming insecurities! Each love interest has a different way of helping our (very insecure) protagonist and helping different characters with their own struggles :DD

10/10 i recommend this game if you want something cute and can be finished in a few hours, if i remember right. It also has a sequel! with like- 12 new love interests, also never finished it bc i didnt found a guide that worked for me but ñek

A3! is my canon event as a gacha player. Discovered the english/global server, tried it and got bored, left it for a few months, tried it again and fell in love, noticed the game was going to shut down bc low sales -HAHA :(-. This is not a otome btw, this is here bc Izumi has to be one of my favorite protagonists in gacha games ever

last but not least! Obey me! Shall we date? oh dear, what have they done to you :(. The original had intense powercreep to force you to pull cards -multiple times bc that makes them stronger- and even now, the company showed a lot of favoritism to some characters, leaving others to dust bc they don't make the same money. Not to say, they released a new game with the same cast and new main story (ignoring all what happend before). And let me say: THEY LITERALLY WANTED TO KILL THE ORIGINAL GAME.

Nightbringer might be a decent game but i don't trust the devs anymore, i still remember what happend with Asmo's birthday right after the release, and honestly i don't want to sit there watching how they disrespect my favorite characters again and again and again. Loved the characters hated the devs. 5/10 you can play it if you want but i don't recommend spending money on it, it's not worth it, just search #obey me here in tumblr and enjoy the amazing fanworks that i can assure you have a lot more love than the game itself

“noooo, tetsu.” you clutch onto him tighter, head still resting on his chest. you can hear the rumble of his laugh as he eases back down into his spot right next to you. “don’t go.”

“i have to, sweetheart.” kuroo rubs your back tenderly, pressing a chaste kiss on the top of your head. it was a weeknight and both of you had to be up early for work in the morning.

“you don’t want to stay?” a childish question that you can’t help but ask, a pout lining your lips. you must look absolutely pitiful judging by the look he’s giving you.

“you know i want to.” his arms tighten around you in a small apology. you can sense the dreaded ‘but’ ready to spill from the tip of his tongue so you beat him to the punch.

“so stay.” you grin up at him, chin resting on his chest. the close proximity has his eyes softening around the edges, mouth opening and closing as he tries to explain his reasoning for going. but all logic gets thrown at the window when he catches the hopeful look you cast at him.

“okay.” kuroo gives in. how could he not? saying no to you was an impossible task. “i’ll just get up earlier so i can go home and change.”

“yay! thank you tetsu.” you jolt up, planting kisses all over his face. he can’t help but laugh at your sudden burst of energy, relishing in all the love you pour onto him.

“of course.” kuroo gives you a kiss on the lips, pulling back just so he could see your smile. “im the best boyfriend ever after all.”

“yeah, yeah.” you giggle.

the two of you sit in a comfortable silence for a moment, your mind beginning to wander a little as an idea pops in your head. it’s almost like he can see the gears turning, a little lightbulb popping up and demanding attention.

“maybe…” you start but trail off, losing whatever nerve you had.

“maybe?” kuroo gently caresses your cheek, encouraging you to continue.

“maybe you could keep some work clothes here? you know…” you trail off again. “you know so you don’t have to rush home to change in the future.”

“and show up to work together?” he grins, sitting up, back resting against the headboard as he pulls you into his lap. “my my, what a scandal. what will the people say?”

“tetsu, i’m pretty sure the whole office knows we’re dating.” you roll your eyes.

kuroo’s eyebrows dramatically shot up far behind his bangs. he was well versed in whatever drama was circulating around the office, a secret fiend for gossip so you knew damn well he’s heard the rumors too. and yet…

“oh yeah? how do you know?” the pads of kuroo’s fingertips patter down along your back as he watches you carefully — catlike instincts trained onto you.

“because people gossip and we aren’t exactly the most discreet.”

“we are discreet!” kuroo looks mildly offended and if you didn’t know him so well, you think you’d had actually struck a nerve.

“babe, they caught us kissing at the the last work party.” you poke his cheek. “not to mention what some of them have been subjected to at happy hour.”

“you make it sound like we’re going at it 24/7 in the office, jeez.” he pouts, looking off to the side.

“i’m just telling you how it is.” you shrug, a teasing smile gracing your features. “i suppose you just can’t keep your hands off me.”

