Shockingly underrated thing about Leo is that he’s legitimately charming when he wants to be?

He’s the Faceman! He’s persuasive! That’s not just some random title he gave himself with no backing to it. People will listen to him. Even if they think he’s being annoying or if they’re upset at him, people listen to him anyway! There’s a reason his bros push him out front to talk to people, and when this happens, that talking nearly always works.

Moreover, Leo knows people. He looks at them and takes into account how they act and what they’re like as he makes his way through the conversations. It’s easy to forget this aspect of Leo’s character because he only brings it out when he really needs (read: wants) to, but it really is a notable part of him that always love to see.

And I say charm in particular because he has a knack for not only getting people to pay attention, but for getting people to stay and listen to what he has to say.

tbh i think volo would have been significantly more normal and fine if he hadn’t been hiding so much of his true feelings and personality. like when you deny yourself genuine human connection to that degree you’re probably going to come off as a machiavellian monster who wants to make the world and the lives of others worse, but looking at his actual stated motivations and intentions it’s clear to me at least that the guy is deeply empathetic and idealistic and more than anything disappointed that the world can’t be better

"Cole looks exactly like Lilly!", except, not really.

I needed a reference sheet, so while at it I tried pointing out the differences between them in my style, and I will mention them more in detail below!

I also noted some color references because I did not want to color it all instead... call me lazy I don't know.

(And I definitely did not make Lilly lighther because I hc that she got paler after getting sick, definitely...)

Well uh, so:

Lilly

- Has rounder face

- Cat eyes

- Plumper lips with a pronounced cupid's bow

Cole

- Has a more defined face

- PUPPY EYES! I am never letting go of his oni trilogy eyes EVER.

- Still has plump lips but smaller and less defined than hers

Some things I like to talk about:

- The eyes. Canonically Lilly has cat eyes while Cole had puppy eyes in Oni Trilogy and still does in the comics and on his face printing!

Their eyes are like, the main thing that sets them apart too. It's not as noticable in minifigure form, but when I convert it to human faces it makes the difference very jarring...

- Not sure about Cole, but most likely Lilly had a more uhh, puffy (?) face. I say this because when she was sick, her face did not get slimmer like for example when Maya was drained and tired. I like to believe it's because she had a fuller face.

So yeah, I say both have fuller faces but Lilly just has a more visibly chubby face.

I think how Swansea and Curly treat Anya telling them about Jimmy is so interesting.

I know I just mentioned it but it’s stuck in my head how Swansea already disliked Jimmy. Immediately believed her but he still didn’t do anything to actually stop him and help her. He listened and accepted it, and that must’ve been a relief compared to Curly who listened but didn’t. But it still left her vulnerable and without whatever emotional support Curly did supply her. His inaction is only different because his position on the crew is different. But after the crash, did that really matter?

Like in the end Swansea really was only trying to avenge Daisuke and used Anya’s treatment from Jimmy as an accelerant to kill him, but he still did nothing for her.

Oh no, I’m realizing I’m starting to get a bit tired of seeing TF One megop/dpax stuff

It’s not that it’s bad or anything, but I’m coming to the realization that they tend to be the same few genres of images and comics. I’m trying to figure out how specifically to word what I mean, but it’s not coming to mind at the moment. But they sort of evoke the same ideas and feelings I think

Technically you could say this is true of other varieties of megop as well, but usually when we see those, they’ve already been fighting for a long period of time, so you’ve got their current dynamic and long time of being apart to work with, as well as their origins. With TF One, the breakup just started, so the timeline and dynamic that comes with it is significantly more condensed and limited. If that makes sense

I’m also not criticizing people who make their dpax/megop stuff like this, honestly I probably would too if I drew them more. It’s kind of just a product of the movie being an origin story and the dynamics only now shifting between the two. There’s a very clear way to do content about them in this movie

It’s just that I’ve noticed this, and now it makes me a bit more disinterested in this version of megop, at least for now. Makes me want to seek out other variations a bit more

i'm getting towards the end of the skypeia arc, & i'd like to say just how much i adore the way the female strawhats have been treated.

just... every aspect of how the way their characters have been previously contextualized influences the story-line is treated with a masterful amount of consideration. we're given so many layers to both of them that enrich not only their characters specifically, but the arc, and the one piece world as a whole. without nami & robin having their specific skills, and their specific values, without those being built upon, the story would have come to a halt.

you could not have skypeia without nami & robin being who they are as individuals. not just because they never would've gotten there without nami, but also because the way these women think is itself foundational to the machinations of the arc as a whole.

to be totally upfront, if you think any other strawhats were more central to the skypeia arc than nami & robin were you are full-on fucking lying to yourself.
