What if Jake had been in town when the Garaton Inspector came by?
Honestly, Rachel's plan in #37 is not bad. It's a good idea to attack Visser Three while he's feeding, and a good idea to convince the Council of Thirteen to get rid of him — he's the yeerk pushing hardest to wipe out 95% of humans to make the remaining 5% easier to enslave. Rachel perceives herself as reaching the highest highs of hubris before dropping to the lowest lows of incompetence... but as Jake points out, she fixes her own mistakes the best she can and comes out on par with his usual performance. She's not good at listening to her team, but she's not actually the terrible leader she sees herself as being.
So. I think Jake, if there, would suggest attacking Visser Three while feeding. And then he'd agree with Rachel's idea of a hit-and-run blitz to make the visser look bad to the inspector. That said, Jake wouldn't make Rachel's mistake of telling everyone to use the same battle morph. There are times when Jake is guilty of thinking big cats are superior to all other morphs (#2, #11), just like Rachel mistakenly assumes bears are superior in #37, but Jake also excels at recognizing others' strengths.
I also think Jake would attack the one place Rachel doesn't: his own house. Rachel knows Tom's there alone in #37, but the other Animorphs tend not to touch Tom with a 10-foot pole because they know he's Jake's berserk button. Jake wouldn't want to trash his own house, but I could also see him getting defensive about not targeting Tom and declaring that it's time to go break his parents' shit and lightly injure his brother.
There might not be a final confrontation in the yeerk pool, without Rachel's mistake with the all-bear team. In which case, the inspector might survive, but garatrons might get used as hosts, but Visser Three might get removed, but someone worse might replace him. As Jake and Rachel conclude at the end: it's a wash, but at least they all lived to tell the tale.

Bruce showing someone his kids' pictures from when they were little: "And this is Jason--"
Jason: "That's a picture of Tim, actually--"
Bruce, fumbling with his wallet: "This is Barbara when she was younger--"
Babs: "Steph isn't even a redhead, how are you messing this up?"
Bruce: "This is Cass--"
Steph: "That's literally a cropped baby picture of you. What are you doing?"
Bruce: "You can't see it fully but this is Alfred with Dick--"
Damian: "That used to be a picture of me and Grandfather."
Bruce: "Here's a picture of Tim."
Batkids: *examining it*
Tim: "That... actually could be anyone."
Damian, simultaneously: "It's not ugly enough for Drake."
Bruce, oblivious to the fight breaking out: "And this is Duke."
Duke, spitting out water when he sees it: "How the hell do you have that?"
Dick: "Well at least he's two for ten."
Jason, going through the photos: "Why are some of these fucking stock photos?"
Dick: "You think that's bad? He's got a picture from the circus with Tim circled in the crowd."

My favourite underrated thing about Louis de Point du Lac is that he truly is the least curious vampire to ever be made and he does not give fuck about vampires despite being one.
Its Claudia who goes to libraries, reads the folklore, tries to learn as much as she can and pushes Lestat for answers about who made him and where the others are. Claudia says Vampire Pride and Louis says hmmm Vampire Tolerance.
And Louis...truly does not care about vampire history, law, culture. He's never even thought to ask. There are vampire laws?...ok...Lestat never cared about them and he's not going to either, lol. He's broken a few and he will continue to do so. Oh you have a coven? he's not gonna join it, he's gonna do his own thing. but good for you good for you.
the 500+ year old Coven Leader, he's gonna call Louis, Maitre, actually.
He has fire powers? thats kinda cool. he'll learn that but only cause it lets him vent his feelings about Lestat.
Lestat and Armand say the name of the vampire queen in front of him and Lestat straight up says, "Louis has no idea who that is" and do you think Louis cares, outside of the fact that for some reason it means he can't kill Lestat? No! Do you think in the 77 years he's been with Armand he ever took 5 minutes to ask a follow up question? No!
Do you think he will care about Akasha in season 3? Doubt it! Outside of her obsession with Lestat, who is the only person left on the planet he seems to be able to filter Caring About This Shit through
He blatantly breaks the 3rd law and publishes a book about being a vampire and when the other vampires get pissed not only does he not apologise he literally sends them his location and says 'you wanna fight? lmao don't miss'
I love him. Daniel Molloy is gonna need to bring his A game because Louis will not be solving a single mystery next season, nor would it even occur to him to try.

Rereading #37.  I’d forgotten that the Animorphs’ “we can do crime, but only against the yeerks” policy is actually “we can do crime, but only against the yeerks and Philip Morris.”  Which, honestly?  Mad respect.

I didn’t share this before, but I took this video on night before Belphie was diagnosed with FIP. he’d stopped walking. if I placed him somewhere, he’d just crumple. finally I managed to get this weird, wobbly walk from him with a meat gogurt.
compare this video to the one I posted earlier today, where he’s flinging himself into the air like a frog! I 100% believe he would’ve died that week without the medication, and now he’s thriving. now he gets to be a happy, chaotic kitten. now he gets to grow up.