“why you little…” he tickles your side, causing you to giggle and squirm in his lap. after a moment he shows mercy and relents, nuzzling his nose against your face.

“so yeah, i don’t think it would be a big deal if we started going to work together.” you conclude, your voice just above a whisper now. kuroo pretends to ponder it for a moment before something else shifts in his amber eyes.

“noted.” he smirks, half lidded eyes set on you. “you know, you kinda owe me now for staying the night.”

“how’s that?”

“i’ve got to get up extra early, forgo my run and everything. you know how important cardio is to me.” he leans forward, lips ghosting your own as you suck in a bated breath.

“i guess we’ll have to find a suitable alternative for you then.” you pivot, straddling his lap and running your hands through his messy ink hair.

“oh i have a few ideas.” kuroo smirks, closing the gap between you as his lips touch yours.

it wasn’t like you to fall for a boy so easily. at least, not in the way that occurred, especially for a guy like nishimura riki. it was cheesy, to say the least: you two have been acquaintances since middle school, quite literally knowing each other for 6 years now, even now attending the same university (completely unintentional, of course). you always just kinda knew him as that lovely kid that was the same height as you, even throughout high school. don't get it twisted, you weren't that tall, but regardless of the fact, he was the same height.

the first time you saw him the summer after high school was at your orientation. you were placed in the 12th group, and when you reached the meeting spot, you noticed riki immediately, much, much taller than before, giving you two a height difference that wasn't present before. the second thing you noticed was the drop of his voice, which you discerned from his "yo, y/n!" coupled with a slight wave.

"ni-ki? what-" and before you even finished your sentence, the orientation leader interrupted, telling the group as a whole that they were about to start as you happened to be the last person they were waiting for. your conversation had to be put on halt until 20 minutes later where she began a tour of the school.

while you began to follow the group to the first destination, ni-ki reconvenes with you after speaking to a couple of the other group members, nudging your shoulder with his own to get your attention. "y/n, i didn't know you committed here? i thought you were gonna go to ucla for sure," he questions you with a voice of slight familiarity.

"no yeah, i was, but i thought about it and i just wanted to go here." he hums in acknowledgment, giving a few seconds of downtime before you begin to speak again. "dude, when did you become so tall? and have that deep ass voice? weren't we like basically the same height a few months ago?"

a few other differences were left unspoken but assumed nonetheless. first off, his hair, which historically was left black and much shorter throughout highschool, but now was longer with an ombré effect going from a light grey to black at the ends. secondly, his style, which flipped 180 from sweatpants and a normal shirt to something straight out of k-dramas. and lastly, his piercings, double lobes with a helix on both. or maybe one? point is, he looked good. too good.

he laughs, knowing this must come as a shocker to you because last time you checked, he was completely anew. "well for one, i turned 18 and was basically allowed to do whatever i wanted with my body. for some reason i went through a second puberty," he signals your height difference by putting his hand out flat at the top of your head and then bringing it to his, just shrugging. "also, i got a modeling job that allowed me to buy random ass clothes. so... yeah!"

your mouth slightly ajar combined with your head tilt let him know you were still in fact lost, so he continued on. "well, you know that dance group i've been in since a few years ago right?" the nod coming from your stature allowed him to finish the thought, "so basically some of the guys in that group like... told? their manager about me and gave me a chance to attend one of their casting calls, and i made the cut."

the group stops in front of the library, allowing you guys to sit down at one of the slabs nearby, half listening to your tour guide, but more focused on conversing with one another because you two had already toured the school when filling out college applications.

"wait, congrats ni-ki, that's insane!" you turn to him, giving him a quick cheeky smile with two thumbs up, and he just chuckles at you, putting his face into his hands at the sight of your cuteness playfulness. "what, did i say something wrong?"

"n-no, it's just... nevermind..." he tsks at you, not wanting to reveal the fact that he found you cute for a second.

you two continued to chat about anything and everything, eventually learning more about the guy that you would've never known previously. for one, he hates the color pink, even though all of his friends tell him that the color suits him—even his model designer thinks pink is his most suitable color. you also learned that the group that he's apart of, enhypen, is actually pretty popular on tiktok and youtube: garnishing over 4 million subs on youtube and 2 million followers on tiktok. he's also been with his group for multiple years now, and you even met some of them at sports events and stuff, like sunoo and jay.

other things include the fact that he has an older and a younger sister, he loves to dance, he likes to play piano, and one time he met jung ho-yeon before she was on squid game and he was so confused on why they looked so familiar, he thought they were long lost siblings or something. then he found out that she's korean.

he still believes it though...

soon enough, you guys find yourselves at the end of the orientation, having made friends with others, but especially between you two. you asked him if he could hang out during summer, but he has plans to go to japan the rest of summer, so you just plan to hang out during your time in college.

the one thing that you didn't talk about was your rooming situation, so imagine your surprise when you're in the middle of your move-in, and in the hallway, you see ni-ki, walking into the suite right across from yours. "no fucking way, nishimura riki." you yell to him due to his headphones over his head, and he turns over and immediately puts a grin onto his face.

"y/n l/n." he puts his box down and walks over to you, embracing your smaller body, allowing you to practically melt in his scent and hug. once he lets you go, he just gazes at you, still smiling. "how have you been?" he leans against the wall in his cool-guy-esque fashion, but after talking with him the entirety of orientation, you know that he's a lot more of a nerd and introvert than he lets on.

"it's been good! honestly dude, i missed you." you don't miss the fact that his cheeks slightly flush with color, losing the eye contact that was previously held. "how was fucking japan, you looked like you had so much fun on your story and shit!" while asking, you point toward his box, silently questioning if you could come in and help him with his stuff while you updated each other.

while speaking, he brought you to his room that was surprisingly extremely decorated: full of neutrals and darker tones with some pop of color, many boxes and clothes on the floor but already pretty put together.

"wow, you're already way farther in the move-in than i am—i feel like there's just so much fucking stuff," you explain, taking a seat on his bed. you bounce on it a couple of times, mouth wide open by how comfortable it is. "wait, ni-ki, how did you do this?"

"mattress topper." he replies, placing his last box down on the floor and beginning to re-arrange his clothes onto the outside hanger he had bought. "looks like we're gonna be neighbors, y/n," he said in his deep tone, always catching you off-guard, but somehow giving you a tinge of butterflies in your stomach.

"yeah!" you chirp, excited to explore the newfound friendship with ni-ki.

after the first month of university, many people in both of your guys' social circles had created a conceived notion around ni-ki: that he was a nonchalant, cool guy.

you knew this wasn't him at all though.

but you understood why people had thought that of the guy. for one, he's 6 foot something (he doesn't tell you his exact height just to tease the fact that he's much taller than you). next, he dresses stylistically as if every day is his last waking day. lastly, he loves to observe, and not talk much, but every time he did, he always had something witty or something flirtatious to say.

that is until people saw how he was whenever he was with you.

the cool guy persona had completely shifted into something more friendly, more recognizable as a regular person. ni-ki explained his day rapid-fire, telling you basically everything that happened, showed you a specific dance that he and his members had learned, or maybe gave you a sneak peek of what he was gonna wear to some fashion show. he also would tell you about his interests, the things he did on the side, even the people he met. when his friends saw how different he acted around you, they confronted him first, then confronted you after.

"what did ni-ki say?" you ask, wondering why he acts so different around yourself than other people.

"he just said that's how your dynamic was." heeseung had shrugged. "even though we've been members together for like 5 years now, i've never seen ni-ki open up this much to someone. it's like you guys are like... dating or something."

the sentiment gets a cough out of you, not expecting those words to come out of his mouth. "w-what?! of course not, we're just friends!" you deny frantically, waving your hands in front of him. "me and ni-ki are just friends."

just then, an arm wraps around your waist, a voice entering the conversation, "who's just friends?" ni-ki questions, smiling at you and heeseung.

of course, heeseung just looks at you, looks at the arm around your waist, then at ni-ki, and back to you. he raises his eyebrows and puckers his lips before walking away. ni-ki turns to you in confusion. "what's that all about?"

as time went on, you and ni-ki had become exceptionally comfortable with one another, becoming each other's ride or dies. unfortunately for you though, it meant he had become increasingly flirtatious with you. you knew he was straight, he had explained his previous crushes to you and what he was looking for in a girl, but you on the other hand had fallen susceptible to his advances, convincing yourself that this is just what friends do.

on his birthday, he had brought you to smoke at the "top of the world," so he called it, which was literally just a trail that led you to the top of a scenic cliff. romantic, you thought, but you knew it was just out of you two becoming best friends.

"y/n-ie," he starts, the nickname sticking after calling you that one drunken night during halloween. "what do you think about teddy bears?"

you passed the joint back to him after taking a hit. "teddy bears? ni-ki, what the fuck are you on about??" the words come out a little too harsh for your liking, so you quickly follow-up, "sorry, i didn't mean it like that."

ni-ki gets up and turns to you. "that was kind of mean," he pouts, putting out his joint before putting back into the metallic holder he had thrifted. the taller had shifted slightly closer to you, wanting to lean his head on your shoulder. it was a little awkward due to the height difference, but the guy made it work, and it made you begin to sweat on your palms.

"sorry, ni-ki." even through the nervousness, you had half a mind to pretend like nothing's wrong, so you lean your head on top of his just barely. in case he questions it, then you could always play the ambiguity card: 'i didn't do anything, it was all you.'

"it's okay baby." he also started calling you that after thanksgiving, when he heard sunoo calling you it. he crossed his arms and wouldn't talk to you for the rest of the day until you came over to his room and asked you why sunoo called you baby and he couldn't, so after that it was a deal that he was allowed to.

you checked the time, which just hit 12 am. "oh, happy birthday ni-ki." you tell him, reaching from your tote bag for a smaller, paper bag within. you hand it to the guy, looking into his eyes for validation. "for you, it's not a bomb, i swear!"

he takes it from you and opens it, revealing two keychains that matched, alongside bracelets from his favorite brand. "y/n..." he trails off, not knowing what to say to you.

"i know, i know, the bracelets are expensive. but ni-ki, you're my best friend. i would do anything for you." you tell him, not wanting him to freak out.

the bracelets had been on his mind since the summer, you remembered from one of the random conversations that you had during orientation, and even though it was a long time ago, you knew he had been wanting them for months, but couldn't allocate the right funds to get it, especially because he was building his closet at the time.

"y/n... i... thank you." he finally stammers out, looking back at your eyes. even in the pale moonlight, you could discern the water in his eyes, but you knew that he hated when he cried, so you didn't say anything of it. "you remembered, huh?"

"uhh, duhh! of course i did," you joke, attempting to lighten the mood. you place your hand onto his shoulder to give him some comfort, but he takes that arm and uses it as leverage to push you onto your back, crawling on top of you. "w-woah, ni-ki?!" you yelp in surprise, not comprehending what just happened.

he just grins, placing his large hand on your face, rubbing your cheek softly. "y/n..."

little did he know though, this was your final straw. you couldn't take it anymore, the incessant flirting, the changes in his behavior around you, hell, even the constant sleepovers that he asked you all the time. so you did the only thing you could think of: run.

of course it didn't really work though.

he was miles more athletic than you were, so he caught up to you within like 5 seconds which is honestly embarrassing on your behalf but you were too sad and a little turned on to even care.

"ni-ki, let go of me, i can't take this anymore!"

the taller just holds your arm, but the rest of his body was frantic, like he was afraid that if he let go he'd lose you for good. "w-what, y/n, what! you can't take what?!" he yells, not knowing what happened.

you twist your head around, looking at him like he grew a second head. "what do you mean, this! i can't take it, calling me nicknames and pet names, flirting with me constantly, sleeping over, acting different around me than your friends. friends don't do this, so you need to st-" and with that explanation, he gently grabs your head, leans down, flutters his eyes shut, and places his lips onto yours.

people around you realized that the cool nonchalant guy was ni-ki from the dance group enhypen, giving him massive amounts of popularity quickly (you didn't even know popularity in college existed...)

however, it also came to light the fact that you were dating ni-ki, and you slowly began to be known as y/n: the ni-ki tamer, which was crazy in your opinion, but ni-ki loved the title, so you let it slide.

other than that, you started to become integrated with the rest of enhypen, the rest of the members seeing how ni-ki changes when he's with you, but they realized it was for the better as you all hung out, as they saw a side of him that didn't even know existed.

you loved enhypen, they took you in as their own and integrated you into their friend group, even giving you free dance lessons just so you could also join in some of their choreos.

"guys," you pant, exhausted from the lesson ni-ki was giving you. "why did you not tell me that ni-ki is considered the best dancer in this fucking group? and why did you let me take lessons from him?" you complain to the rest of enhypen, who are watching from the sides.

“yes captain?” he asks, his boots thumping the polished floors as he walks down the corridor.

he listens in to her concerns and to her comments. his day goes on like that, he doesn’t see much of you throughout the day, it’s always like that. he’s immersed in office work while you’re more immersed in hands on, physical work. his mind sometimes goes back to how you two met, that mission that made his heart skip a beat around you.

where you had to drive the team out. where you kept scaring the living shit out of everyone with your recklessness. where you kept getting scolded and had the audacity to drag him into it. where you had smiled at him and winked when he glared at you.

“boom!” you open the door to his office with a loud exclamation.

“how’d the mission go?” he asks, yet doesn’t look up at you.

“well sweetheart, grant me a pretty smile and i’ll let you know.”

he rolls his eyes before looking up at you. the papers in his hands go slack but he remains calm. “you’re hurt?”

his eyes widen before falling back narrowed. he lightly pushes your face away in an act of annoyance. you turn your face back to him and as fast as he normally is, with you, he’s always slow. before he knows it he’s tackled to the floor.

“ah- y/n! aren’t you in pain?” he looks up at you, a smile on his lips.

“yeah, my knee just popped back in place i think.”

“eh-?” he frowns. he tries to look at your frame but your caging him underneath your body.

“then, i had to duck and i think i sprained my hamstrings,” your hand moves lower down his thigh and his breathing gets slightly shallow-

“a-am i interrupting?” okonogi asks at the door.

hoshina gasps, trying to shove you away. you laugh and pat his thigh before getting off of him.

“no dear, we were just talking.” you smile up at her.

“o-on the floor?”

you nod, smiling wickedly at the flush on hoshina’s cheeks. “i was telling the vice captain how the mission went.”

“oh! i brought the reports about it actually, since you asked for them,” she says, forgetting what she saw to hand you the folder.

you sit criss crossed and thank her. “well dear,” you say to hoshina, tapping his head with the folder as you easily get up from that sitting position, “you should get back to work, i was only here to see you and you attacked me.”

“eh?” okonogi tilts her head.

“ah, how bad of me to want to inspect your injuries, honey.” he grits.

“you can inspect all you want,” you grin, pulling him up to his feet.

“hope you get better platoon leader y/n!” okonogi says cheerfully, “good to see you vice captain,” she bows respectfully before leaving.

you watch her leave and close the door. you look away for a second before smiling, moving your sight to hoshina who’s glaring you down. ah, how cute! he’s so cute when he’s all grouchy! only you get the worst out of him.

“yah!” he yells as your hug him and bite down on his cheek. “GET OFF!”

As one of the nobles of Abaddon, Azaruuth has a fierce reputation by default. He is a devil who specializes in bindings, restraints, and locking down anyone he wishes to, which is why he has taken up the role of Warden to the country's biggest prison. The entire facility is under his watchful care and he has full authority to choose who gets locked up and who gets to leave.

While he does run the palce with an iron fist, he is not above denying devils their vices. Garner enough favor and one might find their cell door unlocked and their restraints a little loose. Though they shouldn't get too overexcited with their taste of freedom. He can drag them back in prison in the blink of an eye.

more fun facts:

he loves sweets, so much so that you can use it as currency to barter with him (the rarer the sweets, the better chances you have)

tells Ronove to get pretty angel feathers for him since he can't really leave the prison often

before becoming the Warden, he was also a detainee at the prison

he has no problem binding lesser devils but the nobles need specialized binds to make sure they stay put

has a steady stack of complaints at his desk whenever he lets any devil out

he turns those papers into origami (Bael saw him do it to his own paperwork back when Azaruuth visited Abyssos and he almost had a heart attack)

Soooo, you've probably noticed Ive been replaying HZD recently so my mind's been stuck on the franchise for a while.

I finally took the time to actually try and experience Burning Shores for the first time, this time with an unbiased opinion.

Bcs, ngl, when it came out, I was very negative towards it for a couple of reasons. It already started out with me not being able to freaking play this DLC, even though I was so excited for it, cos while HFW was on PS4, the DLC wasnt. And Im wasnt going to buy a whole ass PS5 just for a DLC.

(I will get it once I buy a PS5 for MH Wilds though).

And then, ofc, the elephant in the room - Seyka, or rather Aloy's relationship with her.

I'll preface this with, though it should be obvious with my content, I do NOT have a problem with Aloy being in a gay relationship.

What rly irked me, and honestly still irks me, is that Aloy finally gets to experience new feelings IN A FUCKING DLC. AN EXTENSION A LOT OF THE PLAYERBASE WONT PLAY.

The second reason I didnt enjoy this decision was bcs it felt so rushed. I mean, we're talking about Aloy here! Miss "I dont have time for feelings bcs I gotta save the world"! Miss "I barely just learnt to let others in"!

From what Ive heard, the DLC is over the course of a few weeks/months, so it's not like they fell in love just like that, but Ive also heard that while playing you do not get a feel for that passage of time. I'll have to experience that for myself though.

Now that Ive had some distance from the franchise though, my feelings have changed a bit

Im not going to lie and say I now loooove this decision. No, I am still miffed such enourmous character developement for Aloy is stuck IN A DLC. Not to mention that it was such a bold move to try this with a new character, cos this relationship being perceived well hinges on the player liking Seykay and that fast. Imo she's a fine character but also nothing special.

Now, I do have to say, I am really happy that Aloy has finally come so far that she allows such intimate feelings to develop, or rather, that the devs let her be this way. I know a lot of us still perceive Aloy as this single minded protag, that wont let anyone in bcs "the mission is too important", so Im glad Guerilla shows us that Aloy has undergone quite the growth.

Im also pleasantly surprised that Guerilla has the guts to include romance for Aloy, bcs they were one leg in the "strong women need no (wo)men" pit, so it's great to see they dont let Aloy fall into that trope.

Now, for the FUN part.

I actually have a conspiracy theory, ie I am gaslighting myself on why such a big thing is stuck in a DLC.

I think Guerilla is testing the waters to see how players react. I am pretty sure they can gather the data on what dialogue options players used, so Im thinking this:

Guerilla is trying to gauge the player reaction on a) Aloy developing feelings, b) players thinking Aloy is ready/willing for a relationship, c) same sex relationships. They tried killing quite a few birds with one stone.

I have seen quite a few teasing, winky face posts and replies from Guerilla staff about romance options in the third installment, so my guess (delusion) is that the relationship is hidden in the DLC so Guerilla can plan on how much and obvious to include several romance options in the last title.

I know this is all just wishful thinking, but even if Seyka is a good character, I hope to fucking god that they dont just take that relationship decision away from us, esp with a character bound to a DLC.

Guerilla gave us such a wonderful cast of characters over the last two games, and if they want to give Aloy an "end game" in the third title, I hope they do let us choose with who. Or at least I hope they dont force a relationship we cant choose onto us.

Cos as much as Aloy is her own person, it is still US that make the decisions in game. Through our individual playstyles , we give Aloy our own interpretation. Now, we cant change her core values, but still, I hope to GAIA that Guerilla will give us enough wiggle room.

I think Dave was pretty on the mark when he described early legislacerators as bounty hunters. Maybe they assumed something marginally closer to an attorney's role in Alternia's modern age - but in Redglare's era, the ideal legislacerator was a violent thrill-seeker, more concerned with bloody combat than courtroom paperwork.

Thank you! And yeah, we've talked a bit about this before. Cat and I had a discussion about the subject back in Act 3, and I'm well aware that this comic isn't going to answer all of my questions. Honestly, it would be pretty surprising if it did - I've been digging really deep into aspects of the comic that are clearly just meant to be background details.

As for whether I'll be dipping into Hussie's other projects, or Homestuck's non-canon material - I'm certainly going to check them out, but only time will tell whether they get the full liveblogging treatment. That said, if it addresses questions of mine that Homestuck itself doesn't elaborate on, consider my interests piqued.

Black Rose/Green Sun was a great song. It evoked a very different feeling than anything we've heard before, and really highlighted how alien Rose has become, now that she's been fully submerged in darkness.

It's not impossible. To me, Rose's monologue reads as if she's trying to express her admiration of her mother. This is the first time she's admitted to having positive feelings for her guardian, and I think she's regretting that she never voiced these feelings to the woman herself, before it was too late.

That's just one reading of her words, though. I think her monologue here is meant to be ambiguous, just like the Lalonde mother-daughter relationship always was.

Within the hypothetical context of the fic, I've been thinking a lot about why there'd be two Sallys. Like, was one 'sona partially cloned from the other? If so, who was the original? she woke up cuddled into his chest. his eyes were already staring at the ceiling of the room as she looked him over, she was almost jealous of how good he looked, the sun casting a golden shadow onto his face.

he looked over at her and smiled. "good morning." he said, voice husky with sleep.

"morning shoto."

"would you like breakfast in bed?" he said causally, as if it was no big deal. well, to him it wasn't apparently.

"mm, sure."

at the clap of a hand servants appeared out of no where, shoto asked them to bring breakfast for them at once, at which the servants bowed and got right to it.

the breakfast was fit for a queen. she had never seen this much food just for two people, the spread being so well-done and large that she swore it could feed her city and then some.

as they split it, they made conversation by talking about random things. [name] explained a bit of slang to shoto, who was adorablely bad at making coherent sentences with them.

"i am so 'cool' right now." he said oddly.

"okay, maybe try saying it like, more casually i think."

"your outfit is so 'wack' today."

"excuse me?"

yeah, probably not the best thing to teach a future king. after [name] was stuffed full, she was washed and put into a gorgeous gown, probably worth more than her house.

it was a gift from the queen, who shoto and her were to visit today. she was excited to meet her, and hopeful that she could find a cure for her ailment.

but first, [name] got to take part in rich people activities.

watching the three brothers all take turns fencing each other, with dabi ultimately winning made her laugh with glee. it was cute to see shoto fight so hard and get so annoyed.

with fuyumi, the three practiced their archery. she had never had to hold a bow before, so she was really bad. shoto was pretty good, only missing a few targets, but fuyumi was a star, hitting every shot with a bullseye.

shoto stood behind [name] and tried to fix her horrible posture, his chest behind her back as he raised her arms up, positioning her shot right over the target.

she shot and..

she celebrated, jumping up and down with fuyumi in glee, and kissing shoto on the cheek as thank you.

finally though, it was time. the whole day had led up to this moment, as they prepared to go see the queen.

as they travesered the halls down to the room especially for queen rei, shoto took [name]'s hand into his. she happily tightened her grip on his, and laid her head on his shoulder. he was just so.. princely.

as they finally made it to the queen's door, [name] asked shoto to check her appearance. "how do i look? do i look okay? is my hair cute?"

"you always look amazing [name], my mother will adore you."

after recovering from her heart palpitations, they walked in to greet the queen. [name]'s heart clenched at the sight of her discomfort, and at the amount of effort she had to exert just to sit up straight.

"shoto.. and your fiance i assume? i'm glad to meet you, i wish it were under better circumstances." the queen said, smiling gently.

at this, [name] went over and held her hands in hers. "your highness, i promise i will help heal you, so that the better circumstances come sooner rather than later."

"she's a witch." shoto added, making the queen's eyes shoot up in surprise.

"really.. but i thought his father--"

"majority of witches are dead, yes. but, im here, and i think i can help you your highness. so, would you grant me permission?" [name] asked, determined to save the queen for her and shoto's sake.

"of course, if shoto trusts you, so do i."

[name] smiled, now determined to figure out what her sickness was.

she checked over everything. and many things were wrong.

the white in her eye was slightly tinted purple, as the black iris was as well. her veins were defined and prominent, her blood pressure high as well. her breathing would've seemed normal to any normal folk, but [name] noticed the underlying strain in her inhales and exhales. her hair was thick on top and thin on the bottom, and her hands were shaky.

at the realization, [name]'s eyes widened. "shoto.. may i speak to you outside?"

"yes, may we be excused momentarily mother?" she nodded, and they walked out of earshot.

this one starts off as human!alastor/lucifer but by the middle(?) its just regular radioapple. basically al is encountered by luci while finishing off a job who agrees to keep quiet. luci just keeps on showing up, reveals hes the devil to which al us just like "lol ok" and eventually they get in a relationship (ooh lala 👀) but they break up after saying some hurtful things to each other (oh nono 👀) with luci promising al they will never cross paths again. if you watched the show then well. you know that doesnt happen 😂 most human!al radioapple have al summon him (no hate to them) so this was an interesting change of pace

cannot stress it enough but this is a WORKING list i WILL be coming back to it bc these are purely the fics i could think if off the top of my head. IN FACT, if any of you have radioapple fics you love, SEND THEM THE FUCK IN! i am one person whos only been in this fandom for 4 months, and reading fics/shipping radioapple even less, theres bound to be some ones i missed that you think are Worthy™️! and if theyre nsfw then at the very least it shouldnt be the main focus
